Some of the best photos can literally come out of nowhere. It doesn’t take a professional photographer to create a breath-taking, once in a lifetime picture. New Year’s Resolutions 2018: Top 6 Resolutions & How To Actually Keep Them

0

Shutterstock

The New Year is quickly approaching and that means a couple of things. First, it probably means you are doing a lot of reflecting on 2017. For some, that means looking back on the great year that is coming to a close. For others, it means wondering how they can make 2018 be better than 2017.

Whatever New Years means to you, it can be a time to take a step back and really set some goals for yourself. It can be a time to decide what you want 2018 to be for you and how you can take the steps to make sure that happens. New Years is the perfect time to let go of any negativity that you may have in 2017 and bring some light and positive energy into the new year.

With that being said, now’s your chance to sit down and make a list of all of the important changes you want to see in 2018. Maybe you want to rid yourself of negativity surrounding you or maybe you want to move away from your hometown and start fresh.

Whatever the case is, we know that resolutions can sometimes be tricky. Sure, it sounds great. Just make a plan and stick with it, that’s easy enough, right? Wrong. Sometimes life just gets in the way and resolutions become forgotten ideas. Well, I’m here to help make sure that doesn’t happen to you! Here’s a list of some of the best and most popular resolutions to help make 2018 a great one. Oh, and some tips and tricks on how to actually stick to them!

1. Get in shape

Get in shape

Probably one of the most common New Years resolutions in America is to work out more, get in shape or just stay healthy/fit. There’s tons of exercise programs and diet plans out there, it can be overwhelming. The most important thing to remember when trying to stick to this resolution is to find whatever works for you. A no-carb diet might work for your friend, but it might not work for you, and that’s okay. Find something that works for you and it’ll make it much easier to stick to your resolution!

2. Stop procrastinating

Another huge block for a lot of people, especially college students (come on guys, don’t lie), is procrastination and poor time management. How many times have you saved that 12-page paper for the night before and wanted to actually punch yourself in the face? Yeah, me too. With that being said, the new year is the perfect time to make a promise to yourself to manage your time better and stop putting things off until the last minute. Try keeping yourself organized or leaving your notes to yourself as reminders to get stuff done.

3. Earn more money

Money Saving Tips

I’m pretty sure everyone in the world wants more money, even people that might not need it. Unfortunately, money is a huge part of life and it’s much easier to spend it than it is to earn it. There’s actually tons of ways to make extra money, even while keeping a regular 9-5 job. There’s tons of side jobs you can do on the side, even being a babysitter or a nanny. You can even work as a freelancer or use the internet to make some extra cash.

4. Reduce stress

Who else wants to reduce their stress and be more relaxed? Everyone? That’s what I thought. Stress can be so destructive to the human body and can effect your health and relationships with others. Although stress may be unavoidable in some times of our lives, there are tons of things you can do this year to make sure you can at least cope with stress well, therefore reducing it and living a happier life. Things like yoga and meditation are great ways to reduce stress. Keep it simple by setting some time aside for yourself to get away from the hectic every day routine.

5. Give up bad habits

Everybody has bad habits. Whether it’s something big like smoking, or something minor like biting your nails, a bad habit is a bad habit. It’s important that we recognize our bad habits and do our best to stop them. The most important thing to remember when trying to give up habits is to remain dedicated and not to get down on yourself if you have some setbacks in your progress. It happens to everyone and all things take time.

6. Rid yourself of negative people

It’s so easy to get caught up in negativity, especially when you’re surrounded by negative people. Sometimes you don’t even realize people are negative influences on you until they’re long gone. In life it’s important to surround yourself with people who lift you up rather than bring you down. If you’re having a hard time riding yourself of negative people, just try to slowly distance yourself from them and their negativity. If that doesn’t work, you can always sit them down and be honest. Remember, the most important person in your life is you and it’s more than okay to put yourself first.

Utah vs. West Virginia Live Stream: How to Watch Heart of Dallas Bowl Online

In the second set of weekday bowl games, there is a game between two average team. These teams are the Utah Utes and the West Virginia Mountaineers. Both teams had above average expectations this season but failed to fulfill those expectations despite qualifying for a bowl game. Now, both teams will want to add a bowl victory to potentially redeem their seasons.

Utah’s success was due to its quarterback Tyler Huntley. In nine games this season, Huntley threw for 2,246 passing yards along with 15 touchdowns. In addition to his passing statistics, Huntley also ran for 480 rushing yards and four touchdowns which makes him extremely dangerous due to his dual threat ability. However, Huntley did throw ten interceptions in those nine games which suggest that he is somewhat turnover prone. If Utah plans on winning this game, Huntley will need to take better control of the ball.

West Virginia’s success was primarily due to its star quarterback Will Grier. This season, Grier threw for 34 touchdowns and over 3,400 passing yards. However, Grier suffered a gruesome finger injury against Texas in the second-to-last regular season game which caused him to miss the finale against Oklahoma. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, Grier’s dislocated finger will also cause him to miss this bowl game. Replacing him is quarterback Chris Chugunov who threw for two touchdowns and no interceptions in limited action this season. With his lack of experience, expect West Virginia to lean heavily on its running game against Utah.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Utah. West Virginia enters this game without its best player which makes me question the effectiveness of its offense with a backup quarterback. Meanwhile, Utah is completely healthy and I expect its defense to shut down West Virginia’s offense. I think that Utah wins this game by double digits.

College Basketball Power Rankings 2017: Week 8 Rankings

0
0

Although there will certainly be weeks where total chaos abounds, there will also be times where there is a just a modicum of a shakeup in the rankings. This is not to say that this past week of college basketball was uneventful. In fact, North Carolina’s shocking loss to Wofford at home was a monumental upset for a program that appeared to be firing on all cylinders. Although Miami’s loss to New Mexico State was not quite as devastating, it was still a head-scratching upset when you consider how defensively sound and disciplined the Hurricanes were before succumbing to a lesser opponent. While the top four programs from last week were able to cruise through their respective holiday schedules, they will certainly need to be prepared to take on the next wave of eager opposition as conference play commences.

