A Washington University student has been suspended after an AR-15 assault rifle was found on the Washington University campus at a fraternity house. Two guns have been confiscated from the fraternity.

A statement from Washington University from Chancellor Mark S. Wrighton said that school officials received a tip about potential weapons on campus at the Phi Delta fraternity house. Following a search of the Phi Delta Theta fraternity house, authorities found an AR-15 rifle. Furthermore, a handgun was found in a vehicle parked in a nearby parking garage.

The university said in a statement that both guns belonged to a member of the fraternity, however, there was no threat to the community.

According to KSDK, the email said the weapons “put at risk members of our university community and is a very serious violation of university policy.”

The unidentified student was temporarily suspended from the school and removed from campus until a formal decision is made. Furthermore, the Phi Delta fraternity is now permanently suspended and all members have been asked to vacate the house.

In November 2017, we reported on the death of Andrew Coffey, a 20-year-old Florida State University student who was found dead at a party due to alcohol poisoning.

Coffey, from Pompano Beach, was found on the morning of Friday, November 3 at 10:23 AM EST after the Tallahassee Police Department received a call about an unresponsive person at a home on Buena Vista Drive. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Now, almost four months after the death of their son, Coffey’s parents are suing the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, Thomas and Sandra Coffey are suing the Pi Kappa Phi’s national chapter and the nine fraternity members who were charged with criminal hazing after Coffey’s death. The nine students who were charged are Luke Kluttz, Clayton Muehlstein, Brett Birmingham, Conner Ravelo, Christopher Hamlin, Anthony Petagine, Anthony Oppenheimer, John Ray and Kyle Bauer.

The suit was filed in Leon County’s circuit court.

Miami lawyer David Bianchi, who is representing the family, said the suit does not specify an amount that they are seeking in damages. He also said that the university is not among the parties being sued even though the chapter adviser is employed by Florida State and is included.

“The university did not do anything wrong. They are just as upset as everyone else,” Bianchi said. “We sued those who had a role in Andrew’s death.”

The state medical examiner said Coffey had a blood alcohol level of .447 at the time of the autopsy. The 20-year old junior drank a lethal amount of bourbon and malt liquor at the fraternity’s “Big Brother Night” party, which was held at an off-campus home. The lawsuit does include the two people who rented the home to the fraternity.

Coffey was a civil engineering student who graduated from Pompano High School in 2015.

Rev. Billy Graham, prominent Christian evangelist, dead at 99 years old. A family spokesman says he died this morning at his North Carolina home from natural causes.

According to Jeremy Blume, a spokesman for Billy, Graham passed away on Wednesday morning at 8:00am at his home in Montreat, North Carolina, of natural causes.

Graham, who preached the Gospel to more people in live audiences than anyone else in history (nearly 215 million people) is widely considered to be the most influential preacher of the 20th century. In 2008, Graham’s estimated lifetime audience, including radio and television broadcasts, topped 2.2 billion.

The longtime evangelist appeared on Gallup’s list of most admired men and women 60 times since 1955 — every year the research company asked the question.

“America’s Pastor” came from modest means and grew up on a dairy farm in Charlotte, North Carolina. He found his spiritual path at 16, charmed by the traveling minister and temperance movement leader Mordecai Ham. Graham later moved to Florida and was ordained there in 1939.

Graham was known for his sense of humor and for maintaining a nonpartisan Christian view, which earned him some criticism. But his dedication to ministry and unity is long evident and best remembered in his refusal to pay heed to segregation policies, forcing churches to integrate for his services.

Graham was a spiritual adviser to many United States presidents, providing spiritual counsel for every president from Harry Truman to Barack Obama. Additionally, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. considered Graham a close friend, saying of the Evangelical reverend:

“Had it not been for the ministry of my good friend Dr. Billy Graham, my work in the Civil Rights Movement would not have been as successful as it has been.”

He had celebrated his 99th birthday on November 7, 2017.

