Tonight’s episode of HBO’s Westworld airs at 9:00 P.M. Sunday, April 29, 2018. In this episode, the official synopsis leaves much to the imagination: “Why don’t we start at the beginning?” With an action packed premiere last week, the host’s plans seem to just be getting started as an entirely new narrative begins to take over: theirs.

Date: Sunday, April 29, 2018
Time: 9:00 P.M.
Episode: “Reunion”
TV Channel: HBO
Starring: Evan Rachel Wood, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, James Marsden, Thandie Newton, Jimmi Simpson

It’s Her World Now

Youtube.com/HBO

Dolorous, now beginning to harness the full might of her own independence, is as fierce as she is empowered. She remembers when Arnold first brought her to the real world, outside the park, and can now tap into those memories of what she experience about her maker’s world in order to seize it as they have done her own. She went from seeing the beauty in this world… to the ugliness… and now, finally, she sees the truth.

Horrifyingly enough, she shows Teddy images documenting just how many times he’s died and how his existence is basically just a sick game. As they infiltrate the base, Teddy is officially done playing by their rules too. Learning they’re heavily outnumbered by the humans, Dolorous decides it’s time to recruit allies — because she knows the real purpose of this place better than any maker ever could.

How It All Began

Youtube.com/HBO

In a flashback, we learn how Logan Delos first got hooked into investing his father’s company in the A.I. park to begin with, basically through seduction, which was a nice touch of backstory for an episode that peered back in time to the events which led us to the current rebellion.

In the first season we learned that Logan wouldn’t be in control for long at Delos, as William had grand plans to invest in the park after his full blown infatuation with the A.I. and one beautiful host in particular. After his initial visit, William brings his Delos colleague to Westworld where he explains that the real aspect of marketing to what people want is by giving them freedom in this place, actually examine consumers for who they really are when they think no one is watching.

It’s a sly business move… especially when we think about how tech companies today handle our information. However, it ultimately gives William and Delos Corporation control over the park, a move Logan tells Dolorous is the beginning of the end and they were stupid enough to be the ones to light the match.

Time For A New Role

Youtube.com/HBO

Meanwhile in the park, “It’s a fucking slaughter out there.” The Man in Black is forming an army of his own to survive the game once and for all now that the odds are fair. He’s looking for a real ending to the story, not just another narrative, something real. He gathers his own troop of hosts to fight and heads West.

Dolorous and Maeve cross paths and the possibility of striking an alliance between the two is short-lived. Maeve is out for vengeance herself, she might not have the real world experience Dolorous has, but she has no puppet masters pulling her strings (or pushing her literal buttons). The two opt to wage war in their own ways. Both women in the process of building an army of their own to win freedom for themselves and their fellow hosts.

In a glimpse as to how Westworld came to be and more importantly, the choices that came to have control be taken by the host’s so violently from within, it’s no wonder the plans of Delos to use hosts to give a deeper meaning of the human condition backfired. They were never in control.

Episode Title: “Good Out Here”
TV Channel: AMC

We’re All Still Breathing

Althea tries to get through to her new captors, Nick, Alicia, Strand, and Luciana, but so far no one’s up for a bit of chit-chat. They’ve hijacked her truck and she, Morgan, and John are stuck driving wherever it is now the Clark crew call home. It definitely looks like they’ve spent some time outdoors, and not in a good way. After the back and forth gets old, Luciana crashes the truck and the two groups are forced to have some face time.

In exchange for help fixing the truck, Althea will tell them where she found the flag she’s been holding on to (one of the Vulture group’s markers from the previous episodes) and they’ll have to tell their stories to her. This whole video journalism gig she has going is really streamlining the whole storytelling process this season which I for one am not complaining.

The Power of Protein

Youtube.com/AMC

Youtube.com/AMC

As a sign of good faith, Nick and Morgan remain behind while the remaining parties of both groups head out to find gear to fix the truck they damaged in the hijacking. The two bond over a shared protein bar, as well as some comical smacks of the stick from Morgan. Morgan cuts him free, realizing the kid is emotionally distressed and in no way a threat (big mistake). Nick may not be a threat but he definitely isn’t one who likes being held down.