1. Villanova Wildcats

The last time the top-tier Wildcats won a game by less than double digits was on November 23rd against Tennessee. This type of dominance has now become a regular part of what Wildcats do in every contest they have competed in, which is a testament to the well-established continuity and balance on both offense and defense. As Big East play gets underway, the top-ranked Wildcats will look to set the bar even higher as the season progresses into the New Year.

2. Michigan State Spartans

With their last win against a ranked opponent occurring on November 30th, the defensively tenacious Spartans are simply biding their time until Big 10 play commences. Although the conference may not be as fierce has it has been, the parity that makes up the deep conference should be a great measuring stick for a program that has legitimate ambitions of winning a National Title.

3. Arizona State Sun Devils

The effectiveness of the Sun Devils as a prolific shooting program is simply unreal. Nevertheless, Arizona State continues to make the seemingly impossible look easy as all five of their starters are averaging double figures when it comes to points scored per game. On top of that, the Sun Devils have impressive depth on their roster, especially when it comes to skillful rebounders that are fearless when it comes to pulling down defensive rebounds.

4. Duke Blue Devils

Playing just one game in the past two weeks, the anxious Blue Devils have to be chomping at the bit to compete against a respectable program. With Florida State coming up next, the offensively gifted Blue Devils will look to come out and quickly overwhelm a defensively tough Seminoles program with heavy doses of shooting and rebounding.

5. Xavier Musketeers

Offensively, the Musketeers have been both relentless and patient when it comes to finding their shots on the court. However, Xavier has been adamant about setting a much stronger defensive tone as they have held four out of their last five opponents to 70 points or less. It may not be their strength, but the highly-competitive Musketeers are valiantly attempting to make themselves a versatile program that can win in more ways than one.

6. Texas A&M Aggies

For any program that attempts to match Texas A&M’s physicality and rebounding capabilities, watch out. Pulling down 45.1 rebounds per game, the Aggies have been able to garner a plethora of opportunities to score despite being less than impressive as a shooting team. Although the end results may not always be pretty for the Aggies, they have proven that they can wear down their opponents down the stretch to prevent a hard-fought comeback.

7. West Virginia Mountaineers

With the Big 12 Conference emphatically reigning supreme as the best in college basketball, it should not come as a surprise that five teams from the conference are considered top-25 programs. Currently, the seemingly unstoppable Mountaineers are vying for the top spot in the conference, with their lone loss to Texas A&M being their nagging slip up thus far. Assuming the Mountaineers can continue to score (84.8 PPG) and defend (63.4 PAPG) this well when conference play begins, they could elevate themselves to the top of the standings sooner rather than later.

8. Wichita State Shockers

Although the Shockers have faltered on defense from time to time, they have mostly been a complete program that can implement various strategies and styles to their advantage. Considering Wichita State can both rebound (43 RPG) and pass the ball (18 APG) at an exceptional level, this team has to feel great about where they are so far in spite of the two losses they have sustained this season.

9. Oklahoma Sooners

Aside from a porous defense (79.1 PAPG), the Oklahoma Sooners have played and looked like one of the best teams in the country. Certainly, it helps when you have the most prolific scorer in the country in Trae Young on your roster (28.7 PPG, 10.4 APG). If Young can minimize his mistakes when it comes to turnovers (3.8 TPG), this program could easily win the Big 12 Conference outright by the end of the season.

10. Miami Hurricanes

Although the Hurricanes have obviously had their struggles on offense this season, it was fairly surprising that their first loss of the season was against New Mexico State at home. Still, this defeat should benefit this well-coached program more than it actually hurts it. The priority for the Hurricanes at this point has to be to establish a more unselfish style of play on offense while taking more high-percentage shots from close to midrange.

11. Virginia Cavaliers

Surprisingly, the defensively dominant Cavaliers have actually been competent on offense during their last five games (scored 75 points or more in four out of their last five games). Granted, this feat was accomplished as the result of competing against the lesser known opposition, but the Cavaliers have to feel somewhat relieved that they can score enough points to at least force their opponents to score consistently in order to have a chance of winning.

12. TCU Horned Frogs

Slowly but surely, the undefeated Horned Frogs are climbing through the national ranks of college basketball. With an offense that is both efficient (19.7 APG) and aggressive (87.5 PPG), the Horned Frogs have proudly established their identity and are now anxiously waiting to prove that they can be the new kings of the Big 12.

13. North Carolina Tar Heels

While losing a game at home to an inferior non-conference opponent is never ideal, the national embarrassment appears to, at least for now, have galvanized this talented program (defeated Ohio State 86-72 after the loss to Wofford). For the well-respected Tar Heels, their recipe for success will rest largely on the shoulders of Luke Maye, with Joel Berry II and Theo Pinson needing to contribute more as both shooters and trusted passers.

14. Kansas Jayhawks

For most teams, being ranked in the top-15 would be a tremendous and well-deserved badge of honor. However, the somewhat discombobulated Jayhawks have to be disappointed with being in the middle of the standings of the Big 12 Conference. With that being said, the Jayhawks have quietly won three games in a row and will begin Big 12 play with the hope of regaining their rightful place at the top of the conference.

15. Arizona Wildcats

After experiencing one of the worst weeks in the history of their program (lost three games in a row during a seven-day span), the never say die Wildcats have rattled off seven wins in a row with one of their victories coming against a top-tier Texas A&M Aggies squad. Although the Wildcats defense needs to be more consistent in order to sustain this success, they have the talented pieces on their roster to outshoot their opposition until they can establish a more well-balanced presence on the court.

16. Kentucky Wildcats

Just when it appeared that the youthful Wildcats had finally reached their lofty potential, their most recent loss to UCLA begs the question if this inexperienced roster peaked too early. While there needs to a much more prominent sample size of losing before the Wildcats can be condemned as overrated, this program needs to cut down on the turnovers (15 TPG) and become more consistent with hitting their perimeter shots (36 3P%) if they hope to remain competitive in the SEC.

