UFC 221 is happening February 10th, 2018, broadcasting from all the way down under in Perth, Australia. The event is already being hotly anticipated by fans who are eager to watch the showdown between Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero and the division’s middleweight champion Luke Rockhold. The match was initially set to be between Rockhold and Robert Whittaker, but due to an injury, a change in line up gave us Romero instead. The opponent change likely meant big game plan changes for Rockhold since Romero and Whittaker are very different fighters.

The co-main card features heavyweight favorite Mark Hunt going up against up-and-coming American Curtis Blaydes. No matter who you may be rooting for on Saturday, odds are it’s going to be a wild fight.

Who Is Arnold Perry? Info About Ohio Man

Arnold Perry, an Ohio man who impregnated two 14-year-old twins and their 12-year-old sister while living in their home, has been sentenced to 27 years in prison on charges of rape and sexual battery.

It is believed that the two girls were impregnated in 2015 and 2016, with Perry, now 34 years of age, committing similar crimes when he was a juvenile.

Assistant Mahoning County Prosecutor Jennifer McLaughlin, who had been the one to sentence Perry, gave the following statement:

“These girls will suffer the rest of their lives because of this.”

Defense attorney Mark Lavelle said in court that Perry’s case was the most heinous he had ever handled but argued that he should be sentenced to somewhere between 15 to 16 years in prison due to mental health issues.

The babies are to be raised by the girls’ mother and will have no involvement from Perry’s family.

Who is Arnold Perry?

According to The Vindicator, Perry was a friend of the family of his victims. They allowed him to stay with them during a period in which he was believed to be homeless.

It is believed that Perry also suffered a brain injury as a child that prevents him from having feelings about his action; as mentioned, this is why his defense attorney called for leniency due to Perry’s reported mental health issues.

Perry took a guilty plea in November to the charges against him, two counts of rape and one count of sexual battery, calling for 25 years in prison. Despite this, he was given two additional years during his sentencing. Due to the nature of his crimes, upon his release from prison, he must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

According to Time, before receiving his sentencing, he tried to apologize to the family, offering the following statement:

“I know now what I did was wrong. I wish I could take it back.”

Henry Delaney Cause Of Death: How Did Comedian’s Son Die?

Comedian Rob Delaney has recently announced the death of his two-year-old son, Henry, who had been diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2016.

According to his father, Henry was initially diagnosed with the tumor after he was noticed to have undergone weight loss and vomiting spells shortly after his first birthday. Henry had surgery to remove the tumor in early 2017 but his cancer returned by the fall of 2017. Although Henry died in January, Rob only released news of his son’s passing to the public in a Facebook post the following February.

Rob released the following message on social media:

“My wife and Henry’s older brothers and I are devastated of course. Henry was a joy. He was smart, funny mischievous and we had so many wonderful adventures together, particularly after he’d moved home following fifteen months living in hospitals.”

“His tumor and surgery left him with significant physical disabilities, but he quickly learned sign language and developed his own method of getting from A to B shuffling on his beautiful little bum. His drive to live and to love and to connect was profound.”

In addition to thanking the nurses who helped to treat Henry, he also said that his wife and children’s support have helped him get through this trying time in the following statement:

“They are why I will endeavor not to go mad with grief. I don’t want to miss out on their beautiful lives. I’m greedy for more experiences with them.”

Delaney, the star of Amazon’s Catastrophe and a resident of the United Kingdom, urged people to donate to charities that help sick children, such as Rainbow Trust or Noah’s Ark. A video connected to the organization can be watched below.

What was Henry Delaney’s official cause of death?

At this time, it is believed that Henry’s passing was connected to his brain cancer. As mentioned, while Henry did have treatment to remove the cancerous tumor, it had returned within the following months.

Police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old Durham University student who died after she was crushed under a fence that was reportedly pushed over by crowds trying to get into a Durham nightclub.

According to witnesses, the unidentified woman, 20, became trapped under the barrier which had toppled over as partygoers tried to barge there way into the Missoula nightclub. BBC reports that a Durham Police spokeswoman said: “The circumstances surrounding her death are unclear at this time.” Multiple witnesses spoke to The Tab to describe the incident.

The Missoula nightclub declined to comment, citing the ongoing police investigation. Phoenix Security, which runs security for the venue, also declined to comment.

via BBC:

A witness told the Northern Echo the barrier fell as people were moving in a queue to get in the bar. The venue holds what it claims to be Durham’s biggest student night on Wednesdays.

It is in the popular Walkergate area in the city centre, where there are a host of bars and restaurants. The North East Ambulance Service said it was called at about 23:50 GMT to reports of someone having suffered a “serious head injury”.

A spokeswoman said resuscitation attempts were made but “sadly the patient died at the scene”. Owen Adams, the university’s pro vice-chancellor of colleges and student experience, said support was being offered to students and staff.

