Bond 25— the tentative working title for the upcoming 25th film in the never-ending James Bond franchise — has been an undoubted production nightmare ever since its inception.

Following the release of Spectre — the 24th film in the franchise — back in 2015, Daniel Craig, the star of the franchise, said that he would rather “slash his wrists” than play James Bond. Little extreme, sure, but Craig said it all the same.

However, Craig eventually came around (being offered $150 million to play Bond two more times might have helped) and Slumdog Millionaire director Danny Boyle signed on to helm the project and everything seemed to be on the up and up.

But only for so long.

Back in August, Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Steve Jobs, 127 Hours) left the project due to reported creative differences. While Craig remained attached to the project, it was yet another blow to the long-gestating film that seemed destined for development hell.

Luckily, after about a month of searching, Bond 25 has found it’s new director: True Detective veteran Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Bond 25 is set to be released in theaters on February 14, 2020 –five years after the release of the previous film in the franchise, Spectre.

Police responded to a reported shooting incident at the Rite Aid Distribution Center in the Perryman area of Aberdeen, Maryland, on Thursday, September 20.

Update (11:25 a.m.): The Associated Press now reporting 3 are dead.

Update (11:05 a.m.): Police have confirmed that multiple people have been killed in the shooting. At this time, no suspects are in custody.

According to reports, multiple people have been shot at a business located in 1500 block of Perryman Road (near Spesutia Road) A report on Twitter from Jim Russ says at least three people shot with two shot in the head.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there are “multiple victims” on Twitter:

“We can confirm there was a shooting in the area of Spesutia Road and Perryman Road. Multiple victims. The situation is still fluid. Please avoid the area. Media staging area still TBD.”

At this time, there is no word on any suspects or confirmed fatalities. The Baltimore unit of the FBI and the ATF have also responded to the scene. The White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company said its paramedics also responded to the incident.

No further information has been provided by police.

The shooting in Harford County comes just one day after a shooting at a software company in Middleton, Wisconsin, that left four people injured.

The reports of shots fired in Harford County, Maryland — about 40 minutes northeast of Baltimore — is the is just the latest in a string of lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States.

Anthony Crawford, 23, has been arrested and charged in connection to the stabbing death of 35-year-old Wendy Martinez. Crawford has been charged with first-degree murder.

Martinez, 35, was out for a run in the 1400 block of 11th Street Northwest when she was stabbed multiple times around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18. Police say Martinez did not previously know her attacker and believe it was a random, unprovoked attack.

Before succumbing to her injuries, Martinez entered the nearby “Asian American” Chinese restaurant where customers attempted to help her. While the manager called 911, Martinez died of her injuries a short time later. Martinez was an avid runner who lived in an upscale apartment just three blocks away from the scene of her death.

The suspect fled and left the murder weapon at the scene. Police believe Crawford was the only person involved in the assault.

Crawford’s motive remains unknown and police will investigate whether he had any substance abuse or mental health issues in the past. He was not immediately identified following his arrest.

Police say that homicide detectives found Crawford at a park on 14th and Girard street. They say he had a home in northwest D.C. and was not homeless. Furthermore, Crawford has a criminal history and did not cooperate with police.

Furthermore, police say that a combination of security camera footage and witness cooperation led to the quick arrest of Crawford.

Washington D.C. Chief of Police Peter Newsham announced the details of Crawford’s arrest outside of the Chinese restaurant where Martinez tried to get help.

Martinez, the chief of staff at the software and data company FiscalNote, had just gotten engaged a week before her murder.

Her family released the following statement about Martinez’s death on Wednesday, September 19:

“We are deeply saddened by this senseless tragedy. Wendy Karina Martinez was the light of our lives. Not only was she an avid runner, but she was a devout Christian, a wonderful friend, and a driven professional. Everything you hope that a daughter and a friend could be.

