The 2018 Major League Baseball season just completed its first full week. We now have a large enough sample size to put together a power rankings list. Through the first week-plus of the young season, we have seen some teams with lofty expectations get off to slow starts. Also seen are some unlikely players step up and get off to a hot start.

For these power rankings, I will mostly rely on the actual results of what has occurred. Also, teams expectations and long-term sustainability will play a slight factor as well. I will then take a look at three teams and players who have gotten off to the best starts so far this season.

Boston Red Sox (8-1)

The Boston Red Sox have rebounded from an Opening Day let down to rack up eight straight wins. Opening Day for the Red Sox had all but gone perfectly through the first seven innings against the Tampa Bay Rays. Then, the bullpen ruined a one-hit dominate performance from Chris Sale to blow the game. Since that game, the Red Sox have continued their pitching dominance over opposing lineups. David Price has looked the best he has ever had since donning the Red Sox uniform. Chris Sale has been Chris Sale. Rick Porcello has been lights out, and Craig Kimbrel still holds a spot as one of the top 3 closers in the game at the moment. The offense has been nearly as good as the starting pitching. Xander Bogaerts bat has been alive during the Sox quick start leading the team in batting average (.368), home runs (2), and RBI (9). Hanley Ramirez has been clutch supplying two go-ahead extra innings hits. The Red Sox schedule will get a bit tougher this upcoming week with New York and Baltimore, can they keep up the hot start?

Houston Astros (8-2)

The defending World Series champions have not missed a beat from last season. The Astros have quickly jumped out of the gate winning eight of their first ten games. Houston looks poised to go on another deep playoff run. It’s tough to not hand the Astros the number 1 ranking with how impressive they have been. It’s almost a 1A, 1B situation right now with Boston. The hitting has been spread out down the entire lineup. Altuve continues to find ways to consistently get on-base, and Josh Reddick and Carlos Carrera have provided the power numbers. The Astros pitching has been outstanding as well, allowing 2 or fewer runs in six of their ten games.

Los Angeles Angels (7-3)

The L.A. Angels have been the surprise team so far in this young MLB season. They can thank Shohei Ohtani for the unlikely hot start. The highly coveted two-way international player seemed confused and overwhelmed all through spring training. Well, that has completely changed since the regular season started. Ohtani’s play to start the season has the Angels organization saying “I told you so.” Even with Mike Trout off to a slow start by his standards, the Angels look like the team who will provide the best competition to the Astros in the AL West.

Top Players:

Bryce Harper (Washington Nationals): There is no one off to a hotter start than Nationals star Bryce Harper. He is batting .357 with a league-leading six home runs, and 12 RBI. Harper is in a contract season, and I expect his hot hitting to continue all year.

David Price (Boston Red Sox): What has gotten into David Price? This is not the guy of the past two seasons. In his two starts Price has gone seven innings in both and has not allowed a run. This is what Red Sox fans were expecting when he signed the 7-year $217 mil contract in 2015.

Shohei Ohtani (LA Angels): In spring training Ohtani looked like a bust, with some calling for him to start the season in the minors. Through two games as a starting pitcher and 18 at-bats, the two-way player has been anything but a bust. In fact, he looks like an all-star. Ohtani is hitting .389 with three home runs and seven RBI. As a pitcher, he has struck out 18 batters and is off to a 2-0 start.

It’s finally time. After the long 82-game marathon known as the regular season, the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to begin Wednesday night. Both the Eastern and Western Conference matchups are set, and every series is ready to have a storyline written, however many games it takes. In the West, there’s a new kid on the block, several teams making their return, and powerhouses ready to steamroll their way to the Cup Final. Here’s the preview of each first-round matchup in the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

Nashville Predators (1) vs. Colorado Avalanche (WC2)

The Nashville Predators path back to the Stanley Cup Final gets an unexpected twist as they face the rebuilt Colorado Avalanche in round one. These two clubs took completely different routes to this year’s postseason. Following a crushing six-game defeat to the Penguins last June, the Predators have been on a mission from training camp till now. Peter Laviolette’s crew was the top team in the NHL all season, all resulting in the franchise first Central Division Title and President’s Trophy. Nashville’s attack is one of the most well balanced in the game while their blue line (P.K. Subban, Roman Josi, Ryan Ellis, Mattias Ekholm) is revered as the most talented over the past two years. Elite puckstopper Pekka Rinne had a Vezina worthy campaign and put up his best career numbers to date.

No one in their right mind thought the Colorado Avalanche were anywhere close to a playoff team, at least for another two or three seasons. Apparently, they didn’t get the message, clinching a playoff berth on the last day of the regular season. After an early season shakeup (Matt Duchene trade), Avs forward Nathan MacKinnon took the ball and hasn’t stopped running, putting him in talks for MVP. The Preds and Avs could be a quick series, but a one seed versus eight seed matchup always has intrigue.

Vegas Golden Knights (1.) vs. Los Angeles Kings (WC1)

It’s been 38 years, but an expansion team will make their playoff debut. That first-year club, the Vegas Golden Knights, will be tasked with facing the Los Angeles Kings in round one. These two teams formed a rivalry over the course of this year, resulting in a split of the four games.

