Week 15, Fantasy Football Start ‘Em 2017: Who To Start This Week

If you’ve made it this far, congratulations. As the NFL regular season and the fantasy postseason near ever closer to hopefully epic finishes, fantasy owners that are still alive in the playoffs should be determined in making essential albeit very slight tweaks to their elite rosters. While it may be easy to overthink certain matchups and make risky changes to get those few extra projected points, it cannot be overstated that if your current lineup has helped you get far that you should confidently and unequivocally stick with it. Barring injuries, your prolific lineups should only be tampered with if and only if there is a particularly juicy matchup that is too intriguing to pass on.

Case Keenum, QB, Minnesota Vikings (vs. Cincinnati Bengals)

Given what happened to Case Keenum against the defense of the Carolina Panthers (two touchdowns, two interceptions), it would be easy to postulate that the once red-hot passer is trending downward. However, when you see what Keenum is at his worst and realize that it actually was not that horrible of a performance (rushed for 40 yards and still completed 61.4% of his passes), it becomes clear that the Vikings signal-callers struggles were more of an anomaly than a sign of regression. Although the Bengals defense has looked better of late at stopping the pass, the weapons and defense of the Vikings should provide Keenum with plenty of opportunities to redeem himself.

Demaryius Thomas, WR, Denver Broncos (vs. Indianapolis Colts)

Despite the incredibly poor quarterback play of the Broncos this season, Demaryius Thomas has still managed to be a fairly productive fantasy weapon, particularly against some of the more porous defenses in the NFL (has scored double-digit fantasy points against all but one of the bottom ten defenses he has faced in the NFL). Better still, Thomas’ target share has dropped below eight just once since the Broncos bye week in week 5. Against an injury-ridden and undisciplined Colts secondary, Thomas should have a solid point floor regardless of who is throwing passes his way.

Marshawn Lynch, RB, Oakland Raiders (vs. Dallas Cowboys)

Although there were times earlier in the season where it appeared that Lynch had lost his mojo, he has been vital in keeping the Raiders competitive in their last three games (scored no less than 12 points during the recent three-game stretch). Although Lynch’s recent success is admittedly due to an insanely high number of given rushing attempts, he has also been featured much more prominently in the Raiders passing game, an aspect that was practically non-existent for the veteran rusher during the initial weeks of the season. Against a Dallas Cowboys defense that has been inconsistent upfront throughout the season, Lynch should see an immense amount of carries and may even go off as a pass catcher in what should be a relatively high-scoring affair.

Jack Doyle, TE, Indianapolis Colts (vs. Denver Broncos)

Arguably, Jack Doyle has been an incredibly productive albeit wildly inconsistent fantasy weapon this season (highest point total: 24.10, lowest point total: 1.90). Still, Doyle has been one of best pass-catchers when it comes to snagging contested passes (contested catch rate of 56.2%, fourth amongst tight ends) and has averaged an impressive 11.4 fantasy points per game (seventh amongst tight ends). Although there are certainly safer options out there, Doyle is in an ideal position to score big against a Broncos defense that is 29th in yards allowed per game to opposing tight ends (63.2 yards per game).

Burglar Gets Drunk, Eats Muffins & Falls Asleep While In The Middle Of A Robbery

You know why criminals are criminals? Cause they’re pitiful at everything else in life.

More times than not, criminals also STINK at crime. Year after year, you’ll find a story titled “Criminal Gets Trapped In Chimney During B&E” or “Thief Knocks Himself Out Cold While Escaping”. Well, today’s headline in idiot criminality is “Man Attempts Burglary, But Ends Up Getting Drunk & Eating A Bunch Of Muffins” instead.

And not only did our man right here, identified as Bradley Braxton, get wasted and stuff his face with a bunch of Entenmann’s, but he fell asleep in the house, too.

Look, I smoked a couple of pots in my day, so I know what it’s like to gorge yourself in munchie snacks until you fall asleep. In fact, I’ve pulled that exact move. But never while I’m committing a crime. I always make sure to keep my crime and partying separate (kidding … or am I?).

