The Florida Mall Shooting: Full Story & Must-See Details

0
0

Reports have come out on social media of a shooting at a Florida mall, believed to be The Florida Mall in Orlando, just a day after reports of a shooting at the Dolphin Mall, which are now believed to be a hoax, made headlines. While early reports did not mention people being injured in the shooting, there have been reports of evacuations at the location.

What do we know so far?

A Twitter user identified as “Braиdoии” or “BrandxWulf” issued the following statements over the shooting:

“No one go to Fl Mall!! Everyone is evacuating from Crayola running out the stores”

“Fl Mall shooting, do not go there. Traffic is bad. I’m here trying to leave now”

Most early reports of the shooting simply identified the mall as simply being a “Florida mall;” another Twitter user identified as Tungsten hexafluoride identified the mall as “The Florida Mall,” which is located in Orlando:

“APPARENTLY SOMEONE IS SHOOTING AT THE FLORIDA MALL I JUST RAN FOR MY LIFE”

Another Twitter user identified as “lex” also issued the following:

“One minute im shopping and the next im running for my life.. idk what exactly is happening but i hope everyone is okay #floridamallshooting”

Later reports claim the incident was not a shooting, but a distraction using fireworks

On Twitter, a user identified as RickWNDRS, who claims to work at the mall, confirmed that the situation had not been a shooting:

“I work here at Florida Mall. All should be okay. I’m hearing everything is clear but you should still stay away from the mall. A shooting did not happen. Did not.”

UPDATE: According to The Orlando Sentinel, the incident was believed to be caused by fireworks that were set off as a distraction during a jewelry store theft, as confirmed by a local sheriff; eleven people were injured trying to leave the area, with five being transported to local hopsitals, but the remaining six refusing treatment. At this time, mall operations were returned to normal.

Four people were believed to have been injured at an explosion, believed to be gas-related, at an apartment complex in Torrance, California, as confirmed by firefighters. At this time, at least two avenues in the area have been closed off. Both the local police department and fire department are believed to be at the scene.

What happened?

According to ABC7, while four people were believed to be hurt, only two people were said to be taken to a local hospital; their current conditions were not immediately made known.

The Torrance Police Department issued the following statement on their official Twitter account:

“T P D and T F D have responded to the 23500 block of Anza Ave. due to a possible gas explosion. Northbound and Southbound Anza Ave. is closed until further notice. Please avoid the area.”

At this time, a cause of the explosion is not known.

Update: According to The Daily Breeze, three victims were taken to a local hospital; the fourth victim was presumably treated at the site of the explosion. Beforehand, all four were treated at the scene of the explosion.

What is the fire department saying?

On their official Facebook page, the Torrance Fire Department issued the following statement:

“At approximately 1:18 pm the Torrance Fire Department responded to the 23500 block of Anza Ave for a reported explosion. TFD units arrived on scene and found a residential apartment complex that sustained significant damage to two individual units along with minor damage to adjoining units. There were a total of 4 patients with varying degrees of injuries. The victims were treated and transported to local area hospitals. Anza Avenue remains closed in both directions as Emergency responders continue their investigations. The Torrance Fire Department Hazardous Materials Team is also on scene performing air sampling and continuous monitoring.”

Time: 9:00 P.M. EST
Episode Title: “Worth”
TV Channel: AMC

Dear Dad…

Youtube.com/AMC

We get a Chandler Riggs voiceover reading Carl’s farewell letter to Rick in the opening minutes of the episode. Carl wrote his father about his fondest memories, how grateful he was for being his son, and most of all, how he hoped he could instill the same feeling of protection on Rick that he had given him growing up. Nice sentiment; too bad you’re dead, kid.

A Surprise for the Saviors

Youtube.com/AMC

Youtube.com/AMC

Our friendly neighborhood psychopath has returned to The Sanctuary. The mystery of who/what Negan scooped up along the road last week turns out to be… Laura! Also, another runaway who made it back to The Sanctuary before being hunted down is the ever flipping former leader of Hilltop, Gregory. While Gregory and Simon are busy trying to wheel and deal on his potential role with The Saviors, Negan whistles out for Dwight in the yard while they chat about where his allegiance lies. Dwight, ever the survivor, reminds Negan that Simon is his second in command which is why he’s now calling the shots. Dwight tells the big boss those three sweet words he loves to hear to cement his loyalty, “I am Negan”.