17. Purdue Boilermakers

Riding an eight-game winning streak, the Boilermakers have comfortably shut down their respective opponents on offense (scored under 80 points only twice during the win streak) and defense (have held their opponents to under 70 points in seven out of their last eight games). If the Boilermakers can establish a stronger presence as a rebounding program, they will be constantly nipping at the heels of the current Big 10 leader in Michigan State.

18. Cincinnati Bearcats

Considering what the Bearcats have already accomplished this season on offense (80.8 PPG) and defense (60 PAPG), you would think this program would be one of the few unbeaten teams in the country. Trouble is, the Bearcats have been unable to put it all together against the elite opposition (struggled defensively in a loss to Xavier, struggled offensively in a loss to Florida). Nevertheless, the Bearcats are currently first in the American Conference and can easily re-establish their two-way potential against Memphis this week.

19. Tennessee Volunteers

While the once forgettable SEC conference has been on the rise this year, the Tennessee Volunteers are currently a middle of the pack program that has the potential to be a potent offensive force. Although the Volunteers could probably get by on their stingy defense alone (65.8 PAPG), they clearly have the ball movement skills (18 APG) and personnel to be an efficient scoring program.

20. Baylor Bears

Since losing back-to-back contests to Xavier and Wichita State, the defensively strong Bears have yet to be tested in any meaningful way. With that being said, the intriguing Bears have done what is usually expected but rarely praised: they have handily defeated cupcake opponents on their schedule. In order for Baylor to take the next crucial step to gain recognition in the loaded Big 12, they will need to take down a Texas Tech program that has quickly evolved into one of the most dynamically consistent teams in the country.

21. Creighton Blue Jays

Although the Blue Jays will never be an elite defensive program, they at least know how to utilize their impressive strengths on offense (92.3 PPG, 20 APG). While the Blue Jays being heavily reliant on their prolific shooters will undoubtedly cost them some close games here and there, every athlete on their roster can make shots consistently enough to make the most out of their possessions (every player for the Blue Jays is currently shooting 41% or better from the field).

22. Gonzaga Bulldogs

Similar to the waffling Pirates, the Bulldogs are an incredibly competitive program that is trying to overcome its glaring deficiencies with talent alone. While point guard Josh Perkins has been terrific as a ball facilitator (5.2 APG) and all-around shooter (46 FG%, 47.6 3P%), he has had his fair share of issues with keeping the basketball out of the opponents hands (averaging three turnovers per game). Although the Bulldogs have other issues to address as well, their inconsistencies start and end with their floor general being just a bit too reckless on the court.

23. Texas Tech Red Raiders

An oppressive defensive program by nature, the red-hot Red Raiders have established a nearly equally intimidating presence on offense (81.7 PPG). Granted, the Red Raiders have not played a reputable opponent since defeating Nevada on December 5th. However, if the Red Raiders can confidently display their dynamically dominant ways against Baylor this week, this program will quickly ascend through what appears to be a highly competitive Big 12 conference.

24. Seton Hall Pirates

Clearly, the Pirates are plenty talented enough to hang with the top-25 competition when everything is going right for them (wins over Texas Tech and Louisville). The problem with this fun albeit inconsistent program is their inability to defend when their offense is experiencing a scoring lapse. Before the Pirates can hope to rectify their wonky fundamentals, their starters need to set a better example by being more disciplined when it comes to securing and possessing the ball (four of the Pirates five starters are currently averaging two turnovers or more per game).

25. Florida State Seminoles

Currently one of the more dynamically efficient teams in college basketball, the surging Seminoles have looked fantastic when closing out games down the stretch this year. With that said, the Seminoles non-conference schedule was noticeably weak as their two notable matchups thus far have been a win against Florida (now unranked) and a gritty loss to Oklahoma State. Still, the Seminoles will have a tremendous opportunity to prove their dominant versatility is for real as they start their conference schedule with contests against Duke, North Carolina, and Miami.

NFL Black Monday 2017: Which Head Coaches Will Be Gone After Week 17?

0
0

As we head into week 16 of the NFL, there are exactly ten days until the infamous “Black Monday” where the majority of the annual head coach firings take place. Unfortunately for these head coaches, this unfortunate holiday lands on New Years’ Day in 2018. Most of these five coaches are probably aware of their future at this point. Let’s take a look at who is most likely to get the axe this offseason.

1. The Hottest of Seats: John Fox, Chicago Bears (12-32)

Fox is essentially a guarantee to be out after this year. His influence has been on a steady decline in Chicago since the team’s management decided to trade up to draft quarterback Mitchell Trubisky without any say from Fox. After three dreadful seasons, Fox currently has the worst winning percentage in the team’s history at .273. The Bears must act now or risk jeopardizing the career of their new quarterback.

2. Hue Jackson, Cleveland Browns (1-27)

Instagram Photo

On the verge of recording the second winless season in NFL history (2008 Detroit Lions) and finishing his Brown head coaching tenure with a record of 1-29, I don’t think I need to expand on much here. John Fox is ranked higher because the Bears are used to winning and unfortunately for the Browns, it’s going to be tough to recruit a good head coach to turn around the worst franchise by far in pro football. There are some bright spots on the team in receiver Josh Gordon and young quarterback DeShone Kizer. God speed to them…

3. Dirk Koetter, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (13-15)

Instagram Photo

Two years ago, Koetter was promoted to head coach from offensive coordinator mainly to continue developing a young Jameis Winston into one of the league’s upcoming elite quarterbacks. While Winston has shown sparks at times, overall he currently holds a touchdown to interception ratio of 12-6. Even if you give Koetter the benefit of the doubt of Jameis not playing for a few games due to injury this year, this team is still vastly underperforming after a promising 2016 campaign and offseason additions including all-pro receiver DeSean Jackson.

4. Chuck Pagano, Indianapolis Colts (52-39)

Sunday’s 20 point loss in Jacksonville ensured the Colts will finish with its first losing record under Pagano. A lack of player development on top of coming up short in multiple close games this season will likely cost him a chance for redemption in Indy. Given the huge question mark that is quarterback Andrew Luck’s future, it may be best for the franchise to start with a clean slate heading into the offseason.

