Continuing in our series of draft picks to watch, it’s time to move on to the NFC. The Rams took the NFC West by storm in 2017, and promptly traded away their top three draft picks to acquire Brandin Cooks and Marcus Peters. The Seahawks are trying to get younger after cutting Richard Sherman and trading Michael Bennett. The division is going to start with the Rams as heavy favorites, but it should be wide open behind them.

San Francisco 49ers

Dante Pettis

The 49ers made a huge investment in their future, giving Jimmy Garoppolo a massive contract, and traded up in the second round to get him some help. Pettis is an experienced receiver with reliable hands who can produce from day one at the NFL level. He’s also the all-time NCAA leader in punt return touchdowns so he can help the 9ers on multiple levels. He brings size and great route running to a team that needed major help at receiver in 2017.

Seattle Seahawks

Jamarco Jones

The Seahawks got a major value pick taking the Ohio State tackle in the fifth round. Some deemed him too small to play tackle, but the Seahawks are getting a polished blocker from a top tier program. He’ll be able to open a lot of holes for first-round running back Rashaad Penny and be a better option in pass protection than Germain Ifedi. The Seahawks will rely on Penny a lot this year, but he won’t be able to do much without help from Jones.

Los Angeles Rams

Ogbonnia Okoronkwo

The Rams didn’t have many picks, but they used a fifth rounder on the co-Big 12 defensive player of the year. Okoronkwo has the ability to create a lot of pressure off the edge and is a perfect fit for Wade Phillips’ defense.

With Aaron Donald and Ndamukong Suh creating so much havoc on the interior, Okoronkwo will get a lot of one on one opportunities on the edge. The Rams are going to need players to step up at outside linebacker, after trading away Robert Quinn, and they just may have found their next star outside pass rusher.

Arizona Cardinals

Christian Kirk

A speedy, high upside receiver, the Cardinals are going to need him no matter who’s playing quarterback. Kirk produced very well at Texas A&M, and with Larry Fitzgerald going into year 15 in the NFL, the Cardinals need to start preparing for life after number 11.

Kirk could help ease that pain, as he would be able to make an impact right away, and has a lot of time on the practice field to build chemistry with the 10^thoverall pick Josh Rosen. Like Pettis, Kirk also has the ability to help in the return game and should be a home run threat to help a Cardinals offense that was scrounging for points last season after losing David Johnson for the season due to a Week One wrist injury.

Former Washington State quarterback Tyler Hilinski, a 21-year-old who killed himself, has been diagnosed with CTE. Mark Hilinski, Tyler’s father, said that the medical examiner said his 21-year-old son “had the brain of a 65-year-old.”

On Tuesday, January 16, 2018, Hilinski did not show up for practice and was later found in his apartment with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head,. A spokesman for the Pullman Police Department said officers found Hilinski dead at his apartment north of the Washington State University campus around 4:30 p.m.

A rifle and a suicide note were reportedly found next to his body. While Tyler’s parents have not publicly revealed the contents of the note, they say it offered “no explanation, no I love you, no goodbye.”

Following an examination of his brain, Hilinski — a 21-year-old who only appeared in 11 college football games — was diagnosed with Stage 1 CTE.

The family has since started Hilinski’s Hoe Foundation, which is a non-profit organization designed to “promote awareness and education of mental health for student-athletes—making bracelets, coffee mugs, water bottles and dog tags all stamped with 3 and the number for the national suicide prevention hotline.”

First, the Whitman County medical examiner called to say that Tyler’s toxicology report showed no trace of drugs or alcohol. (“That actually made it worse,” Mark says.) The Mayo Clinic’s findings arrived next. Kym read the sentence—“After reviewing the tissue we can confirm that he had the pathology of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE)”—and started to reconsider her entire search.

The diagnosis was Stage 1, the lowest level. But still, Tyler was 21 when he died, he hadn’t played that much in college and for most of his life he manned the most protected of positions. If he had CTE, anyone could. She read that depression was one symptom for Stage 1 and a doctor told her Tyler’s brain looked “like that of a much older, elderly man.”

