With the likes of Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande and Taylor Swift out there, being a beautiful pop star just doesn’t cut it anymore — you have to be beautiful AND actually supremely talented if you want to make your mark.

Well people, its now time to officially include the gorgeous Camila Cabello, the Cuban former Fifth Harmony member, in that list of the world’s hottest pop stars.

Instagram Photo

Cabello, born March 3, 1997, is a Cuban-American singer and songwriter who was part of the girl group Fifth Harmony.

Cabello departed from the group in December 2016. Since becoming a lead artist, Cabello has released two singles which entered the top 20 on the US Billboard Hot 100: “I Know What You Did Last Summer” with Shawn Mendes and “Bad Things” with Machine Gun Kelly, with the latter reaching No. 4.

Her single “Havana”, featuring Young Thug, from her upcoming debut studio album, has reached the top 10 across the world. At only 20-years-old, Cabello is going to be a force in the music industry for some time to come.

Now, am I going to start listening to her music anytime soon? Definitely, 100% not. But am I going to immediately start following her on Instagram? You bet your ass.

Absolute Legend Steals $1 Million Worth Of Mexican Food From The Government

Look, the true, true heroes–the troops, police, firefighters, and all the first–responders of the world (and Batman) — this much we know.

But as a wise man (Meek Mill, I believe) once said, there are levels to this shit, and the same is true with heroism. At the tippy top tier are the aforementioned groups — the troops, cops, etc — but right under them, right under the heroes we need, are the heroes we deserve.

This dude, who stole over a million dollars worth of Mexican food from the government, is a hero we deserve.

Gilberto Escamilla, an employee with the Juvenile Justice Department, has been charged with a first-degree theft after he was discovered to have stolen over $1 million worth of fajitas. Escamilla, who is the subject of an ongoing investigation, is accused of stealing the fajitas over the course of nine years.

According to prosecutors, on August 7, Escamilla took a day off for a medical appointment. While Escamilla was away, a driver from the Juvenile Justice Department’s meat vendor called to confirm an order of 800 pounds of fajitas.

When the JJD employee told the meat vendor, Labatt Food Service, that the order was a mistake because the facility does not serve fajitas, the Labatt Food Service employee said that his company has been filling the fajita order to the facility for close to 10 years. The investigation indicates that Escamilla would sell the fajitas to customers he had previously lined up on the day Labatt would deliver them.

via Brownsville Herald:

On Aug. 7, Gilberto Escamilla took a day off to go to a medical appointment. A driver from Labatt Food Service in Harlingen — the Juvenile Justice Department’s meat vendor — called the kitchen to inform it of an 800-pound delivery of fajitas. The woman who answered the phone said the driver was mistaken, and that the kitchen did not serve fajitas. That was when the driver told her he had been delivering fajitas to the Juvenile Justice Department for the past nine years, Saenz said.

“The receiver of the call rushes off to the supervisor and conveys to her the discussion that had been had, and that breaks the case,” Saenz said. “When Mr. Escamilla reports to work the next day, he is confronted with the discussion and he admits he had been stealing fajitas for nine years.”
He was fired Aug. 8 and arrested Aug. 9 after the DA’s Office Special Investigations Unit obtained a search warrant. When officers searched Escaramilla’s house, they found packets of fajitas in his refrigerator.

At the time, the value of the order had been between $2,500 and $30,000, a state jail felony. Escamilla was booked into jail and made bond. But the DA’s Office kept digging. After gathering documents from Labatt Food Service and the County Auditor’s Office, which included invoices, vouchers and purchase orders, the investigations unit concluded that Escaramilla had stolen $1,251,578 worth of fajitas.

“He would literally, on the day he ordered them, deliver them to customers he had already lined up,” Saenz said. “We’ve been able to uncover two of his purchasers, and they are cooperating with the investigation.”

Chief Juvenile Probation Officer Rose Gomez of the Cameron County Juvenile Justice Department released a statement saying that Escamilla’s alleged actions have led to a review of department policy:

“The Juvenile Justice Department is working closely with the Auditor’s Office to institute procedures, controls and safeguards to avoid a recurrence of this type of situation. The Department expects that wrongdoers will be punished and assures that procedures and protocols have been established,” Gomez said. “The Department will continue to strive to provide necessary and appropriate care, custody and protection of those juveniles in its custody as well as protection of public moneys.”