Negan has a sit down with Simon and the other top guys, bringing up how they originally took The Sanctuary, how Simon was brutal in killing all the men who were there. Negan confessed he only made Simon his right hand man to keep an eye on him, and decides to spare him for the time being. Negan then lays out their new objective: surround The Hilltop from all points and shoot down anyone they see until the job is done.

Dwight’s busy recreating the map of where The Saviors will strike to pass off to his real allegiance at The Hilltop when Simon comes in saying it’s finally time to take Negan down once and for all. Simon definitely has no intention of playing the role of No.2 now that he’s had a taste of command. Dwight has been playing the long con far too well to show his cards, so he agrees to meet Simon later with some other “like minded” folks to do the deed. Naturally, Gregory joins the group of traitors as they prepare for the Negan slaughter… but wait, Negan’s been tipped off by Dwight! Not surprising for a guy who needs to keep close to the shot caller in order to help the real people he committed himself to saving.

Negan digs Lucille into the guts of a walker, and offers Simon a challenge: if you can beat me, you can be me. While the two brawl it out in front of the whole community, Dwight sequestrates a frightened Gregory giving him the map and car keys telling him this is the only move he’s got and to give the information to Rick and everyone at The Hilltop. Meanwhile, Negan strangles Simon to death, which is a nice change to see him getting his hands dirty and not his bat.

Gregory arrives at The Hilltop and delivers the map in time to Rick, Maggie, and Michonne. Just as we think Dwight’s in the clear, Negan walks him to his room and has a surprise waiting. Laura is back and spilling all about how she saw Dwight help Rick’s group and gunned down Saviors in the process. The whole plan on taking out The Hilltop with the map was a fake to lead them into a trap, and Negan knows Dwight has already passed along the false information. This isn’t going to end well.

Friend or Foe

Eugene is running point at the bullet making factory with Rosita and Daryl eager to make a move on their once allied traveling companion. Don’t forget, a very ill and recently blinded Father Gabriel is now a captive making bullets under Eugene’s brash supervision. After delivering a verbal beat down to the poor priest, Eugene decides to take a stroll and test some bullets only to be ambushed and grabbed by Daryl and Rosita. Karma is a bitch, Eugene.

Running his mouth in fear of the fact that he’s being taken alive, Eugene resorts back to the sniveling coward trying to explain why he stayed with Negan after being taken from Alexandria. Rosita knows better then to trust a coward and a traitor. They plan on sticking Eugene in a dark room where yes, he will live, but only to serve the people he betrayed.

In a LITERAL gross act of cowardice, Eugene makes himself vomit all over Rosita and runs to make an escape. While they search the area for the runaway traitor, Eugene hides under a pile of burnt remains. Returning to the bullet outpost, disheveled and now driven with hate, Eugene promises to his crew that they will manufacture as many bullets possible for Negan to succeed.

Oceanside or Bust

Youtube.com/AMC

Youtube.com/AMC

Aaron stayed behind in hopes of finally striking some sort of deal with the Oceanside group, especially now with so many people being taken out by the Saviors, desperate in need of boosting his groups’ allies by increasing the numbers in their favor. Aaron hasn’t exactly been keeping a low profile lurking in the woods as the ladies go on a walk knowing full well he hasn’t left. The women even walk past his dehydrated weary body, casually telling him to go find some water.

Still alone and facing more walkers than he can handle, Aaron does his best to beat them down before he collapses on his back. When he regains consciousness, the women of Oceanside have surrounded him and he pleads again that joining him in fighting is the only way they can ever take their lives back and stop living in fear. Remember, Aaron is the one who persuaded Rick & Co. to join Alexandria so he must have some magic tough in his recruiting skills as his words seem to have struck a chord.

The episode ends with Michonne carrying out Carl’s final wishes, reading the letter he wrote to Negan to the man himself over the walkie talkie system. In the letter Carl asks Negan if this is who he wanted to be, because the only way out is working together. Negan tells Michonne the only way now is to kill them all, because that’s the only way he can truly start over.

Cal Poly Fraternity Accused Of Racism After Photo Of Blackface Member Surfaces

Facebook

The Lambada Chi Alpha fraternity at Cal Poly Tech is being accused of racism after a photograph of fraternity brothers showsing one of them in blackface went viral on social media. The photo, which posted on Facebook by Monique Chenault-Hakker, had a caption that read “She want a gangster not a pretty boy.”