The Golden Knights were the greatest story in the NHL this season. Their magnificent start to the season, turning T Mobile Arena into one of loudest home-ice advantages in the league, and their rag-tag group of misfits have all contributed to what was a special year in Sin City. William Karlsson, who only scored six goals before being selected by Vegas, turned in to a 40-plus goal man. Vegas’s firepower and speed throughout the lineup made them exciting to watch every night, playoffs will be no different. Three-time Cup winner Marc-Andre Fleury will provide so much needed playoff experience to a raw Golden Knights squad.

Los Angeles is making their return to the postseason after falling short a year ago. The Kings, under new bench boss John Stevens, fought all year long tooth and nail to make the playoffs, while a ton of credit should go the Anze Kopitar, who rebounded wonderfully this season after a down year in 2016-17. LA received another great campaign from linchpin Drew Doughty and the likes of Dustin Brown, Tyler Toffoli, and Jake Muzzin. Jonathan Quick backstopped LA to two Cups in three years. And after the sound season he had, Quick is more than capable of doing it again.

Being this is Vegas first go around in the playoffs, this series will be memorable, but the Kings experience could make for a fascinating program between the two clubs.

Anaheim Ducks (2) vs. San Jose Sharks (3)

It wouldn’t be the NHL playoffs without a California rivalry. Well once again, fans will be treated to an excellent showdown between the Ducks and Sharks. This round will mark just the second time these teams have met in the postseason. The first being back in 2009, where the Ducks defeated the Sharks in six games in the Conference Quarterfinals.

Anaheim is in their sixth straight postseason and second under head coach Randy Carlyle. His Ducks squad played well the entire season, and All-Star center Rickard Rakell led the charge with top veterans Corey Perry and Ryan Getzlaf on his coattails. Anaheim defense — full of 20 somethings — has performed well all year, all the while turning in to one of the more dependable blue lines in the sport. Goalkeeper John Gibson operated at a Vezina caliber, and he’s looking to carry the Ducks to playoff success.

On the other hand, the San Jose Sharks are only two years removed from their first Stanley Cup appearance in team history. The Sharks kept pace in the Pacific all year but were really put over the top when they acquired Evander Kane at the trade deadline. Beyond the Kane addition, San Jose this year received substantial contributions from Logan Couture, Joe Pavelski, and the Beardman, Brent Burns. Martin Jones held the fort down in net with another 30-win season, and he’s pushing to get the Sharks back to the place they were not so long ago.

This is a tough series to predict. But, expect some smash mouth, in your face games that could set the bar in the West.

Winnipeg Jets (2) vs. Minnesota Wild (3)

This series could be described as a heavyweight bout. Winnipeg and Minnesota are Central Division rivals, and if the regular season games they played this year indicate what the playoffs will be like, hockey fans will be glued to every minute. Thursday will be the first time the two teams have met in the postseason. The Jets took the season series 3-1.

This scenario has been coming a long time for the Jets. They made their only playoff appearance back in 2014-15, but they have been building since then for a season and hopeful playoff run. Boasting the second best goal-scorer in the NHL, Patrik Laine, and a phenomenal top-six, the Jets are top heavy and can score at will. On defense, Winnipeg has a nice mix of old and young that are capable of giving the Wild fits. Sticking with a theme, possible Vezina nominee, Connor Hellebuyck, developed this year into a strong presence in net.

Bruce Boudreau’s Minnesota Wild stuck around the top of the Central all season and proved they are on the same level as Winnipeg and Nashville. The Wild are in the playoffs for the sixth consecutive spring, but this time they are built to go farther than years past. Forward Eric Staal was a revelation from the first drop of the puck, while his mates, Mikael Granlund and Jason Zucker, enjoyed their best campaigns as a pro. Missing defensive stalwart Ryan Suter is a blow, but his partner Matt Dumba and the rest of Minnesota’s defense can carry the load. Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk is ready to make his impact felt and lead his team deep into May or June.

Winnipeg and Minnesota were two of the best home teams in the league all season. Whoever finds the way to win on the road, could be the deciding factor.

Jenna Fischer is an American actress best known for her portrayal of Pam Beesly on the NBC sitcom The Office. For her role as Pam, Fischer which she was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series in 2007.

Other than The Office, Fischer has appeared in such films as Blades of Glory, Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story, The Promotion, and Hall Pass. On television, Fischer has also appeared as Rhonda McNeil in the NBC’s comedy-drama series You, Me and the Apocalypse and now stars on the ABC show, Splitting Up Together.

Fischer is also a published author, with her first book, The Actor’s Life: A Survival Guide, being was published in November 2017. The book featured an introduction by her The Office co-star Steve Carell. In 2018, Fischer portrayed Heidi Skarlatos in the Clint Eastwood-directed film The 15:17 to Paris.

Fischer is married to screenwriter Lee Kirk. Their first child, a boy named Weston Lee Kirk, was born on September 24, 2011. Fischer gave birth to the couple’s second child, a daughter named Harper Marie Kirk, on May 25, 2014.

