NBA Draft 2018: Top 5 Must-See Sleepers

0
0

Every year, the NBA draft produces rotational players beyond the lottery. Or some late lottery guys play like they were the best player in their class, Donovan Mitchell. Other times there are gems in the second round like a Draymond Green or Manu Ginobili. The following list takes a look at five players from the 2018 draft that could exceed expectations in their rookie years.

1. Robert Williams III, PF/C, 27th, Boston Celtics

Instagram Photo

Falling all the way to 27th due to off-court issues along with a nagging knee injury, the rich got richer. The one piece that general manager Danny Ainge covets for his already loaded team is that rim-running center that can catch lobs on one end, and block everything on the other, similar to Clint Capela. In bigs Al Horford, Aron Baynes, Daniel Theis, or even Greg Monroe, none of them are really elite at being a rim-runner. Enter Robert Williams, the American version of Clint Capela, who thrives at protecting the rim thanks to his above-average wingspan and elite leaping ability. On the offensive end, Williams is still raw, where the majority of his buckets come from lobs or putbacks from his relentless effort on the offensive glass. However, a trait that goes unnoticed with Williams is his ability to pass the basketball and understand the game. In the system that coach Brad Steven’s has implemented in Boston, he needs bigs that can pass the ball and see the court. Williams may be the perfect fit, and assuming Brad unlocks his potential like he has with so many other of his prospects, the Celtics will come away with a feeling that they got the steal of the draft.

2. Kevin Huerter, SG/SF, 19th, Atlanta Hawks

Instagram Photo

A tough hand injury prior to the NBA draft was the one setback that kept Huerter’s meteoric rise out of the lottery. Arguably the best catch and shoot threat in the draft, Huerter should fit in nicely with newly acquired point guard Trae Young along with an existing core featuring Tauren Prince and John Collins. At 6’7 with an above-average wingspan and solid frame, Huerter as all the tools to develop his game into the mold of Klay Thompson. If he comes back fully healthy and fully integrated into the Hawks rotation, he may have the biggest impact on this team as a rookie as well as long-term. The Hawks clearly have a vision, and while Young Huerter may never be Steph & Klay right out the gates, there is potential they could do similar things those guys do to a certain degree.

3. Khyri Thomas, G/SF, 38th, Detroit Pistons

Instagram Photo

This pick might have been the best value pick of the entire draft. The Pistons have two major weaknesses in defending and perimeter shooting. Arguably the two most important aspects in today’s game. In their past couple drafts they have opted to go with one-way specialists; a lockdown defender in Stanley Johnson, a lights-out shooter in Luke Kennard. The problem with these two guys is that Stanley can’t shoot (when he learns to he will be a star) and Kennard can’t defend. Enter Khyri Thomas, who at 6’3 with a super long wingspan thrives on perimeter defense and perimeter shooting. He also won’t need to worry about playmaking as the ball will mostly be in Reggie Jackson, Stanley Johnson, and Blake Griffin for playmaking duties. Another picture perfect fit, making the Pistons very interesting for the upcoming 2018-19 season.

4. Omari Spellman, PF/C, 30th, Atlanta Hawks

Instagram Photo

Another shooter for the Hawks as they try to reshape their offensive approach. In Spellman —unlike Huerter and Young— they are getting a stretch big. At 6’9 with a 7’2 wingspan, it remains to be seen what his duties will be on the defensive side but the potential to switch, protect the rim and rebound is there for him if he can get himself into better shape. It is clear that the Hawks have been influenced by the Warriors and are going to let it fly from beyond the arc whenever a look is there. A lineup of Young, Huerter, Prince, Spellman, and Collins down the road could be a really nice team or even a contender depending on how coach Lloyd Pierce can develop these guys. The Hawks may have botched the first trade of the night sending away the Slovenian Star, Luke Doncic, however by adding Huerter and Spellman, the Hawks deserve credit for picking a vision and sticking to it.

