It’s not Thanksgiving. It’s not Christmas. It’s not Hannukah. It’s not Kwanza. It’s not even Festivus. What the weekend upon us is, in fact, is the final moment to enjoy any sense of non-holiday-madness for the next five weeks. Make it count.

The final full weekend of regular season NFL play features, among the usual onslaught, high-stakes showdowns with the Redskins at the 49ers, the Patriots at the Lions, and the Dolphins at the Broncos. College football is also gearing up for Thursday’s big game day, but don’t miss the Boston College Eagles at Florida State Seminoles on Saturday.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 soundtrack

According to hipster music outpost Pitchfork, “There are few safe choices on Mockingjay, one of the most thrilling soundtracks for a blockbuster film series in recent memory.” The album certainly provides a ready-to-spin playlist of super-contemporary alterna-pop, with Charlie XXC, Tove Lo, Chvrches, Bat for Lashes, and Lord (two times). There’s also a wildcard number from ’80s club icon and Bond girl Grace Jones. If you don’t know already, Google what Grace Jones looks like: do you think those Hunger Games kids would stand a chance against her?

Lilyhammer: Season 3 on Netflix

Steven Van Zandt, who famously played strip-club owner Silvio Dante on The Sopranos, heats up Norway again with his New Jersey gangster charm in season three of Lilyhammer. The very first Netflix original series is a riotously funny fish-out-of-toxic-waste story, and Van Zandt is perfect as a mobster in the land of the ice and snow and the midnight sun and unimaginably polite people.

Davis Cup Final

Swiss tennis monster Roger Federer aims to score a first-time Davis Cup victory over France in a best-of-five championship series being played on French clay all weekend long. Even with 17 grand slam singles wins and a 2008 Olympic gold medal under his belt, Federer still doesn’t have that Davis Cup title. By Sunday, that may (or may not) be history.

Shout! Factory releases two Stephen King cult classics directed by zombie maestro George A. Romero on Blu-ray, each of which provides new chills in high definition. Monkey Shines (1988) chronicles a quadriplegic athlete whose helper monkey, Ella, becomes overly protective—as in, lethally so. The Dark Half (1993) stars Timothy Hutton as a writer whose evil persona on the page becomes so powerful that he comes to life, with an interest in bringing death to all those around him.

V/H/S: Viral

The third entry in the popular cult horror film series V/H/S opens Friday in theaters, while it also becomes available via Video on Demand. As with V/H/S (2012) and V/H/S 2 (2013), V/H/S Viral is an anthology of found footage terror shorts. The stories here include an evil magician, an unexpected portal to a horrific alternate dimension, and teenage skateboarders who run afoul of a Mexican death cult.

Islanders at Penguins

When last New York met Pittsburgh on the ice, the Penguins decisively beat the Islanders 3-1, and last year the birds won all three matchups. That’s a lot for the Islanders to face down tonight, making it all the more compelling to see if this is the moment where their bad pucking luck turns around.

Cartoonishly long-limbed British funnyman Stephen Merchant is best known as the creative partner of Ricky Gervais and, unfortunately, not really known at all for starring solo in last year’s hilarious HBO series, Hello Ladies. The saga of a too-tall UK dork striking out with women repeatedly in Los Angeles was a masterwork of cringe comedy and, graciously, HBO is giving Merchant’s creation a proper send-off on Saturday night with the series-concluding Hello Ladies: The Movie.

Boston College Eagles at Florida State Seminoles

The Eagles host the undefeated Seminoles, so if hope for a Boston victory seems dim, that may be all the more reason we could possibly see an upset as Thanksgiving looms. Still, Florida State is favored by 20.5 points, so it may be all about beating the spread. Either way, prepare for a delightfully nerve-wracking game.

Our nation’s capitol flows with liquid cold this Saturday as 75 breweries bust out 150 hops-and-barley creations at the DC Craft Beer Festival: Winter Harvest. The event’s Grand Tasting goes down in two sessions, one beginning at 1pm, the other beginning at 6pm, wherein participants pick up a cup and get set loose among the taps. Three cheers for the red, white, and brew.

Florida hoops gets no hotter than when Miami battles Orlando, even when both teams are looking relatively limp at game time. The 6-6 Magic obviously has an edge on the 5-8 Heat, but the season is young and this could be the moment between rivals that ignites a hot streak—or two.

The 42nd annual AMAs, hosted by Pitbull, will be rolling out a barrage of pop superstars, past and (overwhelmingly) present. Among those scheduled to perform are Taylor Swift, Lorde, Charlie XCX, T.I., Imagine Dragons, Iggy Azalea (twice) and, hang on to your ten-gallon hat, Garth Brooks.