Police in Connecticut have arrested a man identified as David Wachta over a verbal threat against Stafford Middle School this past Friday, where he was believed to have worked as a custodian, which caused local schools in the area to be placed on lockdown this Monday, ultimately impacting five schools.

What happened?

According to WFSB, two witnesses provided statement claiming that the suspect involved with the story had planned to “shoot up the school,” leading to an arrest warrant being drafted and approved. Eventually, Wachta surrendered himself to the Stafford resident state trooper’s office. According to WCVB, troopers said they received the complaint about threats against the school at 7:43 A.M.

As mentioned, a “soft lockdown” was put in place as a precaution, although it has since been lifted; Wachta turned himself into the trooper’s office after the lockdown had been put in place at around 11:50 A.M. Student activities were not directly impacted by the lockdown but students were not allowed outside, for recess and other activities. According to the Hartford Courant, Steven Moccio, superintendent of schools, confirmed that a total of five schools were impacted by the lockdown, including Stafford Middle School.

That said, it is believed that police are still investigating the situation.

Who is David Wachta?

David Wachta is believed to have worked as a custodian or janitor at the school. He was 58 at the time of the incident and he is believed to be a native of Monson, Massachusetts.

As mentioned, he eventually turned himself into police after a warrant was issued against him, although he notably turned himself in a few hours after the school he threatened and four other schools in the area were placed on lockdown.

At this time, he is currently charged with second-degree breach of peace and first-degree threatening. With his bond set at $100,000, he is set to appear in Rockville Superior Court on Tuesday.

Following a manhunt that began in East Ridge, Tennessee and spanned multiple states, Casey James Lawhorn, a man who confessed over Facebook to fatally shooting his mother and his friend, has been found dead in Vossburg, Mississippi from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot.

According to ABC, Lawhorn admitted in the now-deleted Facebook post to shooting “a close friend,” since identified as Avery Gaines, and then his own mother, Vi Lawhorn, at around 1:30 in the morning on Sunday, April 8. In the post, Lawhorn states he is “almost 24,” claims he was struggling in college, and that he used a “stolen .22 LR rifle” to commit the murders.

Lawhorn further claimed in the Facebook post to be writing it from the side of I-95, where his car had broken down, though it is unconfirmed whether this is the same spot where the Jasper County Sheriff’s Department eventually confirmed an abandoned Gold Taurus to be his.

According to an earlier report by ABC, East Ridge police dispatchers received a call following the Facebook post on Sunday evening from a man they believed to be Lawhorn. In the phone call, Lawhorn directed police to the location of the bodies, admitted to the killings, and told police he was headed to a location north of the city to commit suicide.

In the graphic and confessional Facebook post, which was over 1,000 words long, Lawhorn describes the murders in detail. He admits to shooting his friend once in the head while he slept on the Lawhorns’ couch, before entering his mother’s room and firing twice into the dark.

“She screamed the worst scream I’ve ever heard,” he wrote. “Movies really don’t do justice to how true terror sounds.”

The first two shots were non-fatal, according to Lawhorn, and so, after unjamming the gun, he turned the lights on in the room and fired twice more.

“The whole event took probably 3 or 4 minutes,” he wrote. “I had hoped both were going to be quick and efficient. I didn’t want my mom to suffer, to die in horror, to die with the knowledge that her son did it.”

While Lawhorn admits in the post to struggling in school and contemplating suicide, no specific motive has been identified.

“What I look forward to is the nothingness after death,” he wrote, in concluding the post. “I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about murder, wondering what it feels like. But I’ve barely felt anything.”

Ah, siblings, one of the few relationships that you can’t choose. Love them or hate them, they’re in your life, and they can either be the best or most annoying people in your life (most likely a little bit of both.) In honor of our siblings, let’s take a look at some of the facts of National Siblings Day and how it came into being.

What is National Siblings Day?

Well, as the name implies, it is the day where we all take a moment to reflect on the relationship we have with our brothers and/or sisters. We have Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, so it’s only right that we also take some time to honor our siblings. I say honor in the loosest sense because let’s face it siblings can be crazy infuriating and that stretches into adulthood. If I had a dollar for every time I overheard my sisters fighting with each other when I was growing up, I wouldn’t have to be working right now. I’d be on an island somewhere counting my millions.

The holiday was Claudia Evart, who sought a way to honor her brother and sister, both of whom had tragically died at early ages. The Siblings Day Foundation was incorporated in 1997 and achieved non-profit status by 1999.

It has not been Federally recognized yet like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, but the Siblings Day Foundation is working to change that. 49 states have currently issued proclamations declaring it a holiday. As of now, California is the only state that has yet to do so.

Carolyn Maloney, during her time as a United States Representative for New York, officially saluted the holiday in Congress and got it entered into the Congressional Record.

Following an investigation into possible alcohol-related violations, Alpha Epsilon Pi at Washington University has been placed on a yearlong social probation. The fraternity was found guilty of alcohol-related violations on April 5. Rob Wild, the Associate Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs at Washington University, said that the fraternity had multiple violations regarding alcohol. The fraternity was placed on interim suspension back in late February.