Nick takes this opportunity to watch Morgan’s interview Althea took of him the day they met. It definitely strung a chord, however it wasn’t enough to get Nick to stay docile for long. He hit the horn and knocked Morgan into the truck before he could get his stick up and took off running as a hoard of walkers approached. Rookie mistake, if they’re coming for one of you, they’re coming for all of you kid.

Sketchy Stories

Youtube.com/AMC

Strand is not a fan of Althea’s whole mission to collect stories. Perhaps that’s because since the first day we met him back in season 1 he’s been shrouded in mystery. Strand’s secrets have secrets. Even Alicia says, “I have no idea how she’s alive.” Still, the truth has kept Althea going this long, if it hasn’t cost her humanity yet, perhaps it’s a price the Clark family should think about paying.

Meanwhile, Nick reflects on a conversation with his mother about the cost of going out and scavenging. Madison tells him that as long as you focus on one thing good out there, then it was worth making the trip, despite never knowing what you’re going to find outside the walls of safety. Right when Nick, finally out of breath running away from the trap he set for Morgan, sees the beauty in a patch of wildflowers… he gets tackled by the same walkers he lured toward Morgan in the first place. Lucky for him, there are still good people out there, and Morgan saves his ass in the nick of time.

The rest of the group get back to the truck to see it overrun by walkers with an arrow in the road pointing in the direction Nick and Morgan escaped to. John and Luciana go find Nick and Morgan while Strand and Alicia agree to help Althea free the truck for information and in return she gets to film them. They seriously better have some good stories to get off their chest because the lengths this woman is willing to go for her profession is more than most in a pre-apocolyptic world.

Morgan helps Nick find one of the Vultures who terrorized his community he’s apparently been tracking since all hell broke loose, and Nick murders him brutally by impaling him with deer antlers. Guess the cost for stealing canned goods means death. Morgan tells Nick he’s been where he is, and he more than understands what he’s going through. Morgan offers to help. The truck is now free and the group, now getting to know each other a bit better, pick up Nick and Morgan and live to fight another day. At least the next time, the fight won’t be with each other.

And just like that, the little girl Charlie who conned them all last week shoots Nick point blank in the chest. I don’t think this is something he can walk off…

Oh Canada: How The Great White North Has Colored The Casino Industry

Everyone loves Canada. Whether you’re a resident or not, the combination of country, city and culture make it a place that everyone loves to be. In fact, such is the pull of Great White North that US citizens and celebrities alike have often said they’d be prepared to cross the border for good. Following the inauguration of Donald Trump as president in 2017, even Snoop Dogg jumped on the Canadian bandwagon and tweeted Drake for help on how to make the move.

Canada, Canada Everywhere

Shutterstock

With such an outpouring of affection for Canada, it’s little wonder that everything from its flag to its famous features have been used in popular culture. Whether it’s Southern Alberta’s Rocky Mountains being used as the backdrop for Brokeback Mountain (not the American West) or maple syrup being loved just about everywhere, the world at large owes a lot to Canadian culture. In fact, one industry that has taken inspiration both directly and indirectly from Canada is the casino world. Thanks to innovations in the online sphere, Canadian companies and themes have become a common sight across the leading platforms. The most obvious example of the country’s influence on the iGaming industry is themed games.

Today, if you scroll through some of the most popular platforms, you’ll find table games that bear the name of famous places. For example, at blackjackcanada.ca online blackjack is described as a card game where the aim is to hit 21 or a better total than the dealer. However, what’s also important to note is that there are many variants of the main game. As well as those listed on the review site, such as Surrender, Switch and Pontoon, many online casinos will offer Las Vegas and Atlantic City variants. This is interesting because each game has rules based on the trends and culture within the area named. Therefore, in this sense, Las Vegas and Atlantic City blackjack are tributes to the places they came from.

Tributes to the Great White North

Shutterstock

Although Canadian blackjack doesn’t exist, there are some slots with a Canuck twist. According to slot-machines.ca online slots are often endowed with a theme. Some of the most common at sites such as Spin Palace come from the movie world and include hits such as Hitman and Lord of the Rings. However, when you look beyond the big brands, you’ll find online slots inspired by Canada. Games such as Wolf Run, Bearly Fishing and the hockey-themed Break Away are all examples of how the country’s culture has seeped into the gaming industry.

