Country and pop star Keith Urban will unleash his newest album “Grafitti U” later this week. Urban made the news official back on January 17th when he announced his 59-date scheduled “Grafitti U” tour during a surprise performance at Nashville’s Exit/In. The Whangarei, New Zealand native hasn’t released an album since 2016, when he unveiled “Ripcord”, which received a nomination for Best Country Album at the 59th Grammy Awards. As for “Grafitti U”, we’ve got everything you need to know about the highly-anticipated album. From where to stream it, to where you’ll be able download all the newest tracks.

According to Billboard, details of “Graffiti U” were broken down to a tee by Urban himself, because Urban wanted to reflect on his penchant for living and creating in the moment. It was also revealed that Urban juggled a lot of material, and spent an inordinate amount of time revising songs with his production team, as a means to focus on the distinction of each track.

“Grafitti U” will be Urban’s 11th album since 1991, along with “Keith Urban” (1991), “Keith Urban in The Ranch”, “Keith Urban” (1999), “Golden Road”, “Be Here”, “Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing”, “Defying Gravity”, “Get Closer”, “Fuse”, and “Ripcord”.

Finishing the final touches of “Grafitti U”, Urban prompted the album as a representation of his creative approach and the unique bond he has with his fans.

“Graffiti has more of an artistic expression connotation,” Urban said about the album, “A purer artistic expression, which is really what record-making is for me.”

Post Malone dropped his second studio album, “Beerbongs and Bentleys” on Friday, April 27, 2018. The second album from Malone has been long awaited since he put out three singles off of the album in late 2017 and early 2018. Malone had been teasing the project for months, putting out the tracklist only nine days ago. The album is set to have a number of people featured on it including Nicki Minaj, YG, G-Eazy, Swae Lee as well as Ty Dolla $ign and 21 Savage from the tracks that we’ve already heard. Malone himself had been fairly quiet about it on social media until late, spending his time tweeting about video games instead.

On April 17, Malone was nominated for three 2018 Billboard Music Awards, including Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Rap Artist and Top Billboard 200 Album for his first album “Stoney.”

“Beerbongs & Bentleys” is set to have 18 tracks and a runtime of 64 and a half minutes. Like many upcoming artists, Malone looks to avoid the classic sophomore slump.

NFL Draft 2018: Best Players Available On Day 2

0
0

Round 1 of the 2018 NFL Draft started with a bang on Thursday, April 26 with the Cleveland Browns running to the podium to select Heisman Trophy-winner Baker Mayfield with the No. 1 overall pick. The first round finished in similar fashion when another AFC North team, the Baltimore Ravens, traded to No. 32 to take Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Lamar Jackson to close out the day.

It was a wild night full of trades and surprises, and we still have six rounds of excitement left as the draft continues throughout the next 48 hours.

On Friday night, the draft resumes with Rounds 2 and 3 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas as teams across the league look to strengthen their draft classes and find the next potential NFL star. While the players remaining didn’t hear their names called in the opening round, there is still plenty of talent remaining on the board at premium positions.

Who are the best players remaining as we prepare for Rounds 2 and 3? Let’s take a look.

10. Mike Gesicki, TE, Penn State

Gesicki is the kind of tight end who can line up in the slot and create a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. As the top tight end remaining on the board, his eventual landing spot will come down to what type of offensive player teams are looking for.

If you want a tight end who can stay in and block, Gesicki is not your pick as he has a long way to go in the blocking game. But if you want a big-bodied redzone threat who can stretch the field down the seam, the former Nittany Lion is exactly the type of addition you will be looking for.

9. Connor Williams, OG, Texas

This year’s draft class lacked any top-tier offensive tackle prospects, but there is plenty of value early in Round 2 if you are looking to protect your quarterback. Williams is a quick offensive tackle who excels as a pass blocker, but he does need to strengthen up to become more of a factor in the run blocking game.

But if you’re a team running a zone-blocking scheme that needs a fast-footed tackle to get in front of the play, keep your eye on Williams when Day 2 kicks off.

8. James Daniels, C, Iowa

There were multiple centers taken in the first round on Thursday night, with Frank Ragnow of Arkansas heading to the Detroit Lions and Ohio State’s Billy Price landing with the Cincinnati Bengals in back-to-back picks. Surprisingly, Daniels, who is considered the best of the bunch by many did not hear his name called.

That sets a lucky team up for an early steal in Round 2.

Daniels is an incredibly strong and physical blocker who likes to bully defensive linemen. If you’re looking for a strong run blocker who can use his hands and played in an NFL style proram, look no further than the former Hawkeyes standout.

7. Nick Chubb, RB, Georgia

Chubb’s Georgia Bulldogs running mate Sony Michel heard his name called with the No. 31 overall pick on Thursday night and it shouldn’t be long until Chubb comes off the board on Friday night.

Chubb does have some injury concerns and is more of a one-dimensional back, but he is a strong, downhill runner that can bring a certain type of physicality to the running game. Add Chubb into an offense that also has a speedster in the backfield and you could have a formidable 1-2 punch moving forward.

6. Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M

Just two wide receivers were selected in Round 1, with D.J. Moore of Maryland heading to the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons scooping up Alabama wideout Calvin Ridley. That speaks to the depth of the position and team’s confidence that they can find a premium pass catcher on Day 2. Kirk is expected to be one of those guys who is taken early.

It didn’t take long for Kirk to make his impact felt at Texas A&M, immediately becoming one of the team’s top players and their best receiver. Along with being a threat on the outside and his ability to run solid routes, Kirk brings an added dynamic on special teams as a high-level return man.

5. Harold Landry, OLB, Boston College

Landry was considered a borderline first-round selection but ultimately was not one of the first 32 players to come off the board in this year’s draft. However, as the best pass rusher left on the board, it shouldn’t be long until the former Boston College star learns where he will be beginning his professional career.

Landry was once considered as a potential top 15 pick, but an underwhelming senior campaign led to a drop in his stock. Landry is a well-rounded pass rusher and is not afraid to lay the wood on whoever has the ball in their hands. Landry could make an immediate impact as a situational pass rusher for any team.

4. Courtland Sutton, WR, SMU

Like Kirk, Sutton was hurt by the lack of wide receivers to come off the board in the opening round. Sutton adds a dynamic threat in the redzone thanks to his 6-foot-4 frame which he uses every inch of. Sutton uses his body well to box out defenders and has a history of rising above opposing defensive backs to come down with some impressive one-handed grabs.

While he may not be the fastest wide receiver, Sutton can be a guy who consistently moves the chains for a first down and helps your offense light up the scoreboard.

3.Will Hernandez, OG, UTEP

With so many offensive guards flying off the board in Round 1, it was a surprise that UTEP’s Will Hernandez is still on the board. Hernandez was a potential top 20 pick and is the type of offensive lineman who brings a nasty attitude to the trenches.

Hernandez can hold his own in pass protection with a strong base, but he truly excels when he gets to unleash his strength as a run blocker. Hernandez is not afraid to run through any oncoming defender and is the type of blocker who will play all the way through the whistle.

2. Derrius Guice, RB, LSU

If there is a running back-needy team hoping to add to their backfield early in Round 2, LSU’s Guice is the man to target. There has been talk of concern about his personality and potential off-field issues, but his talent speaks for itself.

Guice has experience in the top conference in college football and has had no problem carrying the load for the Tigers offense. When he burst onto the scene in 2016 as an injury replacement for current Jacksonville Jaguars running back Leonard Fournette, it was clear that Guice was destined for stardom. With his good vision and downhill style, Guice has every bit of talent to become a feature back in the pros.

1. Josh Jackson, CB, Iowa

Once considered the top cornerback prospect in the 2018 NFL Draft, Jackson should be one of the first few players to come off the board when the draft resumes on Friday night. As a player who played in Kirk Ferentz’s program, Jackson should be ready to play from Day 1 and knows how to fit in a well-structured system.

A knock on Jackson is his speed, but he makes up for that with his insticts, touhness and ability to make big plays in zone coverage. If Jackson has an opportunity to get his hands on the ball, he often comes down with an interception thanks to his impressive hands for a defensive back.

Jackson has all of the makings of a No. 1 cornerback.

Penn State Fraternity Returns To Campus After Three Year Suspension

The Pi Kappa Phi fraternity at Penn State has returned to campus three years after losing recognition from the university and its national office due to multiple violations.

According to reports, the Pi Kappa Phi chapter was placed on interim suspension in December 2014 while being investigated alleged violations. The university has since taken over the conduct process for fraternities and sororities.

In April 2015, Penn State and the national organization revoked the chapter’s recognition for three years following charges of hazing, alcohol violations, disorderly conduct, providing false information, hosting unregistered social functions and violating the terms of suspension during the investigation. At the time, IFC president Rick Groves called the fraternity members’ activities “shameful and inexcusable,” though details were not made known.

via State College:

At the time, IFC president Rick Groves called the fraternity members’ activities “shameful and inexcusable,” though details were not made known. This month marked the end of the three-year suspension, and on Thursday the IFC and Penn State Office of Fraternity of Sorority Life congratulated Pi Kappa Phi on its return to Penn State.

“On Tuesday night, the IFC Chapter Presidents voted to accept the recolonization of Pi Kappa Phi. The IFC is excited to add new students to our community and believe their fresh perspective will add value,” IFC Vice President for Communications Daniel Lee said via email. “The new group is excited to be the change and has communicated their commitment towards community engagement, philanthropy and THON. We Are excited to see our community grow and develop.”

Pi Kappa Phi becomes the first fraternity to return from closure since the February 2017 death of Beta Theta Pi pledge Timothy Piazza. Beta Theta Pi has been permanently banned from Penn State. Eleven other fraternities and one sorority at Penn State are currently suspended or have lost university recognition. Six will be eligible to reopen before the fall semester — Alpha Chi Rho, Delta Upsilon, Kappa Delta Rho, Phi Kappa Tau, Phi Mu Delta and Sigma Lambda Gamma. None of the six have yet announced plans to re-colonize at Penn State.

