WATCH: Michelle Beadle Goes Off On ‘Obnoxious Diva’ Kawhi Leonard

YouTube/ESPN

Michelle Beadle has had enough of the Kawhi Leonard drama. During a segment on ESPN’s “Get Up” Friday morning, Beadle unleashed a passionate rant about the San Antonio Spurs star going as far as to call him an “obnoxious diva.” Beadle, who is an avid Spurs fan, is tired of the nonstop speculation regarding Leonard’s future in San Antonio and the swirling trade rumors.

“What part of Kawhi Leonard’s behavior in the last year, and every story that’s come out in the last few weeks, says anything about this dude having any of the qualities that a leader is supposed to have?” Beadle said.

“You don’t talk, you don’t defend yourself. You’re coming off as an obnoxious diva. You don’t want to go play with LeBron because you want to be the top dog. You are the top dog for a team and an organization that’s done really well for many, many years.”

Geez, Michelle, tell us how you really feel.

The rant comes after the latest Kawhi Leonard report that claims people from Leonard’s camp attempted to hide him from San Antonio Spurs brass during a recent appearance in New York City.

ESPN Spurs reporter @mikecwright bottled up a lot of wild Kawhi/Spurs stories. But he did share this one anecdote on @back2backpod:

The time Kawhi’s people tried to hide Kawhi from Spurs staffers in NYC

What a world.

You can check out the full rant from Beadle below.

Whether Leonard suits up for the Spurs in 2018 remains to be seen, but it’s clear that his antics are turning off fans and they are ready for it all to be over even if it means losing your star player to a conference rival. For the sake of Spurs fans everywhere — and Beadle’s sanity — we hope that the drama ends soon.

Rashida Jones, born February 25, 1976, is an American actress who is perhaps best known for starring as Ann Perkins on the NBC comedy series Parks and Recreation.

In addition to her role on Parks and Rec, Jones has also appeared on the NBC series The Office as Karen Filippelli and as Louisa Fenn on the Fox television series Boston Public.

Jones also has a successful film career, appearing in films such as I Love You, Man (2009), The Social Network (2010), Our Idiot Brother (2011), The Muppets (2011), and Celeste and Jesse Forever (2012).

Since 2016, Jones has starred as the lead title role in the TBS comedy series Angie Tribeca.

Jones is the daughter of legendary record producer Quincy Jones. Jones was the producer of many of Michael Jackson’s albums, including Off the Wall in 1979), Thriller (1982), and Bad (1987). Her mother is Peggy Lipton, a former actress and model.

via Page Six:

“I am pretty fierce about my privacy,” Jones, 42, says in the new issue of PorterEdit. “I have made career choices to protect it. I stopped going after big movies because what comes with it is they want you to be as famous as possible.” She added, “I don’t have the constitution to battle that.” Jones has starred in hit shows like “The Office,” “Parks and Recreation” and “Angie Tribeca.” Her movies include “I Love You, Man,” “The Social Network” and “Celeste & Jesse Forever.” In recent years, she’s been working behind the camera as a producer and writer.

“The reason I got behind the camera was because I felt replaceable as an actress,” she said. “You walk into a room, and they’ve already decided whether you’ve got the part based on your hair. There are people born to act, but I play parts which are just versions of me. Writing is more of a back and forth conversation. That, for me, feels better.”

She has brains to match her beauty, too, as she attended Harvard University.

Sophie Turner Talks ‘Game Of Thrones’“Unpredictable” Series Finale

Game Of Thrones may still be a year away, but that doesn’t mean we’re not going to talk about it. Apparently, Sophie Turner agrees, as everywhere she goes she’s answering questions about the hit show’s final season.

This time, speaking to Digital Spy, Turner discussed what she promises to be an “unpredictable” ending.

via Digital Spy:

Turner promised that “it really is so unpredictable the way that [the series] ends up”.

“For me – without giving anything away, I guess – I was satisfied with how unpredictable the show’s ending really is,” said the Sansa Stark actress.

“People have come up with so many fan theories about how it’s going to end, and who will end up where, and who will end up with who. It really is so unpredictable the way that it ends up. I’m very satisfied with that, and I think that the fans will be satisfied with that, too.

Now, while ‘unpredictable’ doesn’t exactly give any insight into what it is, it does shed some light on what it isn’t.

Since the ending is going to be ‘unpredictable’, I think we can rule out Jon & Dany defeating the White Walkers and living happily ever after. We can also rule out all of the Starks surviving, because, well, nothing good ever happens to the Starks.

Are Tiger Woods & Phil Mickelson About To Square Off For $10 Million?

The two best-golfing legends of our generation could hit the course to play a mano a mano winner-take-all match. Tiger Woods vs. Phil Mickelson is reportedly in the works and has the golfing world buzzing. The two would play a one-on-one, 18-hole match that nets the winner $10 million. Talk about a dream come true for many golfing fans who have watched this rivalry for two decades.

Lefty and Tiger have been each other’s chief rival during their respective careers. It’s no secret Woods has gotten the best of Mickelson over the years, but Lefty is not too far behind. Overall the two combine for 19 Major victories, 14 of those by Woods and five coming from Mickelson. For their careers, Woods has a record 79 PGA Tour titles, and Mickelson has a not too shabby 43 PGA Tour wins. Tiger even took a little shot at those figures when discussing the matchup.

Via Sports Illustrated

Back at the Players, after he proposed the match, Mickelson wondered whether Woods “wants a piece of me.” To that, Tiger repsonded, “First of all…big picture. How many times have we both won on Tour?”

The rivalry between the two has softened as they enter the twilight of their respective careers. But, as you can see, there are still some competitive juices running through them. Woods also apparently threw a jab Mickelson’s way regarding their bank accounts.

Via Sports Illustrated

“We’ll play for whatever makes him comfortable,” Woods, whose net worth is estimated to be in excess $740 million, also said.

This all started back at the Players Championship when Mickelson proposed the “high-stakes, winner-take-all” match up and it has since turned from a joke to very much becoming a reality. In fact, it almost happened this week as the two were set to take the course on July 3rd, per Golf.com’s Alan Shipnuck, but those plans fell through.

