A Texas high school teacher has been removed from campus after allegedly making pornography “visible” to students during class, which made a disturbed student to report it, school officials and police said.

Police in La Porte were notified of the incident after a student was “alarmed by what they saw” on the personal laptop of a male teacher at La Porte High School on Tuesday, Sgt. Bennie Boles told the New York Post.

What Happened?

A male teacher at La Porte High School is accused of having pornography on a laptop in his classroom, and now he might face misdemeanor charges.

The teacher was barred from the classroom after a student reported seeing pornography material that was displayed on his laptop.

Kira Lackey-Thompson, a mother of one of his students, is hurt and angry after learning about the accusations.

“That is a private thing, and I understand that people have their private things that they do. It’s an adult thing,” Lackey-Thompson told KPRC. “There is a time and place. In my child’s classroom, during school hours, my child in the classroom? Not the time and place.”

La Porte Police Department told ABC13 it anticipates filing a Class C misdemeanor charge against the teacher for “obscene display or distribution.”

The penalty for the Class C misdemeanor is typically a fine of less than $500 with no jail time, Sgt. Bennie Boles said.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office declined to accept another charge for “display of harmful material to a minor,” police said on Wednesday, January 16.

School officials said in a statement that the teacher had been immediately removed from the campus pending the outcome of an investigation.

“The matter was referred to the La Porte Police Department,” the statement read. “The outcome of its preliminary investigation and conversation with the District Attorney’s office is that the District Attorney is not inclined to press charges.”

The Incident Was Captured On Snapchat

According to ABC13, students at the high school are circulating a video from Snapchat which allegedly shows the incident.

In the six-second video, the teacher is seen walking away from his desk to help a student, while another student goes behind the teacher’s desk to record the teacher’s open laptop.

Lackey-Thompson, whose son did not record the teacher, also questioned whether the incident was the first time.

“How long has he been doing it?” Lackey-Thompson asked. “How many other kids have seen it and didn’t say anything? If you feel comfortable enough to watch pornography in a classroom full of underage children this is not the profession for you.”

The teacher, who was not identified by school officials, will remain on leave with pay until the probe is complete.

27-year-old Washinton State man Nick Naydev had to learn that lesson the hard way after he was forced to find (and more importantly, pay) his own way home from the Bahamas because Royal Caribbean banned him after he jumped off the side of one of their cruise ships.

Naydev was on a Royal Caribbean cruise that was docked in Nassau, Bahamas when he decided to jump from the eleventh floor into the ocean below — an estimated 100 feet drop.

After the jump, Naydev was banned from the Royal Caribbean cruise line “for life” and was forced to pay his own way home to Vancouver, Washington from the Bahamas.

Naydev provided the following statement to Fox 13 Tampa Bay:

“I am truly astonished at how this video has spread throughout the internet. I did not think this through before I jumped. My idea was this would be a good laugh for my friends and I would just swim back to shore and continue my vacation and never thought this would be this serious. When the security caught up with me they told me and my friends that we needed to pack our bags and leave the ship immediately and were not welcome on any of their cruise ships again.

Local police in Nassau, Bahamas were called in to pick us up from the ship, but fortunately the police thought the whole situation was amusing and did not proceed to file any legal actions. I jumped from the 11th floor and the height must have been well over 100ft.

I just hope I don’t inspire anyone to try this, because I don’t want to feel responsible for any injuries.”

While Royal Caribbean has yet to provide an official comment, it’s safe to assume that they probably don’t find passengers jumping off the side of their ships too assuming.

Details are beginning to surface regarding Mortal Kombat 11 and a famous star is set to voice one of the characters. On Thursday, January 17, it was announced that former UFC women’s bantamweight champion and current WWE Women’s Raw Champion Ronda Rousey will be starring in the game as Sonya Blade.

The game is a sequel to Mortal Kombat X which was released back in 2015.

NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment are targeting an April 23, 2019, release date. The game — which will feature single-player and multiplayer modes — will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Microsoft Windows.

