Cian Cowley is one of the men who was caught up in the Barclays Center rampage led by UFC star Conor McGregor following UFC 223 media day. As a result of the incident, Cowley and McGregor landed behind bars at the 78th precinct in Brooklyn, New York on Thursday night ahead of a Friday afternoon court appearance.

Cowley was hit with charges of misdemeanor assault and one count of criminal mischief.

Following his court appearance, Cowley had his bail set for $25,000, while also having an order protection placed on him in favor of Michael Chiesa, Ozzy Arias, Ray Borg, Ricardo Chico.

Chiesa and Borg were supposed to compete this weekend at UFC 223, but injuries suffered during the attack on their bus forced them to withdraw. Chiesa reportedly suffered multiple lacerations on his face, while Borg had glass particles in his eye.

McGregor and Cowley’s teammate, Artem Lobov, was also pulled from the card for his involvement in the incident.

The UFC issued the following statement on the matter:

During today’s media event at Barclays Center to promote UFC 223: Khabib vs. Holloway, Conor McGregor and Artem Lobov entered the building accompanied by over a dozen individuals. The group, which included McGregor and Lobov, vandalized the vehicle that contained a number of athletes competing at the event taking place this weekend.

NYPD was immediately alerted and is currently in the process of investigating the situation. UFC is working very closely with the New York Athletic Commission, Barclays Center security and law enforcement authorities. All parties are working together to ensure the highest standard of proper safety precautions are implemented to protect the fans and athletes.

The organization deems today’s disruption completely unacceptable and is currently working on the consequences that will follow. Immediately, Lobov has been removed from this weekend’s card and individuals involved in the incident are not welcome at tomorrow’s ceremonial weigh-in or Saturday’s event at Barclays Center.”

Who is Cian Cowley?

Like McGregor, Cowley is an Irish mixed martial artist out of SBG Ireland in Dublin. After an impressive amateur career where he compiled a 3-1 record, Cowley suffered defeat in his professional debut in March 2017. He has not returned to the cage since.

Cowley has a child with his longtime girlfriend, Clara Kearney, who is a Dublin-based make-up artist he has been involved with since 2006 and is also the owner of his own gym in the Dublin area. Before transitioning to mixed martial arts, Cowley was a Thai boxer who competed professionally 54 times.

Female Soccer Players Held Match At Lowest Place On Earth

On June 30, 2017, female soccer players from around the world gathered together at the base of Mount Kilimanjaro. The 30 players, stemming from over 20 nations, ranged in age from 18 to 66. The females scaled nearly 19,000 ft to the top of the mountain, bringing along goal posts and nets. A 90-minute match ensued under high altitude conditions, leading to several players requiring oxygen. At the end of the game, there was no score. However, this was not the point of the game. The female players united and broke the world record of playing the highest match in history to prove the equality of women. Frustrated with the overall sense of inequality of women in society today, especially in sports, these females decided to make a statement.

Round 2

Instagram Photo

On April 6th, 2018, a group of 40 female soccer players from around the globe set another world record. This time, the players held a match at the lowest point on dry land–the Dead Sea. After participating in a 12-day walk in Jordan, the players competed in an 11 v 11 match 1,412 ft below sea level where they officially broke the record for playing a match at the lowest altitude on Earth.

Who Are They?

Instagram Photo

The organization who put together both pursuits is called Equal Playing Field. It’s a grass-roots non-profit that formed with one goal in mind: to make gender equality in sports a reality. The organization thought of the Kilimanjaro challenge and executed it successfully; however, it was during this challenge that the idea of playing at the Dead Sea arose to fruition. Among the variety of the players who climbed the mountain, two were from Jordan. They joked that in the future, another match should be held but next time, at the lowest place on Earth.

It was supposed to be left as a joke, but upon arriving home, some of the players received a lot of media attention. This then motivated the players along with the organization to set another record. With the growing awareness came growing support. Regarding this most recent challenge, Equal Playing Field was supported by HRH Prince Ali, the Asian Football Development Project, US Agency for International Development (USAID) and the German Development Agency.

Potential Challenges

Instagram Photo

The overall hike was an on-going 56 miles. The players stopped at Jerash, Wadi Musa, Wadi Rum and Amman where they played exhibition games and held camps to bring attention to the Asian Women’s Cup which is taking place in Jordan from April 6-13. There was worry of exhaustion as the females would be playing many games and hiking a significant amount. Humidity and hydration were two other factors to keep in mind. Thankfully though, the temperature was 79°F, which is warm but also bearable.

