Bud Light

Cleveland Browns fans have been suffering for quite a long time. The franchise’s last win came in Week 16 of the 2016 regular season against the San Diego Chargers. After going winless in 2017, the Browns and their faithful are looking for some beacon of hope and that has now come courtesy of Bud Light.

On Tuesday, Aug. 14, Bud Light announced that they are teaming up with the Browns organization with an offer that is sure to add some joy to the long-awaited win.

The Browns will be introducing “Victory Fridges” that are filled with Bud Light bottles. 10 of the fridges will be placed in Cleveland-area bars and will be locked. Once the Browns break their losing streak, the refrigerators will be unlocked through a WiFi controlled electromagnet and then fans will be able to enjoy some free beers.

“The Bud Light Browns ‘Victory Fridge’ is a fun way to celebrate and reward a fanbase that has never wavered in enthusiasm or dedication for their team no matter what happens,” said Andy Goeler, Vice-President of Marketing, Bud Light. “We’re proud to show our support for Cleveland, and we’re always looking to bring NFL fans and friends together for memorable experiences. It’s going to be fun to be part of the celebration when the team earns their first victory of the season.”

Bud Light previously teamed up with Philadelphia Eagles offensive lineman Lane Johnson provide free beer to fans along the team’s Super Bowl victory parade route.

In order to be eligible for the 200 to 300 bottles of Bud Light inside of each of the fridges, all you have to do is be inside the bar when the clock strikes zero and the Browns hold the lead. You must also have been carded by the time the clock hits zero.

Let’s hope the Browns don’t have to wait too long to enjoy a cold Bud Light.

Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Football 2018-19: Predictions & Preview

$

0

The evolution of college football has been a crazy thing. We’ve gone from a game that went from 100 percent rushing to a pass crazy league similar to the NFL. The unique part about the game is that teams still use that full rushing attack. Some coaches believe it still the better tactic with the right guys in each position. Navy and Army are the usuals that everyone recognizes still uses it because we would assume soldiers could outrun and withstand hits better than any other players. Paul Johnson, coach of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets has also installed this system for his team and has had some success with it over the years. After a poor 2017 season with a tough schedule in 2018, the path to success seems far away.

2018-2019 Summary

Instagram Photo

Paul Johnson and his famous triple-option offense could see a rough go in the 2018-2019 season. With USF and Georgia on the schedule for their out of conference game; this is not doing them any favors. The Yellow Jackets are a unique team that can see quite a large amount of success when they have a quarterback who can complete a pass on the big plays. Their wishbone attack will always produce positive numbers in the ground with quarterback TaQuan Marshall rushing for over 100 yards six times a season ago. If Georgia Tech does pull off a week two victory against a very talented USF team and also win the early conference game against Pitt, this season could go much differently than we have it. With that said, their defense is a mess with holes on every level, so this outcome is unlikely at best.

Record: Wins 7, Losses 5

Week 1: Georgia Tech 38, Alcorn State 7 (W)
Week 2: Georgia Tech 28, USF 30 (W)
Week 3: Georgia Tech 24, Pittsburgh 30 (L)
Week 4: Georgia Tech 13, Clemson 28 (L)
Week 5: Georgia Tech 41, Bowling Green 20 (W)
Week 6: Georgia Tech 21, Louisville 18 (W)
Week 7: Georgia Tech 25, Duke 13 (W)
Week 8: Bye
Week 9: Georgia Tech 17, Virginia Tech 23 (L)

Nebraska Department of Correctional Services

Carey Dean Moore, a 60-year-old man who has served 38 years on death from for a crime he committed in 1979, is set to be executed in Nebraska on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Moore will become the first inmate executed in the state of Nebraska in more than 20 years and the first to be put to death by a controversial drug cocktail which includes the opioid Fentanyl.

Moore has been behind bars for shooting and killing cab drivers Reuel Van Ness and Maynard Helgeland, according to the Omaha World-Herald. He committed the crime when he was just 21 years old.

Moore had been fighting the state’s efforts to execute him for years, but he decided to stop fighting and reportedly told friends he was ready to die. His execution took place Tuesday morning at approximately 10:00 a.m.

The lethal injection includes diazepam, muscle relaxant cisatracurium, potassium chloride and fentanyl. It must be administered precisely and in the correct order with the end result being to sedate Moore, paralyze him, and then ultimately stop his heart. From the Omaha World-Herald:

— 2 milligrams of diazepam (a sedative) per kilogram of body weight followed by additional doses until the inmate is unconscious. A 50 cc saline flush will follow the diazepam.