Clearly, this guy never graduated from Eric’s School of Stupidity.

via WSAW:

The 40-year-old Oshkosh man is in the Outagamie County jail after a homeowner discovered a stranger had broken in and was sleeping naked in the bed.

According to WBAY-TV, Appleton Police were called to the 200 block of South Memorial Drive on Saturday for a report of a naked man sleeping in the victim’s bed.

Police also said the man, later identified as Bradley Braxton, had drank the homeowner’s whiskey and had eaten his muffins. Braxton also confessed to using meth.

Braxton, who already faced bail jumping charges as he was out on bond for a separate crime, is expected to be charged with burglary, damage to property, disorderly conduct, and possession of marijuana.

Jimmy Kimmel, On A Hot Streak For The Ages, Unleashes Hilarious ‘Game Of Thrones’ Christmas Parody

HBO

Jimmy Kimmel has been on a hot streak for essentially all of 2017. Whether it be his new found voice as the everyman or his consistently hilarious prerecorded bits, Kimmel has had the best year of all the late night hosts. Kimmel continued slinging heat last night with this hilarious Game Of Thrones Christmas parody.

Continued his trend of knowing exactly what the people want, Jimmy Kimmel recruited one of his Game Of Thrones buddies, Nikolaj Coster Waldau, to film this hilarious bit for a Game Of Thrones take on a Christmas decoration classic.

Putting a Westerosi spin on a Christmas decor fixture, Jaime Lannister on a Bannister is everything you never knew you needed for the holiday season.

Production on Game Of Thrones final season is currently underway and is expected to premiere in early 2019.

Sophie Turner Gives Her Opinion On The ‘Game Of Thrones’ Series Finale

HBO

Game Of Thrones eighth and final season is currently being filmed all across the globe, meaning that the actors and the crew now know how the world’s most popular show is going to end.

And while it’s unlikely that any of the actors are going to let slip on what exactly the fate of Westeros is, they will be sparsing out vague hints here and there.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, while Sophie Turner, who plays the red-headed Sansa Stark, didn’t necessarily dish on the exact details of the finale, she did say that it lives up to George R.R. Martin’s promise of a “bittersweet ending”.

via Hollywood Reporter:

Did you ever let yourself imagine what it would feel like once you finally reached the end of the line of Game of Thrones?

“We’ve imagined it for so long. There’s also an ambiguity every season when we would get the scripts: “Is this the season where we die?” To have made it this far is pretty unbelievable, considering the amount of deaths there have been. All of us have always had discussions about theories about what we think is going to happen — who’s going to die, who’s going to end up ruling. Now, we know. It almost feels like another one of our theories. It doesn’t even feel like it’s what’s actually happening. It’s very satisfying.”

Beloved shows have come and gone, and more often than not, there’s at least a vocal minority of fans who are unhappy with the ending. Is there something freeing in knowing some people will be inevitably disappointed with how Game of Thrones ends, even if you find the ending satisfying?

“Absolutely. It almost puts all of our minds to rest, just knowing the ending and being happy with that, no matter if anyone likes it or not. There have been so many theories and so many discussions with what people think is going to happen — where they would like things to go, and who they would like to see in power, and who they want to see die. Finally, just knowing… and for the people, when they watch it, I hope there’s going to be some satisfaction in that it’s come to an end and that’s how it goes. There will be some people who are disappointed, I’m sure, because they will want certain people to end up in certain places. But at this point, I’m just happy with whatever David and Dan choose to do with the story. I’ve trusted them for the past nine or ten years of my life with this. However, they decide to end it is fine by me.”

For more of Sophie’s interview, and therefore more Game Of Thrones tidbits, you can check out the full conversation over on THR. If you’re a Thrones fan like myself, it’s definitely worth it.

Game Of Thrones final season is currently being filmed and is expected to premiere in early 2019.

