In the fifth weekday bowl game of the season, there is a contest between two decent teams. These teams are the Central Michigan Chippewas and the Wyoming Cowboys. Both teams started the season with average expectations and both teams have reached exceed those expectations by qualifying for a bowl game. Both teams managed to win at least seven games and will look to add a bowl game victory to their season’s resume.

Central Michigan’s success is due to senior quarterback Shane Morris. This season, Morris threw for 26 touchdowns along with over 2,900 yards and 13 interceptions. Morris has also run for three touchdowns this season and can use his legs when necessary to pick up vital yardage. However, Morris’ job was made easier by running back Jonathan Ward. This season, Ward ran for 988 yards along with nine rushing touhdowns. Ward also averaged 5.9 yards per carry and will need to pick up a solid amount of yards on the earlier downs to set up huge openings in the passing game. If Ward performs up to par, Morris should have lots of open windows in the passing game to exploit.

Wyoming’s success is primarily due to quarterback Josh Allen. In only ten games this season, Allen threw for over 1,600 yards and had 13 passing touchdowns along with six interceptions. Entering the season, Allen was considered to be a top quarterback prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft. Although Allen is still projected to go in the first round, his season was rather disappointing and it might have cost him a lot of money in terms of rookie contract salaries. However, Allen still has a lot of talent and can easily carry his team to a victory when presented the opportunity.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Wyoming. Although Central Michigan has a more balanced offense, I think that Wyoming will be fired up to have its star quarterback back. I expect Allen to put on a show and to prove once again why he should be high on each NFL team’s radar. I will take Wyoming by a field goal.

At face value, this video should actually be pretty dope. In a vacuum, it’s Sofia Richie, the 19-year-old model, dancing in her underwear. Not that bad … in a vacuum. Once you add the context — that Richie, is dancing for 34-year-old Scott Disick, while a song that was written by her FATHER, “All Night Long”, plays in the background — it becomes some Eyes Wide Shut type-shit.

New Jersey police have arrested a school bus driver that was drunk when he was involved in a road rage incident with about 20 students on board his vehicle.

According to Lakewood, New Jersey police, 54-year-old Angel Colon was intoxicated when authorities responded to the scene on the morning of Wednesday, December 20.

Lakewood Police were called to the area of Chestnut Street and Vermont Avenue about the alarming incident that involved the vehicle Colon was operating and another. Officers Christopher DiBiase and Ralph Hatt came to assist Daniel Brooks when Hatt said he smelled alcohol on Colon’s breath.

Staffordsmith said Lakewood Police Officer Daniel Brooks radioed headquarters about 8:30 a.m. to report he was out with two vehicles that were involved in a road rage incident in the area of Chestnut Street and Vermont Avenue. One of the vehicles was the school bus driven by Colon, Staffordsmith said.

Jay’s Bus Service in Lakewood contracts with a number of area school districts for specific bus runs. Staffordsmith said it was not known which school district the students were from, or the age of the students.

Officers Ralph Hatt and Christopher DiBiase responded to assist Brooks and as Hatt was speaking with Colon, he smelled alcohol on the bus driver’s breath, Staffordsmith said. Colon was also described as having slurred speech and bloodshot eyes, he said.

Colon was arrested and charged with DWI and endangering the welfare of children. He was taken to the Ocean County Jail in Toms River, New Jersey. It is unclear whether he posted bail.

The bus company, Jay’s Bus service, declined comment on the matter and wouldn’t say if Colon was still employed.

Unless you’re living under a rock, you’ve probably heard of Freeform’s 25 Days of Christmas. In case you haven’t, let me break it down for you. Basically, it’s a magical time of year where Freeform shows nothing but Christmas movies and shows for 25 days leading up to Christmas. During these days you’ll find everything from holiday classics like The Year Without a Santa Claus, to more modern movies like Elf, and even some Freeform originals.

The 25 Days of Christmas is just one of the many platforms you can watch great holiday movies. There’s few things better than a soft blanket, the glow of a Christmas tree and a really great Christmas movie (especially when that movie is Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas.)