Escamilla was immediately fired from his position and placed under arrest, being charged with first-degree felony theft.

After looking through through Labatt’s inventory records and conducting an audit, investigators found that Escamilla had stolen $1,251,578 worth of food.

Allie, GFW: Hottest Photos Of GFW Wrestler Laura Dennis

Allie is a bubbly blonde, who is innocent and high-pitched on the mic, but can kick some serious ass in the ring. She’s a former TNA Knocksouts Champion, and will be competing for the Impact Knockouts Championship this Sunday at GFW Bound for Glory. The 30-year-old performer will battle Hall of Fame athlete Gail Kim and Impact Knockouts Champion Sienna in a triple threat match. Can Allie pull off the win? You’ll have to wait until Sunday to find out.

She was born Laura Dennis on September 3, 1987, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Ms. Dennis made her professional wrestling debut in May 2005 under the name “Cherry Bomb.” She went on to win several championships in the independent wrestling scene, such as the PMX Women’s Championship, CCW Women’s Championship, Shimmer Tag Team Championship, and much more.

After appearing with TNA briefly for one-off appearances in 2013 and 2015, Ms. Dennis finally made her iMPACT! Wrestling debut on March 23, 2016. She played the role of “Allie,” the personal apprentice of Maria Kanellis.

On the special “Turning Point” edition of iMPACT Wrestling on August 25, 2016, Allie captured her first and only championship with the company. She won the TNA Knockouts Championship after defeating Sienna, Madison Rayne, Marti Bella, and Jade, in a five-way match.

Allie would forfeit her championship a week later to Maria, as she laid down in the ring and let her boss cover her for the win. Poor, Allie. She eventually left Maria in 2017, and has since went onto form an on-screen relationship with wrestler Braxton Sutter.

This Sunday, Allie will once again be gunning for championship gold. You can catch all of that on pay-per-view. But before the big triple threat match this Sunday, you can find Allie on a new episode of GFW iMPACT! Wrestling tonight at 8:00 P.M. (EST) on POP TV.

‘Time’ Most Influential Teens 2017: Our Top Choices From The List

Teens, 'Time'

Source: Shutterstock.com

Time has announced their list of today’s 30 most influential teens, including actors, celebrities, Olympic athletes, musicians and even political activists. Somewhat literal in their line-up, the list went from ages 13 to 19. We’ve compiled our list of our top choices among these teens. And they say that millennials these days don’t do much!

Take a look at some of our top picks!

Millie Bobby Brown

At the age of 13, Brown is one of the younger people on the list, but the point of the list is to honor those who’ve made their mark on the world in their short amount of time on this earth. Dedicated to her craft, it’s probably safe to say that most girls her age would not be happy getting buzzcut, even if it meant an acting role (especially for an acting role, since that’s what people will mark you as for the rest of your life.) Regardless, Stranger Things just wouldn’t be the same without Eleven.

Mikalia Ulmer

Normally, most people would be happy to live in a world without bees. Of course, they should just be happy for people and bees to live separately, since without pollination, our ecosystem is in trouble. When 13-year-old Ulmer learned about this, she decided to take action even after being stung twice by the little buggers! Using a family recipe, she started selling lemonade, specifically flavored with honey, to raise funds for honeybee advocate groups. By 2014, she already developed her own business: Me & the Bees Lemonade. She’s even finishing up her first children’s book, meant to inspire children how to start up their own businesses.

Shibby de Guzman

When I said political activists, I meant political activists. de Guzman, among other Catholic schoolchildren, had joined protests against Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte. de Guzman has also called for other children in the Philippines to speak out against the government, notably after a photo of her was captured at a protest. Even after critics likened the use of her image to child abuse and exploitation, she spoke out, saying, “We completely know and understand the injustice we are protesting against.”

Auli’i Cravalho

Cravalho, at a young age, joined the ranks of Disney’s classic line of heroines, playing the titular heroine of Moana. Of mixed Puerto Rican and Polynesian ancestry, she is hoping to help promote awareness of her cultures throughout American media. “Accurate representation matters,” as she explained in a statement, “I’m proud to be involved in projects that reflect the modern melting pot that is America.” She is also set to appear in the upcoming NBC drama, Rise.

