Red Sox/Yankees: The Rivalry Is Back

Alex Rodriguez vs. Jason Varitek. We probably won’t see anything like that in sports for a very long time, but the greatest rivalry in professional sports is heating up. The Yankees came into the latest series against the Red Sox winners of 15 of their last 16 and took over the best record in the league and the lead in the AL East after taking the first two games from the Red Sox.

Unlike the first series in Boston, this is real Sox/Yankees baseball. Close games with late-inning drama are what baseball fans want to see out of this series. That’s what last night’s game gave us, with Hanley Ramirez’s go-ahead home run in the 7th, and Brett Gardner’s triple to retake the lead in the 8th.

We’ve already seen a brawl this year between these teams, and it doesn’t look like the feud between Joe Kelly, and Tyler Austin is going away anytime soon. Kelly was welcomed to New York by a cascade of boos, after being celebrated in Boston with standing ovations at a Bruins playoff game, and during his first appearance after the fight.

Instagram Photo

Two huge acquisitions have helped reignite the rivalry. For the Red Sox, it was All-Star slugger J.D Martinez, who has proven to be one of the best hitters in all of baseball. Martinez is currently hitting .351 with eight home runs and 27 RBIs and is showing Red Sox fans he was worth every penny. For the Yankees, it was 2017 National League MVP Giancarlo Stanton. After a slow start, Stanton has begun to hit his stride as he’s currently hitting .237 with nine home runs and 22 RBIs.

We haven’t seen a brawl yet in this series, but expect another one by the end of the season. The fight with the Red Sox seemed to light a fire under the Yankees, as they’ve only lost three games since. They definitely still want retaliation, and if a Yankee pitcher, like say Dellin Betances, were to throw at anyone on the Red Sox, there would definitely be fireworks. This is the perfect year for the Sox and Yankees to face in the playoffs, and it definitely would be one of the most memorable playoff series in any sport in recent history.

Finals are wrapping up, the sun is coming out, students are graduating, and parents are saying goodbye to their peace and quiet in the house. Summer is right around the corner and everyone loves a good summer jam. Warm weather, ocean breezes, BBQ’s, the perfect summer needs the perfect music. Turn those speakers up and get ready to dance your way to summer. Here are our top picks for the perfect summer playlist.

“Finesse” (Remix) – Bruno Mars feat. Cardi B

Originally a song released on Bruno Mars’s 2016 album, “24K Malgic”, but a remix was released earlier this year. With Cardi B’s unique voice and Mars’s swagger puts this song at the top of our list. This song will take you back in time to the 90s feeling.

“Never Be the Same” – Camila Cabello

A sexy turn for the summer playlist. Camila Cabello’s song is the one that puts you in a mood of wanting to have an ultimate summer. It’s time to get over the high school and college fling and find our inner Cabello’s.

“Freaky Friday” – Lil Dicky feat. Chris Brown

It’s time for a freaky Friday beat. Turning to our fun and humors summer side. A song that stays in our head the first time we hear it and will never leave until it’s replayed over and over again. It’s a song we love and hate but deserves to be in the top summer playlist for 2018.

“Psycho” – Post Malone feat. Ty Dolla Sign

With Post Malone’s new album release it’s no wonder he has made it to the list. Although we would like to use his whole album as our playlist, “Psycho” gives a low key summer feeling. For those lazy day’s or simply sitting outside getting a nice tan, turn up your volume to this breakout star’s song.

“Friends” – Marshmello feat. Anne-Marie

The perfect upbeat friendzone anthem. Doesn’t matter if you are trying to get a love struck friend at an arms distance, it’s a song that anyone can dance to. For those who are in the friendzone, good luck.

“Call Out My Name” – The Weeknd

For those who are looking to find love you may want to turn away from this song. But, for the other who have lost a love and need a pick me up, this is the song to find your inner self and find good to make the summer end better than how it started. The Weeknd wrote this song inspired about his relationship with Selena Gomez, so even the biggest name’s in the music industry can have a broken heart.

