Just a couple of days ago we posted on how Bevo XIV, the Texas Longhorns mascot, had to be retired because doctors found he had Bovine Leukemia Virus.

Sadly we learned today that Bevo XIV has died in his sleep and is is now holding it down in that great ranch above. He was twelve years old.

Unfortunately as we know, these things happen and everyone dies. If you were a rival school of Texas, like Texas A&M, you could easily kick a team when they’re down. But that’s not how the Aggies have responded.

Instead, shirts around College Station have been spotted that read “Today only: Gig Em Longhorns.”

Jimmy Fallon had Bruce Willis stop by last night–and, boy, they sure rolled with this whole gag that Bruce Willis has always shaved his head because his natural hair style looks exactly like Donald Trump’s. A lesser actor would have come out, gotten the laugh, and then taken off the toupee. Bruce went along with the Tonight Show’s staff grand vision, though, and you’ll see that the segment just gets more and more elaborate.

We don’t really have a problem with this series, since the second Paranormal Activity actually did a lot to make the first one an even better film. Now we have a new PA film that will supposedly wrap up the high concept of making really cheap movies that turn over hundreds of millions a dollars. Looks like they finally upped the special effects budget here–and maybe came up with a new Poltergeist that’s better than this summer’s Poltergeist remake…

Freaks of Nature [Red Band Trailer]

We’re pretty sure that this is a renamed Kitchen Sink, unless there were two movies being made about vampires and humans having to get along to battle zombies and aliens. Anyway, this red band trailer has plenty of gore and bad language to ensure that it’s NSFW. Also, we get Vanessa Hudgens, although her presence is fairly wholesome….

The Boy

And it’s yet more horror for the Halloween season–although we’re not really sure when The Boy is coming to theaters. We hope that it’ll get a shot at the big screen, though, since The Walking Dead‘s Lauren Cohan has the lead role of a nanny hired to look over a very creepy doll. We have a sinking feeling that we already know where the plot is going, but this (and Lauren) still seem compelling….

Steve McQueen: The Man & Le Mans

And we finally have a non-horror offering with a documentary about how movie star Steve McQueen terrified a film crew by being determined to make the ultimate racing film back in the ’70s. The renegade actor was determined to capture the need for speed that had him racing professionally as a side gig. (We saluted McQueen and his fellow vintage speed freaks “5 Racing Movies with Actors Who Really Raced.”) The result was Le Mans–a big mess of a movie that still makes a serious impact. It’s definitely a film worth revisiting to find out how the hell it was ever made…

An unbelievable finish as Michigan punter Blake O’Neill miffed the snap and Michigan State’s Jalen Watts-Jackson picks it up for a 38-yard touchdown as time expires. Michigan State moves to 7-0 on the season while Michigan falls to 5-2. Connor Cook went 18-for-39 for 328 yards and a touchdown and found his favorite target Aaron Burbridge nine times for 132 yards. Jake Rudock threw for 168 yards while going 15-for-25 for Michigan. An inprobable and crazy finish at the Big House that will be remembered for a very long time to come.

4th Quarter- 2:03 left: Michigan State has the ball at the Michigan 44 with a final chance to win this game in regulation.

4th Quarter- 6:48 left: Michigan State gets the ball to the Michigan 40 but can’t get any further and must punt the ball away.

4th Quarter- Michigan 23, Michigan State 21: On the first play from scrimmage, Connor Cook hits Trevon Pendleton for a 74-yard reception. LJ Scott then scores from a yard out with 8:56 left to knock the Michigan lead down. A very quick strike from the Spartans in response to the Wolverines’ field goals. This game is getting really good in the closing minutes.

4th Quarter- Michigan 23, Michigan State 14: Kenny Allen makes his third field goal of the afternoon with a 38-yard kick and it is back to a two-possession game with 9:25 left to play. The Wolverines just keep scoring on each possession as they continue to leave the pressure on the Spartans to respond.

4th Quarter- 14:47 left: Michigan State goes for it again on fourth down and is unsuccessful in Michigan territory. It has happened a lot today for the Spartans.

End of 3rd Quarter- Michigan State is driving as the fourth quarter gets underway and into Michigan territory. Connor Cook is 13-for-23 for 187 yards and a touchdown. Aaron Burbridge has seven catches for 79 yards to lead the Spartans. Jake Rudock is 11-for-16 for 136 yards for the Wolverines. De’Veon Smith has 42 yards on the ground for Michigan to lead the run attack.