With that being said, here’s a list of eight Christmas movies that will just never get old, in no particular order. Grab a blanket, a snack and get ready for a movie marathon!

1. Elf (2003)

Will Ferrell shows his soft side in this role as Buddy the Elf. Although this movie isn’t exactly a classic Christmas tale, it appeals to nearly everyone. Girls who love Christmas movies, guys who love Will Ferrell and kids who love Santa and elves. Its hard to get tired of watching Buddy the Elf run around NYC wreaking Christmas havoc. Buddy said it best, the best way to spread Christmas cheer, is singing loud for all to hear.

2. Home Alone (1990)

After acting out the night before his family trip, Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, gets left behind for the holidays. That’s what his mom gets for making him sleep in the attic, right? Who doesn’t love to watch Kevin outsmart the robbers by playing a bunch of pranks on them to get them away from his house? This Christmas classic is guaranteed to make you laugh, while also making you appreciate your family this holiday season.

3. National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation (1989)

The Griswolds truly represent so many families during the holidays. While Clark Griswold, played by Chevy Chase, prepares for the holidays by making sure everything is perfectly in line, his cousin Eddie, played by Randy Quaid, shows up with a different idea. Watching Clark’s attempts to make the perfect Christmas for his family is the perfect holiday past time. Plus, it will give you a chance to make fun of your own dad, who fell off the roof once too.

4. A Christmas Story (1989)

This holiday classic, based off of the writings of Jean Shepherd, follows the holiday adventures of Ralphie Parker, played by Peter Billingsley. Ralphie spends most of his time trying to avoid a local bully, while dreaming of his perfect Christmas gift. Although Ralphie doesn’t always have it easy, watching him make it to Christmas day in one piece is heartwarming.

5. The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974)

This classic stop motion animated television special follows a discouraged Santa who feels like children don’t believe in him anymore. Mrs. Claus and Jingle and Jangle, the two cutest elves you’ll ever see, set out on a mission to make sure Santa knows he’s loved. This classic holiday tale will warm even Scrooge’s heart. Plus, it features two great dance numbers from the famous Heat Miser and Snow Miser, what’s better than that?

6. Dr. Seuss’ How The Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)

Jim Carrey shines in this live adaptation of the classic holiday film. If I have to tell you what the Grinch is about, you must be a Scrooge, but I’ll tell you anyway. The Grinch hates Christmas and all of the Who’s down in Whoville and decides to ruin Christmas, with the help of his dog, Max. However, the Grinch finds a hitch in his plans when he runs into the adorable Cindy Lou Who. Carrey sticks to the original Dr. Seuss tale while adding his comedic genius making this film a must-watch for everyone.

6. The Polar Express (2004)

This beloved Christmas tale, directed by Tom Hanks, follows a doubting young boy through an incredible train ride to the North Pole. The story focuses on the importance of believing in things you may not be able to see. It also stresses the importance of self-discovery and the wonder of life. I dare you to make it through The Polar Express without crying, seriously.

7. Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964)

Although everyone knows the story of Rudolph, this holiday classic has a way of bringing you back to your childhood Christmas days. This stop-animated holiday special follows Rudolph on his journey to becoming the #1 reindeer in the North Pole. This is a must-watch holiday movie for everyone.

8. A Christmas Carol (1938)

The story within A Christmas Carol has been recreated so many times that it’s hard to pick just one. There’s the original 1951 Christmas Carol, the Jim Carrey version, the Mickey Mouse version (a true classic), and tons of remakes in between. Whichever version you decide to watch, you won’t be disappointed. This holiday classic follows Ebenezer Scrooge as he is visited by three spirits, the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future, who try to transform Scrooge from his bitter ways.

Texas Tech’s success is due to senior quarterback Nic Shimonek. This season, Shimonek threw for 30 touchdowns along with over 3,500 yards and only eight interceptions. Shimonek spent last season as the backup to first-round NFL Draft pick Pat Mahomes but did show signs of excellence when he threw for six touchdowns and only one interception in limited snaps. Shimonek has tremendous arm strength which suits Texas Tech’s offense perfectly due to its desire to spread opposing teams out in the passing game. Expect Shimonek to perform extremely well against this average South Florida defense.

