NCAA Basketball Will Allow Players To Have Agents, Return To School If Undrafted

There is some great news for NCAA basketball players following recent changes announced by the NCAA on Wednesday, Aug. 8. The NCAA announced the new rules which will give student-athletes more freedom and flexibility with their decisions on whether to go pro. Along with elite high school and college players having the ability to sign with NCAA certified agents, any player who goes undrafted will have the ability to return to school.

“College basketball players who request an Undergraduate Advisory Committee evaluation, participate in the NBA combine and aren’t drafted can return to school as long as they notify their athletics director of their intent by 5 p.m. the Monday after the draft,” the NCAA announced. “This change is effective if/when the NBA and NBPA make an expected rule change, which would make undrafted student-athletes who return to college after the draft ineligible for the NBA until the end of the next college basketball season.”

The changes regarding agent representation can be seen below:

Student-athletes have more freedom and flexibility to decide about going pro or getting a college education, and they can receive financial assistance if they leave school early and wish to return later to finish their degree. https://t.co/Ubizwm4Bkb pic.twitter.com/UBjBMZZDlh

— NCAA (@NCAA) August 8, 2018

Agent representation for high school students

Pending a decision by the NBA and the National Basketball Players Association, high school basketball players can be represented by an agent beginning July 1 before their senior year in high school, provided they have been identified as an elite senior prospect by USA Basketball.

The effective date will be decided if/when the NBA and the NBPA permit high school students to enter the draft.

Agent representation for college students

College basketball players can be represented by an agent beginning after any basketball season if they request an evaluation from the NBA Undergraduate Advisory Committee.

This rule change is effective immediately.

If the agents provide meals or transportation for the players, it will not be a violation.

“Agents can pay for meals and transportation for players and their families if the expenses are related to the agent selection process. Also, the student cannot miss class, and the money must be spent where the student lives or attends school. Additionally, high school and college student-athletes and their families can have meals, transportation and lodging paid for by an agent if those expenses are associated with meetings with the agent or a pro team,” the NCAA clarified.

It’s a positive step forward for the student-athletes who are looking to make informed decisions about their future. Too often, players make the wrong choice to declare for the draft and then find themselves without an education and without a job.

Weed Strain of the Week: Sour Diesel

As the years go by and the youth become the adults, weed has assimilated itself more and more into everyday life, and therefore, everyday business. Medical marijuana, commercial marijuana, marijuana paraphernalia, literal marijuana commercials, edible marijuana, marijuana oil, marijuana magazines, and now, COED marijuana articles. Everybody else in the United States seems to be getting in on the reefer madness, so we’ve decided to do the same by introducing a new franchise: Weed Strain of the Week.

When I think of weed strains, the first thing that comes to mind is the 2008 stoner comedy classic Pineapple Express. In one of the earliest scenes of the movie, Saul explains to Dale how fire his newest strain of marijuana — Pineapple Express — is by only referring to previous strains that Dale had smoked.

“This is like if that Blue Oyster shit met that Afghan Kush I had – and they had a baby. And then, meanwhile, that crazy Northern Light stuff I had and the Super Red Espresso Snowflake met and had a baby. And by some miracle, those two babies met and fucked – this would the shit that they birthed.”

The strain “Super Red Espresso Snowflake” always stood out because it’s the perfect skewering of drug dealers who tried tell you what kind of strain you were buying: they were really just making shit up. However, now that legal marijuana and dispensaries exist, actual marijuana strains are more prevalent than ever, so we figured it’s time we start learning them all, one by one.

This week’s Weed Strain of the Week? Sour Diesel

Cotton Candy Kush

– Species: Sativa

– About (via Leafly):

Sour Diesel, sometimes called Sour D, is an invigorating sativa-dominant strain named after its pungent, diesel-like aroma. This fast-acting strain delivers energizing, dreamy cerebral effects that have pushed Sour Diesel to its legendary status. Stress, pain, and depression fade away in long-lasting relief that makes Sour Diesel a top choice among medical patients. This strain took root in the early 90’s, and it is believed to have descended from Chemdawg 91 and Super Skunk.

