A fire broke out at the Peru Mall, which is located in Peru, Illinois, believed to have been caused by a broken light fixture. According to reports, the mall is believed to have been evacuated with police and firefighters both at the scene. During early reports of the story, it was unconfirmed if there had been any injuries or deaths related to the incident.

On Twitter, Brent Bader, a news reporter for The Times newspaper in Ottawa and Streator, Illinois, also gave the following updates:
“Fire trucks are on scene at Peru Mall for a light fixture on fire. Scanner traffic says the fire is out, smoke present. Mall has been evacuated.”
“Fire department is rolling up hoses outside the mall.”
“It would appear a door was broken to get hoses into the building. Firetrucks are preparing to leave.”
What are officials saying?
According to My Web Times, Peru Deputy Fire Chief Jim Duncan confirmed that dry chemicals from fire extinguishers made smoke in the area seem much more threatening than it had actually been; he also confirmed that mall officials were able to quickly contain the fire with the use of extinguishers. Duncan also issued the following statements:
“There really wasn’t much of a fire.”
“It wasn’t a huge fire, but we didn’t know that until we were on scene.”
While final damages are unknown at this time, with early estimates saying the fixture that cause the fire needing to be fixed, mall operations are expected to resume later this Sunday.

Two boys, said to be around 12 and 15 years of age, have been shot on a high street in broad daylight in north-west London, both being close to High Street, Wealdstone. With both victims being treated at local hospitals, Scotland Yard said they were unsure of their conditions during early reports of the story. Although the two shootings happened in separate, albeit nearby, locations, police are investigating if the two shootings were linked.
What happened?
According to Daily Mail, Wealdstone High Street and Palmerston Road were closed as a result of the shooting, with police urging people to avoid the area. At this time, there have been no arrests made relating to the incident and no firearms were recovered. According to Mirror, traffic eventually reopened on High Street.
The two boys who were shot were also not identified in early reports of the story. According to Daily Mail, neither of the shootings were believed to be fatal.

Many local people gave their accounts of the shootings. According to Mirror, one person, identified as Cemalettin SimSek, issued the following statement:
“I didn’t see anything to do with the shooting because I was working but then at around 1.30pm I saw loads of police appear in the High Street, too many of them.”
“There were about five or six ambulances that arrived too – I have no idea what happened.”
Another person, Ajay Ramesh Vaghela, identified as a bystander, issued the following statement:
“It’s just a small section of the road that’s closed by police by Specsavers. I was going to the gym and saw the police cars there.
“It looks like it’s closed at the top of Palmerston Road, but people are walking up and down Wealdstone High Street as normal. I asked police what happened and they said they’d been reports of a shooting.”
It was noted by Daily Mail that the shooting took place the day after a 17-year-old boy, identified as Rhyhiem Ainsworth Barton, was shot dead, also during broad daylight, as the Sunday shooting has been, near his home in Southwark on Saturday.

The fallout from WWE’s biggest event of the year, Wrestlemania 34, starts to boil over on May 6th at Backlash. The WWE returns to North America at the Bell Centre in Montreal after a major event in the form of The Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The Greatest Royal Rumble was a huge undertaking but it was more of a one-off, Backlash is where we are going to truly see some things settled, and somethings just begin.
We have familiar foes facing off against each other for Championship glory. Seth Rollins honors The Miz’s rematch clause and the A-Lister hopes to regain the title he helped bring back to prominence. Nia Jax goes one on one with ex-best friend Alexa Bliss, only this time The Irresistible Force walks in as the Champion as little Miss Bliss has to overcome major odds to try and regain her title. Our final rematch comes in the form of AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura. The Phenomenal One looks to retain his WWE Championship for a third straight time against the man who seems to love nothing more than punch him in the family jewels…
We also have some new competitors going face to face. Charlotte Flair looks to regain her championship after Carmella successfully cashed in the first ever Women’s Money in the Bank briefcase. Carmella hasn’t had a ton of solo experience and she goes up against arguably the best Woman in the business on May 6th, but she’s athletic and she’s a hard worker so it could be epic. Big Cass faces off against The Yes Man himself Daniel Bryan. Cass has made it clear he doesn’t like the attention that Bryan has been receiving and looks to put an end to Bryan’s momentum.
Samoa Joe also finally gets to get in the ring again with Roman Reigns. Joe has been putting out stellar promos at the expense of The Big Dog, taking shots at his inability to defeat Brock Lensar. It’s likely that this is a one-off match since both men will be returning to opposite brands afterward, so look for them both to put everything into this one. For all the hate he gets from fans, Reigns puts on great matches and Samoa Joe is always solid.