5. Vance Joseph, Denver Broncos (3-9)

Instagram Photo

After starting his first head coaching job 3-1, the Broncos lost eight straight. In his defense, Denver has one of the most unstable quarterback situations in the league with Trevor Siemen, Brock Osweiler and Paxton Lynch. The home attendance has taken a massive hit the past few games, but personally I think he may get another chance next season.

Are Banks Or Stores Open On New Years Eve / Day 2018?

With the holiday season coming to a close, we’re all probably ready to take a nice break from life and hibernate in January, right? Right. By now, college football fans and pundits alike have unabashedly gorged themselves on a plethora of wild and engaging bowl games. However, all of those obscurely named affairs were just a series of tasty appetizers that assisted in getting everyone amped up for the highly anticipated New Years Six Bowls affairs. As it pertains to the Fiesta Bowl, college football fanatics can expect an intriguing blend of smash-mouth defenses and prolific offenses that should make this particular contest a thrilling and engaging affair. While both Washington and Penn State may not have obtained a coveted spot in the College Football Playoff, both programs still have a grand opportunity to prove that their recent ascendence in becoming one of the elite powerhouses in college football was not simply a one-hit wonder moment.

Washington Huskies (11) vs. Penn State Nittany Lions (9)

Time: Saturday, 4:00 PM E.T.
Location: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
TV Channel: ESPN

Although there may be some fans that enjoy either a defensive grudge match or a high-octane shootout, the best contests are the ones that present two well-balanced programs that have to utilize everything in their versatile arsenal to procure a much-desired victory. While Huskies quarterback Jake Browning has not been nearly as prolific this year as he was just a year ago (43 touchdowns last year, 18 touchdowns this year), he has actually been far more accurate and disciplined when it comes to locating his receivers (62.1 CMP% last year, 68.8 CMP% this year). Unlike Browning, running back Myles Gaskin has become a much more vital offensive weapon as both a rusher (10 rushing touchdowns last year, 19 rushing touchdowns this year) and as a reliable receiver (228 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns this year). For the Nittany Lions, quarterback Trace McSorley has been a consummate competitor as his exceptional mobility (11 rushing touchdowns) and passing skill sets (3228 passing yards, 65.3 CMP%) have baffled defenses continuously this year. Of course, it’s impossible to mention the Nittany Lions without discussing the versatile capabilities of star running back Saquon Barkley. Scoring 19 total touchdowns during the regular season, Barkley emphatically proved on a consistent basis that he was a serious threat as a rusher, pass catcher and returner on special teams. On top of what both of these programs are capable of on offense, they also possess two of the best defenses in the country, a crucial aspect that will come into play as this intense affair progresses. When all is said and done, the Nittany Lions have a slight advantage as their dynamic quarterback and running back will be able to make enough big plays down the stretch to win what should be a highly-competitive and hard-fought contest.

Final Score: Huskies 29 Nittany Lions 32 Spread: Nittany Lions -2.0

Sports Predictions For 2018: Top 5 Must-See Predictions

0
0

The year 2017 had a lot to offer us in the sports world. From the greatest comeback in Superbowl history, To Russel Westbrook averaging triple-double for a full NBA season, to an action packed seven game World Series, 2017 defiantly did not fail us when it came to surprises and outstanding performances in the world of sports. But what does sports have in store for us in 2018? It’s very tough to predict what will be the outcome of an NBA, MLB, or NFL season, or what things will transpire throughout the season, but to make predictions for numerous sports over the course of one full calendar year? its gotta be next to impossible. Well, I am going to give five of my bold sports predictions for 2018 anyway, will these thing happen that I am about to predict? good chance they will not, but as the famous Wayne Gretzky once said “You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take”.

With that, lets get started with these bold predictions.

The Houston Rockets will meet The Warriors in the Western Conference Final, But Houston will lose in seven games.

Instagram Photo

The Houston Rockets this season pretty much have had little to no competition when playing against other teams this season. Houston currently sits at 25-5 in the NBA standings, which is currently the best record in the NBA. Aside from only losing fie of their first thirty games, The Rockets also are an astonishing 14-1 when James Harden and Chris Paul play together. The Rockets also are leading the NBA in three pointers made this season with 479 so far this year, the second place team in this category only has 412. For anyone that watches basketball you know it is next to impossible to take down Stephen Curry and his squad from Oakland, but if there is any way to beat them, it is to OUTSHOOT them, and if there is any team that can outshout the Warriors, its the Houston Rockets. For every three Steph, Durant, and Klay hit, Harden, CP3, and Eric Gordon have shown that they can match them from behind the three point line. In a seven game series between these two teams it will be nothing short of an three point palooza, and I believe the Rockets will be able to match Golden State from behind the arc every step of the way. But at the end of the day Golden State has more star power then Houston does, which is what I believe will put them over the top and send them once again back to the NBA finals.

Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge will both hit 60 home runs for the Yankees. That’s Right, 60.

Instagram Photo

The New York Yankees are now the favorite to win it all in 2018 with the acquisition of this years NL MVP from the Marlins, Mr. Giancarlo Stanton. There in no question that baseballs will be flying out of Yankee Stadium this coming year, and I believe 120 of them will be coming from just two players.  Last season Aaron Judge hit 52 bombs in his rookie year, yes his rookie year!! I am assuming Judge will come back better then last season, more prepared, and he will have a better understanding of the MLB and the pitchers that play in the league. I believe the experience he gained from his rookie year will help him hit 60 home runs, and who knows if it will even stop there. Stanton is coming of the greatest home run season anyone has ever had since the Barry Bonds days, and he did it in Marlins Park, a stadium that is notorious for giving hitters a real tough time to hit bombs because the field is so large. Last season Stanton hit 59 homers while playing half the games on the schedule at a park that is a pitchers paradise, freeking 59 homers!! Stanton only needed to one more homer to get to 60 anyway at one of the MLB’s largest fields, and now he will be playing half his games at the notoriously small Yankee Stadium where it seems like if you hit the ball in the air, it will land 10 rows up in the stands. Since Giancarlo will now be playing  in an MLB bean-box, 60 home runs should be a piece of cake for him if he stays healthy all season, and he could possibly get to 70 with his ability.

