Elite Eight, March Madness Picks 2018: Spread & Predictions

Around this time last week, there were 64 times that all more or less believed that they had a great chance of going far in one of the most grueling yet beloved postseason affairs in sports. Now, after a plethora of upsets and bombastically shocking buzzer beaters, the battlefield has now been condensed into a much smaller yet still highly competitive series of contests that will be vital in deciding who gets to move on to the Final Four. For some, the Elite Eight is familiar territory that is a stepping stone towards garnering another place in the Final Four, adding to their already impressive cache of postseason success. For others, this is a wholly unique and somewhat intimidating experience as it is no longer possible to hide behind the guise of being the lovable underdog. Now, regardless of what seed these programs are marked with, the assumption is now that whoever has made it this far should be rightfully considered a respected competitor that is not to be underestimated in any way. Can the likes of Loyola-Chicago and Kansas State win this weekend to become one of the four teams that will have earned the right to go to San Antonio? Let’s find out.

Loyola-Chicago Ramblers (11) vs. Kansas State Wildcats (9)

Winning their three contests in March Madness by a combined score of five points, the Ramblers have been able to live on the fringe of being eliminated as their disciplined defense (26 defensive rebounds against Nevada) in conjunction with their highly efficient offense (55.8 FG% against Nevada) has allowed them to pull away during the waning seconds of tight contests. Despite turning the ball over 16 times against Nevada, the Ramblers were able to prevent the Wolf Pack from finding a rhythm from long range, which was vital in preventing the tenacious offense of Nevada from making another comeback. While the shooting inadequacies have been well documented throughout the tournament for Kansas State, they have somehow been able to rely on their opportunistic defense to persevere against prolific offensive teams. Garnering 11 steals while turning the ball over just 10 times, Kansas State was able to overcome a lengthy Kentucky team that outrebounded them 38-29. While the defense of the Wildcats will make it difficult for the Ramblers to get off accurate jump shots, Loyola-Chicago proved emphatically that they can get to the rim with their swift and cerebral athletes, something that Kansas State’s anemic offense will struggle to do consistently in this contest.

Final Score: Ramblers 65 Wildcats 62 Spread: Kansas State -11.0

Florida State Seminoles (9) vs. Michigan Wolverines (3)

Holding the dynamic offense of the Gonzaga Bulldogs to shooting just 33.9% from the field, the Seminoles stepped up in a big way to prove that their gifted rebounders could make plays on both offense and defense. Pulling down 30 defensive rebounds against the Bulldogs, the Seminoles were able to capitalize off of their extra opportunities as they tenaciously pursued the rim in transition to eventually wear down the overwhelmed defense of Gonzaga. While Texas A&M was able to have their way with North Carolina when it came to rebounding the basketball, they were not prepared to contend with the formidable defenders of Michigan as the Aggies turned the ball over 14 times with 12 of those turnovers being steals by the Wolverines. Although they struggled to shoot the basketball during the first two games of the tournament, the Wolverines came out firing and shocked the college basketball world by shooting 58.3% from three-point range. While the Seminoles will most likely be better at rebounding the basketball, the Wolverines dynamic defense combined with their productive perimeter shooters will be the deciding factor in sending them to the Final Four in San Antonio.

Final Score: Seminoles 71 Wolverines 78 Spread: Michigan -4.5

Texas Tech Red Raiders (3) vs. Villanova Wildcats (1)

An intriguing matchup that will display one of the most efficient defenses in college basketball (Texas Tech) against arguably the most prolific offense in the country (Villanova), this could be one of the most thrilling contests of the tournament. Against the Boilermakers, the Red Raiders forced 17 turnovers, which their offense was efficiently able to convert into 78 points and 47.5% shooting from the field. With guard Keenan Evans appearing to be at full strength, the Red Raiders possess a dynamic playmaker that is just as adept at defending the hoop as he is at scoring the basketball. Although the Wildcats struggled in the first half to score against the full court press defense of the Mountaineers, their incredibly accurate shooters eventually won out as Villanova shot 54.2% from three-point range. If the Wildcats can be supremely accurate from beyond the arch as they have been throughout the tournament, the Red Raiders will be in serious trouble no matter how formidable and cerebral their defense is. It will be a hard-fought contest, but I see the Wildcats making enough clutch shots down the stretch to pull away from the scrappy defense of the Red Raiders.