– History (via Wikileaf):

Because the underground cannabis market of the 1980s and 90s operated without any kind of lasting documentation, the exact origins of Sour Diesel are not known. Although a definitive agreement on its original genetic makeup doesn’t exist, Sour Diesel’s popularity has made it the subject of much speculation. Some believe that true Sour Diesel was derived as a distinct phenotype of an original strain simply named Diesel. Others say that it was a phenotype of Chemdawg that leaned more sativa than indica. Still others claim that it was a cross of Chemdawg and Northern Lights, or perhaps Chemdawg, Northern Lights and Skunk #1.

American journalist Jeff Hobbs credited the strain’s development to his friend Robert Peace prior to Peace’s death in 2011. An alternative version attributes it to a New York City grower known as “AJ” during the mid-1990s.

Logan Paul Calls Out Conor McGregor Because He’s Desperate For Attention

If there is one thing Logan Paul is good at, it is seeking attention. So while we fell into the trap by giving him the attention he so desperately seeks, this soundbite was just too ridiculous to ignore. The YouTube “star” who seemingly has no real talent outside of annoying the ever-living hell out of people, seems interested in expanding his career into combat sports.

Paul is set to fight British YouTuber KSI in three weeks, but he also has his eyes set on the UFC Octagon.

TMZ Sports caught up with Paul in the Los Angeles airport where he said he wants to fight in the UFC following his boxing matches against KSI. He wants you to know that he’s serious, too, bro.

“I want to fight a UFC fighter. I want to get in the octagon,” Paul said. “Yeah, bro, I wrestled my whole life. Bro, there’s no reason I can’t. I literally did athletics my whole life.

“Dana White, you watching this, bro? Pick a fighter for me, dude. Late next year.”

As for who Paul wants to face, he specifically mentioned CM Punk and Conor McGregor. Obviously a fight with McGregor would never, ever happen — we’d love to watch Paul get his ass whooped in that one though — but is it really crazy to think that he would stand a chance against CM Punk? If you’ve seen either of CM Punk’s two UFC bouts, you realize Paul may actually stand a chance. Line it up, Dana.

Iowa State University Places Delta Chi Fraternity On Interim Suspension

Iowa State University has suspended the school’s Delta Chi fraternity chapter.

The suspension, which was handed down on July 30, requires that the group temporarily not be recognized as a registered campus organization and suspends the privileges given to registered university organizations, including participating in campus activities, recruitment and accessing organization financial accounts.

Delta Chi’s interim suspension comes just months after the university overhauled their Greek life code of conduct. In March, the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement at Iowa State University updated their procedures for registration and requirements for sorority and fraternity events involving alcohol.

The new Greek life rules will apply to all sorority and fraternity events both on and off-campus and will be effective immediately.

via Imes Tribune:

Although the Office of Student Conduct is unable to disclose the report or situation that led to the fraternity’s interim suspension by university student disciplinary regulations, campus organizations can immediately be denied university privileges and be excluded from activities on campus when the organization’s “continued presence on the campus creates a continuing danger to persons or property, or constitutes an ongoing threat of disruption to the academic process.”

Assistant Dean of Students and Director of Student Conduct Sara Kellogg said Monday that while reports that can lead to disciplinary action can be initiated by students self-reporting issues, oftentimes, information comes to the Office of Student Conduct from an off-campus property manager or police reports.

She added that while the situation behind the recent interim suspension is not able to be discussed currently, nor is the timeline regarding what happened, most interim suspensions are the result of recent activity.

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority investigation, suspension or closure in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who was shut down for hazing and the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

The Arizona Cardinals 7-Pound Gridiron Burger Will Immediately Clog Your Arteries

How hungry are you right now? Multiple that by 10, and you probably still aren’t hungry enough to chow down on the Gridiron Burger that will be offered up at Arizona Cardinals games this season. The seven-pound burger will be sold at University of Phoenix Stadium for the cool price of $75.