— 25 micrograms of fentanyl (a powerful opioid painkiller) per kilogram of body weight, followed by a 50 cc saline flush.

— 1.6 milligrams of cisatracurium (a paralyzing drug intended to stop the inmate’s breathing) per kilogram of body weight followed by a 50 cc saline flush.

— 240 milliequivalents of potassium chloride (a drug that causes heart attack in high doses) followed by a final saline flush.

The controversy stems from the fact that if the cocktail is not administered correctly, it could inflict great pain.

According to University of Nebraska College of Law professor and lethal injection expert Eric Berger, if the substances do not work as planned and he is not properly sedated before the potassium chloride is injected, Moore could feel like he’s being “burned alive from the inside.”

The American Civil Liberties Union of Nebraska filed a motion to delay Moore’s execution, but it was unsuccessful. According to Steve White of NTV, Moore was first injected at 10:24 a.m. and pronounced dead at 10:47 a.m.

Nebraska reinstated the death penalty in 2016. The state’s last execution took place in 1997 and was by way of the electric chair.

Zion Williamson is an athletic freak. Since the time he was 16 years old, the standout forward was an internet sensation thanks to his high-flying dunks and ability to dominate opponents. During his high school career, we would consistently see Williamson clowning opponents and throwing down some of the most impressive in-game dunks you will ever see. Now that he has committed to play for the Duke Blue Devils, we shouldn’t expect any of that to change.

In fact, during a recent shootaround, Williamson flashed his insane leaping ability while playing around with teammate R.J. Barrett.

The two players attempted to throw down dunks from the free throw line. Barrett went first and was just a foot over the line for his jam. Then, Williamson came sprinting into the lane and left his feet at the line before staying airborne all the way to the rim as his teammates erupted.

Check out Williamson’s incredible dunk.

Now standing 6-foot-7, 285-pounds with an insane 45-inch vertical leap, Mike Krzyzewski and the Duke Blue Devils have a budding star in Durham.

What’s The Most Important Lesson You Will Learn In College?

Most Important Lesson In College

Shutterstock

What is the most important lesson you will learn in college? With classes starting up across the country and students preparing to head to campus for the fall semester — possibly for the first time in their college careers — there are plenty of unknowns and circumstances that you may never have expected to find yourself in. But at the end of the day, the goal remains the same: get your education and diploma before heading out into the real world.

What you may not know, however, is that the most valuable lesson from your time in college may not be the piece of paper you walk away with at the end of four years.

It could be the habits you develop.

Marcus Lemonis, a self-made millionaire, and entrepreneur who currently hosts “The Profit” on CNBC where he attempts to help struggling entrepreneurs with their businesses sounded off on the importance of a formal education and his answer may surprise you.

Lemonis, who graduated from Marquette University with a degree in political science, says its more about the “regimen” of college than the degree you earn.

“For me, it’s more of the principle… the structure, the discipline or the understanding that you’re accountable for something,” Lemonis said while speaking with CNBC Make It.

“When people are unable to get a formal education, it’s not the education that I’m worried about them missing — it’s the structure and the discipline and the accountability that I want to know they have. You have to show up for class, have to turn in a paper, you get a grade. You’re starting to build this process where you are given a task you have to perform and you’re judged on it. In my mind, going to school is a job. It is your job to show up on time, to listen to your authorities, to perform the task, to excel at the job.”

Lemonis is the Chairman and CEO of Camping World, a company valued at nearly $2 billion, so he certainly knows what it takes to gain success.

While we may not all end up with that kind of money in our bank accounts down the line, listening to what Lemonis says about the importance of developing productive habits is something that should resonate in everyone’s minds during their college careers. It’s certainly a good foundation to have.

Tracy Beanz Diaz: Full Story Of QAnon Conspiracy Theorist

$

YouTube/The Hagmann Report

Tracy Diaz, who also goes by Tracy Beanz, has been identified as one of the internet conspiracy theorists who has helped the “QAnon” conspiracy theory crack into the mainstream. What was once a wild theory that started on Reddit and 4chan, “QAnon” has been gaining more play after signs promoting the conspiracy theory and some saying “We Are Q” have begun popping up at rallies for President Donald Trump across the country.

In a report by NBC News, Diaz has been identified as one of the people who helped “spark some of the first conversations about Qanon” online.