Han Hyun Min

Growing up half-Nigerian and half-Korean in South Korea, this model-to-be face a lot of discrimination growing up. As he once described, as a child, his classmates’ mothers would often forbid them from playing with him out of fears that their skin would become as dark as his. However, after he was discovered by a photo posted on Instagram, he soon became one of the country’s top sought-after models. While he reportedly still faces discrimination, being denied roles over the color of his skin, he hopes his role as a model can teach South Koreans to become more inclusive in their beauty standards.

Ethan and Grayson Dolan

After all, they say that two heads are better than one, so why not have a pair of twins on the list. These two twins started out taking on dares and tongue challenges on camera, with their stunts helping them become viral stars. A YouTube clip of Ethan getting a tongue piercing in their home state of New Jersey garnered two million views and counting. They’ve even had a nationwide variety show that sold out in several cities.

Chloe Kim

The list didn’t forget to mention athletes, especially record-breaking ones! When Kim first tried snowboarding as a little girl, she wasn’t much interested, but she eventually grew up to become the first woman to ever land three full revolutions in the air during  competition! Right now, she is a favorite to win gold at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Shawn Mendes

This Canadian popstar has broke out with hit after hit, known for his albums, Handwritten and Illuminate. Similar to a certain other famous Canadian, he first rose to fame on social media, notably through the now-defunct Vine. Still, he had proven his worth, with around 26 million followers on Instagram alone!

Yara Shahidi

The daughter of an Iranian father and an African-American mother, Shahidi stars in the ABC sitcom, Black-ish as the family’s eldest daughter. Proving popular, she is also set to star in a spin-off show centering around her character going off to college.

Sydney McLaughlin

New Jersey girls certainly show that they mean business! McLaughlin is the first repeat winner of the Gatorade National High School Athlete of the Year Award through her powerful running. She will even race for the University of Kentucky as an upcoming freshman!

Isaac Hempstead Wright

Game of Thrones, whether you prefer the show or the original books, has proven its staying power. That said, bringing Bran Stark to life for eight years, currently remaining one of the show’s few remaining players, Wright can make headlines with just a few words about what might happen on the show!

Elle Fanning

Whether she’s an incarnation of Mary Shelley or Sleeping Beauty, this Fanning sister has also become a figure in today’s fashion world, recently getting to be on the cover of Vouge and leading a second Miu Miu campaign.

Muzoon Almellehan

After learning firsthand the life of a child in a refugee camp after fleeing Syria to Jordan in 2013, Almellehan used her experience to become UNICEF’s youngest ever goodwill ambassador, traveling throughout the world to teach the importance of education to children throughout the world.

Steve Lacy

At the young age of 19, Lacy has already proven himself to be a musical powerhouse. Turning his iPhone into a portable studio, he even co-produced his own band, eventually winning a Grammy nomination for Best Urban Contemporary Album with the 2015 release, Ego Death. Now he’s producing tracks for artists like Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar!

Christian Pulisic

We didn’t forget athletes on the list and with soccer taking over the world in the past few decades, we have one star on the list! Pulisic plays for both the U.S. national team and in Germany’s top pro league, having broken multiple records. Despite being a prodigy, he spoke out on the importance of kids playing the sport just being kids. As he said in a statement, “I think that makes it worse because they don’t realize their kid isn’t enjoying it at all. Let kids be kids.”

Bretman Rock

This Hawaii-based Filipino beauty vlogger used his makeup brushes like a magic wand to rise up to Internet stardom, with nearly 9 million Instagram followers. With a national tour under his belt, he even got to host the Miss Universe red-carpet preshow this year! As he said, “I think the universe is taking quite good care of [me].”

Salvador Gómez Colón

With his San Juan neighborhood harmed by Hurricane Maria, Colón started a campaign to help those in need of solar lamps, hand-operated washing machines and other supplies for his neighbors in need: the Light and Hope for Puerto Rico. As he said in a statement, “One day should not go by that we don’t remind ourselves of how we can make other people’s lives better.”

Jaden & Willow Smith

Will Smith’s two children have appeared in music, television and all kinds of media together and individually. They were listed on the list individually, but who would want to split up a brother and sister? It helps to be the son and daughter of the Fresh Prince himself!