It seems as though, the two camps are still finetuning the TV and sponsorship deals before receiving the go-ahead for the matchup. One thing is for sure though, once this marquee match between two long-time heated rivals is set, it will be must-watch entertainment.

Top 10 Hardest College Basketball Arena’s To Play In

Home-court advantage is a very real thing. There are not really any stats behind why teams traditionally play better at home but there are definitely a few factors as to why they do. First off, they feel more comfortable at home without having to travel anywhere and going through their regular routine at home. Second, they love the support their fans give them and want to play well in front of them. Finally, when the crowd is engaged in the game they can make life difficult for the opposing team by turning the noise level up. Let’s take a look at the top 10 college basketball arena’s where it is the toughest to play.

10. The Pavillion-Villanova Wildcats

Instagram Photo

The Pavillion is a small venue that only seats 6,500 people for basketball games but can it ever get loud in here. One of Villanova’s great attraction besides its academics is its basketball team and have they ever lived up to the hype. They are the reigning National Champions two of the past three seasons and their fans love them. They are 26-2 in the past two seasons at the Pavillion and their fans have played a big role in that. Since the arena is a smaller one fans are desperate to get a seat and they go nuts once they are able to get a seat to a game. When opposing teams come to the Pavillion the fans of the Wildcats have made it a very difficult time to come away with a victory.

9. Dean E. Smith Center-North Carolina Tar Heels

Instagram Photo

The Dean Dome has seen many legends play in it like Michael Jordan, James Worthy, and Vince Carter to name a few. Seeing those jerseys hanging in the rafters can give any opposing teams players goosebumps. This arena has a seating capacity of 21,750 people. Each and every one of those fans make a huge impact as they are loud and rowdy from the tip. The Tar Heels are 30-3 in the past two seasons and two seasons ago were undefeated at home. The Dean Dome has the history and traditions of being a tough place to play but the fans getting as rowdy as they do is the icing on the cake.

8. The Pit-New Mexico Lobos

Instagram Photo

Even though they are not a power 5 conference team, the New Mexico Lobos arena, The Pit, is one of the most raucous arenas in all of college basketball. The arena is built by digging a bowl and is built underground which gives it a much different feel in altitude level unlike many other arenas. The Pit seats 15,411 people and they have one of the highest attendance rates in all of college basketball. Since 1966, The Pit has averaged 15,400 fans showing that they have some very loyal fans. The Lobos are 25-8 in the past two seasons at The Pit and they have their fans to thank for always showing up and making it one of the most electrifying arenas in all of college basketball.

7. Kohl Center-Wisconsin Badgers

Instagram Photo

The Kohl Center is able to seat 17,230 people and their student section is one of the best in the nation. Known as the “Grateful Red” Wisconsin’s student section loves its basketball team and gets rowdy for all of the home games. In the past two seasons, the Badgers are 25-9 at home with 7 of those 9 losses coming in the most recent season after having a very down year as a program. During the Bo Ryan era, the Badgers held a 210-22 record at home showing that they have one of the toughest arenas to play in.

6. Rupp Arena- Kentucky Wildcats

Instagram Photo

Since John Calipari has taken over the Wildcats, Kentucky has been one of the premier basketball programs in college basketball. They bring in top talent every year that leads to them always being a contender for a National Championship. Their fans also make it difficult for opposing teams to come into the arena and win a game. Rupp Arena seats 23,500 people and you are sure to hear every single one of those fans. In the past two seasons, the Wildcats are 32-4 at home and throughout the history of their program, they have notoriously been known to be dominant at home making it a very hard place to play.

5. Carrier Dome- Syracuse Orange

The Carrier Dome is the largest college basketball arena with a seating capacity of 35,446 people and the Dome often fills to capacity even exceeding it on many occasions. For a team that has only won one National Championship in its program’s history, are their fans ever loyal and rowdy. The Dome has held the record for attendance by fans on many different occasions with the most recent being against Duke in 2014. Over the past two seasons, the Orange are 34-8 at home with many of those wins coming against top-ranked teams in the ACC. The combination of a huge arena and many loyal Orange fans makes it a difficult trip to Upstate New York for opposing teams.

4. Breslin Center- Michigan State Spartans

Instagram Photo

The Breslin Center is a daunting arena to play in thanks to the names that hang in the rafters and the fans that come to the games. The fans of Michigan State basketball are very loyal to their program and always show out even for games against weaker opponents. The Breslin Center has a seating capacity of 14,759 people. In the past two seasons, Michigan State is 31-3 in front of their home crowd. With such a raucous crowd, especially the student section taunting opponents, it is a difficult task for any team to come away with a victory in the energy-filled Breslin Center.

3. Assembly Hall- Indiana Hoosiers

Given the name by Gus Johnson as the “Carnegie Hall of College Basketball” should scream to you that this place is legendary. Assembly Hall is one of the most difficult places to play in all of the college basketball thanks to the crazy fans, the history of the arena, and the architecture design that helps make the arena even louder than it actually should be. Assembly Hall has a seating capacity of 17,222 people and they fill out every single seat often for games. Over the two most recent season the Hoosier have had down seasons so their home record has been skewed from the past success they have had in their history like having winning streaks of 50 and 35 games in past years. The atmosphere at Assembly Hall is electric making it an extremely difficult place to play.

2. Allen Fieldhouse- Kansas Jayhawks

Instagram Photo

National Championship banners and legends jerseys hang up in the rafters of Allen Fieldhouse making it a very intimidating place to play. You then have to listen to their loyal fans do their “Rock Chalk Jayhawk” chant and that’s when you realize you are in for a long day. Allen Fieldhouse has a seating capacity of 16,300 people and each one of those fans makes their presence felt. The Jayhawks own a 30-4 record on their home court proving that they do have an advantage on their court. With the fans getting rowdy and embracing the environment they make it an excruciatingly tough place to play for any opposing team.