The Outcome

Instagram Photo

The match yesterday ended with a score of 4-2, with the real victory being the breaking of another highly impressive record. French, American, Afghanistan and Tunisian players were among the numerous nationalities represented at the match. The females achieved what they set out to do. They brought awareness to women’s soccer and showed the world just how brave, bold, and tenacious women can be.

Ember Moon: Hottest Photos Of The NXT Women’s Champion

$

The future looks bright for Ember Moon. She’s the reigning and defending NXT Women’s Champion, and a woman who is well on her way to becoming WWE’s next breakthrough superstar. She picked up the proverbial mantle, left by Asuka, as the leader of the NXT women’s division. And much like Asuka, Moon has an in-ring presence and ability that cannot be duplicated by anyone on the roster.

Tonight, Moon may have to face her toughest challenge to date as she’s scheduled to defend her championship against Shayna Baszler at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans. She might even appear in the WrestleMania Women’s battled royal this Sunday night (but that’s just speculation since she’ll likely be in town during WrestleMania 34).

Who Is Ember Moon?

Instagram Photo

Moon’s real name is Adrienne Reese. She was born on August 31, 1988, in Garland, Texas. Before signing with the WWE in September 2015, Reese had spent almost a decade touring the independent scene. She’s a former ACW Televised Champion, a 2-time AIW Women’s Champion, a 3-time ACW American Joshi Championship, and a PWA Women’s Champion, as well as the winner of the ACW Queen of Queens Tournament (2012). She wrestled in promotions such as Anarchy Championship Wrestling, Shimmer Women Athletes, and Women’s Superstars Uncensored, among others.

Moon appeared for the first time on live WWE TV at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn II on August 20, 2016. At that event, she battled Billie Kay and came out victorious, finishing off her opponent with a diving corkscrew stunner.

This 29-year-old Texan is known for her epic battles with Asuka on the NXT brand. She lost to “The Empress of Tomorrow” Asuka at both NXT TakeOver: Orlando and NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III. But losing to the undefeated empress didn’t hinder Moon’s rise to the top.

After Asuka relinquished the NXT Women’s Championship due to injury, Moon seized the opportunity, besting three of NXT’s top female superstars for the gold. She won the championship in November 2017 during a fatal-four way match, involving Peyton Royce, Nikki Cross and Kairi Sane.

Moon appeared on a main roster WWE pay-per-view for the first time as part of the first-ever women’s Royal Rumble match. She entered the match at #23, but was eliminated by her long-time rival Asuka.

This Saturday night, Moon will put her NXT Women’s Championship on the line against Shayna Baszler. This will be a rematch from their encounter at NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia in January. Moon was able to come out on top in that match despite suffering a storyline arm injury. Will Moon once again rise to the occasion tonight in New Orleans?

Kinsey Golden is a model from Los Angeles who’s only been posting photos on Instagram for a year and already has more than 40,000 followers. Golden’s made headlines recently after being stopped by police in the Philippines for wearing skimpy bikini bottoms.

She was riding on a moped with her boyfriend, Trav Springer, who was shirtless at the time, and both were ordered to cover up. The two said they didn’t know they were violating any indecency laws and apologized to anyone they may have offended.

Springer said: “They ever so kindly told us to please cover up, and we did immediately… They let us go shortly after without any problems. We didn’t know the seriousness of being in swimming attire on a motorcycle, and we would like to apologize to anyone who we offended.”

Golden’s latest Instagram post, in which she’s pictured with Trav, mentions the pair met while island-hopping around the Philippines and are now moving to Bali. Quite the life.

UFC 223 Live Stream: How To Watch ‘Khabib vs. Iaquinta’ Online Free

UFC 223 takes place this weekend in Brooklyn, New York as the Ultimate Fighting Championship makes its return to the Big Apple. The event has undergone some major changes after a whirlwind of a week full of unexpected turns. Initially, the pay-per-view was set to be headlined by a lightweight title fight between interim champion Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. Unfortunately, Ferguson suffered a knee injury during pre-fight media obligations and was forced to withdraw from the bout. That led to featherweight champion Max Holloway stepping up to take the fight against Nurmagomedov on just six days notice.