In the photo, members of the fraternity are dressed in various stereotypical outfits, which includes loose pants, fake tattoos, and gang signs. The photo was published by an Instagram user who has “Cal Poly ’21” and the Greek letters “ΛΧΑ” in their profile. One of the brothers,  identified by the Mustang News as Kyler Watkins, is shown with his neck and face painted completely black.

According to Logan Boersma, president of the Cal Poly Lambda Chi Alpha chapter, the event was a “brotherhood event” which was “closed to the public.”

University spokesperson Matt Lazier has yet to comment.

via Mustang News:

The photo shows Lambda Chi members in front of their fraternity house, dressed differently than they expressed in a press release apologizing for the blackface incident. The photo also shows agricultural systems management junior Ryan Vierra, pictured next to Watkins in the original photo.

The photo was captioned “She want a gangster not a pretty boy.” The account has since been deleted. Lambda Chi President Logan Boersma and Interfraternity Council President Colton Marino have not returned requests for comment.

Nationwide, fraternities have sparked outrage for racially insensitive behavior. Some fraternities have been suspended and disbanded over blackface incidences. In 2013, Phi Sigma Kappa held a ‘Colonial Bros and Nava-Hos’ themed party, which gained widespread attention.

The fraternity released a statement on Sunday, April 8, saying:

We are extremely sorry and embarrassed for failing to recognize the racial impacts this brought forth. The representation depicted in the photograph was absolutely unacceptable by our standards as it had a negative influence on surrounding members of our community. Although it was not our intention to stir up racial tension, we understand the negative impact this picture had on our peers.

We are currently working with our local community to amend the discrepancies this photo has caused.

This is not the first Cal Poly fraternity to be accused of racism, as the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity had to apologize for an offensive photo in 2017.

Lehigh University Student Arrested For Racist Graffiti

A 22-year-old Lehigh University student from China has been charged with ethnic intimidation and other offenses after racist graffiti was found in a residence hall Thursday night.

Yukai Yang was in Northampton County Prison under $10,000 bail Saturday on charges that also include institutional vandalism and criminal mischief.

In a campus-wide email Saturday morning, Lehigh President John D. Simon said a student was arrested, suspended from school and barred from campus for allegedly scrawling racist language in the college residence hall where he lived. It appeared the graffiti was targeting another student at Lehigh. The statement did not identify the suspect, victim, or say what was written.

The Lehigh University Police Department’s blotter shows Yang was arrested for an act of criminal mischief at 9:10 p.m. at Warren Square A, which is described on Lehigh’s website as a complex in which 16 students reside. The police report did not detail what happened but listed $360 in property damage.

Purdue University’s FarmHouse Fraternity Hosts Hog Roast For Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

People say a lot of things about fraternities, but often forget that they can give back to the community in different ways. The FarmHouse Fraternity at Purdue University recently hosted a hog roast in order to help the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

What happened?

One main point of the event was the “Be the Match” booth which encouraged those attending the roast to join the blood and bone marrow registry. In addition, the event was also meant to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. For some of the events, as well as the hog roast, there was also a corn hole tournament; for our readers unfamiliar with the game, it is essentially a bean bag toss tournament.

In addition to giving people a direct way to help, the FarmHouse Fraternity also used the event to help honor a fallen brother, John Romine. According to WLFI, one of the members, Jared Forgey, credited Romine in the following statements below:

“Because of our brother John Romine, he was affected by it and he was diagnosed before my time.”

“He’s really the one who started all this and sadly he passed away but he really started this.”

What can I do to help?

If you weren’t able to attend the hog roast, that doesn’t mean you can’t help. For people who still want to give money, you can do son with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s official website right here, which explains the organizations as follows:

“The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is the world’s largest voluntary health agency dedicated to blood cancer. The LLS mission: Cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS funds lifesaving blood cancer research around the world and provides free information and support services.”

The official donation page even lets you offer donations as a monthly gift.

Added to that, just like the hog roast reminds us, some of you out there might be interested in becoming a donor.