South Florida’s success is primarily due to quarterback Quinton Flowers. In only 11 games this season, Flowers threw for 2,600 yards and had 21 passing touchdowns along with only six interceptions. However, Flowers also had extremely impressive statistics in the running game as he ran for 972 yards and ten rushing touchdowns. Flowers is the heart and soul of South Florida’s offense and he will need to use his mobility early and often if the Bulls plan on winning this contest.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Texas Tech. Anytime a team with only six wins is matched up in a bowl game against a nine win team, one has to watch out for the six win team. Texas Tech has an explosive offense that should perform extremely well against the Bulls. Although Flowers is a great college quarterback, he only completed 53.4% of his passes this season which suggests that he has a tendency to be inaccurate. I will take Texas Tech in a shootout victory.

Holy freakin Title! this card features not 1 but 2 title fights! This card has the potential to be the best card of the year and its only the second one! The title fight between Daniel Cormier and Volkan Oezdemir will be epic. Daniel “DC” Cormier puts his Light Heavyweight Title on the line Saturday night, DC has a 19-1 career record meanwhile Volkan is 15-1. Watching those two titans duke it is going to be arguably one of the best fights all year, unless the other title fight in this card has anything to say about it. Francis “The Predator” Ngannou will face current Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic. Francis come sin with an 11-1 record and has finished in all 11 of his victories including a stunning knock out against Alistar Overeem. This card will be an absolute star studded event.

Brunson has grown a lot since that fight capturing victories against Lyoto Machida and Uriah Hall. Jacare comes in has the 5th ranked Middleweight and with a 24-5 record and will be looking to dominate Brunson once again.

Juventus vs Roma! I get goose bumps every time I hear it! The Serie A table is an absolute crap shoot with the top 4 teams only separated by 4 points. Juventus currently sits in 2nd place 1 point behind Napoli, meanwhile Roma sits just 3 points back of Juventus.

These teams already have what we’ll call a strong dislike towards each other, now throw in playoff implications! and we are in for an absolute classic! Roma is in luck that Juventus has had a tough stretch of games lately and will be dealing with some injuries coming into this one. Players like Gianluigi Buffon and Giorgio Chiellini will be missing. Those 2 names alone are enough to make you think Juventus is going to be in trouble. But never put a team down in a rivalry game, everyone plays with a little extra.

In the second weekend of bowl games, there is a contest between two overachieving team. These teams are the Army Black Knights and the San Diego State Aztecs. Both teams started the season with average expectations and no one expected either team to win at least nine games. Both teams managed to win nine or more games and will look to add a bowl game victory to their already impressive seasons.

Army’s success is due to senior quarterback Ahmad Bradshaw. Since Army runs a triple option scheme on offense, Bradshaw only attempted 40 passes all season. However, Bradshaw was an animal in the running game and was a huge reason why the Black Knights won nine games this season. In 12 games, Bradshaw ran for 1,566 yards and had 12 rushing touchdowns while averaging 7.5 yards per carry. Army’s offense starts and ends with its option running game and Bradshaw is its main weapon. If Army plans on winning this contest, Bradshaw will need to have another big game on the ground.

San Diego State’s success is primarily due to running back Rashaad Penny. In 12 games this season, Penny led all of college football with 2,027 rushing yards and he also had 19 rushing touchdowns. However, Penny also made serious contributions in the Aztecs’ receiving and return game. Penny had two receiving and kick return touchdowns this season which makes him a threat in all three phases of the game. Expect San Diego State to feed Penny the ball early and often as he attempts to carry the Aztecs to a bowl game victory.

As for my prediction, I have to side with San Diego State. Although Army has had a great season, its offense is extremely one dimensional. If San Diego State can stop Bradshaw and the triple option, then Army does not have the ability to win games through the air. Meanwhile, San Diego State has an elite running back who can score touchdowns in all three phases of the game. I expect Penny to have a great game as the Aztecs win by double digits.