Final Score: Red Raiders 72 Wildcats 79 Spread: Villanova -6.5

Duke Blue Devils (2) vs. Kansas Jayhawks (1)

Despite shooting an abysmal 19.2% from three-point range, the feisty Blue Devils were able to pull away from the resilient Orange thanks to their proficient zone defense which was able to garner eight steals. Although it’s easy to focus on Duke’s adept perimeter shooters as the reason for their impressive success in the tournament thus far, it has actually been their lengthy defenders that have allowed them to comfortably defeat their opponents even when they struggle to score on offense. Against one of the best transition defenses in basketball, the Jayhawks played to their strengths by getting the ball in the half court consistently and cycling it around to their open shooters, thereby exploiting the inconsistent perimeter defense of the Tigers (45.5 3P%). Even without a competent defense, the scorers of the Jayhawks are so explosive and confident that they can often overcome their lack of physicality on the other end of the court. However, against the lengthy and formidable defenders of Duke, Kansas will have a tough time getting to the rim and will have to rely heavily on their perimeter shooting capabilities. While the Jayhawks could win with their gifted offense alone, it will most likely not be enough to overcome a Blue Devils team that is more well-rounded and possesses slightly better athletes.

Final Score: Blue Devils 81 Jayhawks 75 Spread: Duke -3.5

March 24 marked the March for Our Lives, in which rallies throughout the United States have called for changes to current gun control and security laws in response to the Parkside shooting, which claimed 17 lives. Over 500,000 people from cities like New York City, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles and Portland are expected to march.

What happened?

As mentioned before, the event had been organized by the student survivors of the Parkside shooting; at the time, Cameron Kasky, an 11th-grader, gave the following statement while on “This Week,” according to ABC News:

“People keep asking us, ‘What about the Stoneman Douglas shooting is going to be different, because this has happened before and change hasn’t come? This is it.”

“People are saying that it’s not time to talk about gun control. And we can respect that. Here’s a time. March 24th in every single city. We are going to be marching together as students begging for our lives.”

“This isn’t about the GOP. This isn’t about the Democrats. This is about the adults. We feel neglected and at this point, you’re either with us or against us.”

Many speakers and performers were set to appear at the March for Our Lives protest in Washington D.C. According to Time, this includes Miley Cyrus, Jennifer Hudson, Demi Lovato, Vic Mensa, Ariana Grande, Common and Andra Day, as well as Lin-Manuel Miranda and Ben Platt, who also developed an anthem for the marchers.

According to CNN, White House deputy press secretary Lindsay Walters issued the following statement, essentially serving, for some, as the White House’s official response to the event:

“We applaud the many courageous young Americans exercising their First Amendment rights today.
“Keeping our children safe is a top priority of the President’s, which is why he urged Congress to pass the Fix NICS and STOP School Violence Acts, and signed them into law.”
“Additionally, on Friday, the Department of Justice issued the rule to ban bump stocks following through on the President’s commitment to ban devices that turn legal weapons into illegal machine guns.”
On Twitter, former president Barack Obama also issued the following statement:
“Michelle and I are so inspired by all the young people who made today’s marches happen. Keep at it. You’re leading us forward. Nothing can stand in the way of millions of voices calling for change.”
NBC News confirmed that the number of people who attended the Washington D.C. march reached about 800,000 people, although officials have not released an official crowd size estimate, although it was reported that they prepared for around 500,000.

His biggest claim to fame is being a Beatle, and while it is admittedly pretty hard to top that, but Paul McCartney has still had a significant career and prominence in the media since then. In addition to being in groups like Wings and the Quarrymen, he has also become an icon for various social issues. Let’s take a look at his career over the years, starting with his net worth!

Paul McCartney Net Worth: $1.2 Billion

Paul McCartney’s net worth is estimated to be around $1.2 billion. Let’s take a look at his career over the years just to see how he came so far!

