Three psychology professors at Dartmouth College are the subjects of a criminal investigation following reports of alleged sexual misconduct.

According to New Hampshire Attorney General Gordon MacDonald, his office is launching a joint investigation in response to reports in Dartmouth’s student newspaper claiming that the Ivy League school was looking into “allegations of serious misconduct.”

Dartmouth, an Ivy League school, placed the three professors — Todd Heatherton, Bill Kelley and Paul Whalen — on paid leave and restricted their access to campus while college officials conduct their own investigation.

In a statement posted to the university’s website Tuesday, the college confirmed that professors Todd Heatherton, Bill Kelley, and Paul Whalen were under investigation. All three teach in the college’s Department of Psychology and Brain Sciences. The professors have been put on paid leave with restricted access to Dartmouth property, the school said.

Last week, the student-run newspaper “The Dartmouth,” reported that posters had been placed around campus asking, “Where is Prof. Paul Whalen?” and “Where is Prof. Bill Kelley?”

When reporters questioned university officials, they were informed that all three men had been placed on leave pending the outcome of a university investigation.

Dartmouth released a full statement about the investigation:

A joint criminal investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct against Dartmouth Faculty of Arts and Sciences professors Todd Heatherton, Bill Kelley, and Paul Whalen has been launched by the New Hampshire attorney general’s office, the Grafton County attorney, New Hampshire State Police, the Grafton County sheriff’s office, and Hanover police, according to College spokeswoman Diana Lawrence.

Last week, the College issued a statement confirming its own ongoing investigations, Lawrence says. While those investigations are pending, the three faculty members are on paid leave, with restricted access to Dartmouth property.

“Dartmouth is cooperating with law enforcement,” says Lawrence. “From the outset of our investigations, we have encouraged the reporting of possible crimes to law enforcement and have offered resources to support that reporting.”

The attorney general’s office has provided contacts for anyone with information about these allegations. Joliet Central High School on lockdown after unconfirmed reports of gun at school.

According to a statement on the Joliet Township High School District’s website, the lockdown was put in place after someone reported seeing a person with a gun entering Joliet Central High at 201 E. Jefferson St.

A phone message sent out to school parents said:

This is Joliet Township High School calling with important information. Joliet Central is in a lockdown at the present moment . Someone reported seeing a person with a gun entering the school. We have not confirmed this information. As a precaution, Joliet Central was immediately placed on lockdown. Police are on the scene and working with JTHS. We will remain on lockdown until further notice. Students who were not in the school at the time of the lockdown are being held on busses outside the school and will remain there until the all clear is given. No one is being allowed to enter the school at this time. Please do not come to the school or contact your student as this will impede our progress of the investigation. We will keep you informed as we receive information.”

The school is on lockdown as a precaution. At this time, no one is allowed to enter the building if they were not inside the building when the school went on lockdown.

Joilet Central High School officials asked parents not to come to the school or contact their children as it would impede the investigation.

A freshman student from the University of Hartford, Brianna Brochu, has been arrested after her roommate,Jazzy Rowe, claimed that she was systematically poisoned over the first few weeks of the school year, in what is believed to have been an attempt to get her to move out.

Brochu was taken into police custody by the West Hartford Police Department on October 28, having been charged with second-degree breach of peace and third-degree criminal mischief, both of which are classified as misdemeanors.

For her part, Rowe explained her side of the story in a Facebook post. “As a young African American woman I don’t want to become another statistic. When it comes to college incidents/crimes and racial cases justice needs to be served,” explained Rowe.

In a statement with The Hartford Courant, she later said she felt “ostracized” by Brochu. Elaborating on the story, she mentioned undergoing throat pains while living together and that she had been warned about Brochu’s claim to have tampered with her items by a neighbor who read Brochu’s Instagram posts. She later explained more of what had happened on a Facebook video.

“Let me be clear: the accused student’s behavior was reprehensible and does not reflect the values of our institution. Let me also be clear that I am confident the University has taken all steps to pursue this matter seriously, and will continue to do so.” Rowe believes that Brochu’s actions were likely racist in nature, saying that, “I don’t understand why, which is why I think it’s a whole racial/hate issue.”

