Breastfeeding Mother Kate Hitchens Forced To Stand On Rush Hour Train

Kate Hitchens, a 32-year-old in England, was traveling home to Wickford from London during rush hour on Tuesday, September 4, with her six-month-old son Charlie. Despite the fact that she was breastfeeding, Hitchens was forced to stand on the busy rush hour train.

According to reports, despite the fact that commuters saw that Hitchens was nursing her six-month-old son Charlie, no one offered assistance until the “very end” of her 35-minute commute.

Hitchens, a blogger who is also a mother to a three-year-old, urged people to “be kinder” in an Instagram post where she described the incident.

via Instagram:

On my way home from London on a packed commuter train and this is what I faced.

What has the world come to that a mother has to stand up on a moving train breast feeding a wriggling and writhing 6 month old, 20lb baby?! The point here isn’t just that I found it difficult because I was nursing (although that was bloody difficult!), but that not one person offered a mother carrying a small child a seat for around half an hour, or 3 stops!

I could have asked, but I didn’t. I felt silly. I shouldn’t have to ask. Maybe some people didn’t see. I know for a fact some did; they made eye contact and actually smiled at me. I was thinking stop smiling and offer me your seat please!

One lady looked up from her book and immediately offered me her seat, another lady then sat in it and when the lovely lady said ‘Oh excuse me I actually gave up my seat so this lady with a baby could sit down’ the sitting lady shrugged, plugged her earphones in and closed her eyes!

I like to think that she needed that seat more than me, perhaps she was newly pregnant and in that early exhaustion period, perhaps she was knackered after a day at work, perhaps she was ill. Or perhaps she was just a twat. I hope not.

I can somewhat understand not offering your seat to someone elderly; perhaps they might be offended you think they look old! I can understand not offering your seat to someone you suspect might be pregnant; maybe it’s just their time of the month or perhaps they are just naturally curvy and they aren’t pregnant; perhaps you worry you might offend them.

I cannot get my head around not offering a parent with a child a seat.

Next time you see someone with a child on a train – if you’re able-bodied and fit and healthy please offer your seat to them!

Hitchens currently runs the parenting blog Hitchens’ Kitchen.

Cincinnati Police Department

Cincinnati Police released body-camera footage of Officer Kevin Brown moments after he tased an 11-year-old girl who was shoplifting. The incident happened at a Kroger’s grocery store on Monday, August 6.

Brown, a 55-year-old African America man, says in the video that “this is why there aren’t any grocery stores in the black community.”

Eliot K. Isaac, the Cincinnati Chief of Police, said in a statement that the department is “extremely concerned when force is used by one of our officers on a child of this age.”

Brown has since been placed on restricted duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

— ABC News (@ABC) September 6, 2018

The police report says that when Brown searched the child’s backpack, he found “clothing and consumable goods which included food and beverage” which was worth just over $53. The items found in the backpack included “candy and beef jerky, as well as infant clothing.” The backpack also belonged to the Kroger’s grocery store.

According to Cincinnati.com, this is not the first controversial incident involved Officer Brown. Two years ago, Brown was written up for using a homophobic slur in reference to an alleged domestic violence victim.

The Cincinnati Police Department released the following statement about the incident:

On August 6, 2018, a Cincinnati Police Officer working an outside employment detail at a local grocery store was investigating several female juveniles allegedly stealing items from the store. When the Officer approached one of the juveniles she ignored the Officer and coninuted to walk away, ignoring several commands to stop. The Officer deployed his Taser striking the eleven-year-old in the back. The juvenile was subsequently placed into custody and charged with Theft and Obstructing Official business. After being evaluated at Children’s Hospital Medical Center, the juvenile was released to a parent’s custody and will appear in Hamilton County Juvenile Court at a date in the near future.

Police Chief Eliot K. Isaac stated: “We are extremely concerned when force is used by one of our officers on a child of this age. As a result we will be taking a very thorough review of our politics as it relates to using force on juveniles as well as the propriety of the officers acions.”

The officer involved as been placed on restricted duty pending the outcome of the investigation.