The Early Years

Born in Liverpool, England, McCartney’s start in the music industry came at the age of fifteen when he met John Lennon and his band, the Quarrymen, which also included future Beatle George Harrison, and asked him to join. It was this band that would eventually evolve into The Beatles, eventually gaining fourth prominent member, Ringo Starr. One of the group’s biggest songs, “Yesterday,” had been one of McCartney’s own compositions, featuring the influence classical music with their normal style.

1966-1970

Ultimately, the Beatles would have its final commercial concert at the end of their 1966 US tour. The same year, McCartney would begin his first musical project outside of the group, a film score for the film, The Family Way. Although the band gave up performing around this time, the Beatles still released content, notably their first concept album, Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band and the animated film, Yellow Submarine, which did not feature the band members voicing themselves. Eventually, by the end of the decade, the band disbanded by 1970.

By 1971, McCartney moved onto his next musical project, the band Wings, which had their first concert tour in 1972, having success with songs like “My Love” and “Silly Love Songs,” ultimately producing a total of seven studio albums, two of which topped the UK charts and four the US charts. Eventually, however, the band disbanded by 1981, over disputes concerning royalties and salaries. In late 1980, McCartney’s Beatle bandmate and collaborator, John Lennon, was shot four times by gunman Mark David Chapman, ultimately losing his life.

By the 1990’s he started to experiment with orchestral music, producing Liverpool Oratorio. In 1994, he broke away from his solo career to collaborate with Apple’s Beatles Anthology project, working with Harrison and Starr. In 1997, he was knighted for his contributions to the entertainment industry. With the start of a new decade, McCartney released the electronica album Liverpool Sound Collage. In 2001, McCartney lost another Beatle bandmate, George Harrison, lost his life to lung cancer.

In 2018, McCartney especially returned to the public eye with his involvement with the March For Our Lives demonstration, for him, the fight for gun control had been a personal one due to loosing Lennon’s death by shooting. In a statement with CNN, McCartney issued the following statement:

“One of my best friends was killed by gun violence right around here so it’s important to me not just to march today but to take action tomorrow.”

Stormy Daniels ’60 Minutes’ Interview: Full Story & Must-See Details

Adult film star Stormy Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, appeared on CBS’s 60 Minutes Sunday night to discuss details about an alleged affair with United States President Donald Trump that took place over a decade ago. Allegedly, she received around $130,000 from Trump’s attorney, Michael Cohen, as part of an agreement before the 2016 presidential election; according to reports, Daniels even offered to return the money in the hush agreement in order to speak freely about her story.

What was said during the interview?

During the interview, according to CBS, Daniels discussed what it had been like being asked to keep quiet about her story:

“I was in a parking lot, going to a fitness class with my infant daughter. T– taking, you know, the seats facing backwards in the backseat, diaper bag, you know, gettin’ all the stuff out.”

“And a guy walked up on me and said to me, ‘Leave Trump alone. Forget the story.’ And then he leaned around and looked at my daughter and said, ‘That’s a beautiful little girl. It’d be a shame if something happened to her mom.’ And then he was gone.”

“I remember going into the workout class. And my hands are shaking so much, I was afraid I was gonna– drop (my daughter).”

Daniels also discussed coming forward has caused a lot of things she already feared would happen:

“Without a doubt. I know for a fact. I believe, without a shadow of a doubt, in my heart, and some people argue that I don’t have one of those, but whatever, that I was doing the right thing. I turned down a large payday multiple times because one, I didn’t wanna kiss and tell and be labeled all the things that I’m being labeled now. I didn’t wanna take away from the legitimate and legal, I’d like to point out, career that I’ve worked very hard to establish.”

“And most importantly, I did not want my family and my child exposed to all the things that she’s being exposed to right now. because everything that I was afraid of coming out has come out anyway, and guess what? I don’t have a million dollars.”

As Daniels continued, she never saw the man involved with the incident again, saying she did not report what had happened to police because she was “scared” at the time.

What is going on in this case?

According to CNN, the White House denies the affair took place.

Daniels is currently in a legal battle with Trump over the “hush agreement,” alleged in the above story, in which Daniels was claimed to have signed just before the 2016 election, earning $130,000 from Trump’s attorney Michael Cohen for her silence. According to CNN, Daniels argues that the agreement is void as Trump himself did not sign the agreement.