According to Student Life, the independent student newspaper of Washington University in St. Louis, Alpha Epsilon Pi (also known as AEPi) members were notified of the newfound sanctions on Thursday, April 5. In addition to the yearlong social probation, AEPi must also meet with Campus Life, complete a revised risk management plan and attend University training modules on the topics of bystander intervention and serving alcohol at events.

The fraternity’s probation will be in effect until March 1, 2019. During that time, the fraternity will no longer be eligible to host social events inside their house at off-campus houses.

In response to incidents like these, other fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

These reports come amidst similar allegations that have been made against fraternities nationwide, including Sigma Alpha Epsilon at East Carolina University, who were shut down for hazing and the Lamda Chi Alpha chapter at the University of Arkansas which has been accused of taking sexually explicit photographs of women without their permission.

In response to incidents like these, fraternities such Phi Kappa Psi have made numerous changes to their code of conduct in an effort to address the issues that have arisen. In addition, schools such as Texas State have introduced new Greek Life rules to try and prevent these problems.

On April 10th, 2018, at 10 P.M. HBO will be releasing a new documentary, Andre The Giant, based on the life of Andre Rene Roussimoff, better known to all of us as Andre the Giant. It doesn’t matter if you’re a wrestling fan or not, it’s hard to find someone who doesn’t know who Andre the Giant is. In the ring, he represented an enormous obstacle for anyone who dared enter it. Outside the ring, he often represented a larger than life character we found endearing and lovable much like his character Fezzik in The Princess Bride. The Documentary will cover who Andre was behind the scenes. The Andre we didn’t get to see. With interviews with WWE CEO Vince McMahon, former WWE rival Hulk Hogan, Golden Globe-winning actress Robin Wright, and a Myriad of others who knew the big man when the cameras weren’t running, it’ll be a compelling look behind the curtain of who the Giant really was.

Early Life and Wrestling

Andre was born near Grenoble, France, and his parents were of Slavic descent. Andre showed signs of giganticism early, growing to over six feet tall before he reached 13. At 17, he moved to Paris to train to become a wrestler. He started his career in Europe and Canada before finding his way to the World Wide Wrestling Federation, the promotion that would become the WWF and then WWE, in 1973. Andre would become a mainstay for the promotion. Billed as an unstoppable force and nearly unbeatable, he was a living representation of an unstoppable foe best represented in his massive bout with Hulk Hogan at Wrestlemania III that was one of the most significant events of 1987.

He racked up a litany of accolades in and out of the WWE, then known as the WWF. He was a one time WWF Heavyweight and Tag Team Champion and wrestled with other major promotions like New Japan Pro Wrestling and All Japan Pro Wrestling. Andre was also the sole inaugural inductee in the WWF Hall of Fame in 1993 and lends his namesake to The Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. It is a match that has taken place at the last five Wrestlemanias, and the winner is awarded a giant trophy with a statue of Andre himself on the top. He was a legend in the ring. But he also made a name for himself in another arena… drinking.

Andre the Drinker

Andre the Giant is well known for his ability to drink so much it would make Thor blush. Known for drinking wine bottles like the average person drinks a can of beer, the man has a line of wrestlers who openly vouch for his unholy ability to drink. Hulk Hogan has told stories of Andre drinking over 100 beers in less than an hour in an airport and 12 bottles of wine on a three-hour bus trip. Even Ric Flair has accounts of Andre clearing planes of their Vodka inventory. If The Nature Boy Rick Flair talks about how intensely you can throw down, that is an accomplishment.

If you tuned into the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony this past Wrestlemania weekend, you were treated to a story by Hillbilly Jim that involved the Giant. He spoke of how Andre and himself cleared the plane of their entire liquor supply. Jim said on a flight from Miami, Florida to Dayton, Ohio they combined to drink 57 of the small airplane bottles of liquor. Jim claims he only accounted for eight of them. When a flight attendant went to the captain to inform him of what was transpiring in the cabin, he came out to address the two men. Upon seeing the two massive wrestlers, whos combined weight was over 800 lbs., he immediately turned back around and returned to the cockpit. And no one can blame him…

Andre’s story is full of jovial accounts of his drinking. But this documentary will also address the dark side of it all. He didn’t just drink for fun, he drank to numb himself. Often in pain due to his gigantism, he needed an escape and standing 7′ 4″ and weighing 500 lbs. It took an inhuman amount to get himself to the state it took for him to get through the day. At a point, it went from fun, to destructive.

Andre in Pop Culture

Andre the Giant was more than a wrestler. He was a pop-culture icon. His size was often treated like a modern day sideshow attraction. People loved comparing their own height and hand size to the massive bruiser. His size and distinct accent made him a character all his own, sneaking into TV shows and movies. His most famous was in the aforementioned cult classic, The Princess Bride. Andre endeared himself to audiences as the lovable sidekick to Mandy Patinkin. Andre showed he could be a commodity outside of the ring. In a dose of irony to that, The Princess Bride was released the same year as his titanic Wrestlemania III match with Hulk Hogan, 1987. It seemed he would be set for a career in the spotlight. Unfortunately, it didn’t pan out that way for Andre.