Owen Adams, the university’s pro vice-chancellor of colleges and student experience said “We are extremely shocked and saddened by the death of a Durham University student.” Support is being offered to students and staff by the university.

Lawrence S. Bacow

Harvard University has announced that Lawrence S. Bacow, J.D.-M.P.P., Ph.D., will serve as the school’s 29th president.

Elected by the Corporation, Harvard’s senior governing board, with the consent of the Board of Overseers, Bacow’s resume includes serving as president emeritus of Tufts University, chancellor emeritus of MIT, and a member of the Harvard Corporation ever since 2011.

The election comes out 11 years to the day since the 2007 election that gave the job to Drew Gilpin Faust, Harvard’s first woman leader. Faust has previously announced her decision to step down towards the end of the academic year, with the search to find her replacement ongoing since last June.

The announcement was made at a meeting in the Thompson Room of Barker Center starting at3:15.

What is being said about the news?

According to Harvard Magazine, William F. Lee, a senior fellow of the Corporation, released the following statement:

“Larry Bacow is one of the most accomplished, admired, insightful, and effective leaders in American higher education. This is a pivotal moment for higher education—one full of extraordinary possibilities to pursue new knowledge, enhance education, and serve society, but also a time when the singular value of higher education and university research has too often been challenged and called into doubt. Such a time calls for skillful leadership, strategic thinking, and disciplined execution. Larry will provide just that.”

“He will bring to the task not only wide experience, deep expertise, and an intimate familiarity with Harvard’s opportunities and challenges, but also a passionate commitment to helping universities, and everyone within them, serve the larger world. He is ideally positioned to hit the ground running and keep Harvard moving ambitiously forward.”

For his part, Bacow gave the following response thanking the school for appointing him to the new position:

“I am humbled and honored by the opportunity to lead this remarkable institution—and to succeed Drew Faust, whom I have been privileged to count as a friend and an inspiration since we met over a decade ago.”

“The Harvard I have known has always stood for at least three things: the pursuit of truth, an unwavering commitment to excellence, and opportunity. In a nation divided, these guiding ideals have never been more important. We should never shy away from nor be apologetic about affirming our commitment to making the world a better place through our teaching and scholarship and our commitment to truth, excellence, and opportunity for all. And we should always recognize that, for all of our progress toward realizing these ideals over decades and centuries, there is much more we can learn, more we can contribute, more we can do better.”

Frank Reich Net Worth 2018: How Much Is Colts Head Coach Worth

Frank Reich

YouTube/Philadelphia Eagles

After helping the Philadelphia Eagles win their first Super Bowl game in franchise history, offensive coordinator Frank Reich rose to the position of head coach for one of the teams that gave him a big break in the field of coaching. Facing a lot of hard work and even quite a few dismissals, Reich’s story goes to show what a difference a day makes.

Let’s take a look at his career, starting with his net worth!

Frank Reich’s Net Worth: $8 Million

Frank Reich’s current net worth is an estimated $8 million. Let’s take a look at his career to see how he rose to this position.

The Early Years

Like a lot of professional coaches, Reich started on the other side of the field, on the field. Born in Freeport, New York, Reich played baseball, football, and basketball while attending Cedar Crest High School in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. He was later accepted to the University of Maryland on an athletic scholarship, playing for the Maryland Terrapins football team.

1985-1998

To start his professional career, Reich was drafted by the Buffalo Bills for the 1985 NFL Draft. In the final game of the 1992 regular season, with Reich serving as the backup for Jim Kelly at the time, Reich was required to finish a game against the Houston Oilers when Kelly endured strained ligaments in his knee; during a rematch game, Reich led the Bills to the largest comeback in NFL history. During the 1995 NFL season, Reich joined the Carolina Panthers due to the year’s expansion draft. In 1996, he then signed on to the New York Jets and the Detroit Lions in 1997, retiring after the 1998 NFL season.

2008-Present

Reich started a coaching career in 2008, as an offensive assistant and quarterbacks coach for the Indianapolis Colts. The following year, he rose to the position of quarterbacks coach, upon the retirement of Tony Dungy and Jim Caldwell’s rise to his position, and becoming the wide receivers coach in 2011. Upon being dismissed from the position, he became the wide receivers coach for the Arizona Cardinals in 2012. He later worked for the San Diego Chargers in 2013, rising to the position of offensive coordinator. In early 2016, he was hired as an offensive coordinator with the Philadelphia Eagles. Shortly after the Eagles won their first Super Bowl in franchise history, he was eventually hired as the head coach of the team that gave him his first coaching job, the Indianapolis Colts.

According to ESPN, Colts owner & CEO Jim Irsay gave the following statement:

“We are extremely excited to announce Frank Reich as head coach of the Indianapolis Colts. Frank has all the ingredients of a successful head coach: intelligence, innovation, character, organizational and leadership skills, and a commanding presence. He also has a stellar reputation, and his myriad of life experiences and the people he has worked with make him the perfect fit for us and our fans. I feel extremely fortunate and could not be more excited for Colts Nation and the future of our franchise.”