The former CEO and chairman of Ameritrade, Joe Ricketts, announced on Thursday that he will shut down two of his media companies: DNAinfo and Gothamist. Ricketts said that he launched that company in New York City in 2009, “at a time when few people were investing in media companies.”

He had just acquired the news and culture blog Gothamist in March, but shut down operations on Thursday after writers in his New York branch voted to unionize. The New York branch of DNAinfo had also voted to unionize.

Ricketts and a few partners created what would become TD Ameritrade in 1975. Back then, it was called First Omaha Securities. It has since grown into the one of the biggest online discount brokerages in the world. In 2011, he left that business behind, and decided to focus more on his philanthropic pursuits and entrepreneurism.

Let’s see just how much moolah Joe Ricketts has raked in over the years…

Joe Ricketts Net Worth as of 2017: $2.1 Billion

John Joseph “Joe” Ricketts has a total net worth of $2.1 billion dollars. That’s a whole lot of coin. He’s undoubtedly made a lot of cash during his over 76 years on this Earth. He’s the former CEO and chairman of the giantic brokerage firm Ameritrade, and the current majority owner of the Chicago Cubs (maintains a 95% controlling interest of the team and Wrigley Field). He also owns 20% of Comcast Sportsnet Chicago. In 2008, he launched his very own film company known as The American Film Company, which features true stories from America’s past.

Ricketts is also a known supporter of U.S. President Donald Trump. He donated at least one million dollars towards Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign.

Each year, Volcom partners with some of the best athletes in the business to create snow gear that delivers a variety of fits (ditch the baggy look for a skinny cut), styles good for the slopes and lodge, and technology features.

This year’s line features collaborative collections with snowboard legend Bryan Iguchi and Team Volcom pro Pat Moore along with a special line of apparel designed for and approved by backcountry guides.

While I myself am not a snowboarder, I can attest that Volcom’s new Winter Line should be the go-to for anyone who lives in the colder sections of the country. Sure, maybe I’m not ripping it down a mountain anytime soon, but I commute to New York City every day during the height of winter, which is arguably worse.

Luckily, this year’s winter will be much easier, and it’s all thanks to Volcom’s new gear.

The patented technology included in this year’s snow collection:

Smoking Hot Australian Drug Mule Sentenced To Seven-And-A-Half Years

Isabelle Lagace, a super hot Canadian who got busted in Australia for attempting to smuggle $30 million dollars worth of cocaine in the country, has been sentenced.

Lagace, 29, arrived in Sydney in August 2016. Australian Border Force officials found a suitcase containing about 30kg of cocaine in her shared cabin, later estimated to be worth up to $21.5 million.

Lagace, who pleaded guilty to importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug, claimed to have been given an ultimatum about clearing a $20,000 debt to an unnamed person. Furthermore, Lagace claimed she began to receive threats and was told her debt would be cleared if she provided a bag to another passenger.

via ABC:

Lagace, 29, had pleaded guilty in the NSW District Court of attempting to bring the drugs into the country on the Sea Princess cruise ship in August 2016. Judge Kate Traill told the court Lagace’s role as a courier was central to the drug importation.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) estimated the cocaine had a street value between $17 million and $21.5 million. The court heard Lagace had been attempting to repay a debt, and was convinced to courier the drugs after meeting some people on a two-month round-the-world cruise.

Lagace’s case has grabbed plenty of negative headlines in her native Canada, where media reported she was a “softcore porn star”.

The presiding Judge said Lagace had “good prospects” for rehabilitation and set a non-parole period of four-and-a-half years.

Florida Teacher Arrested For Sleeping With One Of Her Students

Caroline Lawson, a 39-year-old Hillsborough County high school English teacher, was arrested for having sex with her student.

According to Hillsborough County authorities, Lawson, 29, had an unidentified high school student to her apartment in Tampa on Wednesday, November 1, around 5 PM EST.

The arrest affidavit states that while the student was at Lawson’s home, the two engaged in consensual sex. The report also notes that the two did not use a condom.
That night, Lawson sent a series of text messages to a third party, which described part of what occurred.

via ABC Action News:

Lawson’s text read: “I cheated on jameson… with a student”.

The third party asked, “When you say cheated, do you mean slept with?”

Lawson replied: “Yes.”

Police met with the alleged student, who then gave a detailed account of his sexual experience with Lawson. The 17-year-old male student was able to provide Lawson’s full name and age to authorities.