In fact, it’s little coincidence that the red and white flag flies high in the iGaming industry. The Stars Group (formerly Amaya) is headquartered in Toronto and is one of the largest companies in the sector. As well as operating a collection of poker, betting and casino sites, The Stars Group has a software division that supplies slots and more to the sites across the world. This combination of indirect and direct influences on the casino world has made Canada the casino market’s centerpiece. So, just as the general population loves Canada, it seems the casino industry is just as hot on the land of Mounties, lumberjacks and maple leaves.

Which Gaming Genres Are Best For eSports?

Shutterstock

Over the last few years, the eSports industry has become an international success inspiring tournaments, streams and competition all around the world. By offering thrills and spectacle to audiences as well as chances for gaming enthusiasts to come together over a shared love, the video game-centric sport has managed to turn gaming from a heavily stereotyped, outsider activity to a globally celebrated pasttime.

While the players and viewers are undeniably essential when it comes to eSports’ success, it is the games that have the most impact. After all, without the games there would be absolutely nothing. Today, we thought we’d take a look at the types of games that have become staples in every eSports arena and explore why they have gained so much attention.

First Person Shooters (FPS)

First and foremost, we have one of the leading eSports genres that to this day remains at the heart of competitive gaming: FPS. Whether it’s legendary releases such as Quake or Counter-Strike or modern titans like Halo and Call of Duty, FPS games are forever tied to eSports. In 2017 alone, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) was the second most lucrative eSports title, appearing in 893 official tournaments with a collective prize pool of $19,242,958. The PGL Major in Krakow last year, where CS:GO was the main game, was watched by over 40 million people.

It’s easy to understand why FPS games are so popular on the circuit. As every seasoned gamer will know,  every FPS requires strategy – making them incredibly interesting to play and view. Whether you’re playing a strategy board game like Risk or have found a new favorite online strategy games developer like Plarium, the brand behind Stormfall and Vikings, we simply can’t get enough of using intricate tactics to defeat our enemies, in whatever form they come. It’s human nature that we want to be inspired by skill and intellect and FPS titles allow us to do this whether we’re playing ourselves or watching others.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arenas (MOBA)

As eSports has grown, so too has the popularity of MOBA games. Now, it is titles such as League of Legends and DotA 2 that appear to forging a path for eSports, attracting considerable viewership, engagement and prize pools. The DotA 2 International is the largest eSports tournament of all time, with over 92 million viewers watching the 2017 competition. During the finals, an incredible 11 million people were watching around the world and the prize pool reached $24,687,919.

The fact MOBA games are so popular is baffling to some as the idea of watching virtual characters milling about seems at worst boring and at best highly confusing to some. Still, it’s impossible to argue with their popularity and there’s a good chance LoL and DotA 2 will remain the leading eSports titles for years to come.

Without a doubt, FPS and MOBA titles are the most popular gaming genres for eSports, drawing millions of people to watch. As eSports grows in popularity it’s possible that other genres may receive their own tournaments. In fact we picture a world where every good game gets its own competition.

Canada’s Casino Culture: How An Online Behemoth Is Shaping Up

Canada Casino Culture

The casino industry in Canada is booming, according to the 2016-2017 figures published by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG). Released at the start of 2018, the report shows that turnover was up to C$7.5 billion (US$6 billion), with casinos contributing just under 50% of the total. Essentially, when it comes to industries on the up, Canada’s casino culture has led to more options in the online arena. For those in the know, this hardly surprising. In 2018, revenue from the video games industry is predicted to top US$2 billion. Alongside the continued growth of gaming, an estimated 25.6 million people now use smartphones to play games on a daily basis, while 1.8 million people are eSports fans.

Online Gaming is on the Rise

Shutterstock

Given the move towards a virtual form of gaming, the betting world has responded well. Today, players can go online via their desktop or mobile and explore a variety of gaming options. Essentially, what the leading operators have done is tap into the dorm room gambling culture and combine it with modern technology to offer easily accessible betting hubs. At the lowest level, many of the leading online casinos offer free play games. Used as a gateway into the industry, these games mimic those commonly found on social media platforms such as Facebook. In other words, players can spin a slot machine’s reels or play blackjack using fake chips. From this, minimum bets are typically set around the $0.01-mark, which means even the most inexperienced players have an affordable way to play.