During his life, Grahman was quoted as saying “My home is in Heaven. I’m just traveling through this world.”

Benjamin Kelly, a Florida district secretary for Rep. Shawn Harrison, was fired from his role after he accused two survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas school shooting of being crisis actors.

GOP Rep. Shawn Harrison tweeted on Tuesday night that Kelly had been fired due to his controversial remarks.

“Tonight Mr. Kelly was terminated from his position as my District Secretary. I am appalled at and strongly denounce his comments about the Parkland students. I am again sorry for any pain this has caused the grieving families of this tragedy.”

Mr. Kelly, a 61-year-old Republican aide, said to a Tampa Bay Times reporter that two of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students being seen on the news, specifically Emma Gonzalez and David Hogg, were ‘actors’ who “travel to various crisis when they happen.”

Benjamin Kelly referred to a picture attached to a Times story, posted online hours earlier, about how Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School students were drawing attacks for their outspokenness. The picture showed David Hogg and Emma Gonzalez speaking on CNN.

Asked for backup to his claim, Kelly sent another email — again from his official myfloridahouse.gov account — that included a link to a conspiracy video on YouTube. The video showed Hogg in a news clip from California over a dispute with a lifeguard involving a boogie board. Hogg had posted a video of the confrontation with the lifeguard on YouTube and it “went viral,” a news reporter said. Now, conspiracy theorists have questioned what Hogg was doing in another state, some branding him a “crisis actor.”

Wrote Kelly to the Times: “There is a clip on you tube that shows Mr. Hogg out in California. (I guess he transferred?)”

In an email to Alex Leary, a reporter for the Tampa Bay Times, Kelly said “both kids in the picture are not students here but actors who travel to various crisis when they happen.” He also sent a link to a YouTube video of Hogg in a news clip from California six months prior to the shooting.

Furthermore, Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of President Trump from his first of three marriages, liked a tweet that suggested that the 17-year-old Hogg had been “coached” by his father, a former FBI agent, to speak out against President Trump and gun control rights.

“I think it’s a testament to the sick immaturity and broken state of our government when these people feel the need to pedal conspiracy theories about people that were in a school shooting where 17 people died and it just makes me sick,” Hogg said in response to Trump Jr’s Twitter activity.

Arguably the most underpaid and underappreciated position in the NFL, cornerbacks are rarely praised yet have one of the most difficult jobs in football: keeping up with wide receivers that are the beneficiaries of the rules that overprotect them. Although speed and agility are essential to being an effective cornerback, it is also equally as important for a pass defenseman to be cerebral and instinctual when anticipating and reading receiving routes. Even then, becoming and maintaining elite cornerback status is tremendously difficult as ticky-tacky pass interference calls are often severely detrimental to the success of these hard working and dynamic athletes. Still, cornerbacks have managed to make the necessary adjustments and have exhibited a degree of elevated professionalism despite the skewed rules in the pros. This year, any of the following cornerbacks could set the market value for a position that should be compensated properly for what they are asked to do on a regular basis.

10. Patrick Robinson

Coming off an impressive season with the Philadelphia Eagles where he tied his career high in interceptions (4), Patrick Robinson is an aging yet highly effective defensive back. Considering he was able to play in all 16 games in 2017, Robinson has the durability and skill set to still be a starting corner in the NFL.

9. Bashaud Breeland

What Bashaud Breeland lacked in total interceptions in 2017 (1) he made up for with his strong abilities as a vicious tackler (50 combined tackles). At 26 years of age, Breeland is still in his prime and could very well hit his peak from a statistical perspective in the coming years.

8. Morris Claiborne

Highly athletic yet somewhat injury prone (has not played a full NFL season since entering the league in 2012), Morris Claiborne has a tremendous amount of potential to be great but has yet to live up to his draft status when he was the 6th overall pick in 2012. Given enough opportunities and provided he can stay healthy, Claiborne is a high risk and high reward player that is worth a one-year contract to prove himself.

