Conor McGregor Hilariously Trolls Floyd Mayweather About His Upcoming MMA Fight

Despite the fact that the pair has an undeniable, underlying mutual respect for each other (the fact that they earned each other a nine-digit paycheck certainly helps) Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather still continue to trade shots at one another here and there.

Is it because they want to keep the possibility of a rematch alive? Probably. But when you have two elite shit talkers like McGregor and Mayweather going at it, everyone wins.

The latest barb comes from McGregor’s Instagram, where Conor couldn’t help but take a shot at Floyd for his upcoming MMA fight and the optics of the announcement.

via Instagram:

“Is that a tracksuit or a sauna suit Floyd haha wtf. is it hot in Tokyo or what’s the story here? that climate change is no joke fuck me hahah

What in the fuck is going on here? Who’s this little prick next to you ? That’s mad shit. Like something out of rush hour 5 or something. Chris tucker and Jackie fucking Chan back in this bitch. Fucking brilliant. Mad little bastard you are Floyd. Fair fucks to you mate. No lie. Fuck it.”

Mayweather, 41, is making his professional mixed martial arts debut against Japanese kickboxing upstart Tenshin Nasukawa at RIZIN FF 14 at the Super Saitama Arena in Japan on New Year’s Eve, December 31, 2018.

Tenshin, 20, is 27-0 as a professional kickboxer while Mayweather, 41, is 50-0 as a professional boxer.

Luckily, It Appears Aliens May Be On Their Way To End It All

There are two types of people in this world: people who believe in aliens, and the ignorant. Sorry if that offends, but it’s true: if you deny the existence of extraterrestrial life, you’re almost denying your own existence, as humans are literally aliens themselves.

Anyway, beliefs aside, science always has something to say about the matter, and the latest update could be awful or excellent, depending on your perspective.

A paper to be published by a pair of Harvard University researchers has suggested that Oumuamua, a foreign object that was first discovered as it was passing the sun back in 2017, could possibly be an alien spacecraft.

Now, to be clear, while the scientists aren’t saying what they’re seeing is definitely alien, they are saying that it “may be a fully operational probe sent intentionally to Earth vicinity by an alien civilization.” Which is … definitely something.

Scientists say mysterious 'Oumuamua' object could be an alien spacecraft https://t.co/8JcO4uIgwf via @NBCNewsMACH

— Harvard ITC (@HarvardITC) November 5, 2018

via NBC News:

Scientists have been puzzling over Oumuamua ever since the mysterious space object was observed tumbling past the sun in late 2017. Given its high speed and its unusual trajectory, the reddish, stadium-sized whatever-it-is had clearly come from outside our solar system. But its flattened, elongated shape and the way it accelerated on its way through the solar system set it apart from conventional asteroids and comets.

Now a pair of Harvard researchers are raising the possibility that Oumuamua is an alien spacecraft. As they say in a paper to be published Nov. 12 in The Astrophysical Journal Letters, the object “may be a fully operational probe sent intentionally to Earth vicinity by an alien civilization.”

The researchers aren’t claiming outright that aliens sent Oumuamua. But after a careful mathematical analysis of the way the interstellar object sped up as it shot past the sun, they say Oumuamua could be a spacecraft pushed through space by light falling on its surface — or, as they put it in the paper, a “lightsail of artificial origin.”

As for why Oumuamua may have been sent, Avi Loeb — the chairman of Harvard’s astronomy department and a co-author of the paper — said “it is impossible to guess the purpose behind Oumuamua without more data.”

Whether or not Oumuamua is actually alien is yet to be seen, but I have a feeling we’ll get out the answer — good or bad — sooner rather than later.

Elementary School Teacher Arrested For Drinking A Bag Of Wine At Work

Shannon R. Beran has been identified as the 43-year-old Louisiana teacher who was arrested for allegedly consuming a bag of wine while at work.

According to a statement released by the Rapides Parish Police Department, Beran — who was teaching at Buckeye Elementary School — allegedly displayed “odd behavior during car rider pick-up duty” on Wednesday, October 24.

In addition to what was described as “odd” behavior, Beran was also reportedly “moving slowly and awkwardly.” When confronted by someone on the scene, Beran allegedly became defensive, stating that she “wanted to leave.”

