After its surprise reveal during Sony’s 2017 E3 presentation, the Monster Hunter series is finally making the jump back to PlayStation consoles since 2006 with Monster Hunter World. The series, which has become a cultural phenomenon around the world, has been pretty synonymous with Nintendo handheld systems for the past twelve years but now fans can join the hunt in this massive world full of monsters!
Being exclusively released on the PlayStation 4, longtime Monster Hunter fans or those interested in the hunt can get a taste of the action this weekend when the beta goes live for all PlayStation Plus subscribers. Featuring three quests to tackle in two sprawling environments, players can hunt down giant monsters with a choice of 14 different weapons and have a chance to score “bonus items” when the game launches in January.

When is the Beta?
The Monster Hunter World Beta will run from 12 PM EST on December 9th, 2017 to 12 PM EST on December 12th, 2017 only on the PlayStation 4.
What Will I Be Playing in the Beta?
According to the Capcom Unity blog post detailing the release, the beta will feature:
The beta features 3 quests across 2 environments from the game. In the Ancient Forest, you can hunt a fierce yet beginner-friendly Great Jagras or as a more experienced player confront the mighty threat of an Anjanath. In the Wildspire Waste, a massive, dry expanse with swamplands, you can face off against the intermediate level mud-slinging Barroth.
Do I Need to Pre-Order to Get the Beta?
Nope! The Monster Hunter World Beta is available to all PlayStation Plus members. If you aren’t a member of PlayStation Plus you can grab a subscription on Amazon for 1 month, 3 months, or 1 year.
How Do I Download the Beta?
Although the Beta does not start until December 9th, 2017; fans can begin to download the Beta early to spend as much time in the game as possible!

Dr. Fred Distelhorst, an 88-year-old retired orthodontist has become the oldest person to climb to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro.
Distelhorst, from Vail, Colorado, summited Mount Kilimanjaro with his granddaughter, Ellen Edgerton, who was already in Tanzania volunteering. Ellen was volunteering with Bob Bandoni’s Shoulder to Shoulder program when she emailed her grandfather saying “I just signed you up to climb Mount Kilimanjaro.”
According to Vail Daily, Edgerton, who still stays fit by riding his bike and skiing more than 100 days a year, took a warmup stroll up Quandary Peak near Breckenridge before hopping on a plane to Dallas, then to London, and then another to Nairobi. The next day, he flew to Kilimanjaro with his granddaughter.
Deciding they wanted to climb for a purpose, Edgerton and his granddaughter started a GoFundMe page to help them raise money for the children’s home in Kenya where Edgerton has been volunteering.
As many of you know my grandfather and I just finished climbing Mount Kilimanjaro in 6 days. Because my grandfather summited, he broke the record for the oldest person to reach the top, Uhuru Peak!
We both decided we wanted to climb with a PURPOSE. I spent the prior 3 weeks in Meru, Kenya, staying at an orphanage called KACH, which takes in children who have been orphanged from AIDS and violence. I co-led a student group called Student Shoulder to Shoulder (SStS) in which we attended the communities needs through farming, installing biogas digesters, digging etc. I also stayed an extra week to assist at local hospitals.
The founder of the children’s home, Dr. Karambu, has told me that they urgently need to build a house for their upcoming 13+ year old boys, due to a cultural tradition in Kenya, which states teenage boys must live in a separate house from the family due to their coming of age.
Thus, I have created this page as a way to spread awareness about the issues in Kenya and to ask for support for building these children, and my new friends, a place to sleep.

The trailer for Robert Rodriguez’s upcoming science fiction film, Alita: Battle Angel, has finally dropped and everything about it has our jaws dropped to the floor! Based on the hit manga series from the 90’s, Alita: Battle Angel tells the tale of an abandoned and amnesiac cyborg on a quest to figure out what she truly is.
Starring Rosa Salazar as the titular character, the film will follow the origin story of Alita as she is as she is brought back from death by cyber-doctor Ido (Christoph Waltz). With all of her memories wiped and no idea of what she could be, Alita must enter a futuristic world where she has no idea what lurks around the corner. Pushed by her new friend Hugo (Keean Johnson) to trigger her memories back, Alita sets out to take on a world of injustice and learn that she may be the key to saving the world.