The Walking Dead has been no stranger to conflict this recent season during the All Out War storyline, but the back half of the season brings with it new alliances, new betrayals, and a lot fewer heap-sters. Tonight’s episode brought us to the battle of Hilltop, where the group finally reconnected after the loss of Carl Grimes to face off against the Saviors (with or without Negan) leading the fight.

Hard Times At The Hilltop

Glen Page/AMC

Gene Page/AMC

Maggie’s morality is in for a test once a group of Saviors, with the exception of Negan whom we last saw captured at gunpoint by Jadis, the lone survivor of the heap-ster community after a Simon led massacre wiped out her entire group… which she then casually guided her recently undead friends into a compost grinder. Disgusting, but she gets props for creativity. With Negan separated from his group, the de facto “Negan-in-Charge” role falls to Simon, hell bent on eliminating the Hilltop community all together, now consisting of all remaining survivors from both Alexandria and the Kingdom, in an attempt to put this whole chapter behind them and find new communities for the Saviors to take over. Keep in mind, Maggie still has 38 Saviors being held hostage at the Hilltop… and she’s not afraid to use them to shift the odds in her favor.

As Daryl rides through the gates of Hilltop guns blazing, the Savior cars follow only to get slammed by a bus slowing their roll. This doesn’t stop the Saviors from unloading shot after shot, not to mention infected walker blood covered arrows into the community. Hoping to either kill or infect the people at Hilltop, even the captive Saviors want to fight their former comrades.

Return of The King

Glen Page/AMC

Gene Page/AMC

It’s been a while since we’ve checked in on our recovering King Ezekiel since he took a heavy loss as well as a bullet during his last encounter with the Saviors as well as escaping captivity. He’s also dealing with a personal battle, watching over the young boy Henry, recently turned killer, who’s way too eager to help join the fight. Remember, this is the kid who murdered the least threatening Savior leader Gavin with a stick through the neck in an attempt to avenge the death of his older brother, yet he brutally murdered the wrong man. Sorry kiddo! Can someone give this kid a hug instead of a weapon?

Oh wait, this isn’t that kind of show, silly me. No worries, Henry found an automatic rifle just sitting on the table that basically had his name written on it. After he strolls over to the Savior captive corral demanding to know who was responsible for killing his brother, the community gets woken up by a familiar sound. An infected Savior happens to stir just when Henry opens the gate ready to shoot them all. Naturally, the Kid Rock wannabe looking Jared who did in fact kill his brother, makes a bee line for the open gate with some of the other hostages.

Return of Rick Grimes

Glen Page/AMC

Gene Page/AMC

Enter Rick Grimes. The man with the hatchet storms Hilltop while the remaining saviors flee to their vans. Maggie is not thrilled O.G. Negan wasn’t on site, but after Rick told her he was a tad busy last episode in what can only be described as the equivalent of a post apocalyptic WWE Smackdown installment with Negan, she felt better knowing he was off licking his wounds. While the group works on refortifying the Hilltop and tending to the wounded, there’s a lot of tension in the air, per usual.

Dwight shot Tara with an arrow (he’s on our side, right?) and poor Tobin, everybody’s favorite Home Depot model/construction worker, was on the receiving end of a nasty stab in the stomach by a knife laced with walker guts. Hours into the night, we watch as Tobin not only turns into a walker, but bites the female doctor (a profession which basically guarantees your death on this show) in the trailer right about the same time another member of the Hilltop who took an arrow in the leg (yep, also dipped in undead ooze) turns right in the hallway of Barrington House, the main building inside Hilltop, right where everyone is clustered together soundly sleeping.

Flashbacks to the flu outbreak in the prison, anyone?

While Rick and company take out the dead now running rampant both inside and out of the community, Carol puts down Tobin while Rick deduces after seeing Negan’s bat covered in infected guts… this was definitely no accident. Tara definitely thinks she’s a goner after hearing this.

We Need To Talk About Morgan

Gene Page/AMC

Morgan Jones, the man who does not die, is back aboard the crazy train! Dude has been going strong since introduced in the very first episode of the series, having one of the most intense and propelling character arcs throughout the entirety of The Walking Dead. It certainly doesn’t hurt that actor Lennie James is a national treasure – so good in fact show runner Scott Gimple is bringing him over to the companion series Fear The Walking Dead. That begs the question how Morgan’s current mental state will propel him to abandon the people he cares about and fights beside in search of something so dire his only option will be to start over somewhere less reminiscent of so much loss and death.