Sigma Alpha Mu Fraternity At Ohio State Suspended Indefinitely

Sigma Alpha Mu at Ohio State University has been suspended.

While the university allowed Sigma Alpha Mu to resume recruitment this year, the national headquarters found the fraternity’s behavior so reprehensible that they decided to suspend the fraternity again.

The chapter has been suspended from the school for the second time in less than five years, after just one full year back on campus since its first suspension in 2013.

The fraternity’s national headquarters suspended the frat due to violations of the fraternity’s hazing and alcohol policies. The decision to close the fraternity is the result of an internal investigation into the chapter conducted by its national headquarters.

via The Lantern:

“The Sigma Alpha Mu International Fraternity has suspended the charter at the Sigma Beta Chapter at The Ohio State University (OSU), effective immediately,” said Andy Huston, the fraternity’s executive director, in the email.

It is unclear whether the members of SAM will have to move out of their fraternity house on Iuka Avenue. It also is unclear how long the suspension will be.

“Our top priority is to create a healthy and safe environment for our members and to foster a culture of responsibility in our chapters,” the email read. “We simply will not tolerate such violations of policies, expectations and values.”

SAM, commonly known as “Sammy,” was approved by Ohio State to conduct recruitment and new member activities Spring Semester, but was not yet approved for social events, according to the website set up by the Office of Student Life in an effort to become more transparent following the suspension of all 37 IFC chapters at the end of the past semester.

Sigma Alpha Mu’s suspension comes at a tumultuous time for Ohio State Greek Life as they try to implement widespread reform.

This is the latest fraternity suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities.

Hong Kong Bus Crash: Full Story & Must-See Details

A double-decker bus crash happening Saturday in the Tai Po area of Hong Kong has claimed the lives of 17 men and 2 women, with dozens of injured survivors.

Many early reports of the incident claimed only 18 people were killed in the crash; later accounts increased the number to 19. According to The New York Times, the crash is believed to be one of the deadliest Hong Kong has even seen since 2003, in which 21 people were killed after another double-decker bus broke through a guardrail, knocking it off the road. A sum payment of HK$80,000 ($10,230) will be given to the families of victims.

Images of the scene showed the passenger bus lying on its side, with the top of the bus appearing to have been ripped off.

The bus crashed near the site of a large horse racecourse; special arrangements have been made in order to accommodate heavy traffic.

UPDATE: The number of those injured in the crash was later given as being more than 60, according to Channel News Asia. Of the inured, ten were said to be in critical condition and another 20 were seriously wounded. Most of the dead and injured had been on the upper deck of the bus.

The driver was suspected to be over the speed limit as we went down a slope, which could have caused him to lose control of the vehicle. After the crash, he was not in need of medical treatment and was found to be sober.

Reportedly, passengers on the bus have said that it was going too fast before the fatal crash. According to Sky News, one injured passenger later gave the following account:

“It was much faster than I normally felt in a bus and then it was like the tyre slipped, and the bus turned. It was really chaotic in the bus. People fell on one another and got tossed from side to side.”

Where Will The Best Remaining MLB Free Agents Sign?

0

Shutterstock

This MLB offseason has not been the most eventful as compared to years past, but there were still quite a few notable signings over this winter in the baseball world. With notable players joining new clubs such as Lorenzo Cain (Brewers), Todd Frazier (Mets), Jay Bruce (Mets, second time), Yonder Alonso (Indians), Yu Darvish (Cubs), and massive trades such as the Marlins sending Giancarlo Stanton to the Yankees and the Rays sending Evan Longoria to the Giants, we have definitely seen the baseball landscape change quite a bit this offseason. Even with these players being traded or signing with new teams, there are still quite a few valuable baseball players left on the free agent market. In this article, I will take a look at the top remaining free agents and where there is a good possibility that they will end up come opening day.

1. Eduardo Nunez

Instagram Photo

Eduardo Nunez split time last year between the Giants and the Red Sox. In 2017 Nunez finished with a line of 12 Home Runs, 58 Runs BAtted In, .313 Average in just 114 games last season. Nunez is a very valuable player for any team to have, he can play numerous positions in the infield and outfield, he’s one of the best base stealers in the game (had 42 stolen bases in 2017), and has hit for a high average since becoming an everyday starter with the Twins in 2016. There have been numerous teams interested in Nunez such as the Yankees, Rays, and Braves. Although all these teams could use a third baseman (which is where Nunez will most likely spend most of his time in the field), Tampa just traded their all-star third baseman (as I mentioned before) to the Giants. With Tampa needing to fill the hole now at third and also being currently quite weak at second base (another position which Eduardo can play), look for the Rays to sign Nunez before Spring Traning begins because of his versatility and the need to add another solid bat to what is right now a fairly weak lineup.