Pi Kappa Phi’s return to campus comes just a week after the new “Tim’s Law” — a bill inspired by the death of Tim Piazza, a Penn State pledge who passed away in 2017 after a night of heavy drinking. — passed through the Pennsylvania Senate.

Lorain County Jail

Sarah Conway, a 24-year-old teacher Willow Creek Positive Education Program in Eaton Township, has been charged with four counts of sexual battery for allegedly having sex with an 18-year-old. Authorities say the victim was 17-years-old at the start of their relationship

According to the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office, Conway came to the sheriff’s office to file a harassment complaint against the student on March 21. At that time, deputies say Conway admitted to having sex with the student but was filing a complaint about the multiple text messages he sent when they broke up.

The Lorain County Sheriff’s Office said text messages showed that Conway and the student had broken up and she had been harassed.

The Willow Creek Positive Education Program in Eaton Township says it placed Conway on leave immediately after the complaint surfaced and expect to fire her.

Deputies are not charging the student.

Conway is just the latest teacher to be charged for an alleged relationship with a teenager student.  Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

In addition, 31-year-old Nicole Marie Andrews, 32-year-old Jessica Langford, 29-year-old Andrea Baber, 27-year-old Robin Dunlap, 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro have also been charged with these charges.

WWE Greatest Royal Rumble Live Stream: How To Watch WWE PPV

WWE is pulling out all the stops at their massive event, The Greatest Royal Rumble in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on April 27th. The Superstars of the WWE Universe will come together to put on one of the biggest events ever, both metaphorically and literally, with a 50-man Royal Rumble at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium. With less than half of the entrants announced we have a lot to look forward to in the monster match. Though the Royal Rumble isn’t the only thing promised in this mid-day event, with every men’s title being put on the line and some exciting singles matches.

In the wake of the Superstar Shake-Up, a lot of things are in the air. How will this affect the title landscape of WWE? With members of opposite brand competing for two titles and monster rematches of four Wrestlemania matches, with a few extra surprises, there could be some major changes to the championship scene.

The tag team division has two very different styles of matches, one familiar, one between new foes. The Uso’s will be taking on the bruising duo of the Blugeon Brothers for the SmackDown Live Titles. Continuing a heated rivalry. The Raw Tag Team titles is an interesting situation. New duo Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt Take on The Bar. The interesting part? The Bar has been sent to SmackDown… will they cause drama and take the titles with them?

The mid-card has an exciting set of matches as well. Jinder Mahal will be trying to get his United States Title back from fan favorite Jeff Hardy after losing it on his first day on RAW. What’s even more puzzling is Hardy immediately went to SmackDown the next night, taking the title with him. Winner takes the title back to their brand. We get a rematch of the triple threat from Wrestlemania for the Intercontinental Title except for one major change. New SmackDown Live Superstar Samoa Joe will join The Miz, Seth Rollins, and Finn Balor to make it an epic Fatal 4 Way.

To wrap up the event we also get a rematch of both brands flagship titles. Shinsuke Nakamura will get another shot at AJ Styles, this time firmly planted in the role of a low blow delivering heel. We also will see Roman Reigns take one more shot at The Beast Incarnate himself, Brock Lesnar. After a brutal beatdown at Wrestlemania, we all want to see how The Big Dog will respond.

There will also be a pair of matches that involve major WWE legends. The face of WWE, John Cena will be facing off against the companies COO himself Triple H. In a match that seems more at home 10 years ago we’ll see these two juggernauts of the industry face off. We also have the drama-filled saga of The Undertaker vs. Rusev. The two were originally booked to fight in a Casket Match before Rusev was pulled in favor of WWE legend Chris Jericho. Now the story on why is unclear, but WWE has since changed their mind and reinstated the Bulgarian Brute in the match. In story it is due to Lana — out of story it may be more political. Either way, this time last year we thought The Undertaker was done for good and now we have him facing off against one of WWE’s hottest properties.

Post Malone Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Post Worth?

0

Austin Richard Post, better known by his stage name, Post Malone, is a 22-year-old rapper, singer, songwriter, and producer from Syracuse, New York. He skyrocketed to fame in 2015 after he released his debut single “White Iverson.” The song caught fire online, and in the same month, he signed a record deal with Republic Records. His highly anticipated album, Beerbongs and Bentleys, dropped in April 2018 with its lead single “Rockstar” being Post’s first number one on Billboard’s Hot 100.

Post Malone Net Worth As Of 2018: $8 Million

The 22-year-old musician is already worth a cool $8 million. With two albums and plenty of success already under his belt, let’s take a look back at Post’s journey and explosive climb to one of the top figures in the industry.

Early Life

Instagram Photo

Post Malone was born Austin Richard Post in Syracuse, New York. When he was nine his family moved to Grapevine, Texas after his dad became the manager of concessions for the Dallas Cowboys. Post was raised by his father, Rich Post, and his stepmother, Jodie Post. Rich Post had been a disc jockey in his youth and introduced Post to many different genres of music including hip-hop, country, and rock. He credited his initial interest in learning guitar to the video game Guitar Hero. His first foray into professional music began when he joined a heavy metal band. Soon after, he transitioned to softer rock as well as hip-hop, before beginning to experiment with different sounds and genres on FL Studio, a music software.