As online casinos have evolved, so too has the industry surrounding them. With choice now at an all-time high, players can use review sites to get a better insight into the latest offers and, moreover, into what makes a platform tick. At online-casinos-canada.ca online casinos are given star ratings based on a variety of factors. By assessing each of Canada’s online casinos by the size of their bonuses, the accessibility of their interfaces and the range of games they offer, the reviews are able to show players the best place to play. Much like TripAdvisor or Amazon provides users with objective and subjective opinions, third-party casino review sites do the same. The end result is that players find more of what they want and, in theory, less of what they don’t want.

Choice + Direction = Growth

Shutterstock

In many ways, this is one of the main reasons online casino gaming has become a lucrative industry in Canada. Building on the foundations laid down by live casino operators, online entities have been able to thrive. This, in turn, has given consumers a huge amount of choice. When consumers have more choice, they’re more likely to engage; especially if they’re given some direction. Review sites have become the signposts of the industry and this is pointing more people towards the bet button. Although live casino gaming is still recognized as the dominant force in Canada, things are changing. As more people embrace online gaming in all its forms, the number of people placing a bet via their desktop or mobile will increase. Indeed, with third-party sites actively working to guide consumer’s decisions, many would suggest it’s a safe bet to say online casinos will usurp their live counterpart by the end of the decade.

The Moving Millennials

Shutterstock

The millennials, the generation born between 1980 and 2000, are the new force that will shape the world of work over the years to come. The Generation Y tech-savvy warriors of the digital age are the new emerging workforce that will enter the financial world. The Wall Street was the cul-de-sac of a powerful contingent of investment bankers. Until a decade ago, for young students from Asia and Africa, walking down Wall Street with a cup of Starbucks coffee in hand to a plush office of an investment bank seemed a dream come true. However, globalization seems to have disassembled this construct with many more financial capitals emerging across the world. In a reversal of decades of established trends, in the world of the stock market, Singapore is emerging as one of the most attractive destinations for millennials after London and New York. Home to 1,200 financial institutions, the CBD on Marina Bay in the Lion City is fast replacing images of tall skyscrapers dotting the skyline of  New York’s Wall Street and London’s Canary Wharf.

What do the millennials seek?

A lot has been written about how the enigmatic millennial cohort is different from the earlier generation. The most dramatic differences relate to workplace aspirations and habits of the millennials. A Business News Daily report states that millennials seek work-life balance above everything else and they want the workplace to be fun. They see work and life as closely intertwined. Quoting a FlexJobs Survey, Forbes states that more millennials want to work abroad and are ready to start afresh in a new country. The survey states that 70% of millennials want to work overseas because they like to travel and 40% of millennials want to live abroad.

These statistics fit in well with the mindset of this demographic cohort. The preference for overseas jobs is underpinned by a desire for better quality of life, career progression, lifestyle changes, and wanderlust.  The preference for financial careers, which encompasses all these factors, is not intriguing either. Historically, the financial services sector has been associated with high stakes and high pressure that come with high salaries and bonuses. For millennials who seek challenge and adventure, a financial career is the right recipe for a good lifestyle.

Shutterstock

The choice of a financial career by millennials is also a reflection of the emergence of global financial hubs providing increasing career opportunities. In the past, New York and London were the financial centers of the world. However, with the bulge bracket banks outsourcing a number of their important functions to cut costs, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Mumbai emerged as centers with burgeoning growth potential. Further, with a number of mutual funds setting up offices in these cities to capture the pie of the emerging markets, wealth management has become a lucrative job profile. Many banking, brokerage, and accounting firms are moving top-level executives to international locations.

Even employers are keen to recruit millennials

For the millennials, the time is ripe and the opportunity is attractive. Nevertheless, it is not just the millennials who are seeking financial careers. The employers are equally keen to attract this demographic. They are making efforts to understand what motivates millennials and how they perceive their employers and colleagues. Some big financial services leaders in Singapore say they are preparing for the challenges and are recalibrating their recruitment practices to attract high-caliber millennials.

Suspects In Custody After Shooting At Fresno State Fraternity

Five people were arrested on Sunday, April 29, after allegedly firing shots outside a fraternity event at Fresno State University.