“The Middle” – Zedd feat. Maren Morris

Now, for those who are in a relationship and you have just had a big fight, but you don’t want to say goodbye. Turn this song on and blast it through the house. Make the summer worth wild and meet in the middle. By the end you will forget about what you were fighting about.

“The Champion” – Carrie Underwood feat. Ludacris

It’s not normal for a country star to pair up with a top rapper, but these two have come out with a powerful song. A pump up song for the Super bowl and the 2018 Winter Olympics, this song deserves to be at the top. It isn’t just perfect for a summer playlist but a workout one too. For your summer run or outdoor workout, this energizing song will put you in that fighting mindset to be a champion.

“All the Stars” – Kendrick Lamar and SZA

Originally a song released in the Black Panther soundtrack, it has come to make an independent name for itself. A new side of Kendrick gives off a late night summer vibe. The song stepped out of the movie screen, let’s watch it step into your summer playlist.

“God’s Plan” by Drake

He does it again! Not only did he have the summer 2016 hit, “One Dance”, but he’s up to grab his summer throne for 2018. Back at it again with his, now, seven weeks in a row Billboard Hot 100 on every summer playlist. No playlist would be complete without a Drake song.

David de Gea Net Worth 2018: How Much Is He Worth?

It’s argued that this Spaniard is the best goalkeeper in not just the Premier League, but the world. He’s so good that Real Madrid has been trying to snag him from the league for years. So far the Manchester United goalie has resisted, and United fans couldn’t be happier. Insert huge sigh of relief. Some players might adopt a pompous mindset if they were being sought after by a team like Real, and as it turns out, de Gea is definitely one of them. The goalkeeper has not been shy in acknowledging his skill level. Just last month, de Gea announced this was his best season yet, meanwhile, he said his teammates needed to be more consistent next season if they wanted to win the title. His stats do speak for him though, but what are his stats translated into monetary value. Let’s find out!

David de Gea Net Worth 2018: $17 Million

The 27-year old has a net worth estimated to be around $17 million as of 2018. He currently earns £350,000 per week for Manchester United.

He Wasn’t Always a Goalie

Instagram Photo

Born to wealthy parents on November 7, 1990, in Madrid, Spain, de Gea was a very spoiled child. With his father being a former goalkeeper and de Gea adopting a love for sports at a young age, he became involved with soccer. His parents sent him to one of the best youth academies in Spain, one that was affiliated with Atletico Madrid. Ironically he played every position but goalkeeper. It wasn’t until he was 14, that he switched. The 6 ft 4 player realized his height reduced his speed on the field, and since his father once played as a keeper, de Gea followed suit.

His Unique Entrance Into the Big Leagues

Instagram Photo

At only 17, de Gea was recruited by the Atletico Madrid senior team and signed his first professional contract with them. Following this at 19, during one of his matches for Atletico, Sir Alex Ferguson, the then manager of Manchester United scouted him. Sir Alex Ferguson had only missed one United game prior and it was for his son’s wedding. However, the United manager was certain he wanted de Gea on his team, so he missed his second United match and went instead to de Gea’s. In June 2011, the keeper officially joined Manchester United for £18.9 million.

Awards Galore

Instagram Photo

Ever since he was a child, de Gea has been used to getting trophies. This hasn’t changed. The keeper has seen a significant amount of success during his time so far with United. He’s been selected as goalkeeper for PFA Team of the Year literally five years in a row! On December 2, 2017, he equaled the Premier League’s record for most saves in a single game with 14 saves against Arsenal. De Gea has been the only United player to win the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award and has won the Player’s Player of the Year trophy three times.

This past week he was nominated for the EA Sports Premier League Player of the Season award for 2017/2018. He’s also the expected recipient of the Golden Glove award, which is given to the goalie who has the most clean sheets in a single season. So far, de Gea has 17. Despite the league coming to an end, you’ll still be able to see de Gea during the World Cup. He’ll be playing for Spain’s National Team, which he’s been the keeper for since 2014.