Jurnee, whose full name is Jurnee Sianei, wasted no time emerging as one of the standout talents on the “American Idol reboot airing on ABC. She wowed judges with Andra Day’s “Rise Up” during her audition, before continuing to shine throughout Hollywood week. Jurnee reached the Top 24 and easily made her way through to the Top 7 which kicks off on Sunday, May 6.
In the Top 24, Jurnee sang Jessie J’s “Flashlight and performed a duet with Lea Michele singing, “Run To You.” After advancing to the Top 14 Jurnee performed Jessie J, Ariana Grande, and Nicki Minaj’s “Bang Bang,” but that was not enough to reach the Top 10 until the judges put her through following the performance of “Never Enough” from The Greatest Showman.

Coming hot off the heels of their massive 50-Man Royal Rumble event at The Greatest Royal Rumble WWE refocuses their effort on their first brand unified PPV since the brand split nearly two years ago.
There are a lot of questions to answer at Backlash 2018. A new feud between Big Cass and Daniel Bryan will come to blows as a familiar fight between red-hot promo maker Samoa Joe and The Big Dog Roman Reigns will be settled. Seth Rollins looks to continue his run as a fighting Intercontinental Champion and takes on one of the most storied Intercontinental Champions of all time, The Miz. Rollins came out fast and strong against the A-Lister, but The Miz proved to be no pushover for The Architect. The two superstars put on a clinic of hard hits and high flying spots. The match was technically superb, but Rollins energy proved too much for The Miz as he defeats the host of Miz TV. Rollins retains in an incredibly solid match.

The Goddess looks to get her title back the Irresistable Force in this singles match. Alexa Bliss showed a surprising amount of gumption to start the match. She went at Jax fast but Jax immediately showed her why that could be a bad idea, displaying her sheer power. Bliss got an impressive amount of offense in but Jax proved to be a tough nut to crack as she came back to throw Bliss around the ring with ease. Jax took a tumble over the top rope that caused Bliss to have to find a way to get the more daunting woman back in the ring, when she did she found an uphill battle. Bliss continued to rain down damage on Jax until Jax caught her midair and put her down to get the pin and retain the Raw Women’s Title.

Carmella is a red hot wrestler with a whole lot of attitude. She currently competes on WWE SmackDown Live as the reigning and defending Women’s Champion of the brand. When she’s not talking trash on the mic, she’s kicking butt in the ring on Tuesday (and occasionally Sunday) nights.
“The Princess of Staten Island” Carmella originally caught the eye of the WWE Universe as the manager of Enzo and Cass over on NXT. ‘Mella stayed with this team from 2013 until 2015. She left the group because of a desire to achieve success as a singles competitor. And while Enzo and Big Cass made they way over to Monday Night Raw in April 2016, Carmella honed her skills in NXT before moving onto SmackDown Live during the 2016 WWE Draft.
The charismatic Carmella found plenty of success over on the blue brand. She aligned herself with the chinless James Ellsworth, who greatly assisted “The Princess” in winning the first-ever women’s Money In The Bank match in 2017. She later dumped Ellsworth, but held onto the MITB briefcase much longer (287 days to be exact). She eventually cashed-in her championship opportunity on April 10, 2018, against a visibly hurt Charlotte Flair.
At WWE Backlash 2018, “The Queen” Charlotte Flair will have an opportunity to reclaim the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship. Can “The Princess” conquer “The Queen”? If Carmella loses this Sunday, her reign would become one of the shortest in the title’s history. Hopefully, that won’t be the case.