1. Cameron Indoor Stadium- Duke Blue Devils

Cameron Indoor comes in at our rankings as the toughest place to play in all of college basketball. Combined with its history, the fans, and the success of Duke basketball on their home court it makes for a daunting task for any road team to go in their and come away with a victory. Cameron Indoor seats only 9,314 people, making it a smaller and noiser environment for the road team. The students, known as the “Cameron Crazies” truly make it a home-court advantage. With their creativity and energy it feels as if they are almost on top of you on the court thanks to the arena being smaller than most. When they reach out their hands towards a player inbounding the ball you have to think that the player is feeling the nerves and pressure of that. In the past two seasons, the Blue Devils are 29-2 in front of the home crowd proving that they have the best home-court advantage in all of college basketball.

Florida Friday: All Of This Week’s Headlines From America’s Most Interesting State-7/6

Oh, Florida — like our wives and girlfriends, we can’t live with you, but we certainly couldn’t live without you. You are like the Drunk Uncle in the family that is the United States of America: you mean well & have a good heart, but show up to the party already hammered and then tell Cousin Derek to go f*ck himself before you fall face first through the all-glass living room coffee table. You’re a wildcard, but you’re our wildcard, and we love ya for it.

For some reason, though, more than any other state in the union, Florida has an uncanny knack of churning out the most preposterous headlines you’ve ever heard of.

“Homeless Man Engages in Sword Fight with Alligator”

“Pink-Haired Couple Rob Bank Armed Only with String Cheese”

“Party Clown Arrested for Smoking Crack in Front of Children”

Are these real stories? Did I just make these headlines up? Who knows. I guess you’ll have to Google it. Either way, the point is they sound real and that’s because in Florida, literally, anything is possible, even the most bizarre.

Okay, I’ll admit, the headlines above you are fake, but the ones below are entirely real, and that’s what makes Florida so Florida: you cannot tell the difference between what’s real and what’s not because it all sounds so wildly ridiculous.

“Teen Bites the Head Off Live Chicken”

“Elementary School Teacher Arrested For Selling Marijuana”

“Police Searching For Cross-Dresser Who Keeps Leaving Underwear On Random Cars”

“Man Causes $100K in Damage at Local Walmart, Blames ‘Hookah Smoking Caterpillar'”

“Teacher Placed on Leave For Drowning Racoons in Class”

“Woman Poses as Federal Agent to Score Free Chick-Fil-A”

“This Chainsaw Wielding Nun is the Hero Florida Deserves Right Now”

“Man Whips Out Samurai Sword During Road Rage Incident”

“Teacher Suspended For Allowing Students to Hook Up in Class”

Needless to say, you get our point: Florida is a mad, mad place.

So with that in mind, we’ve decided to do a weekly round-up of all the headlines from America’s Bastard Son of a State … the only and only Florida.

University Of Maryland Confirms Receiving Multiple Subpoenas Over College Basketball Investigation

This past Friday, officials from the University of Maryland have released documents confirming that it received multiple subpoenas in connection to allegations of corruption in college basketball.

What do we know about the subpoenas?

The first subpoena is looking into Maryland assistant coach Orlando Ranson and an unidentified player, both of whom reportedly made contact with agent runner Christian Dawkins. The second subpoena calls for Maryland officials to appear before a federal grand jury in New York on July 3.

According to InsideMDSports, the subpoenas asked for the following in relation to the unidentified student, whose name was redacted:

“Any documents, including communications, regarding or relating to former Maryland student-athlete [redcated] including but not limited to documents reflecting or regarding any improper payments or benefits provided to [redacted]’s family, or a representative of [redacted]’s family.”

A June subpoena into Maryland requested any records tied to the recruitment of Silvio De Sousa.

The school released the following statement over the case

According to Yahoo Sports, the University of Maryland issued the following statement in response to the subpoenas:

“On March 15, 2018, and June 29, 2018, the University received grand jury subpoenas for documents related to the ongoing federal investigation of college basketball. The University complied with the subpoenas by providing responsive records. None of the responsive records shows evidence of any violations of applicable laws or NCAA bylaws by University coaches, staff or players. The University has cooperated and will continue to cooperate fully with the ongoing federal investigation.”

Yahoo Sports originally filed a Freedom of Information request with the school for documents relating to federal subpoenas in April; the publication claimed that the delivery was delayed on at least three times, twice in May and once in June, but the request was eventually met three days after the requested grand jury appearance was made earlier this month. At this time, Ranson has also denied making a comment with the publication.

How Will 2017’s Injuries Impact 2018’s Fantasy NFL Season?

$

The 2017 NFL season was one of the craziest, most injury-riddled seasons in NFL history, specifically because of the toll it took on some of the league’s biggest stars. That had an impact on their teams, obviously, but also in the world of fantasy football. Let’s take a look at some of the big names who are eyeing a 2018 comeback, and what that could mean for your fantasy team.

David Johnson

Instagram Photo

The number one overall pick in most fantasy leagues, Johnson hurt his wrist in the third quarter of the Cardinals’ Week One matchup against the Detroit Lions. He is expected to carry a full workload this season, even though he’s currently holding out for a new contract. Johnson has set lofty goals for himself once again this year, as he wants to go for 1,000 yards on the ground and receiving this season. Don’t be afraid to pick him early once again in your fantasy league.

Deshaun Watson

Instagram Photo

Watson lit the league on fire in 2017, throwing for 1700 yards and 19 touchdowns in just seven games before tearing his ACL in practice. The whole league felt the repercussions of the injury, as did fantasy owners. Just a week before the injury, Watson roasted the Legion of Boom for 402 yards, in a game Houston ultimately lost but put the league on notice. He showed his franchise quarterback potential, as well as his fantasy potential. He is on track to practice during training camp and should be the Week One starter for the Texans.

Odell Beckham Jr.

Instagram Photo

We all remember Odell Beckham Jr. getting carted off the field, crying in immense pain as his season ended on a fractured ankle. He seems to be fully healthy, as he shows off his dance moves, baseball swing and fast feet on Instagram every chance he gets. (See video above.) He showed up to voluntary OTA’s to show off the fact that he’s healthy. He didn’t have to show up, as he has repeatedly stated he wants a new contract, but he did. That should be a good sign for his Giants teammates, fans, and fantasy owners. Now with a real running game in the picture, led by Saquon Barkley, some pressure should be taken off Eli Manning and Beckham. Don’t hesitate to use a first-round pick on Beckham.