5. Jevon Carter, 32nd, G, Memphis Grizzlies

Instagram Photo

Another match made in heaven, the grit-and-grind Grizzlies get the most grit-and-grind players from the draft in senior guard Jevon Carter. What Carter lacks in size and athleticism he makes up for in his effort and hustle. His on ball-defense is superb and is going to allow him to find minutes this season. His offensive game still needs works as he needs to sharpen up his outside stroke but he can be a nice player off the bench as a change of pace guard that can press or play a half a court game. Like the Hawks, the Grizzlies also stuck to their pre-draft vision. By selecting Carter, along with number four overall pick Jaren Jackson Jr, the Grizzlies were looking for defense, and it just happens they may have found the best two at their respective positions in the entire draft. This was another perfect fit and while Carter may never be a star starting point guard, he’s going to have a long career as a role player.

MJ Hegar is a political candidate to watch. The Texas Democrat is running for United States Representative from Texas’ 31st congressional district, challenging John Carter, and her campaign ad went viral as she shows her no-nonsense attitude which is “”about opening, pushing, and sometimes kicking through every door in my way.” Hager, a war hero, served in the Air Force and served three tours in Afghanistan.

While in Afghanistan, Hegar’s unit had their helicopter shot down. It was then that she rose up to the moment and helped to save her team from Taliban capture after their Medevac helicopter was gunned down.

For her efforts to save her team, Hager was awarded a Purple Heart and Distinguished Flying Cross for her bravery.

Hager, who finished training at the top of her class, is just the sixth woman in United States history to be awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and only the second to receive the award with the valor device. She also won The Lillian K. Keil Award for Women’s Contributions to the Military.

Check out photos of Hegar on the campaign trail and her highly-praised campaign ad below.

“Major MJ Hegar is a hero twice over—a Purple Heart-decorated pilot, and the soldier who challenged a discriminatory military policy, winning women the right to serve on the front lines for the first time. She’s also the author of the new memoir Shoot Like a Girl—a soon-to-be major motion picture,” The Lavin Agency says. “Hegar’s exceptional grit shows that fighting for what you believe in—in enemy territory and beyond—is always worthwhile.”

UFC Champ Rose Namjunas Dealing With ‘Neck Fracture’

YouTube/UFC

UFC champion Rose Namajunas is dealing with a serious neck injury. This week, the strawweight titleholder appeared on “Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show” on ESPN and revealed that she has been dealing with a handful of nagging injuries. One of them, according to Namajunas, is a “neck fracture.” The good news, however, is that Namajunas says she does not need surgery.

“Physically I’ve got some injuries that I’ve been dealing with for a while,” Namajunas said during the interview, via MMA NYTT. “I had a neck fracture [actually] I have a neck fracture. I have some stenosis which means like, the spinal cord that goes through your vertebrae or whatever, the hole for it is a little smaller because of the fracture.

“Sometimes I was just getting real bad headaches every day in training camp and stuff like that and it was just the physical activity, sometimes it was just like the stress would aggravate it even more and like flying places really makes it worse and just stuff like that. So that’s been something I’ve just been focusing on, doing little exercises and stuff and just lots of rehab. There’s really not a lot of information out there.”

While Namjunas recovers from the injury, she hopes that a No. 1 contender will emerge.

“I will have to see how things play out,” Namajunas said. “I have no interesting in getting right back in there at the moment. I think I need to let things play out. “I think honestly, the top-5, after beating Joanna twice and for her to be so far [ahead] and who knows how she will turn up against Tecia. She could hit her win one punch and she’s out so who knows. But the level that she’s at, it’s hard for me to see the top-5 and who the next contender is. I feel like the top-5 there needs to a clear contender.”

Currently, former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk is the No. 1 ranked contender. However, Namajunas has defeated Jedrzejczyk in two consecutive bouts. Sitting at No. 2 is Jessica Andrade, who many believe should get the next title shot.

Claudia Gadelha, who recently defeated former champ Carla Esparza; Karolina Kowalkiewicz, who is on a two-fight winning streak; and Tecia Torres, who is set to fight Joanna Jedrzejczyk in July, round out the top five.

Entertainment Tonight

Haleigh Broucher, a current student at Texas A&M University, will be giving up social media for the next few weeks while she spends her summer in Los Angeles as a cast member on season 20 of the CBS hit reality show Big Brother. Broucher is an avid Twitter and Instagram user, so there will be a noticeable absence on her followers’ newsfeeds while she tries to come away with Big Brother’s $500,000 prize.

At 21 years old, Haleigh, is majoring in psychology and has a minor in sociology, among the show’s youngest cast members.