Andre would go on to make a few more appearances for WWE over the next few years and would finish his career with All Japan Pro Wrestling in 1992. On January 27, 1993, Andre the Giant passed away while in Paris for his father’s funeral. He was 46 years old. Andre was a legend. A Giant among men. It is only fitting that he receives an in-depth look at his life.If you are interested in hearing about the life of Andre Rene Roussimoff, tune in to HBO on April 10th at 10 P.M.

WrestleMania 34: Results, Live Updates & Highlights

Fear The Walking Dead is returning for Season 4 this Sunday, April 15, 2018. With the fresh addition of The Walking Dead original cast member, Morgan Jones, the world of Fear is about to get a whole lot more dangerous… than it already was.

The show now takes place in Texas, which makes the Clark family trek originating in California, sailing down to Mexico, crossing the boarder back to the United States, and now leaving the ranch to find a new settlement. The varying locations the show and presented not only gives the audience a larger picture of how the country was initially impacted by the viral outbreak, but how different cultures and backgrounds handle the situation quite differently. It’s a wider look at the world from what we’ve seen in The Walking Dead, being settled in Georgia/Virginia for the entirety of the narrative.

New Cast Members

While the show left a lot of room for cast additions… due to all the dead bodies at the end of last season, we have several new characters to talk about entering the world of Fear.

Lennie James aka Morgan Jones

We first met Morgan in Season 1 Episode 1 of The Walking Dead where he saved the life of show protaganist Rick Grimes. He returned sporadically throughout the 8 years until rejoining the group for good two seasons ago. Morgan has been having a rough time as of late, literally walking away from the only people he’s ever known due to how overwhelming the war with The Saviors became and his inability to cope with the constant loss of life. Adding Morgan to the mix is the ultimate wildcard. He could be the group’s biggest asset or murder them in their sleep. A major reason people will be tuning in this season is to see just which side of the coin Morgan lands on.

Jenna Elfman aka Naomi

As discussed in Entertainment Weekly, Elfman talks about her character and the role she has to play in the world of Fear. 

“Naomi’s a capable survivor we’ll meet living on her own early on in the season,” explains co-showrunner Andrew Chambliss of this new face on the show played by Dharma & Greg‘s Jenna Elfman. “She’ll have her guard up as she crosses paths with Madison and her family, and — as we’ll learn over the course of the season — she’ll have a very good reason for keeping people at a distance. Even so, she’ll end up developing some connections that surprise her, including a bond with Alicia.”

Maggie Grace aka Althea

Entertainment Weekly got the scoop on Althea’s role as well.

“Althea is someone who is uniquely qualified to survive — to thrive, even — in this world because of who she was before the apocalypse,” says co-showrunner Ian Goldberg of the new character being played by Lost alum Maggie Grace. “When we meet her, we’ll find she has, in many ways, picked up right where she left off before the world collapsed. The eighth and final season of Game Of Thrones has long been guaranteed to be an epic event, but now it seems as though it may feature things we’ve never seen before on television … and maybe even in the movies.

According to Watchers on the Wall (the go-to blog for all things Game of Thrones), the cast and crew of the HBO fantasy epic just wrapped a 55 consecutive night shoot of what’s reportedly a massive battle. That length — almost two months –is more than double the amount of time it took to film their previous large-scale action scenes such as “Hardhome”, “Battle of the Bastards” and “Beyond the Wall”.

Jonathan Quinlan, an assistant director on Thrones posted a thank you note to the cast and crew on Instagram, claiming that what they’ve done will result in something “that’s never been done before.” Sure, that may be setting the bar a little high, bu

The note cites “the cold, the snow, the rain, the mud, the sheep shit of Toome”, in reference to the Winterfell set in Moneyglass, Toome; as well as “the winds of Magheramorne.” In the caption below the photo, Quinlan helpfully added: “Says it all. 55 consecutive nights. 11 weeks. 3 locations. You’ll never again see anything like it.”

These two and a half months of shooting more than double the previous record for a Game of Thrones battle shoot—which likely already was a TV record, as well. Unless the upcoming King’s Landing shoot dethrones it, which seems unlikely, this battle of Winterfell will be the biggest, most expensive action scene we’ve ever seen on TV. Of course, shooting time doesn’t necessarily translate to screen time, so this may or may not be the longest battle in the show, but it will certainly be the most elaborate.

As for the “3 locations” Quinlan makes reference to, aside from the obvious Moneyglass and Magheramorne (specified by the producers’ note and reported on by us for months), the mystery location could be Saintfield, in which we know they filmed but little else.

What could possibly take 55 days to shoot? Well, likely the final battle (or battles) of the show: the living versus the dead, the light versus the dark, the fire versus the ice. Honestly, I’m getting a semi just thinking about it. Let’s more on.