She didn’t want to blame football—to be clear: she does not blame football—and yet the diagnosis also gave her family its clearest and, in some ways, only known factor in his death. “It helped us to know,” Kelly says, “that a) there was something wrong and b) that he was hurting and we couldn’t understand it. It was, O.K., we have a legitimate why. That’s enough of that.”

Antonina Shevchenko is one of the top women’s mixed martial arts prospects in the flyweight division. On June 25, 2018, Shevchenko received the opportunity to fight for a UFC contract on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series 11. The 33-year-old is the older sister of current UFC standout Valentina Shevchenko.

Prior to making the transition to mixed martial arts, where she currently holds a 3-0 professional record, Antonina was a kickboxing and Muay Thai star. She currently holds the Lion Fight lightweight championship, and the WMC and Phoenix FC World championships. Now, she is trying to make a breakthrough and bring her high-level striking to the UFC’s octagon.

“I fought MMA many years, so it’s not just that I fought Muay Thai and made my transition into MMA,” Shevchenko said in an interview with FloCombat.com.

“I just started to do Muay Thai and I trained and competed in different sports because our coach wanted us to be universal fighters. We competed in MMA, Muay Thai, boxing, Taekwondo, karate, and different styles. When we started to compete in MMA it was 2003, 2004, and 2005 and there were not many girls in the sport at that time. There were more offers to fight in Muay Thai so we fought Muay Thai.

“When Valentina started to fight in the UFC, I was training with her all the same things she had. So I was working on my MMA also.”

Shevchenko faces Jamiee Nievera at DWTNCS where she will look to earn the UFC contract.

Emergency crews responded to a scene near the Georgia State Capitol where a veteran reportedly set himself on fire. Commissioner Mark McDonough with Georgia State Patrol says that a veteran was protesting and set himself on fire with “gasoline and fireworks”.

According to various reports, several loud explosions were heard outside of the Georgia Capitol around 10:30 a.m. local time. A trooper on the scene put out the flames with a fire extinguisher and the reported veteran, who is still unidentified, suffered “severe” burns. The man was reportedly protesting his treatment by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. After he was put out, he was rushed to a local hospital.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations, Georgia State Patrol, and Georgia State Capitol Police all responded to the scene. In addition, K-9s and the bomb squad were used to investigate the scene further.

A number of law enforcement officers were on hand behind her and when they heard the banging noises, they cleared the press conference and began pursuit.

According to the Georgia Dept. of Public Safety, officers then discovered that a veteran had set himself ablaze by using fireworks because he was upset with treatment he was receiving at the VA hospital. The man was taken to an area hospital where his condition is unknown at this time.

Several roads are blocked off around the area as police investigate. They’re asking people to avoid the area, if possible.

A nearby news conference by the Georgia State Police and other agencies about Georgia’s new hands-free law taking place nearby was stopped as the officers participating rushed to the sound of the explosion. The Georgia State Capitol was evacuated after the incident.

At this time, the male veteran remains unidentified, although he is reportedly a 58-year-old from Mabelton, Georgia. No other injuries have been reported at this time.

During Keri Melendez’s professional mixed martial arts debut, Bellator MMA went head-to-head with the UFC, holding Bellator 165 at the SAP Center in San Jose, Calif. While Michael Chandler retained his lightweight title in an instant classic, it was Melendez who really stole the show. Melendez, the wife of former Strikeforce champion and UFC title contender Gilbert Melendez, didn’t need long to make an impact in her mixed martial arts debut, using her impressive striking credentials to earn a devastating knockout win over Sheila Padilla in just 47 seconds.

The win immediately catapults Melendez into the spotlight in the Bellator women’s division and her slick striking will be trouble for anyone she faces.

It will be interesting to see how Melendez continues to develop as she continues her transition from Muay Thai and kickboxing to a well-round mixed martial arts game. Her return to the cage was delayed due to injury.