She was also excited to be planning her upcoming wedding to her fiancé, Daniel Hincapie. They were engaged just last week. We ask that you respect our privacy as we grieve the passing of her beautiful soul and inform her friends and family of this terrible news. We also want to encourage the community to please contact the police with any information that may lead to finding justice for Wendy. The hotline number to call is 202-727-9099.

In April 2017, the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at Northwestern was suspended from the university for violating terms of a disciplinary probation by serving alcohol to minors.

Northwestern announced the suspension on Monday, April 24, 2017, stating that the SAE chapter at the school will be suspended until September 1, 2018, after they “repeatedly” hosted parties and provided alcohol to minors.

At the time, Sigma Alpha Epsilon said in a statement that it “maintains stringent guidelines and expectations for our members.”

Following their suspension, SAE returned to the Northwestern campus on September 19 and will remain on alcohol and disciplinary probation.

According to a release from the office of fraternity and sorority life, the fraternity’s national headquarters picked 17 undergraduates to be allowed to return out of about 35 originally eligible.

The SAE house will also have a house director living at the chapter full-time during the fall quarter to serve as a mentor, according to the release. To ensure the “safety and wellness” of students, the fraternity will be “addressing ongoing expectations and standards set forth by both the university and their headquarters through education and increased measures of accountability,” upon its return.

Last October, Northwestern’s inter-fraternity council announced it would not recognize SAE until 2021, the Daily reported. It said the local chapter had violated the terms of its suspension and continued to make the community “less and less safe.”

Earlier, a representative of SAE on the council claimed the fraternity has been the subject of harassment and death threats on the internet, according to the Daily, accusing the council of “discounting the rights of the accused.”

Furthermore, the news release said that the probationary period will last through the rest of the 2018-19 school year.

Jared Munoz, a former University of Houston fraternity pledge that spent days in the hospital after a hazing incident, has filed a suit against the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and 29 of its members. Munoz is seeking $1,000,000 in relief and damages.

Munoz claims that the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity to force him and other pledges to roll around in human waste and drink “scalding hot beer.” Furthermore, Munoz says that he was tackled while pledging which caused internal bleeding due to a lacerated spleen.

Munoz’s lawyers say that his injuries, which cost $35,000 in medical bills, are permanent.

The Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity currently faces a misdemeanor charge and is scheduled to be in court the week of September 24. According to ABC 13, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office said it presented evidence to the grand jury, which only voted to indict the fraternity.

“I’m thankful that I’m alive,” Munoz said to ABC 13. “I’m thankful I can look on this incident and provide some insight into it as a survivor.”

At the time of the fraternity’s indictment, Harris County District Attorney Kim Ogg said:

“Brotherhood and collegiate good times should be safe and hazing is not. It is also illegal and that should be recognized by the dozens of fraternities and sororities on college campuses all over the Houston area.”

The fraternity is suspended from the University of Houston until 2023.

Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team

Two women have faced felony drug charges after agents with the Chatham-Savannah Counter Narcotics Team found they were selling marijuana edibles at a church event in Savannah, Georgia.

Ebony Cooper, 28, and Leah Pressley, 26, were openly selling the THC (Tetrahydrocannabinol) laced baked goods at an event on Friday, September 14 while the church was hosting for local entrepreneurs, according to agents. They said there were various types of cereal treats, brownies and puddings for sale.

According to CNT’s Facebook post, agents bought a few products at the booth and kept an eye on Cooper. They followed both Pressley and Cooper to another location where they searched Pressley’s vehicle. They found a large number of marijuana edibles, more than $1,000 in cash, as well as a loaded gun. Agents said they believed Cooper had the gun in her possession while manning her booth at the church event.

“During CNT’s investigation, agents determined Cooper was actively advertising her edibles on various social media sites. In addition, Cooper was displaying the edibles on her table at the event. The edibles included a mixture of various types of cereal treats, brownies, and puddings,” wrote the Facebook post.

Based on CNT’s investigation, agents determined this event was hosted by an outside vendor and that the church was unaware of any illegal activities occurring on its property. Agents say all other vendors appeared to have been selling legitimate, legal goods.