Sure, $75 sounds like a lot for a burger, but you will quickly realize that it’s worth it because it can feed your entire section.

But if you decide to take on the task of chowing down on the oversized food, you will be rewarded for your efforts. Anyone who is able to down the entire burger in under an hour will receive a Cardinals jersey and be “honored” by having your picture put on the scoreboard. I thought fat-shaming was a bad thing, though. Poor form, Arizona.

As for what’s on the burger:

  • five 1/3 pound burger patties
  • five all beef hot dogs
  • five bratwursts
  • 20 slices of American cheese
  • eight slices of bacon
  • eight chicken tenders
  • 12 ounces of fries
  • lettuce, tomato, pickles & tanker sauce on a 10-inch bun

Feast your eyes, and fantasize.

Here’s ~dramatic~, which is fitting for a burger that they have yet to determine a calorie count for: pic.twitter.com/iDGpgXf2x0

Since that video doesn’t exactly show you just how massive the burger is, check out its size when compared to a grown human’s head.

God bless America.

The Arizona Cardinals will also be offering new items like the “taco-dilla” and churro donut Sundae. Those dishes come in significantly smaller portions and won’t leave you in a food coma for the remainder of the game.

Your first chance to try out the Gridiron Burger will be in the Cardinals’ preseason opener against the Los Angeles Chargers. If you’re going to attempt to take down the entire thing, you may want to start starving yourself now because you’re going to need plenty of room.

Forrest Gordon Clark was taken into police custody on Wednesday, Aug. 8, in connection to the 4,100-acre wildfire burning in the Cleveland National Forest in California. The 51-year-old was detained after reports from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department reported that a suspect was in their custody at the Orange County Intake Release Center. Clark is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday, according to jail records.

Clark owns a cabin in the area where the fire has been burning, according to The Orange County Register.

Clark reportedly sent an email that warned: “this place will burn.” Volunteer Fire Chief Mike Milligan says that he has received threatening emails from Clark last week. “He has issues,” Milligan said. “I hope they get him.”

#BREAKING: Officials have confirmed that 51-year-old Forrest Gordon Clark has been arrested in relation to the #HolyFire.

The Orange County Sheriff’s Department would not immediately confirm what involvement Clark had in the fire or the exact connection he has to the blaze.

The fire, which grew to more than 4,100 acres, has been less than five-percent contained as of Wednesday morning. According to NBC 4, “About 600 firefighters were called in to try to encircle the blaze, with the USFS taking the lead, aided by personnel from Cal Fire, Corona, the OCFA and other agencies.”

Former Temple Fraternity President Ari Goldstein Faces New Rape Charges

Ari Goldstein, the former president of Temple University fraternity Alpha Epsilon Pi, has been hit with new charges including rape while appearing in court for an arraignment on Wednesday. Goldstein, who was arrested on sexual assault charges back in May, has had charges of rape, sexual assault, unlawful restraint and indecent assault added on.

There were no details about the incident in question, according to ABC-6.

Goldstein’s attorney Perry de Marco Sr., however, says that the accuser is a woman that Goldstein was previously in a relationship with. Goldstein was previously accused of sexually assaulting a 19-year-old female Temple student last February. She alleges that Goldstein invited her to smoke marijuana at the Alpha Epsilon Pi house before she was assaulted. Following the incident, Temple suspended Alpha Epsilon Pi when three women alleged they were also sexually assaulted at the frat house.

Jonathan Pierce, a spokesperson for Alpha Epsilon Pi, immediately removed Goldstein as the chapter president following the allegations.

His statement read:

“Alpha Epsilon Pi International has no additional information about the charges being brought. We have not been informed — nor would we expect to be — of any of the allegations made or the evidence found. We will continue, though, to cooperate with Temple University and all local authorities. The young man charged was not the chapter president at the time of his arrest. He had been removed as president several weeks ago and the chapter has been suspended by the International Fraternity for nearly a month. We are, obviously, deeply troubled by the charges leveled at this young man. We believe in due process but there is clearly no place for this behavior in our organization and, if proven true, I would expect the individual to be permanently expelled from our fraternity.”

