Three people have reportedly been injured in an explosion near Phoenix Airport. One of the injuries is serious.

According to reports, Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport officials say there has been a natural gas explosion on airport grounds.

Police said that those injured were private contractors working with the natural gas and that the explosion has not impacted any airport terminals or flight operations.

ABC reports that some people nearby reported hearing a “loud boom” in the area and felt the percussions.

Phoenix–Mesa Gateway Airport is in the southeastern area of Mesa, Arizona, and 20 miles southeast of Phoenix, in Maricopa County, Arizona. The airport is owned and operated by the Phoenix–Mesa Gateway Airport Authority, and is a reliever airport for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. It is a base for Allegiant Air.

The airport authority is governed by a six-member board: the mayors and tribal governor of the town of Gilbert, city of Mesa, town of Queen Creek, Gila River Indian Community, city of Phoenix, and the city of Apache Junction.

According to officials, shots are being fired as police respond to a barricaded subject on the second floor of Tony Sudekum Apartments, a public housing complex in Nashville, Tennesee, with at least one Metro Police officer shot and currently being hospitalized.

The initial shooting was first reported 7 AM. The buildings have been evacuated with area schools on a lockout, including Johnson Alternative Learning Center, Cameron College Prep and Napier Elementary. Despite the lockout, classes are said to be continuing as normal.

One family is said to be sheltering in place as police said their building was unsafe to evacuate. The Nashville Public Library will host those evacuated.

According to WSMV, one mother has said that her children were  “holed up for hours inside their apartment before police were able to get them out safely;” she added that they have become “desensitized to the sound of gunfire around their building because it happens so often.”

What happened?

At this time, it is believed that at least 20 patrol cars initially responded to the apartment complex shooting.

According to The Tennessean, police spokesman Don Aaron said that, according to a preliminary investigation, the shooter was firing shots into the ground outside an apartment near a woman and a child, before he went into an apartment and locked himself inside.

One shoulder was struck by a bullet in his shoulder, but it is believed to be non-penetrative. Aaron later confirmed:

“The bullet did not enter his body.”

The officer is currently being treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. At this time, people are being asked to avoid the area.

UPDATE: According to Fox 17, the gunman has been identified as Justin Jones. The officer shot was also identified as Gerry Hutcheson.

With the NFL offseason officially upon us, pundits and fans alike will attempt to eagerly anticipate the crucial moves of the sports finest and not especially notable franchises. Although there are a plethora of elite free agents that will be available on the open market to offer their coveted services, there is an equal number of underrated players that have the potential to be great within the proper organizations. While it may be difficult to discern the difference between the underrated and overrated athletes at times, all of the relatively unknown players have one very essential trait in common: they have persevered either through injuries or limited playing time to display their unique and exciting skill sets. Before looking at the likes of Jimmy Graham and Le’Veon Bell, NFL teams would behoove themselves to look at the following underappreciated athletes first to see if there are any game changers that could be had at a discounted price.

10. Orleans Darkwa, RB

Although Darkwa has been traditionally regarded as a capable backup rusher, he actually had a great year for a New York Giants team that was riddled with injuries to nearly all of their prominent playmakers on offense. Rushing for 751 yards and five touchdowns (both career highs), Darkwa did not shy away from the limelight and was vital in alleviating some of the pressure off of quarterback Eli Manning. If Darkwa can take his game to the next level as a receiver (6.1 yards per reception), he could very well be a solid contributor for a team that is in need of a young and versatile weapon on offense.

9. Josh McCown, QB

At 38 years of age, it would be fair to assume that McCown is most likely on the verge of retirement. However, when you consider that the journeyman quarterback set career highs in passing yards (2,926), touchdowns (18) and completion percentage (67.3%), it appears that the veteran passer may still have a bit more left in the tank. While McCown lacks the natural ability and instincts to be anything more than an average starter, he is the perfect bridge quarterback for any team that is looking to develop their roster before drafting a franchise passer.

8. Ryan Grant, WR

Largely inconsistent throughout his four-year career, Grant stepped up in a big way for the Washington Redskins in 2017. Averaging 12.7 yards per reception (career high) Grant proved to be a capable deep threat for quarterback Kirk Cousins, which was impressive considering the other playmakers that were around him. He may not be the most elite or physically imposing wideout in the game, but his speed and quickness are definitely coveted traits for a team that has a passer that loves to chuck the football deep downfield.