However, the cursed event was forced to change main events once again when the New York State Athletic Commission determined Holloway was medically unfit to compete after watching him struggle with his weigh in. That led to the UFC attempting to book Nurmagomedov against former champion Anthony Pettis, but Pettis and the promotion could not agree to financial terms.

Ultimately, Al Iaquinta landed the fight, but he is unable to claim the lightweight belt because he weighed in at 155.2 pounds at the official weigh-in. Nurmagomedov is still eligible to win the belt.

In addition to the changes in main event, an attack on the fighter bus by Conor McGregor led to multiple other fights getting scrapped from the event. Michael Chiesa vs. Anthony Pettis was scrapped because of cuts suffered by Chiesa when McGregor through a dolly through the bus window. Glass also got in the eye of Ray Borg, who was then forced out of his bout with Brandon Moreno. Artem Lobov, McGregor’s teammate, was pulled from the card for his involvement in the incident, canceling his scheduled bout with Alex Caceres. Finally, Paul Felder was left without an opponent when Iaquinta jumped at the opportunity to headline the pay-per-view in his home state.

Minnesota-Duluth Team Preview:

Instagram Photo

Minnesota-Duluth is no stranger to the national championship game. The Bulldogs lost last season to Denver in the championship. They will be looking to come out of this year’s championship game hoisting the trophy.

It is a bit of a surprise for Minnesota-Duluth to be back in the national championship game. They lost many key players from last season’s runner-up finish. The Bulldogs had to do what bulldogs do and fight their way into the tournament.

Key players:

Scott Perunovich: The defenseman is the anchor of the Bulldogs defense. He is an all-National Collegiate Hockey Conference first-teamer.

Riley Tuft: The left-winger is the first-round pick of the Dallas Stars. Tuft is the leading scorer on the team.

Notre Dame Team Preview:

Instagram Photo

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish has been the most dominant team in college hockey all season. The Irish had a stretch from Oct. 27 through Jan. 19 where they did not lose a game. So, unlike their counterpart Minnesota-Duluth, Notre Dame is no surprise.

Notre Dame had a dramatic semifinal win over Michigan in the semifinals. Senior leader Jake Evans scored the game-winning goal with 3.7 seconds left to propel the Irish to the 4-3 victory.

Key Players:

Jake Evans: The senior has been the offensive leader of the Irish for the past two seasons. He is the leader of the team and will be joining the Montreal Canadiens at seasons end.

Caleb Morris: The best goalie in college hockey is the most significant reason for the dominance of Notre Dame this season. Morris is coming off of a Most Outstanding Player award for the Big Ten tournament.

Conor McGregor stole all of the headlines ahead of this weekend’s UFC 223: Khabib vs. Iaquinta pay-per-view at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. McGregor showed up at Barclays Center with dozens of his friends and wreaked havoc in the loading dock area. McGregor and company attacked a bus full of fighters leaving the arena, beating on the side and eventually launching a dolly through the window which injured multiple fighters.

A warrant was later issued for McGregor’s arrest before he turned himself in on Thursday night.

McGregor appeared before a judge on Friday and was arraigned on charges of felony criminal mischief charges and misdemeanor assault, menacing and reckless endangerment charges.

The brash Irishman is due back in court in June.

The UFC released a clearer version of what transpired during the attack in the latest episode of their “UFC Embedded” series which airs on YouTube.

McGregor was arrested and arraigned along with SBG Ireland teammate and fellow MMA fighter Cian Cowley.

As a result of McGregor’s actions, a total of three fights were pulled from the card.

It added to what was already a chaotic week for the UFC with two different main events getting scrapped. Khabib Nurmagomedov was initially set to face Tony Ferguson for the lightweight title, but Ferguson was injured in a freak accident. He was then scheduled to face featherweight champ Max Holloway, but the New York State Athletic Commission deemed Holloway medically unfit to compete. That led to Al Iaquinta, a New York native who is on a five-fight winning streak, earning the headlining opportunity. That, unfortunately, led to his original opponent, Paul Felder, getting pulled from the card.

The UFC 223 pay-per-view main card kicks off at 10:00 p.m. ET, while the preliminary bouts are scheduled to kickoff off 8:00 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1.