Anthony Y. Tong, 43, has been identified as the person responsible for the active shooting at Esker Software in Middleton, Wisconsin that left four people injured. Tong was fatally shot by police and was the only death in the shooting.

According to reports, police received reports of an active shooter at the commercial building at 1850 Deming Way around 10:25 a.m. local time.

Multiple law enforcement agencies such as local police, the ATF, the FBI, and ambulances responded to the scene, with reports of upwards of 50 cop cars on the scene.

Four victims were taken to local hospitals with two in serious condition and one in critical condition.

At this time, police have not identified Tong’s motive for the shooting.

Due to the shooting, nearby Madison College ordered a ‘shelter in place’ at it’s West Campus at the time of the incident:

The school released a statement on Twitter saying: “Middleton PD & Dane County Sheriff are responding to an active shooter in Middleton, north of the West Campus. There is no active threat on campus at this time. If at West, shelter in place & standby for updates. Avoid the area north of West Campus into Middleton.”

Middleton Police Chief Chuck Foulke said that Tong’s name was not initially released for investigative purposes.

During the active shooting, the Middleton Police Department sent out the following alert message about the incident:

This is an emergency message from the Middleton Police Department. There is an active shooter in the area please lock all doors stay inside and shelter in place. Police officers are on scene at this time.

The suspect in the Rite Aid drugstore distribution warehouse shooting in Harford County, Maryland, has been identified as 26-year-old Snochia Moseley. She was reportedly a disgruntled temporary employee.

According to reports, three people were shot and killed at the Rite Aid warehouse business located in 1500 block of Perryman Road (near Spesutia Road).

Police say that deputies were dispatched to the reported shooting at 9:09 a.m. and were on scene within five minutes. Officers reportedly never discharged their weapons while responding to the scene.

CNN reported that Moseley shot herself in the head at the scene but did not die. She then shot herself in the head a second time before being taken to a hospital in critical condition where she was later pronounced dead.

According to Moseley’s Facebook page, she lived in Baltimore and is from Trenton, New Jersey.

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that there were “multiple victims” on Twitter.

Andrew Walker and Christopher Barksdale, two 19-year-old students at Texas Christian University, were arrested on Wednesday, September 19, and charged with hazing.

According to reports, Walker and Barksdale forced two freshman Kappa Sigma pledges to drink 15 vodka drinks and eat expired guacamole.

As a result of the forced alcohol intake, one pledge blacked out and the other was left intoxicated in his dorm room. One of the pledges was found unconscious in Barksdale’s room, causing another Kappa Sigma member to believe the pledge had died.

Upon finding the unconscious pledge, Kappa Sigma Members called an ambulance and he was taken to a hospital.

Barksdale, a former student, lived at the TCU Kappa Sigma chapter house, and Walker, who remains a student at TCU.

The following account of the incident was given in the arrest warrant, via The Star-Telegram:

The pledges were ordered to the Kappa Sigma fraternity house on Sept. 3 and told to bring a “handle” of Tito’s vodka. A “handle” refers to a 1.75 liter bottle of vodka. The order was sent by a text message from a cell phone owned by Barksdale.

The pledges arrived shortly after 4 p.m. on Sept. 3 with a bottle of vodka. The freshmen were introduced to Walker and a sorority member and directed to Barksdale’s room on the second floor. Barksdale called one pledge into a bathroom, handed him a beer and told him to drink the beer as fast as possible.

After that, Barksdale emptied a bottle of decorative sprinkles, and the pledges were ordered to sort them. If they failed to complete the task in a timely manner, they were forced to drink vodka. Barksdale and Walker yelled at the pledges as they tried to sort the sprinkles and ordered them to drink vodka

The pledges were ordered to drink from the bottle of vodka between 10 to 15 times. Walker and Barksdale made them drink as long as they were counting, according to the warrant. Both pledges were forced to eat expired guacamole.