On International Women’s Day, she posted on Instagram: “Don’t let them f*****s bring you down.” She’s also posted the caption “Do yourself a favor and stop f****** with half-ass people with half-ass communication and half-ass promises.” Snekkstad has also modeled for PrettyLittleThing, a United Kingdom-based retailer. PrettyLittleThing is owned by Boohoo.com Group and it operates in the UK, Ireland, Australia, United States and France.

At the time of this writing, Snekkstad has over 48,000 followers on Instagram, although we have a feeling her popularity in Norway is about to explode. She also once appeared in a viral video where she held a sign in an attempt to raise money for a boob job. However, the video was just a viral prank.

Mark Zuckerberg, co-founder and CEO of Facebook, has his Out Of Office message up this week.

He’ll be in Washington D.C. testifying before Congress to address issues with Facebook’s mishandling of private user data. His first hearing before the Senate Judiciary and Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation committees is on Tuesday, April 10 at 2:15 pm ET. He’ll be back on Capitol Hill the following day for another testimony before the House Energy and Commerce Committee on Wednesday, April 11, at 10 am ET.

These hearings come two weeks after the Federal Trade Commission announced its investigation into Facebook’s privacy practices. The investigation was sparked by a recent scandal involving political data firm Cambridge Analytica, where the company allegedly used millions of Facebook users’ data to target specific people with political ads that supported Donald Trump, the Guardian reported.

This week, Zuckerberg will answer questions related to how Facebook protects users’ data and how they plan on addressing their security issues. The joint hearing “will explore approaches to privacy that satisfy consumer expectations while encouraging innovation,” chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, Sen. Chuck Grassley said in a statement.

Chair of the Commerce Committee, Sen. John Thune added that they’ll ask Zuckerberg about his plan for “addressing problems that have generated significant concern about Facebook’s role in our democracy, bad actors using the platform, and user privacy.”

Three men in their early twenties have been charged after an unidentified 22-year-old University of Alabama student was sexually assaulted after leaving a Tuscaloosa, Alabama bar. While two of the charged men were arrested and have been released on bond, the third suspect is still being sought.

Alabama authorities have charged Terry Murphy Jr., 21, Adarious Smith, 21, and Deonte Steven Hill, 24, with first-degree rape. Murphy and Smith were arrested on April 5 and posted bond soon after. Tuscaloosa County authorities do not release mugshots once a suspect has been released from the jail.

According to Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Captain Kip Hart, the victims contacted authorities on March 29, telling investigations she left the area of the High Tide Bar with the suspects who she thought was going to take her home.

The victim told police that when she and the three suspects passed her residence, they told her they were going to “continue to party.” She was then taken to another location where the suspects took her into the bedroom and all three allegedly had non-consensual sex with her.

At this time, police are still looking for Hill and are asking anyone with information about him to call law enforcement.

That is all the information available at this time. This post will be updated if more information becomes available.

NHL Playoffs 2018: Eastern Conference Preview

It’s finally time.

After the long 82-game marathon known as the regular season, the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to begin on April 11th, 2018. Both the Eastern and Western Conference matchups are set, and every series is ready to have a storyline written, however many games it takes. The East is set to have some of the most exciting series in the first round, ranging from an interstate rivalry to an Original Six clash, to an upstart going up against a heavy favorite to win the Cup. Below is the preview of each series taking place in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.

Tampa Bay Lightning (1) vs. New Jersey Devils (WC2)

The reigning Eastern Conference Champion Lightning will get their first test on the road to a possible Stanley Cup when they tangle with the surprising New Jersey Devils. These two teams met three times in the regular season, all with the Devils victorious. This series also marks the third time in both teams history they will meet in the playoffs.

Tampa Bay ran through their opponents in the regular season, and that led them to a top-three finish in the league. The Bolts are stacked with talent at every position — all starting with the dangerous duo of MVP candidate Nikita Kuckerov and superstar Steven Stamkos. Following those two, is a plethora of fantastic forwards and heady defensemen. Their netminder, Andrei Vasilevskiy, was lights out this year and is in the talks to possibly win the Vezina Trophy for the league’s best goaltender.

As for the Devils, no one expected them to make the playoffs this season after a bottom-three finish the year prior. Yet here they are, a lot of it due to the insane year by Hart Trophy contender Taylor Hall and the stellar play of goaltender Keith Kinkaid. New Jersey was never out of it all year long, and their youth movement — number one pick Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, Blake Coleman, and Will Butcher — have reignited the franchise and have their fans thinking upset.