Beer Of The Week: Revolution Brewing’s Anti-Hero IPA

Tired of drinking lukewarm Keystone Light out of a 6-month-old keg? Trying to move past Bud Light Limes and Coronas? Crushed enough 30-racks to last a lifetime? The point is, you’re likely at that stage in your life (or close to it) where you want to drink better beer.

Don’t feel bad, as it happens to all of us at one point or another. While shitty beer never really goes away — trust me, stale kegs and 30’s are still very much a thing in post-grad life — decent beer becomes further appreciated and desired the older you get. While I get f*cked up way less than I did in college, I actually kind of drink more now because I have a delicious new beer with my dinner every night. And buddy, let me let you in on a little secret … Shock Top doesn’t count.

So, with all that in mind, we decided to set the very obtainable (and enjoyable) goal of trying, and hopefully enjoying, a new beer every week.

Me in the meeting finding out COED is going to allocate budget to buy me beer.

From popular IPA’s to obscure chocolate stouts, this is COED’s Beer of the Week.

About Anti-Hero IPA

via Revolution Brewing:

“Our flagship IPA is supremely aromatic, crisp, and drinkable. This iconic ale features a blend of Citra, Crystal, Centennial, and Chinook to create a crisp clean bitterness and imparts massive floral and citrus aromas.

An American hop assault for all the ambivalent warriors who get the girl in the end. “Look, I ain’t in this for your revolution, and I’m not in it for you, Princess.”

Beer Facts

Type: India Pale Ale
ABV: 6.7%
IBU: 65
Calories: 200
Hops: Warrior, Chinook, Centennial, and Amarillo

COED’s Review

While some newer beer drinkers may find Anti-Hero a little too bitter and hoppy, I personally find it to be as close to a perfect IPA as it gets. Full of flavor but not too heavy, Anti-Hero IPA is drinkable in all situations. Whether it be at dinner, at a pre-game, or out at the bar, Anti-Hero is a solid option across the board.

The Netflix hit series “Last Chance U” is returning for a fourth season. On Wednesday, it was announced that the docuseries will return to Netflix in Summer 2019 for a second straight year at Independence Community College in Kansas. “As such, we feel that a return trip to Kansas is warranted. After visiting the ICC campus last week and meeting the new players, I think Season 4 could be our best season yet.”

The Pirates won the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference championship and scored a win over Northeastern Oklahoma A&M in the Midwest Bowl, finishing with a 9-2 record. This year, they will look to replicate their success in the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference while hoping to compete for a national championship.

Independence Community College plays its home games at Emmot Field. The Pirates officially kickoff their 2018 campaign on Thursday, Aug. 23 against Dodge City Community College at Memorial Stadium. Last season, Independence scored a 32-38 victory over Dodge City in the fifth game of the season.

Comedian Kevin Hart is showing off his generosity. Hart announced that his charity “Help From the Hart Charity” has partnered with the Knowledge is Power Program and the United Negro College Fund to launch a $600,000 scholarship fund to help prospective college students pursue their degree. The Hart scholarship is awarded “based on students’ academic and personal achievements and may be renewed.”

18 students of KIPP charter schools received scholarships from the fund, with the students being spread out over eight different cities.

The students are going on to pursue their degrees at historically black colleges.

Among the colleges the scholarship recipients will be attending are Clark Atlanta University, Lincoln University, Morehouse College, Xavier University of Louisiana, Dillard University, and Spelman College.

“Thank you Kevin for your generosity. We love partnering with you to create better futures for our students,” a Facebook post from Xavier University of Louisiana read.

“Education and knowledge are powerful,” Hart said in a statement. “I just wanted to do my part in providing opportunities for our future leaders, especially from my Philly hometown, and show support for HBCUs. This is just the beginning; trust me when I tell you there are a lot more kids who want to go to college who don’t have the money to make it happen.”