As we come upon the start of playoffs here are some of the major contenders: Nashville and Tampa Bay are the primary teams looking good for the final two. But there’s always a wildcard possibility like the New Jersey Devils, finding their way to the last two. The lineup of  top 4 ranking predictions for the 2018 Stanley Cup are as follows:

The Predators have had one great season this year, but with the Lightning following close behind them, the true spot for number one is still up for grabs. The Las Vegas Golden Knights might even be the first expansion team to make it to the final two. It’s still too early to tell, but these teams are definitely the ones to follow during the cup.

We’ll see if Malkin and Kopitar will power ahead of him in these upcoming games. Tampa Bay may be on top now but I’d love to see a wildcard candidate like Taylor Hall of the New Jersey Devils bring this trophy home.

The Vezina Trophy Candidates:

The Vezina Trophy is given to the league’s best goaltender, and is considered to be a tough award to earn as playing between the pipes isn’t exactly an easy position.

Andrei Vasilevskiy was originally the top contender for this award but got a literal rust during the home stretch. Which luckily didn’t prove to be critical for Tampa Bay in clinching their playoff spot. It looks like Pekka Rinne could be taking this one home after his astounding season. The Predators have truly proved themselves this season, this could be an easy win for Pekka Rinne.

2. Drew Doughty, Los Angeles Kings
3. P.K. Subban, Nashville Predators

The Norris Trophy is given to the NHL’s best defensive player. P.K. Subban and John Carlson are likely to go head to head for this award. While John Klingberg even with his offensive break won’t get the recognition he rightly deserves, due to the Dallas Stars rough regular season end. Which excluded them from the Stanley Cup playoffs.

These next couple of weeks will prove to be extremely crucial to the players. This will determine their fate as trophy contenders. Only the best will rise. The Tampa Bay Lightning and The Nashville Predators have the potential to make it to the final two. As long as they continue playing how they’ve been, either one of them could have it in the bag!

Wrestlemania 34 was a very eventful night as most of the WWE Superstars were in action. There were titles changes and moments that undoubtedly that left many fans surprised and entertained by the event. This show was not predictable, to say the least as most of the results were not anticipated and blew away fans expectations. This will be about the takeaways from all the Wrestlemania 34 matches and what the outcomes could lead to in the future.

WWE Intercontinental Championship: Triple Threat

The first match of the night started off hot as The Miz (c) challenged “The Demon King” Finn Balor and “The Kingslayer” Seth Rollins. In an entertaining and exciting match, Seth Rollins came away with the victory using the  Curb Stomp. With this Wrestlemania win, Seth is officially a “Grandslam Champion” and new Intercontinental Champion. From here Seth may have to continue his program with The Miz or start a one on one program with Finn Balor. A high profile singles feud is what Finn Balor needs to solidify himself as another top contender in the WWE. For Seth Rollins, he will most likely be a fantastic champion and probably have great matches every month, and with a feud with Finn Balor, he can tear the house down every week. These two wrestlers have a history with one another as Rollins injured Balor a few months back, and this could also be a prominent factor in this feud if WWE decides to promote it.

WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship

The first big surprise of the night was during this championship match when Charlotte Flair defeated, the previously undefeated Asuka. The win is a monumental moment as Asuka had not been defeated since debuting in WWE in 2015. Many fans thought that they would continue this trend through Wrestlemania as she would beat Charlotte and become the champion. That was not the case, and Charlotte submitted Asuka in the middle of the ring. The match ended with Asuka telling Charlotte she was ready for her and they embraced. WWE truly surprised the fans with this outcome because they had build Asuka up as a monster for years. Charlotte was an excellent choice to defeat the streak, and the match was so good that it does not take anything away from Asuka as a competitor, and puts another notch on Charlottes belt as being one of the best performers in WWE. The feud seems to be over for now, and with Asuka not turning on Charlotte it looks as though they may go their separate ways for now. In a few months though they may go for back to this feud.

WWE United States Championship: Fatal Four Way

The United States championship was on the line as the champion Randy Orton faced Bobby Roode, Jinder Mahal, and Rusev. In an entertaining match full of chants of Rusev and “Glorious” and number of RKO’s delivered, Jinder Mahal eventually won the title by pinning Rusev in the middle of the ring. The WWE Universe is still puzzled at the push that Jinder Mahal is getting in the recent months as they feel as though he is not a top-tier talent and should not be champion. This is why Jinder winning the championship works so well. He is a character hated by all fans, and how he brags that he is from India and better than them, he makes a great villain to hold the US Championship. I feel a that the next opponent for Jinder to face next should be Rusev because of the history they have together and also because Rusev is so popular right now, as well as Jinder pinned Rusev in the match. He has the most fan support and momentum through his whole career right now, and with a villain as hated as Jinder, he could have the fans rally behind him in the coming weeks.