Probable Destination: Tampa Bay Rays

2. Jake Arietta

Instagram Photo

Jake Arietta had spent his last four seasons with the Chicago Cubs, being one of the main components in helping them go from last place in 2014 to world champions in 2016. In his time in Chicago besides helping the Cubs capture their first championship since 1908, he also won the 2015 NL Cy Young award. In 2015 Arietta posted a phenomenal pitching line of 22 wins, 6 losses, a superb 1.77 ERA, and 236 strikeouts. With Chicago giving Yu Darvish a massive contract to replace Arietta in their rotation, Jake will be heading elsewhere for the 2018 season. Teams such as the Dodgers and Rangers are regarded as possible landing spots for the former Cy Young award winner, but I am going to go another route. A team I can see possibly signing Arietta is Colorado, the Rockies have one of the best lineups in baseball, and to go along with some nice young pitchers, they reached the NL wild-card game last season. Arietta would be a great addition to help some of these young studs in the Rockies rotation, providing some of the young players with veteran leadership. Also, last season once Colorado reached the wild card game, they did not have a Pitcher nearly as good or with the same experience as Arizona’s Zack Grenkie, and in a one-game playoff, if you’re on the weaker end of the starting pitching line, you are in big trouble. If this situation were to happen again, but this time Colorado would be able to throw Arietta out there (a proven veteran ace) in a one-game playoff instead of a young pitcher, the Rockies chances of advancing to their first MLB playoff series since 2009 would increase dramatically.

Probable Destination: Colorado Rockies

3. Mike Moustakas

Instagram Photo

Mike Moustakas had an incredible season in his contract year in 2017 and was a major piece on the 2015 World Champion Royals roster. Last season Moustakas his a walloping 38 home runs, to go along with 85 Runs Batted In and a .272 Average. With Mike’s wide display of power last season, he has shown the baseball world that he could possibly be the power iter that teams can rely on to hit them a bomb when needed. With the exodus of players from Kansas City this offseason and the Royals going into full rebuild mode, Mike definitely won’t be sporting the Royal Blue come spring. It looked like early on that Mike was going to sign with a contending team that was looking for an extra bat, such as the Yankees, Mets, and Giants, but with those teams finding offense elsewhere, we will probably not see Moustakas in the Bay or in the Big Apple in 2018. A team I can possibly see him going to is the Atlanta Braves a primarily young team that started to make the climb out of the NL cellar last season. Mike could provide Atlanta with some much-needed offense (and some protection in the lineup behind Freddie Freeman), he can fill third base which is a currently a position the Braves are weak in, and he would be a good veteran with experience to have around the young players on Atlanta.

Probable Destination: Atlanta Braves

4. Eric Hosmer

Instagram Photo

Eric Hosmer, one of the premier first basemen in the MLB currently, is another star player that is leaving Kansas City this winter. Hosmer was one of the main pieces on the 2015 Champion Royals and has been a key component in their lineup since 2011. Last season, Hosmer hit 25 Home Runs, drove in 94 runners, had an average of .318 to go along with close to 200 hits. Hosmer has shown that he is one of the best all-around first basemen in baseball, by being able to hit for power, average, play great defensively, and even steal a base once in a while. While it is rumored that Hosmer could possibly return to Kansas City, or sign with rebuilding team such as the Padres, I believe there is a good chance the man ends up in Boston. The Red Sox have to do SOMETHING considering the upgrades the rival Yankees made to their roster this winter, and Hosmer could be just that. With it looking less and less likely that super-star caliber player J.D. Martinez is going to sign in Boston, The Red Sox should sign Hosmer to show the Yankees that they won’t just stand pat while the Yanks hit bomb after bomb with Stanton and Judge this coming season. If Boston signs Hosmer, they can move Mitch Moreland to DH and try to get rid of the aging Hanley Ramirez, who is clearly not what he once was even as recently as two seasons ago.

Probable Destination: Boston Red Sox

5. J.D. Martinez

Instagram Photo

J.D. Martinez has quietly become one of the best players in baseball over the last few seasons (when he is healthy). J.D. has been one of baseball’s best-kept secrets over the last few season’s because he played for a lackluster Detroit team. Last season at the trade deadline, Martinez was finally dealt out of Detroit and sent to a playoff contending Arizona, where he helped the D-Backs reach the NLDS. In 2017 in a season split between Detroit and Arizona, Martinez hit a walloping 45 home runs (third in baseball) to go along with 104 runs batted in and a .303 batting average. The numbers Martinez posted in 2017 are nothing short of MVP-esque, and where ever he ends up signing, I’m sure his contract will show the world that J.D. is, in fact, a super-star caliber player. Obviously, the place everyone thought he was going to sign was Boston, but it is seeming less and less likely that J.D. will go to Boston as the days go by. Somewhere I can see Martinez ending up this offseason is in Seattle, as we have seen the M’s are do not shy away from handing out huge contracts (example: Robinson Cano’s contract), and they are still searching for that one player to get them over the hump, and send them to their first playoff appearance since 2001. Not only will the Mariners signing be quite possible the biggest signing of this baseball winter, but it should all but solidify Seattle’s return to playoff baseball for the first time in over 15 years.

