Elon Musk is in the news for more cool, tech, billionaire-type stuff. No, not for selling “temperature enhancement devices”, but back to his usual rocket ways. His aerospace / flamethrowing company, SpaceX, will be launching their Falcon Heavy rocket today at 1:30 PM ET. The Heavy will launch from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. This historical launch site was used for the Apollo 11 mission to the Moon as well as numerous Space Shuttle missions, including the final Shuttle launch.

If successful, the Heavy will be the most powerful operational rocket in the world. It can carry up to 140,000 pounds, which is more than twice the amount of any other rocket. It’s also relatively cheap at a cost of $90 million per flight. Not too bad when compared to the next most powerful rocket, the Delta IV Heavy, which runs about $350 million per launch. I’m not very in the know of rocket science but it sounds like that’s good for SpaceX because bringing more stuff into space would open a whole new line of business for them. They would be able to do anything from sending heavier satellites into orbit to sending people into deep space (i.e. Mars colonization). Also, a cheap, powerful rocket like this could catch the eye of NASA. They may use this for robotic science missions to Mars and other worlds, or to even take people and heavy cargo to the Moon.

Also worth noting – SpaceX says it will send two paying customers around the Moon using the Falcon Heavy at some point in the future. Count me out for that one, but this means a launch that doesn’t end in an explosion would be one giant step for space tourism.

The Early Years

Born in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 1963, Quentin was brought up with a love of media, being named after Gunsmoke character, Quint Asper, and grew up in California. Dropping out of high school as a teenager, Tarantino took many unorthodox ways to enter the film industry. Lying about his age, he got a job at Pussycat Theatre, an adult theater. Taking acting classes, he even appeared in a 1988 episode of The Golden Girls, playing an Elvis impersonator. In 1987, Tarantino co-wrote and directed a movie called My Best Friend’s Birthday, that was partially lost in a lab fire.

1990-1999

In the early 1990’s, Tarantino was able to enter the professional writing circuit with the script of From Dusk Till Dawn. In 1992, he had his big break with Reservoir Dogs, which screened at the Sundance Film Festival. In 1993, his screenplay, True Romance, which was based on My Best Friend’s Birthday, was adapted into a film; around the same time, he also sold the script for Natural Born Killers. In 1994, he combined his work in front of and behind the camera for Pulp Fiction, where he even played a character. He was also an uncredited screenwriter on both Crimson Tide, in 1995, and The Rock, the following year. Towards the end of the decade, he released his third feature film, Jackie Brown, in 1997, a homage to the “blaxploitation” films of the 1970’s, starring Pam Grier.

2000-2009

Tarantino’s breakout hit of the new millennium was Kill Bill, homaging the Italian and Asian film industries and starring Uma Thurman, who previously worked with Tarantino for Pulp Fiction. Early in the new decade, he also returned to acting be appearing the ABC television series Alias. His next project was the film, Death Proof, which appeared in the collaborative Grindhouse double-feature. Towards the end of the decade, he produced the horror film, Hostel, and released the film, Inglourious Bastards, in 2009, a project which had been in development hell since the start of the decade.

2010-Present

In 2011, Tarantino had one of his biggest hits with Django Unchained. In 2014, he came out with the follow-up film, The Hateful Eight, initially released in 2015 as a roadshow presentation.

Nick Foles is fresh off a magical Super Bowl run with the Philadelphia Eagles, Foles played his balls off in the Super Bowl going step for step with Brady. Foles finished the game 28-43, for 373 YDS, with 3 TD, 1 INT, and a receiving TD! That performance also got Foles the Super Bowl MVP, once the confetti settles the Eagles have a tough choice to make, keep Foles who has one more year on his contract as a backup to Carson Wentz or trade Foles while his value is at an all-time high. The only thing I can see stopping a trade from happening would be a set back in Wentz’s rehab, so they hold on to Foles just in case Wentz can’t go. I don’t see that happening, so let’s take a look at the top landing sports for Nick.