University officials are conducting an investigation and all activities at the Kappa Sigma fraternity were suspended pending the results of the investigation.

This is just the latest incident of alcohol-related hazing that has ended in a lawsuit, injury, or death.

TCU Fraternity Accused Of Blindfolding & Burning Pledges During Hazing Rituals

Alexandria Kaluzny, a substitute teacher in Pennsylvania, has been accused of having sex with one of her students at Jersey Shore middle school.

25-year-old Alexandria Kaluzny of Salona, Pennsylvania, was arraigned on Thursday, September 20, on various charges that include deviant sexual intercourse.

According to reports, investigators believe that Kaluzny had an inappropriate relationship with a then 14-year-old student at Jersey Shore Middle School during spring of 2017.

Police say that Kaluzny had sex with the teenager over the next year and sent inappropriate pictures to the teen through social media.

The Jersey Shore School District released the following statement about Kaluzny on Thursday:

“This individual was recommended to the district by the university. Had appropriate clearances and was under the general supervision of employees during her placement.”

Kaluzny faces charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent and statutory sexual assault, endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors, disseminating sexual materials, unlawful contact with a minor and criminal use of a communication device.

She is currently being held at Lycoming County on $25,000 bail.

Kaluzny is just the latest teacher to be charged for inappropriate conduct. Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges. A woman named Kayla Sprinkles was arrested in North Carolina for similar sexual crimes.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

34-year-old Miranda Nicole Pauley was charged with similar crimes, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges. Keri Hoffman, 35, was also arrested for an alleged relationship with a student. Similarly, 29-year-old Tiffany Ranweiler-Oblander and 33-year-old Maren Oates were arrested on similar charges.

Most recently, 29-year-old Haylie Smart and 25-year-old Alaina Ferguson were charged with similar crimes.

The Alpha Tau Omega fraternity at the University of Kentucky has had its charter revoked following a deadly accident involving one of their pledges.

On Saturday, September 15, 18-year-old Jacob Heil — an Alpha Tau Omega pledge at UK — was arrested for driving under the influence around 2 p.m. after he hit and killed a 4-year-old boy.

According to reports, Heil allegedly hit a 4-year-old who was walking with his dad on Cooper Drive in Lexington during the university’s football game against Murray State on September 15. The 4-year-old tragically then passed away on Monday, September 17.

Following the tragic accident, the University of Kentucky temporarily suspended the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity before the National Fraternity Alpha Tau Omega announced it was closing the University of Kentucky chapter on Wednesday, September 19.

18-year-old Jacob Heil was a pledge of the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity when he was arrested Saturday and charged with DUI, after police say his vehicle hit four-year-old Marco Shemwell along Cooper Drive.

After the incident, Heil told officers he had just left a tailgate where he consumed two beers before getting behind the wheel. Earlier this week, the university suspended Heil along with Alpha Tau Omega pending investigation.

However, Alpha Tau Omega’s suspension was short lived as the fraternity’s national office revoked the chapter’s official charter Wednesday. The national office said violations to their health and safety policy highlighted in their own investigation led to the chapter’s closure.

The university is still moving on with their own investigation, as a hearing was held for members of the fraternity.

The national Alpha Tau Omega national organization released the following statement:

“Following an investigation conducted by the National Fraternity Alpha Tau Omega has revoked the charter of the University of Kentucky Mu Iota chapter. Violations of the Fraternity’s Health and Safety policy prompted the decision. The chapter is closed and ATO no longer has a presence on campus.”

Heil has entered a not guilty plea for his DUI charge.

Toya Wright, also known as Antonia Wright, is the ex-wife of rap star Lil Wayne. The two first et when they were children, but ultimately called their relationship quits. Despite no longer being a couple, Lil Wayne and Toya remain close friends.

