A24, the studio behind Green Room, The Witch, Eighth Grade, Ex Machina, The Room and many more excellent films has released the first trailer for Slice.

Slice, which was written an directed by Austin Vesely, stars Chance the Rapper, Zazie Beetz (Atlanta), Will Brill (The OA), Joe Keery (Stranger Things), and Paul Scheer (The Disaster Artist). This will mark Chance the Rapper’s feature film debut. Vesely is a long-time friend and collaborator of Chance the Rapper’s, as he directed the music videos for “22 Offs,” “Brain Cells,” “Juice,” “Sunday Candy,” and “Angels.”

The official synopsis for Slice, which began production in 2016:

In a spooky small town, when a slew of pizza delivery boys are slain on the job, two daring survivors (Atlanta’s Zazie Beetz and Chance the Rapper in a wild film debut) set out to catch the culprits behind the cryptic crime spree.

While the official release date for Slice has yet to be announced, it is expected to premiere sometime later in 2018.

The schedule can dictate everything in college football. For better or worse, there is nothing that can have a more significant impact on a college football team. A year ago, the Northwestern Wildcats took advantage of a really weak schedule and put together an eight-game win streak that came out of nowhere. 2018 suggests the Wildcats won’t be so lucky this year facing one of the toughest schedules in the entire country. Avoiding Penn State and Ohio State is great, yet there still remains four, with the potential to five BCS contenders on the lineup. Yikes.

2018-19 Summary

Since being at Northwestern for over a decade, head coach Pat Fitzgerald has done a nice job of rebuilding the program and building competitive squads. 2017 saw one of his most excellent seasons yet, where the Wildcats finished the year with a remarkable 10-3 record. It wasn’t necessarily all that pretty, but his team found ways to win through winning the field position battle backed on a stingy defense. Quarterback Clayton Thorson returns, but the loss of star running back Justin Jackson could really expose him. The secondary will have some holes to be filled with some new faces, but the defense should still be tough with a stellar front seven. After one of the easier schedules’s a year ago that allowed the Wildcats to put together an eight-game win streak, 2018 could be a different story. Duke is no gimmie in week two, and could actually hand the Wildcats a tough matchup thanks to their experienced secondary. Back-to-back games against Michigan and Michigan State could be incredibly demoralizing, and if that doesn’t take it out of the Wildcats, good luck with an impossible back-to-back challenge against Wisconsin and Notre Dame. Not to mention Iowa, who could be a darkhorse BCS contender this year. A 6-6 record would be entirely acceptable for Fitzgerald group with this daunting schedule, but that would really be the best case scenario.

Fairfield High School in Alabama was placed on lockdown on the morning of Tuesday, August 21, after school officials say someone posted on social media threatening to do harm at the school.

According to reports, parents notified the school of the threatening social media post this morning, prompting some parents to remove their children from the school. Police arrived on the scene of the school and secured the area and say the area is safe at this time.

Fairfield Schools superintendent Dr. Regina Thompson says that police have identified a suspect and a warrant will be issued.

The lockdown at Fairfield High School is just the latest in a string of lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States. Over the course of the past few years, shootings and lockdowns such as these have been a scourge upon the country and people have struggled with coming up with a solution. Lockdowns have become all too common as a means of protection when students and faculty are in danger and today is no different.

This incident follows similar incidents at Dodd Middle School in Connecticut, Windham Public Schools also in Connecticut, Pacoima Middle School in Los Angeles, Millennium Middle School in Florida, and US Grant High School in Oklahoma, which are just some of the places where events such as this have occurred.

College endowments are an important part of funding education, and for Harvard University, they are working with the largest endowment in the world. The figures are determined by financial assets that are donated to the schools with the hope that they can provide future profit by investing in the establishment. Each year, only a portion of the school’s endowment can be spent, with about five percent of the total asset value being alotted.

Most endowments are managed by a nonprofit that works on providing the best investment results to help the university achieve its long-term goals while also providing support to sustain the university.

The Harvard endowment is currently the largest academic endowment in the world. Including the university’s pension assets, capital, non-cash gifts, and donations, the Harvard Management Company is working with $37.1 billion. Approximately 12,000 funds make up the endowment.