This Tampa Bay and New Jersey showdown has the makings of a very underrated series.

Washington Capitals (1) vs. Columbus Blue Jackets (WC1)

Winners of the Metropolitan Division for the third year in a row, the Washington Capitals will have their hands full with a pesky, but high-powered Columbus Blue Jackets squad. Thursday will mark the first time that Washington and Columbus will meet in the postseason. The Caps took the season series from the Jackets three games to one during the regular season.

This could be it for the current core of the Washington Capitals. They have failed over the past five years to finally get over the hump and get not only to the Conference Finals but the Cup Final. Their megastar Alex Ovechkin, who just won his seventh “Rocket” Richard Trophy, leads one of the league’s most potent attacks with Evgeni Kuznetsov, T.J. Oshie, Nick Backstrom, and Lars Eller. Number one defenseman, John Carlson, had the best season of his career, while their goaltending duo of Braden Holtby and Philip Grubauer was terrific. For Holtby, these playoffs are his chance to finally face his demons of failure in playoffs past.

The Caps opponent, the Columbus Blue Jackets, are in the playoffs for the second straight season under fiery bench boss John Tortorella. Columbus looked primed to take the Metro crown earlier this season, but stumbled in the middle of the year, before getting red hot after several moves were made to bolster the roster at the trade deadline. Forward Artemi Panarin continued to produce as a top-ten forward in the game with 82 points, while rookie Pierre-Luc-Dubois turned out a robust season. On the backend and in goal, the Jackets boast three of the top players in the game, including, most likely the best young top defensive pair in Seth Jones and Alex Werenski, and the 2016-17 Vezina winner in Sergei Bobrovsky.

For these two clubs, get ready for a series full of high-scoring and exciting moments.

Boston Bruins (2) vs. Toronto Maple Leafs (3)

It won’t get much more awesome in the first round than the Bruins and Maple Leafs facing off. Both these clubs are a part of the NHL’s Original Six and have a bountiful of playoff history between each other. Every game this past year, these two teams put on a show with the Leafs winning the season series from the B’s this year 3-1.

After sneaking into the playoffs a year ago, eventually falling to the Ottawa Senators in the first round, the Boston Bruins made their mark during the regular season in 2017-18. From about mid-November to the end of April, the Bruins were a force and dominated their way to the second slot in the Atlantic Division. Their Big Three (Brad Marchand, Patrice Bergeron, David Pastrnak) were arguably the best first line in hockey over a long stretch of the season. Boston’s youngsters taking the next step,  their depth, and the fact that they have the best rookie defensemen (Charlie McAvoy) all contribute to what makes the Bruins such a menacing team. Goaltender Tuukka Rask provided another excellent season in goal.

The Maple Leafs, who made noise in their first-round series last spring against Washington, is ready to take the next step. Toronto has a big three of their own (Auston Matthews, Mitch Marner, William Nylander) who form an exciting blend of skill and scoring, and are nightmares for the opposition. Many of the Leafs have been through the postseason grind before, and some are still on the club from the last time these two teams met in what was a heartbreaking seventh-game loss. Veteran Patrick Marleau, who had terrific season will be looking for his second run at a Stanley Cup. In net, Frederik Andersen was brilliant all season, and with another year and some playoff experience under his belt,  he’s primed to take Toronto deep into the postseason.

Make sure you keep your eye on the puck because this will be the fastest (on ice) series the playoffs will offer.

Pittsburgh Penguins (2) vs. Philadelphia Flyers (3)

Philly vs. Pittsburgh. Very little needs to be said, except, this could be the matchup that steals the show in the first round of the playoffs. The hatred between these teams, their fans, and the fact that the Penguins are looking to three-peat as Cup winners, while the Flyers are looking for their first Cup win since 1975, will all make for a hostile, but memorable series. Pittsburgh swept the Flyers 4-0 in the regular season.

As the back-t0-back champs, the Pittsburgh Penguins could be the favorite to win it all again. Their postseason success and iron will back up that statement. Despite struggling early in the season, the Penguins once again turned the thermostat up after Christmas and never stopped rolling. Evgeni Malkin and Sidney Crosby did their usual thing, tormenting opponents, while goal-machine Phil Kessel couldn’t be contained. The Pens balance on defense seems to find a way to succeed in the playoffs and this time might be no different, plus goalie Matt Murray has done the unthinkable the past two years. Can he make it three?