NFL Sunday

Redskins at 49ers. Patriots at Lions. Dolphins at Broncos. These are the games (along with all the others being played on Sunday) that set up the high-stakes road to the Super Bowl that kicks off, for real, on Thanksgiving. No matter what your fantasy roster looks like at this point, the specter of post-season madness is coming down fast. Will you make it? Will any of us? Yeah, but it’s pretty fun to freak out in the process.

It’s another work week wrapping up at the COED offices, and nothing has kept us warm during this wintery weather like the COED Instagram Feed–where we’ve gotten plenty hot over bathing beauties who keep up the good work as bikini models. Today’s been no different, even if we’re pretty sure that Charlotte McKinney (above, of course) and Portia Watznauer aren’t wearing traditional swimwear.

That doesn’t bother us at all–and neither does Jenna Sims’ unconventional bikini. We’re pretty fond of how Mariah Longo has found a way to sun her sideboob, too. And if you need something more classical, then check out the lady in lingerie who’s now calling herself Jesse J. We’re pretty sure that you’ll still recognize her from the name that originally made her a star.

Back to the Future Part II opened twenty-five years ago today, on November 22, 1989. So come on, everybody, toss on your self-lacing Nikes and hop on your hoverboards and let’s celebrate!

Ah, well… yes, we’re still waiting for a couple of the coolest inventions predicted by the blockbuster. Still, there’s no reason to give up hope yet: Nike not long ago announced it was working on those automatic lacer-uppers and–according to this Kickstarter campaign–your own working Hoverboards will be a gravity-defying reality soon.

While it’s the twenty-fifth anniversary of Back to the Future II blowing humanity’s mind on first impact, the action in the movie itself actually takes place on October 21, 2015.

Now we’ve all seen (and, okay, maybe even posted) Facebook declarations over the past few years containing some variation on the happy declaration, “Today is the day Marty McFly arrives to battle Future Biff in Back to the Future II!” These posts are almost always accompanied by a photo of that day’s date appearing on the time setting inside Doc Brown’s DeLorean—and they are always fake, whether the person sharing it intended it to be or not.

The incorrect “Today is Back to the Future II Day” meme proved so popular that some prankster even set up a website so you can generate a bogus Doc Brown clock and fool your friends…

Have fun with that for the next eleven months. In the meantime, get ready for the big day next year when not only will Marty McFly gets here from 1985, but we can actually great him with those sneakers and a Hoverboard. The holographic Jaws 19, however, will probably still not be ready to play at the local multiplex.

The only game worth watching this week is the storied rivalry between USC and UCLA. Not just because it seems every other team is playing some FCS (read: bad) football team, but because these two schools host some of the greatest cheerleading squads in the nation.

As we’re once again awash in snowy weather coverage, let’s remember a highlight from the coverage of the winter of 2013. A valiant reporter was covering school closings and other weather chaos in Boston as some real news unfolded right behind him–meaning what pretty much looked like a drug deal right over his shoulder.

Yeah, that was cool. We’re still thinking that enough time has passed for us to just consider that the whole thing was staged. It’s a little too perfectly framed and obvious–and we say that as people who see drug deals going on all the times in parks and clubs. It’s still funny, though. If those two guys had been around this year, one of them would’ve just shouted, “FHRITP!”

Also, this video is fascinating because of the guy who’s just hanging around and videotaping his television. How does that work? Are snow days really that boring in Boston? At least he’s appreciative of the two savvy news anchors trying to keep a straight face when the camera cuts back from the live feed. Anyway, check it out, and let’s hope for more fun moments like this in the upcoming winter coverage…

HBO wraps up Stephen Merchant’s Hello Ladies tonight with a big finale called Hello Ladies: The Movie–and that’s kind of interesting. We don’t think HBO has ever wrapped up a series like this before. Maybe the network just felt bad for canceling the show featuring Merchant, who’s now still best known as the co-creator of the original UK version of The Office. Merchant managed to win over some American fans (like with his lip-sync skills), but Hello Ladies never took off as a series about a creepy British guy trying to score in Los Angeles. [photo via...]

Hello, Ladies sure scored with some sexy cast members, though. Merchant brought in lots of sexy babes to the show, including Jessica Sonneborn, Bree Condon, and Natalia Urgrina. Hello Ladies: The Movie also scores big with Stephanie Corneliessen, who caught our eye on an episode of Royal Pains last summer. It turns out that we’d somehow missed out on this Danish beauty as a sexy sand witch–um, desert witch in Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, but we’d sure seen her in an anonymous turn as a creepy beauty in an ad campaign for American Horror Story.