Salma Hayek Instagram: Best Photos & Must-See Pictures

There was a time, maybe 20 years ago or so, that Salma Hayek was unequivocally the hottest chick in the world. Like Megan Fox in 2008, Kate Upton in 2013, Emily Ratajkowski in 2015, and Alexis Ren, back in like 1995 and 1996, it was Salma Hayek, and then every other woman on Earth. And if you need any further proof of that, I direct you to this iconic scene out of From Dusk Till Dawn:

Or this one from Dogma:

See my point? For a couple of years in the 90’s, there was no one better than Salma Hayek. But that was twenty years ago (holy sh*t we’re getting old) and Salma is no longer the Alpha Female of Planet Earth.

BUT, that doesn’t mean she still isn’t as bad as they come, because all that said, she’s still Salma Hayek.

William Kelly, 52, has been identified as the Penn State Beaver shooting suspect. He allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife, Leslie Kelly, 49, in the parking lot of the school, after luring her with Christmas presents.

Mr. Kelly reported shot and killed his wife with two .45 caliber handguns before committing suicide. Kelly and his wife had recently divorced and were dealing with child custody issues.

William and Leslie were pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

“Please know that the threat has ended and that your safety and security remain our number one priority. Our campus police are vigilant; please avoid the student union building and food services area until further notice,” Penn State Beaver Chancellor Jenifer S. Cushman wrote on the school’s Facebook page.

Cushman added, “We understand this is a traumatic event for our campus community. Students, faculty and staff who may be in need should contact counseling services at 724-773-3961.”

The shooting reportedly happened in the parking lot of Penn State Beaver College in the Bistro area. Gunfire broke out around 3:40 P.M. EST.

“Beaver County SWAT and Center Township Police were ready to respond but their assistance was not needed,” said Beaver County District Attorney David Lozier.

Penn State Beaver sent out a tweet informing students and faculty that there is no longer a threat on campus. However, they still advise students and faculty to avoid the student union building and food services area for the time being.

According to Emmy award-winning journalist Beau Berman’s Twitter page, state police report that Kelly has fired at least eight shots. He reportedly lured his wife into the parking lot under the pretense that he had Xmas gifts to hand over to their children. But instead of gifts, he pulled out two guns and shot his wife dead before committing suicide.

Here’s a message from Penn State President Eric Barron:

The shooting reportedly took place outside the Student Union Building at Penn State Beaver College.

According to State Police Lt. Eric Hermick, William and his ex-wife had custody issues. Leslie was a food service worker at Penn State Beaver College. Teenager With 403 Bitcoins (!) Is Skipping College To Build An Empire

As a kid, we all love to dream that we’ll become millionaires when we grow up, but few of us ever get there, let alone become millionaires when we’re still on the cusp on childhood. But such is the case for Erik Finman who bet his parents that if he was a millionaire by age 18 then he wouldn’t have to go to college. Shockingly, Finman made good on his bet thanks to some clever investing in bitcoin. Not only did this dude – who I kind of hate only because I’m so insanely jealous – not go to college, he dropped out of high school completely at 15 to start his own company. Major props.

Bitcoin, which some analysts believe will reach $1 million or more in 10 years across all major exchanges, currently boasts a value of about $12,000 a coin.

Our guy Finman here? Yeah, he owns 403 bitcoins, so do the math. Further expanding his financial profile, this little whiz kid has also invested in cryptocurrencies such as litecoin and ethereum earning him a bunch of bank.

So he’s an 18-year-old millionaire, but is he worried the fickle nature of the financial world could all come crashing down on him?

“Personally I think bitcoin is going to be worth a couple hundred thousand to a million dollars a coin,” he told CNBC. Bold.

So how did he rack up all this worth and how can I do it? Turns out, Finman received a $1,000 gift from his grandmother when he was 12 that he invested into bitcoin. He then sold that for $100,000 less than two years later.

“(High school) was pretty low quality,” he said. “I had these teachers that were all kind of negative. One teacher told me to drop out and work at McDonald’s because that was all I would amount to for the rest of my life. I guess I did the dropout part.”