“Harvard’s endowment, the University’s largest financial asset, is a perpetual source of support for the University and its mission of teaching and research. The endowment is made up of more than 13,000 funds; the two largest categories of funds support faculty and students, including professorships and financial aid for undergraduates, graduate fellowships, and student life and activities,” the schools official website states.

It continues, “Harvard’s endowment is a dedicated and permanent source of funding that maintains the teaching and research mission of the University. Made up of more than 13,000 individual funds invested as a single entity, the endowment’s returns have enabled leading financial aid programs, groundbreaking discoveries in scientific research, and hundreds of professorships across a wide range of academic fields.

“Each year, a portion of the endowment is paid out as an annual distribution to support the University’s budget, while any appreciation in excess of this annual distribution is retained in the endowment so it can grow and support future generations. As a result, the endowment can provide the financial foundation for the University for generations to come.”

Bursting onto the scene, Reid was a member of the Best XI Freshman Team and a four-time ACC Honor Roll honoree. She has also trained with the United States women’s national team and was a member of the 2012 U-17 World Cup.

During her junior year at Duke, Reid found herself going viral on social media thanks to some photos on Instagram.

Reid was also featured on The Players’ Tribune, writing a strong essay about what it takes to be a student-athlete.

“It’s interesting, the difference between hearing about something and seeing it for yourself. I remember thinking that during an anatomy lab last month. Yes, you read that right. A Young Thug and Sir Elton John collaboration has leaked and it is surprisingly good.

A few years ago, Young Thug visited Elton John at his home to have a chat as John had told Noisey that he liked Young Thug’s music. As shocking as that might sound, it is not as strange as you might think. The conversation they had was a mutual appreciation for each other’s music and by the end of the meeting, the British rocker had sent an instrumental version of “Rocket Man” over to Young Thug.

On Tuesday, August 21st, a remixed version of “Rocket Man” leaked onto the internet, as first reported by Noisey. The song is as easy listening as it gets and Young Thug doesn’t try to do too much with the classic, as he uses “Rocket Man” as the chorus for his remix and raps over the mellow piano background with some hip-hop beats. Naturally, Young Thug also takes a turn on the chorus singing “I’m gonna be highhhh,” a perfect set-up for a trap ballad.

This song is a perfect example of a mash-up that defies expectations and turns into something truly special.

Young Thug is a rapper, singer, songwriter, lyricist, and producer from Atlanta, Georgia. He is best known for his songs like “Relationship” a song with fellow rapper Future, as well as “pick up the phone.”

He first burst onto the scene thanks to his mixtapes and collaborations with fellow Atlanta rappers such as Gucci Mane, Future, Birdman, and Rich Homie Quan. His most recent album release was 2018’s Slime Language, which was released on August 17th.

Larsa Pippen, 43, is best known for being the BFF of the Kardashian family and the wife of NBA and Chicago Bulls Hall of Famer Scottie Pippen. The pair got married in 1997 and have four children together.

A plane with 16 people on board is attempting to make an emergency landing at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey. According to reports, rapper Post Malone is on board. The plane, a Gulfstream Aerospace GLF-4 luxury jet, reportedly blew out two tires as it was taking off from the runway at Teterboro Airport.

Ryan Hutchins, the New Jersey bureau chief for Politico, tweeted that Post Malone is on the plane. The Gulfstream Aerospace GLF-4 aircraft was departing for Luton, England when the tires blew.

UPDATE: While the emergency crash landing was originally supposed to happen at Teterboro, the plane was diverted to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Springfield, Massachusetts, and then re-diverted to Stewart Airport in New York.

Reports indicate that the plane as 3,700 gallons of fuel to burn.

No injuries were immediately reported. Malone was scheduled to perform at the Reading Festival in Reading, England, on Friday, August 24.

Conor McGregor is set to make his long-awaited return to the UFC later this fall when he faces off against lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 229 on Oct. 6. If McGregor loses this fight, he will retire,” Robin Black said. “If Khabib loses this fight, not only does he lose his undefeated record, but these losses to someone like McGregor, when the temperature has been raised… these losses are painful, they change a fighter forever.”