The Armed Forces Bowl holds a matchup between two programs that combined for 19 wins this season. Army enters the game after beating Navy for the second year in a row to improve to 9-3 on the year. 10-2 San Diego State will be showcasing All-American running back Rashaad Penny and an exceptional run defense under coach Rocky Long. San Diego State is favored by 6.5 points. Live updates will follow:

3:44 PM Eastern Time: SDSU immediately strikes first with an 81-yard touchdown run by Penny.

3:53: Army attempts a 4th down conversion near the red zone and is stuffed by SDSU’s defense at the line of scrimmage. SDSU ball.

In the second weekend of bowl games, there is a rematch between two above average team. These teams are the Toledo Rockets and the Appalachian State Mountaineers. Both teams faced each other in the Camellia Bowl last season where the Mountaineers won 31-28. This season, the Rockets are seeking revenge and are looking add a bowl game trophy to add to its collection. As for Appalachian State, this team has already beaten Toledo and will attempt to duplicate its performance last year to win another bowl game.

Toledo’s success is due to senior quarterback Logan Woodside. This season, Woodside threw for over 3,700 passing yards and 28 touchdowns along with only five interceptions. Woodside’s success is due to his pinpoint accuracy in the passing game. This season, Woodside completed over 64 percent of his passes and will attempt to pick apart this quality Appalachian State defense. In last year’s bowl game, Woodside played well against the Mountaineers as he threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns. Expect Woodside to duplicate that impressive performance this Saturday.

Appalachian State’s success is primarily due to quarterback Taylor Lamb. In 12 games this season, Lamb threw for over 2,600 yards and 27 touchdowns along with only six interceptions. Lamb’s statistics are even more impressive once one factors in his contributions to the team’s running game. Lamb also had 539 rushing yards and five rushing touchdowns while averaging an impressive 7.7 yards per carry. In last year’s bowl game, Lamb torched Toledo on the ground for 126 yards and one touchdown. Expect Lamb to use his mobility again against the Rockets on Saturday.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Toledo. Although both teams obviously want to win this bowl game, I think that Toledo wants it just a little bit more due to the revenge factor. Toledo finally has the opportunity to avenge its bowl game loss last season and I expect Toledo to do everything it can to win this contest. I think that this game will be extremely competitive throughout, but I think Toledo squeaks out a three point victory.

2017 marked a pretty huge year for films with the releases of huge tent pole franchises, sleeper hits, and of course some good old fashioned “Oscar” movies. This year was packed full of releases that blew audiences away, made them cry laughing or brought them to tears.

We decided to round up our 10 favorite films from throughout the year and decided to rank them here for your amusement! 10. Thor: Ragnarok

In an effort to reinvigorate audience interest in one of their main members of the Avengers, Marvel enlisted the help of comedic director Taika Waititi (director of the brilliant What We Do In The Shadows) to reshape the Thor series. Thankfully, the effort delivered and Thor: Ragnarok has become one of Marvel Studios’ best films to date! Full of big belly busting laughs, tons of engaging action scenes, and a score that is absolutely stellar, the film succeeds in re-correcting the mistakes of the originals! Plus, with a cast as spectacular and talented as this it’s no wonder why this film was great (Tessa Thompson = MVP)! With this new path set for Thor’s character, we can’t wait to see what’s in store come time for a sequel!

9. Wonder Woman

Who would ever think we’d be putting a DCEU film on a Top 10 list, but alas here we are because not only is Patty Jenkins’ take on Wonder Woman amazing…it’s wonderful. Full of heart, humor and a heroine that’s been begging to be put on the big screen, Wonder Woman transcends the stigma of other movies in its franchise and rises above most other superhero movies. Gal Gadot shines bringing this bad-ass and beautiful heroine to the screen in one of the best performances as the character to date. While we don’t know the fate of any other films in the DCEU, what we do know is that Wonder Woman is here to stay and will forever be a force to be reckoned with.

8. Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Alright, I know it just came out but hear me out, Star Wars: The Last Jedi is one of the best films in the franchise to date. Director Rian Johnson does a phenomenal job of subverting every expectation we had of the franchise and integrates his own style it as well. Playing not really like other Star Wars movies, The Last Jedi aims to deepen our relationships with the characters we’ve come to know and love. Rather than new planets and tons of battles, we get to witness the Resistance at its weakest and get to witness their epic rise to victory. It’s a truly different Star Wars film but its also one of the best.

7. Baby Driver

Directed by Edgar Wright, Baby Driver is a film that does something no other film I’ve seen does this year, its narrative heavily revolves around the music of the film. Wrapped in a soundtrack full of rock and soul classics, Baby Driver weaves a wicked tale of a getaway driver who gets wrapped up a little to far in the “gang” he’s working for. Led by Ansel Elgort who plays the shy and tinnitus affected “Baby”, the cast plays a ruthless gang of robbers who’ll stop at nothing to get away with the money. Eiza Gonzalez and Jon Hamm deserve praise for their twisted couple, “Darling” and “Buddy”.

6. Logan

Like saying goodbye to a friend we’ve known most of our life, Logan marked the end of Hugh Jackman’s performance as the iconic Wolverine. Taking a cue from Deadpool, 20th Century Fox allowed the last film in the solo Wolverine series be an R-Rated action film that surely benefited from the rating. Logan is a film that transcends every trope of the superhero genre and delivers a moving and touching farewell to the character we’ve come to love over the past 17 years. Farewell Wolverine, we’ll see you in the MCU reboot.

5. Lady Bird

With her debut, Lady Bird, Gerwig crafts a magnetic and warm film about the pains of growing up and the virtues of home. Lady Bird is a film that lets you into the life of a teenage girl ready to bust out of her drab surroundings and into the larger parts of life, yet to discover that everything she needs may be already surrounding her. It’s a fantastic debut from a director who will continue to impress in her next feature.

4. mother!

mother! is a film that should be seen without knowing anything about its plot. Director Darren Aronofsky has created something that somehow transcends normal films. mother! may not be your ordinary film but it is one of the most frightening and horrific films that has released all year but it also hides a secret message that resonates pretty much with every human on Earth. Led by Jennifer Lawrence in what may be her best performance to date, mother! will have viewers shaken for weeks but pondering many of life’s questions.

3. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri

Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri is one of those films that comes around once in a while that’s full of energy, an amazing script and a performance from Frances McDormand that’ll make the Devil himself fear her character Mildred Hayes. Three Billboards follows the struggle of single mother Mildred as she reels from the rape and murder of her daughter Angela and decides to take matters into her own hands when the local police have yet to do anything. The film is magnetic and full of amazing performances, Three Billboards is a film that needs to be seen!

Get Out is unlike any movie you’ve ever seen. Full of dark comic humor, a high-caliber cast that exceeds every expectation, and a terrifying yet very prevalent plot. Directed by Jordan Peele (of Key & Peele fame), Get Out is a masterclass in horror that unexpectedly creeps up on you before rewarding you with a balls to the wall, all out insanity ending. Without spoiling the film, Get Out sets the bar for horror films proving that the genre is full of potential and that even though it may not feature monsters or demons, humans are always scarier than them all. Whatever you do, Get Out is a film that deserves to be watched regardless if you like genre or not because it touches on problems our country faces today.

When tasked with directing a sequel to the acclaimed 1982 cult classic Blade Runner, Denis Villeneuve returned with a film so stunning and full of themes that are prevalent in today’s society. Blade Runner 2049 is a futuristic science fiction film that instead of focusing on giant action scenes, it chooses to examine human nature in a time when humans are no longer the only species capable of emotions and “humanity”. Full of landscapes and dense populated cities, Denis Villeneuve captures the spirit of the original film’s depiction of Los Angeles while also adding his own spin on things. It’s impossible to really talk about without spoiling main parts of the movie but Blade Runner 2049 is a film that demands time and attention, but give it just that and you will be rewarded with a thoughtful and complex take on what humanity means.
