Ashanti: Hottest Photos On The Internet

Back in the early 2000’s, Ashanti was one of the hottest names in the R&B game. With Beyonce still in Destiny’s Child and Rihanna still a teenager, the years 2000 to 2003 were absolutely dominated by Ashanti. In fact, in the year 2002, Ashanti was featured on Fat Joe’s single “What’s Luv?” and Ja Rule’s single “Always on Time”, both of which became two of the biggest songs of the year.

2002 was an absolutely massive year for Ashanti, in fact, as she also released her debut album, which sold over 500,000 copies throughout the U.S. in its first week of release and earned Ashanti a Grammy Award in 2003 for Best Contemporary R&B Album.

In 2003, Ashanti released her second studio album, Chapter II. The album has since gone platinum, selling over 1.5 million copies in the United States.

As her career progressed, Ashanti tried her hand in acting, appearing in the fil,s John Tucker Must Die in 2006 and Resident Evil: Extinction in 2007.

Unfortunately for Ashanti, as she’s gotten older, she’s ceded the spotlight to the likes of Rihanna and Beyonce.

University Of Missouri Fraternity Suspends Sigma Chi

The University of Missouri has suspended Sigma Chi fraternity pending the results of an investigation.

According to a statement from University of Missouri spokesman Christian Basi, the Sigma Chi fraternity had been on disciplinary probation for violation of campus regulations, including rules governing alcohol use. The probation was set to expire in December.

While Mr. Basi was able to disclose that Sigma Chi had been suspended, he did not elaborate into what policies the fraternity violated.

Sigma Chi is just one of seven fraternities at the University of Missouri that are currently suspended, joining Farmhouse, Kappa Alpha Order, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Sigma Phi Epsilon, and Sigma Pi.

As a result of their suspension, the fraternity will be barred from participating in the Greek Life activities accompanied with Homecoming on October 20.

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority lawsuit, investigation, suspension or closure in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who was shut down for hazing and the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State, West Virginia University, and Penn State University have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

SNL Season 44 premiered September 29, 2018, and fans of the sketch comedy show are eager to see old and new faces every Saturday night throughout the fall television season. SNL is known for launching the comedy careers of many performers as it is where many up and coming comedians get their start. You can see SNL alums all throughout the comedy sphere both past and present. It is clear that Lorne Michaels has an eye for talent.

This season features newcomer Ego Nwodim as the only new castmember and most of the season 43 members returning. Michael Ché and Colin Jost continue to host weekend update this season, as they have done for the past several years.

The past few seasons of SNL have had fans clamoring for a return to the golden days of sketch comedy. This however largely depends on the age of the fan. If you are a millenial, you will remember the 2010s cast fondly.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 SNL cast member of this decade below:

10. Cecily Strong

Strong’s “Girl you wish you hadn’t started a conversation with at a party” helps cement her as one of the best of the decade.

9. Kate McKinnon

Instagram Photo

McKinnon’s acting success can be attributed to her improvisational skills and ability to make other cast members break.

8. Jay Pharoah

Instagram Photo

Pharoah’s Obama will go down as one of the top examples of an SNL presidential satire gone right.

7. Pete Davidson

Instagram Photo

Pete Davidson adds his own personal brand of gawky stoner humor to SNL, landing him a top spot among the decade’s cast members.

6. Taran Killam

Instagram Photo

Who can forget Killam’s spot on Brad Pitt impression?

5. Leslie Jones

Instagram Photo

Leslie Jones made her mark on SNL by becoming one of the first female black cast members to get starring roles in sketches. She took this and ran with it, making her among the best of the decade.

4. Kenan Thompson

Instagram Photo

Kenan is an SNL institution and he’s almost too good for this list. Because he had been on SNL for most of the 2000s, it didn’t seem fair to make him the #1 best of the 2010s.

3. Kristen Wiig

Kristen Wiig is at the top of the list of best SNL performers of all time, let alone this decade.

2. Bobby Moynihan

Bobby Moynihan is, without a doubt, the best drunk uncle that Weekend Update could ask for.

1. Bill Hader

Bill Hader is possibly the best SNL cast member of this millennium. Though his run ended in 2014, his legacy on the show and its writers is evident. His continued success after SNL is a testament to his comedy chops.