Carson Wentz

Instagram Photo

Arguably the league’s MVP before tearing his ACL against the Los Angeles Rams, the Eagles might be cautious with Wentz as he returns from injury. The Super Bowl champs don’t need Wentz right away, but he still insists that he’ll be ready for Week One, and he very well could be. If you need a quarterback for your fantasy team, don’t be afraid to go in on Wentz. When on the field, we should see him pick up right where he left off last season, with ultimately the same supporting cast that would’ve helped propel him to the MVP award if he would’ve stayed healthy.

NFL Supplemental Draft 2018: Breakdown Of All Eligible College Players

While the focus of the football world might be on training camps, there is one more offseason event that will take place before we can get started with the preseason. On July 11th, 2018, the NFL Supplemental Draft will occur. A supplemental draft is a special event in which a small selection of players are available and teams have the chance to draft them over seven rounds, with each round only taking 10 minutes. If a team drafts a player in the supplemental draft they then forfeit their pick in the corresponding round of next year’s draft. Due to the small selection of players and risk of losing picks in next year’s draft, the draft mainly consists of teams passing on picks until a team feels the talent outweighs the risk. The last player drafted in a supplemental draft was Isiah Battle, who was drafted by the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round of the 2015 draft.

The NFL Supplemental Draft was created in 1977 to give college players who were unable to enter the main NFL Draft due to eligibility or other circumstances a way into the league. In the 40 years since the inception of the supplemental draft, 43 players have been drafted; eight of those 43 players have made the Pro Bowl and one has made the NFL Hall of Fame, wide receiver Cris Carter who had been suspended and declared ineligible prior to his senior season after signing with an agent. Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon, who currently plays for the Cleveland Browns, was drafted in the 2012 supplemental draft after being suspended in college due to a failed drug test.

In the 2018 NFL Supplemental Draft, five players are eligible to be drafted. Here is the breakdown of those players.

Adonis Alexander – CB, Virginia Tech

Instagram Photo
Adonis Alexander appears to be a lock to be drafted in the supplemental draft this year, as he is likely the most talented prospect to enter the supplemental draft since Josh Gordon in 2012. Alexander played 32 games over the course of three seasons with Virginia Tech, recording 125 tackles and seven interceptions in those games.

Despite Alexander reportedly received positive reactions from many NFL teams during the 2018 draft process, he decided to return for his senior season anyway. However, Alexander was suspended from the team due to his academic standing with the university at the beginning of June. Rather than wait a season to enter the NFL Draft, he chose to apply for the supplemental draft and was accepted.

Alexander is a hybrid defensive back, having the speed and ball skills of an elite cornerback with the size and physicality of a safety. It is unknown how high a team will be willing to take him, as there are concerns regarding his motivation on the field as well as the fact that he was suspended multiple times in college for drug use and the violation of team rules. Still, if Alexander is able to avoid off-field problems in the NFL there is a chance he could be an instant difference maker during his rookie season on the right team.

Sam Beal – CB, Western Michigan

Instagram Photo
Sam Beal is another player who is definitely expected to be drafted during the supplemental draft this year. Beal was projected as a first-round pick for the 2019 NFL Draft but decided to enter the supplemental draft and forego his senior season at Western Michigan.

Beal certainly has all the potential in the world but lacks experience. Beal played wide receiver in high school and during his freshman season at Western Michigan but switched to cornerback prior to his sophomore year. During his two seasons at the corner position, Beal played 24 games and recorded 77 tackles, 18 defended passes and two interceptions. There is risk involved in this pick for sure, but there is also potential that Beal could be a talented starter in this league with some more experience under his belt.

Brandon Bryant – CB, Mississippi State

Instagram Photo
Brandon Bryant has two concerns for being drafted in the supplemental draft: first, he is the third best cornerback in a draft where three of the five players are cornerbacks and, second, scouts believe him to be an off-field mess. With questions about his character and discipline at the professional level, many would be surprised to see Bryant drafted here.

Martayveus Carter – RB, Grand Valley State

Martayveus Carter was one of the best running backs in the Division II football. However, that doesn’t mean he will be drafted. While Carter may likely be signed by a team to see what he can do in training camp, the belief around the league is that he projected to be an undrafted free agent either way and a team will likely decide to keep their 2019 draft picks rather than taking a flyer on Carter.

Bright Ugwoegbu – LB, Oregon State

Bright Ugwoegbu was productive at times during his three seasons at Oregon State but seems unlikely to be drafted after disappointing workouts in front of NFL scouts. Ugwoegbu is undersized at the linebacker position (standing just over six feet and weighing less than 210 pounds) but lacks the speed needed to make up for his size. Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated wrote Ugwoegbu has “safety size, with defensive tackle speed”. That is not a good scouting report to have attached to you entering a draft process in which most teams find sacrificing 2019 picks to be too much of a cost anyway.

Phil Mickelson Net Worth As Of 2018: How Much Is Mickelson Worth?

Phil Mickelson is an American professional golfer. He is well regarded as one of the most crafty players on the tour. Mickelson is often called by his nickname “Lefty” because, well, he swings the club from the left side. Over the course of his career, Mickelson has won 49 professional titles and secured five Major victories. He is one of 16 players ever to have won three of the four majors. The only major victory that has eluded Mickelson is the U.S. Open where he has been a runner-up a record six times.

Also, Mickelson has been Tiger Woods main rival throughout their careers. Both are reportedly in talks for a one-on-one winner-take-all $10 million match.

So how much is Mickelson worth?

Net Worth as of 2018: $365 million

Mickelson has turned his successful golfing career into a very lucrative one. He not only gained his wealth through tournament prize winnings but also massive endorsement deals. Let’s take a look at his career accomplishments and how he obtained such a substantial net worth.

Early Life

Mickelson was born on June 16, 1970, in San Deigo, California. His father Philip Mickelson taught him the game of golf at an early age. Phil would learn his left-handed swing by mirroring his father’s right-handed swing. Besides swing his golf club from the left-side, Mickelson is naturally right-handed.