Nine people, six of which are students, have been arrested by the Brockport Police Department following a hazing investigation. The investigation revealed instances of hazing and animal torture.
The organization operated as a fraternity, however, its charter was revoked by the Delta Sigma Phi national fraternity in 2001.
While “The Delts” had been on Brockport police’s radar for years due to complaints from students and community members, University Police Chief Dan Vasile said that it wasn’t until two pledges came forward that charges could be filed. Investigators believe that other members were “too intimidated” to speak up.
The nine men face various charges, such as misdemeanor counts of hazing, criminal nuisance, assault and alcohol-related unlawfully dealing with a child. Furthermore, one individual was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and two others were charged with animal cruelty
The animal cruelty charges were filed due to the fraternities “the use of a rat” during hazing.

According to the Democrat & Chronicle, of the nine persons charged, Peterson, Tella and Ryan are not current students. Eight of them are scheduled to be arraigned in Brockport Village court on Friday, December 8.
Stephen Siciliano, the owner of the house that “The Delts” lived in, emailed a statement to the Democrat & Chronicle, saying “I fully support the efforts of the Brockport Village Police, SUNY Brockport Police and SUNY Brockport officials. I called a meeting with the appropriate parties in October to get a handle of the situation. I complied and helped with the requests of the investigation. Since the beginning, I have been proactive about the situation and will continue to support the Brockport Police, The College of Brockport and the community.”
Ending the year with one final bang, Sony is set to hold their fourth annual PlayStation Experience in Anaheim, CA which is surely going to bring PlayStation fans a whole ton of announcements and gameplay reveals! After the spectacular showings earlier this year at E3 2017, Gamescom and Paris Games Week; Sony will use this weekend to show off their 2018 slate in-depth to the public!
Last year’s PlayStation Experience brought super-fans their first glimpse of the next chapter in the critical and commercially successful franchise The Last of Us with The Last of Us Part II and announced the first Uncharted spinoff, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy! This year’s show will host panels for the 10th Anniversary of the Uncharted series and a panel for The Last of Us Part II.

Keaton Jones, a young Tennessee boy who lives outside of Knoxville, Tennessee, has received an outpouring of support from across the world after a video of him tearfully describing his experience with bullying went viral.
The boy in the video, Keaton Jones, can be seen tearfully explaining to his mother the impact that bullying has had on his life.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright was arrested on Friday and booked on domestic violence charges following an incident with his wife in his Tennessee home.
Wright was arrested on Friday, December 8, 2017. He has been charged with assault and preventing a 911 call, according to Williamson Court Records. The pitcher was released on December 9 after posting $5,000 bail. According to records, Wright was booked at 9:25 P.M. and released from jail at 9:15 A.M.
“On Friday night, Steven was arrested at our home following a verbal argument, and the police charged him with domestic assault,” said Wright’s attorney, Alex Little, in a statement to NBC Sports Boston. “Although he said things he deeply regrets, he did not raise his hand at anyone during the incident, and the situation was purely emotional. We are working together as a family to make our relationships stronger, and we ask that you respect our privacy as we do so.”

Wright, 33, and his wife Shannon Wright had just celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary. They live together in Franklin, Tennessee, near the state capital of Nashville. According to social media posts, the couple has two young children; a son and a daughter.

The punishment for a class B misdemeanor carries a maximum of six months in jail and a fine up to $500.

Hannibal Buress is not a comedian I enjoy, but definitely a comedian I respect.
What that means is, while I don’t necessarily laugh out loud from his material, I “get” what he’s going for and can appreciate the commitment to his style. His sarcastic attitude and borderline disregard for the audience’s opinion make Buress both a tough comedian to enjoy but one to respect none the less.
And like most comedian’s stand up personas, Buress’ is very much a product of his true personality, which he puts on full display as he calls arresting officers “goofy as f*ck”, lining right up with who he is on stage.
On Saturday night in Miami, Burress was arrested on a disorderly intoxication charge after getting into an argument with Miami police. Burress, 34, was arrested around 10:30 PM on Saturday and was booked into Miami-Dade jail at 1:57AM on Sunday, December 10. He posted bail of $500 shortly before 6AM and was released.