Probable Destination: Seattle Mariners

Despite not officially participating in the Winter Olympics, Russia and their athletes sure have made a lot of headlines, especially one member of their curling team: the gorgeous Anastasia Bryzgalova.

Bryzgalova, 25, has set Twitter on fire with her stunning good looks and soul-piercing eyes. While Russia itself is not actually participating in the games, we sure are glad that AnastasiaBryzgalova is.

via Daily Mail:

Russian curler Anastasia Bryzgalova, 25, has set pulses racing among viewers who are glued to proceedings in Pyeongchang who have been impressed not only by her prowess on the ice but her piercing stare, which makes her look like ‘she can burn holes in the sheet with her eyes’.

The athlete married her curling partner Alexander Krushelnitskiy in June 2017 and the couple enjoyed a sun soaked honeymoon in Spain. The pair won the 2016 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship in Karlstad, Sweden.

Anastasia took up the sport in 2009 after being attracted by an advertisement for a curling club at an ice sports complex and has a master’s degree from the Lesgaft National State University of Physical Education, Sport and Health.

As everyone knows, Russia is not officially competing in the Winter Olympic Games due to the fallout from the nation’s state-sponsored doping scandal. However, 168 clean athletes are taking part wearing neutral colors as “Olympic Athletes from Russia.”

Johnny Manziel Says He’s Been Diagnosed With Bipolar Disorder

Johnny Manziel has been making the media rounds recently, which means one thing and one thing only: Comeback Szn is officially underway.

Appearing on the football podcast “Pardon My Take” and the daytime talk show “Good Morning America”, Manziel appears to be in FULL public image recuperation mode, saying and doing all the right things (it also helps that he doesn’t look like a drug addict anymore).

While the PMT interview was far more in-depth, the “Good Morning America” interview had the biggest bombshell of Manziel’s media tour, as he revealed he was recently diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had been self-medicating with alcohol.

Manziel now claims to be completely sober, no longer using alcohol as “self-medication.”

via ABC:

“I was self-medicating with alcohol. That’s what I thought would make me happy and get out of that depression,” Manziel said. “When I would wake up the next day after a night like that, going on a trip like that, and you wake up the next day and that is all gone, that liquid courage, or that liquid … sense of euphoria that is over you, is all gone You are left staring at the ceiling by yourself, and in that depression and back in that hole, that dark hole of sitting in a room by yourself, super depressed, thinking about all the mistakes you made in your life,” he added. “What did that get me? Where did that get me except out of the NFL? Where did that get me? Disgraced?”

Manziel said he has also started to make his mental health “a priority in my life,” adding that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder about a year ago.

“I am taking medication for bipolar, and I am working to try to make sure I don’t fall back into any type of depression, because I know where that leads me and I know how slippery a slope that is for me,” he said.

To his credit, Manziel actually seems quite contrite. As someone who is the same age as Johnny, let me tell you this: the difference in maturity from age 22 to age 25 is like night and day. Back when I was 22, I was drinking four nights a week, no questions asked. Now that I’m 25, I go out one a week maximum. While that’s no excuse for Johnny’s past mistakes, it should offer hope going forward that he actually has grown up and can finally fulfill the potential we all know he has.

College Basketball Power Rankings 2018: Week 15 Rankings

SAN JOSE, CA – MARCH 23: Malcolm Bernard #11 of the Xavier Musketeers is defended by Kadeem Allen #5 of the Arizona Wildcats during the 2017 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament West Regional at SAP Center on March 23, 2017 in San Jose, California. (Photo by Ezra Shaw/Getty Images)

If you love and covet chaos this was the week for you. All of the programs ranked in the top three (Villanova, Virginia, Purdue) lost at least once this past week. On top of that, all of the ranked Big 12 programs (with the exception of Texas Tech) also lost at least one game to inferior opponents last week (Kansas, West Virginia, Oklahoma). Even more surprising than any of the aforementioned upsets is the Kentucky Wildcats continuing struggles within the SEC Conference. Losing contests to both Tennessee and Texas A&M last week, the Wildcats seem to still be struggling with an identity crisis on both offense and defense, deficiencies that will continue to hinder them unless coach John Calipari can rally his young troops together and find a way to galvanize his team lest they face an early exit in the NCAA Tournament.

1. Michigan State Spartans

Winning a defensive grudge match against Purdue over the weekend, the Spartans quickly reclaimed the top spot in the rankings…at least for this week. Considering they have not played or beaten a ranked team since Notre Dame early in the season, it’s hard to completely trust the Spartans when it comes to them remaining the best program in the country for an extended period of time.