Lawson was arrested on Friday, November 3 and was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor. She was transported and booked into the Hillsborough County jail.

Hillsborough County Public Schools released a statement regarding Lawson’s arrest:

“We are deeply disappointed by these charges. The safety of our students is our top priority. We are working with law enforcement as they investigate. This employee has resigned her position with the district.”

Lawson posted $30,000 bond and was released.

Fantasy Football Scout 2017: Allen Hurns

For the most part, many teams are not privileged to have elite quarterbacks on their roster. Sure, their plenty of decent to good passers out there, but when you break it down there are only a select few signal-callers that are worthy of the moniker “elite”. However, for all of the quarterbacks that fall immensely or just short of being one of the best, some of them are lucky enough to have surrounding playmakers that make them appear to be much more proficient at their craft. While these respective receivers and running backs cannot cover up all of the blemishes of their respective quarterbacks, they can alleviate enough of the pressure to help their passers excel where normally they would fall short in terms of success.

Team: Jacksonville Jaguars
Position: Wide Receiver
Percent Owned On Fantasy Teams: (Yahoo Fantasy): 37%
Fantasy Points Total Thru Week 8 (Half PPR): Projected: 62.73 Actual: 60.5

While he may not be an elite talent, wideout Allen Hurns has done a magnificent job at helping a barely adequate quarterback in Blake Bortles look competent more often than not (Bortles QB rating when Hurns is targeted: 114.5, 12th in the league). Specifically, Hurns is able to create separation from his defenders consistently (1.84 yards of separation per target, 13th amongst receivers), allowing Bortles to make relatively low risk passes. Although Bortles is likely in his last year with the Jaguars, Hurns at least allows his woeful quarterback to look at least decent when he is targeted.

When it comes to his presence in the red zone, Hurns is one of the most reliable wideouts in the league when it comes to red zone target shares (30.4% red zone target share, 9th amongst receivers) and receptions (six red zone receptions, 4th amongst receivers). Although his constant use in this area of the field does not always result in touchdowns, his consistency in receiving targets when the Jaguars are in red zone makes him an intriguing fantasy player that is almost always a catch away from scoring big.

Although Hurns does not always receive the ample target shares for someone who has such an underrated and useful skillset, he has proven his value against weak secondaries and is usually targeted downfield, giving him intriguing big play ability. Typically, Hurns should be considered a streaming flex play with promising upside against poor pass defenses.

Fantasy Football Scout 2017: Curtis Samuel

$

0

Arguably, football fans were treated to one of the most eventful trade deadline periods in NFL history. Playoff contenders acquired big-name playmakers (Eagles traded a fourth-round pick for Jay Ajayi), while woeful franchises failed to get their trades in before the deadline (see the Cleveland Browns embarrassing attempt and failure to trade for Cincinnati Bengals backup quarterback AJ McCarron). In the case of the Carolina Panthers, they boldly traded away one of their big-play wideouts in Kelvin Benjamin to the Buffalo Bills for a third and seventh round pick. While Panthers fans may be dismayed at losing one of their athletic weapons, it does provide a grand opportunity for one of their young draft picks to step up and become the next favorite target for quarterback Cam Newton.

Team: Carolina Panthers
Position: Wide Receiver
Percent Owned On Fantasy Teams: (Yahoo Fantasy): 4%
Fantasy Points Total Thru Week 8 (Half PPR): Projected: 47.38 Actual: 13.20

While wide receiver Curtis Samuel has yet to live up to his second-round draft selection, his 40-yard dash time (4.31 seconds) and his displayed versatility when he played for Ohio State points to a rookie that is overflowing with exciting potential. Although his 11.7 yards per reception statistic during his last year in college is impressive, Samuel also has impressive capabilities as a rusher as well. Given his breakneck speed, Samuel was able to rush for 771 yards on 7.9 yards per rushing attempt in 2016. Considering the Panthers have struggled to run the ball recently, Samuel could provide a unique wrinkle for Carolina to utilize in jet sweep and run pass option situations.

Instagram Photo

As a fantasy asset, Samuel certainly displays the versatility and athleticism to be incredibly valuable, although his poor usage rate is a bit concerning. While Samuel has flashed his dynamic capabilities as both a rusher and pass-catcher, his small target share of 14 on the season is not nearly enough to provide adequate insight into how the rookie will now be utilized. Although the potential is clearly there and his performance in college cannot be ignored, he cannot be considered a must-have waiver wire pick up right away until we see how he functions in his expanded role with the Panthers.

