Brianne Altice, a former Davis High School teacher in Utah convicted of having sex with three of students, has officially asked a federal judge to dismiss the lawsuit against her and the Davis School District.

According to a handwritten motion filed by Altice from the Utah State Prison, she asked the federal judge to throw out the lawsuit against her, arguing that she is entitled to summary judgment because she “owes no fiduciary duty to them, nor did any sexual activity occur on school grounds or during the school year.”

Altice was originally was convicted of three counts of forcible sex abuse back in 2015. She has since been denied a parole hearing and will be able to ask to be released again in 2019.

We previously reported that since going to prison, Altice has completed a paralegal certificate and taken other classes, in addition to attending life skills courses and therapy.

As for why there has been such a significant increase in instances of teachers having sexual relationships with students, researchers believe that technology is to blame.

According to a report from the Texas Education Association, smartphones make easy for teachers to privately text and talk with students and also make it possible for teachers and students to share explicit images.

SESAME (Stop Educator Sexual Abuse Misconduct & Exploitation) President Terri Miller echoed that sentiment, stating “before cell phones, we knew who our kids were talking to” but today, “kids have their own phones, they’re taking them to bed, and parents need to watch more.”

Altice has been one of many teachers to be charged for inappropriate conduct. Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges. A woman named Kayla Sprinkles was arrested in North Carolina for similar sexual crimes.

Altice has been one of many teachers to be charged for inappropriate conduct. Over the course of just a few months, teachers across the United States have been charged, tried, and convicted of various abuse and sex crimes.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

Most recently, teachers such as 29-year-old Haylie Smart, 25-year-old Alaina Ferguson, 26-year-old Amy Nowaczyk, and 32-year-old Laura Bucy were arrested and charged for similar crimes.

There are reports of a person with a gun in a building at Western Connecticut State University.

The school posted an alert to students saying those on the Westside campus should shelter in place.

“Report of person with a gun in the VPA building. Shelter in place if you are on the Westside campus,” the school alert red.

Officials said a person reportedly with a gun is in the VPA building. The VPA building is on the Westside area of the campus.

At this time, the reports of an armed suspect have not been confirmed and there has been no word of any injuries or fatalities.

Western Connecticut State University, which is located in Danbury, Connecticut, is a public university with more than 34,000 enrolled students. WCSU is made up of four schools: the Ancell School of Business, the School of Visual and Performing Arts, the School of Professional Studies, the Macricostas School of Arts and Sciences, and the Division of Graduate Studies.

The reports of an armed person at Western Connecticut State University is the is just the latest in a string of shelter-in-places, lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States.

Despite all of the recent shooting deaths in the United States, the nation’s government has yet to make any changes to our laws to better ensure the safety of the population.

The Kappa Sigma fraternity at the University of Iowa fraternity has been suspended as the university investigates allegations of hazing.

According to reports, on Friday, November 2, the Kappa Sigma fraternity was suspended from the university, bringing the total number of suspended fraternities up to 12. Just this past October, the university suspended nine fraternities due to alcohol violations.

University of Iowa spokeswoman Anne Bassett said that Kappa Sigma is on hiatus “pending further investigation into violations of university policy due to hazing allegations,” according to UI spokeswoman Anne Bassett.

Speaking to The Gazette, University of Iowa Interfraternity Council President Jason Pierce said that his understanding was that “it was just a really bad situation.”

Additionally, IU spokeswoman Hayley Bruce said the UI Department of Public Safety is not investigating any incidents of hazing at this time.

UI officials declined to provide details of the alleged behavior at Kappa Sigma, which debuted its UI chapter in 1902 and went dormant in 2003 before returning in 2014.

Allegations involved alcohol use and wall sits — assuming the sitting position with backs against a wall — and other forms of abuse, according to Pierce, who said that “110 percent it’s concerning to me.” He said he was concerned both about the chapter’s culture and the pledges involved.