Additional info from her CBS bio reads:

What would you take into the house and why:

  • iPod or something to play music on because there isn’t a day that passes that I don’t listen to at least one song.
  • My own bed because I’m kind of a bed critic and I’m not sure how the Big Brother ones will fare.
  • My cat, Scarlett, of course, to keep me company and to give good snuggles.

Fun facts about yourself:

  • In 4th grade, I raised a goat named Ringo for FFA (Future Farmers of America). I never raised one again…
  • I volunteer at St. Joe’s hospital for the mentally ill because my father suffers from mental illness.
  • In 6th grade, I found out that I was adopted.
  • I have two fears that seem unreasonable: chainsaws and crossing the street.

Stephanie Wilkinson: Full Story Of Red Hen Co-Owner Resigning

YouTube/Fox News

Stephanie Wilkinson has stepped down. Wilkinson, who is the co-owner of The Red Hen restaurant in Lexington, Virginia, has decided to resign as executive director of Main Street Lexington, a volunteer-based organization that helps promote the city.

The move was announced on Tuesday, June 25.

“Considering the events of the past weekend, Stephanie felt it best, that for the continued success of Main Street Lexington, she should step aside,” Elizabeth Outland Branner, Board President of Main Street Lexington, said in a statement, via WDBJ7.

The resignation comes in the aftermath of White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders claiming she was refused service and asked to leave the restaurant because of her affiliation to Donald Trump.

“I was babbling a little, but I got my point across in a polite and direct fashion. I explained that the restaurant has certain standards that I feel it has to uphold, such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation.” “I said, ‘I’d like to ask you to leave,'” Wilkinson claims to have told Sanders during the incident, via PEOPLE. “I’m not a huge fan of confrontation. I have a business, and I want the business to thrive. This feels like the moment in our democracy when people have to make uncomfortable actions and decisions to uphold their morals.”

Sanders reportedly left the restaurant without making a scene.

Since the alleged incident, there have been some lawmakers like Maxine Waters who have encouraged people to harass members of the Trump administration out in public, but those comments have been condemned by a number of prominent Congress members and leaders in the Democratic Party.

Haleigh Broucher will be one to watch when season 20 of the CBS hit reality series Big Brother kicks off on Wednesday, June 27. Broucher, who is a student at Texas A&M University, is majoring in psychology and has a minor in sociology. Those studies could put the 21-year-old College Station native in great position to use her social game to manipulate fellow houseguests.

She describes herself as “classic, cautious and contagious.”

Haleigh hopes to use her college major to her advantage during the game to position herself for a shot at the $500,000 prize.

“I plan on using my school major, psychology, to analyze and deceive the houseguests,” she said in her official bio. “I know it is probably common for people to say they will use their careers or schooling, but I feel like mine will help, along with my social skills. I plan on feeling out the houseguests first, then pinpointing what makes them tick and rolling with it.”

When it comes to her favorite past houseguest, Derrick is the vet who got the edge.

“I really liked Derrick from season 16. I felt like he played an honest and goal-oriented game. There was never any move he made that made me question him AND he made it to the end without being nominated. Plus he’s the cutest person in the world and I just want to hug him,” she said.

28-Year-Old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Scores Biggest Upset Of Primary Season

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a rising star in the Democratic party and in the New York primaries on Tuesday, June 26, Ocasio-Cortez pulled off a stunner. It has been dubbed as the biggest upset of the primary season as the 28-year-old Democratic Socialist defeated 10-term Congressman Joe Crowley, who was the fourth-highest ranking Democrat in Congress.

It was the first time that a Democratic candidate challenged Crowley in New York’s 14th congressional district in 14 years.

“This is not an end, this is the beginning. This is the beginning because the message that we sent the world tonight is that it’s not OK to put donors before your community,” Ocasio-Cortez said as the votes came pouring in, via CNN.com.

“You have given this country hope, you have given this country proof that when you knock on your neighbor’s door, when you come to them with love, when you let them know that no matter your stance, you are there for them — that we can make change.”

Osario-Cortez used a relentless grassroots campaign to rise in popularity.