2. Xavier Musketeers

Although the careless and lackadaisical defense of Xavier will inevitably catch up with them (74 PAPG), the Musketeers have thus far been able to win one shootout after another. At the very least, the Musketeers electric offense is highly entertaining to watch and is certainly capable of taking them far in the NCAA Tournament if they find themselves on a hot streak.

3. Virginia Cavaliers

Although the Cavaliers home loss to Virginia Tech should not condemn this team as being considered overrated, their ineptitude on offense has appeared to have finally caught up with them. While their disciplined defense and capabilities when it comes to controlling the pace of play are highly impressive, they need to be more than anemic offensively if they hope to avoid disaster come March Madness.

4. Texas Tech Red Raiders

The only program in the Big 12 that can play exceptional defense consistently (62 PAPG), the Red Raiders are beginning to separate themselves from the pack in a conference that is rife with parity. By the end of the season, we could very well be looking at the Red Raiders as the outright winners of the Big 12 rather than the Kansas Jayhawks who have dominated the conference for years.

5. Cincinnati Bearcats

Crushing practically every opponent they have encountered this season, the Bearcats may be a team that could supersede Virginia as a dominant defensive team that can actually score enough points to win consistently. If the Bearcats can overcome both Houston and Wichita State in their next two games, they will have dominated their conference while forcing themselves into the conversation as being a legitimate National Title contender.

6. Ohio State Buckeyes

With a highly impressive win over Purdue on the road last week, the Buckeyes emphatically took over the top spot in the Big 10 Conference standings. If their offense can be a bit more productive on a consistent basis, the Buckeyes could feasibly become a trendy pick to make it to the Final Four in the NCAA Tournament.

7. Clemson Tigers

While the loss of Donte Grantham to a season-ending injury a few weeks ago appeared to be the end of Clemson’s inspirational success story, the Tigers have actually improved offensively and have rediscovered their capabilities as a strong defensive team. They may not always win pretty, but the Tigers have an established identity and are utilizing it effectively against their respective opponents.

8. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Beating Saint Mary’s on Saturday by a fairly large margin, the Bulldogs asserted themselves as the best team in the West Coast Conference. Although we will not know just how competitive the Bulldogs actually are until March Madness commences, this program is elite enough on offense to be an intimidating force regardless of who their opponent happens to be.

9. Auburn Tigers

Losing to a Texas A&M program that appears to be on the rise, the SEC Conference-leading Tigers still have a lot to be proud of this year despite their brief lapse. With a prolific offense that continues to strike fear in the hearts of opposing defenses (85.5 PPG), the Tigers should quickly put their most recent loss in the rearview mirror and continue to shun the doubters as they have this entire season.

10. Tennessee Volunteers

Although a blowout loss to Alabama over the weekend was not ideal, the unexpected loss appears to be an anomaly rather than a sign of things to come. With a defense and offense that has improved impressively throughout this season, the Volunteers should still be considered a reputable program with high aspirations when it comes to making noise in the NCAA Tournament.

11. Kansas Jayhawks

Terrific as an offensive unit (81.7 PPG), the Jayhawks are being held back by a defense that simply refuses to output any type of effort when attempting to guard their opponents in transition. As we have seen with most programs in the Big 12, a prolific offense without a decent defense is a recipe for disaster both in conference play and, ultimately, in the postseason play as well.

12. Purdue Boilermakers

After looking like one of the most dynamically dominant programs in college basketball throughout the season, the Boilermakers looked completely inept in both of their losses to Ohio State and Michigan State last week. While the Boilermakers should not be considered as a program that is trending downward, they need to iron out the kinks of an offense that as progressively struggled to score consistently.

13. Duke Blue Devils

There are two factors that are holding the Blue Devils back from being truly great: careless turnovers and an inconsistent defense. Although the Blue Devils have the roster and the coaching to make a run at a National Title, they need to be more tenacious when it comes to preventing their opponents from garnering second-chance opportunities off of the defensive glass.

14. Rhode Island Rams

As long as Rhode Island can keep winning while the teams above them continue to lose, the Rams meteoric rise will continue in earnest. As their offense continues to improve (have scored 80 points or more in three of their last four games), the Rams could feasibly become a well-rounded program that can come out nowhere and go far in the NCAA Tournament.

15. West Virginia Mountaineers

With a tight win over Oklahoma, the Mountaineers were able to avoid a complete free fall as they lost to Oklahoma State in a shootout on Saturday. Like most teams in the Big 12, the Mountaineers are being victimized by a very deep and competitive conference with every program seemingly fearless when it comes to taking on the notable teams of their conference.

16. North Carolina Tar Heels

Winners of three games in a row, the Tar Heels offense has been rolling nicely and was especially prolific in an impressive win over a talent-laden Duke program last week. While their struggles on defense continue to be a concern, the Tar Heels are at least getting production out of their other players that are not named Joel Berry II or Luke Maye.