Kristine Leahy rose to stardom thanks to her gig on The Herd with Colin Cowherd. Never one to bite her tongue, Leahy would often challenge Cowherd’s statements and opinions by bringing counter-arguments of her own. Oh, yeah, and she’s beautiful. It’s not hard to understand why Leahy developed the following that she has and now she is set to leave The Herd for a brand new afternoon show that is set to launch on FOX Sports 1.

Leahy’s new show is expected to premiere in the late summer or early fall.

“I’m really excited. I’m going to be having a new show, at the end of the summer beginning of the fall, I’ll be hosting it. But I just think that this is crazy, that this is happening, what we started. I’m going to lose it, I promised I wouldn’t lose my beep on this, but I will,” she said during an on-air announcement about her future. “We started, we were kind of this new thing at FS1, and I remember that lunch that we had together, and you took a huge risk, cause this was your show, you hadn’t had this role before. But now you do, and that was a risk, and I just can’t thank you enough.”

Leahy, who was born in Chicago, Illinois, began her career in sports media with WEEI in Boston after graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism at Boston University. She then took on the position of official reporter for the Boston Celtics’ official website. Leahy then parlayed that gig into a job with FOX Boston, before joining Cowherd’s show to provide a female voice in sports talk radio.

The 31-year-old also serves as a sideline reporter for American Ninja Warrior on NBC.

“I am honored and excited to join the College GameDay and Saturday Night Football teams,” Taylor said in a statement released by ESPN when she accepted the new gig. “I grew up watching ‘(College) GameDay’ and I have always been inspired by the new and innovative ways they entertain and inform college football fans. Cornell Student Strips During Thesis Presentation To Protest Professor

A senior at Cornell University stripped down to her bra and underwear while presenting her thesis to protest her professor saying her clothing was inappropriate the week before.

Letitia Chai said she took the opportunity to stand up against “oppressive beliefs” during her Acting in Public: Performance in Everyday Life class, according to a Facebook Live video of the event.

The demonstration came days after her professor, Rebekah Maggor, questioned whether the denim cutoff shorts Chai was wearing during a test run of the presentation were too short.

Chai made a Facebook post which went viral about the incident, saying she was wearing a blue button down and cutoff jean shorts when her professor questioned her clothing. Her account of the incident was reported by DailyMail:

‘The first thing that the professor said to me was “is that really what you would wear?”‘ Chai said.

‘The professor proceeded to tell me, in front of my whole class, that I was inviting the male gaze away from the content of my presentation and onto my body.

‘She said I was making a statement by wearing my outfit. I told her that I sure as hell wouldn’t change my statement to make her or anyone else feel more comfortable.’

She said her professor later came out of the room and asked her what her mother would think of her clothing. Chai said she responded: ‘My mom is a feminist, gender and sexuality studies professor. She’s fine with my shorts.’

Professor Maggor responded by telling the Cornell Sun, “‘I do not tell my students what to wear, nor do I define for them what constitutes appropriate dress. I ask them to reflect for themselves and make their own decisions.”

Following the reaction to Chai’s Facebook post, 11 of the 14 students in the class issued a joint statement saying her comments didn’t accurately reflect what happened in the room.

via DailyMail

The students said that while Maggor’s comment had an ‘error in phrasing’ the main point was to note ‘the importance of professionalism in certain public speaking situations’.

They said the professor apologized repeatedly for her initial word choice and agreed that the ‘notion of ‘short shorts’ on women carry a lot of cultural and political baggage’.

Jayson Tatum is a small forward in the NBA who plays for the Boston Celtics. He attended Chaminade College Preparatory School in his hometown ofCreve Coeur, Missouri, where he was rated as a five-star recruit and regarded as one of the top players in the Class of 2016. After a one-and-done 2016–2017 season with Duke, Tatum opted to enter the 2017 NBA draft, where he was selected with the third overall pick by the Boston Celtics.