“The reason I was able to do that is because we have built a legitimately strong grassroots movement of organizers here to hold it down for 24 to 48 hours,” she said, “and I think that’s reflective of the strength of what we have built here. It was an advantage, actually, because our community here really wanted to do something and they didn’t want to feel like they were choosing organizing the campaign over choosing to comment and organize around this moment.

“We have families and communities here (in the 14th District) from Ecuador and Colombia, Bangladesh, Korea, Pakistan, and I see them every day, many of them are very scared about what’s going on,” she said. “With my campaign, in terms of immigration, we’re trying to say, ‘Hey, we’ve got your back.'”

The win from Ocasio-Cortez shows that Democrats are turning away from the establishment and embracing a new direction for the party. She has generated new excitement among the left-leaning voters and has introduced a wave of youth that the Democrats were in desperate need of.

Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign also showed that victory is within reach even if your opponent is willing to drastically outspend you.

UPSET! CNN projects a progressive political activist has upset a member of the House Democratic leadership in NY-14 Dem primary. 28-year-old Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has upset 10-term Congressman Joe Crowley. Crowley outraised Ocasio-Cortez 10 to 1.

Michael Rosfeld: Full Story Of Criminal Homicide Charge In Antwon Rose Shooting

Shutterstock

East Pittsburgh Police Officer Michael Rosfeld has been charged in the fatal shooting of 17-year-old Antwon Rose Jr. On Wednesday, June 27, KDKA Pittsburgh reported that Rosfeld has been charged with criminal homicide for shooting Rose as he was running away. Rosfeld had only been on duty in East Pittsburgh for three weeks and was sworn in just 90 minutes before pulling the trigger that ended Rose’s life on June 19.

Rose was placed on paid administrative leave after the shooting.

Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen Zappala will be holding a press conference to release more details at 11:00 a.m. ET on Wednesday.

Details on the fatal shooting from KDKA read:

The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. on June 19 in East Pittsburgh. Police were initially called to Kirkpatrick Avenue in North Braddock for reports of a drive-by shooting. At the scene, they found a 22-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. That man was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released.

Police obtained information on a vehicle that was seen fleeing the scene of the shooting.

Rosfeld pulled over a vehicle matching that description in East Pittsburgh around 10 minutes later. As he was placing handcuffs on the driver, who was a jitney driver, Rose and 17-year-old Zaijuan Hester got out and ran from the car.

On Tuesday, June 26, police arrested 17-year-old Zaijuan Hester, who was running from the vehicle with Rose, and charged him in connection to the drive-by shooting in North Braddock which took place earlier in the day on June 19.

This is a developing story. More information will be provided as it becomes available.

Tana Mongeau Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Tana Worth?

0

Tana Mongeau the blonde haired, vulgar, hilarious bombshell vlogger has recently reached her peak Youtube fame this year. At just the barely legal age of twenty, she has really made a name for herself in the content creator industry. Tana has both a vlog and “story time” channel that she posts on as much as her schedule allows. Recently she signed to Bella Thorne’s record label to continue her budding music career. Now let’s see how it all started for Tana in the Sin City that is Las Vegas Nevada. Just how much cash has this Gucci princess managed to make along the way?

Tana Mongeau 2018 Net Worth: $1 Million

1998-2015

Instagram Photo
Tana Mongeau was born on June 24th, 1998 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Growing up in an extremely low-income family household Mongeau truly learned the value of a dollar. She began rebelling from parents around the age of fourteen, the same age she began to use marijuana and alcohol. Tana credits her discovery of Youtube at age of eleven for keeping her sane through her preteen years and essentially as she’s put it in her videos “saving her life”. Mongeau began watching some of the world famous Youtubers of today such as Shane Dawson and the Gabbie Show starring Gabbie Hanna and knew she wanted to be part of this world.

Mongeau knew she was destined for stardom from the moment she was born, her likable personality, quick wit and sense of humor made it easy for her to talk to anyone. Which was a big help when it came to the creation of her own Youtube channel. But before Tana became the “Story Time” queen we all know and love, her first social platform appearance was through Twitter. Mongeau launched her very first tweet in 2012 and it was history in the making from there.

It wasn’t long after Tana’s Twitter account became a popular success that she finally joined the Youtube world. In April of 2015 Tana launched her Youtube account and very first video ever. At first, the young girl wanted to make her channel about fashion and style advice. But she quickly realized she had much more to offer than that. Mongeau’s personality and unapologetic nature allowed her to earn over 2.3 Million subscribers in just a little over a year!