Hart previously donated $100,000 to the UNCF in 2015 to help fund four students’ educations.

“Research shows that HBCUs matter, and that HBCU students are having a positive college experience, but they also have an unmet financial need,” UNCF president Michael L. Lomax said in a statement. “Together, Kevin and KIPP have made an investment that will have a significant impact.”

The 38-year-old comedian says “this is just the beginning.” Kudos to Hart for helping students realize their dream.

Lyle died on Wednesday night at his home surrounded by family, his wife Briony announced. Lyle was just 36 years old. Lyle was first diagnosed with leukemia when he was 17, and the cancer resurfaced in 2012 and 2017.

“It is with a heavy heart and a mountain of tears that I say a final goodbye to my friend Jarrod Lyle,” Golf Channel commentator Tripp Isenhour wrote. “For 20 years he fought this disease like no one could. Thank you for touching us all in so many wonderful ways! RIP to a champion of a human.”

Monroe Alvarez/Chivas

English Premier League club Manchester United and Scotch whiskey brand Chivas have announced a partnership. Chivas becomes the official spirits partner of Manchester United in a three-year global partnership that will  “celebrate their collective belief that blended is better – in life, football and Scotch.”

The official announcement was made ahead of the club’s first Premier League home game of the season on Friday, Aug. 10.

To announce the partnership, Man U shot a video in Los Angeles during their pre-season tour that shows stars from the team discussing what defines them on and off the pitch. This is expected to be just one of many videos that the two brands will unveil throughout the 2018-19 campaign.

“Manchester United’s history is built on teamwork and we embrace Chivas’ belief that ‘blended is better.’ Our success both on and off the pitch allows us to bring together the best mix of people who help to make our Club the global name it is today. Each individual has their own skills but the way in which they blend together is what makes us a united team. It is a pleasure to welcome Chivas as Manchester United’s Global Spirits Partner and we look forward to working together to share this belief with our fans,” said Group Managing Director at Manchester United Richard Arnold.

“Blending has been in our DNA ever since James and John Chivas pioneered the art in 19th century Scotland. Partnering with Manchester United was therefore a natural fit; we both firmly believe that great things can be achieved when we come together – from balancing the perfect blend of malt and grain whiskies that go into our Scotch, to using the perfect combination of players’ skills on the pitch to create a winning team. We look forward to using our spirit to help showcase the spirit of the Club and its fans all around the world,” added Chivas Brothers chairman and CEO Jean-Christophe Coutures.

Manchester United kicks off its home schedule on Friday, Aug. 10 against Leicester City. Kickoff is set for 3:00 p.m. ET at Old Trafford.

University Of Miami Athletes Help Feed The Homeless Through Food Truck

University of Miami student-athletes are making a positive impact in their community. Hurricanes football player Robert Burns is one of the student-athletes who helps in the efforts, spending his weekends helping to deliver free meals to the homeless with his longtime friend and former teammate Anthony Hasan. Hasan, who plays quarterback at Vanderbilt, started the Second Spoon food truck and delivers food that would otherwise go to waste, according to the Miami Herald.

The report outlines how the food truck came to be and provides some insight on just how serious food waste can be.

In Miami-Dade County, nearly 10 percent of people are food insecure, according to Feeding America, a non-profit hunger relief organization. Food insecurity is defined by limited availability of nutritionally adequate foods or uncertain ability to get them. Yet, according to the USDA, between 30 and 40 percent of the U.S. food supply is wasted every year.

A year after speaking with the team chef, Hasan registered Second Spoon with the IRS, created pages on social media and began reaching out to restaurants. After realizing that a new food truck can cost six-figures, Hasan decided on a more modest, converted truck. He held a gala in his parents’ backyard in Miami to fund the truck, raising about $15,000.

The food truck delivers food to homeless people around Miami along with water.