7. E.J. Gaines

A capable and vicious tackler in the open field (48 solo tackles), E.J. Gaines is a tenacious defensive playmaker that is only being held back by his wavering health concerns. Forcing three fumbles last year with the Buffalo Bills, Gaines clearly has the mindset and physicality to be an elite cornerback in the NFL.

6. Rashaan Melvin

Although the secondary of the Indianapolis Colts was largely terrible in 2017, Rashaan Melvin was the lone bright spot as he compiled three interceptions and deflected 13 passes (both career highs). On a team that is more functional and strategically adept at getting the most out of their players, Melvin could take the next step in his career and thrive as an opportunistic corner in the NFL.

5. Prince Amukamara

Compiling 45 solo tackles with the Chicago Bears, Prince Amukamara is a highly physical tackling corner that has the hands to pick off an ill-advised pass by the opposition. Provided he can stay healthy, Amukamara is still an effective and fearless defensive back that can bully most of the top receivers in the NFL.

4. Kyle Fuller

Deflecting 22 passes while recording 69 combined tackles (both career highs), Kyle Fuller was a dynamic player for a Chicago Bears defense that flashed moments of greatness in 2017. Considering his heightened awareness in coverage and tackling abilities, Fuller is a great cornerback that has the potential to reach elite status in 2018.

3. Aaron Colvin

Although Aaron Colvin’s numbers were not particularly impressive last year, this has mostly to do with the fact that the young corner was not featured prominently as a starter in the Jacksonville Jaguars secondary. Given an opportunity to start consistently, Colvin has all of the physical tools and instincts to be a reliable defensive back in the NFL.

2. Trumaine Johnson

Whether it was making plays as a tackler, deflecting passes, or picking off errant throws, Trumaine Johnson did it all and then some as a dynamic and deadly defensive playmaker. Assuming the Los Angeles Rams do not retain Johnson for his coveted services, he could very well be due for a lucrative contract on a team that is looking to seriously beef up their secondary.

1. Malcolm Butler

Regardless of how you view Malcolm Butler being benched during the Super Bowl, the veteran cornerback has everything a team could want in a consummate playmaker. Forcing three fumbles in 2017, Butler was rarely content with simply tackling his opponent. Combined with his pass rushing abilities, Malcolm Butler is a versatile defensive back that still has plenty to offer a team that will not take his elite abilities for granted.

All 24 fraternity chapters at Miami University have been after reports of hazing. The school’s fraternities were ordered to cease all activity, meaning all chapter and social events are suspended indefinitely.

According to reports, despite the suspensions, all of the school’s chapters are still permitted to initiate new members. However, they must do so by Friday, February 23. The university’s IFC says that family weekends and philanthropy services will also be allowed to continue if approved.

The IFC said the school is “acting for the betterment of individuals and the whole to go along with their active stance against hazing.”

IFC President Gregory P. Crawford also released a statement Tuesday. Crawford said in part that Miami University does not tolerate hazing and that the school is working with Oxford Police to investigate the reports.

Crawford says the school plans to hold the organizations and individuals accountable.

The school did not specify what the hazing reports involved, but Crawford’s statement encourages anyone with information or who suspects dangerous behavior or misconduct to report it to Miami University Police.

I have accepted exercising into my life as a necessity — similar to getting a good night sleep and drinking water — but I don’t enjoy it, not even a little bit. In all seriousness, who enjoys putting physical stress on their body? Well, to all my other normals out there, we may have found our way out: booze.

According to a new study led by University of California neurologist (brain!) Claudia Kawas, subjects who drank about two glasses of beer or wine a day were 18 percent less likely to experience a premature death. For all the non-math brains in the room, that makes you 1/5 more likely to survive. Excellent odds if you ask me.

As for participants who exercised 15 to 45 minutes a day? They cut the same risk by only 11 percent.

The research track 1,700 nonagenarians enrolled in the 90+ Study that began in 2003 to explore impacts of daily habits on longevity.