According to The Tab, Brochu has since been released and is currently out on bail for $1,000. If convicted, she faces a maximum sentence of six months in prison and a potential fine. Set to appear in court Wednesday, she also risks further punishment from the school itself, such as the loss of her scholarship.

Update: According to court documents, uploaded by Heavy, Brochu admitted to police that she had tampered with Rowe’s personal items, including smearing tampon blood on her backpack.

She has since been charged with breach of peace of the second degree and criminal mischief in the third degree, with the cased being moved to Hartford Superior Court. While currently free on $1,000 bail, she is banned from the University of Hartford’s campus and has been ordered by the court to have no contact with Rowe.

West Hartford Police have said that they hope to add an additional charge of second-degree intimidation based on bigotry or bias to Brochu’s current list of charges. A felony charge, Brochu could up one to five years if convicted.

Rowe has said that she has been quite busy promoting her story to the press. “It’s time we fight back and stop being silenced!” she wrote in a post on social media.

On social media, many have offered their support to Rowe over what has happened, with the hashtag, #JusticeForJazzy.

Jared Goff, QB, Los Angeles Rams (vs. New York Giants)

Once considered one of the biggest busts of all time, second-year starter Jared Goff has looked spectacular thanks to the tutelage of head coach Sean McVey. Since last year, Goff has become much more confident at staying steady in the pocket and making big plays downfield (5.31 yards per pass attempt in 2016, 7.74 YPA in 2017). In terms of making big plays in clutch moments, also known as “money throws” (classified as a pass requiring exceptional skill or athleticism as well as critical throws executed in clutch moments), Goff is amongst the best passers as he ranks fourth in the league with 12 such throws. Against a Giants defense that has allowed 258.7 passing yards per game, Goff should be considered a solid QB1 option with six teams on a bye.

Doug Martin, RB, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (vs. New Orleans Saints)

Yes, the Saints defense has come a long way since the start of the season, particularly as it pertains to stopping the pass. However, the Saints are still clearly working out the kinks with their rush defense as they are allowing an average of 120 rushing yards per game. While Martin has yet to have a breakout game, he’s had a steady point floor since coming back from a suspension as he has garnered at least 60 total yards and one reception in every game he has played in. With a juke rate of 28.6% (15th amongst running backs) and a breakaway rate of 4.6% (percentage of carries of 15 or more yards, 17th amongst running backs), Martin could easily put together his first 100-yard rushing game of the season.

Michael Crabtree, WR, Oakland Raiders (vs. Miami Dolphins)

Alright, so initially the matchup with the Dolphins defense does not look great for Crabtree. However, when you consider that the reliable wideout was targeted 10 times against a tough Buffalo Bills defense last week, it’s hard to imagine Crabtree not getting that same type of volume. Also, a great defense can only be supremely stout if they at least have a half-way decent offense to back them up, which they don’t have whether it’s Matt Moore or Jay Cutler under center (look what happened to that top-notch Denver defense on Monday night). While wide receiver Amari Cooper has been much more effective recently, Crabtree is still the go-to target for quarterback Derek Carr and could perform surprisingly well on Sunday.

Jack Doyle, TE, Indianapolis Colts (vs. Houston Texans)

After getting off to a slow start during the first five weeks of the season, Doyle has looked like the pre-season sleeper that he was projected to be. With double-digit targets in two out of his last three games, Doyle has become a reliable weapon for quarterback Jacoby Brissett and was incredibly vital in a close loss to a solid Cincinnati Bengals defense. Against a Texans defense that ranks 24th in yards allowed per game to tight ends, Doyle should come close if not match his performance from last week. While he may not be an exciting option going forward as the Colts play tough pass defenses during the next few weeks, Doyle has insanely high upside for at least one more week.

No matter how great a quarterback is on the field, they almost always need a complimentary group of receivers to help them excel. While the Buffalo Bills have been devoid of serious playmakers for most of the season, this team was persistent before the trade deadline in acquiring star wideout Kelvin Benjamin from the Carolina Panthers. Despite underwhelming performances in his last two games, Matthews should be able to bounce back against the weak secondary of the New Yor Jets this week.