Denver Broncos

It’s no secret that the Broncos future at QB is bleak with 2015 first round pick Paxton Lynch looking like a complete injury prone dud, it wouldn’t shock me if Elway goes after Foles. Foles will also be a heck of a lot cheaper than Cousins and can at least be a stop gap for Lynch to get himself right or help groom a new young QB. Denver is also shopping CB Aqib Talib so I could see Talib and a 3rd for Foles and a 5th totally going through and it helps both teams. Denver gets their QB and the Eagles get a huge boost to their weakest unit as they look to repeat as champs.

Buffalo Bills

The Bills making it to the playoffs this year was a huge step for the franchise because not only did it restore faith in Buffalo but it broke the longest active playoff drought in the NFL. The Bills didn’t make the playoffs because of Tyrod Taylor, and the 100% didn’t make it because of Nathan Peterman, but the Bills lost their playoff game against the Jags because of their QB play. The Bills need a QB; they have a really good defense who thrives off turnovers and a great run game led by LeSean McCoy. Plug in Nick Foles, and you got yourself a pretty good team to try and make a run. Oh and Foles beat Brady on the biggest stage, now he’ll have a chance to beat him twice a year!

New York Jets

Whenever you talk about a QB going to a new team almost every time you can bring up the Jets, The Jets got unexpectedly good play out of Josh McCown this year, but I don’t think they’re falling for that again after what happened with Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Jets have a lot of young pieces and the 6th overall pick in this year’s draft if they can trade a second round pick for Foles and trade down in the draft to get more picks and fill some gaps they too can become competitive. In my opinion, it depends on what the price tag is for Foles if they have to give up a first round pick I don’t think they should do that, but if it’s only a 2nd or higher than why not pull the trigger.

Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals should be in win-now mode as Larry Fitzgerald continues to defy logic, their defense is in the primes of their career, and they get David Johnson back from injury. The Cardinals are in the market for a QB; I don’t think they believe in Drew Stanton as anything more than a backup and new coach Steve Wilks will be looking to have “his guy.” Usually, with a veteran team like this, they will opt to trade or sign a vet QB instead of drafting a young kid out of the draft and hoping he performs. Foles could step right in and lead the Cardinals to the playoffs; it will be interesting to see what they do.

Baltimore Ravens

I always like to bring in a dark horse team for situations like this, many of you are probably like why would the Ravens go after Foles? I’ll tell you why Joe Flacco SUCKS!!!!! Flacco is coming off another atrocious year, and the Ravens still almost made the playoffs. The Ravens are built to win now their defense is littered with veteran players and the only thing holding them back is the lack of production out of the QB position. It wouldn’t shock me to see the Ravens go out and acquire Foles and take a couple more shots at the Super Bowl before this roster has to be rebuilt.

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz announced on the Tuesday after his Birds won the Super Bowl that he and his longtime girlfriend Maddie Oberg, have gotten engaged.

Carson took to Twitter and wrote of the engagement: “She said YES! And now Maddie and I both got us a ring can’t wait to marry my best friend! God is doing some amazing things and I can’t thank him enough!”

Oberg studied elementary education at the Missouri Southern State University. Wentz was previously dating high school sweetheart Melissa Uhrich. Wentz and Uhrich started dating in high school. After graduation, Urich and Wentz went two different colleges, however, remained as a couple throughout.

It’s a hell of a week for the young franchise quarterback as the engagement announcement comes just two days after the Eagles’ shocking Super Bowl win over the Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the Evil Empire of the New England Patriots.

There is no word yet on when the wedding will be, but we have to imagine it happens before the Eagles 2018 Super Bowl title defense.