Those who pre-order the game will unlock the playable character Shao Kahn.

The news was announced during the official Mortal Kombat 11 reveal.

Rousey was undefeated in her mixed martial arts career through 2015, before losing the UFC title to Holly Holm at UFC 193 on November 14, 2015. She returned to action more than a year later, on December 30, 2016, but suffered a second consecutive knockout loss to current UFC women’s bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes.

After her second loss, Rousey decided to retire from the UFC and took her talents to the squared circle.

Rousey signed with the WWE in 2018 and made her first appearance at SummerSlam. Her in-ring debut came at WrestleMania 34.

Officials have fired a New Jersey school bus aide who was captured on video using profanities and threatening a 10-year-old boy.

District spokesperson Gary Miller said the confrontation happened Monday, January 14 as the bus was dropping off children from Linden Public School No. 2.

What Happened?

An elementary school student recorded the women on Monday, whom aggressively confronting a classmate and arguing with him about his behavior as the bus was dropping off children from Linden Public School No. 2.

“You must act like that to your parents,” the unidentified 58-year-old worker said. “I bet they beat your ass every night. I know your father does.” The aide also told the boy that he’s “gonna be sorry,” according to the footage obtained by NJ.com.

The woman can be heard telling the kid, “Say it again, Call me a b**ch again. How dare you. I’ll put your f**king head through that window if you say it again.”

During the spat, there was a “brief physical altercation,” the police told Yahoo Lifestyle. Witnesses reported that the student also used profanity while arguing back, although it is unclear what provoked the incident.

Linden School’s Superintendent Danny Robertozzi confirmed that the aide was fired immediately after the event to his attention, he also released a statement to Yahoo Lifestyle denouncing her conduct.

“Parents should be able to feel secure in knowing that their children are protected from the time they leave for school until the time they arrive home,” Robertozzi’s statement read. “As a parent and educator, I am appalled at the way our student was treated. This behavior will not be tolerated.”

However, Linden school district spokesman Gary Miller said the aide was not a district employee but was hired through a bus company that the district contracts.

The aide’s name hasn’t been released yet. Police only identified her as a 58-year-old from Roselle. An investigation is ongoing.

Noel is the latest entry into the Mugshot Hall of Fame thanks to his hilarious photo after being arrested for second-degree assault and battery.

According to KNOE News, Noel was arrested in Camden, South Carolina all because of his McDonald’s coffee.

Per the report, Noel was upset that his french fries were taking so long so he decided to throw a hot coffee on a 16-year-old McDonald’s employee. That’s what happens when you ask for fries with no salt. Perhaps he should ask for a visit to the White House to get in on Donald Trump’s fast food buffet.

Police say Joshua Emery Noel had a warrant issued for his arrest on Jan. 11 for second-degree assault and battery after police released surveillance video of him throwing coffee at the 16-year-old employee in late December. Noel surrendered to police on Jan. 16 and admitted to throwing coffee on the employee. He was given a $7,500 bond and is no longer in jail, according to online jail logs.

The State adds:

The 16-year-old victim told officers a man pulled up to the drive-thru window and asked for a large order of French fries “because he was unsatisfied with the service because he was waiting too long,” The State reported previously. He asked to speak to a manager, and after a verbal exchange between them he began “acting obnoxious.”

Stanley Stepanski II, a 48-year-old man Florence, Montana, has been identified as the suspect in a California mass shooting that resulted in the death of a 93-year-old woman. The shooting took place on Tuesday, January 15 in Newcastle, California.

What Happened?

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office arrested Stepanski on Thursday, January 17, after he was identified as the suspect who was responsible for a shooting spree earlier in the week.

According to California investigators, Stepanski had no prior relationship with the 93-year-old victim, who eventually died from the injuries she suffered in the shooting. The victim was identified as Mary Toste.

Following the shooting spree, Stepanski was shot and killed by police.

In addition to Toste, two other people and a K9 police dog were shot and injured. All three are expected to recover.