7. LeGarrette Blount, RB

Unsurprisingly, veteran running back LeGarrette Blount regressed to the mean in 2017 after putting up legendary numbers for the New England Patriots two seasons ago. However, Blount was still utilized on a regular basis as a third down battering ram that could penetrate some of the more stout defensive lines in the NFL. Although Blount’s skill set is static and his frame prevents him from being shifty or capable as a receiver in the backfield, his durability and fierceness are worthy of consideration for a team that loves to wear down opposing defenses with an intimidating and physical rushing attack.

6. Crockett Gillmore, TE

Although the three-year tight end has yet to play a full season in the NFL, Crockett Gillmore has the prototypical size and hands of an athletic and reliable playmaker. When healthy, Gillmore is an electric playmaker that is especially deadly in the open field (5.3 yards after the catch in 2015). While he is a high-risk and high-reward player, Gillmore should come at a bargain bin price this offseason, making him an athlete worth taking a chance on for any team that has a serious need at the tight end position.

5. Taylor Gabriel, WR

If he did not play alongside Julio Jones and Mohammed Sanu, Taylor Gabriel would easily be one of the more prolific secondary wideouts in the NFL. While his numbers may appear to be underwhelming at an initial glance, the speedy wideout was allotted just 51 targets in 2017 (82nd amongst receivers). Given the chance to play consistently as a number two receiver, Gabriel could easily become a favorite target for any quarterback that likes to work the football downfield.

4. Terrelle Pryor, WR

Without a doubt, Terrelle Pryor was one of most disappointing players from a statistical perspective in 2017. After garnering over 1,000 receiving yards with the Cleveland Browns in 2016, Pryor took a major step back with the Washington Redskins as he brought in just 240 receiving yards and one touchdown reception. However, the intriguing wideout played in only nine games this past season and was targeted 37 times, suggesting that Pryor was not given the requisite opportunities needed to excel. While some teams may be tentative to give Pryor a chance after his noticeable regression last season, I believe the quarterback turned wide receiver can return to greatness for a team that can fully utilize his impressive athletic abilities.

3. Alfred Morris, RB

Once a perennial 1,000-yard rusher, Alfred Morris has since been relegated to being second to third-string running back in the Dallas Cowboys’ offense. Although the aging Morris will unlikely be able to attain the former glory that he had with the Washington Redskins, he still has the instincts and ability to be a strong third down back. If a team is willing to give Morris close to 200 carries in a season, they could easily reap the benefits of having a versatile rusher that still has plenty left in the tank.

2. Tyler Eifert, TE

One of the most talented tight ends in the NFL, Eifert will undoubtedly come at a discounted price this offseason because of his injury history (played in just 10 games during the last two seasons). However, Eifert’s incredible production when he was healthy still allows him to be considered a coveted and intriguing free agent this offseason. Any team that decides to acquire him will be taking a tremendous risk, but they could also be getting the steal of free agency if the young pass-catcher can stay healthy for most the regular season.

1. Jeremy Hill, RB

Before this past season, Jeremy Hill had missed just one game during the previous three seasons of his career. From 2014-2016, Hill rushed for 29 touchdowns and was a capable albeit underutilized weapon as a receiver in the Cincinnati Bengals’ backfield. Although Hill may lack the name recognition and electric performances of an elite rusher, his overall production, and immense size should allow him to find a home with a team that needs a physical and relentless running back.

It can never be overstated the importance and necessity of having a reliable quarterback that can lead your team to the promised land sooner rather than later. However, as it pertains to these coveted athletes in free agency this year, there are very few signal-callers that are worthy of starting on any NFL teams this year or anytime in the foreseeable future. With that being said, possessing a reliable and efficient backup passer on the roster can often be the difference between maintaining a successful season or abandoning all hope of making it to the playoffs. Considering what the Philadelphia Eagles were able to accomplish with a fringe starter this past season, the following quarterbacks have the potential to step in for their beloved starters to at least inspire some hope that their respective teams can still be competitive in a given season.