2011-2015

At 16, using Audacity, Post created his first mixtape, Young and After Them Riches. He showed it to some of his classmates at Grapevine High School. He was voted “Most Likely to Become Famous” by his classmates as a senior in high school. He enrolled at Tarrant County College but dropped out and moved to Los Angeles, California, with his longtime friend Jason Probst. According to Post, he chose Post Malone as his stage name when he was 14 or 15 using a “rap name generator” to get “Malone”.

2015-2016

After moving to LA, Post, Probst, and several other producers and artists formed the music group BLCKVRD and recorded music together. Not long after moving to LA, Post met 1st Down, Rich, and Rex Kudo, who produced several of his tracks including, “White Iverson.” Post recorded the song two days after writing it. In February 2015 he released the song on Sound Cloud, and in July of the same year, he dropped his music video. The single caught attention from the likes of Mac Miller and Wiz Khalifa, and Post’s entry into the music industry had officially begun. He signed a record deal with Republic Records in August 2015, and dropped his first album a little over a year later, Stoney, in December 2016. Although he would later say that Stoney was “mediocre”, one of his singles “Congratulations” peaked at number 8 on the Billboard’s Hot 100.

2017-Present

In February 2017, Post revealed the title of his next project, Beerbongs & Bentleys. Post’s first single from the album, “Rockstar” was the first of his tracks to hit number one on Billboard’s Hot 100. It held the spot for an impressive eight consecutive weeks. After a couple delays and growing anticipation, Post Malone dropped his album, Beerbongs and Bentleys, on April 27, 2018.

GMU Student Charged With Distributing LSD That Caused Another Student’s Death

Fairfax County Police Department

A George Mason University student, Alejandro Porrata, 19, has been charged with distributing the LSD that a fellow student took before plunging to his death.

Tristan Tanner Medina, 19, died in September 2017, after crashing through the window of his dorm and falling five floors.

Porrata was indicted in January by a grand jury after Medina’s death, according to the Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney.

Both Medina and Porrata were members of the fraternity Sigma Alpha Epsilon, which has been temporarily suspended from GMU following a university investigation around Medina’s death.

The death investigation opened a university probe into an alleged cheating scandal after stolen exams were found on Medina’s computer. Through search warrants, investigators have learned of communication between SAE members about “test banks”.

WUSA9 reports that the warrant shows record of one member allegedly writing to another, “Yo, (name) how can I get one of the tests from our test bank?”

GMU spokesman Sandler sent the following statement to WUSA9 on Wednesday:

“In September, police opened a criminal investigation into the death of a student on campus. During the course of that investigation, police discovered a test bank, which included images of university exams that people could access.

The issue of the test bank was referred to the Office of Student Conduct to look into the misuse of university documents. No criminal charges have been brought.

Student Conduct began an administrative process that can result in disciplinary action. The university cannot discuss the identity of students involved or any potential disciplinary action against the individuals, as they are considered educational records and are protected under FERPA. The fraternity was suspended on an interim basis pending the outcome of a disciplinary hearing. That process is still underway and final disciplinary action may follow.”

John Cena vs. Triple H

The two behemoths of the industry faced off to start the show. One of the greatest heels of all time taking on one of the greatest faces of all time. The Game had some great heel moments, taunting Cena by waving his hand in front of his face and mocking Cena’s “You can’t see me” catchphrase. Even going as far as to use Cena’s own Five Knuckle Shuffle against him. The Cerebral Assassin seemed to have the upper hand through more of the match but it wasn’t enough to put Super Cena down. Two AA’s in a row put the King of Kings away and John Cena emerged victorious.

Cedric Alexander (c) vs. Kalisto for Cruiserweight Championship

The high fliers of the cruiserweight division were on full display at The Greatest Royal Rumble. The Soul of 205Live Cedric Alexander and Lucha Dragon Kalisto lived up to their athletic abilities in this match. With flips few people could do and kicks that looked like they could take someones head off these two showed why more people should be watching 205Live. The current champion proved to be too much for the former champion, Alexander retains his Cruiserweight Championship.

The Bar vs. Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt for the Raw Tag Team Titles

Recent Raw expatriates The Bar want to find their way back to the red brand by winning the Raw Tag Team Titles therefor forcing SmackDown Live to send them back over. To do so they would have to go through newly minted tag team of Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt. The feat would prove to be too much for The Bar. Even though they showed how dominant they could be, the odd duo of Hardy and Wyatt found a way to come out on top. Looks like The Bar are staying on SmackDown Live and the entertaining duo of Hardy and Wyatt will begin their reign of the tag division of Raw.

Jeff Hardy (c) vs. Jinder Mahal for US Title

Jinder Mahal looks to avenge his embarrassing eight-day US Title reign by getting the championship back from perennial fan favorite Jeff Hardy. Mahal would show he could be a massive force and Hardy showed he still has the ability to fly high. Maybe not the most well-executed match, with at least one major botch that the announcers even had trouble talking away… Regardless Jeff Hardy defeats the Modern Day Maharaja and walks away, still, your United States Champion.

The Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs. The Uso’s for the SmackDown Live Tag Team Titles

The Usos look to get their SmackDown Tag Team Titles back from the bruising duo that is The Blugeon Brothers. The Bludgeon Brothers have seemed like an unstoppable force since busting onto the blue brand’s tag division. The Usos put in the most offense they have been able to in weeks during this match against the two big men but it just wasn’t enough. The Bludgeon Brothers put down the Usos to retain their titles.

Seth Rollins (c) vs. Finn Balor vs. The Miz vs. Samoa Joe for the Intercontinental Championship

Fans were excited to see three huge names from the independent scene in such a high profile match against each other. Add in arguably WWE’s best working heel at the moment, The Miz and you should have a great match right? Well, that’s what you got. Each man put their bodies on the line and told a great story. Balor and Rollins showed their athletic ability, Samoa Joe was the powerhouse we expected, and The Miz was the opportunistic heel we all know and love. Each man used the ladder as a blunt object to either bludgeon their foe with or throw them into. The match was highlighted by Rollins vaulting off the ropes onto the ladder to leapfrog Balor, who was climbing up the other side and snatch the title right out from Balor’s hands. Must watch match.

AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura for the WWE Championship

When these two faced off at Wrestlemania 34 we were all hoping for a dream match. WWE promoted it as a dream match. These two are capable of a dream match. What we got was, well… pretty good. Now these two have another shot at bringing the magic they had in NJPW to the WWE. The difference is this time it wasn’t two good guys who respect each other. We have the face, AJ Styles. And the heel, Shinsuke Nakamura who seems to have a natural desire to deliver low blows to the boy from Georgia. We got a much faster-paced match than at Wrestlemania but what’s really helping this story is the character shift. Nakamura plays a great heel and it makes it believable that Styles would like nothing more than to lay down a beating on him. So much so this match ended in a double count out due to the fact Styles was so transfixed on causing pain to Nakamura. Maybe not the ending we hoped for but great for the story and definitely an improvement on Wresltmania 34.

AJ Styles retains WWE Championship via double count out

Rusev vs. The Undertaker in a Casket Match

The Undertaker is arguably the most popular gimmick in WWE history and now he takes on what is currently one of WWE’s most popular gimmicks in the form of Rusev Day. Was this truly going to be Rusev day? The Deadman looked better than he has in past matches and Rusev is always solid. Just when it seemed that Rusev may have the upper hand he turned his back on the Undertaker for just a second and that left the window open for his signature rise. After putting the Bulgarian Brute in the casket, Aiden English tried to jump in and help his friend and was met with a similar fate. After the Undertaker put both of the men into the casket, he closed the lid and won the match. Hopefully there are brighter days in the future but for now, RIP Rusev Day.

The Undertaker defeats Rusev by closing the casket on him

Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship

Well, we get Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns… again. The match started like you would expect, a few suplexes and an F5 by Lesnar. Then is degraded into a fight that looked like a video game where you set the match to unlimited finishers…F5s, spears, and superman punches given out like candy on Halloween. This was a better match than it’s Wrestlemania counterpart but had a less clear ending. Reigns speared Lesnar through a panel in the cage and both men came tumbling out onto the floor. Lesnar was named the winner for having landed on the floor first, but the rule is whichever competitors feet touch the ground first. Well on second glance that was Reigns. Is this a story point? Was this a mistake? Will it be part of the story going forward or ignored? This match seems to have caused more questions than answers.

Brock Lesner retains Universal Championship by escaping (?) the steel cage

50-Man Royal Rumble

The moment we all were waiting for! The largest Royal Rumble of all time. There’s no way to get people more excited then immediately throwing in everyone’s favorite everyman, Daniel Bryan. The match started with some exciting moments like the entrance of Hall of Famer Mark Henry and the surprise return of Hornswoggle at #12. The crowd was elated when legend Rey Mysterio came out at number #28. There was also a very amusing moment when entrant #39 Titus O’Neil tripped on his entrance, much to the humor of the announcers. The Great Khali made a huge albeit short appearance near the end and Shane McMahon went classic Shane going coast to coast on Braun Stroman. The crowd’s collective heart broke when Daniel Bryan was eliminated by Big Cass leaving just Cass and Braun Stroman in the ring. But at the end of the day, The Monster Among Men stood tall. He eliminated the 7 foot monster on his way to winning the Greatest Royal Rumble.

Fort Valley State Sorority Suspended While School Investigates Sexual Misconduct

The Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority chapter at Fort Valley State University has been suspended while the Georgia Bureau of Investigation continues its misconduct investigation.

Alecia Johnson, a Fort Valley State University official involved with a sorority at the center of an ongoing criminal investigation of sexual misconduct, has resigned. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and Channel 2 Action News Johnson, the University president’s former executive assistant, was hired in 2004.

The national sorority organization issued a statement saying it was “appalled to learn of allegations of sexual misconduct against a Fort Valley State University employee who also is a graduate member of the sorority.”