Maybe American Horror Story will catch on to bringing Stephanie into a cast someday. For now, let’s enjoy this Copenhagen stunner on a good show that’s going out quietly. Check out these pics, though, and you’ll see why Stephanie can still take it out with a bang…

Cameron Diaz hosted Saturday Night Live last night, and it sure started like a disaster. We could do without ever seeing another opening monologue built around audience questions. There was also a forced Annie sketch to plug an upcoming film that won’t mean much to SNL viewers. Cameron was still fun, and had lots of opportunities to show off the comic shamelessness that helped make her a movie star.

Cameron also joined Kate McKinnon, Cecily Strong, Sasheer Zamata, Vanessa Bayer, Leslie Jones, Cameron Diaz and Lil’ Baby Aidy Bryant on the night’s best sketch–which kind of revisited the genius of last year’s holiday-themed “(Do It On My) Twin Bed.” That one celebrated the awkwardness of having sex while being home at Christmas. “Back Home Ballers” is yet another parody (what used to be the SNL fashion of mostly white) suburbanites affecting hip-hop poses.

It’s kind of sad when SNL types like Andy Samberg still have to rely on white guys rapping about white things as a comic device, but “Back Home Ballers” works specifically because of the subject matter. So take a look at what’s looking to be a holiday tradition for this generation of SNL…

The humble “vape” was chosen as Word of the Year by the staff of the Oxford English Dictionary, and we like how they think over there. After all, the 2013 Word of the Year was “selfie,” which gave us a chance to celebrate the word’s sexiest definition. Now we can do the same for the inhaling and exhaling of the vapor produced by an electronic cigarette or similar device.

That’s no surprise, right? Everybody knows that some guys get really turned on by (literally) smoking girls. Vaping produces a lot more steam with a lot less ill health effects. Well, the health thing is debatable, but there’s no doubt that a lot of girls look totally illin’ while vaping. That’s a lot of steam to add to a steamy pic, and we have plenty of photos of that smoke curling all over hot bodies.

You’ll also find a few gals just curling up with the vape pipe, and there are a lot worse pipes that you’d want to catch a smokin’ gal holding. Take a look for yourself, and be grateful that it’s not just hot Women who can Win a Week…

The (eternally?) ongoing science-fiction powerhouse TV series Doctor Who made its BBC debut on November 23, 1963, and planet Earth has been a more enjoyably bizarre place ever since.

The Doctor, as the hero is actually named, is a galaxy-tripping Time Lord from an alien planet who explores every freaky nook of the universe in a wonky spacecraft called the TARDIS which, as luck would have it, looks like an early ’60s British police emergency telephone booth.

As The Doctor can, and does, frequently change his human appearance, the character has been portrayed by twelve different actors. The original, William Hartnell, was something of an aristocrat, while the current, unprecedentedly popular incarnation, as played by Peter Capaldi, is cheeky and roguish (to keep it in very British terms). The ten Docs in between have been a mixed bag of oddness.

Most famous among The Doctor’s crackpot adversaries are the Daleks, octopus-like brain creatures who cruise around in high-tech trashcan-looking armored vehicles and who can be defeated by whacking their eyeballs with cricket bats. Keep that technique in mind should you meet one (especially if it’s just some dude doing cosplay).

Prior to its current version, Doctor Who initially made its greatest impact stateside in the 1970s, when the titular hero was played by Tom Baker as a curly-haired sad-sack with a too-long proto-Harry-Potter scarf. That stage of Doctor Who also made the show’s eerie electronic theme song a worldwide semi-sensation, introducing many listeners to synth-pop and freaking out a lot of dogs who were sitting too close to TV speakers.

As Doctor Who has grown in sophistication and intensity over the past half-century, so, too, have fans of both the series and the character. Check out this gallery of Doctor Who devotees. If you’re not a Doctor Who devotee, it’ll still be pretty amazing–and considering the number of femme fans out there, it couldn’t hurt to recognize a Doctor Who tattoo when you see one…

Here’s the teaser trailer for Jurassic World–and we know that we’ve complained in the past about teaser trailers that go on forever, but this is a serious teaser trailer that only provides a few images. They’re cool images, though. From the very brief glimpses that we see here, it looks like Jurassic World is performing just fine. The mayhem of Jurassic Park seems forgotten amongst the happy people seen frolicking with dinosaurs here. Maybe Jurassic World will just be a fun film about a really cool amusement park of the future.

Except that Chris Pratt sure seems concerned about something going on here. Maybe it’s just that he wants to have a serious word with the wardrobe lady–except that Bruce Dallas Howard also seems concerned. Or is that Judy Greer? They’re both in the movie, and it can be hard to tell them apart. You’d think the casting director would’ve noticed that.