17. Saint Mary’s Gaels

While the loss to Gonzaga on Saturday was somewhat devastating for a Saint Mary’s program that had high hopes of winning the West Coast Conference outright, the Gaels still have to feel great about their roster from a competitive standpoint. Stingy defensively (64.6 PAPG) and unselfish offensively (16.8 APG), the Gaels will arguably be one of the most overlooked teams with a great roster come March Madness.

18. Wichita State Shockers

At 19-5, it’s fair to say that the Shockers are struggling more than they thought they would in their first year in the American Athletic Conference. However, the Shockers do boast one of the most efficient offenses in the country (83.8 PPG, 19.2 APG), an aspect that could take them far in the postseason if their defense can be a bit more consistent (69.6 PAPG).

19. Arizona Wildcats

With Arizona’s inept defense costing them games recently, this program needs to look at other teams such as Oklahoma and Arizona State to realize that being atrocious defensively is a slippery slope. Minimally, the Wildcats needs to improve their tenacity when it comes to rebounding the basketball if they hope to provide their prolific offense with the opportunities they need to be consistently successful (35.8 RPG).

20. Houston Cougars

Considering how dominant the Cougars are defensively when they win (have given up 70 points or more just once in their last seven wins), you would think that this program has what it takes to go far in the NCAA Tournament. However, the Cougars offense needs to come from someone other than Rob Gray (17.7 PPG) if this program hopes to overcome some of the more disciplined and cerebral teams in the postseason.

21. Michigan Wolverines

Defensively, the Wolverines have the discipline and physicality needed to stifle any offense in college basketball. However, when it comes to rebounding (33.1 RPG) and scoring (74 PPG) the Wolverines are less than impressive and are frankly a tier below the top teams in the Big 10 in terms of being competitively dynamic. A contest against hated rival Ohio State next week will be crucial in gauging the Wolverines viability as a giant killer come March Madness.

22. Texas A&M Aggies

Without question, it has been a tumultuous season for Texas A&M, to say the least. However, the resilient Aggies have returned to their former dominant ways offensively (have scored 80 points or more in their last four games). With their last two wins coming over Tennessee and Kentucky (both ranked programs), the Aggies are futility but valiantly attempting to at least make a run at challenging the top dogs of the SEC for a conference title.

23. New Mexico State Aggies

While the WAC Conference may pale in comparison to most conferences in college basketball, the Aggies have taken full advantage of their relatively easy schedule. Thanks to their dominant defense (61.7 PAPG) and their aggressiveness when playing the glass (41.2 RPG), the Aggies are an intriguing program that simply needs a decent offense for them to be considered a dark horse contender come March Madness (74.5 PPG)

24. Miami Hurricanes

Although the Hurricanes lapses defensively are a bit concerning (have allowed 70 points or more in their last three games), their offense has actually been much more tenacious and productive as of late (have scored 70 points or more in four of their last five games). They may be inconsistent, but it’s hard to argue with the concerted effort this program brings to the basketball court day in and day out.

25. Oklahoma Sooners

Similar to the Arizona State Sun Devils, the Sooners are now facing the tough realization that their prolific albeit predictable style of basketball is no longer an advantage. Currently, the Sooners are victims of being overly reliant on superstar Trae Young to produce consistently while their defense is still relinquishing a high number of points on a consistent basis.

Daryle Singletary Cause of Death: How Did Country Singer Die?

Daryle Bruce Singletary, an American country music singer, has passed away at the age of 46-years-old. Singletary had just played his first concert of 2018 on Friday, February 9 at The Rodeo Club in Alabama.

His cause of death is unknown at this time.

From 1995 to 1998, Singletary recorded professionally for Giant Records, releasing three studio albums: “Daryle Singletary” in 1995, “All Because of You” in 1996 and “Ain’t It the Truth” in 1998.

During the late 1990’s, Singletary entered the top 40 of the Hot Country Songs charts five times, reaching number two with “I Let Her Lie” and “Amen Kind of Love”, and number four with “Too Much Fun”.

via Rolling Stone:

Born in Cairo, Georgia, Singletary, whose father was a postmaster and mother a hairdresser, performed gospel music in his youth alongside his brother and cousins. Relocating to Nashville in 1990, Singletary played local clubs and signed a deal with independent Evergreen Records in 1992, issuing a pair of singles. Members of Randy Travis’ band heard the singer and, at their urging, Travis would soon align himself with Singletary, co-producing his debut LP for Giant Records in 1995. The album generated his first hits, “I’m Living Up to Her Low Expectations,” followed by the Number Two single “I Let Her Lie,” and a second Top Five tune, “Too Much Fun.” A year later, he released his best-charting hit, “Amen Kind of Love.” In 2002, he recorded what would be his last Top 30 hit, “The Note,” delivering a chilling cover of a song previously cut by Conway Twitty, as well as Tammy Wynette.