For those who don’t know, QAnon claims to leak intelligence about a top-secret war between the Trump administration and a group of people who engage in criminal activity led by Hillary Clinton and the far-right’s beloved “Hollywood elite” target.

Diaz is no stranger to the internet world. She previously hosted a relatively unknown talk show named “TD Uncensored With Tracy Diaz” and has also popped up on various fringe YouTube channels discussing the far-right’s most favorite wacky conspiracy theories like PizzaGate. Recently, her love of QAnon alleged led to the relocation of a thread to Reddit where it could reach a wider audience outside of 4chan.

“I recommended we start the CBTS Reddit board. And the Reddit was born. Initially I was very involved with modding and talking to folks over there, but at the time, I was working a full-time job, doing this research, and being a wife and mother, and it just got to be too much, so I handed the reins over to the anons to take care of the board instead,” she wrote in a blog post.

Since diving deeper into conspiracy theories, the Tracy Beanz YouTube account has continued to gain popularity, as NBC News notes.

Diaz’s YouTube channel now boasts more than 90,000 subscribers and her videos have been watched over 8 million times. More than 97,000 people follow her on Twitter. Diaz, who emerged from bankruptcy in 2009, says in her YouTube videos that she now relies on donations from patrons funding her YouTube “research” as her sole source of income.

She consistently covers fringe conspiracy theories and gives her takes on the ongoing Robert Mueller investigation, who QAnon believes think is working with Donald Trump to expose thousands of pedophiles who hold prominent roles like Hillary Clinton, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama.

You can read the full profile of Diaz and others who push the QAnon conspiracy theory into the mainstream on NBC News.

College Football is a sport that is unlike anything else. Thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of people, are crammed into stadiums around the country to watch their favorite team go to battle on the gridiron. Like in every sport, there are rivalries that make the games even more intense and personal for those in the stands and on the field. Rivalries make any sport great and College Football houses some of the best rivalries in the world. These schools hate each other with a burning passion and want absolutely nothing to do with each other. Let’s take a look at the best College Football rivalries and see which one is the best of them all.

10. Michigan State vs. Michigan: Battle For The Paul Bunyan Trophy

Instagram Photo

Michigan leads the series 69-36-5

There is perhaps no bigger game in the state of Michigan than this one. Spartans and Wolverines. Both teams recruit the state of Michigan heavily, families are torn between the two schools, if you mention Wolverines or Spartans to opposing fan bases, their blood boils. These two schools hate each other. After Michigan running back Mike Hart called Michigan State their little brother after a 28-24 win in 2007, Michigan State has won eight of the last ten in this game since that loss. It’s personal for both sides and there’s no mistaking that this is one of the most heated rivalries in all of College Football. The 2015 meeting proved to be one of the most dramatic games as Michigan punter Blake O’Neill dropped a snap with 10 seconds left and Michigan State’s Jalen Watts-Jackson scooped up the ball and raced to the end zone as time expired to give Michigan State a dramatic 27-23 win in a game that they were losing for almost the entire 60 minutes.

9. Florida vs. Georgia: World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party

Instagram Photo

Georgia leads the series 51-43-3 (Per Georgia), Georgia leads the series 50-43-3 (Per Florida)

When two teams have a discrepancy about who won a game in 1904 (per Georgia), you know these two hate each other. Florida claims that their 1904 meeting with Georgia didn’t count as a loss because it was before they moved to their permanent location in Gainesville. However, Georgia still counts the game as a win even if it was before Florida moved to its current spot in 1906. Jacksonville, Florida in the last week of October becomes an absolute insane asylum when these two teams come to town. With this rivalry dating back to 1915 (per Florida), there is no doubt that the SEC brings the heat when it comes to rivalries in College football. Jacksonville has been the permanent site of this game since 1933 and it has also been one of the crazier rivalries in recent memory. In the mid-2000’s, Florida was wiping the floor with Georgia. In the 2007 meeting, Georgia scored the opening touchdown of the game and the entire team rushed the field in order to fire up the Bulldog fans. At the time, Head Coach Mark Richt was more than fine with all of the unsportsmanlike conduct penalties that were called on his players. It’s no secret that these two severely dislike each other.