Houston Community College’s Central College campus will be closed this upcoming Monday over a shooting threat. According to reports, the school faced threats on social media, instigating the shutdown, as the school confirmed in a press release statement issued out to students. The school is also asking people with information to contact their police department.

According to ABC 13, the school issued the following statement:
“Houston Community College will close its Central College campus at 1300 Holman Street tomorrow due to a shooting threat made on social media this weekend. HCC takes all matters with implications for the security of its students, faculty and staff seriously. HCC and its police department are actively working with other law enforcement agencies to identify the source of the threat in an effort to eliminate the risk of harm. HCC will provide additional security at each of its other campuses while this matter is under investigation. If you are aware of any information that would be helpful, please contact HCC PD at 713-718-8888. All updates will be available on our website, http://www.hccs.edu.”
On Twitter, the Houston Community College System also explained that exams that were scheduled on Monday will now be rescheduled:
“ALERT: The HCC Central Campus, located at 1300 Holman Street, will be closed Monday, May 7 due to a safety threat. All course finals that were scheduled at the Central Campus for Monday, May 7 have been rescheduled for Friday, May 11. Check http://hccs.edu for updates.”
The school’s police department is asking for people with information to contact them
According to ABC 13, the threat was said to be a “shooting” threat in the press release, claiming that it had been made over social media, although more specific information about the threats were not elaborated on.

The first 10 minutes are weird, no other way to put it. A woman guest shoots a fellow poacher before they get down and dirty to make sure he’s not a host (it was a blank, relax)… still, that’s next level kinky. The whole predator/prey narrative soon reveals itself to be a new story within the park. This safari poaching tale that goes horribly wrong — as all things do for park visitors this season, regardless of the chosen attraction they place themselves in. Shockingly, the woman ends up getting knocked off a cliff by a tiger while the other guests/poachers get slaughtered by hosts. Karma’s a bitch, people.

Guests are being rounded up like cattle and hung, shot, or slaughtered for the satisfaction of our hosts. Dolorous (this week going by Wyatt) is at the head of the army, leading all those outlaw savages, the once homely farm girl now commands an army.
Among the lot of hosts rounded up by Dolorous/Wyatt’s army, she sees her once host-father, Peter Abernathy. Also among the group is poor Bernard whom was left behind by Charlotte in a meager means of escaping an ambush. Abernathy remembers his daughter. Perhaps a program glitch in his memory, but it was a precious and fleeting father-daughter moment nonetheless. A simple callback that reminds us how peaceful the park was once before the hosts overcame their makers.
Westworld is at it’s best when it draws us in with the human aspects of the park and the subtleties of the narratives, not the broader landscape.

While Bernard was rounded up, Dolorous/Wyatt asks Bernard to help her repair her father. Before any repairs happen, there’s more damage to discuss. Dolorous tells Bernard her end goal is to dominate this world. “There is beauty in what we are,” she tells him. She whole-heartedly believes the hosts are meant to inherit not only Westworld, but the world as well.
While inspecting Peter Abernathy, Bernard tells Dolorous there is a key inside her father and as long as he’s with her, they will find her… to which she replies “let them come.” Remember, this is the very key he and Charlotte Hale implanted Abernathy with to track the hosts… Bernard allowing himself to get captured, all to tell Dolorous this extremely sensitive information to keep her out of enemy hands, it seems the internal conflict within him is growing stronger by the minute.