Other players who help in the efforts are Miami soccer player Hannah Marwede, Hurricanes fullback Michael Parrott, and Christian Delgado, a friend of Burns.

Second Spoon is also hoping to operate a new food truck in Nashville while Hasan is at Vanderbilt, with the goal to partner with more churches and business to continue making a bigger difference in their communities.

It is safe to say Urban Meyer has mastered all of the formulas for winning football games. Whether it be an offensive explosion, a grind it out defensive showdown, or even as simple as winning the turnover battle, Urban Meyer coached teams have shown they can do it any way necessary. With the 2018 roster looking as loaded as its been since he made a move to Columbus; if the quarterback play is sound, the road to a 12-0 season seems likelier than ever.

However, with the recent scandal besetting Ohio State and more specifically Urban Meyer, it remains to be seen how this may affect the team’s performance on the field. Offensive coordinator Ryan Day has stepped up to fill the shoes of Meyer for the time being.

2018-2019 Summary

Instagram Photo

Replace and reload has been the Urban Meyer model everywhere he coaches, and that does not change with the 2018 Buckeyes. No matter who’s at quarterback it shouldn’t matter as the Buckeyes will boast one of the strongest rosters in the nation, including star power at both running back and wide receiver positions. Assuming Dwayne Haskins gets the nod at QB, the offense should not miss a beat and has the potential to be even better than the JT Barrett show. J.K Dobbins and Mike Weber will create one of the deadliest one-two punches at running back in all of college football, while receivers Binjimen Victor, Terry McLaurin, Austin Mack, and Johnnie Dixon all have NFL futures. Haskins will just need to be average to produce wins, and if he’s above average as expected, skies the limit in Columbus. As far as the schedule goes, matchups against TCU in Texas, Penn State in State College, and of course the season finale against their biggest rival in Michigan will be the most stringent tests, but Ohio State seems to poised for a perfect season, a Big Ten title, and a strong chance at a national title.

Record: Wins 12, Losses 0

Week 2: Ohio State 45, Rutgers 20 (W)

Last Chance U Star Isaiah Wright Has Murder Charge Dropped, Released From Jail

Netflix

Last Chance U star Isaiah Wright has been behind bars since an arrest last year. However, this week, Wright was finally released from jail after his murder charge was dropped thanks to a plea deal. Wright pleaded guilty to one count of facilitation of aggravated robbery while in court Wednesday, according to TMZ Sports. As a result, Wright was sentenced to time served and five years of probation.

Wright’s plea deal means Wright “furnished assistance without the intent to commit robbery,” according to his attorney Kevin Angel.

Wright was initially arrested and charged in connection with the stabbing death of 18-year-old Caleb Radford, who was stabbed multiple times. Wright’s brother, former Indiana wide receiver Camion Patrick, Keshawn Lonnell Hopewell, and Itiq Green were also charged in the case.

There is no word on what is next for Wright or whether he will attempt to revive his football career.

Wright was a featured character on the first two seasons of the Netflix series which focused on East MIssissippi Community College, where Patrick also played before the show began filming.

Patrick eventually went on to play at Indiana, where he was on scholarship finishing out his final year. Wright, meanwhile, had committed to play for West Georgia before leaving the team prior to the season.

The series has since moved on to Kansas to follow the Independence Community College Pirates. On season 3 of the series, coaches from Independence referenced Wright’s legal issues when discussing attitude issues for one of their current players and the struggles he has to stay clean off the field.

The long awaited follow up the 2010 video game classic, Red Dead Redemption, has been teased for a few years now as it has been in development by Rockstar Games. We’ve seen images and a trailer so far, but today we got a first look at the gameplay that awaits us in Red Dead Redemption II.

In the trailer, we see our protagonist, Arthur Morgan, fighting outlaws in shootouts, hand to hand combat, riding his horse, and so much more. Rockstar Games is the creator of numerous video game classics, including the Grand Theft Auto Franchise, so it is no surprise that this game looks absolutely incredible.