“If you care about someone, you don’t want to embarrass them,” he said. “For those who are getting hazed, my advice is that it’s not a place you want to be. Why would a group of friends who supposedly care about you put you in that situation?”

The closure of Kappa Sigma at the University of Iowa is the latest major Greek life suspension, expulsion, or overhaul in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State, and Penn State have all suspended fraternities for various reasons.

Fraternities have been suspended or expelled across the nation as Greek life organizations and universities attempt to grapple with the pitfalls of hazing, alcohol and drug abuse, and sexual assault.

Antony Karagiannis has reportedly been identified as the man who is dating Casey Anthony — who was infamously acquitted of murdering her own daughter in 2011.

According to reports, Karagiannis, 38, and Anthony, 32, were seen together at the Bru’s Room in West Palm Beach, Florida, back in October.

Radar Online, who first reported the story, said that Karagiannis claimed that Casey’s past — such as being accused of murdering her own daughter two-year-old daughter Caylee in 2011 — is “none of my business” and that he doesn’t “really care.”

“Her past is none of my business. I don’t know anything about it,” Karagiannis told Radar.

“She’s very friendly,” Casey’s new man continued. “When I first met her, I knew the name, but I never really read into it. I don’t really care!”

Shortly after Casey was spotted with Karagiannis, her father, George, remarked in a TV interview that he knew she’d been “seeing someone.” He added: “They’re very involved, which is great. I’m glad for her.”

Although Karagiannis claimed he is “not dating” the accused killer Opens a New Window. , other sources said he’d left a long-term girlfriend devastated by dumping her for Casey.

However, as it turns out, Karagiannis is no saint himself, as it was alleged that he has posed as a police officer on “numerous” occasions at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment complex in West Palm Beach, Florida, in order to secure additional parking spots. Charges were never filed against Karagiannis for alleged incidents, though.

Additionally, in 2005, Karagiannis was arrested by the Del Ray Police Department on suspicion of a battery.

In October 2008, Casey pleaded not guilty to the alleged first-degree murder of her two-year-old daughter Caylee Anthony.

Her not-guilty verdict was met with widespread public backlash, as many thought Anthony was clearly guilty of the heinous crime. However, analysts say that the prosecution’s case suffered because they were too reliant on Anthony’s allegedly poor moral character because they were unable to show conclusively how exactly young Caylee had died.

Devin Lima, a former member of the boy band LFO, died on the morning of Wednesday, November 21, at the age of 41-years-old after a yearlong battle with stage 4 cancer. Lima joined LFO in 1999.

LFO — otherwise known as Lyte Funkie Ones — was an American pop band consisting of vocalists Lima, Brad Fischetti, and Rich Cronin. Cronin died in 2010, also due to cancer.

LFO were best known for their hit singles “Summer Girls” “Girl on TV”, and “Every Other Time.”

Despite only releasing two studio albums — LFO in 1999 and Life Is Good in 2001 — LFO have sold over 4 million records worldwide.

Devin Lima, the lead singer of LFO, is dead at 41. Lima had been dealing with stage 4 cancer, according to a report from TMZ.com. Former LFO singer Rich Cronin had also passed away due to leukemia.

Olivia Paregol has been identified as the 18-year-old University of Maryland freshman who tragically passed away to due to an “adenovirus associated illness.”

What Happened?

Olivia Paregol, an 18-year-old freshman in the midst of her first semester at the University of Maryland, passed away to the an “adenovirus associated illness” on Sunday, November 18.

According to a statement from University Health Center Director David McBride, the university learned of the first case of adenovirus on November 1, and since then has confirmed five other more cases of the virus, University Health Center Director David McBride said in a statement.

Paregol, who was in her first semester at the University of Maryland, died on Sunday, November 18, at John Hopkins Hospital.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says that Adenovirus 7 is “most commonly associated with acute respiratory disease.”

Paregol’s death comes after 11 children in New Jersey died due to the disease.