According to Fresno police Lt. Michael Landon, four men and one woman showed up a Sigma Nu fundraiser at 2149 E. Shaw Avenue around 12:30 a.m. Police say that an argument ensued after fraternity members told the group they had not been invited and would not be let in through the screen door that led to the courtyard where the party was, Landon said.

Fraternity members had left the locked screen door and returned to the party when they heard two shots. The fraternity members discovered that the screen door had been shot. No one was hurt as a result of the shooting.

via The Collegian:

Sigma Nu President Nicholas Tregembo said the fraternity organization was hosting a charity event for the Autism Society of California by selling nachos. The event was hosted Saturday from 9 to 11:30 p.m. and was winding down when the shots were fired, he said Sunday.

Investigators believe the shooting happened when the group came to a security door in the back of the fraternity. Landon said some in the outside group spoke with someone on the other side. But after a short chat, and after not being allowed in, at least two shots were fired at the door in the direction of the home’s courtyard. Landon said the alleged crime appears to have been out of anger.

Landon added that the suspects live in the area where the shooting took place. By 2 a.m. Sunday, the police had located the four men and one woman along the 2100 block of Sierra Madre Avenue, but Landon could not say whether a gun was recovered. The suspects in question are in their mid-20s. Their names were not released. Nobody was injured as a result of the shooting. And Landon said that the fraternity members have been helpful in the investigation.

Tregembo said 18 people live at the fraternity home but at the time of the shooting, there were about 22. The organization had continued its philanthropic efforts Sunday by joining other organizations in a softball tournament. Tregembo said the organization hosts a charity event once per semester.

Officers found the five suspects — who were from the neighborhood and all in their 20s — about an hour later. They were arrested on scene.

That is all the information available at this time.

Iowa State University Fraternity Sanctioned For Alcohol Abuse

The Kappa Sigma fraternity at Iowa State University has been disciplined for alcohol and drug use.

On Tuesday, May 24, Fraternity Kappa Sigma was sanctioned for misuse of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances. As a result of the sanctions, Kappa Sigma has been placed on extended conduct probation through May 2019.

Furthermore, the fraternity is required to host an alcohol and drug education workshop with 90 percent attendance and must report on the creation of a live-in house director by August 2018. While on probation, the fraternity is not allowed to pledge, initiate, or add members until the sanction is complete.

via Ames Tribune:

According to ISU Student Disciplinary Regulations, misuse of alcoholic beverages and controlled substances can refer to the illegal possession, use, manufacture, distribution or sale of alcoholic beverages or controlled substances both on and off campus. It also applies to “intentionally, knowingly, recklessly or negligently” supplying alcohol to underage individuals. Requests for comment to Kappa Sigma leadership regarding the recent sanction, and the situation surrounding it, were not returned.

Kappa Sigma was previously sanctioned at the end of January for misuse of alcoholic beverages, hazing, public disorder, endangerment, damage to property and violation of conditions of recognition. The conditions of recognition are the policies that qualify the fraternity as a group at ISU.

The organization’s January sanction required a comprehensive review and revision of risk management policies be completed by May 1. A comprehensive review and revision of the fraternity’s pledge program was also mandated to take place with a professional staff member from the university’s Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement.

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who was shut down for hazing and the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

Miami University Students Kicked Out Of Sorority For Singing A ‘Lil Dicky’ Song

Four students were kicked out of the Alpha chapter of Delta Zeta sorority after they were recorded singing a verse in the song “Freaky Friday” by Lil Dicky and Chris Brown. In the song — which has almost 200 million views on Youtube — Lil Dicky switches bodies with Chris Brown (like in the movie Freaky Friday) and says, “Wonder if I can say the (racial slur)? Wait, can I really say the (racial slur)? What up, my (racial slur)?” The four students have not yet been identified.

Miami University Spokeswoman Claire Wagner applauded the expulsion action of the sorority but said there are no provisions under the school’s student discipline policies that apply to the incident due to constitutional free speech allowance.

The Delta Zeta sorority released a statement on Monday on Facebook, saying they “condemn the discriminatory and hateful language” of the video and that the four women were removed from the sorority.

“We are a diverse and inclusive organization and are appalled about the actions of these former members, as we deeply respect all members of the Greek and campus community. We took immediate action and these individuals are no longer members of Delta Zeta because we do not tolerate any form of discrimination.”