A fire broke out in Trump Tower in New York City this Saturday. With the incident going viral on social media, with firefighters involved with containing the fire issuing updates on social media, even the President himself issued a response to what had happened.

What happened?

The FDNY issued the following statement on Twitter, confirming that, under their system, they deemed the fire to reach the three-alarm level, also claiming that they did not believe there were any injuries connected to the incident at first:

“FDNYalerts MAN 3-ALARM 721 5 AVE, HIGH RISE (TRUMP TOWER) FIRE ON 50TH FLR”

“#FDNY members are on scene of a 3-alarm fire at 721 5th Ave Manhattan. There are currently no injuries reported”

A later report on Twitter, however, clarified that there had been at least one person injured during the incident:

“#FDNY members remain on scene of a 4-alarm fire, 721 5th Ave in Manhattan. There is currently one serious injury to a civilian reported.”

UPDATE: In a later Twitter post, the FDNY confirmed that several firefighters had been injured by the fire, although it was not life-threatening, also updating the status of the fire to “four-alarm:”

“#FDNY members remain on scene of a 4-alarm fire, 721 5th Ave in Manhattan. There is currently one serious injury to a civilian, and 3 non-life-threatening injuries to Firefighters, reported”

UPDATE: According to CNN, it has been confirmed that at least one person has died because of the fire.

What has the president said about the incident?

President Donald Trump also issued the following statement on Twitter, writing that the fire had been put out, according to his knowledge, also thanking the firefighters who helped:

“Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!”

For his part, President Trump, the namesake of the building, was not in New York City this weekend, during the time the fire came out.

Masters 2018: Day Two Recap

Now that the last group has walked off the course, this year’s fight for the Green Jacket is now halfway to a close. So far, it has been a battle to watch. With the day over the cut finished at five over, nearly eliminating three-time Masters winner Phil Mickelson. At the Masters, the stakes are high and the rounds can be unpredictable. Let’s take a look at where everyone sits after day two.

Instagram Photo

The favorite for the tournament, Rory McIlroy, sits at four under for the weekend. This is a big weekend for McIlroy. If he manages to take home the win, he will be in elite company, not just as a Masters winner, but as one of six to have completed the Grand Slam. He would join fellow competitor Tiger Woods and four other legends as the only players to have won all four of golf’s modern majors during their career.

Joining McIlroy at four under is another potential winner, Jordan Spieth. Looking for his first Green Jacket, Spieth went backward on day two, finishing at two over on the day.

Though at the end of the second day, Patrick Reed sits atop the leaderboard. After a very good first day at three under, Reed lit up the rest of the field to go six under on Friday to finish up at nine under. He currently sits alone in first place after battling it out with Marc Leishman for the lead. Leishman sits alone in second at seven under.

Instagram Photo

One of the biggest surprises so far has come from American, Tony Finau. On Wednesday, first time Masters competitor Finau picked up an ace in the Par-3 contest. On the ensuing celebration, Finau managed to dislocate his left ankle and to prevent his children seeing him taken away on a stretcher, popped it back in on the course himself. An x-ray and MRI the morning of the first round showed no signs of damage, clearing him to play the weekend. He came out swinging on Thursday with confidence, finishing the day four under and tied for second place. “I look at myself as a pretty mentally tough person, and I think I showed that [Thursday] in my round,” Finau told ESPN. Today, Finau had a little less luck but stayed within a shout of the leaders going two over for the day to put him two under for the weekend. Watching Finau play through this brings back memories of Tiger Woods playing through a hairline fracture and torn ACL to win the 2008 U.S. Open.

Speaking of Tiger, he made his return to the Masters this weekend for the first time since 2015. In his comeback year after having spinal fusion surgery and looking as though he may never play again, Woods is showing glimpses of his old self. Though those glimpses seemed to come on the first day only, as today he dropped another three strokes to finish four over. Joining Woods at the cut line is three-time Masters champion, Phil Mickelson. Mickelson narrowly making the cut, going seven over today to finish the first two days at five over.

The Masters, like any tournament, can be unpredictable. But with a major win and $11 million on the line, the stakes are as high as ever. With a lot of golf still to play, it is still anyone’s game to win or lose.