10. Ryan Fitzpatrick

A highly intelligent passer that lacks any type of reputable athletic abilities, Ryan Fitzpatrick has been a relatively successful journeyman quarterback during his time in the NFL. With a career completion percentage just below 60%, Fitzpatrick is a serviceable passer that can step into most offenses and quickly learn the respective nuances to give his team a chance to win consistently. While he’s not an electric playmaker, he is a cerebral signal-caller that can come in and do what is asked of him more often than not.

9. Drew Stanton

While Drew Stanton will never be considered a capable starter on any NFL team, the fact that he has only played for two teams during his seven-year career suggests that the unremarkable passer is worth keeping around. Although he does not put up pretty numbers consistently, he has the arm to make plays downfield and possesses decent athleticism, allowing him to be utilized in more ways than one.

8. E.J. Manuel

A first-round pick by the Buffalo Bills in 2013, E.J. Manuel has since been reduced to being a capable backup passer for the Oakland Raiders. However, Manuel is highly athletic and is good enough in the intermediate passing game to step in for an injured starter without being a complete disaster. Like most backups, Manuel is below average from an accuracy perspective, but his impressive athletic abilities give him a slight edge over most backup passers in the NFL.

7. Derek Anderson

Once a starter for the Carolina Panthers, Derek Anderson is an unimpressive passer from a statistical perspective. However, as a veteran of the NFL, Anderson possesses the poise and experience to be a reliable back up that will do what is necessary to keep his team competitive. He may not be particularly consistent with his passing accuracy, but he has a strong arm and can make the requisite plays needed to lead his team to victory fairly consistently.

6. Sam Bradford

If Sam Bradford could simply stay healthy, he would easily be considered one of the top quarterbacks in free agency this year. However, the highly efficient passer has not played a full season since 2012 and only started in two games for the Vikings last season. Still, with a career completion of 62.5%, Bradford is better than some of other starting passers in the NFL.

5. Blaine Gabbert

While Blaine Gabbert never took off as a starting quarterback in the NFL, his safe dink and dunk passing style has allowed him to be a coveted backup throughout his career. Throwing 44 touchdowns to 43 interceptions during his career, Gabbert is about as typical of a backup quarterback as there is in football, which is actually a compliment when you consider the lack of reliable passers currently in the league.

2. Case Keenum

Coming seemingly out of nowhere to lead the Minnesota Vikings to the NFC Championship game, Case Keenum played his best football at the right time to elevate his status from solid backup to a reliable starter. Although it would be unwise for an NFL team to spend heavily on a quarterback that has put up just one prolific season during his five-year career, Keenum’s now established ceiling certainly makes him worthy of getting a chance to start somewhere next season.

1. Drew Brees

No surprise here. Although Drew Brees will undoubtedly re-sign with the New Orleans Saints when all is said and done, at 39 years of age, the veteran passer may not get the lucrative contract that he is expecting. If that is the case, then Brees could and should test the open market to see if there is a team that is a gifted passer away from making a run at a Super Bowl Championship (Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars).

George Washington University in Washington D.C. has kicked the university’s Alpha Phi chapter off campus after a racist Snapchat photo went viral.

On Monday, February 5, GWU’s Student Association Senate unanimously passed a resolution approving Alpha Phi’s removal as well as a host of other new diversity initiatives.

The Snapchat, which went viral, on January 31, showed two Alpha Phi members posing with a banana peel and featured a caption reading ‘I’m 1/16th black’.

University President Thomas LeBlanc said the incident was an “eye opener” for some officials and a reminder that “we’ve got a lot of work to do” to ensure students of color feel included on campus. He said the University plans to implement some form of diversity training by the beginning of next academic year and delve into whether Greek chapters have excluded parts of the student body in their recruitment processes.

In response to demands from the Student Association and GW’s NAACP chapter, LeBlanc said the University aims to implement diversity trainings by next fall, but the details – including when the sessions would be held – had not yet been determined.

The post, which featured two members of Alpha Phi and a racist caption, has sparked a fierce debate about campus inclusion and a lack of diversity in many Greek chapters. Since the post became public last week, GW’s Alpha Phi chapter said it would expel three members involved in the incident and the SA Senate called on the University to implement mandatory diversity training at freshman orientation, start a taskforce to examine discrimination in Greek life and expel GW’s Alpha Phi chapter in a resolution unanimously passed Monday night.