Khabib Nurmagomedov welcomes former two-division champion Conor McGregor back to the Octagon at UFC 229 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday, Oct. 6. Nurmagomedov will be defending his 155-pound title in the main event which airs on pay-per-view. Many experts believe Nurmagomedov’s grappling could be the difference.

But how did Nurmagomedov become such a dominant wrestler?

Well, it started with wrestling bears as a child. In an old video that has been online throughout his career, a young Khabib can be seen wrestling a bear as the much larger animal forces him to work on his strength to escape compromising positions.

The Dagestani champion became the first Russian and first Muslim to win a UFC championship thanks in large part to his training by his father, Abdulmanap. His father was a wrestler and trained in judo and sambo in the military before converting the ground floor of Nurmagomedov’s home into a gym. Khabib developed into two-time Combat Sambo World Champion before joining the UFC.

You can check out the video below.

Conor McGregor last fought in the UFC on November 12, 2016, defeating Eddie Alvarez to claim the UFC lightweight championship. At the time of his big win, McGregor became the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles in two different weight classes simultaneously; he was also the featherweight champion at the time. Since that fight, McGregor was stripped of both belts, welcomed his first child to the world, and dabbled in the boxing world for a superfight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Now, he is finally ready to step back into the cage to attempt to reclaim the title that he believes is still his.

Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, claimed the vacant UFC lightweight title at UFC 223 on April 7, 2018 in Brooklyn, New York. Nurmagomedov scored a unanimous decision victory win over Al Iaquinta in the main event. Khabib was initially scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson for the title, but the bout fell through in the final days leading up to the event and Iaquinta stepped up on short notice.

UFC 229 takes place Saturday, Oct. 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The UFC 229 main card will air on pay-per-view, with preliminary bouts on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.

Along with the main event between Nurmagomedov and McGregor, other bouts currently scheduled include Sergio Pettis vs. Jussier Formiga in a battle of top flyweight contenders, former Invicta FC champion Michelle Waterson vs. Felice Herrig, Ovince Saint Preux vs. Dominick Reyes, Ryan LaFlare vs. Tony Martin, and Lina Lansberg vs. Yana Kunitskaya.

UFC 229 is in the books. After a wild ending at T-Mobile Arena which saw lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov choke out Conor McGregor before jumping into the crowd and attacking McGregor’s teammates, the top fighters from the night will be making their way to the post-fight press conference where they will be speaking with the media.

The chaos and mayhem that brought an end to the pay-per-view leaves a black mark on what was otherwise an incredible event.

Among those who will address the media at the post-fight press conference will likely be UFC president Dana White, who should have plenty to say after seeing his champion jump into the crowd which is expected to land him a hefty fine and suspension.

UFC 229 ended with some chaos when Khabib Nurmagomedov jumped into the crowd and attacked members of Conor McGregor’s team after retaining his UFC lightweight championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. While Nurmagomedov was in the crowd engaged in a brawl, two other members of his team jumped into the cage and jumped McGregor.

Multiple videos from inside of the venue surfaced that show the actions of all of those involved, and there are already consequences.

According to UFC president Dana White, three members of Nurmagomedov’s team have been arrested for their part in the chaos. White made his comments during a post-event interview with Megan Olivi of FOX Sports.

“I don’t even know what to say right now. I’m disgusted and just sick over it,” White said before adding there would be “a lot of repercussions.”

At the post-fight press conference, White added that the three members of Khabib’s team have been released because McGregor refused to press charges. Two of the men who jumped in the cage are believed to be UFC fighters, who White says will never fight in the UFC again.

UFC 229 Fighter Salaries: Conor McGregor, Khabib Nurmagomedov Top 7 Figures

$

UFC

UFC 229 is in the books and the fighter salaries from the event have been released. Following the conclusion of this weekend’s pay-per-view at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, the Nevada State Athletic Commission released the purses for each fighter on the card. The two headliners of the night — UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and challenger Conor McGregor — both cleared a whopping seven-figures.

McGregor led the way with $3 million, while Nurmagomedov landed $2 million. Their combined $5 million left just $1.6 million for the remaining fighters on the card.

Co-main event participants Tony Ferguson ($155,000) and Anthony Pettis ($145,000) along with former Invicta FC champion Michelle Waterson ($100,000) were the only other fighters to clear six figures.