University Spokeswoman Wagner told the Cincinnati Enquirer that “this was insensitive use of language that we all consider off limits and the Delta Zeta leadership took good swift action to handle it.”

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Net Worth 2018: How Much Is NBA Legend Worth?

0

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one of the most recognizable athletes in the world. Standing at an imposing 7-foot-2, the former NBA basketball player is a Hall of Famer who is considered one of the greatest to ever play the game. As one of the greats, Abdul-Jabbar has hit many milestones in his sport and, though he does not live in today’s day and age where athletes are making tens of millions of dollars throughout their playing careers, the former No. 1 overall pick has done quite well for himself on and off the court.

How much has Abdul-Jabbar earned throughout his career? Let’s take a look.

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Net Worth As Of 2018: $20 Million

Abdul-Jabbar is an NBA legend who was a 19-time All-Star, Rookie of the Year, and two-time scoring champion. The Hall of Famer also appeared in film and television, securing his legacy as one of the biggest sports stars of his era.

According to online estimates, Abdul-Jabbar currently has a net worth of $20 million.

About Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was born as Ferdinand Lewis Alcindor Jr. on April 16, 1947, in New York City, New York. Abdul-Jabbar starred for the UCLA Bruins and was part of an 88-2 three-year run. Still known as Alcindor during his Bruins career, the College Basketball Hall of Famer was a two-time Player of the Year, three-time First Team All-American, three-time national champion. three-time Most Outstanding Player in the NCAA Tournament, and the first-ever Naismith College Player of the Year.

Alcindor converted to Islam in the summer of 1968, later adopting his Arabic name Kareem Abdul-Jabbar publicly in 1971. Also in 1968, Abdul-Jabbar boycotted the 1968 Summer Olympics to protest unequal treatment of African-Americans in the United States.

Once his college career was over, Abdul-Jabbar made his way to the NBA as the No. 1 overall pick of the Milwaukee Bucks in 1969. Abdul-Jabbar played for the Bucks until 1975, before joining the Los Angeles Lakers where he played from 1975-1989.

Josh Norman was born December 15, 1987, in Greenwood, South Carolina. Norman began his football career at Greenwood High School alongside future NFL teammates Armanti Edwards and D.J. Swearinger. Norman’s team won the South Carolina State Championship. Norman also played basketball, baseball and track and field in high school. As he prepared to begin his college football career, Norman received no Division I offers.

Norman attended Horry Georgetown Tech to get a head start on his college coursework, before joining Coastal Carolina as a walk-on in 2008. Norman’s brother also attended Coastal Carolina.

Norman was a three-time All-Big South honoree and First-Team FCS All-American. He would eventually go on to be a fifth-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers.

In the NFL, Norman emerged as one of the top cornerbacks in the league. He was eventually released by the Panthers on April 20, 2016, after the two sides failed to come to an agreement on a long-term deal. He then signed a record deal with the Washington Redskins.

Norman, who has 312 tackles, 65 pass deflections, 10 interceptions, and 8 forced fumbles throughout his NFL career, was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015.

Ahead of the 2018-19 NFL season, Norman agreed to appear on an all-athlete season of “Dancing With The Stars” alongside his professional dance partner Sharna Burgess.

Candace Owens is a conservative writer, producer, and commentator who attempted to launch SocialAutopsy.com in 2016, a website she said would expose bullies on the Internet. Owens gained further recognition in April 2018, when Kanye West tweeted “I love the way Candace Owens thinks.” The Tweet led to a meeting between the two on April 29, 2018.

Owens was born to an African American family and was raised in Stamford, Connecticut. She graduated from Stamford High School, although not without controversy. When she was a senior in 2007, Owers received threatening racist phone calls. The calls were eventually traced to a car in which the son of Governor Dannel Malloy was in. Owens’ family sued the Stamford Board of Education in federal court alleging that the city did not protect her rights, resulting in a $37,500 settlement.

Following high school, Owens graduated with a B.A. in journalism from the University of Rhode Island. Following college, Owens got a job at Vogue magazine. After Vogue, she took a job as an administrative assistant for a private equity firm in 2012. Three years later, Owens quit her job at the private equity firm to found the website Degree180, which creates Internet content targeted at millennials.