If the Eagles and Cowboys meet in the NFL postseason, The Cowboys will beat them.

Instagram Photo

The Philadelphia Eagles currently hold the NFL’s best record at 12-2, while Dallas is only 8-6 and are not even garenteed a spot in the NFL postseason yet. The Eagles have dominated week in and week out, making it a regular occurrence to put up 30 plus points on the scoreboard every Sunday, which is a pretty good formula if you want to win the football game. Philadelphia is currently third in the NFL in total yards and yards per game, only trialing offensive juggernauts New Orleans and Tom Brady’s Patriots. Dallas after winning the NFC East last season has proven to be inconsistent leading to questions about weather they are s good as they showed last year. So how will the struggling Cowboys be able to take down the NFL leading Eagles in a playoff game? Well with Phili’s young stud QB Carson Wentz now done for the season the Eagles offense will not be as deadly as it was pre Wentz Injury. The starting QB for the Eagles now is Nick Foles, although he is capable at holding his own on the field, he is defiantly no Carson Wentz. With the injury to Wentz, Dallas having playoff experience from last season, and Dallas also owning a real good young quarterback in Dak Prescott, look for the Cowboys to shock the NFL and take down the Eagles in a possible playoff match-up.

The Two Time defending Stanley Cup Champion Pittsburgh Penguins will not make it past the first round of the 2018 NHL playoffs.

Instagram Photo

The Penguins have been one of the best teams in the NHL over the last decade or so, winning three championships over the last nine NHL seasons. This year the Pengiuns aren’t necessarily playing poorly, its just that the teams in Pittsburgh’s division have substantially improved. The NHL’s Metropolitan Division is jammed packed this season with teams that could potentially win the Stanley Cup or make a deep playoff run for the trophy, such as the New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals, Columbus Blue Jackets, New York Rangers, and New York Islanders. In years past the only teams of these four that really posed a legitimate threat to the Penguins were the Capitals and Rangers, who both have constantly been in the playoffs over the last decade or so like the Pens. But this season the Capitals look like they might be better then they have in years past, they are tied for first place in the Metro Division (which is by the way hockey’s best division) lead by Mr. Ovechkin who just can’t stop scoring. Columbus was a playoff team last season, but this year they look like they have taken the next step to become an elite team that could have chance at capturing to the Cup. The Rangers continue to be a real solid team and will probably also capture a playoff spot. The Islanders missed the postseason last year, but this year have made significant improvements. The Isles own the second highest scoring offense in the NHL and almost never lose at home (and the rest of their regular season schedule is quite home heavy). Oh Yea, and who could forget the Devils, THE TIED FOR FIRST PLACE DEVILS!! A team that was expected to be one of the NHL’s cellar dwellers this year is tied for the division lead in hockey’s best division, and they have shown no signs of slowing down. With the Metropolitan Division full of so much talent this year, the Penguins are going to have a much harder time getting to the top of the mountain then they did last year or the year before. I believe they will make the playoffs, but then they will probably run into a real good Washington or Columbus team in the first round, which have a real legitimate shot at taking down the defending Stanley Cup Champions in the 2018 postseason.

LeBron James Stays in Cleveland.

Instagram Photo

As we all know Lebron James will once again have the ability “to take his talents” to another city this coming off-season when his current contract with the Cavaliers is up. Lebron James is still widely regarded as the best player currently in the NBA and is right now the favorite to win the NBA’s MVP award. There have been rumors over the last year or so that Lebron is going to leave Northeast Ohio once again for a big city with the limelight, and this time most people are expecting that he will go out west to LA. There have been numerous rumors that LBJ wants to go to the Lakers and play for the legendary franchise in America’s second largest city. But would he leave Cleveland for LA strictly so he can perform at a high level in a bigger city? If Lebron goes to the Lakers he will defiantly take them from being one of the West’s worst teams to one of the West’s best, but they FORSURE will not have enough talent to take down the star-studded Warriors or even the Rockets or Spurs. Would Lebron go to LA just to possibly not even make the conference final? Does he really not care about winning anymore? If he goes to LA to finish out his last few years as a Superstar, there in an almost 100 percent chance that he will never win a title again as an elite player, because the Lakers just wont have enough star-power around Lebron to defeat a superstar Warrior’s team. By staying in Cleveland he will solidify the notion that he is forever an Ohio boy, and because of that the people of Ohio will love him unconditionally for the rest of his life. Oh and by the way not to forget, Lebron just has a straight up better chance at WINNING by staying with the Cavs. Cleveland has a much better supporting cast then the Lakers, and the Eastern Conference is not as strong as the West (although the east is looking better then it has in years past) making Lebron’s march to the finals substantially easier then it would be if we went to the west coast. By staying in Cleveland Lebron gets eternal love from every individual in Ohio, plus a much better opportunity to win more rings. If he goes to play in LA he will have virtually no chance at making the finals and he will once again put his loyalty trowed the people of Northeast Ohio into question, and some Cavs fans might even burn his jersey once again. The opportunity is for LBJ to become greater then he already is resides in “The Land” A.K.A. Cleveland, Ohio. If he stays, he is more then likely to also get a storybook ending to his legendary career by finishing out in his hometown that loves him so much. I believe Lebron will realize these circumstances and stay in Ohio after this NBA season.

Duke vs. Northern Illinois Live Stream: How to Watch Quick Lane Bowl Online

In the second set of weekday bowl games, there is a game between two average team. These teams are the Duke Blue Devils and the Northern Illinois Huskies. Both teams had average expectations this season and managed to fulfill those expectations by reaching a bowl game. Both teams won at least six games and will now look to add a bowl victory to successfully end their seasons.