2015-Present

Instagram Photo
Tana began this journey as just a young girl trying to find herself, she managed to take her viewers along on that journey as they cheered for her every step of the way. Tana Mongeau now has over 2.5 Million subscribers on Youtube, 2.5 Millon on Instagram and 1.7 Million on Twitter. She’s become quite the social influencer! Tana has even managed to bring her friends along on the journey helping all of them start their budding vlogger careers as well!

Mongeau has even stepped out of the Youtube box by releasing music and joining Bella Thorne’s Filthy Fangz record label as well. She’s put out singles like “Hefner” which Bella Thorne starred in and “W’s” her most recent single. Tana’s ability to make fun of herself and never take life too seriously is what got her this far in the entertainment industry.

Tana loves her life, family, friends and of course her fans! She credits them daily for everything they have given her! Mongeau continues to do everything in her power to give back to them! The recently shut down TanaCon was one of those activities. Mongeau fought to make the tickets for the content creator convention so cheap they oversold.

The fans who didn’t get tickets decided to wait outside the convention to catch of glimpse of the blonde beauty. When this became a potential safety risk due to the 20,000 fans outside, the convention was shut down. Tana was heartbroken about the poor planning on her part and vows to make it up to the fans. Knowing Tana that’s exactly what she’ll do! I can’t wait to see what she puts together next.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Instagram: Best Photos & Must-See Pictures

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a 28-year-old who defeated 10-term incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley in New York City’s 14th congressional district on Tuesday, June 26. This was Ocasio-Cortez’s first-ever term.

Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign was the first time in 14 years a member of his own party has attempted to unseat Crowley, who chairs the Queens County Democrats.

Some of Ocasio-Cortez’s campaign promises included universal health care, a federal jobs guarantee and the abolition of ICE.

via CNN:

Ocasio-Cortez’s own story begins in the Bronx, the same borough that, along with parts of Queens, delivered for her on primary day. She was born and raised there, the daughter of working class Puerto Rican parents — her father born in the South Bronx (he died in 2008, while she was in college); her mother on the island — she went on to study at Boston University and work in the office of liberal lion Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.

When she returned home, Ocasio-Cortez worked as a community organizer and, eventually, with economic stresses rooted in the recession and the loss of her father taking hold, began low-wage, long-hour work at restaurants to help support her family.

During the 2016 presidential season, she worked as an organizer for Sen. Bernie Sanders, who ran in the Democratic primary. In 2017, Ocasio-Cortez launched her campaign to unseat Crowley, the powerful Democrat who chairs the party in Queens County.

Cortez, who was born in the Bronx to working-class Puerto Ricans, will begin her term in 2019. Cortez studied at Boston University and went on to work for Sen. Ted Kennedy of Massachusetts.

She is currently a member of the Democratic Socialists of America.

Cortez also has the ability to connect with millennials, as she once tweeted “A Girl Has No Name: Headlines from the Political Patriarchy,” which is a Game Of Thromes reference.

NFC North 2018: Draft Picks to Watch

0
0

The NFC North has the potential to be the best division in the NFC in 2018. The Vikings defense is going to be dominant once again, and the Bears seem to have the pieces in place to be able to compete if Mitchell Trubisky develops the way the organization hopes he will. Aaron Rodgers will be healthy once again so the Packers will be competitive once again.

Rookies in the division will have to step up like Dalvin Cook did for the Vikings before tearing his ACL. Who has the potential to have a similar impact in 2018?

Chicago Bears

Instagram Photo

Anthony Miller

The second round receiver out of Memphis was super productive in college. He went for at least 1400 yards and 10 touchdowns in each of his last two seasons. The Bears went all in on their receiving corps in free agency, signing wide receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel, along with tight end Trey Burton.

The Bears are still hoping 2014 first round pick Kevin White can stay healthy and live up to the hype, but if not, Miller might see a lot of playing time this season. He has great hands, and the Bears have high hopes for him. Hopefully, he can develop some chemistry with Trubisky, and be a reliable receiver for the Bears for years to come.