Daryle Singletary Cause of Death: Unknown at this time

Singletary, 46, died of unknown causes on Monday, February 12. He died at his home in Nashville. The cause of death is not immediately known, but it was unexpected.

About Daryle Singletary

Daryle Singletary was born March 10, 1971 in Cairo, Georgia.

Singletary began singing gospel music with his cousins and brother, and in high school, began taking vocal classes as well. In the early 1990s, Singletary moved to Nashville, Tennessee in pursuit of a record deal.

Singletary recorded seven studio albums, with his latest, “There’s Still a Little Country Left”, being released in 2015.

All Of The Best Valentine’s Day Sales & Deals

Valentine’s Day is many things to different people but we can all agree on one thing! If you are lucky enough to be spending the day with that special someone in your life, it is going to cost you! Fortunately, many places are getting into the season of love with deals and coupons to help you out. Remember, if your special someone doesn’t appreciate the value of a discount, then they are probably not the one as it is. Better yet, some places out there decided to “throw the bone,” as it were, by giving deals to lonely people without a date this year.

What are some of the Top 10 deals and promotions you can get on Valentine’s Day?

Auntie Anne’s

Auntie Anne’s will offer a two-for-one deal with a “heart-shaped” pretzel on Valentine’s Day, provided that you download the My Pretzel Perks app before the clock strikes noon EST on Feb. 13! Sure, pretzels are traditionally “heart-shaped” by nature, but we must not question free pretzels!

Baskin Robbins

The age-old image of lovers sharing an ice cream sundae together has endured the ages since ice cream is just so delicious, but I think we can do better than just a sundae! Baskin Robbins is offering online coupons this year that will let you get $3 off any ice cream cake and $2 off any polar pizza!

Bravo Cucina

Bravo Cucina is offering up a special menu just for the holiday, including shrimp and lobster campanelle, grilled salmon piccata, crab crusted beef medallions and chocolate cheesecake! The best part is that this menu will last until the 18th, so you have a few extra days to save up for your date (or if you want to wait to celebrate this year, given the Valentine’s Day is also Ash Wednesday this year!)

Buca di Beppo

Honestly, Lady & the Tramp must have solidified the image of Italian food being the staple of Western dates, so we must not question it. Buca di Beppo is offering a “Valentine’s Classic Love Package,” that will feed up to three people, so dateless third-wheels are advised! Did I mention the heart-shaped lasagna? Because there is heart-shaped lasagna!

Halo Top

Halo Top is giving away free pints of their low-calorie ice cream for Valentine’s Day! Unfortunately, you need to be a resident of New York City, San Francisco or Los Angeles. Still, if you know someone who lives in those areas, then I’m sure they’ll hold it for you! As much as we all love vanilla ice cream, there’s a slight catch. According to Delish, the two free flavors are Red Velvet and Strawberry and you must purchase it using Postmates Fresh, with a possible service fee.

Hooters

Just to be clear, you probably shouldn’t take your date to Hooter’s, unless, of course, they ask first, but for once, this isn’t about people like you! Not everything is about you! This is for all the lonely hearts out there! With the “Shred ’em and Forget ’em” promotion, you just need to upload a photo of your ex, rip it up and you get 10 free boneless wings!

Golden Corral

It’s already a buffet, do I really need to say more? For the holiday, a special menu will offer carved salmon, grilled shrimp skewers, butterfly shrimp and prime rib! That said, prices vary by location!

Ruby Tuesday

Ruby Tuesday is celebrating Valentine’s Day by offering its “Love at First Bite” special, complete with new drinks! Just a reminder, you get the Endless Garden Bar, but can get a side instead for an extra charge. That’s right, you pay less if you want to eat more!

Ticketmaster

When your date says you can take her out to dinner, more often than not, “dinner and a show” is implied. Well, this has you covered! The “Valentine’s 2 For 1 Tickets Offer” is said to be good for 187 shows! It ends on February 16, 2018.

TCBY

Frozen yogurt is basically the ice cream of the new millennium and TCBY is offering a two-for-one special (well, two-for-one-and-a-half) for Valentine’s Day! People go out for “fro-yo” all the time, so you might as well enjoy getting a deal while you still can!

We hope you have a happy (and cost-effective) Valentine’s Day!

As we edge ever closer to conference tournament play and, ultimately, NCAA Tournament contests, programs that are currently on the outside looking in will look to play their best basketball down the stretch of the regular season. Although it’s easy and even somewhat justifiable to remain unwaveringly focused on the ranked teams in college basketball, there is always at least one program that goes from being relatively unknown to becoming a beloved Cinderella story come March Madness. Considering all of the upsets and close affairs that were on full display last week, there is certainly a multitude of unranked teams that have the potential to go far in the single-elimination tournament that sports fans crave and anticipate anxiously every year.