This is the latest major fraternity or sorority suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities in the wake of hazing and alcohol deaths.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who was shut down for hazing and the Lambda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

COED’s Official ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Review, A Film A Decade In The Making

0
0

Marvel

I went into this movie with a mixture of nerves and hope — hope that all the hype leading up to this would pay off. Needless to say, this film is a massive action packed journey from start-to-finish that a decade couldn’t even prepare you for until you witness the story come to fruition yourself.

Brace yourselves, spoilers are coming.

The Beginning of the End

Marvel

A huge theme in Infinity War is family. That might sound dull for a war film considering it’s a reoccurring narrative we’ve seen from the MCU, but this iteration tests the bonds of our heroes relationships to extremes we have never seen, let alone expected, with stakes higher than anything conceivable.

We open to the wreckage of the Asgardian ship with Thanos and the Black Order having killed what seems like all onboard. There’s no sign of Valkyrie. Heimdall uses the last of his energy to jettison a bi-frost channel which sends Hulk crashing down to Earth. Corvus Glaive immediately kills Heimdall while Thor looks on, helpless in despair, watching his friend die. Thanos already has the power stone, with all the action it would seem a bit pointless to watch him destroy Xandar, but the planet is gone all the same.

Loki emerges, trying to use his old tricks to gain the trust of Thanos by giving him the Tesseract. However, tricks aren’t the only thing Loki has up his sleeve, as his final attempt to save Thor by thrusting a knife into Thanos fails, and as Thanos chokes the life out of Loki, Loki tells Thanos with his dying breath, “You will never be a god.” He dies a final time, saving his brother in the process.

Meanwhile, Bruce Banner lands in the New York Sanctum where he meets Doctor Strange and Wong, telling them what happened and more importantly, what is about to come. Doctor Strange wastes no time bringing Tony Stark into the fold where back at the Sanctum he reunites with Banner and learns Thanos is the one behind everything, the puppet master, more importantly the battle of New York that haunted Tony from the first Avengers film in 2012. Wong explains the significance of the infinity stones to Stark and Banner who strongly advise Doctor Strange to destroy the time stone. No dice, it’s his duty to protect it and he isn’t giving up that easily.

Two members of the Black Order come to retrieve the time stone. At this point, Peter Parker’s spidey-sense begins to tingle. Ebony Maw (the most powerful of the group) abducts Doctor Strange only to have Iron Man and Spider-Man stowaway in the donut shape ship where Strange is being tortured. Luckily, Maw is cast out into the vacuum of space and the trio are stuck on a ship heading to Titan, the home world of Thanos. This certainly cannot end well.

Back in Space…

guardians of the galaxy 2 trailer

Marvel Studios

Thor lands on the Guardians ship and once awoken by Mantis tells them what transpired and who the man pulling the strings is: Thanos. Gamora knows his boundless cruelty better than anyone and upon learning he has not one, but two infinity stones, she takes Peter Quill aside and asks him something I don’t think anyone in the theater saw coming. Gamora tells Peter in an intimate moment we’ve never seen between the two before, she KNOWS where Thanos can find the soul stone. If Thanos gets his hands on her, she needs Peter to kill her so that knowledge dies too, only then would Thanos never wield all six infinity stones and have the power to wipe out half of life in the universe. Reluctantly, he agrees to do it if the time should come.

Not only does Thor know where to obtain a weapon that has the power to defeat Thanos, he embarks on a quest to meet the Dwarves of Nidavellir, the only creatures capable of forging weapons from a dying star. Rocket and Groot join Thor after winning his favor (Rocket also hooks Thor up with a new eye he had on hand, no surprise given his affinity for stealing mechanical body parts) and they make their way to Nidavellir where all but one dwarf survived the wrath of Thanos, Eitri, played by Peter Dinklage. Eitri confessed he made the Infinity Gauntlet for Thanos in order to spare his people, but why would a Mad Titan keep his word? After fixing the damage done by Thanos, Thor, with help from Eitri, Rocket, and Groot forge his new weapon: Stormbreaker.

Thor didn’t leave the Guardians empty handed. He told them that the reality stone was stored on Knowhere with The Collector, so they race to the stone in hopes of beating Thanos to the punch. Shockingly, this goes horribly wrong. Thanos is already there and in a fit of rage Gamora stabs him in an insanely emotional moment for both of them given their history. As it turns out, it was just an illusion created from the reality stone Thanos already took. He grabs Gamora, his favorite daughter, and as Quill emerges she begs him to shoot her. It’s too late. Thanos uses the space stone and disappears with Gamora to his ship and Peter, having failed her, knows they need to go to Titan and save her at all costs.

Once Thanos and Gamora are aboard his ship, he confesses he always wanted her to take his seat one day, and all the things he did that she now hates herself for becoming are in fact the parts of her that make her the strongest being in the galaxy. His sentiment repulses her. She wants no part in the life he forced her into. Giving her a push, Thanos takes her to a chamber where he has her sister Nebula suspended while being relentlessly tortured. Thanos knows Gamora can lead him to the soul stone and he is more than willing to kill Nebula in front of her to get her to talk. The screams of her sister are too much and Gamora finally breaks, telling him she located the stone on a planet called Vormir.