Conor McGregor last fought in the UFC on November 12, 2016, defeating Eddie Alvarez to claim the UFC lightweight championship. At the time of his big win, McGregor became the first fighter in UFC history to hold two titles in two different weight classes simultaneously; he was also the featherweight champion at the time.

Since that fight, McGregor was stripped of both belts, welcomed his first child to the world, and dabbled in the boxing world for a superfight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Now, he is finally ready to step back into the cage to attempt to reclaim the title that he believes is still his.

Nurmagomedov, meanwhile, claimed the vacant UFC lightweight title at UFC 223 on April 7, 2018 in Brooklyn, New York. Nurmagomedov scored a unanimous decision victory win over Al Iaquinta in the main event. Khabib was initially scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson for the title, but the bout fell through in the final days leading up to the event and Iaquinta stepped up on short notice.

There are currently no other bouts scheduled for the event, but we can expect fights to be added in the coming weeks.

Mollie Tibbetts, a University of Iowa student who went missing more than a month ago, was reportedly found dead in rural Iowa on Tuesday, Aug. 21. While few details have been released, it is believed that the 20-year-old’s body was the one found after she went missing while jogging outside of her hometown of Brooklyn, Iowa.

Mitch Mortvedt, assistant director of the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, is set to provide an update on the situation at approximately 6:00 p.m. ET.

Tibbetts’ disappearance sparked an enormous search that involved local, state and federal authorities and volunteers.

Greg Willey, the vice president of Crime Stoppers of Central Iowa, says a body found Tuesday, August 21, is believed to be Tibbetts. Willey says a nearly $400,000 reward fund for her discovery will now become a reward for information leading to the capture of any suspects.

Richard Rahn, the special agent in charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation for the Major Crime Unit, said that more than 200 interviews have been conducted in the investigation into her disappearance.

While further details on the discovery of her body were not immediately available, police said that significant information will be released at the press conference later today. The press conference is at 6 p.m. EST.

Post Malone was involved in a private jet scare on Tuesday, Aug. 21. The hip hop star was in his jet when two planes blew during takeoff. After the incident occurred, Malone’s jet — which had 15 other passengers — continued to circle until it was cleared for landing.

Christian Bahena Rivera, 24, has been identified as the suspect who has been detained in connection the death of 20-year-old University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts. Rivera, an illegal immigrant, has been charged with first-degree murder. Tibbetts, the 20-year-old Iowa college student who was last seen July 18, was found dead on Tuesday, August 21.

According to the various reports, the suspect was taken into custody and is being held on a federal immigration detainer. Rivera, who is believed to have been in the area for “four to seven years”, was first approached by police on Monday, August 20. He was described by police as “compliant” and led authorities to Tibbetts’ body.

Authorities say that Rivera spotted Tibbetts as she was jogging when he decided to follow her around 385th street in Brooklyn, Iowa. Rivera says that at one point, Tibbetts took out her phone, told Rivera to stop following her, and began to run away. Rivera says he then began to chase after her and “blacked out” at that point.

The charge was filed more than month after Tibbetts went out for a jog and disappeared — and days after investigators searching for the missing Iowa college student said they were focusing their efforts on five locations.

For 34 days, federal, state and local authorities had scoured Poweshiek County for Tibbetts, and sifted through electronic data from her Fitbit, cellphone and social media accounts for any clue about what happened to the woman who was last seen alive while going for an evening run. They’d also interviewed nearly 1,500 people.

Authorities had narrowed their search to a carwash, Tibbetts’s boyfriend’s home, a truck stop and two farms.

Richard Rahn, the special agent in charge with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation for the Major Crime Unit, said that more than 200 interviews were conducted in the investigation into her disappearance.

Tibbetts’ autopsy will take place on Wednesday, August 22.

The Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity at Florida State University is being criminally investigated after a 20-year-old student was hospitalized in April with a skull fracture and brain bleeding.

According to the Tallahassee Police Department, the incident happened on the evening of April 9 at the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity on Heritage Grove Circle. The report, which was heavily redacted, says that a university officer responded to the Tallahassee Memorial Hospital on April 13 for the 20-year-old student who had been admitted for a skull fracture and two brain bleeds a few days prior.