The Ultimate Fighting Championship returned to the Big Apple this weekend for UFC 223. The event has gone through a whirlwind of a week, with three changes in the main event leading up to Saturday night’s show at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. Initially, the main event was supposed to be a showdown between interim lightweight champion Tony Ferguson and undefeated contender Khabib Nurmagomedov. However, Ferguson suffered a freak injury and was pulled from the card.

That led to featherweight champion Max Holloway stepping in on short notice to save the card. Unfortunately, on the day of weigh-ins, Holloway was deemed medically unfit to fight by the New York State Athletic Commission giving Nurmagomedov his third opponent for Saturday, Al Iaquinta, a New York native on a five-fight winning streak.

Those were hardly the only shakeups on the card, too.

After a tirade from Conor McGregor on Media Day, two fighters were injured and forced to pull from their bouts. Michael Chiesa withdrew from his bout with Anthony Pettis after suffering multiple facial lacerations when McGregor threw a dolly through the window of the fighter bus. Borg pulled out of his bout with Brandon Moreno after getting glass fragments in his eye, and Artem Lobov vs. Alex Caceres was scrapped due to Lobov’s involvement with McGregor’s attack, which landed the Irishman behind bars.

But despite all of the fight week drama, we have made it to Saturday and everyone is ready for the fighters to make their way to the cage and for the action to get underway.

Don’t waste another second! The full results and video highlights from Saturday’s pay-per-view can be seen below.

UFC 223 Results & Highlights

Main Card (10:00 p.m. ET, Pay-per-view)

Khabib Nurmagomedov def. Al Iaquinta via unanimous decision (50-44, 50-43, 50-43) – for the lightweight championship

Iaquinta took the center of the cage early and was not allowing Nurmagomedov to control the cage. However, Nurmagomedov eventually shot for a low single and was able to plant Iaquinta on his back. Nurmagomedov wasted no time going for Iaquinta’s back, but the New York native was able to find his way back to his feet. Nurmagomedov immediately got Iaquinta back to the mat and was pressuring his opponent up against the fence in dominant position. Nurmagomedov continued mauling Iaquinta while raining down his feared ground-and-pound.

After missing on his first takedown attempt, Nurmagomedov was able to latch on to Iaquinta’s leg and got the fight right back to the back. Nurmagomedov transitioned to Iaquinta’s back and continued to ride the dominant position while sucking the energy out of his opponent. The undefeated challenger sunk both hooks in and began fishing for Iaquinta’s neck. Nurmagomedov flattened Iaquinta out and began throwing heavy shots while Iaquinta desperately searched for a way out.

Nurmagomedov was more willing to strike in the third round and was trading back in forth, which led to Iaquinta landing his cleanest shot of the fight. Nurmagomedov was finding a home for his jab, however, which left Iaquinta’s nose bloodied. But Iaquinta was not ready to stand down and continued throwing heavy leather.

Nurmagomedov continued to show a willingness to stand rather than to get the fight back to the mat where he was having the most success. But midway through the round, he attempted a shot but Iaquinta escaped for the third straight time. Iaquinta had his best moment of the fight when he attempted a takedown of his own, before landing a heavy punch as Khabib moved to separate.

Nurmagomedov shot for an immediate takedown to start the final frame but again came up short. Iaquinta responded with a heavy rip to the body and left hand, before unloading a strong uppercut looking to finish the fight. Nurmagomedov was clearly exhausted and was putting himself in danger by leaving every exchange with his chin in the air. Once he missed the takedown attempt, Nurmagomedov upped his aggression and unleashed a flurry that damaged Iaquinta’s left eye and allowed the fight to return to his comfort zone on the mat. Now that the fight was back on the mat, Nurmagomedov poured it on and held dominant position until the final bell.

Rose Namajunas def. Joanna Jedrzejczyk via unanimous decision (49-46, 49-46, 49-46) – for the women’s strawweight championship

There was plenty of tension and excitement in the building as the co-main event kicked off, with Jedrzejczyk showing quick movement to bounce in and out of the pocket, while Namajunas came out with her usual calm, collected approach. Namajunas began to throw more volume as the round reached its midway point and was beginning to land her right hand. In the final ten seconds, both women landed a heavy shot that buckled their opponent before the bell.

Namajunas was playing an incredible game from the outside, jumping in and out to clip Jedrzejczyk before sliding out of danger. Namajunas was getting comfortable and throwing her combinations with ease, while Jedrzejczyk continued struggling to find her offensive groove. After every exchange, Namajunas was landing a left hook on the way out.