The shooting began around 7 p.m. Tuesday when a man was seen with a gun, firing off rounds starting in a Newcastle parking lot. The spree ended when he was shot and killed on Interstate 80 near the Highway 65 overpass. He drove a pickup truck through south Placer County, shooting at businesses, vehicles and homes in seven different areas, authorities said.

As he was driving down Rock Springs Road in Penryn, he shot and killed Toste at her door, officials said. Another person was shot while driving in Loomis and went to a fire station for treatment. A third person was shot at but was not hit, authorities said.

Stepanski fled onto Interstate 80 and was killed in a gunbattle with law enforcement after crashing into a center divide, officials said. The K-9 was shot in the flank during the standoff.

Lauren Coyle-Mitchell, a 36-year-old New Jersey teacher, admitted on Wednesday, January 16, that she sexually assaulted a 15-year-old student over three years ago.

According to reports, Coyle-Mitchell — a former second-grade teacher in Jersey City — pleaded guilty in Bergen County Superior Court to aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child after she allegedly sexually assaulted a 15-year-old in her Lyndhurst, New Jersey home three years ago.

Court records indicate that as a result of her plea deal, Coyle-Mitchell faces five years in state prison. Additionally, Coyle-Mitchell faces parole supervision for life and will be required to register as a sex offender after her prison sentence.

Furthermore, as a result of her plea bargain, Coyle-Mitchell is also banned from public employment and must forfeit her teaching certificates.

Coyle-Mitchell previously taught at the Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School in Jersey City, New Jersey.

Coyle-Mitchell worked at Dr. Lena Edwards Academic Charter School in Jersey City and was accused of performing oral sex on the girl in her Lyndhurst home in 2015. Teachers at the school went to Lyndhurst police after a field trip to Washington, D.C. and claimed the teacher had inappropriate contact with the student.

Coyle-Mitchell was charged in June 2015 with aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child. A month later, she was arrested again and accused of breaking a no-contact order by trying to call and text the victim.

In May 2018, the Board of Examiners, the state’s teacher licensing agency, suspended Coyle-Mitchell’s certificates, which included teacher of elementary school and teacher of students with disabilities.

As for why there has been such a significant increase in instances of teachers having inappropriate relationships with students, researchers believe that technology is to blame.

According to a report from the Texas Education Association, smartphones make easy for teachers to privately text and talk with students and also make it possible for teachers and students to share explicit images.

SESAME (Stop Educator Sexual Abuse Misconduct & Exploitation) President Terri Miller echoed that sentiment, stating “before cell phones, we knew who our kids were talking to” but today, “kids have their own phones, they’re taking them to bed, and parents need to watch more.”

Hoffman has been one of many teachers to be charged for inappropriate conduct. Over the course of just a few months, teachers across the United States have been charged, tried, and convicted of various abuse and sex crimes.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

Most recently, teachers such as 29-year-old Haylie Smart, 25-year-old Alaina Ferguson, 26-year-old Amy Nowaczyk, and 32-year-old Laura Bucy were arrested and charged for similar crimes.

Anabelle Lima-Taub, a Florida commissioner, is facing censure she after claimed that Rashida Tlaib, Muslim congresswoman, was a “danger” because she will “become a martyr and blow up Capitol Hill.”

Lima-Taub, a Jewish woman who is a Hallandale Beach Commissioner, previously signed a petition aimed at removing Tlaib, a Democrat from Michigan, from office.

After signing the petition, Lima-Taub shared the link on her Facebook page with the caption “A Hamas-loving anti-Semite has NO place in government! She is a danger and [I] would not put it past her to become a martyr and blow up Capitol Hill.”

Following Lima-Taub’s remarks, Congresswoman Tlaib responded on Twitter, saying ““This sort of hateful anti-Muslim rhetoric doesn’t happen in a vacuum — this President embraced it and Republicans have happily gone along with it.”