“I have no explanation for it, but I do firmly believe that modest drinking improves longevity,” Kawas stated over the weekend at the American Association for the Advancement of Science annual conference in Austin, Texas. Other factors were found to boost longevity, including weight. Participants who were slightly overweight — but not obese — cut their odds of an early death by 3 percent.

“It’s not bad to be skinny when you’re young but it’s very bad to be skinny when you’re old,” Kawas noted in her address.

Subjects who kept busy with a daily hobby two hours a day were 21 percent less likely to die early, while those who drank two cups of coffee a day cut that risk by 10 percent. Further study is needed to determine how habits impact longevity beyond people’s genetic makeups.

And here I was, planning to go to the gym after work like an IDIOT when I should just have myself a light jog to the liquor store.

Confident leaders of the defensive backfield, safeties are required to possess high football I.Q.’s while being extremely physical when it comes to making tremendous plays in the open field. Although having the necessary physical attributes is essential to being an elite defensive back, it is perhaps even more important for safeties to have the instincts and wherewithal to direct their fellow teammates in the secondary. While it’s incredibly difficult to be an elite safety for a long period of time, there are several intriguing defensemen that have the potential to take the next vital step to becoming widely recognized and well-paid athletes. For any defense to be truly dominant, having multiple safeties that can make plays consistently is essential in a league that is based on preventing electric quarterback plays.

10. Reggie Nelson

Although he may not be the acrobatic intercepting machine he was during his prime, Reggie Nelson is still an elite tackler that is capable of forcing fumbles consistently. At age 34, Nelson is a bit of a risk to acquire, but his durability and physicality will still allow him to be a coveted piece for a NFL defensive backfield.

9. Tyvon Branch

Despite playing in just nine games last season for the Arizona Cardinals, Tyvon Branch was incredibly productive as he recorded 69 combined tackles. Even at age 31, Branch is still an effective strong safety that can add a bit more power to a secondary that is looking to become much more physical and intimidating.

8. Michael Thomas

When he has the chance to start consistently, Michael Thomas is a brutal and fearless tackler that can quickly bring down an opposing receiver. Under an intelligent defensive coordinator, Thomas could flourish and finally get a chance to utilize his immense strength consistently.

7. Bradley McDougald

At 6’1″ and 215 lbs, Bradley McDougald has the size to be a dominant strong safety consistently. Although McDougald has been largely utilized as a gang tackler, he possesses the physicality and strength to be an exceptional open-field tackler.

6. Tre Boston

Garnering five interceptions and 79 combined tackles (both career highs), Tre Boston emphatically displayed his abilities as a vigilant and opportunistic safety. Given his youth (age 25), Boston has most likely not hit his ceiling yet and could become a truly elite free safety in 2018.

5. Tavon Wilson

Although Wilson only played in 10 games for the Detroit Lions last season, he still managed to force a fumble and record a pick on the season. Although his injury history is a bit concerning, Wilson has the speed and awareness to be an effective safety for a team that is willing to provide him with the requisite opportunities to perform.

4. Morgan Burnett

While the secondary for the Green Bay Packers was not exactly a lockdown defensive unit in 2017, Morgan Burnett did his part in the defensive backfield as he recorded 68 combined tackles despite playing in just 12 games. Given more opportunities to start, Burnett has the length and vision to be a consistent pass deflector.

3. Kenny Vaccaro

Setting a career high in interceptions (3), Kenny Vaccaro was a vital piece of a New Orleans Saints defense that was physically imposing throughout the 2017 season. Given his abilities as a pass rusher to go along with his protection skills in the secondary, Vaccaro is a multi-dimensional defensive weapon that has a lot to offer any NFL team that is willing to meet his demands from a monetary perspective.

2. Eric Reid

An effective tackler with great hands for making plays when covering receivers, Eric Reid is an instinctual safety that does a fantastic job of directing his fellow teammates in the secondary. Although the San Francisco 49ers will likely sign Reid to a fairly lucrative deal, it would behoove the gifted defensive back to at least test the open market in free agency.