“I was working through my injury and initially I really wanted to be on the May 12 Bellator card. They had me set up to do that May 12 card and my knee injury was lingering,” she said in an interview with MMA Mania. “I had to call them and let them know, ‘You know what? I can’t confirm this May 12 card and I need to push it back. I would like to push it back for the next card as soon as possible.’ So they were really accommodating and they said, ‘You know we can put you on the next card, but we’re going to put you on the ‘Prelims.’’ I said, ‘That’s fine, I just want to be active and get going, and I’d love to be on the same card as the girl main event.’”

Sophie Cookson is a British actress and model, who is best known for playing secret agent Roxy Morton/Lancelot in Kingsman: The Secret Service and its sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle. She may be best known for her appearances in the two blockbusters, but Cookson has had quite a career outside those films as well.

Cookson was born on May 15th, 1990, in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, England and was also raised in Sussex. She’s been involved in acting and musical theater from a young age, she was a part of a theater troupe which toured Japan. Following this tour, she decided to quit acting to pursue academics, she studied art history and Arabic.

However, this didn’t last long as she quickly caught the acting bug again and picked up where she left off in the performing arts. She would attend the Oxford School of Drama for three years and graduate in 2013. While still in school, she was cast in a British miniseries Moonfleet, playing the part of Grace Mohune. Following that, she would get her big break when she was cast as Roxy in Kingsman: The Secret Service, where she even beat out the better known and established Emma Watson for the part.

After Kingsman, Cookson had roles in The Huntsman: Winter’s War, the Netflix series Gypsy, The Crucifixion, and Pleader. She would again play Roxy in the follow-up film to Kingsman, titled Kingsman: The Golden Circle. She has some more projects in the works and it certainly seems like Cookson has a bright future ahead of her in terms of her acting career and frankly, we can’t wait to see where she goes next.

Zaijuan Hester, who was with Antwon Rose prior to his fatal shooting in East Pittsburgh, has been arrested by the Allegheny County Police. On Tuesday, June 26, the police department announced that they arrested the 17-year-old late Monday night in connection to a drive-by shooting that occurred in North Braddock prior to the police-involved shooting which ended Rose’s life.

Rose and Hester had run from a vehicle as police were handcuffing the driver of the vehicle which matched a description of a vehicle previously connected to the drive-by shooting.

From CBS KDKA 11-Pittsburgh:

Both Hester, and Antwon Rose ran from a jitney after it was pulled over by police officer Michael Rosfeld. Rosfeld shot and killed Antwon Rose but until last night Hester remained at large.

While police did confirm to KDKA’s Andy Sheehan that Hester will be charged in connection with the drive-by shooting in North Braddock, they will not confirm if he will be charged with doing the actual shooting.

Along with being charged in connection to the drive-by shooting, Hester has been charged with a probation violation for filing off an ankle monitoring bracelet. He was arrested in the Hill District along with a 19-year-old woman, who is facing a retail theft charge.

Rosfeld is on paid leave while Allegheny County homicide detectives investigate the death of Rose. Rose, 17, was shot three times and killed after he allegedly ran away from a traffic stop. Rose was a student at Woodland Hills High School last year.

Thomas Kim, 77, has been identified as the man who shot and killed Capt. Dave Rosa, the 45-year-old Fire Department captain in Long Beach, California, on June 24, 2018. Kim killed Rosa in a shooting at his senior housing facility.

Kim was arrested on suspicion of murder, attempted murder, and arson after he intentionally lit a fire at the 11-story Covenant Manor. As firefighters were investigating, Kim shot two of them. Rosa was initially in critical condition and later pronounced dead at St. Mary Medical Center, while the other firefighter, 35-year-old Ernesto Torres, remained in stable condition. Rosa’s body was escorted with full honors from St. Mary to the coroner’s office around 12:20 p.m. PST.