The suspect was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Authorities report that there is one non-life threatening injury and that the suspect, still unidentified, is in custody. Law enforcement officials say that the man had explosive devices strapped on when it exploded in New York City subway.
Former NYPD commissioner Bill Bratton told MSNBC that the had been told the suspect was a Bangladeshi man in his mid-20s who was wearing a device and indicated he was detonating it in the name of ISIS. Reports indicate the suspect has been living in America for seven years.

Following the deadly shooting at Aztec High School in New Mexico, San Juan Sheriff Ken Christesen is making an effort to highlight the heroics of one teacher in particular.
Kathleen Potter, a substitute teacher in the area, is being hailed as a hero for her quick thinking when William Atchison entered Aztec High School with his gun, killing two students: Casey Jordan-Marquez and Francisco “Paco” Fernandez.
According to reports, when Potter, a substitute teacher, heard the shots being fired, she knew she had to hide the 17 students in her classroom.
“I heard popping sounds down the hall, going pop, pop, pop. I looked in the hall and the custodian, Hill, was in the hall and he was saying, who are you? I could tell he was frantic and I knew what was going on,” Potter told Fox News.
Upon hearing the gunshots, Potter told all of the students to get into the classroom’s office, push the sofa against the door, and lay on the floor. The students waited until the shooting was over and all 17 were unharmed despite the fact the shooter attempted to enter the classroom.

Potter knew both victims, Francisco Fernandez and Casey Marquez. She described them both as popular, all-American students. Fernandez, however, was in her class that morning. He asked Potter if he could go to the bathroom, signed out and never came back. When Fernandez opened the bathroom door, the shooter was standing inside with his gun loaded.
The students inside were quiet, as they were trained to be in a lockdown, according to Potter. But some were scared. The shooter found the students in the room with Potter. He tried to get in but couldn’t because of the sofa barricading the door. Then he shot through the walls but miraculously never hit anyone.
Eventually Potter heard the Sheriff’s department yell out. She opened the door and knew they were safe.
While Potter said she doesn’t consider herself a hero, she did say she’ll be back substitute teaching as soon as possible.

You could say no, or you could push them away.”
At first, Shroeder responded to the podcast backlash with sarcasm and dismissed critics as simply reading those statements out of context.

But she later took to her website to apologize for her remarks regarding the merits of the #MeToo movement. She sent out a letter to all of those affected by her podcast.
In her apology, Stassi said that she is someone who has always been pro-woman. That’s why she created a podcast to provide a safe space for women to talk about whatever they want, uncensored.
She said, “I’ve spent 3 years now discussing the fact that as women, we should feel comfortable to express ourselves/feelings/thoughts without feeling ashamed…(and) The idea of anyone being sexually assaulted horrifies me. The fact that I’ve upset women who have been sexually assaulted horrifies me. And for that I am truly, truly sorry.”

Law enforcement officials say thatAkayed Ullah had explosive devices strapped on when it exploded. Ullah WAS wearing a homemade device that either did not detonate properly or malfunctioned. A total of 4 injuries were reported at the scene of an explosion at Port Authority, however, all injuries are non-life-threatening.Akayed Ullah was taken to Bellevue Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Ullah, who has been living in America for seven years, carried out the attack in the name of ISIS. Mayor de Blasio, who was briefed on the incident, says the explosive device used in the attempted “terror attack” was “low-tech”.

This is the second ISIS-style terror attack in New York City in the last couple of months. On October 31, multiple people were killed in an attack when 29-year-old Sayfullo Saipova drove a Home Depot rental truck into a crowd in Lower Manhattan. Saipov was responsible for killing 8 people and wounding several others. Saipov’s attack was the first act of terrorism with fatalities in New York City since September 11, 2001.