Triple H and Stephanie McMahon vs. “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle

A highly anticipated match that shocked many fans, this match may have been the best on the card and had the fans involved the most. Triple H and Stephanie have played great villains in the past, and they went full force during this feud. Kurt Angle returned to action as well a Ronda Rousey debuting coming over from UFC it made for a must-see match. Ronda surprised everyone with her athletic ability, timing, selling and overall demeanor. She is a huge wrestling fan, and she showed her respect for the business. This match resulted in Ronda tapping out Stephanie which what every WWE fan wanted to see since WrestleMania 31. With her performance, Ronda may return to a WWE ring in the future. Since she is such a massive star, it would not make sense to put her in a meaningless feud, so a championship program makes the most sense. WWE would get significant mainstream publicity, and if she wins, the ratings would be huge.

WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship: Triple Threat

In the of the least anticipated matches, The newly repackaged Bludgeon Brothers defeated the pancake throwing New Day and the former champions the Usos. In a short but fun match, Luke Harper won with a massive powerbomb for the win. The Bludgeon Brothers new gimmick has seemingly worked out for them, and they desperately needed this win. As monsters, they needed an excellent dominating performance, and they delivered. From here they should hold their titles with dominating wins, and not let them lose steam coming from this match

John Cena vs. The Undertaker

Another surprising event is that The Undertaker finally made his return after weeks of John Cena taking digs at him on Raw. It was a strange match as Undertaker never mentioned why he returned, or why he had this match. He had a fantastic send-off last year, so the reason why he wanted to return is questionable. This match was not much as Undertaker hit all of his signature spots and defeated John Cena decisively. I feel the results of this match will not lead to anything and Undertaker will disappear once more. John Cena may face Elias to continue their feud, but it does not mean anything. It could be an excuse to have John Cena on Raw every week. John Cena may also leave once again to film a movie, but not much is known at this time.

Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn

This match was built around Daniel Bryan and his much-anticipated return, and it delivered. Although he was out of action two years ago for numerous concussions, he was finally medically cleared to wrestle again. After sitting out at the beginning of the match, he was eventually tagged in and ran wild in the ring, hitting all of his signature moves. It was indeed a great moment which leads Bryan getting the submission win at the end. In the storyline, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn are now officially fired, but they will return soon and most likely have a feud with Bryan. WWE may take their time before putting him back in the title picture but when he does the crowd will be right behind him.

WWE Raw Women’s Championship

This match consisted of the bully Alexa Bliss beating on Nia Jax. It was a fun little match that showcased Nia Jax power and resulted in a win. Nia Jax plays a great babyface, and it is hard to root against her while Alexa Bliss is also so hateable that the dynamic worked. This feud has been build up for months, and it had a great culmination with Nia Jax winning the title. This feud will most likely continue in Raw since Alexa is owed a rematch. Jax should retain her title for a few months and see how the WWE Universe response to her.

WWE Championship Match

A hugely anticipated match Aj Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura was built as a dream match. A match that some people felt underdelivered, Aj and Nakumura put everything they had on the line. The bout picked up towards the end with the near falls and the final reversal that lead to the win. Even though it wasn’t the best match these two have had together, it was just the beginning because Nakamura eventually turned on Aj at the end. I feel Nakamura can play a fantastic heel and their future matches will have violence and an element of hatred that this one did not have. Nakamura was immediately booed after this turn. In the beginning, I felt it would be hard for WWE to get fans to boo Shinsuke but Aj is so loved by fans that I feel as though they made the right call since he was not in such a prominent position since coming to the main roster. I feel as though Shinsuke may win the title but then eventually face Daniel Bryan in the future which many fans want to see.

WWE Raw Tag Team Championship

In a match that just confused most fans, Braun Stroman stated that his partner would be one of the fans and he choose a child named Nicolas from the crowd. The match was not much of anything but Braun beating up The Bar until he eventually won on his own. Since Braun and Nicolas are the new champions everyone wants to know what will happen next, will Nicolas be able to defend his title, will Brawn have to vacate the title? I feel Stroman will pick a fan every week to be his partner in a match and this will be the new gimmick for him until he eventually loses.

WWE Universal Championship

Brock Lesner vs. Roman Reigns was rejected by the fans with roaring boos and chants of boring. Many fans did not want this match to happen because it would be too predictable. It is hard to say if this were by design because the result of the match surprised everyone in the arena as they thought Roman would conquer the beast and gain the title. The match picked up when Roman became covered in blood by Brocks’ elbow to the head. Many people speculated that Brock would be leaving to go back to the UFC after the match, but it looks like that is not true. Brock is holding the title for a little longer so who is his next opponent? It is too soon to tell, but it would make sense if Roman challenged him once more at the upcoming PPV.

Nicolle Rochelle, often credited as Nicole Leach, is an American actress who was born in Livington, New Jersey. Rochelle attended Montclair High School before attending Brown University, where she studied linguistic anthropology.

On Monday, April 9, 2018, Rochelle was identified as the topless protester who charged at Bill Cosby as he was entering a Philadelphia courtroom for his retrial. According to reports, Rochelle leaped over a barricade and launched toward Cosby but was stopped by sheriff’s deputies. She was taken into custody in handcuffs.

Photos from the scene show that Rochelle had “Women’s Lives Matters” and the names of the alleged victims written in red ink on her chest, stomach and back. There is no word what Rochelle is being charged with at this time.