8. Clemson vs. South Carolina: The Palmetto Bowl

Instagram Photo

Instagram Photo

Clemson leads the series: 69-42-4

Clemson and South Carolina have been battling for state bragging rights since 1896 and have met a total of 115 times. The 2004 meeting proved the point that these two teams love to hate each other due to the massive brawl that occurred in the middle of the game. After some pushing and shoving after a play, both benches emptied onto the field, punches were thrown, players were wrestled to the ground and kicked, police had to come onto the field and clean up the brawl, and even the coaches got into heated arguments. The 2004 brawl was a straight on street fight and that intensity is always present when these two in-state rivals step on the field for the final game of their respected regular seasons.

7. Notre Dame vs. USC: Battle For The Jeweled Shillelagh

Instagram Photo

Notre Dame leads the series 47-37-5

Notre Dame against USC is perhaps one of the best non-conference rivalries in College Football and it has definitely provided some of the most memorable games. The 2005 game proved to be one of the best games of all time. USC was bound for yet another National Championship run and Notre Dame was in the way. Down 31-28 with under 10 seconds left, USC quarterback Matt Leinart was pushed into the end zone by Reggie Bush and the play famously became known as the “Bush Push.” USC went on to win the game 35-31 in perhaps one of the wildest and controversial endings in College football history.

6. Harvard vs. Yale: The Game

Instagram Photo

Yale leads 67-59-8

Dating back to 1875, these two Ancient Eight schools have played each other 134 times. I have been to three Harvard Yale games and all three of them were unlike anything I’ve been to before. Both teams set football back about 50 years and there is more pranking going around than football being played. Yes, College Gameday did come to Cambridge in 2014 when both teams were 9-0 and the winner would be the outright Ivy League Champion. However, Yale students dressing up as Harvard fans in 2004 getting other Harvard fans to hold up signs that said “We Suck,” goes to show that this is truly a different kind of College Football atmosphere. In 2016, Yale students stood up on the large walls separating the field from the stands inside Harvard Stadium completely nude. Yeah, that was a lot of fun to witness. The Harvard Yale rivalry is a spectacle to see and it is definitely one of the best old-time rivalries in College Football.

5. Miami vs. Florida State

Instagram Photo

Miami leads the series 32-30

Canes and Seminoles. The U against the Tomahawk Chop. When you think of Miami and Florida State, you think of players like Deion Sanders, Anquan Boldin, Michael Irvin, Ed Reed, Jalen Ramsey, Santana Moss, and a number of others that starred in college, and in the NFL. This battle between two in-state powerhouses was once dominated by Florida State. However, with Miami returning to national prominence again, this rivalry should become even more interesting. In a number of meetings, special teams have either won or lost the game for each side. In 1991, 1992, and 2000, Florida State had a series of missed kicks to win the game called “Wide Right I,” “Wide Right II,” and “Wide Right III” respectively. In 2002, Florida State lost on another kick affectionately called “Wide Left.” In 2016 with Miami down 20-19 looking to tie the game on an extra point, Florida State blocked Miami’s extra-point attempt and recovered the ensuing onside kick to preserve a 20-19 win. This rivalry has given fans some of the best games in College Football and the rivalry is only going to intensify from here on out.

4. Texas vs. Oklahoma: The Red River Rivalry

Instagram Photo

Texas leads the series 61-46-5

Boomer Sooner and Hook em Horns. The Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas is home for this historic rivalry. These two College Football blue-bloods first met back in 1900. The two teams have met 112 times and each meeting brings even more hate. This rivalry is more than just about football. The two states border each other, there is a large cultural difference, past border disputes are still bickered about, and there are large economic differences. There have been cases of players leaving Norman, Oklahoma to go play at Texas and there have been players leaving Austin, Texas to go play at Oklahoma. These two hate each other so much. However, it’s not quite on the same level as one of the other rivalries that will be mentioned later.

3. Army vs. Navy

Instagram Photo

Navy leads the series 60-51-7

The Army-Navy rivalry is unique in its own way that can’t really be described. This is a bucket list game for sure. The two service academies first met in 1890 and this game has given College Football fans something to look forward to on the second Saturday or December. If you want to see passes being thrown down the field like in the Big 12, you’re out of luck. Both teams run the flexbone triple option offense and it won’t come as a surprise if both teams combine for zero passes in the game. In all seriousness though, if you didn’t see the 2017 matchup being played in heavy snow in Philadelphia, Army’s all-white uniforms blending in like camouflage, and Navy’s Blue Angel tribute uniforms, go watch it right now. If Army-Navy in the snow doesn’t make you want to run through a wall, I don’t know what will.