Now, as a result of her comments on Facebook, fellow Hallandale Beach Commissioner Michele Lazarow is sponsoring an item on next week’s agenda to officially censure Lima-Taub and condemn her comments, as Lazarow says Lima-Taub’s racist remarks “fuel hatred and create a hostile environment for Hallandale Beach’s Muslim community.”

“While individual commissioners have spoken out against Commissioner Lima-Taub’s hateful and bigoted remarks, I believe we need to take action as a city. I believe we must take action to show all who are watching that Hallandale Beach isn’t a place that tolerates hatred and bigotry,” Hallandale Beach Commissioner Michele Lazarow said in a statement.

Tlaib particularly notable as she is one of the first two Muslim women to ever be elected to the United States Congress.

However, instead of formally apologizing ton Congresswoman Tlaib, Lima-Taub has doubled down on her comments, saying in a phone interview “I do not apologize for my remark,” according to WSVN 7.

In an effort to clarify her comments about Congresswoman Tlaib, Lima-Taub posted a Facebook update on Wednesday, January 16, saying:

“My position on Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has nothing to do with the religion of Islam. Islam itself is a peaceful religion; however, it has been highjacked by radicals who use Islam as a shield to justify and commit terror across the globe.”

Jasmine Edmonds, a 24-year-old former school teacher in Memphis, Tennessee, was arrested and charged after she allegedly had a sexual relationship with an unidentified 16-year-old student.

According to reports, on Thursday, January 17, Edmonds appeared in Tennessee court and was indicted on two counts of sexual battery by an authority figure. Edmonds was placed on administrative leave by the school district in March 2018 when the investigation was launched.

Edmonds was released from prison after posting a $50,000 bond.

The Gestalt Community School District, the district where Edmonds taught, released the following statement after Edmonds’ arrest:

“We were shocked and disappointed when Jasmine Edmond was arrested. She was a new teacher at Power Center Academy , and we performed a thorough background check last summer, which showed no indication of such behavior. She is currently on administrative leave from Gestalt Community Schools pending further investigation. Although we have no knowledge at this time that her behavior impacted any of our scholars, we are doing our own internal due diligence. We will fully assist the Memphis Police Department with their investigation.”

Ariana Grande dropped her new single and music video on Friday, January 18, with “7 Rings.” However, not long after the track went public, Ariana Grande was accused of stealing ideas for the song and the flow that she used on the beat.

One of those to call out Grande was Princess Nokia.

Princess Nokia accused Grande of ripping off her 2017 song “Mine.”

When you compare the two songs, Nokia may be on to something. She also compares her line “It’s mine, I bought it” to Grande’s “You like my hair? Gee thanks, just bought it.” The similarities have led to some people suggesting Grande is just the latest culture vulture in the music industry.

“Sounds about white,” Nokia said.

The beat has also been compared to Soulja Boy’s hit “Pretty Boy Swag Part 2.” And, quite frankly, the internet is not wrong.

Grande has yet to respond to any of the criticism.

XXL Magazine released audio from an old SoundCloud account belonging to the “Sunflower” rapper and it features acoustic, emo tunes.

Post Malone is one of the hottest rappers in the game right now, but before the fame, he was a struggling artist trying to get his voice heard on the internet. Interestingly, a bunch of Post Malone fans did some serious digging and uncovered the rapper’s pre-fame SoundCloud account. Going by the name Austin Richard, the “Wow” rapper was a bit more emo than rap on two unearthed songs from his SoundCloud page.

If you didn’t know the artist was Post Malone, who reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top 100 list with his “Sunflower” collaboration with Rae Sremmurd star Swae Lee, it would be virtually unrecognizable. Posty even went ahead and gave his own rendition “Silent Night.”

“I might be giant/But the gates they are too tall/And I chose to fall for it every time they give me what I want but it’s never enough,” he sings in the song “Stairs and Strangers.

The account is under the name of Austin Richard, his birth name.

The results? Not great. Let’s all be happy that Posty decided to go the hip hop route when his career took off.