This prompted the school’s Student Resource Officer to step in, who then warned school officials that Beran “was possibly intoxicated and may have alcohol in her room.” Following a search of Beran’s classroom, a partially consumed bag of wine was found.

After the alcohol was found, Beran was arrested an charged with possession of alcohol on public school property.

via Facebook:

On October 24, 2018, at approximately 3:15 PM the School Resource Officer at Hayden R. Lawrence Upper Elementary responded to Buckeye Elementary, as their SRO had already left for the day, to assist with the school administration with a possible intoxicated school employee. Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with school administrators who advised that one of the teachers, identified as Shannon Rene Beran, 43 of Deville, was possibly intoxicated and may have alcohol in her room.

According to witnesses, Beran had been displaying odd behavior during car rider pick up duty, moving slowly and awkwardly. When confronted and asked about her condition, she stated she wanted to leave and became defensive. The School Resource Officer detained Beran and began his investigation. The school administration followed their policy and also notified the school board office.

With the assistance of school administrators, a partially consumed bag of wine was located in Berans classroom. After the investigation was completed by the School Resource Officer, Beran was placed under arrest for possession of alcohol on public school property.

Following her arrest, she was transported to the Rapides Parish Detention Center and later released on a $500 bond.

Local Neighborhood Regularly Buys Out Donut Shop’s Inventory So Owner Can Tend To Sick Wife

Patrons of a local, family-owned donut shop in California have rallied together to consistently buy out the store’s inventory so the friendly owner can tend to his sick wife.

According to various reports, patrons of Donut City in Seal Beach, California, have been buying a surplus of donuts in an effort to allow owner John Chhan to close shop early and head home to his ill wife Stella.

The shop, which is located south of Los Angeles, opens at 4:30 a.m. PST and is usually sold out by 7:30 a.m. PST.

Steven O’Fallon, a regular customer of Donut City, said that is was “heartbreaking to hear her [Stella Chhan’s] misfortune” so he (and other customers) and simply returning the kindness that the Chhans have provided over the years.

via NBC News:

For the past 28 years, the couple and their baker have gotten to the shop at 2 a.m. PT every day to bake the doughnuts. They then open to the community by 4:30 a.m., seven days a week. It’s a routine they’ve more or less kept to since opening the store in 1990, a decade after the husband and wife arrived in the U.S. as refugees from Cambodia.

Marc Loopesko, a resident of Seal Beach for 22 years, has been frequenting the shop for nearly two decades. He was one of the hundreds of locals who saw the post and decided to take action.

Loopesko decided that in addition to buying doughnuts, the community could offer the idea of starting a GoFundMe page for the Chhans but the shop owner politely declined, saying that he would rather have extra time with his wife.

Thankfully, Chhan told NBC News that his wife Stella is “recovering well” and that he hopes to have her back in the shop “shortly.”

Felix Varela High School Security Guard Arrested — Details

When you’re caught doing what you’re expected not to do, it can often be embarrassing, especially for Jamie Green, who held a job as a school security guard at Felix Varela Senior High School before his arrest. Not only did he ended up losing his job as a security guard, but he might also have to face legal repercussions as well.

What Happened?

The big story today is #ElectionDay, but for @WPLGLocal10 News at 6 I’m working on this:

Jamie Green, 43, arrested for allegedly selling coke & pot near Felix Varela HS. The kicker: Green was employed by MDCPS as a security guard at Varela.

A high school security guard was caught with an arsenal of narcotics after authorities found more than 700 grams of marijuana in a drawer, 28 grams of cocaine in multiple areas of his room, a digital scale, and $2000 in cash. According to a citation by police officers, it said that the convict was pulled over in his car by a team of narcotics investigators. They later found about 1 gram of cocaine and a THC cartridge to be hidden in the center console of his car.

His identity was then revealed to the public to be 43 years old Jamie Green, a security guard at Felix Varela High School.

In multiple joint efforts by detectives from the Miami-Dade’s narcotics bureau, Hammocks district station, and the State Attorney’s Office, they have built a portfolio of Green for over a month. Police were then tipped by a frequent customer of Green named Alberto Ferro, who claimed that he had bought drugs from him during breaks from schools for several years. Police then arrived at the scene to see Green trying to swallow all his drugs and reversing his car to escape.