2. Auburn vs. Alabama: The Iron Bowl

Instagram Photo

Alabama leads the series 45-36-1

Roll Tide and War Eagle. Dating back to 1893, this rivalry is easily one of the most heated rivalries in all of sports. The Auburn and Alabama dilemma splits the state in half and families are split. Most of the time, the winner of this game will be the SEC West Division Champion. Emotions are mostly kept in check for this game but it has also given the College Football world some of the greatest games from Bo Over the Top in 1983, the Camback in 2010, and the kick-six in 2013. The Iron Bowl is one of College Football’s most crowned jewels. The last weekend in November in either Tuscaloosa or Auburn, Alabama unites a state through the game of football, and sincere hatred for each other. Both teams hate the life out of each other and would wish ill on the opposition. SEC rivalries are hardcore.

1. Ohio State vs. Michigan

Instagram Photo

Michigan leads the series 58-49-6

These two states have hated each other since long before Michigan or Ohio State existed. Territorial disputes about the Toledo strip caused a rivalry between the states and it’s only fitting that Ohio State and Michigan have hated each other since 1897. This shouldn’t come as any sort of surprise here. Buckeyes and Wolverines. Bo and Woody. Tressel and Carr. Meyer and Harbaugh. Ohio State and Michigan is easily the best rivalry in all of sports. These two have a hatred for each other that can’t be properly described. It’s extremely personal or each side as Ohio State has plenty of players from Michigan, and Michigan has plenty of players from Ohio. Players on both sides were recruited by both schools and the hate runs deep. Coming from a Penn State student, we hate both teams. However, when we see that these two lovebirds are playing on the last Saturday of November, it’s time to get the popcorn ready and watch the slugfest of a lifetime. It doesn’t matter what sport it is, these two will bash each other about anything regardless of the time and place. It’s rather comical that two of the most annoying teams in all of College Football hate each other. Each year, the Ohio State and Michigan game brings even more absurdity to an already heated rivalry. There is no doubt that this rivalry will remain the top rivalry in the world.

The Best College Dorms In America 2018

Best College Dorms In America

Ah, dorm life. Most of us spent our first year or years of college in cinderblock bomb shelters where plastic bags covered metal detectors and vom covered communal bathrooms. This ultimate bonding exercise created lifelong memories and new strains of STDs.

For many students, though, dorming means spacious rooms and state of the art facilities. Over the past couple of decades, schools have been putting millions upon millions of tuition dollars towards new housing to justify robbing us blind. A majority of these new dorms are apartment-style suites, and many include amenities that our parents could not have dreamed of. On the other end of the spectrum, some schools have maintained dorms for over a century which are beautiful enough to put the greatest modern architecture to shame. We’ve combed through residence halls of all shapes, sizes and ages to determine the schools that offer the best dorms in the country. So without further ado and in no particular order, here is our list of the 24 best college dorms in the US.

High Point University

Instagram Photo

You likely haven’t heard of High Point before, but if you have, it was probably because of their crazy amenities. Unsurprisingly, their dorms are as luxurious as their top-ranked student center. HPU has a five-tier housing system. Above tier one, which is mostly for freshmen and consists of traditional doubles, students must pay extra. Benefits of upper-tier units range from full beds to private bathrooms to marble tile flooring. Students can hang out at one of the five outdoor heated pools and Jacuzzis or nearby fire pits after grabbing a snack at the free ice cream truck. But the most bougie dorm is the R.G. Wanek Center and University Center II, where you can catch a movie at the 200-seat movie theater on the first floor after grabbing dinner at the upscale steakhouse on the fifth.

Bowdoin College

Instagram Photo

The eradication of Greek life in 1997 lead to fraternity houses at Bowdoin being repurposed as swanky dorms called “College Houses”, which are expected to plan events that will strengthen college culture. These houses are designated for lucky upperclassmen who have gone through an application process to prove that they would be valued members of the community. Possibly as a throwback to a simpler time, every Bowdoin student is assigned a telephone number for their four years, and all rooms (not just in the College Houses) come equipped with a phone.

Washington University in St. Louis

Instagram Photo

Students at WashU may choose a “traditional dorm” with a communal floor bathroom, but most of the dorms are “modern dorms” with four to six-person suites. All students benefit from Tempurpedic mattresses (*gasp*) and a cleaning staff. The South 40, where the many dorm buildings are split into different “residential colleges”, is where most students end up living. The residential area acts like it’s own little pedestrian-friendly town filled with student-run stores within arms reach. South 40 House even has a rooftop garden. Bonus: for those willing to shell out a few hundred more dollars per semester, the student-run laundry service may take some of the stress out of dorm life.