3rd Quarter- Michigan 20, Michigan State 14: The Wolverines are able to respond to the Spartans’ touchdown with a 21-yard field goal by Kenny Allen to extend the lead back to six but not what they would have liked when this possession started.

3rd Quarter- Michigan 17, Michigan State 14: The Spartans get back into the game as Connor Cook hits Macgarrett Kings Jr. for a 30-yard touchdown and it is suddenly a three-point game again with 7:07 left in the quarter. Cook is 11-for-21 for 164 yards for the game.

3rd Quarter- Michigan 17, Michigan State 7: Sione Houma scores from one yard out and it is a two-possession lead for the Wolverines at home against the Spartans with 9:17 left in the quarter. Houma has three carries for 30 yards and both Michigan touchdowns. Michigan State has a big challenge ahead of them now after a very good Michigan defense.

3rd Quarter- 12:09 left: The Spartans go for it on 4th down and Tyler O’Connor runs for seven yards and comes up short. Michigan with great field position for their second drive of the half.

Halftime- Michigan 10, Michigan State 7

The Wolverines go into the locker room with the three-point lead on the Spartans. Connor Cook is 8-for-16 for 94 yards for Michigan State. Gerald Holmes has 19 rushing yards to lead the Spartans. Jake Rudock is 6-for-9 for 53 yards for Michigan. The Spartans have 142 yards of offense to the Wolverines’ 95 through the first 30 minutes of action. It shapes up to be a low-scoring, defensive second half.

2nd Quarter- 1:25 left: Michigan is at it again, sitting at the Michigan State 38 with a big 3rd down ahead.

2nd Quarter- Michigan 10, Michigan State 7: The Wolverines take the lead back on a 38-yard field goal by Kenny Allen with 5:34 left in the second quarter. Jake Rudock is now 5-for-7 passing for 50 yards for Michigan.

2nd Quarter- 5:51 left: After a long kickoff return, the Wolverines are driving again with the ball at the Michigan State 20.

2nd Quarter- Michigan 7, Michigan State 7: LJ Scott takes it in from 11 yards out and this game is all tied up with 7:06 to play in the first half. The Spartans moved down the field mostly on the strength of the Connor Cook to Aaron Burbridge connection. Cook has 85 passing yards, 66 of those are to Burbridge.

2nd Quarter- Michigan 7, Michigan State 0: Sione Houma goes right up the middle for a two-yard touchdown run to give the Wolverines the lead with 13:13 left in the first half. Houma’s first run of the game went for 27 yards on the first play of the scoring drive.

End of 1st Quarter: The teams remain scoreless after 15 minutes of play. The Spartans have 92 yards of total offense to the Wolverines’ 45. Michigan ran only seven offensive plays in the quarter after Michigan State’s long drive through the middle of the quarter but is at the Spartans’ 23 to begin the second quarter.

1st Quarter- 2:04 left: Michigan State goes for it on 4th down and can’t convert and their over eight-minute drive ends up netting them no points. Connor Cook has thrown for 76 yards while Aaron Burbridge has four catches for 57 yards already for the Spartans, who may regret not scoring on that possession.

1st Quarter- 4:26 left: The Wolverines commit a key penalty on 3rd-and-18 and also the Spartans to continue their long drive in the waning minutes of the opening quarter.

1st Quarter- 10:17 left: The two teams have to punt on their first possessions. It may not be a defensive game all afternoon long but early on, the defense has come to play for both sides.

Pregame

The game of the season in the State of Michigan is minutes from getting underway in Ann Arbor as Michigan hosts Michigan State. The weather is cold and breezy for this one but that shouldn’t have a huge effect on how this game goes. Connor Cook has thrown 12 touchdowns to go with just two interceptions for the Spartans while Jake Rudock has to improve on his stats for this season with five touchdowns and six interceptions. Michigan has shut out their last three opponents but will have a hard time doing that again in this game.

The Iowa Hawkeyes walked into Saturday’s Big Ten Conference showdown with the Northwestern Wildcats looking at their last huge test against a ranked opponent this season. Akrum Wadley made sure that Iowa would be making the trip home happy as he scored four touchdowns and tied a school record in the process during a 40-10 beating of Northwestern at Ryan Field in Evanston.

Wadley, who was replacing an injured Jordan Manzeri, scored from 35 yards out and again from four yards out early in the second quarter and added two more short scores in the third quarter within 1:26 of each other to put the game out of reach.

