James Corden debuted as host on The Late Late Show last night, and–according to CBS’ schedule–he’s only doing three episodes this week. That means you can probably catch his first show again later this week. That’ll include his first guests as Tom Hanks and Mila Kunis in a pretty interesting format that’ll be familiar to people who watch talk shows out of the UK, with all the guests on as a panel.

The Late Late Show debut was also all about scoring viral videos, of course, and we think James is on to something with this 8-minute recreation of all of Tom Hanks’ movies. Well, not all of them. Utah is bringing back the firing squad thanks to Governor Gary Herbert, whom signed a bill into law Monday afternoon that allows the state to use the method as an alternative when lethal injection drugs are not available. The state’s last firing squad execution took place in 2010 after having the option requested by an inmate awaiting death row.

Marty Carpenter, a spokesperson for Herbert, explained in a statement, “Those who voiced opposition to this bill are primarily arguing against capital punishment in general and that decision has already been made in our state… We regret anyone ever commits the heinous crime of aggravated murder to merit the death penalty and we prefer to use our primary method of lethal injection when such a sentence is issued. However, when a jury makes the decision and a judge signs a death warrant, enforcing that lawful decision is the obligation of the executive branch.”

According to the AP, Utah isn’t alone in their alternative methods:

In Washington state, inmates can request hanging. In New Hampshire, hangings are fallback if lethal injections can’t be given. And an Oklahoma law would allow the state to use firing squads if lethal injections and electrocutions are ever declared unconstitutional.

Currently the state does not have lethal injection drugs on hand despite having numerous inmates on death row.

Ohio University is in the middle of “Fest Season”–arguably the greatest time for a college student in the nation. The OU students throw multiple day ragers that all lead up to #Fest (Number Fest), a massive concert that will feature Diplo, School Boy Q, G-Eazy, Borgeous, ILoveMakkonen, and much more.

Unfortunately, as much as we love to follow U of L’s cheerleading squad and dance team, they don’t make it very easy on social media.  The Cardinals cheerleaders have a Facebook page that is poorly updated and no other outlets to our knowledge.  The Louisville Ladybird Dance Team has a pretty good Facebook page, but their Twitter page is poorly executed and Instagram is non-existent.

It’s a sad day for movie-goers everywhere. After 2016, we will no longer see Jennifer Lawrence wearing nothing but blue body paint.

The 24-year-old Oscar-winner announced her X-Men exit in an interview with MTV. J. Law has played the character of Mystique in the last two films: X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. Her final go-around will be in X-Men: Apocalypse, which will be released in May of next year.

The rugby team at University of Mary Washington has been suspended indefinitely after a derogatory chant was brought to the university’s attention. During a party at the rugby house (in which only 8 members of the team were allegedly present), attendees enthusiastically sang the well-known pub song while another party goer took out their phone and recorded it.

Adnan Syed, the subject of the insanely popular podcast Serial, is requesting a new trial.

The 34-year-old Baltimore native is serving a life sentence for the 1999 death of his girlfriend Hae Min Lee. Syed gained national recognition after reporter Sarah Koenig started investigating the case several years prior, and eventually broadcasting her findings on a weekly podcast.

Syed’s appeal was granted last month after two previous requests for appeal were denied. His current lawyers Justin Brown and Kasha Lesse blame Syed’s incarceration on his late lawyer, Christina Gutierrez.

In their brief, the pair argued, “The errors committed by trial counsel were of such a fundamental nature that Syed must be given a new trial” and further mentioned that the testimony of a key prosecutorial witness “was riddled with inconsistencies.”

Super Troopers 2 is so close we can almost taste the maple syrup oozing down our throats. The guys from Broken Lizard (Jay Chandrasekhar, Paul Soter, Steve Lemme, Erik Stolhanske, and Kevin Heffernan) have finished the script for Super Troopers 2 and shot this teaser trailer in an attempt to fundraise the film.