Mickelson was awarded a golf scholarship from Arizona State University. At ASU, Mickelson became nationally known as the face of amateur U.S. golf. Mickelson won three NCAA individual national championships and was honored with the Haskin Award as the most outstanding collegiate golfer three times. The Sun Devils also won the NCAA team national championship in 1990 during Mickelson’s reign.

Shortly after graduating from Arizona State, Mickelson turned pro. From an earlier 1991 PGA tour win as an amateur at Northern Telecom Open, in Tuscon, Mickelson was able to bypass the tour’s qualifying process.

Mickelson won the Byron Nelson Golf Classic and the World Series of Golf in 1996, the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am in 1998, the Colonial National Invitation in 2000 and the Greater Hartford Open in 2001 and again in 2002. Even with all those tour victories, a major title still eluded him.

Up until 2003, Mickelson finished in the top ten 17 times during his major appearances. The media dubbed him, “the best player never to win a major”.

2004-2009

Mickelson finally got the monkey off his back in 2004. He dramatically won his first major championship as he knocked in a birdie putt on 18 to secure the 2004 Masters win on the final hole.

The 2004 year did not come without some controversy though as his sponsor Titleist dropped him. Mickelson left a voicemail with rival company Callaway Golf praising their equipment and thanking them for helping his brother get some of their clubs. The voicemail eventually made its way back to Titleist and strained the relationship ultimately leading to them dropping Mickelson. He subsequently signed with Callaway Golf whom he is still with currently.

Mickelson won his second major in 2005 at the PGA Championship at Baltusrol. He finished four under par and edged out Steve Elkington and Thomas Bjørn by one shot.

In the spring of 2006, Mickelson secured his second green jacket and third overall major of his career when he won the 2006 Masters. After the victory, Mickelson reached the highest ranking of his career as the No. 2 ranked golfer in the world.

Shortly after winning his 36th career tour victory, Mickelson was met with devastating news as his wife Amy was diagnosed with breast cancer. Mickelson immediately suspended his PGA tour schedule following the tragic news. His first golf tournament after the diagnoses occurred at the 2009 US Open. Mickelson would finish second to Lucas Glover after bogeys on 15 and 17 in the final round.

Tragedy again struck the Mickelson family as his mother Mary was diagnosed with breast cancer as well. Mary and Amy would receive treatment from the same medical facility.

Even with all that Mickelson endured during the 2009 calendar year he still managed to finish the season second behind Tiger Woods in the FedEx Cup standings.

2010-Present

The 2010 season got off to a good start as Mickelson claimed his third green jacket, winning the 2010 Masters. The victory raised his overall major championship wins to four. During Mickelson’s birdie putt that captured him the Masters win Jim Nantz called it on the broadcast, “That’s a win for the family” after all they had gone through in 2009.

In 2012, Mickelson hit the 40 career tour wins mark after he won the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. He would later go onto have a strong showing at the Masters finishing third.

In 2013, Mickelson won his fifth major championship at the Open Championship in Scotland. The win meant so much to Mickelson tears ran down his face on the 18th green. He moved just one US Open victory away from completing the career grand slam.

Since his Open Championship win, Mickelson has been hampered by inconsistent play, a swinging coach change, and injuries.

In March of 2018, Mickelson ended his winless streak that dated by to 2013 when he captured his third WGC championship at the WGC-Mexico Championship. He became the oldest winner of the event at 47 years old.

Currently, Mickelson ranks as second on the PGA Tours’ all-time money list for tournament prize winnings behind Tiger Woods. In 2011 he was rated as the second highest paid athlete in the world earning over $62 million. He is endorsed by KPMG, ExxonMobil (Mickelson and wife Amy started a teacher sponsorship fund with the company), Rolex, Workday, Inc., Callaway Golf and Mizzen+Main.

MAIN CARD

Israel Adesanya def. Brad Tavares via unanimous decision (49-46, 50-45, 50-45)

Tavares came out pushing forward and putting the pressure on Adesanya immediately so he was unable to get comfortable. Adesanya, however, remained in front of his opponent and was calm, composed, and taunting Tavares despite not yet landing a significant shot. Tavares shot for a takedown with 90 seconds remaining in the opening frame, but Adesanya was able to remain on his feet. Adesanya ended the round with a slick roll for a leg lock but the final bell rang. Adesanya continued to show he was comfortable in the cage, showboating against Tavares and mixing in some flashy techniques.

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

Adesanya continued to have the higher output in Round 3 and continued to look comfortable against the more experienced fighter. Near the end of the round, Adesanya landed two huge shots that staggered Tavares, before unloading with a flurry of straight punches and low kicks before we entered the championship rounds.

HUGE right hand backs Tavares up. @Stylebender looking sharp through three rounds! #TUF27 pic.twitter.com/xBFJBiAoki

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

To start the fourth round, Brad Tavares showed his first sign of life by securing a takedown. Adesanya then threatened with a triangle choke in an attempt to sweep, but Tavares remained in dominant position. Adesanya swept Tavares with a kimura and was then able to get back in his groove after a strike that left Tavares gushing with blood. Tavares began to fade.

That elbow tho …@Stylebender #TUF27 pic.twitter.com/zXeRXU4N5C

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

Tavares had no answer for Adesanya in the final five minutes. With multiple failed takedown attempts and the inability to defend Adesanya, it was clear that Tavares needed a miracle if he was going to come away with the win. Ultimately, the fight went to the judge’s scorecards and it was time for the inevitable decision.

Mike Trizano def. Joe Giannetti via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28) – “TUF 27” lightweight tournament final

Giannetti came out cool and calm, showing no signs that he was about to enter the biggest fight of his life. Just one minute into the bout, Giannetti landed a takedown of Trizano and began working on taking his back. On the mat, Giannetti and Trizano scrambled for position, with Giannetti isolating Trizano’s leg with a triangle. The two men exchanged positions, with Trizano finishing off the round while threatening with a triangle choke.