Northwestern did attempt a first half rally after trailing 16-0 with a touchdown pass from Clayton Thorson to Christian Jones followed by a Jack Mitchell field goal to make it 16-10 at the half but Wadley was simply too much in the second half for Northwestern to handle as he finished with 204 yards rushing for the day. C.J. Beathard was 15-for-25 through the air for 176 yards for Iowa while Thorson was 17-for-35 for 125 yards, a touchdown and an interception.

The 7-0 Hawkeyes will take next week off before hosting Maryland on October 31. Northwestern, who fell to 5-2 on the season with the loss, will hit the road next Saturday to face Nebraska in a game that will start at noon in Lincoln.

As you can see by the tragic Twittering above, the University of Idaho couldn’t get the Vandals out to today’s game in Troy, Alabama, against the Troy Trojans until 3 am this morning. That’s a rough start for a team that’s been having a pretty unexceptional year already.

But, amazingly enough, the Vandals managed to rally on the field with a final 19-16 victory. That’s against all kinds of odds–even with the Trojans having their own lousy season. To be fair, though, Troy U also did some impressive rallying to get the final score that close. No one knew how this was going to end until the final seconds.

It’s possible the Vandals were getting sleepy there toward the end. Good thing they could kneel out the final few seconds. We’re still thinking that sleep deprivation is going to be a big part of the Vandals playbook for the rest of their season. It’s a bold strategy, Cotton, but let’s see if it keeps paying off for ’em…

Texas A&M came into their home game against Alabama on Saturday afternoon with high hopes of knocking off the Crimson Tide and making sure they were out of the national championship race. The Aggies though didn’t expect the explosion that they ran into from the Tide defense though as Alabama scored three touchdowns from interception returns and took home a 41-23 win at Kyle Field.

It all started on a 33-yard interception return by Minkah Fitzpatrick and Alabama running back Derrick Henry added to the lead and more with a 55-yard touchdown run later in the quarter and would add a six-yard run early in the second quarter to make it 21-3. Texas A&M would rally though from a 28-6 deficit on a 68-yard punt return by Christian Kirk and a three-yard touchdown pass from Kyle Allen to Ricky Seals-Jones but the interception bug was simply too much and Fitzpatrick added a second pick-6 with 5:18 to go to seal the Alabama win.

Jake Coker went 19-for-25 for 138 yards passing for Alabama while Henry rushed 32 times for 236 yards and two touchdowns. Allen went 20-for-40 for 263 yards with three interceptions for the Aggies while Seals-Jones had six catches for 107 yards. Alabama improves to 6-1 with the win while Texas A&M drops to 5-1 with the defeat.

Saturday Night Live last night was supposed to be all about Tracy Morgan returning to the show as a celebration of recovering from that car wreck–but it ended up being all about Larry David during the cold open. As expected, it was a take on the Democratic Presidential Candidate Debate earlier this week. Nobody expected to see Larry David showing up as old socialist Bernie Sanders, though, alongside Hillary Clinton (as expected, played by Kate McKinnon), Jim Webb (a pretty good surprise with Alec Baldwin), Lincoln Chafee (in what will be one of the few appearances as the candidate by Kyle Mooney) and Martin O’Malley (ditto for Taran Killam).

Yeah, the crowd went wild. Take a look for yourself…

In another bonus for sleepy people, Tracy Morgan’s monologue was then the other best thing about the show–courtesy of a 30 Rock episode that was shown, bringing back Baldwin, plus Tina Fey, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Krakowski. The actual monologue was kind of sappy, but this is still fun. Too bad about Larry stealing Tracy’s thunder, though…

The Florida Gators and LSU Tigers went into Saturday night’s SEC showdown both looking to remain undefeated. When all was said and done, it was the power of Tigers running back Leonard Fournette that took over the day again. Fournette finished with 180 rushing yards and two touchdowns and a fourth quarter touchdown by Trent Domingue was the difference as LSU scored a 35-28 win to remain undefeated for the season. Florida, who fell to 6-1, had an early 7-0 lead on a touchdown pass from Treon Harris to Jake McGee but LSU scored the next three touchdowns including the two by Fournette. After LSU took a 28-14 lead into the locker room, the Gators responded with two touchdowns in the third quarter to tie the game at 28 before the Domingue touchdown to win it.

Harris, who took over for the suspended Will Grier, went 17-for-32 passing for 271 yards and two touchdowns for the Gators while Kelvin Taylor was held to just 25 yards rushing on 15 carries. Brandon Harris went 13-for-19 for 202 yards and two touchdowns for LSU. The Tigers will play at home against Western Kentucky next week in non-conference play as they improve their playoff standing. The Gators will have the week off before playing Georgia on Oct. 31.