Namajunas opened up Round 3 by coming over the top with a big right hand that sent Jedrzejczyk backward. Despite a slow start, Jedrzejczyk continued to come forward and was focusing on attacking the lead leg of Namajunas. As she began incorporating her kicks, the former titleholder appeared to be gaining her confidence. The leg kicks were noticeably slowing Namajunas down and Jedrzejczyk’s full offense was coming together.

Jedrzejczyk kept the offensive firepower coming to start Round 4, while Namajunas was able to land an overhand left that briefly stifled the attack. The champion’s movement was obviously giving her problems, however, as the leg kicks kept flying. Jedrzejczyk began smiling as she came into her rhythm and appeared to feel the momentum in her favor.

To open the final round, Namajunas brought the same energy she had in the first two rounds and unleashed a flurry that was connecting. Both women were swinging for a finish, knowing they needed to win Round 5 to get the win. It was an incredibly close fight that was five rounds of a standup war, but it was Jedrzejczyk who was wearing the more visible damage. With just 30 seconds left in the fight, Namajunas was able to secure a quick takedown that may have been enough to secure the win. It headed to the judges as the two women embraced to share their respect.

Renato Moicano def. Calvin Kattar via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Both men were patient out of the gate as they were feeling out their opponents. After 90 seconds, Kattar unleashed a huge shot that rocked Moicano. However, the Brazilian was able to quickly recover. The two men returned to the center of the cage as they looked to establish their preferred pace. Moicano was attempting to keep a distance and began chopping away at Kattar’s leg with some inside leg kicks. As Moicano was chopping away with his kicks, he began finding more openings for his hands.

In Round 2, Moicano continued chopping away at his opponent’s legs while Kattar struggled to find his base and get behind his punches.

Moicano continued to roll in the final round, with Kattar’s nose busted up. Kattar’s movement was severely limited after the assault on his inside leg and Moicano was able to slide out of danger and easily counter. Moicano was turning up his output as the final frame wound down, mixing in beautiful combinations and finding a home for his uppercut. Moicano was able to ride out the round as he continued his striking clinic until the closing bell.

Zabit Magomedsharipov def. Kyle Bochniak via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

Magomedsharipov had a long reach advantage and was making no secret that he wanted to fight on the outside. Magomedsharipov cracked Bochniak with a left hook early and was keeping calm as his opponent was trying to push the pace. Magomedsharipov was showcasing his flashy style and never appeared concerned about what Bochniak was bringing to the table.

Despite getting cracked by some of Magomedsharipov’s best strikes, Bochniak was not slowing down. Bochniak was eating his opponent’s strikes but began taunting Magomedsharipov from the pocket. Magomedsharipov got the fight to the mat with a brilliant foot sweep.

Bochniak continued to hang tough, but Magomedsharipov shot for a takedown and was able to drag Bochniak to the mat. Magomedsharipov began to slow down as the final round was winding down and Bochniak was pushing forward. Bochniak attempted to unless one final flurry and got right in Magomedsharipov’s face in the final ten seconds as the two men slugged it out in a wild finish until the final bell for a clear contender for Fight of the Night.

According to Ariel Helwani, Magomedsharipov’s spectacular performance came despite a broken hand which he reportedly suffered in the locker room.

Chris Gruetzemacher def. Joe Lauzon via TKO (corner stoppage) – Round 2, 5:00

Lauzon, as he has been known to do, was aggressive out of the gate and instantly looked to push the pace in. Lauzon cracked Gruetzemacher with a heavy shot, but Gruetzemacher was able to stuff the takedown. Lauzon moved to butterfly guard but was unable to complete the sweep. Lauzon attempted to roll for a kneebar before transitioning to a heel hook, but Gruetzemacher escaped. Once the fight returned to the feet, Gruetzemacher was able to land some heavy strikes of his own which made a noticeable impact on Lauzon in the closing seconds of the round.

Gruetzemacher was controlling the bout early in Round 2, with Lauzon’s face swelling and cuts opening as Gruetzemacher mixed up shots to the body and head. Lauzon was not backing down, but he had nothing behind his punches and was noticeably fading.

After Round 2, Lauzon’s corner threw in the towel to bring an end to the fight after an impressive performance from Gruetzemacher which was a decision that was rightfully made.