The Philadelphia Flyers path to the playoffs was a wild one at best. They went from losing ten games in a row in November to one of the hottest teams in the league in January and February. Captain Claude Giroux pushed his way into the MVP conversation enjoying his most prolific season as a pro. His mates Jakub Voracek, Wayne Simmonds, and probably the most improved player in the league, Sean Couturier, all provided the backbone to the Flyers resurgence. Defensively, several of their youthful players took a huge leap forward in maturity and development while in between the pipes, injuries galore, but their foursome was able to right the ship, and now a healthy Brian Elliott is ready to lead the way.

These two teams are going to kill each other, which will make for a spectacle and the hockey world is going to enjoy every second of it.

Nicolle Rochelle Photos: Full Story of Topless Bill Cosby Protestor

Nicolle Rochelle has been identified as the topless protester who charged at Bill Cosby as he was entering a Philadelphia courtroom for his retrial on Monday, April 9. According to reports, Rochelle leaped over a barricade and launched toward Cosby but was stopped by sheriff’s deputies. She was taken into custody in handcuffs.

Photos from the scene show that Rochelle had “Women’s Lives Matters” and the names of the alleged victims written in red ink on her chest, stomach and back. There is no word what Rochelle is being charged with at this time.

Opening arguments for Cosby’s retrial were scheduled to begin on the morning of Monday, April 9. His first trial ended last spring after jurors were unable to reach a unanimous verdict after five days of deliberations. Cosby, the 80-year-old who was once considered “America’s Dad”, faces three counts of aggravated indecent assault, each punishable by up to 10 years in prison. Cosby maintains that the sexual contact was consensual.

According to Page Six, Rochelle’s IMDB page (credited as Nicole Leach) says she appeared alongside Cosby in minor roles on The Cosby Show between 1990 and 1992. Her IMDB page also says she has had minor roles on on Chappelle’s Show, Law & Order and NYPD Blue.

Ohio State University, for the first time in the history of the school, has revoked an honorary degree. Bill Cosby was officially stripped of his degree by the school in response to the disgraced comedian’s sexual assault allegations. Ohio State had bestowed the degree on Cosby when he spoke at the college’s commencement ceremony in 2001.

Ohio State joins a number of other schools in revoking an honorary degree from Cosby; the University of Pennsylvania, Brown, Tufts, Fordham University, Baylor University, Oberlin College, University of San Francisco, and Boston University all took back their symbolic diplomas.

The announcement of the degree’s revocation came just days ahead of Cosby’s retrial on sexual assault charges in Pennsylvania. Cosby’s original trial in 2017 ended with a hung jury, and the judge eventually went on to declare a mistrial.

It was a busy morning at the beginning of Cosby’s retrial, as a topless protestor jumped in front of Cosby as he made his way to the courthouse to begin the trial. The woman had also written “Women’s Lives Matter” as well as the names of Cosby’s alleged victims all over her body. She was arrested and taken away by local police. The woman has been identified as Nicolle Rochelle, an actress who once has a minor role on The Cosby Show. She also appeared on a variety of other shows including Chappelle’s Show, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and NYPD Blue.

Opening statements for this trial began on April 9th, 2018, and, according to Judge Steven T. O’Neill, the trial could last a month before the jury starts deliberations on Cosby’s guilt or innocence. Cosby stands accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Andrea Constand, a Temple University employee, at his Philadelphia area home.

Go Pack, go? Not quite.

Trevor Davis, wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers, was arrested on Sunday following a joke he made about a possible bomb in Los Angeles International Airport. According to TMZ Sports, while being asked security questions at the Hawaiian Airlines ticket counter, Davis reportedly joked about smuggling in explosives, causing himself and his female companion to be taken into custody by LAX police.

Rob Pedregon, spokesman for the LAX Police confirmed these reports to WTMJ.com. “Davis turned to his female companion and asked if she remembered to pack the explosives. He was then taken into custody and booked,” said Pedregon. Per the TMZ report, She apparently said, ‘No, and tried to get him to stop. He then said, ‘Just kidding’ — but it was too late.”