The Elimination Chamber match has a reputation for being one of the most dangerously exciting spectacles in the WWE. It has made careers, while shortening many others. But for the first time in the history of the chamber, female performers will be able to participate. On the February 5 episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, general manager Kurt Angle announced all the participants for the first-ever women’s Elimination Chamber match. Later this month, Alexa Bliss will be in the fight of her life as she defends her WWE Raw Women’s Championship against five of the best female wrestlers on the roster inside an extremely chaotic chamber. Can “Little Miss” Bliss overcome the odds and keep that championship around her waste for another night?

Kurt Angle’s announcement really angered champion Alexa Bliss. She even accused Angle of “sexism” because the male (Universal) champion Brock Lesnar doesn’t have to defend his title inside an Elimination Chamber or at all, for that matter, until WrestleMania 34. Being involved in a history-making match isn’t enough for Bliss, she demands equality.

Another big-time match for the women includes a showdown between the towering Nia Jax and the undefeated “Empress of Tomorrow” Asuka. If Jax is able to take out Asuka and secure the victory then she’ll be added to the Raw Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania 34.

Meanwhile, the best male wrestlers on the roster are also scheduled to lock horns inside the hellish confines of the Elimination Chamber. Last night on Raw, Roman Reigns and The Miz qualified for the chamber by defeating Bray Wyatt and Apollo Crews respectively.

The Delta Tau Delta fraternity at the University of Southern California is facing backlash for a party they threw at their house on Friday, February 2. Some people are saying that the fraternity’s “Black Friday” theme was racially insensitive, while others think the controversy is being overblown.

Guests and students at the party took pictures at the showing graffiti and banners bearing the words “for the culture,” “Black Friday,” and “Jemimah.” The fraternity is now under investigation by the university due to the party.

According to NBC Los Angeles, a member of the fraternity said that original theme for the party was going to be “Blackout Friday” but the fraternity’s executive board turned down that name because they thought it was a reference to alcohol — “blackout drunk.”

The fraternity changed the name to “Black Friday.” The treasurer for the fraternity told USC’s student newspaper the Daily Trojan that the fraternity places great value on diversity and they didn’t mean to offend anyone.

USC student Megan Wood said people of many different races attended and wore black to the party, and there were no disturbances.

“I thought it was a black out theme, like I know they had black lights inside the house. So I don’t think it was mean to be racially insensitive at all,” she said. But the vice president of student affairs says he’s disheartened by the images, and ignorance is not an excuse.

Ainsley Carry issued a statement saying in part: “…even if the organizers did not start out meaning to offend, the result is offensive….. Bigotry will not go unchallenged within this community.”

The fraternity has not been disciplined or suspended as of yet but is currently under investigation.

I have this running joke (I’m kind of serious) that while communism may not be the best economic approach, it might not have been the worst idea for God (or science, either way) to apply the methodology to creating people, but too often is the balance of power out of whack.

On one hand, you have a homeless dude, and on the other you have Jared Leto singing in a rock band and winning Oscars. On one hand, there’s a sick child, on the other is Paige Spiranac, a bombshell 10 out of 10 who also happens to be a professional golfer. Like to be a wildly successful person, she only needed one of those things: killer looks OR professional-level golf skills. Does one person really need all that power? It’s not for me to say.

Paige Spiranac first burst onto the scene a couple of years ago as a wildly talented golfer out of San Diego State University. She once made first All-MountainWest Conference and won a Colorado State Match Play tournament.

On Saturday, February 10, UFC will host its second pay-per-view event of the year. UFC 221 will feature Olympic silver medalist Yoel Romero and the division’s former ruler Luke Rockhold in the headlining fight of the evening. Paige Spiranac, the gorgeous 24-year-old blonde professional golfer, has been announced as the first athlete who will appear in Sports Illustrated’s 2018 Swimsuit Edition magazine. Spiranac will be appearing in the legendary magazine for the first time.

Spiranac announced her inclusion in the magazine on Instagram:

In 2017, the LPGA introduced a stricter dress code for its female players, disallowing tour pros from wear shirts with plunging necklines, leggings, or short skirts. Spiranac, who is known for her looks and outfits, became one of the fiercest critics of the new dress code.