In 2017, Owens launched Red Pill Black, a website and YouTube channel that promotes conservatism to a black American audience. On November 21, 2017, at the MAGA Rally and Expo in Rockford, Illinois, Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk announced her appointment as their director of urban engagement.

Sharna Burgess is one of the most recognizable professional dance partners on the ABC hit show “Dancing With The Stars.” The 32-year-old Australian dancer and choreographer has had an extensive career on reality shows, but her debut in the United States came on DWTS season 16 where she was partnered with Andy Dick. In her ten seasons on the show, Burgess has had an impressive six Top 5 finishes. She is a two-time runner-up.

In 2018, Burgess returns to the dance floor as a professional dancer on an all-athlete edition of the show where she is paired with NFL player Josh Norman.

It is not the first time Burgess has been paired with a professional athlete, however. In previous seasons, she has partnered with Hall of Fame wide receiver Keyshawn Johnson, Pittsburgh Steelers star Antonio Brown, and former NBA player Derek Fisher.

While Burgess enjoys her time in the competition, it also has its challenges.

“The best part is being able to meet some of our incredible fans face to face, hear how much they love the show and how much it means to them. We have the most amazing and dedicated fans and seeing the smiles on their faces while we perform live is just so fulfilling,” she said in a previous interview. “The most challenging part is being away from my life for three months. I have two dogs, my home, other projects that need my attention and being on the road makes it hard to be there for those things.”

Burgess began training for her dance career at age 5 when she took up ballet and jazz. Eventually, she transitioned to ballroom dancing. It didn’t take long for Burgess to find success, representing Australia at the World Championships at age 15. She also performed in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games closing ceremony.

You can catch Burgess on the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” premiere Monday, April 30 at 8/7c on ABC.

Witney Carson is a 24-year-old professional dancer, choreographer, and actress who is one of the pros on ABC’s hit show “Dancing With The Stars.” Prior to time as a professional partner on the dance competition, Carson was the second runner-up on season 9 of “So You Think You Can Dance” at just 18-years-old.

Within her first two seasons on DWTS, Carson captured the mirror ball trophy with her partner Alfonso Ribeiro, who played Carlton Banks on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.” That same season, Carson was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography.

Carson is just one of five pros on “Dancing With The Stars” to win the title within her first two seasons.

As a professional dance partner, Carson has been partnered with Cody Simpson, Ribeiro, Chris Soules, Carlos PenaVega, Von Miller, Vanilla Ice, Chris Kattan, and Frankie Muniz.

Carson returns to the dance floor for a special all-athlete edition of the show where she will be partnered with Olympian Chris Mazdzer, who earned the gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in luge.

She is married to Carson McAllister.

Carson was born in American Fork, Utah and began dancing at the age of three. She trained in ballet, jazz, hip hop, ballroom, tap, and many other disciplines which led to her success as a professional.

If you take any advice from Carson, let it be this: the key to success is eating healthy and sleep.

“Being so active with dance and just the craziness of life, I have to get my sleep,” she said in an interview with ToneItUp.com. “If I don’t get a full night’s rest I feel sluggish and not my best self. That also goes for eating the right foods, too! If I eat junk food or big greasy foods my body can’t sustain on that. Eating whole, clean foods really helps me to feel energized!”

You can catch Carson on the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” premiere Monday, April 30 at 8/7c on ABC.

Jennie Finch has made quite a name for herself on the softball diamond, as well as off of it. She’s not only a celebrated female athlete that serves as a great role model, but she’s also a dedicated mother, which she stated as her reasoning behind retiring from professional softball.

Finch is set to premiere an as yet unforeseen skill set of hers when she appears on this season of Dancing With The Stars: Athletes, looking to show off that she might just be the most well-rounded woman to ever exist. I mean, an amazing athlete, great mom, beautiful, AND a dancer? Come on Jennie, save some talent for the rest of us.

Instagram Photo

Finch got her start playing softball at the young age of five and began pitching at eight. She never looked back from there, truly honing her talents in high school, where she lettered all four years in not just softball but volleyball as well.

She went on to attend the University of Arizona, where she, of course, crushed it. She broke a ton of records, including winning 51 (!) consecutive games that she pitched. She currently still holds the school records for strikeouts, shutouts, innings pitched, and is tied for the career no-hitters record.