Covenant Manor, the senior housing facility where the fire and shooting took place, hosts 100 one-and-two-bedroom apartments for low-income people who are 62 or older or disabled adults older than 18. Covenant Maor is located in the 600 block of E. 4th Street in the downtown area of Long Beach, California.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s bomb, LAPD, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosive were all on the scene.

Kim, 77, remains in jail on $2 million bond.

Rosa and another firefighter, Ernesto Torres, 35, were struck by gunfire inside the 11-story building as they helped to trace what had triggered the building’s sprinkler system and forced residents to shelter in place, said Jake Heflin, a spokesman for the Long Beach Fire Department. A third person, an elderly man who lives in the building, was also shot and is in stable but critical condition, Luna said.

Rosa and Torres were shot near the unit where the blast occurred, officials said. Both were taken to St. Mary Medical Center. Torres, a 12-year veteran of the agency, was treated and released.

While a weapon was recovered from the scene, authorities say that investigators are still working to put together a “big puzzle”

Rosa, a 17-year fire department veteran, is survived by his wife and two children, aged 16 and 25-years-old.

Michael Bloomberg, 76, will run president in 2020, making him both the oldest and richest person to do so.

A source close to the former three-term mayor says the move is fueled in part by regret that he didn’t stay in the race in 2016, because he feels he could have either won outright or prevented Donald Trump from winning.

Political consultants point out the 76-year-old is making a number of key moves, including spending $80 million to help Democrats win Congressional races and collecting a lot of political IOUs in the process. But, they also say it could be an uphill battle because of his liberal policies.

By the time the 2020 election is held, Bloomberg will be 78-years-old.

Bloomberg was the 108th Mayor of New York City from 2002 to 2013. He famously campaigned to change the city’s term limits law and was elected to his third term in 2009 as an Independent candidate on the Republican ballot line.

Bloomberg is the founder, CEO, and owner of Bloomberg L.P., which is a global financial services, mass media, and software company. He began his career at the securities brokerage Salomon Brothers, before forming his own company in 1981 and spending the next twenty years as its chairman and CEO. Bloomberg also served as chairman of the board of trustees at his alma mater, Johns Hopkins University, from 1996 to 2002.

Gatesville police have confirmed there was an explosion Tuesday afternoon at Coryell Memorial Hospital. Patients and staff are currently being evacuated. The Gatesville Police Department and firefighters responded to the hospital at 1507 West Main St. around 2:30 p.m. local time.

At this time, there are unconfirmed reports of injuries. Ambulances from surrounding communities are assisting. Twelve patients have been evacuated and taken to other hospitals.

Initial reports indicated that the explosion occurred in an area in which the hospital is being expanded, possibly in a boiler room. Other reports suggest that some people are trapped as a result of the explosion. Images from the scene show smoke rising from the building and there are reports of a building collapse.

Power was out in downtown Gatesville and at the Coryell County Courthouse and some traffic lights were dark. Gatesville police would only say the department was dealing with a major emergency and would provide no other details. There was no other information on what might have happened, but it was known some streets were closed and one witness said there was a lot of black smoke visible in the area.

The hospital is in the immediate area and so are two nursing home facilities. Ground was broken in November 2016 for a major renovation and expansion at the hospital.

The 117,000-square foot project includes new operating rooms, a new 25-bed hospital wing, administration offices, a 16-bed rehabilitation facility and a new central plant that houses chillers and boilers.

At this time, the extent of damage or number of injuries has not been reported.

Coryell Memorial Hospital is located at 507 W Main St in Gatesville, Texas. Coryell Memorial Healthcare System provides a range of health services including a 25-bed licensed hospital, Level IV Trauma Center emergency room, more than 30 primary and specialty care providers, an advanced wound care center, outpatient rehabilitation center, skilled nursing facility with long-term care and inpatient rehabilitation, assisted living and independent living apartments.

The ability to phase shift through dimensions will no doubt be valuable technology going forward. Even beyond the outcome of Avengers 4, the Quantum Realm holds boundless possibilities and themes for the MCU to explore.