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

Trizano carried his momentum over into Round 2, landing an early takedown and working from halfguard. The two men were tied up on the mat and engaged in a grappling chess match, before Giannetti attempted to roll into a leg lock. After that attempt failed, Giannetti was holding position in an inverted body triangle while taking elbows to his rear from his opponent. It was a stalemate, with neither fighter landing significant damage and the round ended to a chorus of boos after two minutes of elbows to the butt.

The third round was more inaction, with both men circling the cage and looking to avoid a big mistake as we went to the judges.

Brad Katona def. Jay Cucciniello via unanimous decision (30-26, 30-26, 30-26) — “TUF 27” featherweight tournament final

As the two men began the fight feeling each other out, they exchanged kicks from a distance while looking to avoid making the first crucial error. Near the end of Round 1, Katona scored the most significant strike of the opening frame with a heavy shot that dropped Cucciniello to the mat.

OHHHH @BradKatona drops Cuccinello in round 1, but bounces right back up!

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

Katona was the more active fighter throughout the first five minutes and carried his momentum into the second round with a big left hand that dropped Cucciniello once again. Katona was able to put Cucciniello on his back and work from inside of the guard for a majority of Round 2, establishing his control of the fight without every facing any real danger. Katona continued his dominance in the final five minutes, scoring an early takedown and grinding Cucciniello out until the final bell.

Alex Caceres def. Martin Bravo via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

The bout began with plenty of energy and wild scrambles, as Bravo attempted to get Caceres to the mat. Bruce Leeroy, however, was able to use his balance to remain standing as the two men continued to slug it out in the middle of the cage. Bravo was able to get Caceres on his back, but Caceres’ active guard allowed him to avoid any significant damage while attempting to look for a submission. Caceres was able to rock Bravo early in Round 2, but failed to capitalize after attempting to take Bravo’s back being shrugged off. However, Caceres kept the pressure on his opponent.

HUGE shot by Caceres drops Bravo in round 2! #TUF27 pic.twitter.com/B3eDnn6CB7

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

Caceres was getting more comfortable in his stand-up and began tagging Bravo, who appeared to be fading as the round went on. Caceres was gaining confidence as the second frame went on and he consistently found a home for his shots. Bravo did show some life in the closing minute of the round, landing his own heavy shots and forcing Caceres to hesitate in his own striking. Bravo found his most success in the final round, causing Caceres to shoot in for a desperate takedown attempt midway through the round. The two men were content to exchange blows and slug it out as time expired.

What do you think?

Roxanne Modafferi def. Barb Honchak via TKO (elbow) – Round 2, 3:32

Modafferi came out feinting her jab and trying to keep Honchak at distance, while Honchak appeared to be content playing the counter game. Midway through the round, Roxy was able to land a takedown and began working from half guard. Once in top position, Modafferi was controlling the action and raining down some ground-and-pound while smothering her opponent for the opening five minutes. To open round two, Modafferi was able to counter Honchak during a scramble and once again found herself in a dominant position. Modafferi transitioned to full mount and continued to deliver damage to her opponent. Modafferi was raining down elbows from the top until referee Marc Goddard was forced to step in and stop the fight.

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

Alessio Di Chirico def. Julian Marquez via split decision (27-30, 29-28, 29-28)

After a brief feeling out process to open the fight, Di Chirico began throwing the heavy leather while Marquez was returning the favor with some big shots of his own. Both men continued to stay in the pocket, however, with Di Chirico temporarily rocking his opponent. Once he recovered, Marquez began stalking Di Chirico and landed a huge shot of his own that forced Di Chirico’s legs to buckle. Di Chirico eventually changed levels and looked to take the fight to the mat, but he was instead left working his way out of a guillotine choke. Marquez came out in Round 2 much more aggressive than the opening frame, but as he slowed down Di Chirico was able to neutralize the fight against the fence. Both men were willing to exchange and were trading big shots before Di Chirico landed another takedown and began working from top position.

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

Marquez had a brief flash of brilliance as he attempted to isolate Di Chirico’s arm, but it was Di Chirico who ended the round in dominant position with just five minutes remaining in the bout. Both men significantly slowed in the final frame as exhaustion began to set in. Di Chirico landed yet another takedown midway through the round, but Marquez used an armbar to sweep and get the fight back to the feet until the final bell.

PRELIMINARY CARD

Montana De La Rosa def. Rachael Ostovich via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 3, 4:21

De La Rosa was looking to use her reach advantage in the early moments of the fight, throwing out her jab to keep Ostovich at a distance. De La Rosa was landing with consistency as Ostovich struggled to get inside. Ostovich never managed to close the distance throughout he opening five minutes as De La Rosa showed maturity and poise to avoid making any mistakes. In Round 2, Ostovich did manage to engage in a clinch, but it was De La Rosa who was having the most success and controlling the action against the cage. As the pace picked up, De La Rosa was still the more effective striker while Ostovich was looking to land the big shot.

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

In the final frame, Ostovich was finally able to grab a hold of De La Rosa and took her opponent’s back. De La Rosa was able to regain a favorable position, but Ostovich continued to search for an armbar before De La Rosa broke free. De La Rosa then took the back of Ostovich and locked in the body triangle. De La Rosa then postured up and rained down some heavy ground-and-pound. De La Rosa then went for a rear-naked choke and was able to force the tap.

Luis Pena def. Richie Smullen via submission (guillotine) – Round 1, 3:32

Both men came out looking to push a high pace, but it didn’t take long for Smullen to look for his advantage by taking the fight to the mat. Smullen was working from inside of Pena’s guard, but unable to inflict any serious damage. After a brief scramble, Pena was able to land a takedown of his own before allowing the fight to return to the feet. Pena began teeing off on Smullen and cracked his opponent with three heavy shots that dropped him, before latching on to Smullen’s neck and working for a guillotine choke. Pena mounted Smullen while the choke was locked in and eventually forced the tap.

John Gunther def. Allan Zuniga via majority decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28)

Gunther came out pushing the pace and immediately began working for a takedown attempt against the cage. Gunther kept the pressure on Zuniga and was able to land multiple takedowns while smothering his opponent on the mat. Zuniga was visibly frustrated as the round expired after spending the majority of the opening frame fighting to get back to his feet.