Although the individual statistics are not great for Matthews at the moment, his notoriety as a reliable wideout has earned him the trust of Tyrod Taylor as the dual-threat passer has a QB rating of 121.5 (7th in the league) when targeting the aforementioned wideout. Even better, Matthews has made the most of his opportunities when targeted as he averages 9.7 yards per target (13th amongst receivers) and has an elite catch rate of 75% (6th amongst receivers).

Despite having low fantasy numbers recently, Matthews is actually one of the better wideouts in the league in terms of fantasy points per target (2.01, 16th amongst receivers). The issue for Matthews has been target volume, something that should be somewhat rectified with Benjamin drawing the attention of opposing secondaries. In this way, both receivers should help the other become more effective as defenses will have to account for both of these big-play wideouts rather double-covering just one on every play.

While Matthews still needs to prove that he can convert his impressive receiving skill set into valuable fantasy points, his proven efficiency with the Eagles and Bills when healthy should intrigue fantasy owners who are looking for a breakout flex play. Against the Jets this week, Matthews will have a grand opportunity to go off against one of the more porous secondaries in the league and could be a consistent flex play going forward if he performs well on Sunday.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: ‘Police were called at 17:01hrs to reports of a taxi in collision with pedestrians in Southampton Street WC2.”

Metropolitan Police has also confirmed that the incident is not terror related. The spokesperson continued, “Officers and the other emergency services attended the scene. We are aware of injuries but await further confirmation.”

“The driver of the taxi stopped at the scene and has been detained by police,” said the police spokesman. “This is being treated as a serious road traffic collision, and not thought to be terrorist related. ”

One person was trapped underneath the taxi, following the crash. The name of the person driving the cab has not been released.

Stuart Crichton of London Ambulance Service said, “A man was treated for a serious leg injury and taken to a major trauma centre as a priority.

“Two other patients were treated for minor injuries and also taken to hospital. A fourth patient was checked over at the scene.”

Witness, Daan Fuldner, tweeted: ‘A f****** cab just crashed into the sidewalk at #CoventGarden and everyone ran away panicking.”

“Area cleared by private security and Mets, at least 10 cops present within 2 mins,” tweeted out Fuldner. “Lots of sirens, more police coming right now.”

“Cops clearing more space, want to keep the area clear but seem very much on edge,” tweeted the witness.

“More police, area around cab clear. Seems to be no danger but still lots of officers around and keep asking people to leave,” wrote Fuldner.

One witness, Adam Lake, said: “Never seen so much panic. People running. All Covent Garden and Strand closed off.”

As a result of the incident, several roads were closed “due to a serious collision,” according to the Transport for London authority.

The Covent Garden is an extremely popular tourist destination. The area is full of shops, restaurants, and a busy market.

Was this a terrorist attack?

A black cab drove up on the curb and smashed into shoppers at the Covent Garden in Central London on Wednesday. Metropolitan Police don’t believe the crash/attack was terror-related. However, the name of the driver has not been released. It isn’t know why the cab crashed into a crowd of shoppers. Whether it is accidental or intentional has yet to be revealed. Police believe the incident to be a traffic collision and not terrorism.

According to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, Velez was arrested October 19 and charged with sexual battery, a third-degree felony, and booked into the Cleveland City Jail. She is accused of sexually assaulting the boy, who was then 13, multiple times between March and December 2015. Velez worked as a bilingual paraprofessional at Clark Elementary School and was hired in October 2014.

Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia, a spokeswoman for the Cleveland police department, said Velez is suspended without pay while the case is pending.

Velez worked as an instructional aide at Clark Elementary School in 2015 when she had sex with the boy, according to court records. She had sex multiple times with the then 13-year-old boy between March and December 2015, according to court records.

When Velez learned about a pending Cleveland police investigation launched in September, she called the boy and tried to convince him to lie to investigators, court records say.

Cleveland Metropolitan School District spokeswoman Roseann Canfora said Velez resigned from her position as an instructional aide in 2015 to take her job with the Cleveland Police Department.

Canfora said the district was unaware at the time of any accusations of impropriety on Velez’s part while she was employed.

Velez pled not guilty, was given a bond of $10,000. she received a no-contact order with the victim.

Velez graduated from John Hay Early College High School in 2010 and then graduated from John Carroll University in 2014 with a degree in psychology and a minor in Spanish before being hired at Clark Elementary.