Throughout the episode we saw Morgan hold his own on the battlefield, but his scenes in seclusion showed a far more violent battle raging in his mind. Confronted with the bloody hallucination of the Savior liaison to the Kingdom, Gavin, whom was recently murdered by the young boy Henry looking for revenge against the men responsible for killing his brother. The means used to kill Gavin, a stick being plunged through his throat, was a method of fighting Morgan had trained both Henry and his brother in. The “ghost of Gavin” kept telling Morgan that HE was the one who should have done it, not the boy. No doubt Morgan is filled with guilt not only for the wrong man being killed, but also for teaching Henry how to execute a kill the same method he uses. Also, not much stops Morgan from killing someone once he decides to CLEAR, so in his mind, Gavin should have died at his hands.

After taking a break from believing all life is precious… here’s a reminder from an original scene plus an extended cut of the same scene from Season 3 (and yes, the prediction of Carl dying is extremely eerie).

In an episode packed with emotion, death, and loyalty, I have high hopes for the second half of the season. With so many people stepping up, undoubtedly mean many more will fall.

Police are currently investigating a sexual assault report from a University of Texas student. The unidentified female student allegedly told authorities she was groped and “digitally penetrated” while attending a party at the Sigma Alpha Mu fraternity house.

According to reports, three fraternity chapters hosted the party as part of “Round Up Weekend.” Round Up Weekend is when the various Greek Life organizations at the University of Texas also host concerts and philanthropic events. Reports indicate that about 875 people were at Sigma Theta chapter house at the time of the party.

Chapter president Jordan Coff told the American-Statesman that the alleged attacker was not a member of the Sigma Theta chapter.

“The victim is a good friend of mine and very well known within our chapter and is very well aware of the members of our chapter. She was not dancing with him. She has a boyfriend. That’s what I’ve gathered so far,” Coff said.

Furthermore, Coff said that the Sigma Theta chapter is working with police, however, he doesn’t know if there is a person of interest or a description available of the attacker.

A spokesman for Austin police had no additional information about the investigation an is asking for information is asked to call Austin police at 512-472-8477.

That is all the information available at this time.

Former New Orleans Saints Cheerleader Is Suing The Team For Discrimination

Bailey Davis, a former cheerleader for the NFL’s New Orleans Saints, is suing the franchise for discrimination after she claims she was fired for posting a picture of herself in a bathing suit.

Davis, who cheered for the New Orleans Saints for three years, says the team claimed she had violated their “extremely strict” code of conduct. Davis says the Saints officials accused her of appearing “nude, semi-nude or in lingerie and attending a party with the franchise’s football players” – both of which are prohibited by the franchise’s code of conduct.

However, Davis denies breaching any team protocols and has now filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission as a result of her dismissal.

According to the New York Times, the photograph in question appeared on the cheerleader’s Instagram page in January. She was fired four days later.

via New York Times:

When she posted a photo of herself in a one-piece outfit in January, Saints officials accused her, despite her protests, of breaking rules that prohibit cheerleaders from appearing nude, seminude or in lingerie. For this indiscretion, and amid an inquiry about her attending a party with Saints players — another regulation that she denies violating — Davis was fired after what she said were three largely trouble-free seasons.

Now Davis has filed a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the federal agency that enforces civil rights laws. The complaint accuses the Saints of having two sets of rules — one for the team’s cheerleaders, who are all women, and another for its players. The complaint, which asserts that the rules in New Orleans reflect outdated views of women, follows a number of gender-related struggles in the N.F.L. over domestic violence and sexual harassment among players and league employees.

According to the Saints’ handbook for cheerleaders, as well as internal emails and text messages reviewed by The New York Times and interviews with Davis, the Saints have an anti-fraternization policy that requires cheerleaders to avoid contact with players, in person or online, even though players are not penalized for pursuing such engagement with cheerleaders. The cheerleaders must block players from following them on social media and cannot post photos of themselves in Saints gear, denying them the chance to market themselves. The players are not required to do any of these things.