Duke’s success is due to its balance on the offensive side of the ball. At the helm is sophomore quarterback Daniel Jones who has 18 total touchdowns and over 2,400 passing yards. However, Jones’ job this season has been made easier due to running backs Shaun Wilson and Brittain Brown. Both running backs averaged at least five yards per carry while rushing for at least 660 yards. Both running backs have also run for five or more touchdowns this season. Expect Duke to rely heavily on its running game in this contest due to Jones’ interception problems. In 12 games this season, Jones threw 11 interceptions. One can assume that the Blue Devils will try to use its running game to make third downs more manageable for Jones in this contest.

Northern Illinois’ success was primarily due to its freshman quarterback Marcus Childers. This season, Childers threw for 15 touchdowns and over 1,400 passing yards. However, Childers also was a threat running the football and ran for over 450 yards along with five rushing touchdowns. Assisting Childers is senior running back Jordan Huff. This season, Huff ran for 740 yards and had four rushing touchdowns. With Childers starting in his first bowl game, expect the Huskies to rely more on Huff to make life easier for their freshman quarterback.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Duke. Although Northern Illinois won two more regular season games than Duke, Duke’s schedule was significantly harder. I expect Childers to struggle due to his lack of bowl game experience as Duke’s defense puts the clamps down on the Huskies’ offense. I expect a low scoring game in which Duke wins by a touchdown or so.

WWE SmackDown Live Stream: How To Watch SmackDown Online – 12/26/17

What will happen in the last episode of WWE SmackDown Live for 2017? Maybe we’ll find out who challenges AJ Styles for the WWE Championship at Royal Rumble. The blue brand will need to find a way to top Raw‘s triple threat Universal Championship match at the event. But how? I’ve come up with three options to best the red brand’s triple threat encounter at the Rumble. One is a fatal 4-way match between AJ Styles, Jinder Mahal, Randy Orton, and Shinsuke Nakamura. The other option is for WWE to capitalize on the ‘Yep Movement’ and create a triple threat match involving Styles, Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn. Or we’ll finally get to see Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles for the WWE Championship (the most boring of the three choices).

It appears as if Dolph Ziggler may have walked away from the WWE for good last week as he left the WWE United States Championship alone in the ring. Ziggler doesn’t think that the crowd deserves to see him compete. His character is so frustrated that he doesn’t even care about pleasing the fans anymore (obviously). He might not even care about championships at this point as he left his title lying alone in the center of the ring last week. Dolph might be off TV for a while as this storyline develops (probably a few weeks to further the story). Does this mean that the WWE U.S. Championship has been vacated? And if so, who will compete to earn Ziggler’s strap? You might find out in the last episode of WWE SmackDown Live before the new year.

What is next in the saga between Kevin Owens, Sami Zayn, Shane McMahon, and Daniel Bryan? Rumors have been spreading like wildfire about Bryan’s return to the ring. The SmackDown General Manager has already made it publicly known that he’s trying to get cleared for a return to active competition in the WWE. You’ll find out the next step in this burgeoning storyline tonight.

By the way, the first hour of SmackDown Live is completely commercial free!

UCLA vs. Kansas State Live Stream: How to Watch Cactus Bowl Online

0
0

In the second set of weekday bowl games, there is a game between two average team. These teams are the UCLA Bruins and the Kansas State Wildcats. Both teams had above average expectations this season but failed to fulfill those expectations despite qualifying for a bowl game. Now, both teams will want to add a bowl victory to their resumes so they can potentially redeem their seasons.

UCLA’s success is due to star quarterback Josh Rosen. So far this season, Rosen threw for 26 touchdowns and only ten interceptions along with over 3,700 yards passing in just 11 games. Due to his performance in college, Rosen will be a lock to be selected in the top five picks of the 2018 NFL Draft. However, Rosen is unlikely to play in this bowl game due to a concussion. Replacing him is freshman quarterback Devon Modster who threw for two touchdowns and zero interceptions in limited action. Due to Modster’s lack of experience, expect UCLA to rely heavily on its running game in this contest.

Kansas State’s success was primarily due to its strong quarterback play. However, the Wildcats have started a number of quarterbacks this season due to injuries and inconsistent play. Jesse Ertz was the starter for the team’s first five games before injuring his knee. Replacing him was Alex Delton who started the next four games before he also injured his knee. Replacing Delton was freshman quarterback Skylar Thompson who threw for five touchdowns and over 660 passing yards in just three starts. Thompson is the projected starter for the bowl game and one has to wonder if the once third-string quarterback is up to the challenge.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Kansas State. Both teams will most likely be starting freshman quarterbacks for this bowl game which is less than ideal. However, Kansas State’s defense is significantly better than UCLA’s and should be able to generate decent pressure on Modster. I expect both offenses to look extremely sloppy but I think that Kansas State does enough to win by a field goal or so.

Week 8, College Basketball Picks 2017: Spread & Predictions

Gonzaga vs. WVU Betting Odds & Predictions

(Photo by Justin K. Aller/Getty Images)

With the Christmas season officially in the rearview mirror, college basketball can finally progress to the best and most important time of the season: conference play. While some programs strengthened their reputations during the non-conference portion of their schedules, there was an equal number of teams that were the beneficiaries of cupcake schedules for the first two months of the season. Now, the overachieving pretenders will have nowhere to hide as the stakes become much more elevated and the sense of urgency to win consistently is now higher than ever. Can the likes of Duke and Villanova still hold their tenuous places in the rankings or can Arizona State and Xavier become the new elite programs of this beloved sport? Let’s find out.

Xavier Musketeers (6) vs. Marquette Golden Eagles

During the early days of the season, it was easy to take for granted what programs such as Arizona and Florida were doing from an offensive perspective. However, both programs have experienced lulls in terms of success because they were too reliant on their respective offenses to carry them to victory. Unlike those two programs, the Musketeers have maintained their exceptional scoring ways (86.9 PPG) while steadily improving as a fundamentally sound defensive unit (68.8 PAPG). While the Golden Eagles have a fairly potent offense themselves (83 PPG), their defense has been wildly inconsistent (during their four-game winning streak, the Golden Eagles have allowed point totals as low as 51 and as high as 81). Combined with a less than impressive rebounding presence (31.9 RPG), the Golden Eagles simply do not have the requisite skill sets needed to garner and take away possessions from a Musketeers program that can score quickly and effectively.