Here’s where shit gets real. Thanos brings Gamora with him to Vormir where they’re met by a hooded figure who turns out to be Red Skull!?! Guess we know where the space stone threw him all those years ago! He’s the protector of the soul stone, telling the pair it can only be obtained through sacrifice. A soul for a soul — more importantly the soul of someone you love above all else. Gamora scoffs at Thanos, telling him he can never have the stone because all he knows is death and has never once known love. As tears roll down the Mad Titan’s face, Red Skull says to Gamora, “The tears aren’t for him.” Thanos turns to Gamora, the child he raised, the only thing he has ever loved, and throws her from the cliff as he watches her die… a soul for a soul, indeed.

Back on Earth…

Marvel Studios

Vision is being hunted by the Black Order and Wanda is trying like hell to fight them off. Finally, when all hope seemed lost, Captain America, Black Widow, and Falcon come (literally) swooping in to rescue them. Bruce Banner thankfully gave Cap a heads up, with Stark stuck in space there’s no Civil War scheduled for today. The group heads to the Avengers Facility in upstate New York where they pick up War Machine and Banner and all hop in the jet to get Vision to Wakanda in one piece.

Similarly to the promise Gamora asked of Peter Quill, Vision asks Wanda to destroy the mind stone if they can’t find a way to remove it in time. Who says romance is dead? T’Challa meets the group with Bucky by his side and agrees to order all his forces to protect Wakanda and in turn Shuri will work on securing the mind stone from Vision in her lab. Just in time because not only have the remaining members of the Black Order arrived, but they brought an army of alien Outriders that easily outnumber the Wakandan army. I would tell you this doesn’t look good, but the movie has War in the title so you shouldn’t be too surprised.

Destiny Arrives

Youtube.com/Marvel

Youtube.com/Marvel

Back on Titan, Iron Man, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man await Thanos. To their surprise, they meet Star-Lord, Drax, and Mantis first, on a mission to rescue Gamora. While it takes a beat before they all realize they’re on the same side, they form a plan to steal the gauntlet from Thanos without him obtaining anymore stones. Before you know it, Thanos appears wielding a brand new soul stone. Nebula emerges looking for Gamora, but once she sees the stone she knows what Thanos had done. Quill relentlessly orders Thanos to give him Gamora… but he can’t.

Nebula tells him the only way he could have that stone is if he sacrificed her. This sets Quill off and the group haphazardly struggles to fight the Mad Titan. As Stark takes beating after beating Thanos drives a dagger into his side and before finishing him off for good, Doctor Strange offers up the time stone in exchange for sparing Tony’s life. This isn’t something Strange would do lightly, so he clearly has seen in the future that Stark still has a role to play if Thanos is ever to be defeated.

Now that Thanos has five stones, he transports to Wakanda where the last stone still resides. As an epic battle rages in the background, Vision tells Wanda they are out of time and she must destroy the stone. As if dying wasn’t bad enough, having your girlfriend do it adds an extra layer of feels to the mix. With Thanos approaching, Wanda blasts the stone (and Vision) apart in a Hail Mary to prevent an extinction level event. Oh, wait, Thanos has the time stone now and can just hit reverse and bring back Vision – TO DIE A SECOND TIME – ripping out the stone, completing the gauntlet once and for all.

With two good eyes and a freshly forged weapon, Thor makes a grand appearance, thrusting the axe into Thanos’s heart. It seems like Thor just saved the world, when Thanos whispers, “You should have aimed for my head” and just like that, snaps his fingers.

One by one we see our heroes crumble to ash, the victims include Doctor Strange, Peter Quill, Drax, Mantis, Groot, Spider-Man, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, Bucky Barnes, and in a post credit scene, Nick Fury and Maria Hill. Before Fury bites the big one, we see him send a signal on a handheld device. As Nick Fury falls to ashes, we see Captain Marvel’s symbol loaded on the beacon, a clear indication his distress call has been received and it’s time for her to join the fight.

So who survived? The confirmed survivors of Thanos are Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, (yay, the original team!) Rocket, Nebula, War Machine, Okoye, Shuri, and Wong. It absolutely confirms that Heimdall and Loki are dead, but with the unique circumstances of Gamora being the literal soul stone, there may be hope for her… and if we can hope she returns, maybe not all our heroes will remain piles of ash for long.

Mississippi Sorority Saves The Last Dance For WWII Veteran

A dying veteran in Mississippi had one final wish: to have one last dance with a beautiful woman. The Phi Mu sorority at the University of Southern Mississippi went above and beyond to grant his wish.

They hosted a dance with 92-year-old Paul Sonnier, a Navy Veteran of World World II, and made him the center of attention.

Jessica Moreau first met Sonnier when she worked as a social work intern at SouthernCare Hospice Services in Hattiesburg, MS.

“He said, ‘I’ll teach you the jitterbug and the waltz,’” Moreau said. “He’s a flirt, but in a nice way.”

During one of her visits, Sonnier told Moreau that his final wish would be to “dance with a beautiful woman.”

Phi Mu chapter president Cameron Ponder said the dance was a way to “honor someone that has done so much for our country.”