1. Lamarcus Joyner

Despite his slight stature (5’8″), LaMarcus Joyner is an incredibly fast and intelligent free safety that is tenacious when disrupting plays in the open field. Between his fantastic hands and breakneck speed, Joyner is a deadly defensive playmaker that will make opposing quarterbacks pay dearly for throwing the football anywhere in his vicinity.

If you’ve been watching the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, chances are you’ve noticed that the Russian athletes in the games, due to the country’s doping scandal, aren’t competing under the flag of their homeland but rather under the moniker the “Olympic Athletes of Russia (OAR).” It has not gone unnoticed by the band Of A Revolution (O.A.R.), and it has sort of becoming a running joke during the games. Social media has also had a ton of fun with the name overlap:

As a matter of fact, the band has seen its Spotify streams skyrocket since the start of the games. According to the Washington Post, the band’s streams have increased by an incredible 46% since the start of the games on February 9th. Roberge simply stated “Oh My God, are you kidding? That’s crazy!” when he heard the news.

In addition to an increase in Spotify streams, the number of O.A.R’s google searches have increased as well. Since the Olympics started, it seems people can’t get enough of O.A.R.

O.A.R is a jam band formed by Marc Roberge and drummer Chris Culos in 1994. They experienced some success in the 90s but really exploded in popularity in the 2000s with hit singles such as “Shattered” and “Hey Girl.” Even if you’ve never been a fan, you’ve probably heard an O.A.R song at your tailgate or on the beach in the summertime.

All this attention really couldn’t have come at a better time for the band. They released their latest single “Just Like Paradise” on February 16th and also recently announced a new tour that kicks off on July 24th. Police are currently responding to reports of a bomb threat at the Walter Johnson High School in Montgomery County, Maryland. The bomb threat call came in at 10:52 a.m. EST.

According to Sgt. Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokeswoman, authorities are currently searching the school. All of the school’s students, teachers, and faculty members have been evacuated to the football field.

Nearby Winston Churchill High School also received a bomb threat today, however, after the school was evacuated around 7 a.m. EST, police determined that the school was safe.

The bomb threat comes one week after the deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida that left 17 people dead.

Montgomery County Public Schools spokesman Derek Turner said of the bomb threats:

“We’re just seeing a lot of people making threats and calls, none of them being really credible so far. But we expect to see more of this in the coming days, people taking advantage of people’s fears.”

Last Friday, two days after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas shooting, Montgomery County police responded to about a dozen threats.

A.S. Roma of Italy and FC Shakhtar Donetsk of Ukraine are going head to head in today’s Championship League Round of 16 Match.

For their past three leauge games, Shakhtar proved victorious, taking nine points and netting wins against Napoli and Manchester City. On their side, Roma is getting themselves ready, having recently signed on Cengiz Under for 13.4 million euros last summer. To put their past into context, Shakhtar defeated Roma in 2010/11 round of 16. That said, it could be anyone’s game! Could Roma make use of this second chance?

According to UEFA, Shakhtar coach Paulo Fonseca gave the following statement:

“It will be a very intense, tactical game. Both teams will impose their styles and refuse to betray their footballing principles. Roma are a great team with strong players and an excellent coach. I can’t compare this Shakhtar team with the one that beat Roma in 2011 [under Mircea Lucescu]. Now we have a completely different team. This is a different style of football.”

For his part, Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco gave the following statement:

“We’ve got to try to avoid dips in concentration. There will be times when we will be in charge, and then there will be moments when we are up against a side who, being so good on the ball, will force us on to the back foot. I’ve seen my team improve a lot, and I hope to see more evidence here. We will try to maintain continuity with the way we’ve been playing of late.”