Final Score: Musketeers 87 Golden Eagles 79 Spread:

Creighton Blue Jays (25) vs. Seton Hall Pirates (23)

There is a cliche saying out there that states “fake it until you make it”. As it pertains to the offensively potent Blue Jays, they have successfully held four out of their last five opponents 65 points or less. However, Creighton is still allowing 71.6 points per game, a stat that is indicative of a capable although usually inconsistent defense. Still, the Blue Jays are one of the few programs that have played to their strengths consistently and have stayed relevant in the top-heavy Big East Conference as a result. Conversely, the identity of the Pirates has wavered from a stingy defensive team to a deadly offensive team and everywhere in between. Despite this glaring plight, Seton Hall has lost just twice this season and they have actually looked a little less shaky on both offense and defense in their recent wins. Although the Pirates have the potential to be one of better teams in the Big East, they still need to prove that their defense can at least minimize the damage ranked opponents can to do them on a consistent basis.

Final Score: Blue Jays 79 Pirates 75 Spread:

Louisville Cardinals vs. Kentucky Wildcats (16)

Despite the loss of their head coach and several incoming freshmen before the start of the season, the tough-minded Cardinals are still confident they can be competitive in the ACC with an impressive record of 10-2. Although the offense of the Cardinals has wavered in terms of consistency this season, their overall team defense has actually been above average as they are currently allowing just 64.6 points per game to their opponents. For the Wildcats, the issue has been less about talent and more about acclimating their young freshmen to the high-pressure situations of college basketball. Although the Wildcats are a deadly offensive team (80.7 PPG), their wavering effort on the defensive side of the court cost them what should have been a win at home against UCLA. While both programs are suffering from serious growing pains of different varieties, the Wildcats at least have a veteran coach that is well-known for righting the ship after a tough loss.

Final Score: Cardinals 80 Wildcats 85 Spread:

West Virginia Mountaineers (7) vs. Oklahoma State Cowboys

Although the surging Mountaineers will most likely be unable to sustain their current explosion on offense (84.8 PPG) and their physicality on defense (63.4 PAPG) once Big 12 play commences, they clearly have the pieces and coaching needed to make a serious run at a conference title. As long as Jevon Carter can continue to be the Mountaineers two-way star as the season progresses, West Virginia should be able to follow their fearless leader into one contentious contest after another (18.2 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 6,3 APG, 3.7 SPG). While Oklahoma State may not have an offense as prolific as that of West Virginia, the Cowboys actually have a formidable defense (65.7 PAPG) led by Mitchell Solomon (6.7 RPG, 1.2 BPG). Without question, this will be a measuring stick contest for both programs and will be one of many crucial conference matchups that will usher in the second half of the season. However, the Mountaineers have proven versatility and the athletic players needed to overcome the stingy defense of the Cowboys.

Final Score: Mountaineers 81 Cowboys 72 Spread:

Baylor Bears (18) vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders (22)

Currently, the Big 12 is rightfully considered the best conference in college basketball as they currently have four teams ranked in the top twelve. However, with conference play upcoming, many of those competitive programs will come back down to earth and this particular contest will potentially result in the loser falling out of the top-25. For the Bears, the name of the game is being tenacious rebounders (40 RPG) while getting the basketball into the hands of their cerebral playmakers on offense (83 PPG, 19 APG). Unfortunately for the Bears, this strategy will need to be executed to near perfection if they hope to overcome the unforgiving defense of the Red Raiders (58.7 PAPG). Averaging 10 steals per game, Texas Tech has a plethora of opportunistic defenders. With Zhaire Smith being the Red Raiders consummate defensive playmaker (1.1 SPG, 1.1 BPG), the Bears will have a difficult time at finding a comfortable rhythm offensively on the road.

Final Score: Bears 74 Red Raiders 82 Spread:

Florida State Seminoles (24) vs. Duke Blue Devils (4)

With six teams having at least 11 wins or more in the ACC, it goes without saying that when any two teams from the aforementioned conference go head to head that the contest will almost always be wildly entertaining. With an offense that has clicked well so far this season (85 PPG), the Seminoles have made a living at giving themselves extra opportunities via their star rebounders (40 RPG). However, the rising Seminoles have not faced one of the best offensive teams in the country in the Duke Blue Devils (94.2 PPG, 20.8 APG). Essentially, Duke can dismantle their given opponent either with the help of their gifted shooter in Grayson Allen (17.1 PPG) and/or via their off the charts defensive player and rebounder in Marvin Bagley III (10.9 RPG, 1 BPG). Although the Seminoles have had their way with the Blue Devils in recent contests, Duke now has the talent and depth to take it to the confident Seminoles on both offense and defense.

Final Score: Seminoles 78 Blue Devils 89 Spread:

Boston College Eagles vs. Virginia Cavaliers (9)

After starting the season with a record of 5-3, the Eagles have rattled off five wins in a row, the most notable of which was an impressive offensive showing against the Blue Devils at home. With four of their five starters averaging double-digit points per game, the Eagles have the coveted balance and requisite playmakers to persevere valiantly against their opponents. Although the Cavaliers have struggled mightily on offense, their defense has been the most effective in college basketball as they have not allowed an opponent to score 70 points or more this season. While the Eagles are more well-balanced and are capable of scoring in bunches, the crushing defense of the Cavaliers has proven difficult to overcome. Short of another Herculean effort on offense for Boston College, the Cavaliers will once again minimize and take away crucial possessions en route to a gritty defensive victory.