Currently, Green is locked up at Miami-Dade County Jail and is being charged with multiple counts of cocaine and marijuana dealing, Miami Herald reported.

It is unclear whether Green has ever sold drugs to students at the school, but it is being investigated on whether or not he made sales at a gas station near the high school.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokeswoman Jackie Calzadilla issued a response to this incident.

“Miami-Dade County Public Schools expects all employees to exhibit the highest level of professional and personal comportment, whether they are in or out of the school environment,” Miami-Dade County Public Schools spokeswoman Jackie Calzadilla said in a statement. “Actions by employees who demonstrate a lack of good moral character will be handled swiftly. As such, the District is moving to immediately terminate his employment.”

Justyna Monde is a 24-year-old model who claims to have had an affair with real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid, who is the father of supermodels Gigi Hadid and Bella Haid.

Speaking to Daily Mail, Monde claims that she has been flown on private jets and stayed in luxury hotels across Europe from 2014 to 2017 while in a relationship with the 70-year-old multimillionaire real estate mogul.

In addition to her claims, Daily Mail has published what seem to be Instagram direct messages between the two. And yes, they’re as gross as you’d expect.

via Daily Mail:

“She told DailyMailTV: ‘We met through Instagram. I texted him “hi” and then he replied with his numbers. We kept talking for months, getting to know each other quite well.

We texted a lot on WhatsApp. It was a lot of texts. At first we were getting to know each other, then deeper. We talked a lot about art, he paints, and I paint. We like art.

It started innocent but then it became a little bit sexual. We sent photos to each other of what we were doing. Of course, there were some nice, private selfies. I wanted to experience an older man and of course he was attractive. He was sending text messages and in one of them, he said, “I would love to eat pierogis off your body.

Sometimes he would ask me to send him some naughty pictures. And of course I did. I see nudity as a part of art. He was quite interested. He liked me a lot.”

Hadid is a Jordanian-American real estate developer who is best known for building luxury buildings in the Bel Air and Beverly Hills neighborhoods of Los Angeles.

He has been engaged to 36-year-old Second Wives Club star Shiva Safai since 2013.

The Lockport Police Department confirm that Lockport High School in Upstate New York has been evacuated. While the reason for the evacuation was initially unknown, the LPD has since confirmed that the school was evacuated due to a bomb threat.

The Lockport Police Department is currently on the scene. Police Chief Steve Preisch said that the situation is under control and police are now conducting a sweep of the building. K-9 units were reportedly on the scene as well.

The Lockport Police Department has since confirmed that “absolutely no devices were found” at the school. At this time, the students and staff are not considered to be in any danger.

The reports of a bomb threat at Lockport High School is just the latest in a string of bomb threats, shootings, lockdowns, and evacuations that have plagued American high schools and other public gathering places over recent years.

LET’S COOK: A ‘Breaking Bad’ Movie Is Reportedly In The Works

breaking bad movie

AMC

It looks like the greatest television show of all-time will be returning after all … as a movie.

According to a report from Albuquerque Journal, series creator Vince Gilligan is reportedly working on a two-hour movie based on the beloved Emmy-winning AMC drama Breaking Bad.

The report states that the New Mexico Film Office has confirmed that a movie with the working title “Greenbrier” will begin production in mid-November and continue through early February.

Now, while the New Mexico Film Office would not confirm nor deny that the project was actually a Breaking Bad film, the ABQ Journal reports that a source close to the project confirmed the production.

via Albuquerque Journal:

According to the logline, “Greenbrier” follows the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom.

“We are happy to welcome ‘Greenbrier’ and Sony Studios to New Mexico,” said New Mexico State Film Office Director Nick Maniatis. “For years, we’ve built up the film industry in New Mexico and strengthened our film incentives; now, we’re seeing success after success for the film industry in our state.”

According to the N.M. Film Office, the production will employ approximately 300 N.M. crew members, 16 N.M. actors and approximately 450 N.M. background talent.

This is the first project for Vince Gilligan – who created “Breaking Bad” and co-created the spinoff, “Better Call Saul” – after signing a three-year deal with Sony Pictures Television in July.

The move to stay with Sony comes at a time when A-list showrunners are being courted by Netflix and other streaming services for production pacts.