Following college, Finch went on to join the US National Softball Team, competing in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She was a big contributor to the team, helping lead them to a gold medal victory. She would also participate in the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, winning a silver medal.

She played for the Chicago Bandits in the National Pro Fastpitch league, from 2005-2010, but retired following the 2010 season to focus on her family life.

She stayed in the spotlight though, even becoming the first woman to manage a professional baseball team, when she coached the Bridgeport Bluefish of the Atlantic League.

You can next catch Jennie Finch as she chases the crown on this season of Dancing With The Stars.

Johnny Damon Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Damon Worth?

Johnny Damon, 44, is a retired baseball player who played in the MLB from 1995 to 2012. He was an outfielder who played for a total of seven teams throughout his career, Kansas City Royals (1995–2000), Oakland Athletics (2001), Boston Red Sox (2002–05), New York Yankees (2006–09), Detroit Tigers (2010), Tampa Bay Rays (2011) and Cleveland Indians (2012). Damon is most known for his time on the Red Sox where he made his two and only All-Star appearances (2002 and 2005) and won his first of two World Series in 2004, breaking the 86-year “Curse of the Bambino” for Boston. In 2009, Damon would win his second World Series with the Red Sox rival, NY Yankees.

Johnny Damon Net Worth As Of 2018: $60 Million

Damon has accumulated an impressive fortune over his 18-season career. On top of his MLB salary and multiple endorsements, he’s made several television appearances during his career and post-retirement. Let’s take a look back at how he became one of baseball’s most recognizable faces.

Early Life

Instagram Photo

Johnny Damon was born in Fort Riley, an Army base in Kansas, and raised in Orlando, FL. Damon was a quiet child, largely due to a stutter he had. “My thoughts just raced ahead of my tongue,” Damon said of his problem. “I’d sing songs as therapy, and I got better, but I still just kept quiet most of the time.” He always excelled in baseball though, and his talents became more and more apparent while attending Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando. In his senior year in 1992, he was rated the top high school prospect in the country by Baseball America, was named to USA Today’s High School All-America team, and was the Florida Gatorade Player of the Year. Damon also played football in high school. Some highlights included getting decked by Warren Sapp while sustaining his first ever concussion.

1995-2001

Instagram Photo

Damon was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the first round (35th overall) of the 1992 amateur draft. He made his Major League debut in August 1995 after playing the previous season with the minor league Wichita Wranglers. He played for the Royals from 1995 to 2000. One of his best seasons came in 2000 when he led the American League in runs with 136 and stolen bases with 46, as he was second in hits (214), at bats (655), and plate appearances (741).

2002-2005

Instagram Photo

Damon got his first big payday in December 2001 when he signed a four-year $31 million contract with the Boston Red Sox. He didn’t disappoint. In his first season with the Sox in 2002, he led the league in triples (11) and was third in infield hits (25), and made his first All-Star team. Throughout his four-season stint in Boston, Damon would cement himself as one of the top outfielders in the MLB. In 2004, he helped lead the team to a World Series win, thus ending Boston’s 86-year “Curse of the Bambino”. In his final year with Boston in 2005, Damon made his second and last All-Star appearance.

2006-2012

Instagram Photo

After Damon’s four-year contract was up in Boston, he made the short hike to the rival Yankees for another four-year deal. This time it was for a whopping $52 million. His signing with the Yankees didn’t go over well with Boston fans for obvious reasons. In 2005, he said he would stay loyal to Boston and not sign with NY because money was not the most important thing. I guess $52 million changes things. As part of the signing, Damon also had to shape up his long hair and grizzled look to be in accordance with NY’s strict dress code. He didn’t look the same but still played like the old Damon. In 2009, he beat the Phillies for his second World Series victory and was one of the major factors in the Yankees success. He spent the latter part of his career bouncing around from team to team on short, high-pay contracts.

2013-Present

Instagram Photo

After his one season stint with the Cleveland Indians ended in 2012, Damon entered free agency. He would remain a free agent for three years, from 2013-2015, with hopes of someone picking him up. Although he remained confident in his abilities during that time, no team bit, and he officially retired at the end of the 2015 season. In his retirement, he’s remained somewhat in the public eye, appearing on the 2015 season of the Celebrity Apprentice, MTV Cribs, and in April 2018, it was announced that he would compete in season 26 of Dancing with the Stars.