Final Score: Eagles 63 Cavaliers 71 Spread:

Oklahoma Sooners (12) vs. TCU (10)

Despite allowing a less than impressive 79.1 points per game this season, the typically offensive adept Sooners are actually fairly opportunistic when it comes to snatching the ball away from the opposition (8.0 SPG). Of course, the Sooner’s main source of inspiration and overall production comes from arguably the most confident and capable two-way player in the country in Trae Young (28.7 PPG, 10.4 APG). With that being said, the still underrated Horned Frogs boast an impressive offense themselves (87.5 PPG). While TCU may not have a one-man show like the Sooners possess in Young, their team as a whole is impressively well-balanced as all five of their starters are currently averaging double-digit points per game and four of their five starters are averaging four rebounds or more per game this season. Even though the Sooners offense has been practically unstoppable this season, the Horned Frogs have the coveted depth and skilled rebounders needed to overcome a team that is heavily reliant on scoring in the mid to high 80’s to win consistently.

Final Score: Sooners 78 Horned Frogs 86 Spread:

Villanova Wildcats (1) vs. Butler Bulldogs

While being one of the few undefeated programs in college basketball would be enough reason for most programs to lay off the gas pedal, the Wildcats have firmly pushed it through the floorboard and are running wild on both offense and defense. Over their last five games, the ferocious Wildcats have scored less than 87 points only once and have stifled their opponents to 72 points or less in those affairs. Although the Bulldogs are by no means a pushover program, their streaky shooting tendencies in conjunction with some nagging turnover habits have cost them a few winnable games. (their two most prominent starters are averaging two turnovers per game). Even if the Bulldogs defense plays to the heightened level that they are capable of, they simply lack the overall talent and consistency needed to topple the best team in the country.

Final Score: Wildcats 86 Bulldogs 73 Spread:

Arizona State Sun Devils (3) vs. Arizona Wildcats (17)

Traditionally, the Sun Devils have usually been considered a football-centric institution while the Wildcats have almost always had an elite basketball program. However, this season has seen the unexpected occur as Arizona State has quickly emerged as an elite, undefeated offensive powerhouse (91.8 PPG). Although the Wildcats appear to have turned their once dire situation around, they have yet to match the production that the Sun Devils have brought to each and every one of their games. If the Wildcats had a competent defense to rely on, they would have a fair chance of pulling off the upset at home.  As it stands now, the firepower of the Sun Devils is clearly superior and will allow them to pull off an impressive road victory against their hated rivals.

Final Score: Sun Devils 91 Wildcats 88 Spread:

In the second set of weekday bowl games, there is a game between two average team. These teams are the Florida State Seminoles and the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. Both teams had above average expectations this season but only one of those teams managed to deliver. The Golden Eagles managed to win eight games this season when they were only projected to win seven according to Vegas sportsbooks back in July. Meanwhile, Florida State only managed to win six games when they were projected to win around ten games according to Vegas sportsbooks back in July. Now, both teams will look to improve their resumes by winning this bowl game.

Florida State’s success is due to its elite running game. Entering this season, Florida State was expected to be led by quarterback Deondre Francois. However, Francois suffered a serious knee injury in the first game of the season which has caused him to miss the other 11 games. Replacing him was freshman James Blackmon who threw for 1,997 passing yards and 15 passing touchdowns. However, Blackmon has struggled a lot in his first season and has thrown 11 interceptions in as many games. As a result, Florida State started to depend heavily on its running backs Cam Akers and Jacques Patrick. Both running backs have over 650 rushing yards and at least six rushing touchdowns. If Florida State plans on winning this contest, expect the Seminoles to rely heavily on its running game.

Southern Mississippi’s success was primarily due to its quarterback Kwandra Griggs. In nine games this season, Griggs has thrown for 1,793 passing yards and 15 passing touchdowns with only two interceptions. Griggs has also run for over 230 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. However, Griggs’ job this season has been made easier by running back Ito Smith. This season, Smith has 1,321 rushing yards and 13 rushing touchdowns. Expect Smith to get the ball frequently in this contest to set up some deep play action plays in the passing game.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Florida State. Despite Florida State’s poor season, there is a reason why there are favored by over two touchdowns in this contest. The Seminoles have a much more talented roster and I expect it to show on Wednesday. Florida State has a new head coach in this contest which could cause some issues, but I think that Akers and Patrick will be too much for the Golden Eagles to handle. I think the Seminoles will win by two touchdowns or so.

2017 has been a huge year for sports all around. We had the Astros win the World Series, against the odds, after a devastating hurricane in their hometown, the Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather face-off, the Pittsburgh Penguins win the Stanley Cup and so much more.

While sports had some amazing moments this year, this year was one of the most controversial in the sports industry as well. We saw many sports teams taking a stand for what they believed in, even if that meant going against the popular belief.

Everyone remembers when Colin Kaepernick started what would end up to be one of the largest protests the NFL has ever seen when he decided to kneel for the singing of the National Anthem. The New England Patriots also decided to refuse the traditional visit to the White House when they were invited.

Regardless of all the controversy, 2017 has been a huge year for sports. Let’s take a look back at some of the greatest sports moments of 2017.

1. The Houston Astros winning the 2017 World Series

The 2017 World Series came down to the final game, where we got to watch the Astros earn their second pennant in team history. Houston wasn’t favored to win, making the outcome that much better for the team and their fans. Most fans can agree that the team deserved the win after the teams hometown was struck by a massive hurricane.

2. Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather Jr.

This fight was one of the most hyped up sports events in 2017. The two traveled to Vegas to face-off in one of the biggest fights in sports history. Although Mayweather defeated McGregor by TKO and remains undefeated, McGregor put up a good fight.

3. Pittsburgh Penguins win the 2017 Stanley Cup

On Sept. 9, Sloane Stephens, of the United States, won the women’s single final of the U.S. Open tennis tournament. Stephens beat Madison Keys, also of the United States, to win the championship.

5. Garbine Muguruza beats Venus Williams in the Wimbledon Tennis Championship

On July 15, Spain’s Garbine Muguruza beat Venus Williams, of the United States, in the Wimbledon Tennis Championship in London. The two faced off on day 12 of the championship, leaving Muguruza with a huge win for herself and her country