The story will follow the aforementioned Arthur Morgan, as he robs, fights, and kills his way across the Old West as a member of a gang. This game serves as a prequel to the first Red Dead Redemption so you will be seeing numerous returning characters, including the protagonist of the first game, John Marston. Other notable returns include Dutch Van Der Linde, the leader of the gang and one of the primary villains of Red Dead Redemption.

From what the trailer shows, the gameplay and graphics look, well to put it bluntly, amazing. Every detail is immaculate and the fighting looks fluid and very responsive. Of course, trailers have been known to deceive in the past, so don’t be surprised if the game you end up playing looks a little different than the one shown here.

Rockstar is promising a “deep, open world” that is ripe for exploration and will include mountains, deserts, swamps, small towns, and cities.

Red Dead Redemption II is currently scheduled for release on October 26th, 2018 and will be available on Playstation 4 and Xbox One.

If you are a fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide or college football in general, ESPN has a treat for you leading up to the start of the 2018 season. With just over two weeks until football is officially back in our lives, the Worldwide Leader in Sports is set to premiere a brand new, all-access show that gives a behind-the-scenes look at the defending College Football Playoff National Champions as they prepare for their title defense during the upcoming year.

The show has a feel similar to the HBO hit show “Hard Knocks” which returned earlier this week featuring the Cleveland Browns.

The series will give a look inside team and coaches meetings, positional battles on the field during training camp, and mic’d up players during practice throughout the month. “Training Days: Rolling with the Tide” will also give a look at the way fans and the local media respond to the program, an up-close look at the incredible Crimson Tide facilities, and some insight on what Alabama football players are like off of the field.

“Alabama football is one of the premier programs in all of sports,” said ESPN vice president of production Lee Fitting in a statement. “The intrigue behind their championship-filled decade and the fans’ appetite for unique access continues to escalate. This series will provide a unique perspective of the Crimson Tide as they build upon a foundation for what they hope is another championship campaign.  We appreciate Coach Nick Saban and the entire Alabama operation for allowing us inside their walls over the next month.”

Purdue Boilermakers 2018-19: Predictions & Preview

First-year coach Jeff Brohm and his Purdue Boilermakers were one of the feel-good stories of the 2017 season. He took a 3-9 team that permanently returned the same talent and turned them into a 7-6 team that went bowling. With such a drastic change, expectations are soaring for Brohm, but with the departure of his most crucial defensive talent, and an unfavorable schedule, it would be shocking if Purdue is still playing in late December.

2018-19 Summary

Instagram Photo

After leading the Boilermakers to a 7-6 season in just his first season, coming off of a 3-9 record the previous year, head coach Jeff Brohm proved his worth. A defensive minded coach was the key for the Boilermakers last year, with one of the most robust units in the stacked Big 10. If they had gotten a little more consistency on the offensive side, nine-wins were foreseeable. This year it’s back to the drawing board for Brohm, who lost the majority of his defensive talent to graduation.

The schedule will not be doing Brohm any justice either, with a three-week run against Ohio State, Michigan State, and sneaky Iowa. Out-of-conference, both matchups against Missouri and Boston College are essentially a coin toss, but for the Boilermakers to go bowling again, they will need to take both of those game. Being at home for those matchups helps, but the defense is going to look astray at the beginning of the year. If Elijah Sindelar can improve, and it would be wise to expect he does consider he played multiple games in 2017 with a torn ACL, a six-win season is possible, but he’s going to have to be spectacular for that to happen.

Record: Wins 4, Losses 8

Week 1: Purdue 20, Northwestern 23 (L)
Week 2: Purdue 35, Eastern Michigan 17 (W)
Week 3: Purdue 21, Missouri 23 (L)
Week 4: Purdue 28, Boston College 31 (L)
Week 5: Purdue 30, Nebraska 35 (L)
Week 6: Bye
Week 7: Purdue 28, Illinois 21 (W)
Week 8: Purdue 14, Ohio State 30 (L)