Unfortunately for Khabib, his post-fight antics — which included jumping out of the cage and sparking a brawl in the crowd — have led to the NSAC withholding his purse while they conduct an investigation into the incident.

The figures released do not include any money from outside sponsors, Reebok outfitting numbers or outside sponsorships for the athletes. UFC 227 purses also exclude any locker room bonuses which include the $50,000 for Fight of the Night and Performance of the night bonuses.

The $50,000 bonuses on Saturday night went to Tony Ferguson and Anthony Pettis for Fight of the Night, and Performance of the Night honors went to Derrick Lewis and Vicente Luque, who scored devastating knockout wins over Alexander Volkov and Jalin Turner, respectively.

It’s Monday, October 8, the second Monday of the month meaning it is Columbus Day 2018. Because it is a holiday, you could have some questions about whether you will be able to go about your regular routine to start off the new week. We are here to answer those questions.

The day was declared a federal holiday in 1937 by President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Columbus Day is a state and federal holiday so most businesses and schools will be closed for the day, along with a majority of banks. This means if you want to deposit or withdraw money or are expecting a direct deposit stub to go through on the holiday or the surrounding days, you may need to wait an extra day or so for your transaction to be processed.

A list of banks that are open and closed during the holiday can be seen below.

What Banks Are Open On Columbus Day 2018?

Because Columbus Day is a federal holiday, most banks in the country — including the Federal Reserve Banks, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and others — will be closed. However, TD Bank will remain open.

If you use a smaller, private bank or exclusively use an online bank or believe for whatever reason that your local branch will not be closed for Columbus Day, it’s recommended that you check in with your bank a few days prior to get confirmation.

Federal officials, mail services, courts, and many schools will also be closed.

Other Upcoming Federal Holidays

  • Veterans Day — Monday, November 12th
  • Thanksgiving Day — Thursday, November 22nd
  • Christmas Day — Tuesday, December 25th

Other Info: Because most Federal Employees work on a Monday to Friday schedule, when a holidays falls on a weekend the holiday is observed on the closest regular workday. The holiday is observed on Friday if the holiday falls on Saturday and Monday if the holiday falls on Sunday (5 U.S.C. 6103 (b)(2)). (via FederalPay.org)

53-year-old Scott Lisinicchia has been identified of the driver of the limo that crashed in New York State on Saturday, October 6, killing himself, all 18 passengers, and two pedestrians. The tragedy is the deadliest transportation accident in the United States in nine years.

According to police, the 2001 Ford Excursion limo being driver by Lisinicchia was traveling southwest on State Route 30 when sped through an intersection with State Route 30 A and collided with an SUV in a parking lot. The incident happened around 2 p.m. on Saturday, October 3, in Schoharie, New York.

The driver, all 18 passengers, and the two pedestrians that were standing near the parked 2015 Toyota Highlander were also killed.

Witness reports from the scene of the crash said that the limo was traveling approximately 60mph when it ran through a stop sign before blowing into the parked 2015 Toyota Highlander.

The Washington Post reports that Erin McGowan, a passenger on the limo who died alongside new husband Shane, texted her aunt Valerie Abeling to say that the limo was “in terrible condition.”

Additionally, Abeling said the group had originally rented a bus to take them to the party venue, however, it broke down, which caused the transportation company to send a limo to take the group the rest of the way.

via Washington Post:

Authorities said a 2001 Ford Excursion limousine traveling southwest on State Route 30 “failed to stop” at an intersection with State Route 30A and flew into the parking lot of the nearby Apple Barrel Country Store and Cafe.

The limousine struck an unoccupied 2015 Toyota Highlander, New York State Police First Deputy Superintendent Christopher Fiore said at a news conference Sunday. Two pedestrians standing nearby were fatally struck, Fiore said.

Schoharie Town Supervisor Alan Tavenner described how two state highways meet at the bottom of a steep hill at a T-shaped intersection. The limo blew past the stop sign at speeds upward of 60 mph, according to witness accounts, Tavenner said.

Tavenner said the New York Department of Transportation outlawed heavy trucks on the hill in recent years because of instances when runaway trucks lost their ability to brake down the steep grade. He said the limo was carrying out-of-towners during a busy tourist weekend, Stone Fort Days.