George Washington University Provost Forrest Maltzman said in a statement that the incident was “disturbing, hurtful and not reflective of who I know we are as a community.”

The university’s Alpha Phi chapter said in a statement that they will be terminating the memberships of the photographer and the two students shown in the picture.

The incident is the second racist incident involving Alpha Phi this year. In mid-January, former University of Alabama Alpha Phi sister Harley Barber was expelled from the school after she posted racist videos online. In the videos, Barber repeatedly used the n-word.

Heather Bergsma, 28, born Heather Richardson, is an American speed skater who has competed since 2006. She is a native of North Carolina. She represented the United States at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, where she finished 6th in 500 meters, 9th in the 1000 meters, and 16th in the 1500 meters.

At the 2011 World Single Distance Championships, she won a bronze medal in the 1000 meters. She also came in 8th place in the 500 meters and was part of the team pursuit team that finished in 8th place. On January 26–27, 2013, Bergsma won the gold medal at the 2013 World Sprint Championships. She has since won several world championship medals and garnered her placings at the World Cup.

Bergsma is the current world record holder in the 2 x 500 meters and the 1500 meters, as well as the current American record holder on the 500 meters distance. She also briefly held the 1000 meters world record in November 2015, and the sprint combination world record from 2013 to 2017.

She married Dutch speed skater and marathon skater Jorrit Bergsma in May 2015 and competed as Heather Richardson-Bergsma the following season. 

Heather Bergsma will compete in four events at her third Winter Olympics during the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Yes, you definitely shouldn’t be flipping cars, but 20-25 years ago, if you really, really wanted to flip a car in celebration of your team winning the Super Bowl, you could get away with it without having to worry about catching a charge the following Monday.

This also shows the inexperience of Philly celebrating championships, as any seasoned psychotic fan base would know to conceal their identity before the destruction of major property.

While Philly tore itself apart on Sunday, most of the incidents were on a large, unarrestable scale. However, when you flip a car in the middle of the street and face directly into the camera after doing so, that’s a different story entirely. And unfortunately, 20-year-old John Rigsby learned that the hard way.

Police have arrested a 20-year-old man for damaging a vehicle while celebrating the Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl victory Sunday night.

Philadelphia police say the suspect, identified as John Rigsby of Malvern, Pa., was among a group of seven individuals who flipped a 2017 Nissan Rogue SUV onto its driver’s side door, causing dents and scratches.

The incident was caught on camera around 11 p.m. Sunday on the 1400 block of Walnut Street in Center City. On Tuesday, Rigsby was arrested and charged with Vandalism and related charges.

The kid’s only 20, so he’ll be bounce back eventually, but this will definitely be a difficult one to explain during job interviews. My buddy once set a couch on fire and that shit followed him like the clap.

And let this be a lesson, kids: if you’re going to raise hell, do it off camera.

The Early Years

Josh Brolin (49) was born in Santa Monica, California to Jane Cameron, a wildlife activist, and actor James Brolin. Brolin was raised on a ranch in Templeton, California with little exposure to his father’s acting career though he became interested in acting after taking an improv acting class in high school. His parents divorced when he was 16 years old, and in 1998 his father married his third wife, singer/actress Barbra Streisand.

1985-1996

Brolin started his career in TV films and guest roles on TV shows before getting a more notable role as Brand Walsh in the Richard Donner-directed film The Goonies (1985). He and Johnny Depp were finalists for the role of Tom Hanson in the series 21 Jump Street, but Depp’s a hard man to beat out. The role was ultimately awarded to Captain Jack Sparrow, but he and Brolin became close and remained friends after the brief television competition.

Brolin implied that he turned away from film for years after the premiere of his second film, Thrasin’ (1986), where he said he did a “horrendous” acting job. In 1988, he married his first wife, actress Alice Adair. They have two children, Trevor Mansur (born 1988) and Eden (born 1994), and later divorced in 1994. After going on his film hiatus, Brolin retreated to Rochester, NY to act on stage and reinvent his theatrical roots. He then moved onto one of his more prominent roles early in his career as Wild Bill Hickok in the ABC western TV series The Young Riders, which lasted three seasons (1989–92).