5. Multiple Villains In Motion

Walter Goggins is locked in the play the role of Sonny Burch, a predecessor of Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, who potentially steps up to run the corporation. This could be another trick of the all-too-famous trailer fake out that Marvel is known to do to mislead viewers as not to reveal too much plot. Lil Miquela has not let the handicap of not being real prevent her from making her name known. It has not prevented her from getting involved in social causes, like the Black Live Matters movement, even asking for donations on her official Instagram campaign. Look, CGI models are just breaking into the industry. We can forgive little liberties here and there, like not having a name! On the official Louis Vuitton Instagram account, a pink-haired “Virtual Heroine” developed by Square Enix for #LVSERIES4 was the product of several artists to be the face of a new narrative. Our pink-haired heroine was the face of the campaign, but there appeared to be a few human models here and there. Of course, you can never tell if people aren’t just CGI models anyway…

On the other hand, there are CGI models out there who are upfront on the whole not being real situation I respect that. The world, or Instagram account, of “CGI Punk” labels itself with the simple tagline that its creator loves CGI. In this world, some models are warriors existing within a science fiction world and some are witches existing within a fantasy world. There are even a few male CGI models on this account, so there’s really something for everybody.

This Instagram artist is based in Sydney, Australia and specializes in custom art. Similar to CGI Punk, there is no attempt to hide being CGI, many of whom also appear to be robots.

New York Giants star Janoris Jenkins’ home was surrounded by the Major Crimes Unit from the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office on Tuesday, June 25, after a dead body was found at his New Jersey home. Jenkins was out of state, reportedly in Florida, and was not home when cops arrived on the scene. There body of a male was found and identified, though not publicly.

“The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Fair Lawn Police Department are investigating a death at 14 Van Saun Place in Fair Lawn,” Acting Prosecutor Dennis Calo said in a statement. “The deceased is not the owner of the residence, but the identity of the male decedent cannot be released until next of kin have been notified.”

We don’t know if cops have identified a suspect or even have a working theory on how the person died.

Sources tell us the body was discovered in the basement by a worker at the house. Law enforcement officers in Bergen County raced to the scene. We’re told the coroner showed up a short time later.

The identity of the victim is unclear — we know investigators are actively working the case.

Police are investigating this as a homicide, according to Dianna Russini of ESPN.

Jenkins’ team is fully aware of the ongoing situation but he has not commented at this time.

The New York Giants are also aware of the development, stating “We are aware of and monitoring the situation.”

According to the New York Post, “local police referred all questions to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office.”

The Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity at Texas Texas University has removed six of their members after racist texts in a GroupMe group chat went viral on social media.

The texts, appearing in a GroupMe group chat called “Frat Chat”, showed texts suggesting that “death” was the “only solution” when it comes to immigration in the United States. Another text read: “I’ve met ranchers that kill illegals and bury them under cattle graves along the border.”

A statement from the national fraternity chapter said that the texts “did not represent what the fraternity stands for.

“After a swift, thorough investigation, Tau Kappa Epsilon and our Omicron-Rho chapter at Texas Tech have removed six members as of Friday, June 22. Their disgusting, hateful language doesn’t align with our values of love, charity and esteem and have no place in TKE,” the statement read.

Texas Tech’s Interfraternity Council also released a full Statement on Twitter:

“Today, on Thursday, June 21, the Texas Tech Interfraternity Council was made aware of a student discussion shared on social media involving a member of the IFC community. The worlds and ideas expressed in these messages do not represent the ideals and value of the IFC and Texas Tech University. this rephrehensible langauge has no place within our organizations, school, or society.

Texas Tech has a roboust and proud community of fraternity and sorority members who exemplify what community should mean. The Messages shared are not a relfection of the spirit and engery that surrounds so much of Greek life at Texas Tech. The Interfraternity Council is committed to making sure that a thorough investigation into these comments is conducted and that those responsible are hend accountable.”

The name of the students who were removed from the fraternity has not been released.