After dropping out at 15, he launched an online education company called Botangle and was offered either $100,000 or 300 bitcoin to sell the company in 2015. Finman went with the latter, which was valued at just $200 a coin at the time.

Now, he’s leaning towards skipping college given his rapid rise in the business world.

“I never got my GED, and I don’t see the value in it,” Finman said. “The purpose of that would be to get another education level and get a job. I had to learn through running a business. Instead of writing essays for English class, I had to write emails to important people…The way the education system is structured now, I wouldn’t recommend it,” Finman said. “It doesn’t work for anyone. I would recommend the internet, which is all free. You can learn a million times more off YouTube and Wikipedia.”

Just absolutely crushing it. Good for this kid.

Albert Maruna, a 22-year-old Youngstown State University student, was arrested after he tried to solicit an undercover police officer posing as a 15-year-old boy for sex online. Maruna allegedly offered the undercover officer lube, Sprite, and chicken alfredo.

According to police, Maruna responded to a posting on a dating app on December 5. Enrolled as a student at Youngstown State University in Youngstown, Ohio, Maruna allegedly told the undercover officer that he didn’t believe his age — which he thought was 15 — was “an obstacle to an intimate relationship.”

Maruna then allegedly sent the officer nude photos of himself also allegedly engaged in sexually explicit chats with the officer.

Police said it was clear that MAruna began to develop feelings for the “teen boy”, telling the undercover officer, “You are my one and only” and that he would like to “be his husband some day.”

via WKBN:

According to a police report, Maruna tried to arrange a meeting with the officer, requesting that he wear a jock strap during their time together.

Police said on Tuesday afternoon, Maruna arranges to meet the officer at a location in Austintown, telling him that he is bringing lube, Sprite and chicken alfredo.

Maruna was then arrested and charged with importuning, disseminating matter harmful or obscene to juveniles, possession of criminal tools and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Police said he was found with the items, including a Tupperware container of chicken alfredo.

Police said during questioning, Maruna did not appear to deem having sex with a 15-year-old boy as being wrong.

Maruna was booked into the Mahoning County jail and charged with attempted unlawful sexual contact with a minor, disseminating matter harmful to juveniles, possessing criminal tools, and importuning.

He made his first appearance in court on Wednesday, December 13.

College Student Who Knelt For National Anthem Find Racial Slur Graffitied On Dorm Room

Alyssa Parker, an Iowa college cheerleader who took a knee during the national anthem, found that her dorm room door was vandalized with racial slurs. Parker was one of several students whose dorm room doors were defaced.

Following her protest, Parker and other students found the word ‘n*****’ written on their dorm room doors. This is the latest incident in a string of racist graffiti attacks at Iowa’s Buena Vista University’s campus between December 8 and 11.

According to Parker, her and her roommate, Emerald Jones, were studying for finals on Sunday, December 10, when they were woken up by a friend who has seen the graffiti.

The N-word was written on Parker’s door, while “Illegal” was written on the door of a Hispanic student, and “KKK” and a swastika was written on the door of a white student.

via WHO:

“I woke up to knocks on our door from a friend that we have, and he was just freaking out because when we opened the door, the N-word was written on our door,” said Parker.

The racial scrawl was just the latest in a string of incidents. One had the word “illegal” written on a Hispanic student’s door, and “KKK” and a swastika drawn on a white student’s door. All incidents happened in the Pierce and White residence halls, but the two women believe their door was targeted because of Parker’s protest.

Nineteen-year-old Ryan Bills of Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested in connection to the earlier cases of vandalism, but Parker says Storm Lake Police do not believe he is responsible for the graffiti on their door.

Parker and her teammates originally quit the Buena Vista cheer squad when they were mandated to stand.

While Parker and Jones said they’ll return for the spring semester, they are not sure if they will return to BVU for their junior year.

The investigation is currently ongoing and police are asking anyone with information to call them at 712-832-8010.