Darren Drake, 32, is one of eight people who were killed in Tuesday’s terrorist attack in Lower Manhattan. Drake was riding his bike on a 15-minute break from his job when a truck plowed through the bike lane, mowing over Drake and multiple other victims. He is a New Jersey resident, who his father describes as the “perfect son.”

Sayfullo Saipov, 29, has been identified as the terror suspect who drove a rented truck through a Manhattan bike lane for more than a dozen blocks. Saipov has been arrested and charged in the attack that left eight people dead and 11 other injured.

Who is Darren Drake

Darren Drake’s most recent Facebook posted on October 27, 2017.

His father, Jimmy Drake, describes him as “the perfect son.” His son still lived at home, and they enjoyed spending time together, speaking about politics and going fishing.

“While other people would take cigarette or coffee breaks, he would go out and ride the bike for 15 or 20 minutes,” said Darren’s father, who added that his son usually listened to an audio book while riding a bike.

Jimmy Drake added, “I hope he didn’t feel any pain.”

Darren Drake worked as a program manager job at Moody’s Analytics. He was killed during his 15-minute break, as a truck drove down a bike lane in lower Manhattan, killing Darren and seven other people.

The 32-year-old victim had recently underwent weight loss surgery, and had been riding his bike 25 plus-miles each day in order to stay physically fit.

He was also a fan of the HBO program Game of Thrones, according to his Facebook profile.

Drake is a 2007 graduate of Rutgers University, with a bachelor’s degree in political science. He later earned a master’s degree from the Fairleigh Dickinson University, and was seeking his second master’s at Stevens Institute of Technology.

In 2009, Drake was elected to the New Milford school board. He was promoted to vice president before transitioning to the role of president in January 2013. However, he decided to step down from his position because his company relocated.

Darren Drake was a resident of New Milford, New Jersey. He graduated from New Milford High School, where he played on the football team.

The New Milford Football delivered a tweet Wednesday afternoon, sending out their prayers to the friends and family of Darren Drake.

For the first time since 2008’s Call of Duty: World At War, the popular first-person-shooter franchise returns to its roots with the release of this year’s Call of Duty: WWII. Rather than set in space or the near future like recent titles this year’s game is set during the second World War and will transport players back in time to the horrifying events that occurred throughout Europe.

Developed by Sledgehammer Games, one of Activision’s three developers for the franchise, Call of Duty: WWII sets its sights on reshaping the future of the franchise. Rather than focusing on the already stellar multiplayer and “Zombies” sections of the game, Sledgehammer Games is trying to revitalize the Call of Duty campaign with a story of a band of soldiers trying to survive through the final stages of the war. This effort to “humanize” the series that some have written off as a “mindless FPS” is surely one that will help win back some previous fans and new ones too.

While the game’s story may be taking the front seat on this new title, don’t think the game’s multiplayer and “Zombies” mode will be slacking because of it. Sledgehammer has already been showing off some rad maps for the game’s multiplayer and have been teasing the “Nazi Zombies” campaign that looks seriously terrifying! With all this effort put into revitalizing the franchise, Call of Duty: WWII looks one of the fall’s most promising titles!

Call of Duty: WWII will release on November 3rd, 2017 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC systems! Fans who pre-order the game in advance will receive the Multiplayer Upgrade, which gives players a Weapon Unlock Token! This token will allow players to trade it in for any weapon of their choosing, potentially allowing low level players access to advanced weaponry reserved for those higher up! Also, players will have double-XP for their first four hours of their multiplayer experience. Additionally, those who pre-order will receive a “Nazi Zombie camo” skin for the game.

Main Campaign:

Set on reeling the franchise back from the setting of Space in the last game, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare, Sledgehammer Games has turned the dial back to the beginning of the franchise in Call of Duty: WWII. The game’s campaign, which has been the star of it’s marketing, will tell the raw and visceral tale of a band of brothers in the European theater of conflict. Beginning just as the Allied forces are gaining power over the Axis, the American twelve man 1st Infantry Division must fight their way through occupied France and Belgium right into the heart of Germany to finally end the war.

Sledgehammer has spent the last three years working on this game and the level of craftsmanship and dedication to realism is showing. The title features stunning visuals and almost lifelike character models to help fully realize the story and give players a way to experience the horrors of the war through this game.