Rice University

Instagram Photo

Like a few of the other schools featured on this list, Rice randomly sorts their students into residential colleges (with their own traditions and rivalries) that they will belong to for the rest of their undergrad career. Most students live in the dorm of their associated college, which all offer their own in-dorm facilities like dining halls. Some dorms have energy-efficient bathroom pods in each room which were once on exhibit at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. As icing on the cake, all on-campus residents are given complimentary HBO Go and Philo. There is even an app for the campus laundry service.

University of Texas, Austin

Instagram Photo

If using the fully furnished apartments, pool, 24-hour gym, computer lab, game room and theater room in the Callaway House sounds stressful to you, don’t worry: a maid service is there to clean up any mess you make. This is freshmen living at it’s finest.

Florida Gulf Coast University

As if being 15 minutes from the gulf coast isn’t enough, FGCU freshmen in South Village live in suites with a resort style pool, movie theaters, fitness centers and game rooms. Besides recreational amenities, those same dorms include a full-service dining hall, first-year classes, tutoring labs and academic advising. North Lake Village and West Lake Village are situated directly on the campus waterfront.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology

Instagram Photo

M.I.T. students have plenty of opportunities to take a break from the school’s famously rigorous academics in Simmons Hall, known far and wide as “The Sponge”. The most noteworthy addition to this 5,500 window building (designed by architect Steven Holl) is a giant ball pit. Simmons has the biggest rooms on campus, and all rooms have either a private bathroom inside or a bathroom shared with the neighbors, still conveniently placed right outside the door. Singles come with nine windows, doubles come with eighteen, and walls often take strange “curvilinear” forms. It is an aesthetic most reminiscent of Rolie Polie Olie. If you’re still not satisfied with your living situation, the hall holds House Meetings in their two-story theater every other week to make and vote on proposals for the dorm. According to their website, residents are pushing for “hot tubs, ziplines, and teleporters.” One successful proposal brought a telescope to the roof.

Pomona College

Instagram Photo

Pomona’s château-like dorms seem too good to be true. Not only are the halls beautiful (some include fireplaces with crown tiling if that’s indicative of anything), a whopping 75% of rooms are singles. The two new dorms, which are certified LEED Platinum and some of the most environmentally-friendly dorms in the country, have a different kind of charm. Sontag Hall has daylight sensors and a rooftop garden, while Dialynas Hall houses an Outdoor Education Center and a rooftop classroom. The fact that only 2-3% of the student body opts out of dorm life speaks for itself.

Yale University

Yale University

Shutterstock

Every Yalie is randomly assigned to one of four “residential colleges” before their freshman year where they will live for all eight semesters. All residential colleges have a library, dining hall, gym, music practice room, TV room, and dzope courtyards. There are also theaters, dance studios and recording studios for all those rappers Yale is notorious for churning out. Rory Gilmore, lay down that fat track if you will. Some colleges even have pottery studios, woodshops, printing presses, museums, bookbinding studios, fabric arts studios and game rooms. Each basement has a Buttery: a snack bar that sells cheap, late-night eats (read: drunk food). If you’re thinking, “I have some of that stuff in my dorm!”, don’t kid yourself. The foyer of just one of these colleges is likely nicer than all of your school’s dorms combined, duh. The Heads of Colleges also host afternoon teas, which are opportunities for students to meet in small groups with guest speakers. We’re talking Denzel Washington. Even if Denzel’s career took a 180, sending him spiraling into a pit of despair and turning him to a derelict with no faith to be had on the horizon, he would not come within 50 feet of my crack attic of a dorm.

University of Cincinnati

Instagram Photo

You didn’t know you needed floor-to-ceiling windows that deter birds and can be adjusted for opaqueness until you saw Morgens Hall, which houses students in two to eight-person apartments. All units in the newly renovated dorm come with a kitchen and either one or two bathrooms, and the penthouse apartment has a private deck and skylight. Another unique housing option is the Campus Recreation Center Hall, which is exactly what it sounds like. Two hundred and thirty students get to live amongst the best facilities on campus, including a lazy river and a climbing wall. The Campus Rec Center also houses a wide variety of dining options and a large convenience store.