1996-2006

In 1996, he returned to film alongside Christian Slater in Bed of Roses. In the 90’s and into the early 2000’s, Brolin established himself as a talented actor and was cast by several notable directors as a result. He was cast by David O. Russell in Flirting With Disaster (1996), by Guillermo del Toro in Mimic (1997), and by Woody Allen in Melinda and Melinda (2005). It was also during this time that he had a short and publicised 6-month engagement to actress Minnie Driver. He later married actress Diane Lane in 2004, but the couple split in 2013.

2007-Present

Brolin’s brilliance as an actor was solidified in 2007 in the Coen brother’s classic, No Country for Old Men. In the film, Brolin plays the role of Llewelyn Moss, a welder and Vietnam veteran who flees with two million dollars in drug money that he finds in a field in Texas. He received great critical acclaim for his portrayal, and as a result, the offers for more work with incredible casts and directors rolled in. In the following years Brolin would work with Ridley Scott and Denzel Washington in American Gangster, Gus Van Sant and Sean Penn in Milk, for which he was given an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, the Coen Brothers again in True Grit and Hail, Caesar!, and Paul Thomas Anderson in Inherent Vice. 

More recently, Brolin’s been taking his talents to the superhero circuit, playing the role of Thanos in the Marvel Universe. He made appearances as the character in Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) and Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) while reprising the character in a starring role for Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and another upcoming Avengers film in 2019. In April 2017, Brolin signed a four-film contract with 20th Century Fox studios to portray the Marvel Comics character Nathan Summers / Cable in the X-Men film series. Deadpool 2 will be the first installment of that contract.

To top it all off, in 2016, Brolin married his former assistant and model Kathryn Boyd.

Veronica Ramirez, a 25-year-old teacher’s aide at a school in La Verne, California, has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges of sex crimes against a child under the age of 14.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, Ramirez, 25, was arrested on Friday, February 2 and booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga and was being held on $2 million bail. She posted the $150,000 bail the next day.

ABC reports that Ramirez was a teacher’s aide at a private school for special-needs children. The official criminal complaint filed against Ramirez states that the sexual relationship between her and the unidentified male victim began in September of 2017 and continued until December.

At her first appearance in court on February 2, Ramirez pleaded not guilty to four counts of lewd or lascivious acts with a child and three counts of oral copulation with a minor under 14, all felonies.

This is the latest in a string of teacher sex scandals over the last couple of years. In November, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers was arrested. Former nutrition teacher LaToya Parker was also arrested for a relationship with a student. Florida teacher Caroline Lawson was charged with sexual assault. 26-year-old Allyson Moran was also arrested for similar crimes. The 23-year-old high school teacher Katherine Ross Ridenhour was also arrested for an inappropriate relationship.

Furthermore, Hunter Day, 22, was also arrested after a sting operation. Megan Kotarski was also arrested on similar charges. Michelle Schiffer, a 23-year-old history teacher in Texas, was also charged and arrested for allegedly having sex with a teenage student. 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy was arrested in Maryland for her crimes in New Jersey. Samantha Fitzgerland, a 28-year-old, was most recently arrested and charged. Jordan Ondish was arrested for her inappropriate relationship with a 19-year-old, while 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick was arrested on similar charges.

Nicole Marie Andrews was arrested as well. 32-year-old Jessica Langford was arrested and charged with sexual assault-related crimes as well. A teacher from Oregon, Andrea Baber, was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.  Robin Dunlap, a teacher in Florida, was arrested for sending illicit photos to a 15-year-old boy in Texas. Teacher and tennis coach Jennifer Olajire-Aro was also charged. 42-year-old Heather Butts of California was arrested on a second-degree felony charge. Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student. Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016. 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship.

Valeria Costadoni was also arrested due to a relationship with her student. 40-year-old Kisha Nuckols was arrested for having sex with a student, too. Hilary Dattilo, a 30-year-old Ohio high school teacher, has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student. 30-year-old Missouri teacher Elizabeth Morgan was also arrested on similar charges. Trisha Anderson Rogers, a 47-year-old former student teacher at a North Carolina middle school was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to soliciting a young student for sex. 39-year-old Texas teacher Marisela Winn was also charged for her relationship with a student. Gabrielle Bauman who admitted to having a relationship with a student was only sentenced to probation. 29-year-old Dori Meyers has denied accusations against her about a relationship with an underage student. Taylor Boncal, a 22-year-old teacher, was also arrested for her relationship with a student.