Adenoviruses are often spread by touching a contaminated person or surface, or through the air by coughing or sneezing. They are known to persist on unclean surfaces and medical instruments for long periods of time, and they may not be eliminated by common disinfectants, but they rarely cause severe illness in healthy people. However, people with weakened immune systems have a higher risk of severe disease, and they may remain contagious long after they recover, according to the CDC.

The university recommends that students visit a physician within 48 hours of developing symptoms, stressing that “vigilance is extremely important” for those with conditions like asthma and diabetes, or people who take medication that lowers immune function.

Olivia’s father Ian Paregol said he believes that the University of Mayland shoule have notified the campus:

“I was told there were two students with the virus when I called to figure out what my daughter had, which means they knew it before my daughter. It was the worst nightmare that a family or certainly a parent can have to endure,” Paregol said.

At this time, University of Maryland officials said that five other students were also diagnosed with Adenovirus.

John Allen Chau has been identified as the 27-year-old American missionary from Alabama who was killed by the reclusive and endangered Andamans tribe. The fishermen who brought Chau to the extremely isolated North Sentinel Island said that the native tribespeople shot and killed Chau with arrows and left his body on the beach.

According to reports from local media, Chau was reportedly headed to the island to meet the tribe and try to teach them the ways of Christianity.

Furthermore, reports indicate that Chau had previously tried and failed to make contact with the tribe. Chau had also reportedly visited the nearby Andaman and Nicobar islands in the past.

Researchers believe that that the Sentinelese tribe — which is totally cut off from modern civilization — is made up of between 50 and 150 people.

“Police said Chau had previously visited North Sentinel island about four or five times with the help of local fishermen,” journalist Subir Bhaumik, who has been covering the islands for years, told BBC Hindi.

In 2017, the Indian government also said taking photographs or making videos of the aboriginal Andaman tribes would be punishable with imprisonment of up to three years.

The AFP news agency quoted a source as saying that Chau had tried and failed to reach the island on 14 November. But then he tried again two days later.

“He was attacked by arrows but he continued walking. The fishermen saw the tribals tying a rope around his neck and dragging his body. They were scared and fled,” the report added. Chau’s body was spotted on November 20.

At the time of this writing, Chau’s remains have yet to be recovered. Police say that the case is difficult because the law prevents them from event arresting the Sentinelese people.

The New York Times reports that T. N. Pandit, an anthropologist who visited North Sentinel several times between 1967 and 1991, said the Sentinelese people hunt with spears and arrows fashioned from scraps of metal that washes up on shore.

Additionally, Pandit stated that the Sentinelese people “were more hostile to outsiders than other indigenous communities living in the Andamans.”

Emma DiGiovine, 25, is a 25-year-old associate producer who reportedly had an affair with Fox News Host Jesse Watters, according to the New York Daily News.

DiGiovine was reportedly working on his Fox News show Watters’ World at the time of the affair and was reportedly transferred produce the Fox News show The Ingraham Angle after the affair became public.

The network’s prominent host Jesse Wattersis in the midst of divorce due to an affair with a 25-year-old associate producer. Watters’ wife, Noelle Watters, filed for divorce in October. The couple has twin girls.

Sources said the 39-year-old host informed the network of his adulterous relationship with Emma DiGiovine shortly after Noelle filed divorce papers. DiGiovine was transferred to “The Ingraham Angle.”

Watters was known for his dead-pan, occasionally borderline racist segment Watters World, where he would do a man-a-street routine with a smug attitude. The video of his that received the most attention was when he went to New York City’s Chinatown neighborhood to act like a racist elitist.

In the video — which was set to the tune of the 1974 “Kung Fu Fighting” — Watters wandered the streets asking locals if they knew karate and how often their watches were stolen.

Penn State University is attempting to buy the fraternity house where 19-year-old fraternity pledge Tim Piazza drank heavily and was fatally injured after falling down stairs.

A lawsuit filed with the Centre County in Pennsylvania on Monday, November 19, is asking a court to order the sale of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity house to the university.