Maeve continues her journey in the park with her own set of allies (or hostages) to locate her daughter. The trio unfortunately runs into a group of savage natives who, from past memories, tormented Maeve when she was a simple mother-host and not the queen of the brothel we all grew to love.
Sizemore, the narrative writing captive of Maeve and Hector, is still trying to wrap his mind around how all the hosts can operate this strongly off-script. They defy everything he programed them to be and yet are capable of more than he can imagine. Trekking back to base, they find Phillip the all-too-eager Delos employee that helped Maeve become self-aware. They build up their numbers with more staff to add to her allied/captive forces and keep on the move.
As a literal war wages inside the park between the hosts and their makers, many go down fighting. Abernathy gets seized and brought back to Charlotte and Delos, but Dolorous sees this and sends a group to retrieve him. Poor Bernard is found in the aftermath, not really belonging to either side, he simply gets knocked out in the chaos. Time will tell which side he lands on. Teddy fails to execute the hosts Dolorous orders him to, which I’m sure will come back to bite them in the ass, and she heads to Sweetwater… one can only guess what she needs there.

While the group stabs poor dead Nick’s brain and covers him over a sheet to bring somewhere to bury, this week started off ominous as hell. No dice, the Vultures want it for themselves, no extra mouths to feed.
Nick and Luciana bring a book back to Madison with the location of a far out place they found on a map that could prove to be a one-stop-shop for seeds, supplies, everything they need to build the stadium back up and provide for the community. Everyone seems wildly optimistic and cheerful at the prospect of salvation so you know things are going downhill from here.
The First Mistake

Luciana and Strand tell Althea this could all have been avoided… as we flashback to life inside the diamond when Nick was still alive and the Vultures were still parked outside the gates. Madison has mapped out locations that may not have been touched where they could find food. That, they tell her, was their first mistake.
Luciana recounts how she and Nick took point scoping out a library. He tells her that people need books, they need more than food to keep them going. She can tell he was looking for something to give the young girl Charlie, his would-be assassin, and that despite his heart being in the right place, Luciana tells Nick she made her choice. Moral of the story, sometimes it’s okay to take no for an answer.

Naomi and Alicia were scouting a local amusement park that appears to have been lived in at one point before the fences fell. It wouldn’t be Fear The Walking Dead without looming walkers hiding behind every ride and slide inside the park. The only thing worse than band-aids in public pools — bloated walkers. While they make it through the water floaters, Alicia loses her knife, but they make it to the other side.
The two reach the top of the water slide in hopes of finding food and supplies but a walker ambushes them and they fall right down another slide of terror into a pile of hungry water walkers. After Alicia saves her ass, Naomi takes off without so much as a farewell. Too bad her getaway car stalled and Alicia tells her if she really wants to leave, it’s okay. However, Naomi comes back to the diamond with Alicia and offers her services as a nurse. They all choose to try.
As it turns out, John Dorie used to be a police officer. He talks to Morgan, trying to persuade him to stay after the dust settles on this ordeal, but Morgan tells him he’s just better on his own. By choosing to stay at the stadium, the community clearly fell apart. If only had they acted selfishly, as they always had done, in their minds Nick would still be alive.
As the group unearths their hidden guns and bury Nick, John discovers the woman he’s been searching for is in fact Naomi aka Laura. Alicia tells him that she’s dead, she didn’t make it out of the stadium, but John is a man of hope. He found her gun in the pile… maybe he can find her, too.

Students at the University of Florida were excited to receive their diplomas this weekend, but the celebration turned sour and the university is under fire after an unnamed white UF official was caught on video pulling black students off of the stage as they were celebrating their achievement.
Multiple videos surfaced online of the unnamed man pulling the students as soon as they began celebrating their big moment, with many viewers calling for the man to be identified and fired.
“Somebody please find out this employee’s name,” one Twitter user wrote. “Every time a Black student took more than TWO seconds, he aggressively pushed them. Watch it for yourself.”

The practice has been halted for all future ceremonies, and we will work to make sure all graduating students know we are proud of their achievements and celebrate with them their graduation.”
Another official university statement read, “The University is proud of the achievements of every single one of our graduates and regrets that any celebration of the day may have been diminished by those monitoring a graduation ceremony.”