Jayson Tatum Net Worth As Of 2018: $5 Million

In his first year in the NBA, Tatum received a handsome salary of $5.65 million. As part of his contract, he’s expected to make an additional $37.5 million over the next 4 years.

Tatum was born on March 3, 1998, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was raised in Missouri as well and attended Chaminade College Preparatory. As a Freshman, he averaged 13.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, while being named 2013 Metro Catholic Conference Co-Player of the year, and led the Red Devils to both (MCC) and Missouri District 2 crowns.

As a Sophomore in 2014, he averaged 26.0 points, 11.0 rebounds per game. Tatum finished his season at Duke with 16.8 points and 7.3 rebounds per game.

2017-Present

In a controversial move, Boston Celtics general manager Danny Ainge dealt away the team’s #1 pick in the 2017 NBA draft to the Philadelphia 76ers in the hopes that the player he actually wanted, Tatum, would still be on the board with the #3 pick he received in return. Luckily for him and the Celtics nation, Tatum was still there come the third pick and he was picked up by Boston. Tatum had an extremely impressive rookie year, posting an average of 13.9 points and 5 rebounds per game while shooting 47.5% from the field.

A bomb threat at West Milwaukee Intermediate School has caused classes to be cancelled for the day. School administration made the decision to cancel classes for the day. The school is now being searched as part of the investigation.

Police said they received a report about a threat around 6:00 a.m. at the school near 51st Street and Greenfield Avenue.

West Milwaukee Intermediate School is located at 5104 W Greenfield Ave in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The bomb threat at West Milwaukee Intermediate School is just the latest in a string of threats, lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States.

Over the course of the past few years, shootings such as these have been a scourge upon the country and people have struggled with coming up with a solution. Lockdowns have become all too common as a means of protection when students and faculty are in danger and today is no different.

This lockdown follows incidents at Dodd Middle School in Connecticut, Windham Public Schools also in Connecticut, Pacoima Middle School in Los Angeles, Millennium Middle School in Florida, and US Grant High School in Oklahoma, which are just some of the places where events such as this have occurred.

What are officials saying?

According to The Daytona Beach News-Journal, the unidentified man behind the threat was said to be in police custody; it was also noted that he was stunned with a Taser during the incident as he attempted to crawl into the baggage conveyor belt’s opening space. A scary situation took place this week in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil ahead of UFC 224, according to UFC president Dana White. While the Ultimate Fighting Championship was preparing for this weekend’s pay-per-view at Jeunesse Arena, a group of UFC employees and others were reportedly robbed at gunpoint. Per ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, the armed robbery led to employees losing their passports, credit cards, and other valuables.

“Just spoke to UFC president Dana White about an incident that is apparently ongoing right now in Brazil. White was just told several employees and others associated with UFC 224 were held up at gunpoint near the host hotel in Rio. No one hurt. Police involved now,” Okamoto wrote on Twitter.

He continued, “Some UFC employees definitely involved. Have not heard of any fighters involved as of right now (weigh-in is tomorrow morning). Those affected are canceling stolen passports and credit cards. White told me security footage is being pulled. My thoughts are with all UFC staff and anyone else affected by the incident in Brazil tonight. Away from their families, there to do a job. The few details I’ve gathered are scary. Armed robbery on the beach, near hotel.”

UFC 224 takes place Saturday night.

In the main event, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes is set to defend her title against Raquel Pennington. The co-main event features a middleweight bout between top contender Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Kelvin Gastelum.

Carpenter is the niece of Nancy Cartwright, who is best known for her role as the voice of Bart Simpson. She also voices Todd Flanders, Nelson Muntz, Ralph Wiggum, and more.

Carpenter draws her inspiration from some icons in the music industry.