Opening arguments for Cosby’s retrial began on Monday, April 9. His first trial ended in Spring of 2017 after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict despite having five days of deliberations. Cosby, the 80-year-old who was once considered “America’s Dad”, faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault. Each of those counts punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Cosby says that the sexual contact was consensual.

Rochelle’s IMDB page  credits her with appearing alongside Bill Cosby in small roles on The Cosby Show between 1990 and 1992. Her IMDB page also says she has appeared Chappelle’s Show, Law & Order and NYPD Blue.

Deborah Lowe, a 53-year-old married teacher, has been accused with one of her students while she was his teacher at a Greater Manchester school. Lowe pleaded not guilty to one count of sexual activity with a child and five counts of sexual activity with a child by a person in a position of trust.

According to reports, Lowe also allegedly had phone sex with the boy, fondled and masturbated him, and had sex with him on a second occasion at her home. Lowe denies all the charges, which allegedly took place between April 2015 and June 2016.

Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

In addition, 31-year-old Nicole Marie Andrews, 32-year-old Jessica Langford, 29-year-old Andrea Baber, 27-year-old Robin Dunlap, 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro have also been charged with these charges.

42-year-old Heather Butts of California was arrested on a second-degree felony charge, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges.

What The Hell Happened This Weekend? A Recap Of All The Headlines You Missed-4/8

Philip Roper, a 22-year-old student at the University of the South has been indicted by a grand jury after a fraternity house caught fire on campus. Roper was arrested on Monday, April 9.

According to the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, on February 24th, crews contained a fire at the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house on the Sewanee campus.

The fire was contained to a stage area inside at the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity house on the Sewanee campus. During the course of the investigation, authorities determined the fire was intentionally set.

Roper was arrested on Monday, April 9 and charged with one count of arson and one count of burning personal property. He was booked into the Franklin County Jail on $7,500 bond.

That is all the information available at this time.

Benjamin Bishop: Charged With Arson To Annoy Girlfriend

In a message issued on Facebook, Windham Public Schools in Connecticut announced that they were altered by local police over a shooting in the area. With the suspects fleeing the scene, schools in the district are being put on lockdown/shelter in place, meaning public people are not permitted inside or outside the building.

What happened?

The Facebook message, which was issued in both English and Spanish, can be read below:

“As of 8:45 AM we have been notified by the State Police that there has been a shooting in the Windham Heights area. The suspects have fled the area and all schools are in lockdown/shelter in place. According to WFSB, the shooting took place in Willimantic and was believed to have been caused by a dispute; at this time, there are no injuries connected to the incident.

The lockdown has been lifted

“As of 9:40 AM, the Lockdown/Shelter in Place has been lifted for all Windham Public Schools per recommendation of law enforcement. The school day will continue as normal. Thank you for your concern and cooperation.”

Custer County Jail

Keri Hoffman, a 35-year-old married teacher in Oklahoma, has been arrested after she allegedly had sex with a student during teacher protests.

Hoffman admitted to police on Saturday, April 7, that she had sex with an unidentified 15-year-old student before and after a teacher rally protesting pay cuts at the state Capitol.

Hoffman is facing charges of Facilitating Sexual Conduct or Communication with Minor by Use of Technology, which carries up to 10 years in prison or up to a $10,000 fine; two counts of Second Degree Rape, each carries up to 15 years in prison; and with Pattern of Criminal Offenses, which carries up to 2 years or a fine of up to $25,000.

She was booked into the Custer County Jail and her bond was reduced to $30,000.

According to the OSBI, 35-year-old Keri Hoffman and her husband drove to the Clinton Police Department where she admitted to police that she had an inappropriate relationship with a student at her school. Hoffman reportedly told police she had used Facebook Messenger to communicate with the boy and set up times to have sex. The pair allegedly had sex in her car and inside her father’s detached garage.

Authorities say she also told police she had picked up a group of students, including the victim, to travel to the State Capitol to attend the teacher walkout rally. She admitted to police that she picked up the boy in question first and dropped him off last, having sex with him both times.

Over the course of just a few months, educators across the country were arrested for entering into an inappropriate relationship with their students, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers, LaToya Parker, Florida teacher Caroline Lawson, 26-year-old Allyson Moran and Katherine Ross Ridenhour were all arrested on similar charges.

The list goes on to include 22-year-old Oklahoma science teacher Hunter Day, 28-year-old teacher Megan Kotarski, 23-year-old history teacher Michelle Schiffer, 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy, special education teacher Jordan Ondish and 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick have all been allegedly carrying on inappropriate relationships with their students.

In addition, 31-year-old Nicole Marie Andrews, 32-year-old Jessica Langford, 29-year-old Andrea Baber, 27-year-old Robin Dunlap, 27-year-old Jennifer Olajire-Aro have also been charged with these charges.

42-year-old Heather Butts of California was arrested on a second-degree felony charge, Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student, Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016 and 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship. 27-year-old Brittany Zamora from Arizona was arrested on similar charges.