Councilman Wendell Young, a former police officer, said of Brown: “I just don’t know if you have room on the police department for people like this. This guy, from what I am hearing, has serious issues. He apparently polices the way he feels.”

As for Brown’s punishment, that will be decided by Chief Issac. The punishment could range from counseling to termination and Brown has the right to appeal any decision.

Netflix

Netflix and Entertainment Weekly have released the first full trailer for Narcos: Mexico.

The show, now in its fourth season, has an entirely new cast, time period, and setting. Narcos: Mexico is headlined by Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars story) and Michael Peña (End of Watch).

Narcos: Mexico will explore the origins of the modern drug war, charting the rise of the Guadalajara Cartel in the 1980s.

via EW:

Narcos is also doing a total creative reset by going back to how it all began: The drug cartels, the DEA and their deadly cat-and-mouse game south of the border. Netflix’s bilingual drama has a new cast (led by Rogue One’s Diego Luna and End of Watch‘s Michael Pena), a new time period (early 1980s) and an entirely new setting (Mexico instead of Columbia).

As the urgent and stylish trailer hints, once again the drama is an ensemble tale of cops and cartels with moral ambiguity on both sides. But this time the primary focus is on two men: Crime boss Felix Gallardo (Luna), who united a collection of independent dealers, and DEA agent Kiki Camarena (Pena), the undercover operative determined to take him down.

Narcos: Mexico premieres on Netflix on Friday, November 16.

The Internet Tracked Down The Psycho Who Dunked Her Chicken Tender In Soda

In case you didn’t already know, Planet Earth is quite the strange place to live in 2018. Twitter is used to give official political statements, iPhones unlock by looking at them, and plastic straws have been ostracized.

And just when you thought the last couple of years were as weird as it gets, this certified psycho got sniped at the US Open dipping her chicken finger in her Coke:

Dumping movie candy into your popcorn is seen as acceptable. After being caught on camera at the US Open, a woman is asked whether dipping a chicken finger in soda is rational behavior. pic.twitter.com/raLmoFNk1u

— Darren Rovell (@darrenrovell) September 4, 2018

While Americans don’t agree on much these days, we all had the same reaction when it came to this borderline NSFW video and that reaction was ‘uhhhh WTF lady EW.’

And because we’re in 2018, not only did 26-year-old Greenfield go viral, but she was even interviewed by Sports Illustrated:

Dan Gartland: I guess the first thing I want to know is how you learned to do this?

Alexa Greenfield: My dad taught me. He had me doing it when I was really, really young. His reasoning was to cool them off. I don’t even know if that was really why he was having me do it. I can’t remember not doing it, literally.

DG: Would you try it with other fried foods like french fries or onion rings?

AG: I think one of my nieces did fries for a year or so. I didn’t do fries.

DG: Is it always Coke or could it be Sprite or Dr. Pepper?

AG: No, it has to be a regular coke—not even diet.

DG: My biggest concern, though—you’ve got this greasy chicken, you’ve got this ice-cold soda. Does it ruin the soda at all?

AG: That’s one of the primary questions I’ve been asked. I don’t drink the soda because, yes, it gets greasy. That’s too gross for me.

In addition to her quick interview with Sports Illustrated, she also appeared on Katie Nolan’s new ESPN+ series, Always Late with Katie Nolan, to recreate the madness with Katie:

Burt Reynolds Dead: How Did ‘Boogie Nights’ Actor Die?

Burt Reynolds has died in Florida at the age of 82-year-old.

Reynolds, one of the biggest American movie stars in history, starred in films such as DeliveranceThe Longest Yard, Smokey and the Bandit, Boogie Nights and more. For his performance in Boogie Nights, Reynolds was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor.

Reynolds was born on February 11, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan. He was recently cast in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, which is scheduled for release in August 2019.

via The Hollywood Reporter:

Reynolds, who received an Oscar nomination when he portrayed porn director Jack Horner in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights (1997) and was the No. 1 box-office attraction for a five-year stretch starting in the late 1970s, died Thursday morning at Jupiter Medical Center in Florida, his manager, Erik Kritzer, told The Hollywood Reporter.