Preliminary Card (8:00 p.m. ET, FOX Sports 1)

Karolina Kowalkiewicz def. Felice Herrig via unanimous decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)

Kowalkiewicz was finding a home for her right hand early, while Herrig was circling around the canvas and looking to counter the former title contender. Herrig, however, was able to close the distance and engage the clinch where she worked some dirty boxing before Kowalkiewicz broke free. Kowalkiewicz tried to catch Herrig with a rolling kneebar and ended up in guard, before a slick triangle sweep that landed her in top position as the opening frame came to an end.

Kowalkiewicz was dictating the pace in the opening minutes of Round 2, as the two women continued to stand in front of each other and exchange. Kowalkiewicz was mixing knees and elbows into her arsenal as Herrig began to show the damage on her face.

The pace never slowed down, but Herrig was visibly the more exhausted of the two. Kowalkiewicz began to cruise as the round was winding down, while Herrig was unable to mix up her strikes. Herig did crack Kowalkiewicz with a big left with just one minute remaining in the ground, but Herrig failed to capitalize and instead went in for the clinch. The fight ended with both women swinging for the fences as we went to the judges’ scorecards.

Olivier Aubin-Mercier def. Evan Dunham via TKO (strikes) – Round 1, 0:53

Aubin-Mercier came out with a relentless pace and immediately began pouring punishment on the veteran Dunham. Aubin-Mercier engaged the clinch and threw a left knee right to the liver that caused Dunham to retreat. While pouring on the punishment, Aubin-Mercier drilled Dunham with a second knee to the liver which folded his opponent in half just one minute into the fight.

Ashlee Evans-Smith def. Bec Rawlings via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)

Rawlings came out looking to push the pace but ran right into Evans-Smith’s right hand. Evans-Smith showed no respect for Rawlings’ power and began chasing her opponent down. Evans-Smith capped off her impressive start with a takedown at the buzzer. The pace slowed in Round 2, but both women remained willing to trade in the pocket. Despite a more even round, Evans-Smith continued to land the more effective punching.

Evans-Smith continued her high output in the final frame while mixing in more kicks to her attack. Despite having more success in the closing minute of the bout, Rawlings appeared to do too little too late as we reached the final bell.

Devin Clark def. Mike Rodriguez via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)

It was the promotional debut for Rodriguez, who immediately found himself fighting with his back to the cage as Clark came pushing with the pressure. After a brief stall, referee John McCarthy separated the two fighters and Rodriguez showed off his big power with a leg kick that dropped his opponent to the mat.

Rodriguez tried to show off his explosiveness again with a flying knee, but was countered and put on his back. Clark finished Round 1 in top position, raining down some heavy ground-and-pound. When he had the distance, Rodriguez was able to use his power to put Clark in danger, but Clark used his superior grappling to keep his opponent against the cage, neutralizing his strengths. An exhausted Rodriguez was completely overwhelmed in the final round by Clark and his dominant top position en route to an easy decision win.

Top 5 Wrestlemania Dream Matches That Will Never Happen

$

“The Showcase of the Immortals,” Wrestlemania 34 takes place on April 8th, 2018 and the excitement for this event is at an all-time high. As we approach this year’s Wrestlemania, I cannot help but look back at all of the classic matches that have happened throughout the years from “Macho Man” Randy Savage vs. Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat to Shawn Michaels vs. The Undertaker. With many legendary matches throughout the years, I also began to do what any wrestling fan does in his spare time and think about dream matches that I wish could happen on the “Grandest Stage of Them All.” Here are five dream matches that I feel would have been able to Main Event any Wrestlemania through the years, or at least be a marquee match on the card.

John Cena vs. Hulk Hogan

The first match on this list would be the ultimate “good guy” vs. “good guy” match. I feel that this is a match not many people have mentioned throughout the years as a must-see match, but one that I feel could be in the Main Event if the story is told properly. The story is already built in, the two faces of the company who stood for truth and justice, who always does the right thing going against one another. I feel that for this match neither participants need to be a Heel(bad guy) because it is a story that does not need one. They were both heroes for the children and mirror each other greatly. They could have played off of that in the storyline, and the fans would be in for the ride. The match may not be the most technical match ever, but it does not need to be a wrestling masterpiece to be a fun and exciting match. Imagine Hulk Hogan “hulking up” after taking a five knuckle shuffle and think to yourself how great of a moment that would be. Sadly though it looks like Hulk Hogan’s wrestling career has ended and is no longer affiliated with the company, as well as John Cena, becoming older and on his way out the door.