Still, Samuel has the ability to be the next great young wideout for the Panthers and could very well come close if not take over top receiving duties if he gets the requisite opportunities to do so. For now, fantasy owners should keep a close eye on Samuel when the Panthers take on the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Crime is, generally, bad. You want to stay away from crime. At the very least, you want to stay away from getting caught.

That said, there is one type of crime I’m allll about (disclaimer: but have no committed) and that’s the type of crime that involves ripping off “the man”. Apple, Google, Walmart, Amazon, etc. So, yes, I do think three chubby dudes from California stealing over 300 brand-spanking new iPhone’s

According to SFPD Taraval Police Captain Rick Yick, three thieves grabbed stole shipment before delivery to an Apple store at the Stonestown Mall in San Francisco. Police say a witness saw three unidentified “heavy set” suspects wearing hooded sweatshirts exit a white Dodge van.

Captain Yick said, “It appears the suspects knew what they were looking for.”

via CBS San Fransisco:

Police say at least 300 iPhone X’s were stolen from the UPS truck. At a minimum the iPhone X retails for $1,000, so thieves made off with more than $300,000 in merchandise. Friday is the much anticipated release of the iPhone X and Stonestown Galleria’s Apple store was stocking up.

The iPhone X boasts facial recognition technology and an improved camera that can mimic professional quality photos. Police say they believe the suspects were tracking this truck. When the UPS driver went in to Macy’s to make a delivery they broke in and took all of the smartphones inside.

Yick said, “Given the dollar value in the incident itself it appears it was planned.”

The upside is that the iPhone X comes with IMEI serial numbers so Apple can track them down if people report suspicious sales.

Police are telling consumers to stay away from third-party sellers.

SFPD spokeswoman Grace Gatapandan said, “If you’re going to purchase stuff go to an actual store to purchase it.”

Jimmy Kimmel Live!

For the past year, many people (me) were wondering if Jennifer Lawrence had, well, Jennifer Lawrence’d too hard. Like, yeah Jen, we get it, you’re normal and you eat a lot of food and you’re down to earth because you make fart jokes. At first, it was endearing and cute, but after a while, it came off as manufactured.

Well folks, I’m here to tell you I’m 100% back IN on Jennifer Lawrence her and shtick. If you ever needed proof that J-Law is the funny, hot, don’t give a f*ck girl that you read about, this is it.

Lawrence, who was guest hosting Jimmy Kimmel Live! while Kimmel attends to his young son, immediately started grilling Kardashian (who is apparently her real-life friend) by asking her about Reggie Bush’s ex. Kardashian, turning to the audience looking visbly shook, says she “thought this was going to be fun.”

Overall, this video is worth it just to watch Kardashian sweat off the 8 pounds of makeup she was probably wearing.

Kimmel has had a bunch of entertaining guest hosts this week — Channing Tatum, Shaq, Dave Grohl, and Lawrence — so check all of those out over on Kimmel’s YouTube as you try and burn off the final few hours before the weekend.

College Majors

One of the biggest milestones in going to college is finally picking your major. Some students have prepared most of their lives for their specific career long before enrolling, while others are unsure what they’ll major in while they are already at college. It’s best to make an informed decision, so we are going to look at five of the most common misconceptions people have about choosing their college major.

What are 5 misconceptions people have about choosing their major?

A STEM major is always a ‘sure’ way to big bucks

We’re not saying that computer science and engineering won’t lead to high-paying jobs, but it’s also a bit of an overgeneralization since not all STEM majors will lead to a good job.

“Students and parents have a pretty good idea of what majors pay the most, but they have a poor sense of the magnitude of the differences within the major,” said Douglas A. Webber, an associate professor of economics at Temple University. According to him, the top quarter of earners of English majors make more over the lifetimes than the lowest quarter of chemical engineer majors.

Another slight issue STEM majors could have is that its reputation of a sure thing could lead to more and more people enrolling, which will eventually lead to increased competition. I’ll make it simple for you: there’s no such thing as a “sure thing.”