University of Arizona

Instagram Photo

If you hate humongous apartments with custom-designed furniture, walk-in closets, insulated walls, fitness centers, full spas, 22 foot LED TVs, sand volleyball courts, cabanas, hammocks, sundecks, rooftop game lounges and rooftop infinity edge pools with oversized hot tubs, the Hub at Tucson may not be for you. But if living like Zack and Cody on crack sounds appealing, you don’t even have to stop there. The VIP, Mansion and Spa upgraded apartments include additional amenities like top floor views, floor restricted steam rooms and outdoor patios, private terraces with hot tubs, and body spray shower systems. Just look at that sorority recruitment video of a virtual tour!

University of North Florida

The 1,000 students who live at Osprey Fountains, the newest housing complex at UNF, have an in-dorm library, but it’s hard to focus on studying when you have a lazy river right outside. Other unique perks include a ’50s themed diner, outdoor swings and a deck full of plasma televisions.

Illinois Institute of Technology

Instagram Photo

Not every dorm is conveniently located next to a stop on Chicago’s L train, and even fewer are the brainchild of bigshot architect Helmut Jahn, but State Street Village is both. Three buildings appear as one under a shared façade, each with a tricked out fifth-floor lounge and two rooftop terraces which offer enviable views of the Windy City. The 24-hour staff is always there for residents when they need them.

Boston University

Instagram Photo

The Student Village 2 (StuVi2) dorm houses more than 900 students over 26 floors. The top floor is reserved for common areas, so students lucky enough to be placed on a high floor aren’t the only ones who get to take advantage of the panoramic views of the Boston skyline. With all that collective floorspace, students are given large rooms with walk-in closets in either apartment or suite-style units. The building also pulls out all the stops when it comes to energy efficiency. Another attractive housing option at BU is the small dormitory-style residences, which are some wicked-Boston, Federal style brownstones housing between 14-65 students.

University of Chicago

Instagram Photo

Theaters, libraries and club rooms with fireplaces are just a few of the amenities offered in these stunning residence halls. Like Yale, these dorms are tight-knit, for real. Each house community even has a crest! Musicians can perfect their craft in their dorms without bothering their neighbors in music practice rooms, take moonlight strolls through indoor courtyards or lift their pinkies in the oak-paneled tea room. Unlike many of its peers, though, the University of Chicago has been focused on strengthening its Hogwarts-esque system by building completely new structures. The Campus North Residential Commons, which was designed by Studio Gang Architects and opened in 2016, has over 10,000 feet of retail space. As of 2018, the school is on its final phase of a new $450 million, 1,300-bed dorm, the Woodlawn Residential Commons, which is scheduled to be finished in 2020. UChicago students suffer through arguably the most rigorous coursework in the country, so they’ve earned a res life with a treat-yo-self attitude.

University of Virginia

Instagram Photo

If you would rather be surrounded by history than pool parties, there may be no better place to spend a semester than the Lawn at the University of Virginia, which was designed by Thomas Jefferson. Yes, you read that correctly. While these 54 rooms lack some modern amenities like air conditioning, students lucky enough to be placed here can get plenty of fresh air while contemplating the rich history of UVA and our great nation on their designated rocking chairs.

Bryn Mawr College

Instagram Photo

The Bryn Mawr dorms are credited as the first buildings EVER built in the Collegiate Gothic-style that we all know and love. Student Kara Williamson says, “First of all, all the dorms are gorgeous. Almost every dorm was built in the late 1800s/early 1900s and has beautiful gothic architecture. The rooms are very spacious and even as a freshman I had a huge room. Every floor in every dorm has a “tea pantry”, which is essentially a mini kitchen, and because of Bryn Mawr’s honor code, you don’t have to worry about your food getting stolen. And because the dorms are so old and interesting there are always little nooks and crannies to find and explore. A lot of the rooms have fireplaces which unfortunately can’t be used but are very cute and it’s fun to decorate the mantles and stuff. Overall, living at Bryn Mawr feels very homey and cozy; there’s a reason most people choose to live in the dorms all four years.”

Scripps College

Instagram Photo

Scripps College is on the US National Park Service’s National Register of Historic Places, presumably because it looks like a movie set. Seriously, these halls remind me more of Luc’s mansion in The Cheetah Girls 2 than dorms. Students who are bored with dining hall food can pick 32 varieties of fruits and other edible plants fresh off the trees found all over campus. The olive oil pressed from the school’s olive trees is literally award-winning. Are we allowed to study abroad here?