Speaking to Sports Illustrated, Spiranac said that she’s hoping to use this platform and role as an influencer to bring awareness to the problem of cyberbullying. Furthermore, Paige works with Cybersmile, a nonprofit devoted to ending cyberbullying.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, otherwise known as the two dudes who brought Game of Thrones to your television screens, are about to take on an arguably much larger endeavor: developing a new series of Star Wars movies.

These movies, which have no titles or release dates, will be separate from both current Skywalker saga and the recently-announced trilogy being developed by Star Wars: The Last Jedi director Rian Johnson.

While the hardcore fans may disagree, this move feels as though its another step towards “too much Star Wars” territory.

It was announced today that Benioff and Weiss, creators of the smash-hit, Emmy Award-winning television series Game of Thrones, will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films.

“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” said Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”

“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since,” Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”

The announcement comes just days after the release of the first trailer for Solo: A Star Wars Story, the Star Wars anthology movie based on the young life of the galaxy’s most notorious smuggler, Han Solo.

While no details about the new series have been revealed, with Game Of Thrones production finally coming to an end sometime this year, we can imagine the pair getting to work on the project right away.

The Fabulous Five is making a comeback. Well, in spirit, at least. Netflix has brought back the Bravo show that took the new millennium on by storm with a whole new cast.

Antoni Porowski, Bobby Berk, Karamo Brown, Jonathan Van Ness & Tan France will step into the stylized, overpriced shoes of their predecessors as the new Fab 5. Just like with the originals, they each come with the specialized skills:

In addition, due to a lack of advertisements, the new Fab 5 have a bit more freedom in what they can recommend to viewers. Because let’s be honest, by helping one person each episode, they are saving mankind from itself by example!

According to NBC News, one of the new guys, France, explained why both shows should be viewed as something different from the original:

“With this being a legacy show, there’s a great importance on making sure we represent and fill the shoes of the original cast. However, we are so different, so it’s comparing apples and oranges.”

“We’re so diverse, we come from different walks of life, and we’re in the South, which is so different than where the show filmed last time. The one similarity though is that it’s super light-hearted, super fun and hopefully represents our community and shows a different side that I think most people don’t see.”

Can they join forces and save mankind from itself? Or at least poor taste? Watch for yourself during its Netflix premiere!

Anderson County Sheriff’s Office

Samantha Woolverton, a 32-year-old former teacher at Palestine High School in Texas, has been charged with having an improper relationship with a student.

Woolverton, 32, was arrested by Palestine police without incident at her Palestine home. She was charged with a second-degree felony.

According to local reports, police began to investigate Woolverton on Jauary 31 after learning of the allegations from a social media post. The Palestine Independent School District placed Woolverton on administrative leave last week, pending an investigation.

Woolverton was booked on Tuesday, Feburary 6 into the Anderson County Jail on a $75,000 bond. If convicted, she faces 2-20 years in prison

This is the latest in a string of teacher sex scandals over the last couple of years. In November, Tennessee teacher Janet Smothers was arrested. Former nutrition teacher LaToya Parker was also arrested for a relationship with a student. Florida teacher Caroline Lawson was charged with sexual assault. 26-year-old Allyson Moran was also arrested for similar crimes. The 23-year-old high school teacher Katherine Ross Ridenhour was also arrested for an inappropriate relationship.

Furthermore, Hunter Day, 22, was also arrested after a sting operation. Megan Kotarski was also arrested on similar charges. Michelle Schiffer, a 23-year-old history teacher in Texas, was also charged and arrested for allegedly having sex with a teenage student. 29-year-old Alyssia Marie Reddy was arrested in Maryland for her crimes in New Jersey. Samantha Fitzgerland, a 28-year-old, was most recently arrested and charged. Jordan Ondish was arrested for her inappropriate relationship with a 19-year-old, while 28-year-old Samantha Fitzpatrick was arrested on similar charges.