Zazie Beetz is a German-American actress and model. She is most well known for playing Vanessa on the FX series Atlanta. Vanessa is the on and off girlfriend of Donald Glover’s character Earn. In addition to playing Vanessa, Beetz was recently cast as Domino in Deadpool 2, a role that is sure to put her more in the public eye and give her more widespread recognition.
Beetz was born in Berlin, Germany, the daughter of a German cabinet maker and an African-American social worker. She would, however, be raised and grow up in Uptown Manhattan. She holds dual German and American citizenship and is fluent in both German and English.
She acted from a very young age, performing in community theater productions across New York. She attended Muscota New School, the Harlem School of the Arts and LaGuardia Arts High school. After graduation, she went on to enroll at Skidmore College where she studied French.
Beetz began her acting career by appearing in short films and also taking on supporting roles in smaller productions. Her true breakthrough role came when she was cast as Vanessa on Atlanta. Playing the on and off again girlfriend of the main character Earn (Donald Glover), she was an essential character in her own right. Atlanta has earned widespread critical acclaim, and Beetz has been a primary reason why.
Her next big role is as Domino in the sequel to Deadpool, entitled, you guessed it, Deadpool 2. Domino is a mercenary that holds the power to manipulate luck, an ability that is sure to come in handy on her missions.
Between her acting ability and her being incredibly beautiful, don’t be surprised if Beetz isn’t a household name very soon.
Sometimes — rarely, but it happens — there are stories that remind us that all hope is not lost, that humanity can still be decent and pure. The story of 4-year-old Austin Perine — better known as President Austin — is definitely one of them.
Meet Austin Perine, a 4-year-old boy from Birmingham, Alabama, with the wildly admirable goal of feeding the homeless. But not only does Perine feed the homeless — he does so with undeniable flair as he turns into the caped superhero “President Austin” in order to carry out his mission.
Once a week, Austin and his father TJ Perine use the money that used to go to Austin’s toys or allowance to buy chicken sandwichs and soda to feed the city’s homeless. But how did a child not even old enough for kindergarten become inspired to help end hunger? Well, pandas.
According to CBS News, Austin’s desire to “do the right thing” began when he and his father were watching a TV show about pandas that a mama panda abandoning a baby. After TJ explained to his son that the panda cub was now homeless, Austin only had one question: “Are people homeless?”
Since then, Austin asked his parents to use his toy and allowance money on chicken sandwiches for the homeless instead.

TJ says this all began when they were watching a TV show about pandas. It showed a mama panda abandoning a baby, and TJ told his son the cub was now homeless.
“He says, ‘What’s homeless?’ I said, ‘It’s when you don’t have a home and sometimes you don’t have mom or dad around,'” said TJ. That’s when Austin asked: are people homeless?
Once Austin learned some people are homeless — and some are hungry — he launched this caped crusade. Told his mom and dad that he wanted all his allowance and money they would spend on toys to go toward chicken sandwiches instead. After he gives out each sandwich, he gives each person a bit of advice. “Don’t forget to show love,” he tells them, and most do, immediately.
Raymont Baugh says this kid gives him hope. Everyone who meets Austin leaves with hope. That’s why, with any luck, someday “President Austin” won’t be a superhero anymore, he’ll just be a president.

Mackenzie Dern is arguably the most exciting women’s mixed martial arts prospect since Ronda Rousey, and the jiu-jitsu ace will be looking to continue her undefeated reign as she prepares for her sophomore appearance inside of the Octagon at UFC 224 on Saturday, May 12. The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blackbelt and multiple time world champion will take on Amanda Bobby Cooper at Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Dern currently carries a perfect 6-0 record.
The 24-year-old is the daughter of Wellington “Megaton” Dias, who is a highly-regarded grappler. Her father and stepmother, Luciana Tavares, who is also a black belt, began training Dern when she was just three-years-old. She was previously ranked the No. 1 IBJJF competitor in the world.
Dern won the Jiu-Jitsu World Championship in 2015 and 2016, while also claiming the Pan Jiu Jitsu championship and World Cup gold in the same years. She previously won the ADCC Submission Wrestling World Championship and Nogi World Jiu-Jitsu Championship when she was at the peak of her career on the mat.
In her UFC debut, Dern earned a split decision victory over Ashley Yoder. It was the second time in her career that a fight when to the judge’s scorecards, with the other four wins coming by way of submission.
She proved early in her career that her grappling transitions to MMA with an incredible Imanari choke submission which she had previously used to win the World Championships.
Officials have evacuated an area, including residential buildings, in central Oxford amid reports of gunfire, with Thames Valley Police already shutting down the nearby Paradise Street and Castle Street. According to reports, there were reports of at least five gunshots being heard in the area. In light of the news, both police and local emergency services have issued updates on the ongoing story on social media.