“My parents introduced me to a lot of the classics growing up. My dad introduced me to the Beatles and Rush (his favorite band) and my mum introduced me to Patsy Cline, Etta James, Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, and then I found Christina Aguilera and it was all over from there,” she said in an interview with MTV UK. “I fell in love with all sorts of music, every genre almost. Celtics & 76ers: The Future of the League’s Oldest Rivalry

By way of the Philadelphia 76ers, the Boston Celtics officially advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals on Wednesday, May 9. There, they’ll encounter LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers; whatever their fate, the C’s have already written the next chapter of an NBA epic. Boston and Philly, who flaunt a chronicle spanning decades, have developed into the contemporary Eastern Conference rivals of the future. These two teams and cities have much to look forward to, and the NBA is better for it.

A Rich History

Instagram Photo

The Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers lay claim to one of the richest modern sports rivalries, but the Celtics enjoy an even deeper history with their Atlantic Division neighbors to the southwest. Dating back to 1954, when the 76ers were incarnated as the Syracuse Nationals, these two storied franchises have now met in the postseason 20 times. Those Nationals defeated the Celtics in three straight postseason series, right up until 1956–Bill Russell’s draft year. With the addition of Russell and K.C. Jones, the Celtics avenged those losses and defeated the Nationals in three subsequent playoff meetings through 1961.

The Nationals were sold and moved to Philadelphia in 1963, where they’d adopt the 76ers moniker. Two years later, Philadelphia traded for Wilt Chamberlain, and the Sixers officially embarked on a mission to end the NBA’s longest-ever dynasty. The Celtics, who’d won six straight NBA titles to that point, would continue winning at the highest level until 1967. By then, Russell–that season’s MVP runner-up to Chamberlain–had replaced Red Auerbach as the Celtics’ head coach. The Sixers defeated the Celtics 4-1 in the Eastern Conference Finals that year, and proceeded to knock out the San Francisco Warriors en route to the championship. But beating Boston was, in itself, a champion-caliber achievement–for the first time in nine years, a non-Celtics team could enjoy the spoils of victory. It was only fitting that it was the 76ers, who’d been hot on their heels for for more than a decade.

The Celtics would avenge their loss and defeat the 76ers in 1968 and 1969, completing their 11-titles-in-13 years conquest, ultimately pushing Chamberlain to the Lakers. The teams would not meet again until 1977. That year marked Julius Erving’s first NBA season, and he polished it off by eliminating the Celtics from the Eastern Conference Semifinals in a classic seven-gamer before falling to Portland in the Finals.

The teams faced off three years later in Larry Bird’s rookie season; the Sixers nabbed the conference title that year, but fell in the 1980 Finals to 21-year-old Magic Johnson. Into the early ’80s, Maurice Cheeks, Moses Malone, Kevin McHale, and Robert Parish entered the fray of the rivalry–even Charles Barkley made a cameo as a rookie, and he may or may not have held back Larry Legend so Dr. J could clock him in a regular season contest. Philly and Boston exchanged blows in the Conference Finals in ’81, ’82, and ’85, but once the Celtics pulled out a 4-1 performance in the 1985 Conference Finals, this seminal clash of titans was put on hold until after the turn of the century.

Allen Iverson and Paul Pierce have places in this history too. Their millennial manifestations of the 76ers and Celtics faced off in a competitive first-round series in 2002, from which the Celtics emerged victorious. Boston stormed into the Conference Finals that year where they ultimately fell to the New Jersey Nets.

Ten years later, a young Sixers squad headlined by Andre Iguodala, Jrue Holiday, and Evan Turner took on Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Rajon Rondo in the 2012 Conference Semifinals. The 8-seed 76ers, coming off a massive upset of the 1-seed Bulls (featuring Derrick Rose’s inaugural ACL tear), pushed the 4-seed Celtics to seven games before a classic TD Garden elimination game. The Celtics advanced to the Conference Finals, where they fell to LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and the Miami Heat. This marked the Sixers’ final competitive season before the advent of The Process.

A New Era

Instagram Photo

Today, the 76ers and the Celtics are positioned to dominate the Eastern Conference well into the 2020s. While Boston has the upper hand today, we must remember that Philadelphia only just closed out its first full season featuring generational talents Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. After four years of painful but strategic losing, the Sixers enjoyed their winningest season since 2000-01–when Larry Brown was Coach of the Year, Dikembe Mutombo was Defensive Player of the Year, and Iverson was the MVP who carried the team to an NBA Finals appearance.