Nicole Marie Andrews was arrested as well. 32-year-old Jessica Langford was arrested and charged with sexual assault-related crimes as well. A teacher from Oregon, Andrea Baber, was accused of having a sexual relationship with a student.  Robin Dunlap, a teacher in Florida, was arrested for sending illicit photos to a 15-year-old boy in Texas. Teacher and tennis coach Jennifer Olajire-Aro was also charged. 42-year-old Heather Butts of California was arrested on a second-degree felony charge. Nancy Leigh Ann Brann, a former Christian school teacher, was arrested for having sex with a student. Coine Audiat pleaded no contest to having sex with a minor in 2016. 23-year-old Darci Lake was arrested for an inappropriate relationship.

Valeria Costadoni was also arrested due to a relationship with her student. 40-year-old Kisha Nuckols was arrested for having sex with a student, too. Hilary Dattilo, a 30-year-old Ohio high school teacher, has been accused of having a sexual relationship with a female student. 30-year-old Missouri teacher Elizabeth Morgan was also arrested on similar charges. Trisha Anderson Rogers, a 47-year-old former student teacher at a North Carolina middle school was sentenced to eight months in prison after pleading guilty to soliciting a young student for sex. 39-year-old Texas teacher Marisela Winn was also charged for her relationship with a student. Gabrielle Bauman who admitted to having a relationship with a student was only sentenced to probation. 29-year-old Dori Meyers has denied accusations against her about a relationship with an underage student. Taylor Boncal, a 22-year-old teacher, was also arrested for her relationship with a student.

The Beta Theta Pi fraternity at the University of Central Florida has been suspended after a mother complained that her son was forced to chug a bottle of alcohol while he was pledging.

According to reports, Beta Theta Pi was accused of hazing and providing alcohol to underage students in November after a mother of a student reported that her son was forced to chug a “huge bottle” of alcohol during a pledge event.

While a spokesman for Beta Theta Pi did not answer questions about whether the underage drinking and hazing occurred, they did send out a statement saying the organization is working with students, alumni and university officials to investigate the claims.

The university’s action stemmed from an letter that a mother of a former pledge wrote to Beta Theta Pi’s national organization about her son being dismissed from the fraternity. As a pledge, the woman wrote, her son had to perform favors for the current members, including providing rides to them and their girlfriends and cleaning the house for parties at 4 a.m. And, the mother wrote, her son was sick after fraternity members forced him to drink Smirnoff Ice.

“Being concerned, I did not understand why one drink made him sick until he sent a picture of the huge bottle he was pressured and forced to chug,” she wrote. “I told him that he needed to be careful as he is not used to drinking, and I was worried about him and the other pledges.”

The mother said her son was told he was asked to join Beta Theta Pi because of his high GPA, social life, community service and participation in intramural sports.

A hearing for the organization has been scheduled for February 16.

This is the latest fraternity suspension in the last year, as schools such as Indiana University, the University of Michigan, Ohio State University, Texas State, Florida State, Ball State, Louisiana State and Penn State have all suspended fraternities.

Manuel Orrego-Zavala, the immigrant accused of killing an Indianapolis Colts player and an Uber driver during a drunk-driving crash on Super Bowl weekend, faces multiple charges in connection with the case.

According to the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office, Orrego-Zavala was charged with two counts of failure to remain at the scene of an accident and two counts of causing death when operating a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration of .15 or more. Edwin Jackson, a linebacker for the Indianapolis Colts, and an Uber driver were killed in the accident.

Reports indicate that Orrego-Zavala, an undocumented immigrant who has been deported from the country twice, crashed his truck on I-70 near Holt Road in the early hours of Sunday, February 4.