The lawsuit argues that a deed from 1928 gives Penn State University the right to force the sale of the Beta Theta Pi property and house once it stops being used as a fraternity.

Furthermore, the university has asked that the price is set by an arbitrator or through another court-mandated process. The Beta Theta Pi fraternity has reportedly disputed whether the school it has the legal right to force the house’s sale.

A spokesman for Penn State University said that if the lawsuit is successful, the university wants to use the property for a “positive purpose” that has not been determined at this time. The spokesperson did say that the property will not be used as a fraternity or sorority house.

The university’s lawsuit isn’t the only involving the property. Beta alumnus Don Abbey filed a suit last year against the alumni corporation, claiming he is owed nearly $10 million he loaned for renovations, repairs and operations for the house. He says that per a funding agreement, the money had to be repaid if Alpha Upsilon ceased to be an active chapter of Beta Theta Pi.

Attorneys for the chapter have said in filings that the only significant asset it has is the house, and that if judgment were awarded in Abbey’s favor it would essentially give him control of the property. The chapter contends the money was a gift, not a loan, and that it did not sign off on the funding agreement Abbey cites. That case is still heading toward trial.

The move from the university for the Beta house comes almost exactly 10 years after it filed a similar lawsuit to regain control of another fraternity property. In November 2008, Penn State went to court seeking to force the sale of the Phi Delta Theta house.

Speaking to The Morning Call, Tom Kline, a lawyer for Piazza’s parents, said that the lawsuit an” encouraging development”:

“With Beta forever banned from Penn State, this structure rightfully belongs in the hands of Penn State to put it to a proper educational use which advances the purposes of the university,” Kline said.

Ryan Burke Sentenced In Hazing Death Of Timothy Piazza

Nicholas Anthony Sardo, a 21-year-old man from Citra, Florida, has been arrested and charged with four counts of bestiality/sexual contact with an animal for allegedly having sex with a miniature horse on multiple occasions.

According to Marion County Sheriff’s Office officials, an unidentified witness contacted police on Friday, October 16, to report that he had seen Sardo having sex with a miniature male pony “named Jackie G in a pasture on a family member’s property” on Tuesday, October 13.

A second witness came forward to corroborate the story, saying that she also saw the criminal act and later approached Sardo about what she saw. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said that Sardo immediately admitted to her that he had sex with the horse before later giving the same admission to investigators.

Sardo admitted to having sex with the horse on four separate occasions.

During his admission, Sardo allegedly told the investigating detective that he knew he was wrong for what he did and that “he was a sick man.”

He is currently being held at the Marion County Jail. At this time, there is no word on when his next court appearance will be.

The mini horse, which is owned by one of Sardo’s family members, is currently under the care of the owner.  The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said that stipulations of Sardo’s future contact with the horse could be determined by a judge in the near future.

On October 16, 2018, a witness came forward and reported to Detective Juliano that she had witnessed Sardo having sex with Jackie G in a pasture on a family member’s property three days earlier. Another witness came forward saying she saw it as well, and she approached Sardo about what she had seen. Sardo immediately admitted to her that he had sex with the horse and also gave the same admission to Detective Juliano. Sardo added that he had sex with the horse four times during the course of a week, and that he used a condom each time because he didn’t want to get a disease from the horse.

Despite the fact that the DCEU is a general mess — particularly the Margot Robbie-starring Suicide Squad — Warner Bros. is full steam ahead with Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn and all of the movies that her character is attached with.

Truth be told, Robbie’s portrayal of Quinn has admittedly been one of the bright spots in the DCEU, so it’s understandable as to why the studio wants to hold on to the character.

That said, many within the industry believe that the DCEU needs to be burnt down and rebuilt from the ground up, Harley Quinn included.