Mel B, Victoria Beckham, Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie C met last week with their former manager, Simon Fuller. Sources connected to the women have said that the meeting was for “rough planning” of a world tour that is expected to kick off in late summer. Apparently, the group is expected to hit the stage in England first and then migrate over to the U.S. Contrary to previous reports, there is no plan for a Vegas residency or to record new music.

Simon Fuller, who made a lifetime’s worth of loot as the creator of “American Idol,” will manage the group during the tour. He certainly doesn’t need the money but says he’s organizing the tour because he enjoys working with the group.

For the longest time, it seemed like everyone but Victoria was down for a reunion. She’s now fully onboard and has attributed some of her change in motivation to the #MeToo movement. Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz announced on the Tuesday after his Birds won the Super Bowl that he and his longtime girlfriend Maddie Oberg, have gotten engaged.

Carson took to Twitter and wrote of the engagement: “She said YES! And now Maddie and I both got us a ring can’t wait to marry my best friend! God is doing some amazing things and I can’t thank him enough!”

Oberg studied elementary education at the Missouri Southern State University. Wentz was previously dating high school sweetheart Melissa Uhrich. Wentz and Uhrich started dating in high school. After graduation, Urich and Wentz went two different colleges, however, remained as a couple throughout.

It’s a hell of a week for the young franchise quarterback as the engagement announcement comes just two days after the Eagles’ shocking Super Bowl win over the Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Evil Empire of the New England Patriots.

There is no word yet on when the wedding will be, but we have to imagine it happens before the Eagles 2018 Super Bowl title defense.

Charlotte Veitner, a 22-year-old University of Connecticut’s women’s field hockey team player, has been arrested for allegedly stealing $34 worth of makeup for a campus bookstore.

According to reports, Veitner, 22, was detained on Sunday, February 4 at the university bookstore after staff told authorities that Veitner tried to hide the stolen items in her bag. Veitner was detained after surveillance footage showed concealing cosmetic items inside her purse.

The security footage showed Veitner pay for a separate item and begin heading toward the door when the staff stopped her.

“We are aware of the arrest and will have no further comment at this time,” a spokesman for UConn’s athletic communications department said.

Veitner, a native of Germany and an engineering major scheduled to graduate this year, was an All-American during her past two seasons.

She was the nation’s leading scorer last season, with 34 goals, 9 better than the next highest scorer. She became the team’s all-time leading scorer in early October, more than a month before she scored the two goals that gave the Huskies a 2-1 victory over Maryland and their fifth national field hockey title. The team went 23-0 on the season, which ended in November.

Veitner was the nation’s leading scorer last season with 34 goals.

Gulbahor Becknazar, known as Principessa Persiana on Instagram, is an Instagram model, YouTuber, and a beauty therapist — whatever that means.

Once seen partying with world-class boxer Amir Khan following his breakup with wife Faryal Makhdoom, Becknazar has almost 60,000 followers on the Gram.

According to The Sun, Becknazar is originally from Massachusetts but is currently based in the Middle East. Gulbahor has attended the New York Film Academy and her YouTube bio reads: “I love acting, and I can’t wait to get my first Oscar.”

Definitely one of the more underrated models on Instagram, Becknazar is definitely worth a for her exotic looks.

Well, as Murphy’s Law states, anything that can go wrong will go wrong, and that pretty much has been the story of the Knicks since even before the iPod came into existence. Since the new millennium began over eighteen years ago, season after season something has gone horribly wrong for the Knicks. Whether it’s the Knicks drafting someone who turns out to be a complete bust, signing someone during free agency and completely overpaying them, making a trade that is a headscratcher, or in this case a catastrophic injury that shakes the very foundation of the franchise, nothing EVER seems to go right for New York’s beloved basketball team since the “glory days” of Patrick Ewing.