— UFC (@ufc) July 7, 2018

The second round started off with much of the same, but Zuniga was able to start finding a home for his left hand to the body as the round went on. After eating a few shots, Gunther once again worked in the clinch to secure a takedown against the fence. Gunther was relentless in the third and final round, once again tying up Zuniga and controlling the fight against the cage. Very little damage was done, but Gunther was dominating position and Zuniga was unable to mount any form of offense. The fight ended with a flurry as the final bell rang.

Bryce Mitchell def. Tyler Diamond via majority decision (29-28, 29-28, 28-28)

Diamond controlled the center of the Octagon from the early moments of the bout, before shooting for a low-single leg takedown. Once on the matt, Mitchell neutralized Diamond with the rubber guard before eventually sweeping position and making his way back to his feet. Mitchell then landed a takedown of his own in an attempt to break free of a choke attempt from Diamond. In Round 2, Mitchell was able to find great success off of his back, throwing some brutal elbows to the head of Diamond while looking to lock in a triangle choke. The choke was threatening, but Diamond was able to escape and found himself in top position. Once on top, Diamond was able to land some heavy ground-and-pound of his own as the round expired.

The two men were willing to slug it out in the final frame, taking the center of the octagon and exchanging stand-up. However, just over a minute into the round, Diamond shot for a takedown and was able to put Mitchell flat on his back. Once on the mat, Diamond was able to impose his will and was wearing down his opponent with heavy pressure from the top position. Diamond continued to hold a dominant position as the round expired and we went to the judges.

Steven Peterson def. Matt Bessette via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Peterson found himself working off of his back early in the bout, but he was able to mount some offense and threatened Bessette with a dangerous guillotine choke attempt. Bessette escaped and was able to work his way back to his feet. The two men exchanged blows once the fight returned standing. Bessette had noticeable damage on his face from the exchanges throughout the remainder of the round. However, he was still able to impose his will with some stiff uppercuts to Peterson. In Round 2, the most significant strike came when Bessette cracked Peterson with a devastating headkick, but Peterson somehow remained on his feet. Peterson was then able to rally, scoring a takedown and taking Bessette’s back as time was running out in the round. Bessette finished the round on Peterson’s back, landing some heavy punches and ending on a high note.

Peterson landed a takedown early on in the final frame and once again controlled his opponent from the back mount position. Peterson was staying active and locked in the body triangle, while looking for an opening to attempt a rear-naked choke. Peterson was ultimately unable to lock in a fight-ending submission, but he held dominant position for a majority of the five minutes and found himself in good position with the fight heading to the judge’s scorecards.

Gerald Meerschaert def. Oskar Piechota via submission (rear-naked choke) – Round 2, 4:55

Piechota was able to show off his dominance on the ground early once the fight hit the mat. The moment Piechota found himself in top position, he was constantly threatening with a D’arce, arm triangle, and a relentless string of submissions. After the referee stood the fight back up, Piechota scored a knockdown and immediately pounced on his opponent, once again threatening with submission attempts. Meerschaert was able to survive and finished the round in top position with some heavy knees to the body. Meerschaert found much more success in Round 2, finding a submission attempt of his own and peppering Piechota with some vicious ground-and-pound. After some big knees and elbows, Meerschaert was able to lock in a deep rear-naked choke that put Piechota to sleep to cap off an incredible comeback.

WHAT. A. ROUND. @The_Real_GM3 POURS it on, then submits Piechota w/ the RNC! Wow! #TUF27 pic.twitter.com/AKUvZXqcZg

The Ultimate Fighter

The Ultimate Fighter 28 has been confirmed. On Friday, July 6, the UFC announced that the next season of the long-running reality television series will be coached by UFC middleweight champion Robert Whittaker and TUF alum Kelvin Gastelum, who won season 17 of the show. The two men will then face off for the title later this year.

The announcement was made during the FOX Sports 1 broadcast of The Ultimate Fighter 27 Finale.

Tryouts for season 28 of The Ultimate Fighter were held in May, with the promotion targeting heavyweights and women’s featherweight prospects. There is currently no word on when the show will premiere.

It could also mark the final season of The Ultimate Fighter, with the UFC set to begin its broadcasting deal with ESPN next year.

The 27-year-old Whittaker, who has a professional record of 20-4, is currently riding a nine-fight winning streak. He most recently defended his undisputed title with a split decision win over Yoel Romero at UFC 225 in June.

Gastelum, meanwhile, gets his first crack at UFC gold.

The 26-year-old Kings MMA product is currently on a two-fight winning streak with a knockout victory over Michael Bisping and split decision win over top 185-pound contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza in his most recent outings. Gastelum also scored a TKO victory over former champion Vitor Belfort in March 2017, but the bout was overturned to a no contest after Gastelum tested positive for a cannabis metabolite.

Worst College Football Programs

College Football fans, and the game itself are second to none. We have seen thousands of fans travel in herds to destinations hundreds of miles away in order to cheer on their favorite team. Programs like Penn State, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame, Georgia, and Nebraska will bring an extremely large fanbase to away games and they make their presence felt. Some fanbases are way more annoying than others but you get my point. However, there are programs that people tend to forget about because they are so god awful. These teams will get absolutely mauled every weekend except for the times they play FCS opponents. Even games against FCS opponents aren’t guaranteed wins for some schools. With that being said, let’s take a look at 10 of the most abysmal College Football teams.

10. Kansas Jayhawks

Instagram Photo

Sweet Jesus this team is atrocious. After a random 12-1 season in 2007, the Jayhawks are 28-93 since 2008 and have won only one conference game in the Big 12 since 2015. Coach David Beaty has his hands full and the Jayhawks have been the Big 12 cellar dweller for quite some time. The trend is expected to continue into the future as Kansas is projected to finish last in the Big 12 in 2018. However, their 2018 recruiting class did bring in two four-star recruits. The Crimson and Blue averaged 18.7 points per game and gave up an average of 43.4 points per game, which is ranked 129th out of 130 teams. Maybe better days are ahead? Don’t count on it though.