Always with a wink, Reynolds shined in many action films (often doing his own stunts) and in such romantic comedies as Starting Over (1979) opposite Jill Clayburgh and Candice Bergen; The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) with Dolly Parton; Best Friends (1982) with Goldie Hawn; and, quite aptly, The Man Who Loved Women (1983) with Julie Andrews.

Though beloved by audiences for his brand of frivolous, good-ol’-boy fare, the playful Reynolds rarely was embraced by the critics. The first time he saw himself in Boogie Nights, he was so unhappy he fired his agent. (He went on to win a Golden Globe but lost out in the Oscar supporting actor race to Robin Williams for Good Will Hunting, a bitter disappointment for him.)

In Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, Reynolds was cast as George Spahn, an American rancher who once owned the Spahn Ranch near Chatsworth, Los Angeles, California that once housed Charles Manson and his followers. It is unclear whether Reynolds had completed shooting Once Upon A time In Hollywood.

Reynolds, who was twice married, is survived by his only son, Quinton Anderson Reynolds.

Reynolds was born on February 11, 1936, in Lansing, Michigan. Over the course of his career, he has won awards such as Best TV Actor – Drama (1970), Best Actor in a Motion Picture (1979) and Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor (1990 & 1997). Many Americans have spent hours on top of hours watching his movies and recognizing him as the “sex symbol” of the 70’s and 80’s.  His successes were not just limited to acting. He made a name for himself as a football star at Palm Beach High School and was talented enough to earn an athletic scholarship to Florida State University. Unfortunately, Reynold suffered injuries that sabotaged his football career. Not giving up in life, Reynold decided to pursue acting. But success didn’t come easy. He was fired from multiple places and got remarks such as his Adam’s apple was too big and that he wasn’t cut for acting. It wasn’t until the late 1950’s where he made his film debut in Angel Baby. From there on, his legacy began.

Not to be confused with National Beer Day which is celebrated on April 7, National Beer Lover’s Day is observed each year on September 7. National Beer Day is celebrated on the anniversary of the Cullen-Harrison Act (Beer Permit Act) which legalized the sale of low ABV drinks at the tail end of American Prohibition in 1933. This sacred date reminds American’s of a time when beer could not be enjoyed at will, allowing for an even greater appreciation of the drink. Five months later, however, is America’s other beer related holiday, though this one is dedicated to the avid drinkers rather than the refreshment itself. National Beer Lover’s Day marks a more personal holiday that allows the millions of beer lovers to convene at their local watering hole and sip on their beloved beverage in the company of others who share a mutual respect for ales, lagers, and IPAs.

The History of Beer in America

The brewing of beer has been around since the first men and women settled in America during the 16th century. Beer was prevalent in areas where the water was unsafe to consume, as the fermentation process of brewing got rid of any unwanted microbes in the water. Though there is a record of Native American’s brewing beer, the introduction of barley to the process can be traced to British and Dutch settlers in the Americas. British Ale dominated the American beer industry during the colonial period. It wasn’t until a massive influx of German immigrants in the 18th-century that lagers became popular due to a longer shelf life than traditional ales. Though America’s history with beer has roots into our colonial past, the passing of the 18th amendment in 1919 created a new, dry period in American history. Prohibition, in retrospect, seems drastically antithetical to American values. It took legislators fourteen years before the repeal of prohibition in 1933. Ever since this amendment to the constitution was repealed, beer has grown to become a part of American culture and a major player in the US economy. There are more than 3,000 breweries in America; and with the trend toward microbreweries and independent beer production, that number will undoubtedly increase in the coming years. Beer is a multi-billion dollar industry in America. It is easy to see why there are multiple annual holidays celebrated by Americans in commemoration of this glorious drink.

Kanye & Lil Pump Release A Bizarre Video For Their New Single ‘I Love It’

The number of opinions I have about this objectively bizarre yet oddly entertaining video is essentially endless, so I figure it’s best if we just bang them out with bullet points.

– I enjoy this light-hearted version of Kanye where he doesn’t take things so seriously anymore.  Fun Kanye is better for all of us, trust me.

– In the span of 24 hours, Kanye dropped this video and “creative directed” the PornHub awards. I (obviously) can’t show you the PornHub awards content here, but you can give it a quick Google search or just watch Lil Dicky’s hilarious Instagram story (which will expire at the end of the day.)