For those of you that dont know, on February 6th the Knicks were playing the Bucks at the Garden, in the second quarter Knicks up and coming superstar Kristaps Porzingis dunked the ball all over Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Kristaps landed wrong when he came down from the dunk and had to be carried off to the locker room. At about 11 PM on February 6th reports came out that confirmed a Knicks fans worst fears, that the injury was severe and season-ending for Porzingis. Porzingis suffered a torn ACL, and he will not be on an NBA court for at least another eight months, possibly 12 months (which means he could miss most of next season to go along with missing the rest of this years NBA campaign). With Porzinigs out of the lineup until at least October (probably longer) and not knowing if he will ever be as good as he was before this injury, the Knicks must focus on what they must do now in the interim and in the long run, and that’s what I will be sharing with you in this article.

1. Knicks chances at making the Playoffs are now completely gone, so tank for a good draft pick, and let the young players PLAY.

Even with Porzingis healthy and playing well the Knicks chances at a playoff spot going into February 6th vs. Milwaukee were slim to none. The Knicks were four games out of the last playoff spot in the Eastern Conference before Porzingis got injured, and now without Kristaps in the everyday lineup, the Knicks roster is one of the five weakest roster’s in the NBA. Obviously, no NBA team can go out on to a court and not try or put in effort, it’s their job, they are getting paid to put in a maximum effort on the court night in and night out. What the Knicks should do is trade expiring contracts for draft picks or to shed salary (the Knicks just traded Willy Hernangomez to Charlotte for two second-round draft picks), so I guess they’re off to a decent start in that sense, I guess. For the remaining games, this season the Knicks should (but knowing the Knicks they will not) also give more minutes to the younger players on the roster such as rookie Frank Ntilikina and sparkplug Trey Burke. Veterans such as Jarett Jack and Courtney Lee should ride the bench more often then they have been (if they don’t get traded by the deadline) so the Knicks can see what these young players have to offer the Knicks going into next season.

2. Don’t Sign Any Major Free Agents This Summer, Not Even Lebron.

If you gave me a choice between a small rebuild that will get the Knicks to the seventh or eighth seed in the standings next season, or sitting dead last in the NBA standings for the next three years so the Knicks can get high draft picks that could potentially develop into superstars, ill take the second choice every single time. Knicks fans everywhere are tired of seeing the Knicks miss the Playoffs, but being the eight seed and getting destroyed in the first round, and not getting a lottery pick in the NBA draft at the end of the days is actually worse for any franchise in the long run than missing the playoffs altogether. In that case, why did I say dont sign Lebron? What if New York is on his radar this summer? (which it probably is not, but crazier things have happened, Wouldnt having LeBron on the Knicks, even if the rest of the roster is a bunch of bench players, make them at least a top-four team in the East? Yes, it probably would, the Knicks if they got Lebron would probably be one of the best teams in the East if LeBron came to MSG. But again, is that whats best for the franchise in the long term? At the end of the day the Knicks will advance to at least the second round, but then lose to a deeper and more talented team such as Boston, Toronto, or even the Bucks. Would Lebron stepping on to the court in the 2019 playoffs as a Knick be an amazing spectacle? Yes, and as a Knicks fan I would cherish the moment forever, but at the end of the day, it is not what is best for the Knicks in the long term. The Knicks should sign serviceable players to fill up the vacant roster spots going into next season, and by doing that probably finish near the bottom in the standings, get a high pick in the draft to play along Kristaps when he returns, and go from there (but again knowing the Knicks, they probably will not do this).