The Times article further details the Saints’ bizarre code of conduct for cheerleaders. For example, cheerleaders are not allowed to wear the franchise’s merchandise despite the fact they are employed by the team.

While Davis will not be able to cheer for the Saints again, she said she filed her discrimination case because wanted other cheerleaders by forcing the team to change its rules.

MLB Predictions 2018: Projecting The NL East Standings

For the last few years, the NL East Division has mostly been dominated by Bryce Harper and the elite hitters of the Washington Nationals. Although Washington is rightfully favored to win the NL East by the end of the season, several teams are slowly but surely working towards becoming respectable and eventually supremely competitive. As of now, the team with the best chance of challenging the Nationals for the division title is the New York Mets. Offensively, the Mets are overly-reliant on their power hitters to score runs in large bunches, something that was exciting to watch although not particularly helpful in terms of winning games consistently. However, possessing what could be the 2018 NL Cy Young Award winner in Noah Syndergaard, the Mets ace will be the driving force in allowing them to be competitive this year. Combined with the abilities of Jacob deGrom and a healthy Matt Harvey, the Mets may have enough at the front end of their rotation to at least make the Nationals sweat throughout this season.

5. Miami Marlins

Instagram Photo

If there is any team in baseball this season that is guaranteed to lose 100 games, it is the woeful Miami Marlins. Purging their roster of any and all players that were perceived financial liabilities, the only two notable/familiar players left on the Marlins roster is catcher J.T. Realmuto (3.6 WAR) and left fielder Marcell Ozuna (4.8 WAR). With a starting rotation that has just one pitcher who posted an ERA below 4.00 last season, the Marlins and their fans are going to experience what will be a grueling and unbearable season in 2018.

4. Atlanta Braves

Instagram Photo

As their youthful starting pitchers slowly begin to develop both their confidence and intriguing skill sets, the Braves are poised to be more competitive and exciting to watch this year. However, all eyes will be on wunderkind centerfielder Ronald Acuna Jr., who will assuredly become the Braves regular starting middle outfielder at some point this season. Although the Braves will inevitably lose more games than they will win this season, the future is starting to look bright for a team that has high-ceiling playmakers to make them immensely competitive by next season.

3. Philadelphia Phillies

Instagram Photo

With the signing of starting pitcher Jake Arrieta during the early part of Spring Training, you have to believe that the Phillies have hopes of at least competing for an NL Wild Card spot this year. What will be interesting to see is how far the Phillies youthful in fielding corps can take them this year, with first baseman Rhys Hoskins offering up the most intrigue in terms of his prowess as an efficient power hitter. Even if the Phillies fall short of making it to the postseason yet again, they will at least have proven that the last few years of professional ineptitude were not experienced in vain.

2. New York Mets

Instagram Photo

If the Mets rotation can stay healthy and play up to its potential, this is a team that could very well challenge the Nationals for the NL East crown throughout the season. However, even if the Mets starting pitchers are able to stifle opposing offenses consistently, their bats will need to be at least average when it comes to hitting the baseball and getting on base. It may be somewhat of a long shot to expect the Mets to be what they were in 2015 when they made it to the World Series, but they at least have enough to seriously contend for an NL Wild Card spot by the end of the season.

1. Washington Nationals

Instagram Photo

A team that has consistently underachieved when it comes to going far in the postseason, this may be the final for the Nationals to make a serious run at getting to and winning a World Series. With superstar Bryce Harper going into a contract year, the Nationals should rightfully expect their exceptional playmaker to have one of his best seasons to date at both the plate and in the outfield. If starting pitchers Max Scherzer and Stephen Strasburg can stay relatively healthy this season, the Nationals will once again be a dominant force during the regular season.

Davis said she filed her discrimination case because wants to help other cheerleaders by forcing the team to change their discriminatory rules.

Virgil Abloh Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Abloh Worth?

Virgil Abloh is an American creative designer, DJ, and the founder of the Milan-based fashion label Off-White. Abloh is currently one of the world’s most influential fashion designers, particularly in the world of streetwear. He was Kanye West’s creative director and most recently, Louis Vuitton named him their new Men’s Artistic Director. Abloh’s first show for Louis Vuitton will be in June during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris.