On February 21st, students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, the site of February 14th’s shooting, led a protest against gun violence in Florida’s capital of Tallahassee. Beginning at 12:00 PM, the rally is advocating for stricter gun control laws to curb the string of mass shootings that have plagued the United States.

In addition to the students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Florida State University and Florida A&M students have descended on the capitol building as well in a show of support.

Adebukola Ogidan, a FAMU student, said: “A school is a place to learn about the world around you, but not to learn to be afraid of the world.”

As of 12:15 PM, the crowd was nearing 3,000 people.

President Trump is scheduled to hold a listening session with Parkland, Sandy Hook, and Columbine survivors as well as gun control advocates at 4:15 PM EST on February 21st.

Manchester United, who currently sit second in the Premier League table, head to Spain to take on La Liga side Sevilla in the first leg of the Champions League Round of 16 matchup.

United, who topped Group A with 15 points, head to Sevilla, who came second in Group E behind Liverpool with 9 points. While Manchester United are slightly favored in today’s matchup, Sevilla is not to be taken lightly, as they won the Europa League n 2014, 2015, and 2016.

With the Red Devils on the road for the first leg, look for Jose Mourinho’s side to grab at least one all-important away goal.

Assuming we’re in the trust tree, I have something to admit: I’m new to the Silicon Valley hype train, as I’ve only consumed the show through binge watching. So when the show returns for its fifth season in late March, it will be my first watching live with the rest of you.

While fans are worried about how the show will carry on with TJ Miller’s Erlich Bachman character, I’ve always argued that the show’s comedic high points are situational: Richard’s awkwardness, Gilfoyle’s dry humor, Dinesh’s misplaced arrogance, etc. Sure, Erlich was a funny character in doses, but he was by no means carrying the show.

So as long as Gilfoyle is still being a dick and Richard still a weirdo, I have a feeling that Silicon Valley  will turn out just fine, as it has and then some for the past five season.

Silicon Valley is an American comedy television series created by Mike Judge, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky. The series, which premiered on HBO on April 6, 2014, focuses on five young men who founded a startup company in the Silicon Valley are of California.

Season five will premiere on HBO on Sunday, March 25, 2018.

If you’re being honest with yourself — which you should always be — then there’s no other way of slicing it: Justice League STUNK.

The plot was a disaster and the CGI was worse. The movie had the tone of two different films mashed into one. Ben Affleck’s Batman, who was surprisingly the best part of Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, was the epitome of an actor just going through the motions to cash a check.  Even Wonder Woman, as this trailer deftly points out, was a shell of the heroic version of herself seen in her origin movie.

Could this abomination of a movie been avoided? Tough to say.

Fanboys are currently clamoring Zack Snyder’s cut of the film — the version made before Joss Whedon got his grubby one-liner filled borderline-misogynistic hands on it — however, those same fanboys were the ones ripping him for Batman v. Superman. So you KNOW Justice League is bad if it’s making fans remember BvS in a favorable light.

As far as fans know, Warner Bros. is planning to go full steam ahead with their DCEU, so hopefully, they make the necessary course corrections that produce more films like Wonder Woman and less like Justice League.

Marvel has released the first trailer for season 2 of Netflix’s Jessica Jones, and it’s safe to say that the private detective is still pretty pissed off.

Krystin Ritter plays the titular hero, Jessica Jones, a hard-drinking, foul-mouthed detective that kicks all sorts of ass. Fans last saw Jones in The Defenders, Netflix’s mini-version of the Avengers, which saw Jessica team up with fellow heroes Daredevil, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist to take down an enemy that threatened to destroy New York City.

If the first trailer for Season 2 is any indication, Jessica is still angry but, even though she would never call herself one, still dedicated to being a hero. Most of Season 1’s cast including Carrie Anne-Moss, Rachael Taylor, and Eka Darville are back for Jessica’s second go round. Also returning is David Tennant as Kilgrave, who was seemingly killed at the end of Season 1. It remains to be seen how he will fit into this season’s story but it will likely involve a lot of head games.