Your major holds more weight than your actual college

The old adage comes to mind: would you rather be a small fish in a big pond or a big fish in a small pond? This isn’t some riddle for the ages. The answer is being a big fish in a small pond! The answer always is being a big fish in a small pond! The only time they ever get put in their place is by a big fish from a big pond, never by those stupid small fish in their big ponds.

Students in the states of Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington have access to databases for early earnings of graduates of institutions within the state. From what they’ve gathered, coming from a selective school helped graduates’ income more than what major they choose from.

Students at elite schools can survive studying and majoring in arts, humanities or social science majors because they have to power to network to save themselves from what people label “useless degrees.” Arguably, since the people who choose these majors were already in elite schools, they had been planning to make a career path out of it in the first place, rather than go with an “easy” degree, In other words, nothing is “useless” if you know how to work it. In fact, this might be so important that I’m going to say it twice.

The Liberal Arts leads to ‘Useless Degrees’

See what I did there? I’m just going to come out and say it. There are plenty of jobs out there that are just interested in hiring students with a degree or any degree.

While there might not be a lot of demand for jobs that directly require expertise in art history or puppet arts, these degrees still require skills like writing or analysis that might be in demand for jobs that are otherwise available.

2017 study by David J. Deming, an associate professor of education and economics at Harvard, revealed that jobs demanding these skills and more, such as critical thinking, have seen both the largest growth in employment and pay over the past three decades.

We’re not saying a pottery major can get into med school guaranteed, we’re just saying they have other options than applying for part-time jobs, especially since graduates are usually written off as overeducated for various part-time jobs anyway.

You need to choose a major as early as possible!

College students are stereotyped as being quite the procrastinators, starting their 15-page term papers the night before they hand it in. That said, rushing into things can still be the opposite extreme, not the better alternative.

According to a national survey by the University of California, Los Angeles, 20% of students who thought they already decided on their major when they first enrolled ended up switching. In fact, if you end up switching your major part-way through, you could have ended up wasting a few semesters taking courses you wouldn’t need to actually graduate.

Your first year can also be used studying your prerequisites, as well as taking the time to focus on the major that could impact the rest of your life.

You need a major at all (sort of…)!

Okay, this one surprised even me! A few universities, such as Indiana University and Evergreen State College, allow students to develop their own major instead of selecting what is directly offered at the school.

“Majors are artificial and restrictive,” said Christine Ortiz, a dean at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, whose developing a nonprofit university without majors (or classrooms or lectures for that matter), adding, “Majors result from the academic structure of the university, tied to the classic academic disciplines. There is no reason they need to be boxed up like that. They don’t take into account emerging fields that cross disciplines,” according to The New York Times.

Seth Rogen Told An Awesome Story About James Franco On The Set Of ‘Pineapple Express’

Columbia Pictures

We’ve all heard of #RelationshipGoals, but Seth Rogen and James Franco have invented their own category of goals, #BromanceGoals.

This week, James Franco was one of six people in the entertainment industry being celebrated at the inaugural IndieWire Honors on November 2.

According to Indiewire, Franco’s vision as a filmmaker and actor is showcased in The Disaster Artist as well as HBO’s The Deuce. Seth Rogen, who produced “The Disaster Artist” and has been friends with Franco for years, so he shared his thoughts with IW on what its been like collaborating with Rogen, particularly on this the stoner comedy classic, Pineapple Express.

via Indiewire:

So Franco comes on board the movie and we re-connect and it’s beautiful and wonderful and all I could ever have hoped for. We start filming, and there’s a scene where me and James are smelling a big bag of weed (fucking shocker, I know) and the director cuts.

Between takes, I kind of laugh to myself, and Franco’s like “What?” and I’m like, “I just thought of a joke, but I don’t think I can say it in the movie because it’s probably too ridiculous. But I thought I would be funny if when I smelled the weed, I said it smelled like ‘God’s vagina.’ But I don’t think I can say that.” Franco smiles and then the next take starts. We smell the bag of weed and Franco goes, “It smells like God’s vagina!” The director cuts and everyone laughs heartily and showers Franco with praise. It goes on to become one of the funnier jokes in the movie, and a joke that I personally am very fond of.

So, again, the moral of the story isn’t that I came up with a joke and Franco stole it, although it feels good to get that info out there.

Just two dudes, being bros, getting high and making movies — that, my friends, is the definition of #BromanceGoals.