Family members of Sonnier said that he was in the Navy during the attack on Pearl Harbor and served during World War II, NEWS3 reports.

“What we appreciate the most is that our greatest generation member, my father, is happy that this younger generation appreciates everything that he did and sacrificed so they can sit here and have fun and have the freedoms that they have,” said Sonnier’s daughter, Ida Sonnier.

Jason Witten is a former tight end for the Dallas Cowboys and future NFL Hall of Famer. He announced his plans to retire after the 2017-2018 season and is planning on joining the “Monday Night Football” broadcast booth. Witten is 35, played college ball at the University of Tennessee, and was drafted by the Cowboys in the third round of the 2003 NFL Draft. Witten ranks second in all-time career receptions and receiving yards by an NFL tight end, trailing only Tony Gonzalez. He’s played an impressive 15 seasons in the league and has made an even more impressive 11 Pro Bowls.

Jason Witten Net Worth As Of 2018: $35 Million

You start to accumulate some serious cash if you spend 15 seasons in the world’s most profitable sports league. On top of that, if you consider that 11 of those 15 seasons you were voted as one of the best in your position, then all must be well at the bank. Let’s take a look back to see how one of the greatest tight ends to ever step on the field came to be.

Early Life

Jason Witten, 35, grew up in Elizabethton, Tennessee where he went to Elizabethton High School. Witten was a three-year starter playing both linebacker and tight end, while helping his team reach the state semifinals three times. His senior year he finished the season with 163 tackles, nine sacks, two interceptions, and five forced fumbles. As a tight end, he had 26 receptions and 14 touchdowns. He received countless accolades for his impressive senior year performance, including being named an All-American and USA Today Player of the Year in Tennessee. In 2000, Witten accepted a scholarship to play at the University of Tennessee.

Witten was initially promised by then head coach, Phillip Fulmer, that he would be able to play defensive end, his position of choice. After injuries impacted UT’s depth at tight end, he was asked to move to the other side of the ball on offense. Witten initially rejected the change and even considered transferring. Luckily for him and his career, he decided to stick it out. As a junior, he had a breakout year, setting school records for tight ends in receptions (39) and receiving yards (493) with five touchdowns. He decided to enter the NFL draft after his junior year. Witten was selected in the third round (69th overall) by the Dallas Cowboys. His long-time quarterback and great friend, Tony Romo, was picked up the same year by Dallas as an undrafted free agent.

2003-2017

Witten played all 15 seasons of his impressive NFL tenure for the Dallas Cowboys. His breakout season came in his second year when he recorded and NFC leading 87 catches. That year he was selected to his first Pro Bowl – in total, he went to 11 throughout his career. Throughout his 15 seasons with the Cowboys, he played in 239 games, had 1,152 receptions, 12,488 yards receiving, and 68 touchdowns. He also lost just eight fumbles.

At the end of the 2017-2018 season, Witten announced that he would retire from the game. He finished his career as an all-time great not only for the Cowboys but the NFL as well. Some highlights from his career records and achievements are being selected as 2012’s Walter Payton Man Of The Year, having the most receptions in a single season by a tight end (110), and having the 4th most receptions in NFL history with 1,152. Like his long-time friend, Tony Romo, he plans on stepping into the broadcast booth with plans of joining the “Monday Night Football” crew.

NFL Draft 2018 First Round: Best Twitter Reactions

0
0

The first-round of the 2018 NFL draft has concluded, and what a thrilling opening night it was. Not only was history made for the 32 players selected but NFL history, in general, occurred.

The night started off with a bang as the most polarizing player in this year’s draft, Baker Mayfield, was selected by the Cleveland Browns with the first overall pick. Quarterbacks became a common theme early in the first round. The New York Jets selected Sam Darnold third, Josh Allen to the Bills at seven, and Arizona Cardinals traded up to put Josh Rosen out of his green room misery with the tenth overall pick. It became the first time in NFL history four quarterbacks were selected within the first ten picks. Overall, five quarterbacks got chosen in the first round with Baltimore trading back into the first round at 32 to select Lamar Jackson. It’s fitting that the first-round opened with a QB and end with a QB.

Quarterbacks were not the only ones making history during the first round. Two brothers, Tremaine and Terrelle Edmunds, became the first set of brothers drafted in the first round, of the same draft. Tremaine went 16th overall to the Buffalo Bills, while Terrelle had to wait around until the Pittsburgh Steelers scooped him up with the 28th pick.

Another common theme throughout the first round, the presence of the two teams from this year’s college football national championship game. Seven of the first 32 picks came from either Alabama or Georgia. In all, the SEC had 10 of the 32 first-round picks, which led all conferences.

Now that we have covered the main storylines let’s take a look at how Twitter exploded.

Best Tweets From The NFL Draft

What a special moment that must have been for the two-time walk-on QB.

Philadelphia Eagles may not have made a selection in the first round but the voice of Philly sports radio took a shot at the rival Cowboys.

Jets fans had something to cheer about after snatching up QB Sam Darnold.

The other New York team went the running back route, selecting Saquon Barkley and this fan was not too happy about it.

Not all Giants fans were upset though.