3. KEEP LOSING GAMES (Even When Porzingis Returns).

As I just stated, I believe the Knicks should just sign serviceable players to fill up the roster spots on the Knicks going into next season. The Knicks shouldn’t sign any star players, or overpay any player, whether he is a serviceable player or a star player, why overpay for any player if you’re trying to lose games anyway? Again they should give the young players a lot of playing time next year to let them develop and see how good they can become, which will include the top 10 pick the Knicks will most likely get in this year’s upcoming draft. All this might make sense, just suck until you best player returns, But why continue to lose games once your star returns to the court? Well, Kristaps is going to coming off a serious injury that could possibly affect his jump shot, speed, and dunking/shot-blocking ability. Basically, what I’m trying to say is that it will not be known for at least a year or so after Porzingis returns if he is the same player or has the same potential he did before the catastrophic injury. If the Knicks and their front office try to be competitive once he returns and he is not the same player, that will leave the Knicks once again in limbo between the 9th and 12th seeds in the conference most likely, which means they will most likely not get a top 5 pick once we already know Porzingis will never be the same player he was before the injury. If this scenario happens of Porzingis not being able to reach his potential, and he’s still surrounded by guys that are more or less bench players, they wont make the playoffs but won’t get a super high pick in the draft either, leaving them in an undesirable spot (but knowing the Knicks, I will not be surprised if this is how everything plays out over the next few years). So at the least, the Knicks should keep losing games to get high picks as a safety net just in case KP doesn’t turn out to be the player all Knicks fans are hoping he will become (but again, Knowing the stupidity of the Knicks front office, they will most likely not do this). All I can tell you is if you are a Knicks fan is to hope and pray, and maybe for the first time in almost two decades Knicks fans prayers will finally be answered, maybe.

Celebrity Big Brother is the new spin-off of the Big Brother franchise that will have some big names in the house together.

As you may know, Big Brother is itself based on a Dutch series, and Celebrity Big Brother has existed in foreign markets, sometimes with American celebrities, but this is the first time the show will be created within the American market.

The HouseGuests, as announced during a live show airing around The 60th Annual Grammy Awards, are as follows: Ariadna Gutiérrez, Brandi Glanville, Chuck Liddell, James Maslow, Keshia Knight Pulliam, Marissa Jaret Winokur, Mark McGrath, Metta World Peace, Omarosa Manigault, Ross Mathews and Shannon Elizabeth. Being a police sketch artist has always been a wildly fascinating career choice to me. Like, how does one actually end up with a job as a police sketch artist? Were they art majors in college who released that painting watercolor with their toes isn’t going to pay the bills? Or maybe they’re already police officers who just so happen to have a flair for the artistic.

Or maybe they’re actually just frauds, as this sketch artist appears to be, because this is hands down THE most incompetent police sketch I’ve ever seen. In fact, the sketch was so comical, that the police department responsible had to reaffirm that it was not drawn as a joke:

“We released all of those details together in our police log in the hope that someone recognizes the suspect. This was not done in jest,” the Lancaster Police Department said on Facebook.

And yet, somehow, it worked.

Hung Phuoc Nguyen, 44, homeless, pretended to be an employee at a vendor’s stand Jan. 30 at 23 N. Market St. while a real employee was away, police said. He reportedly fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police released a detailed description Tuesday, along with a hand-drawn sketch of Nguyen, submitted by a witness at the time. Nguyen was positively identified by a witness as well as investigators and veteran officers who recognized his physical description and alleged motive, police said.

“While the sketch provided by the witness may have appeared amateurish and cartoonish, it, along with the distinctive physical descriptors, jogged the memory of at least one investigator to provide a potential suspect name,” Lancaster police said on the department’s Crime Watch page.

Nguyen was charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking. Police checked his last known address, but he wasn’t found.

In November 2017, we reported that Ohio State University had suspended all fraternities due to instances of hazing and alcohol abuse. Now, in February 2018, nearly all the Ohio State University fraternities that were suspended in November have been cleared to resume recruitment events and, in many cases, social events.

The suspension of the 37 fraternities began in November after 11 chapters came under investigation earlier in the school year. One fraternity has been suspended for three years for hazing and other violations, and three other chapters were put under disciplinary probation.

Following the beginning of the 2018 Spring semester, OSU’s fraternity chapters have regained clearance to resume activities by submitting school-approved plans for conducting activities safely, including committing to hazing prevention efforts and alcohol-free recruitment.

All fraternities except one, that is: Zeta Psi.

All but one of 37 Ohio State University fraternities has had part of its suspension on group activities lifted.

In November, OSU suspended all recruitment, new member and social activities for its 37 fraternities governed by the Interfraternity Council. The school began lifting suspensions over the last two months and the group Zeta Psi is the only one that remains on full suspension, according to Ohio State’s greek life website.

While there’s no word on exactly what Zeta did to cause their suspension, it must have been pretty damn intense considering they’re the ONLY fraternity at the school that remains suspended.