“Follow the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom”, huh? Sure sounds familiar, doesn’t it? Sure sounds like one Jesse Pinkman, who was last seen literally escaping captivity in the 2013 series finale.

At this time, details on which characters will be returning from the TV series to the film have not been released. Additionally, a release date is not known at this time.

Ex-MMA Fighter Sharice Davids Makes History In Congress

Sharice Davids makes history after being elected to Congress in the 2018 midterms.

Instagram/@shariceforcongress

Sharice Davids made history in the United States Congress on Tuesday, November 6 after winning a local election in the 2018 midterms. Davids, a former mixed martial arts fighter, was able to pull off a big victory by defeating four-term incumbent Republican Representative Kevin Yoder to win Kansas’ 3rd Congressional District.

It was a monumental win for not only the Democratic Party but for minority groups in the country.

Davids, a member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, becomes the first Democrat to sit in the Kansas House seat in a decade, the first openly LGBT representative for the state, and the first Native American woman to serve in Congress.

The magnitude of Davids’ win was not lost on her.

“We have the opportunity to reset expectations about what people think when they think of Kansas,” Davids said during her victory speech, via the Kansas City Star. “We know there are so many of us who welcome everyone, who see everyone and who know that everyone should have the opportunity to succeed.”

More about Sharice Davids can be seen below.

Who Is Sharice Davids?

Before turning to politics, Davids was immersed in the mixed martial arts scene where she earned a 5-1 record as an amateur. After turning pro, Davids racked up a 1-1 record. She tried out for the UFC reality competition The Ultimate Fighter during season 20 which crowned the promotion’s inaugural women’s strawweight champion, but ultimately failed to make the cut.

Davids obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City while beginning her MMA career, before earning her Juris Doctor from Cornell Law School.

Now, she is a member-elect of the United States House of Representatives for Kansas’ 3rd congressional district where she succeeds four-term incumbent Kevin Yoder.

Shiva Safai is the 36-year-old model and businesswoman who is engaged to 70-year-old real estate mogul Mohamed Hadid.

Safai, who was born in Iran and raised in Norway before moving to Los Angeles, California with her family when she was 19-years-old, began appearing on the E! reality television series Second Wives Club in 2017.

On Wednesday, November 7, a report published by Daily Mail claimed that Hadid allegedly cheated on Safai with 25-year-old model Justyna Monde.

Monde told the Daily Mail that she and Hadid first came into contact through Instagram direct messages and that she has since been flown on private jets and stayed in luxury hotels while in a relationship with the 70-year-old multimillionaire real estate mogul from 2014 to 2017.

via Daily Mail:

“She told DailyMailTV: ‘We met through Instagram. I texted him “hi” and then he replied with his numbers. We kept talking for months, getting to know each other quite well.

While Safai and Hadid have been engaged since 2013, they’ve yet to be married. Safai is not the mother of Gigi and Bella, as that distinction goes to former model Yolanda Hadid.

Jordan Halane, a 31-year-old teacher at Wessendorff Middle School in Texas, has died after attempting suicide in his classroom. Halane was found unconscious in his classroom while school was in session. A staff member found Halane unconscious and alone in his room and immediately called for medical assistance. Students were kept in their classrooms while Halane was attended to.

Halane was transported to the local hospital where he passed away.

According to reports, there were no weapons found in the classroom but the school did not provide further details of Halane’s attempted suicide.

“Unfortunately, we believe it was the teacher’s intent to harm himself,” Wessendorff Middle School Principal Sonya Sanzo told parents of the school’s students, via KHOU. ‘There were no weapons on campus and students were never in any danger.

“Students were unaware of the medical emergency, which occurred in a portion of the campus that was not directly accessible to students. Our focus is always on the safety and well-being of our students. We felt that you should be aware of the situation in case your child comes home with questions or concerns.”

Halane was a Fine Arts teacher, and piano and voice instructor.

Grievance counseling will be available to students who are in need. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the Halane family and all of those impacted by the tragedy.

Midterms 2018: Here’s How College Students Voted

The Midterm Elections came and went, and when the dust settled, everyone — on both of sides of the aisle — survived. Luckily, there was no political apocalypse: citizens voted and our nation’s proud Democratic process was effective once again.