Virgil Abloh Net Worth As Of 2018: $3 Million

Promotions are always nice for the ol’ savings account. Abloh just got one and apparently, he’s already working from a solid foundation. From what I know about the biz, that’ll be good for his financials, 401k’s, stock markets, and other money words.  Let’s check out where it all began.

Early Years

Instagram Photo

Virgil Abloh (37) was born in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Rockford, Illinois where he attended Boylan Catholic High School. He received his Masters of Architecture at the Illinois Institute of Technology and his undergraduate in Civil Engineering at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Abloh’s parents are from Ghana.

2003-2011

Instagram Photo

The same day Abloh graduated in 2003, he met Kanye West. He first met with West’s then-manager John Monopoly who introduced him to Kanye. Abloh’s knowledge impressed West, and he became a member of his creative team shortly thereafter. Abloh has collaborated West on many projects since then. In 2011, he was the art director for the 2011 Jay-Z / Kanye West album Watch the Throne, for which he was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Recording Package.

2012-2013

Instagram Photo

Abloh launched the label Pyrex Vision in 2012. The labels screen printed logos, slogans, and loud graphics onto deadstock clothing from Ralph Lauren and Champion. His unusual approach to fashion and high-end streetwear brand garnered him a cult following and he continually sold out his collections. Nonetheless, Abloh shut down Pyrex Vision after just one year to pursue other projects. He stated, Pyrex “wasn’t made to be a clothing brand.”

2013-Present

Instagram Photo

Pyrex Vision served as a springboard for Virgil Abloh to make a name for himself in the high fashion world. As a result, he launched Off-White in 2013. The brand’s style was a large departure from the loud styles of Pyrex Vision but is still under the high-end streetwear umbrella. Based on their prices, it’s verrryy high-end. A long-sleeve t-shirt goes for $400-500 for reference… Off-White was a hit for Abloh and in less than five years of operation, they have established themselves as an industry leader in streetwear clothing. Because of his success with Off-White, Abloh was recently named the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s wear line.

Steve Jobs Tried Warning Mark Zuckerberg About Facebook’s Privacy Issues

Ever since his death in 2011 (and maybe even when he still walked the Earth), Steve Jobs achieved somewhat of a mythical status for his world-shaping intellect and vision. Given the trajectory of Apple since his death (have you seen their latest commercial advertising the ability to buy shit with your face?) it’s not hard to see why: Jobs, despite whatever personal shortcomings he may have had, was truly a visionary.

And apparently, his technological foresight was not only limited to Apple, as he had wise words for Facebook way back in 2010, warning that their privacy policy should be spelled out in “plain English and repeatedly.” In the wake of the Cambridge Analytica scandal, one has to imagine that Mark Zuckerberg is wishing he had headed Jobs’ warning.

Speaking at The Wall Street Journal’s All Things Digital 2010 conference in Los Angeles, Jobs said that
‘privacy means people know what they’re signing up for, in plain English, and repeatedly.” Zuckerberg was in the audience when jobs made the comment.

“I’m an optimist; I believe people are smart, and some people want to share more data than other people do. Ask them. Ask them every time. Make them tell you to stop asking them if they get tired of your asking them. Let them know precisely what you’re going to do with their data. A lot of people in the Valley think we’re really old-fashioned about this, and maybe we are, but we worry about stuff like this.”

Tallulah Willis is the daughter of legendary action movie star Bruce Willis and actress Demi Moore. Willis was born on February 3, 1994, in Los Angeles, California. She has three acting credit to her name, the most notable of which being in The Whole Ten Yards, with her father Bruce Willis. Other than a couple of minor acting roles as a child, Willis has not pursued her own career in acting despite her parents’ history in the profession.

Tallulah Willis has two older sisters: Rumer, 29, and Scout, 26. Both Rumer and Scout Willis are also the daughters of Willis and Moore.

In the past, both Tallulah and her sisters have suffered from addiction issues. In an Instagram post, Willis once wrote:

““3 years ago I was a malnourished string bean with aches that echoed throughout my soul,” she wrote. However the internal cries to tend my most blistered and deep wounds repeatedly fell on deaf ears. I did not value myself, my life or my body and as such I was constantly punishing for not being enough. Self-annihilation fueled with medicating left me a shell, and the world on mute.”