Detroit Lions

Instagram Photo

Kerryon Johnson

The Lions traded up in the second round to take the running back out of Auburn, and rookie head coach Matt Patricia needs a bell cow back. Patricia isn’t the only one who needs it, quarterback Matthew Stafford does too. The Lions are going to shorten Stafford’s career if he keeps taking hits and doesn’t have a reliable back he can hand the ball off to.

The team’s first-round pick, center Frank Ragnow, shows that the Lions want to commit to being a hard-nosed team that can run the football. If the big, powerful Johnson could even be a 700-yard back, that would be huge for the Lions.

Green Bay Packers

Instagram Photo

J’Mon Moore

The Packers took a risk, taking the 6’3 receiver out of Missouri in the fourth round. Moore is a very talented guy, whose motivation was questioned off the field. Working with Aaron Rodgers might change that. Rodgers is going to need someone to step up, after losing his favorite target Jordy Nelson to the Raiders. Moore has the potential to develop into that kind of guy, and Green Bay’s system is perfect for him to do that. Only time will tell how he’ll develop, but if he can get on Rodgers’ good side, he should see a lot of balls thrown his way this year.

Minnesota Vikings

Instagram Photo

Mike Hughes

The Vikings have one of the deepest rosters in the NFL, and some scouts consider Hughes to be the best corner in the class. Getting him with the 30thpick was a steal for Mike Zimmer. Hughes is a physical corner who will fit very well in Zimmer’s defense. He and Xavier Rhodes have a chance to be one of the best corner duos in the NFL.

Trae Waynes has never truly lived up to the hype so he might be out by the middle of the season. Hughes will get a lot of looks early on from opposing quarterbacks, and he’ll have a chance to make a name for himself.

Rachel Swindler is one of the 16 contestants who will be vying for the $500,000 prize when season 20 of the CBS hit reality show Big Brother kicks off on Wednesday, June 27. The Las Vegas native, who was born in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, is hoping to balance all aspects of the game as she looks to come away with the win.

“My strategy for winning this game is to have a balance between my social and physical game. I already look physically threatening, so I want to try and downplay that as much as possible, at least in the beginning,” she said in her official bio.

“I’m not trying to go out there and win the first couple of HOHs. I want to be more behind the scenes building my social game and creating strong bonds. When necessary, I will win. I want to make sure I align myself with the right people from the beginning that I can stay loyal to until (hopefully) the end.”

From her official CBS bio:

What would you take into the house and why?
– My Bible.
– Pictures of friends and family.
– A foam roller.

Fun facts about yourself:
– I can do a killer monkey impression.
– I use my power over men to make huge tips on the job.
– My friends call me “Craychel.”

5 USC Greek Life Organizations Sue The University For Violating Their First Amendment Rights

Five University of Southern California Greek life organizations — four fraternities and one sorority — are suing the university for what they perceive as a violation of their first amendment rights.

The organizations that are suing the University of Southern California are The four USC fraternities-Sigma Chi, Beta Theta Pi, Theta Xi, and Tau Kappa Epsilon- and one sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta, filed the lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court on June 22.

The lawsuit claims that the university’s new policy that bans recruiting new students until they’ve finished a semester violates the First Amendment. It also dismisses USC’s claim that one new students need “one semester to acclimate to USC academics and social life.”

via USC Annenberg Media:

Starting this fall, new USC students must complete 12 units of classes before rushing a fraternity or a sorority. The new rule effectively keeps incoming freshman from rushing until the spring semester. Students also need a GPA of 2.5 or higher.

In a memo announcing the new policy to the USC community in September 2017, Vice President for Student Affairs Ainsley Carry said the first year of enrollment is “the toughest year of the transition to college life as students experience the most social and academic challenges.” Carry said like other universities, USC wants to give new students “time to acclimate to the university’s academic and social climate before participating in Greek-letter organizations.”

The lawsuit, filed by Kirkland & Ellis law firm, dismisses USC’s claim that new students need “one semester to acclimate to USC academics and social life.” “Students in sororities and fraternities perform just as well academically, if not better, than the student body population in general,” the lawsuit states with a copy of Fall 2017 Greek Life Community Academic Report attached.

The suit from the fraternities and sororities demands the USC retract their policy and “allow incoming first-year students to join a sorority or fraternity if they choose during their semester.”