“The Packers are aware of the matter involving Trevor Davis… We are in the process of gathering more information and will refrain from making any further comment as it is an ongoing legal matter,” the team said in a statement, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com.

Davis, 24, was drafted by the Packers in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft. Serving primarily as a punt returner in his first two seasons for the green and gold, he averaged 12 yards per punt return, ranking him third in the NFL, and 22.8 yards per kickoff. He also caught eight passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. Davis was slated to return to Green Bay to start the Packers’ offseason practices. Whether or not does return now remains to be seen.

The 10 Wolverine Facts Every X-Men Fan Must Know

Wolverine, Marvel Comics

The Marvel hero Wolverine is one of the comic company’s most popular characters ever. To celebrate his return to mainstream comics later this month in the Hunt for Wolverine series, here are ten essential fun facts every X-Men fan should know!

Hulk vs. Wolverine

Hulk vs. (2009)

Though best known for his X-Men and Avenger affiliations, the clawed hero’s first appearance was as a Hulk villain. Part of a team of Canadian government-sponsored superhumans, Wolverine and his teammates attacked the Hulk in the belief that he was responsible for murders really perpetuated by the cannibalistic Wendigo. The two actually manage to fight to a standstill before taking on the cannibal. Wolverine and the Hulk (and occasionally Bruce Banner) have had an on-and-off, antagonistic friendship of sorts ever since.

Shorter in Person

Thanks to the movies and Hugh Jackman’s lanky 6’3 frame most people don’t think there’s anything special about Wolverine’s height. In the comics, however, he’s known for being much shorter: a whopping 5’3, a whole foot shorter than Jackman. This makes the mutant shorter than virtually all adult superheroes except for Howard the Duck and Rocket Racoon.

Father Figure

X-Men (2000)

Another famous Wolverine-ism that didn’t quite translate into the cinematic universe is his role as a father figure and guardian of children and teens. His best known and closest wards are Kitty Pryde and Jubilee, though the list includes his clone Laura, over half a dozen students at Xavier’s school, and even at one point a young Natasha Romanoff.

Army Veteran

Wolverine has fought in many of the wars that plagued the 19th and 20th centuries. He initially met many of his future acquaintances and teammates this way, their numbers including Nick Fury, Captain America and Bucky, Ben Grimm, and Carol Danvers.

Expert Fighter

X-Men (2000)

Wolverine’s best-known fighting style usually doesn’t include anything more sophisticated than stabbing or cutting his enemies and taking attacks to protect his more vulnerable teammates, but those are far from his only options. Over the past century the mutant has become a master in virtually every known form of hand-to-hand combat and martial arts, in addition to being an expert marksman and swordsman.

Magneto once ripped out his adamantium

Magneto and a metal-encased skeleton don’t mix well in either movies or comics. At one point in the 90’s it escalated to the breaking point: an enraged Magneto used his powers to painfully rip WOlverine’s adamantium from his body, a process he barely survived even with his healing factor. Nothing this dramatic or permanent ever happened in the movies, though the scene in Days of Future Past with Magneto pinning metal into Wolverine’s body is believed to be a homage.

The Bone Claws Retcon

Thanks to the loss of his adamantium Wolverine soon found out that his claws, previously believed to have been implanted by Weapon X to make him a better fighter, were a part of his natural mutation. He wasn’t the only one who had believed this, however. Up until this plotline Wolverine’s claws had been entirely metal and grafted into his body; the bone claws were a major retcon that shocked characters and fans alike.

X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014)

Animal Whisperer

Aside from healing and supersenses, Wolverine possesses the ability to empathetically and non-verbally communicate with many kinds of animals. While this is best seen in the comics, where he has lived on and off with wolf packs and befriends deer as a calming exercise, the movies have shown Wolverine communicating with a wolf (X2) and bear (The Wolverine).

The Wolverine (2013)

The Winter Soldier Strikes

Captain America: The Winter Soldier (2014)

Though Wolverine first met Bucky Barnes as they fought together in WW2, their next interaction would be far from friendly. Now the brainwashed Soviet assassin the Winter Soldier, Bucky tracked down Wolverine to Japan and murdered his pregnant wife. The baby, the true focus of Bucky’s mission, would survive and be raised as a weapon to use against his father.

Hunt For Wolverine #1 arrives April 25, 2018.