9. Connecticut Huskies

Instagram Photo

Coach Randy Edsall was fired from his job at the University of Maryland midway through the 2015 season and later came back to UConn where he coached from 1999-2010. Before Edsall came back, Bob Diaco had a record of 11-26 in three years and UConn football was the laughing stock of the American Athletic Conference. This team averaged just over 23 points per game last season and gave up an average of well over 37 per game. This team has been abysmal for the past few years and it is expected to continue in 2018 with the possibility of winning maybe two or three games yet again.

8. Charlotte 49ers

Instagram Photo

Yes, I understand that Charlotte is a relatively new program. Yes, they are trying to find their way in the FBS, but it’s been tough sledding from the get-go. The 49ers established their program in 2015 and hold a record of 7-29. Yes, that is only 36 games. However, this team has been virtually non-competitive against its opponents. The 49ers averaged 14.2 points per game in 2017, which was good for 128th in the country. On defense, they gave up an average of 32.8 points per game, which placed them at 103rd in the country. Will Charlotte become competitive in the near future? Probably not.

7. Rice Owls

Instagram Photo

The Owls got obliterated in almost every game this past season and they have a new coach in Mike Bloomgren. Rice averaged 16.2 points per game on offense and surrendered an average of 35.8 points per game. They beat a winless UTEP team just a week after getting brutally mauled by Stanford in Australia. This team is expected to encounter the same struggles as last year with the implementation of a new offensive scheme. Will the Owls become competitive in the Conference USA again and reach their first bowl game since 2014? Maybe not this year.

6. Oregon State Beavers

Instagram Photo

The Beavers are easily one of the worst teams in the country. However, they won’t be at the bottom for much longer. Coach Gary Andersen probably wishes that he never left Wisconsin. The Beavers went 7-23 under Andersen and interim coach Cory Hall went 0-6 to finish the 2017 campaign. The lone win in 2017 was a 35-32 win over Portland State from the FCS and the Andersen era was nothing short of an absolute trainwreck. The defense gave up an average of well over 40 points per game. Let that sink in. With Beaver alum Jonathan Smith coming in as the new coach, the Beavers should struggle but show progress in 2018. It will take some time, but brighter days are ahead for the Beavers.

5. Bowling Green Falcons

Instagram Photo

Ay Ziggy should be more like ay ay ay. In two seasons, coach Mike Jinks has a record of 6-18 and his teams have given up 77 points in two different games in the 2016 season. Yes, a team scored 77 points twice. Ohio State won 77-10 and Memphis won 77-3. I’m no genius here, but that is a major issue. With a new defensive coordinator in Carl Pelini, the Falcons have addressed their most serious issue and it’s time to go up from here. For now, they are near the bottom of the list. That could potentially change as time progresses. It’s going to take a lot of time and patience though.

4. Kent State Golden Flashes

Instagram Photo

I have seen Kent State play against my beloved Nittany Lions three times. Twice in person, and once on TV. Kent State is just absolutely awful. In the 2017 season, the Golden Flashes averaged 12.8 points per game, which was good for 129th out of 130 teams. YIKES! Simply put that this team gets a lovely pay-day every time they go play Penn State, Alabama, Ohio State, and Clemson. My Nittany Lions have to play Kent State once again in this upcoming 2018 season and it has a good chance of being over at halftime. The excitement is through the roof!

3. San Jose State Spartans

Instagram Photo

THIS! IS! SPARTA! However, THIS! IS! AWFUL! The Spartans averaged 15.8 points per game in 2017 and they need all of the help they can get to at least remain competitive. This team gave up an average of 41.7 points per game and that was ranked 127th out of 130 teams. For a team with not much working for them, one bright spot will be the defensive line. They are one of the most experienced units in the country entering 2018. Will the offense rise from ineptitude? That remains a question mark.

2. Texas State Bobcats

Instagram Photo

Texas State has had a program since 2012 and has had two winning seasons. Since 2015, the Bobcats have a record of 7-29 and coach Everett Withers has a record of 4-20 with almost every single loss being a no-contest. The Sun Belt Conference does have Appalachian State and Arkansas State running the show, but Texas State will struggle to find winning ways for years to come. Even though there will be more experience on both sides of the ball, this team should show some improvement, but drop off later on down the road.

1. UTEP Miners

Instagram Photo

That man above is the bright spot from the lone 0-12 team in 2017. Offensive lineman Will Hernandez was selected in the second round by the New York Giants and he is a nasty man on the field. The Miners from El Paso, just miles from the Mexican border, had the worst offense in the country averaging 11.8 points per game. No wonder they went 0-12. Every game except for a 15-14 loss to Western Kentucky was a no contest. With a new coach in Dana Dimel, will the College of Mines win games this year? All signs are pointing towards yes. The offense and program itself will go into full rebuilding mode and progress should come rather quickly.

World Cup Bracket: Semifinals Schedule & Game Times

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is winding down, with the semifinals of the tournament set for Tuesday, July 10 and Wednesday, July 11 in Russia. After a wild quarterfinals round that included pre-tournament favorites Brazil being bounced by Belgium, a masterclass from France over Uruguay, and an impressive performance that showed the rebirth of the England squad — which has not made a World Cup or EURO final since winning it all in 1966 — it all came down to host nation Russia vs. Croatia for the final spot.

In the final quarterfinal match, fans got everything they could have asked for. After an early score from Russia, Croatia was able to find an equalizer and the two countries once again headed to extra time. Each team netted a goal in extra time, leading to another penalty shootout with Croatia narrowly coming out on top and putting an end to Russia’s dream World Cup showing.

The first semifinal match will take place at Krestovsky Stadium in Saint Petersburg, while the second semifinal will be held at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, the same site that will host the tournament final on Sunday, July 15.

As the tournament continues, all games will be televised on FOX Sports 1 or FOX. If you’re unable to get in front of a television, you can catch the action online or with your mobile device by visiting FOX Sports Go or downloading the FOX Sports Go app.

All of the information you need for the semifinals of the tournament — including the updated bracket and schedule for the remainder of the World Cup — can be seen below.