New York authorities are currently investigating the crash, as New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo said state agencies should “provide every resource necessary” to investigate the crash.

Payne County District Court

Avalone Fishback, a 20-year-old student at Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma, was arrested last week after it was discovered she was using the online dating app “Plenty of Fish” in an attempt to hire someone to kill her ex-boyfriend. Court documents claim Fishback wanted her boyfriend murdered because he “betrayed her, lied to her mother” and broke up with her.

Fishback was charged with first-degree solicitation of murder, according to KFOR.

The Daily Mail adds:

Fishback contacted at least four different people asking if they would kill her former lover living in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Lee’s Summit police say they learned of the incident after a man contacted them and told them Fishback had allegedly contacted him asking him to commit the murder.

Those allegations led to an investigation where they discovered Fishback’s plot.

That wasn’t all for Fishback, however. Another man had asked for $1,000 to shoot her ex-boyfriend and dump the body but she discovered he was facing criminal charges already so she decided to back out, KMBC reports. Fishback also contacted a man on Snapchat in an effort to orchestrate the hit.

Fishback was arrested in her dorm at Langston University.

“Langston University is aware of the matter and the Langston University Police Department is working with and will continue cooperating with the OSBI who is the lead agency on this matter,” a statement from the university read.

Fishback is currently being held in Logan County Jail on $150,000 bond and is facing five years to life in prison if she is convicted of the crime. She is scheduled to appear in court at 9:00 a.m. on October 25.

Where Is Langston University?

Langston University is the only historically black college in the state of Oklahoma. The school is a member of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund and has an endowment of $45 million. The university, which was previously known as Oklahoma Colored Agricultural and Normal University, is home to more than 2,500 students.

CNN White House reporter Kaitlan Collins has been forced to apologize after her old tweets where she used homophobic slurs have resurfaced.

According to reports, in 2011, Collins used the word “fag” and says she wouldn’t want to “share a room with a lesbian.” Collins joined CNN in 2017.

In one tweet, Collins wrote: “Prologue to the Canterbury Tales, you fag,” in reply to a Twitter User.

In a second tweet, she wrote: “Idk if I wanna room with a lesbian.”

Collins shared the following apology statement on Twitter:

“When I was in college, I used ignorant language in a few tweets to my friends. It was immature but it doesn’t represent the way I feel at all. I regret it and apologize.”

— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) October 7, 2018

According to the Washington Examiner, one of Collins’ co-workers said they were “personally offended” by her tweets.

Matt Dornic, the CNN vice president of communications who identified himself as gay, tweeted that while he was “disappointed” that Collins used an offensive word, he has since accepted her apology:

“I’m a proud gay man. And I am a proud friend of Kaitlan Collins. Tho I’m disappointed that she ever used the word (even as an immature college kid), I can say with certainty it doesn’t reflect her feelings toward the LGBTQ community. She’s apologized and I accept that.”

Khabib Nurmagomedov Manager Ali Abdelaziz Discusses UFC 229 Brawl

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s big win in the main event of UFC 229 over superstar Conor McGregor was overshadowed by the post-fight melee between both fighter’s teams which spilled out into the crowd. Nurmagomedov jumped out of the cage and made a run towards McGregor teammate Dillon Danis, while two Nurmagomedov teammates jumped into the cage for an altercation with the Irishman himself.

Nurmagomedov apologized for his actions at the post-fight press conference while explaining they were because McGregor crossed the line with comments about his religion, ethnicity, and family.

Now that the dust from the brawl has settled, Nurmagomedov’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz, has shared his thoughts on the matter.

You can’t bite a dog and not expect to be bitten,” Abdelaziz said, via USA Today. “You can’t play with fire and not expect to be burned. This man, Conor McGregor, is not a good guy. I got zero respect for Conor McGregor. His team, his whole entourage, zero.

“These guys, they demand respect, but you earn respect. How are you going to earn respect when you talk crazy about people’s family, religion, countries?”

Abdelaziz, who was the target of a verbal jab from McGregor where he was called a “terrorist” at the pre-fight press conference, did admit, however, that Nurmagomedov should have never left the cage. That action will not only land Nurmagomedov some serious punishment from the Nevada State Athletic Commission, but it could cost him his UFC lightweight title and lead to visa issues in the future.

UFC 229 took place Saturday, Oct. 6 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