Kelly Brook–born unto this world November 23, 1979–got her start as one of England’s sexiest pinup girls. Kelly picked up lots of fans with her recurring role on The CW’s Smallville series way back in 2002. She hit the big screen in American multiplexes with the next year’s The Italian Job, followed by plenty more amazing roles–including a self-parodying turn as one of the luscious ladies serving as bait in Piranha 3DD.

That role helped Kelly get appreciated for some comic skills. She did great work on Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV, and we’re very excited to see her about to star with Brooke Lyons in the upcoming lesbian sitcom One Big Happy. We’ll be even more excited if the producers use the notes that we’ve sent them. Rolling Stone recently published a devastating article called, “A Rape on Campus: A Brutal Assault and Struggle for Justice at UVA“–and now the repercussions are rolling at the University of Virginia. As Rolling Stone is reporting, Sabrina Rubin Erdely’s article inspired plenty of correspondence from other UVA students, and now UVA President Teresa A. Sullivan has announced that the entire UVA fraternity system is shutting down through the rest of the year, as seen in this excerpt from her address:

This morning the Inter-Fraternity Council announced that all University fraternities have voluntarily suspended social activities this weekend. This is an important first step, but our challenges will extend beyond this weekend. Beginning immediately, I am suspending all fraternal organizations and associated social activities until January 9th, ahead of the beginning of our spring semester. In the intervening period we will assemble groups of students, faculty, alumni, and other concerned parties to discuss our next steps in preventing sexual assault and sexual violence on Grounds. On Tuesday, the Board of Visitors will meet to discuss the University’s policies and procedures regarding sexual assault as well as the specific, recent allegations.

The investigation will certainly be welcome, especially as the details of the article (and the alleged 2012 assault at UVA’s Phi Kappa Psi  house) continue to be debated. Rolling Stone‘s original piece has already produced weirdness in the comments, with one person posting the name of all the current members of the Phi Kappa Psi branch following the article. That was followed by death threats against the Phi Kappa Psi members.

At this point, it’s hard to imagine what other steps could have been taken by President Sullivan in the wake of a media firestorm. Rolling Stone has certainly reopened the case, and bizarre internet commentary can’t change how important it’s now become to know there’s a full investigation.

Well, the singularly-named sex symbol is from Albania, where nobody’s ever explained that the letter “q” is always followed by “u.” Bleona’s actually been an international star for almost a decade, and some of us lucky New Yorkers actually got to see her performing in clubs even before she came to the US permanently in 2009. She hasn’t become a major star in the States yet, but Bleona’s been working with major producers like Timbaland and David Foster.

Bleona’s been a citizen since 2011, and it’s only been a few weeks since she launched her reality show on Bravo. It’s about the brave Albanian still trying to break through big in the music biz. We’re thinking that this AMA dress is part of the strategy. Odell Beckham, Jr made the (very likely) NFL Catch of the Year on Sunday night, and it looks like he busted out some superpowers while making the play. It was the New York Giants up against the Dallas Cowboys, and the first play of the second quarter. Eli Manning has the ball 50 yards in the air, and Beckham decided to show off for the crowd at MetLife stadium by defying gravity with a touchdown catch at the end of his fingertips.

It took the crowd a while to even appreciate what they’d just seen. The more we stare at this, the more we’re convinced that Beckham made this catch with just three fingers. See for yourself…

Yeah, that’s a three-finger catch. We haven’t seen anyone do so much with three fingers since that mutant in the Wrong Turn movies. Now let’s watch that catch (from another angle) again and again in GIF form, because you don’t have to be a football fan to appreciate this kind of vintage football moment. With the Buffalo Bills having to leave town to play their game against the New York Jets at Detroit’s Ford Field on Monday night, the Lions made free tickets available for the game and had hoped to sell the 500 free tickets for five hours on Sunday. Within 10 minutes though, all the free tickets were gone and people were scalping them for $125 apiece. [photo: Leon Halip/Getty]

It brings about the biggest problem with an event like this. If this game is in Buffalo, there would have been no free tickets to get. In this day and age of everyone looking for a profit though, any chance to make a few dollars or $125 will be taken even if the tickets were supposed to be free so maybe fans who can’t afford to go normally could do it.

There was a bit of hospitality given by the Lions organization to let the Bills play at Ford Field. There probably was no reason to try to make a dollar off the tickets. With the Bills already in Detroit, it’s too bad that the Thanksgiving game on Thursday won’t be between the two teams as what could have happened with the normal NFL schedule rotation. Buffalo wouldn’t have needed to leave town after the game then and those scalpers would have had nowhere else to go to make a buck.