Nevertheless, Warner Bros. moves forward with Birds Of Prey and has finally released an update on production … the official title:

Clearly tripling down on the whimsy of Harley Quinn, it appears that Bird of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation Of One Harley Quinn) will actually be the official title of the film, at least according to The Hollywood Reporter:

Robbie has shared on Instagram the title page of Christina Hodson’s script for Birds of Prey, which includes a handwritten addition, revealing the name is Birds of Prey (And The Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed this is the official title and not just the star having some fun by riffing off of Michael Keaton’s 2014 Oscar-winning movie Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance).

Robbie starred as Harley Quinn in 2016’s Suicide Squad, and the spinoff is described as a film in which she assembles a girl gang of friends to take on a bad guy. Ewan McGregor is playing the Batman villain Black Mask in the film, and Robbie’s other co-stars include Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Huntress, Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya and Ella Jay Basco as Cassandra Cain. Cathy Yan is directing the ensemble.

The horrors of the friend zone. It’s a place we never try to put ourselves in, nor do we ever want to be in the friend zone. If you are a person who has put someone in the friend zone, how dare you? You are hurting that person more than you are hurting yourself. The person you are putting in the friend zone is probably the person you are supposed to end up with. Get a grip and take them out of the friend zone. But, for those of you who are in the friend zone and want out, listen to us.

If you are in the friend zone, you must learn how you put yourself in that zone. Were you a little too subtle, did you do everything for this person to like you, are your flirting skills off? These are legitimate questions because these are things that put you in the friend zone. The friend zone starts with someone giving so much without receiving anything back. By offering, you are taking over all the needs a boyfriend or girlfriend would provide, yet your so-called crush is oblivious to these extremely nice presents. But, sometimes you are pushing too much.

Now it’s time for our tips on how to get out of the friend zone. It may hurt, a few of these, but they will help you. First, you need to be less interested in them. Don’t be needy, take a step back and act like you really don’t need them. To add to this, you can add some competition. Hang out with some other friends, preferably with the sex you are attracted too. This can create a little jealousy with the person you like and can slowly get you out of the friend zone.

That is another thing, you need to be patient. They aren’t going to crawl all over you after 24 hours of not talking to them. Let time tick on and know that it will come around for you. You are trying to get them invested in you rather than the opposite. You already put a lot of investment in them, so it’s their turn to invest in you. You want them to come to you without you doing any hard work. When they see you stepping away, they will see how much you mean to them and come crawling to you in the way you wanted all along.

Once they have come to you, it’s time for the hardest part. The talk. The talk of you and the other person changing the relationship. No more friend zone, but an actual attempt of dating and maybe something more significant in the future. It doesn’t have to be, “will you be my girlfriend” or “boyfriend” type of talk. Take it slow and don’t rush. They will want to do it the same way. You already have each other’s friendship; you already mean a lot to each other. So, take it one step at a time and watch your relationship of friend zone disappear.

The Chicago Bears, who currently sit at first place in the NFC North, travel to Ford Field to take on their division rival Detriot Lions.

Coming off of an impressive Sunday Night Football victory against the Minnesota Vikings, the Bears will be without starting quarterback Mitchell Trubisky, who is out with an injured right shoulder.

Bullying, let’s all admit it, it sucks. But, there is something that we can not control about bullying. It will never end. And that’s a fact, we can create support groups, set up assemblies, and protest it but it will never end. It may help with some bullying, but it won’t stop it. From elementary school all the way to adulthood, bullying doesn’t get worse, but it escalates to a new level of pain. Here are the stages of bullying through the years.

Elementary School

Elementary school is pretty innocent because it’s little kids telling each other. There really isn’t any violence, maybe a little pushing and shoving but nothing terrible. You tell your teacher on someone and that someone gets mad. There are a few innocent tears shed and maybe a timeout in the classroom. Those timeouts when you are in a dark class and, you have to keep your head down. It’s not that important bullying in Elementary school, but it is the start to what can come in the future.