Stone Cold “Steve Austin” vs. CM Punk

A match that was built and promoted for a random WWE video game interview in which it took the internet by storm. Arguably the two best promos in the history of the wrestling business verbally going toe to toe was a sight to be held and left the fans thinking “If only this match were able to happen.” This match would benefit if Stone Cold and CM Punk have the best writings helping them and Vince McMahon letting them do what they want with the promos. The promos would be legendary, two of the very best ripping into each other week after week. I would imagine CM Punk would play the evil and dastardly Heel getting under Stone Cold’s skin whenever he can and Stone Cold gathering the support of the fans as well as trying to get his hands on CM Punk but not being able to. CM Punkceremoniously left the WWE in January of 2014 and does not look as though he wants to come back. Stone Cold has stated numerous times he is done with in-ring competition, so sadly it appears like this is a legendary rivalry that will never be.

Sting vs. The Undertaker

A dream match for years since the late 1990’s, Sting vs. Undertaker was a match that so many people wanted. Two very similar characters from two different companies. Both embodying mysterious and morbid characters which was a match that would have been very easy to build and could have had a possibility of happening but did not. When the wrestling company that Sting had worked for, WCW was bought by WWE in 2001, he decided not to make the jump over and instead he wrestled elsewhere. When Sting finally did sign with WWE and made his debut in November of 2015, fans speculated what his future could have been for WrestleMania. Sting himself on multiple occasions said he wanted a match with the Undertaker, but unfortunately, WWE did not pull the trigger that year, and Sting eventually was hurt and forced to retire from in-ring competition forever. This could have been a significant match and one that could have gone down in Wrestlemania history as a highly anticipated match that people have wanted and finally happened.

Shawn Michaels vs. The Rock

The “Heart Break Kid” vs. “The People’s Champ” a match that most fans are surprised WWE never promoted. The build-up to this match would have been must-see television as two iconic and charismatic characters that WWE ever produced went head to head. Shawn Michaels as the cocky and arrogant Heel, along with DX in his corner against The Rock who every week would verbally destroy them. We got a glimpse of what this feud could have been when The Rock faced Triple H and DX, but there is something about Shawn Michaels that fans are attached too. Shawn Michaels was capable of being hated so much by the fans, and with his cocky persona this could have been the Main Event that would be remembered forever, and years to come. With The Rock being a massive movie star and Shawn Michaels stating that he will never wrestle again and he has permanently retired it looks like their paths will never cross again.

“Stone Cold” Steve Austin vs. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan faced The Rock in 2002, and it was an exciting and memorable match which had the fans in the stadium and at home on the edge of their seats. While that match was enjoyable, in the back of many fans minds, they imagined how a match of Stone Cold vs. Hulk Hogan would be instead. This match was a possibility, but for some reason (possibly personal or political reasons) this match did not happen. The image of the two most prominent wrestling stars in the history of wrestling going blow for blow in a sold out, and an ecstatic crowd is one that many dreamed of but did not get. This would have been a must-see match since Hulk Hogan would have worked great as an NWO Heel, which he was at the time while Stone Cold was the hottest wrestler in the world. The crowd would have been roaring before the match even started and would be a smash hit if they did not even touch for five minutes. It would be full up Stone Cold Stunners and Legs Drops and that’s just what the fans would want.

What will National Library Week be like this year?

According to the American Library Association, ballerina Misty Copeland will serve as the 2018 National Library Week Honorary Chair, in honor of her New York Times bestselling memoir, Life in Motion and her 2014 picture book, Firebird, which won the Coretta Scott King Book Illustrator Award in 2015.

One way to celebrate is the “Where did the library lead you?” promotion, which can be answered with posts on Twitter, Instagram or the I Love Libraries Facebook page during National Library Week; as long as you remember to include the hashtags, #NationalLibraryWeek and #LibrariesLead, on the social media posts, you can be eligible to win a $100 VISA gift card and a copy of the aforementioned Firebird.  Entries can be a picture, video or text. The promotion ends on Saturday, April 14 at noon CT.

That said, nearly each day of the week is its own holiday. Take a look!