Instagram Photo

Embiid is turning into one of the most dominant, unguardable superstars the league has seen since Shaq. Simmons has put together one of the most remarkable, complete (albeit redshirted) rookie campaigns since LeBron. This tandem is equal parts promising and terrifying: they have big-time free agents on alert, and the rest of the league on notice. But they have a lot to work on. This isn’t controversial–they’re 24 and 21 years old, and are still learning how to win after an exhausting four combined years of watching the Sixers lose from the sideline.

The 76ers’ late-game execution (or lack thereof) in Games 4 and 5 against the Celtics was just a reminder that they have years of learning ahead of them. While their year ended in relative disappointment, the season as a whole was monumental. Embiid became the team’s first All-Star since Holiday in 2013, and Simmons will likely be crowned Rookie of the Year. The duo and the crew around them–including a do-it-all, under-the-radar talent like Dario Šarić, and ballasting vets in Marco Belinelli, Ersan Ilyasova, J.J. Redick, and Amir Johnson–far exceeded expectations. Leading the Sixers to 52 wins and the third seed in the East, Embiid and Simmons made an absolute mockery of preseason projections that had them missing the playoffs entirely.

Instagram Photo

Philadelphia carried a monstrous 16-game winning streak into the 2018 Playoffs. Combine this with their 4-1 defeat of the Miami Heat in the first round, and the narrative opened up: could The Process be headed to the NBA Finals already? This distracted hypothesis and others like it neglected to account not just for LeBron James, but for the miracle workers in Boston too. The Celtics have been engaged in a process of their own–one dramatically less blatant, but nevertheless effective.

Instagram Photo

The Celtics are about to compete in their second consecutive Eastern Conference Finals, but with an almost entirely different team from their 2017 campaign. Save Al Horford, Marcus Smart, Terry Rozier, and Jaylen Brown, the remainder of the roster was flipped and dipped in youth to make room for marquee offseason acquisitions Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward. If you can hardly remember Isaiah Thomas, Avery Bradley, and Jae Crowder, credit Danny Ainge–but also pray that the GM of your favorite team refuses to do business with him.

Instagram Photo

With Irving and Hayward out with season-ending injuries, the young Celtics have done outstanding work to advance as far as they have this postseason. Atoning for an up-and-down first-round series against Milwaukee, Jayson Tatum went on a scoring tear against Philly, one unlike any Celtics rookie has embarked on since Bird. Brown has put up multiple 30-point games and is fighting through a lingering hamstring injury to do his part and keep his team alive. Rozier, in addition to his post as the NBA’s resident meme lord, has truly become New England’s darling by filling Kyrie’s shoes, socks, shorts, and everything else. And Smart? After more than a month of inaction due to injury, he returned to play in Game 5 of the first round; it wouldn’t be an overstatement to credit him with (at least partially) swinging that series in Boston’s favor. Anchored by Al Horford, these guys–all age 24 or under–are stunning the league, making themselves household names, and rearranging the NBA hierarchy all at once.

Instagram Photo

Tatum, Brown, Rozier, and Smart, Boston’s four first-round picks over the last four years, have had to grow up quickly. High draft picks chosen by winning teams take on vastly different responsibilities than those who end up in, say, Phoenix or Orlando. The pressure of performing well and contributing to champion-style culture is high, bordering on extra for these baby Celtics. With the team’s makeup in almost constant flux throughout 2017-18, they’ve handled the demand incredibly well and have peaked at the perfect moment.

Instagram Photo

Philly and Boston are in positions of enormous privilege. Without naming names, the Sixers have the cap room flexibility to attract any one of several superstar free agents this summer. The Celtics will regain two established All-Stars in Irving and Hayward, and they still have some finessed future draft picks to boot. By the time these teams meet again, they could look massively different, yet be capable of so much more than we’ve seen in 2018.