Middle School

This is where violence comes into the picture of bullying. There isn’t much violence with girls but more boys. Boys tend to get a bit more physical and don’t care about the consequences that come with hitting someone. Girls in middle school start to see their sassy side. A few sassy comments here and there can turn into something significant to the person who is being told that sassy comment. Middle school bullying is the development of the evil minds that will explode in high school.

High School

There isn’t much violence or sassy comments. High school students are too old for that. What makes high school bullying the worst is the cyberbullying. Social media is a significant power when it comes to hurting someone. When you say something to someone’s face, it can quickly be forgotten over time. Social media stays online forever. No delete button can help you forget. It’s there for people to see every single day.

College

It’s a new world, one where you do get an original story to tell. But, what sucks about college bullying is you are stuck by yourself. You can’t go to your parents or your teachers. You are an adult now, so you need to figure out things on your own. College, there is cyberbullying, but it’s more psychological. Small little comments that mess with your head keep you up at night that gives the other person power. It’s hard to take control of, but it’s up to you to get over it.

Adulthood

Yes, there is bullying after college. What do you think your parents talk about with other parents? There are still adult rumors, adult insults, and adult fights. Take everything from elementary school all the way to college and combine them all together. Telling people about the other person, arguments and sassy comments, cyberbullying, and psychological jabs. Adulthood is everything exploding into one big issue.

Yes, it’s a horrible day that can bring some good. But, from what it is known for, Black Friday is an awful day. You are asking to be sent to the hospital when you are running into stores and malls for the best deals. Riots get started, weapons are involved, no matter how short your hair is it will be pulled. Why have such a fantastic day of Thanksgiving and then had a day that’s literally called “black Friday”? The name sounds scary. Now, we know you may not care about the horrors of Black Friday and still go out in the darkness. So, here are some tips on how not to end up in the hospital on black Friday.

Be There As Early As Possible

It’s going to sound mad, but you are the one going to black Friday, so you are already insane. Go early, as early as you can. Your goal is to be the first in line. The closest you are to the front the better access you will have to the entrance. Plus, you are surrounded by people who are happy they are at the front and not pissed off in the back. Early is better than late, it’s just obvious.

Bring A Group Of People

Don’t go alone, you are more vulnerable then. A group of people can scatter around the store or mall and get everything done faster. If you are alone, you are running around, panicking, and you are more likely to get into a fight with no backup. Be smart, even if it’s just one friend, you have someone to help you.

Have A mission

Create a plan, even a map of the store you are going to. Known where everything is so you aren’t frantically running around trying to find what you want. Plan your wake up time, how long it will take you to drive to the destination, know where the items are that you want, and most importantly bring your wallet. Do not forget your wallet, you will thank us later.

Make Friends

While you are in line, and you have mistakenly gone alone. Be kind to the others around you, that way you can make friends and find yourself a group. Be nice to everyone and don’t act like a douche bag. You are also less likely to get into a fight with anyone in line if you are nice to them.

Go Online

Instead of risking your life on getting the best deal, do what every doctor is begging you to do, stay inside and go online. There is a luxury to online shopping. You will still get good deals, probably not the best when standing in line, but it’s a deal. Just take the deal without the hospital bill.

Yes, you’ll have to grab a bottle of wine or a 24-pack of beer, but the excuse is foolproof as the evidence shows you were exactly where you said you were. All you gotta do is get a little baked after parking the car upon your return.

I’m Going To Take A Nap

Any Thanksgiving Day veteran knows that a nap is NECESSARY during some point of the day, so this one isn’t so much of an excuse as it is a meditation on timing and execution.

What I’d suggest here is going to take a “nap” an hour or so before dinner time, and upon waking up (if you even do choose to nod off) rip the pen a couple times and you’ll be primed and ready to go right before dinner.

I Don’t Feel So Good

The worst of the excuses, the “I don’t feel so good” technique should only be used in dire situations, as it excludes you from the rest of your friends/family. The way this one works is you say “I don’t feel so good, I’m going to go get some fresh air.” You go out, take a little stroll, and when you come back you’re magically feeling better.