While your perception of the results largely depends on which political party you affiliate yourself with, one thing that all Americans can agree is a positive sign is that voter turnout was up essentially across the board — especially among young voters.

Prior to the election, a biannual poll released by the Harvard University Institute of Politics showed that 40 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds said they will “definitely vote” in the 2018 midterm elections, which represented a significant increase over the turnout in 2010 and 2014.

College-Aged Voter Turnout: Key Statistics

  • Voters ages 18 to 29 will make up 13 percent of the overall electorate in this year’s midterms, up from 11 percent in 2014. (The Atlantic)
  • A clear 68% of voters aged 18-24 chose the Democrats according to exit polls. (Guardian)
  • More than 3.3 million voters from that group cast their votes early, 188% increase from 2014. (The Atlantic)
  • At the University of Arizona precinct in Tucson, Arizona, NextGen reported 2018 turnout was about halfway to 2016 presidential election turnout levels — and that was in the afternoon. And at three precincts NextGen was tracking around the state, turnout had well surpassed levels from the 2014 midterm elections. (Vox)
  • The University of California-Irvine precinct surpassed 2014 turnout totals with early votes alone, according to NextGen. As of noon PT, 2018 turnout was more than four times the turnout of 2014, the group reported. (Vox)
  • At Penn State University, NextGen was reporting 1 in 4 registered voters have cast ballots by around 6 pm ET. In 2014, fewer than 1 in 20 registered voters at Penn State actually voted. (Vox)
  • At the University of Florida, students cast more than 1,000 additional votes than they did in 2014, by around 6 pm ET. NextGen estimated a 20 percent turnout jump from 2014. (Vox)
  • In New Hampshire, 2018 vote totals have surpassed 2014 vote totals at most colleges and universities NextGen was tracking by 4 pm.  (Vox)

via The Atlantic:

Preliminary results from ABC exit polls suggest that voters ages 18 to 29 will make up 13 percent of the overall electorate in this year’s midterms, up from 11 percent in 2014. While early voting across every age group increased compared with the 2014 midterms, the surge is most pronounced among voters ages 18 to 29. More than 3.3 million voters from that group cast their votes early. That’s a 188 percent increase from 2014, according to data from TargetSmart, a political-data-analysis firm.

The spike in youth turnout in several key battleground states is particularly striking. In Texas, where young voters have rallied behind the Democratic Senate candidate Beto O’Rourke, early voting increased fivefold for voters ages 18 to 29, according to The Hill. It’s the same story in Nevada, where there’s another hotly contested Senate race: Five times as many young voters turned out early in 2018 as they did in 2014.

One thing has become clear: no matter which side of the aisle you fall on, both sides of the political spectrum are as energized as they’ve been in some time, which, if you believe in principles of America’s democracy, is an inherently good thing.

WATCH: Shaq Wrestles Forrest Griffin In UFC Octagon

Forrest Griffin grapples Shaq for his new Facebook show.

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has a new show on Facebook Watch titled “Big Chicken Shaq.” In the episode that was released this week, the 7-foot-2 big man made a trip to the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas where he came face-to-face with UFC Hall of Famer Forrest Griffin. Shaq agreed to grappled Griffin inside of the Octagon, which proved to be a big mistake.

It didn’t take long for Griffin to use his skill set to force Shaq to tap.

Then, it got even worse for The Big Aristotle.

Next up for Shaq was UFC women’s strawweight fighter Claudia Gadelha. The 115-pounder stepped into the Octagon after Griffin tapped out Shaq and locked in a choke of her own. UFC president Dana White served as the referee for the fun and offered Shaq $2,500 if he was able to go five minutes without tapping to Gadelha. And, well, he never had to pay up.

Shaq joked about his experience during an interview with USA TODAY Sports’ For The Win.

“I was supposed to wrestler her next but she saw me wrestle with Forrest and she realized she couldn’t beat me,” he said. “Because I told her, I said, ‘Listen, little young lady, if you can make me tap out I’ll give you $10,000 right now. So then she came in in the back and got me when I wasn’t looking.”

You can check out the full video below.

Perhaps it is just best for Shaq to watch MMA from the stands moving forward. Although his neck isn’t safe there, either.