Instagram Photo

There is an immediacy of unanswered questions for these teams. The fate of Markelle Fultz, Philly’s No. 1 pick of the 2017 Draft, remains a mystery. The irony of Jayson Tatum essentially being traded for Fultz could have years-long ramifications if Markelle ultimately doesn’t fit with Embiid and Simmons. Meanwhile, how will Brad Stevens reconcile replacing Rozier with Irving and Tatum with Hayward? Scary Terry hasn’t just made a name for himself this past month–he’s made bank. When he hits free agency in 2019, a handful of GMs will be happy to send him a Brink’s truck, but Danny Ainge may not be one of them.

Whatever the future holds, it’ll be worth it. Pick your bandwagon now.

Police responding to call of “active shooter” at Highland High School in Antelope Valley, California. The school is currently on lockdown. The school is on lockdown and students are currently sheltering in place. At this time, at least one person has suffered a gunshot wound, according to authorities.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed deputies are at Highland High School and that a shooter was reported. Authorities reportedly received “multiple” 911 calls about a man with a gun. The LAPD says the investigation began after shots were fired on campus around 7 a.m. PST.

At this time, no one is in custody and no injuries or fatalities have been reported. According to NBC LA, details regarding possible injuries were not immediately available, but firefighter-paramedics have responded to the school in the community north of Los Angeles. Furthermore, they received a report of an individual with a gunshot wound.

Deputies from the Los Angeles Police Department are being sent to every school in the area as a precaution.

Highland High School is located in Palmdale, California and is part of the Antelope Valley Union High School District. About 4,000 students attend Highland High School in grades 9 through 12. The school is about one mile north of Los Angeles. Palmdale has a population of approximately 150,000 people.

The reports of an active shooter at Highland High School is just the latest in a string of threats, lockdowns, bomb threats, and shootings that have plagued the United States.

Over the course of the past few years, shootings such as these have been a scourge upon the country and people have struggled with coming up with a solution. Lockdowns have become all too common as a means of protection when students and faculty are in danger and today is no different.

This incident follows similar incidents at Dodd Middle School in Connecticut, Windham Public Schools also in Connecticut, Pacoima Middle School in Los Angeles, Millennium Middle School in Florida, and US Grant High School in Oklahoma, which are just some of the places where events such as this have occurred.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returns to pay-per-view this weekend with UFC 224: Nunes v. Pennington. Jacqueline Ades: Full Story & Must-See Details Of ‘Phoenix Stalker’

Lady, you’re scaring us!

A woman in Arizona, Jacqueline Ades, was arrested in Arizona after it was discovered she sent 65,000 texts, an average of 500 per day, to a man that she went on one date with. This occurred over the course of 4 and a half months. One second you’re swiping right on Tinder, the next you have a crazy lady threatening to kill you as a way of showing you how much she cares about you. Ain’t love grand folks?

The victim contacted police after seeing Ades in his house on home security camera footage while he was out of the country. When police arrived, they found Ades taking a bath in the house, oh, and with a butcher knife in the passenger seat of her car. Following her arrest, she failed to report for her court date, and she continued to send the victim texts and stalk him. Some of the texts read: “U do whatever u have to do to get here… but don’t ever try to leave me… I’ll kill you,” and “Oh what would I do w ur blood! I’d wanna bathe in it.” Other gems included “I hope you die… you rotten filthy Jew”, I’m like the new Hitler… man was a genius,” and “I’d wear your fascia ‘n the top of your skull ‘n your hands ‘n feet.”

I could be wrong, but I think that’s Shakespeare right?

She was arrested and booked on charges of threatening, stalking, harassment and failure to appear charges. When being questioned by police, Ades simply said that she loved the victim and didn’t want him to leave her, despite his repeated attempts to show her he wasn’t interested.

To quote the wise George Costanza, “I know less about women, than anyone in the world.” But even I know that sending 500 text messages to a guy that you went on one date with is pushing the boundaries a bit.