The driver, Jeffrey Monroe, 54, and Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson, 26, were standing outside their vehicle when Orrego-Zavalas’ truck hit them, killing them instantly. A test showed his blood-alcohol content was nearly three times Indiana’s legal limit of .08. He fled the scene, but an Indiana State trooper later apprehended him.

According to NBC, Josh Minkler, the U.S. attorney for Indianapolis and southern Indiana, said that Orrego-Zavala gave investigators the alias “Alex G. Cabrera” but that Homeland Security agents soon discovered his true identity.

“The defendant in this case allegedly re-entered the country illegally for the second time before he put the public safety of Indianapolis at risk and took the lives of two innocent men early Sunday morning,” said Minkler. “In April, Attorney General Sessions directed all federal prosecutors to prioritize charging aliens that illegally re-enter the country, especially if they are a risk to public safety or there is a criminal history present. Following the rule of law is the foundation of our American democracy, and my office is committed to fulfilling the Attorney General’s directive.”

Orrego-Zavala, who is set to appear in court for an initial hearing on Wednesday, February 7, also faces a federal immigration charge.

President Trump politicized Jackson’s death on Twitter, saying:

“So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed @Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson. This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!”

However, he failed to mention the death of Monroe, who was a less recognizable figure.

In fact, the original Deadpool was so hilarious, that some people, myself included, consider it more of a comedy than an action film.

Now, after two years of secrecy, details about the film slowly but surely leaked out, with the first trailer finally dropping today!

The “official” synopsis for ‘Deadpool 2’:

Wisecracking mercenary Deadpool battles ninjas, the yakuza and a pack of aggressive canines as he embarks on a new adventure.

While Deadpool 2 works just fine for us, we would have liked to see something like “Deadpooler”, “Deadpool: The Sequel” or “Deadpool Number Two”.

Deadpool 2 is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Deadpool, distributed by 20th Century Fox.

It is intended to be the eleventh installment in the X-Men film series and a sequel to the 2016 film Deadpool. The film is being directed by David Leitch from a script by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, with Ryan Reynolds starring in the title role alongside Morena Baccarin, T.J. Miller, Leslie Uggams, Brianna Hildebrand, Stefan Kapičić, Zazie Beetz, Josh Brolin, and Jack Kesy.

It is scheduled to be released on May 18, 2018.

The body that was found in a creek in Louisville, Tennessee, on Monday, February 5, has been identified as 20-year-old Crown College student Blake Smith. Smith, who was identified on Tuesday, February 6, went missing over the weekend.

According to reports, an autopsy performed Tuesday at the Knox County Regional Forensic Center determined Smith’s preliminary cause of death to be “hypothermia/drowning” and that his death appears to be accidental.

While the Blount County Sheriff’s Office released a statement, spokeswoman Marian O’Briant did not immediately return calls from the Knoxville News Sentinel seeking comment on how the death was deemed accidental.

Smith went missing on Saturday, February 3 and was found the following Monday.

Smith, 20, an aspiring pastor from Trussville, Alabama, was reported missing Sunday after he failed to return to his dorm at Crown College in Powell on Saturday night. Smith was reportedly last seen Saturday afternoon. He left work at Weed Man Lawn Care and stopped at his dorm before leaving, according to his parents, Jim and Kim Smith.

The Smiths said they used a photo their son posted to Instagram on Saturday afternoon to identify Admiral Farragut Park in Knoxville as his last known location. Blake Smith loved to hike and often took scenic photos, his father said. On Sunday, Smith’s car was found wrecked at a construction site off East Old Topside Road in Louisville, roughly 7½ miles from the park.

The car had crashed into the deck of a home that is under construction, the Blount County Sheriff’s Office said. Authorities found Smith’s cell phone and other personal belongings at the site. A team of police dogs searched the area but did not find Smith.

The family has reportedly not made memorial arrangements at this time. Crown College, which enrolls about 500 students, held prayer vigils on Sunday and Monday for Smith.