On social media, local bus companies confirmed they would be unable to help the area; on Twitter, the Oxford Bus Company issued the following statement:
“Due to the closure of Castle Street we are currently unable to serve Castle Street and Westgate stops. Thank you for your patience during this time.”
On their Twitter account, Stagecoach Oxford issued a similar statement:
“SERVICE UPDATE: Castle Street, Oxford is closed & we’re unable to serve stops on Castle Street or the Westgate. Our apologies for the inconvenience.”
First-hand accounts of the incident
According to Oxford Mail, one witness, identified as being a Paradise Square resident, gave the following account, confirming that they heard at least five gunshots around the time before officials arrived at the scene:
“I heard about five gunshots and there was an armed response.”
“Flats have been evacuated and police were trying to talk someone down from their balcony. Police told me to stay in my house.”
On social media, another person, identified as “Janet,” said that shooting possibly occurred around the area of Oxford Castle on Twitter:
“@BBCOxford Shooting behind Oxford Castle. Helicopters hovering. Asked to remain in hotel room. #oxford #gunshots”

Daniel Duignam, a 21-year-old Temple University junior, was killed in a shooting at an off-campus apartment on the night of Saturday, May 5. Duignam was shot three times just before 9 p.m.
According to police, Duignam was shot on Saturday, May 5, in his apartment at 17th and Diamond streets in North Philadelphia, suffering gunshot wounds to the stomach, right arm and face. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.
Temple University says that Duignam was a third-year business major from Tatamy, Pennsylvania, in Northampton County and was studying risk management and insurance.
According to NBC, the current mayor of Tatamy also confirmed Duignam is the grandson of former Tatamy mayor Luke Duignam.

A Temple spokesman said investigators don’t believe the shooting was a random act. Romona Scott, a block captain, who lives in the building next door, told NBC10 she didn’t hear anything suspicious the night of Duignam’s death.
“There’s a bunch of bars,” she said. “They didn’t break in. Whoever it was had to come in with him or he had to know him.”
Neighbors say there was never much activity, such as parties or many visitors, in Duignam’s building. Temple police will increase patrols in the area as a precaution, they said.
The Philadelphia Inquirer reports that homicide Capt. Jack Ryan said while there was no sign of forced entry in Duignam’s first-floor apartment, there was a sign of struggle.
“There was definitely signs of a struggle. The house was ransacked,” Ryan said.
Amanda Bobby Cooper is a rising mixed martial artist who is coming into her own since joining the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The 26-year-old first got her shot in the UFC after reaching the finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Team Joanna vs. Team Claudia strawweight tournament. She finished as the runner-up, losing to Tatiana Suarez by first-round submission.
But since her time on the show, Cooper has secured two wins in three outings, with the lone loss coming to Cynthia Calvillo, one of the top fighters in the division.
Cooper’s next outing in the UFC will be on Saturday, May 12 against undefeated jiu-jitsu ace Mackenzie Dern. While Dern is one of the top prospects in MMA, Cooper is not concerned because of the lack of threat from her wrestling and standup.
“She has bad standup. She throws the same strikes over and over again,” Cooper said in an interview with FloCombat.com. “I haven’t been too impressed. Lately her fights have looked worse than before, so that gives me a good mental edge knowing that I feel like I’m getting better and better.”
UFC 224 takes place at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In the main event, UFC women’s bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes is set to defend her title against Raquel Pennington. The co-main event is a stellar middleweight battle between Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza and Kelvin Gastelum, while legends Vitor Belfort and Lyoto Machida square off in the opening bout of the pay-per-view main card.