“Wayne and I, we have a really good relationship,” she said in an interview with Essence Magazine. “It took us a minute to get to this point but I’m happy that we are here. When my brothers passed, he jumped on a jet and came immediately. When things are going wrong with him, I’m always there because before anything… I’m his friend and I’ve been in his life since we were like 13 years old.”

Toya is the mother of Lil Wayne’s daughter Reginae Carter, giving birth when she was just 15 years old. The couple got divorced in 2006 because of Lil Wayne’s lifestyle.

Edwin Meek, a former professor and donor at Ole Miss — has been accused of racism after posting photos of black women — one of which was Ole Miss student Mahoghany Jordan — and suggesting their presence at the school causes a decline in “real estate value and school enrollment.”

On Wednesday, September 19, Meek posted pictures on Facebook of two black women, writing “a 3 percent decline in enrollment is nothing compared to what we will see if this continues … and real estate values will plummet as will tax revenues. We all share in the responsibility to protect the values we hold dear that have made Oxford and Ole Miss known nationally.”

One of those pictured women was Mahoghany Jordan, who is studying computer science at the university. Senior biology major Ki’yona Crawford was also pictured.

The school’s Meek School of Journalism is named after Edwin, who is a donor and former professor who served as the university’s assistant vice chancellor for public relations and marketing for 37 years.

Jordan wrote a full response to Meek in a column for The Daily Mississippian:

Ed Meek’s post was not meant for me nor my good friend Kiyona Crawford. We weren’t the ones fighting Alabama fans at a tent in the Grove, we weren’t harassing our LGBTQIA+ counterparts, nor were we the ones fighting in front of bars around the Square. However, somehow for Meek, the blame for the university’s enrollment decline and city’s decline in property value was easier to associate with two women of color as opposed to the particular demographic that has been at the forefront of the school’s most controversial moments by far.

Meek has since apologized for his Facebook post, saying “I apologize to those offended by my post. My intent was to point out we have a problem in The Grove and on the Oxford Square.”

There is currently a petition to have Meek’s name removed from the journalism school, which was named for him after he donated $5.3 million in 2009.

As the famous saying goes, “what goes around comes around”, especially when it comes to trends.

Whether it be clothes or movies or video games, what was cool once in the past will one day be cool again in the future.

Just this week, Sony announced they would be releasing the PlayStation Classic: a $99 package that includes a retro PlayStation (which is 45% smaller than the original), 20 “genre-defining” games and two controllers. Pretty sweet deal if you ask me.

And now it seems that rival Nintendo will be recreating their most iconic console, as reports indicate a European trademark filing from the Japanese video game giant indicates that a “Classic Edition” of the legendary N64 is on the way.

A European trademark filing from Nintendo indicates that a “Classic Edition” of the original is in the works. That means a miniaturized version of the original system and its gamepad, a sub-$100 price point, and a gaggle of classic games built right into the console.

To be clear, Nintendo hasn’t announced such a console, nor has the company previously indicated it’s interested in making a “Classic Edition” of the original Nintendo 64. But we do have some clues from the filing that point to just such a console being in the works.

Nintendo told us the following when asked for comment last year: “We have nothing to announce on this topic.” We’ve reached out to see if they have anything else to add and will update when we hear back.

Nintendo has already dabbled in “classic consoles” with the release of the NES Classic Edition and SNES Classic Edition.

Given that Sony’s PlayStation Classic is set to drop on December 3 — just in time for the holidays, of course — many expect Nintendo’s 64 Classic to drop around that same time.

Katia Aveiro, born October 5, 1976, is the older sister of international soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Following Ronaldo’s red card in the Champions League group stage matchup against La Liga side Valencia at the Mestalla Stadium on Wednesday, September 19, Aveiro wrote on Instagram:  “Shame on football, justice will be done. They want to destroy my brother but God never sleeps.”

Ronaldo, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star who now plays for Juventus, was sent off in the first half against Valencia after he appeared to pull the air of an opponent.

While Ronaldo pleaded with the referee that he was innocent, he received the red card anyway and will miss his next three Champions League games as a result.