Saint Leo University

Many of the dorms at Saint Leo are top-notch, but the crown has to go to Apartment 5. This suite-style dorm comes with built-in flat screens, “nap pods” and an arcade. More importantly, though, the 2,100-gallon fish tank in the lounge area made an appearance on Animal Planet’s Tanked. I guess you can say it’s pretty famous. (By the way, no group of college students has ever been this excited about a fish tank. Aren’t there, like, infinite fish in Florida? Whatever, it’s honestly adorable.)

Savannah College of Art and Design

Instagram Photo

SCAD’s dorms appear to have been designed by one of their students. Bold patterned wallpaper, abstract lounge furniture and neon signs seem to dominate all of the common areas. The rooms themselves are equipped with private baths, televisions with free cable, and a host of other amenities. And, of course, there’s a pool.

Harvard University

Instagram Photo

While I would love to accuse them of being rat-infested holes run by crooked slumlords, Harvard dorms are as infuriatingly and unsurprisingly nice as their rival’s at Yale. Since 1636, a good chunk of noteworthy Americans have called Harvard dorms home, which is an amenity in it of itself. Hollis Hall famously housed Washington’s troops during the Revolutionary War. Now, first-year students live in shared suites in or next to the legendary Harvard Yard. After freshman year, students are placed in one of 12 Upperclassmen Houses (all, of course, with their own crest), where they remain for the next three years. These are where you can find all the beautiful libraries, art studios, etc. By “etc” I mean essentially everything the residential colleges at Yale have. Some standouts are a history-making pool turned theater and Boe’s Bees, which appears to be a rooftop beehive. Gotta love a good underdog story.

Arcadia University

Arcadia University

Grey Towers Castle was a 40-room home designed to mimic royal palaces in the French Renaissance style, with most of it’s original detailing still intact. I mean, look at those friezes! By 1898, the completed castle, ballroom and all, was one of the biggest homes in the country. Now it is a National Historic Landmark, but for a few lucky students, Grey Towers Castle is a freshman dorm.

Pace University

Instagram Photo

33 Beekman, the school’s newest residence hall, is also the world’s tallest. This superlative is doubly impressive when you consider that the 34-story dorm is located in Lower Manhattan, where finding comparable accommodations is otherwise close to impossible in 2018. Look at those views! I’m plotzing.

Deep Springs College

Instagram Photo

What better way to finish off this list than with a wildcard? Of all the outlandish things to be said about America’s smallest college, housing for the school’s 26 students may be the least interesting, but that isn’t saying much. Deep Springs College is as exclusive as it is mysterious. Just reading the Google results for this two-year school in middle-of-nowhere California is comparable to watching Holes. Deep Springs likely offers the most unique dorming experience in the country, or maybe even the world. Students essentially live like cowboys, spending their time completely isolated on a 155-acre ranch near the Nevada border. Information on the house where the all-male (soon to be coed) student body rests after long days on the alfalfa farm is difficult to uncover. There is no internet or television, but previous residents leave their clothes and supplies in a “boneyard” for current students to use.

Honorable Mentions:

  • Texas Christian University
  • Emory University
  • Liberty University
  • Sonoma State University (All living communities are named after wines. ‘Nuff said.)
  • Grand Canyon University
  • Regent University
  • University of Houston

  • Santa Clara University
  • Union University
  • University of California, Davis
  • University of Michigan

When it gets down to brass tax, what would you prefer? Wild West wasteland of a dorm where exit signs are quickly dismantled and everyone knows each other, or a swimming pool? You’ll take the swimming pool? All right then. Just remember this the next time you’re looking out that penthouse window: the quality of your dorm directly correlates to the consequences of destroying it.

The 10 Hottest Athletes In College Sports

Each and every year, there are a number of female athletes across the nation who break onto the scene and make their case for stardom in their respective sports. From softball, soccer, lacrosse, track and field and swimming and diving, there is a plethora of budding young stars who are waiting for their opportunity to become a star and national sensation.

When the new seasons roll around, it presents an opportunity for new faces to break into the spotlight as they excel in their respective sports. It’s also a great time for sponsors to look for the next faces of their brands — once they turn pro, of course.

This year, athletes like Korina Rosario of the Florida State softball team and Kassidy Cook of the Stanford women’s swimming and diving team were among the standouts to help lead their teams to national championships, while former Olympic sprinter Sydney McLaughlin also showed her continued dominance while competing for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Who are some of the other faces you should be looking out for?

Here is a look at the hottest female athletes who have recently competed in NCAA athletics.

10. Brittany Wilson

Instagram Photo