When USC and Notre Dame get together, it is usually a battle to the finish. Saturday night’s game in South Bend between the two teams was no different. The two teams combined to score 31 points in the first quarter and 48 overall in the first half as they went to the break tied at 24. Cody Kessler hit Taylor McNamara for a four-yard touchdown midway through the third quarter to give the Trojans a 31-24 lead and made the fans nervous at Notre Dame Stadium. However, C.J. Prosise would score just 40 seconds into the fourth quarter and DeShone Kizer threw a ten-yard touchdown pass to Corey Robinson with 9:06 left to give Notre Dame the lead for good as the Irish improved to 6-1 for the season.

Prosise finished with 143 rushing yards and two touchdowns in 19 carries while Kizer was 15-for-24 passing for 227 yards and two touchdowns. Kessler went 30-for-46 for 365 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions for USC, who fell to 3-3 for the season. The Irish have next week off before traveling to Temple on October 31 for their next game. The Trojans face a test at home next week against Utah, who was ranked No. 4 in the country coming into this week.

Police say that one person is dead and four injured after the shootings last night at ZombiCon 2015 in Fort Myers, Florida. That’s a bad start to the horror convention season that’ll have us traveling around next weekend. ZombiCon is a really big convention, and it’s too easy to imagine the chaos when real gunfire broke out while a huge crowd of zombies was wandering around the city last night.

In fairness to the zombies, the shooting might have been entirely unrelated to zombie antics–but the setting is still really unfortunate. Especially since it leads to official statements that begin like this…

It’s just kind of weird, but a lot of Florida zombie veterans are complaining that the ZombiCon was kind of waiting for a disaster like this to happen, with the local cops never being much help. Those are charges that might continue in the aftermatch–but for now, here’s a clip where people are only threatened with harm…

Let’s take a break from marveling at college football’s wildest plays to appreciate how Jose Bautista managed a walk instead of concussion during Toronto’s game on Friday in the American League Championship Series against the Kansas City Royals. The guy did a fine job of dodging an inside fastball and living another day–as you can see recreated over and over again below.

Also, take some time to appreciate how Bautista uses that weird pigment ink to fill in his beard so that it looks painted on to his face. We’re not sure how that became a thing. From this angle, though, that ball still looks close enough to have taken that beard right off of him…

Star Wars: The Force Awakens has had a busy day of marketing. The original poster has been out for a while, but the movie has also graced us with two teaser trailers. Like, seriously teaser trailers–in the sense that it’s just a glimpse of action, but still pretty exciting stuff.

The first one goes on a decent amount, and mainly seems to be about introducing new characters .We also get yet another establishing shot of a villain from early on…

And this trailer is just about over before you realize what you’re watching–but it’s exciting stuff…

Tricketen Bickford, a 19-year-old student at Indiana University, was arrested late Saturday night after allegedly attacking a Muslim woman and biting a police officer. Witnesses say the assault was racially motivated.

Police were called to the Sofra Cafe around 7:45 after Bickford started shouting derogatory phrases and racial slurs at a Muslim sitting in the cafe with her 9-year-old daughter.

Bickford allegedly shouted “white power” and “kill them all” before grabbing the woman by the neck and slamming her head down onto the table. He also attempted to remove her head scarf.

Bickford was then pinned down by the woman’s husband and another man until police arrived at the scene. The student continued to make threats and spit in the man’s faces during the wait.

When officers arrived, Bickford kicked at the windows of the police car and bit an officer’s lower leg. His BAC was 0.195.

Bickford faces one count of intimidation, public intoxication, two counts of misdemeanor battery, one count of felony-level batter, minor consumption of alcohol, and strangulation.

His bond was set at $2,000 surety, $500 cash.

Lindsay Lohan is making a comeback – as a 2020 presidential hopeful.

The presumably unstable actress made the announcement on her Instagram account over the weekend and thanked Kanye West – who announced his own bid during an incredibly lengthy VMAs speech – for the inspiration.

Considering Lohan has had more than a few issues with the law, we see a few issues with this. But on the bright side, she’s looking very presidential in her official Instagram announcement:

Boston University officials are asking students to keep their dorm rooms locked at all times after a recent assault on campus.

According to university police, a stranger walked into a student’s dorm room and sexually assaulted her. The student did not know who the man was.

The attacker quickly fled the scene and his location is currently unknown.

Students say a student ID must be used to enter a residence hall and guests are required to sign in with the front desk, insinuating that the attacker was somehow related to a BU student.

Students are asked to keep their doors locked and report any suspicious activity.