– Speaking of Kanye, what the hell happened to his guy’s musical talent? Yes, I get it’s a Lil Pump song, but these bars are far too weak for a man of Kanye’s borderline legendary status:

I’m a sick f*ck, I like a quick f*ck
I like my d*ck sucked, I’ll buy you a sick truck
I’ll buy you some new tits, I’ll get you that nip-tuck
How you start a family? The condom slipped up
I’m a sick f*ck, I’m inappropriate
I like hearin’ stories, I like that ho shit
I wanna hear more shit, I like the ho shit
Send me some more shit, you triflin’ ho bitch

– Is Kanye completely leaning into his millennial market? You may not realize this, but there are kids out there — around Lil Pump’s age — who think Kanye is best known for songs like “Black Skinhead”, having never heard throwback anthems like “Touch The Sky”. Is this the audience Kanye is trying to appease these days? With the Twitter, the fashion, the music, and the persona that he now puts out, it wouldn’t be a stretch to suggest that Kanye is trying to market himself to anyone who is 25 and younger.

– Not a huge Lil Pump guy, but this song is catchy as hell.

– Speaking of Lil Pump, say what you will about him, but the kid is 18-years-old and has Kanye West in one of his songs. That’s some baller shit, no way around it.

Following the interview, Musk’s Tesla stock dropped nine percent.

From CNBC:

Shares of Tesla plunged as much as 9 percent Friday after news of a pair of C-suite executive resignations and a bizarre video showing CEO Elon Musk smoking pot on a podcast, capping a tumultuous month since Musk launched the company into controversy with a take-private tweet.

The stock opened Friday’s session at $260.10 before paring losses slightly. Shares were roughly 7 percent down after the first hour of trading. It extends a painful week for the automaker. As of Thursday’s close, the stock had already lost 7 percent on the week.

On Friday morning, Tesla’s chief accounting officer Dave Morton resigned from his position after one month citing public attention.

“Since I joined Tesla on August 6, the level of public attention placed on the company, as well as the pace within the company, have exceeded my expectations,” Morton said in a statement. “As a result, this caused me to reconsider my future.”

Angela Kennecke: South Dakota News Anchor Reports On Daughter’s Death

On Wednesday, September 5, Angela Kennecke, a veteran news anchor in South Dakota, opened up on air about the death of her daughter Emily, who died in May due to an opioid overdose.

Kennecke, 52, has worked at CBS affiliate KELO-TV for 29 years.

On May 16, Kennecke’s 21-year-old daughter Emily died of an overdose. Her official cause of death was fentanyl poisoning. The last time Kennecke spoke to her daughter was three days prior on May 13, Mother’s Day.

According to the pathologist, Emily had more than six times the recommended medical amount of fentanyl which would be required for an adult male. Kennecke said her daughter was killed almost instantly.

via CBS News:

“I thought I can let this loss, this devastation, destroy me or I can do something about it. And over the course of my career I have asked so many parents to talk to me and just people in general who are grieving who have had horrible, tragic things happen to them …and I thought, I have to talk about it. I have an obligation to talk about it. My number one reason for talking about it is to erase the stigma that is surrounding addiction, especially the use of heroin, opioids,” Kennecke told “CBS This Morning” on Friday.

The number of Americans dying from drug overdoses is dramatically increasing. The CDC estimates overdoses killed more than 72,000 people last year and it has become the leading cause of death for Americans under the age of 50. Emily struggled with addiction for more than a year, though Kennecke had no idea the drug was heroin. She says she tried to get her daughter treatment, but was too late.

“It was the most shocking thing to me. Needles. Middle-class kid, privileged, you know all these opportunities,” Kennecke said. “I just feel so compelled to let everybody know what happened to my daughter can happen to you, can happen to your child.”

Following her daughter’s death, Kennecke launched Emily’s Hope, a fund in her daughter’s name to help people pay for the cost of treatment.

I'm issuing a personal plea to end the stigma surrounding addiction and a call for action regarding the opioid crisis! pic.twitter.com/Ayxlf43UQm