In January, Alpha Epsilon Pi was removed from campus and was prohibited from being recognized after being found responsible for two hazing violations and two alcohol and vandalism violations last year.

A police report describes the incident as an aggravated battery resulting in great harm or disability. For the type of weapon used in the crime, the report lists “Hands/Fists/Feet”. The victim named in the report, a 20-year-old male FSU student, was hospitalized with a skull fracture and two brain bleeds.

A spokesperson for FSU confirmed that Alpha Epsilon Pi has been temporarily suspended “in response to an allegation of hazing” that is currently under police investigation. The university declined to comment further on the matter, citing an open investigation. TPD did confirm that the incident is under investigation and the State Attorney’s Office and the FSU Police Department are also investigating.

State Attorney Jack Campbell says he has been aware of the situation since the day of the incident and has been consulting with both FSU Police and TPD. Campbell says he has not yet made any decisions on whether charges will be filed, or what those charges may be.

“We recognize that everyone would like to have this decided or resolved quickly, but I am not going to rush it,” Campbell said.

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority investigation, suspension or closure in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who was shut down for hazing and the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State, West Virginia University, and Penn State University have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

Rebecca Carol Swinson, a 38-year-old former East Forsyth High School teacher, has been accused of having sex with a male student and taking incident liberties with another male student on the school’s campus.

According to the Kernersville police, Swinson, of Winston-Salem, has been charged with 16 counts of indecent liberties with two students and three counts of sex acts with one of the students. The alleged incidents reportedly happened during the fall semester of 2017 on the East Forsyth High School campus. The arrest warrant indicates that some of the offenses happened in early November 2017.

While police said that the investigation began on July 30, investigators did not disclose how they learned about the allegations against Swinson.

Swinson was being held at the Forsyth County Jail with her bond set at $150,000 and was later released from custody after she posted bond.

Brent Campbell, a spokesman for Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools, said that she had been teaching at East Forsyth High since 2007.

Swinson’s lawyers released the following statement:

“Rebecca Swinson was an English teacher, cross-country coach, and member of the East Forsyth High School community for 5 years. When Rebecca learned of the charges against her she cooperated with law enforcement and turned herself in. Due to the nature of the charges, it is tempting to rush to judgment; however, we would caution the public against doing so. This is a very difficult time for Rebecca, her family, and dear friends. We would ask that she and all of the individuals involved be given privacy. We have great confidence in the legal process and that justice will be served for Rebecca and those involved.”

Swinson is just the latest teacher to be charged for an inappropriate relationship with a teenager. Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges. A woman named Kayla Sprinkles was arrested in North Carolina for similar sexual crimes.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

In addition, 31-year-old Nicole Marie Andrews, 32-year-old Jessica Langford, 29-year-old Andrea Baber, 27-year-old Robin Dunlap, 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro have also been charged with these charges.

34-year-old Miranda Nicole Pauley was charged with similar crimes, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges. Keri Hoffman, 35, was also arrested for an alleged relationship with a student. More recently, 29-year-old Tiffany Ranweiler-Oblander and 33-year-old Maren Oates were arrested on similar charges.

Kristian Marche, a star track and field athlete who was set to attend Penn State University on scholarship, was gunned down one day before he was set to move to campus. Marche was murdered on Aug. 13, being shot in the head in his driveway. On Wednesday, Aug. 22, it was announced that one suspect has been arrested in connection to the murder of Marche.

The suspect’s name was not released, and a second suspect remains at large.

According to police, the suspects are age 15 and 16. The suspect who was taken into police custody was the 15-year-old boy. There is no motive for the murder.

“He was a good kid, on his way to a great education and future and someone in an act of cowardice just cuts him down,” said Jack Duncan, a mentor of Marche’s as part of the organization Focused Athletics, via local news station “He did his SATs, went to school, got good grades, he took care of his teammates, the kid did everything right. For him to end like this it’s heartbreaking,” he said. in Philadelphia. “He did his SATs, went to school, got good grades, he took care of his teammates, the kid did everything right. The organization will now be launching a scholarship fund for the highest-scoring SAT student in his honor. Marche, who was also a standout football player, had recently graduated from Imhotep Institute Charter High School.