Nazi Zombies Campaign:

With the game turning the dial back to the beginning, Sledgehammer Games has taken the opportunity to also take players back to the beginning of the “Zombies” mode with this year’s “Nazi Zombies” campaign! Taking the “Zombies” mode back to its roots, Call of Duty: WWII‘s “Nazi Zombies” campaign set in an alternate universe where Nazis have figured out how to bring back the dead.

While the main game’s campaign may be getting a massive overhaul, Sledgehammer has put the same amount of love and attention to the “Nazi Zombies” campaign with its amazing cast of characters and the really creepy horror vibes. Starring David Tennant, Ving Rhames, and Daredevil Season 2’s Elodie Yung the campaign will follow a group of people trying to learn of the Nazi’s secret plans and to stop them from raising the dead!

Multiplayer:

As the game is returning to the battlegrounds of World War II, the game’s multiplayer will be following suit. Featuring a classic boots on-the-ground gameplay, the game will have players playing as either the Allies or the Axis. Those playing as the Allied will be either American, British or French Resistance soldiers; those on the Axis will only play as Germans. Also instead of the classic “create-a-class” of the previous games, players will have to choose between five different classes that all have different weapons, skills, and training. Those skill classes are:

• Infantry: Mid to long range combat. Most versatile of the group.
• Airborne: Players move faster while remaining quiet. Players are faster and more silent than other players allowing for them to run around and attack quick.
• Armored: This division has the heaviest firepower, specializing in heavy machine guns and rocket launchers.
• Mountain: Long range combat. Multiple assists to help people who primarily stay as a sniper.
• Expeditionary: Shotguns used by players in this division have incendiary rounds that burn enemies to death.

Getting into a good college may make or break your future career plans, so applying for schools could be stressful. If you read this after you’ve applied for the school of your dreams, keep in mind that general advice should be taken generally, with exceptions to every rule. Otherwise, you can always pray.

Some of you are going to use this advice to help get into your dream school; others will use this in the hopes of getting into any school. I’m not here to judge, just apply.

Start early!

You want your school to consider you. You want them to want you. Expose yourself to them as early as you can and you’ll convince said school you are studious and well-organized. It also helps that if you get to them early, since the people in charge of admissions might get “tired” by the time they reach the later admissions.

Grades and test scores are still the most important

Your GPA is so important schools might even retroactively rescind people they’ve already accepted due to a serious dip in grades. Schools might overlook one low grade, presumably taken in a higher level course or an elective, but this is the time in your life your GPA can determine your fate. Sure, you’ll learn the hard way this isn’t usually the case when looking for a job, but for now, it is. That said, grades are still only the starting point.

Schools want certain skills in addition to good grades

Whether you prove yourself through a surplus of extracurricular activities or nifty letters of recommendation, keep in mind the schools usually want to see leadership, empathy, optimism, grit or perseverance. As risky as it is, though, any gimmick you have that showcases these values could make all the difference.

Take advantage of any advantage (or even disadvantage) you can!

If you are a low-income student, remember that this is one of the few times that being a low-income anything is a good thing. Schools have become more and more interested in helping students from various backgrounds have access to higher education, so always make sure to emphasize your background in your application.

You still need to pay…

Yeah, remember when I just implied a few seconds ago that it isn’t always fun having a low-income. Well, as much as colleges want to help low-income students these days, they still want money for their services. Qualified students who can’t clearly explain how they will be able to afford to attend the school in your application. Also, apply for whatever scholarships you can. Ask guidance counselors for whatever scholarships are available and that you qualify for. Make that prom dress out of duct tape!

Being a legacy won’t be your salvation!

Being a legacy was traditionally seen as a way to cement your future, though now things have changed. Giving someone preference to a student over things they can’t control, like who their parents are, is just bad PR these days. In fact, there are schools that favor first-generation students. On the reverse, it also means you have other choices than just applying to your parents’ schools.

Still, exploiting connections is never a bad idea!

It’s usually good advice to apply to as many schools as you can, both to give you choices and because you won’t get accepted everywhere. That said, the schools themselves still want to be your first choice. Try to make a personal connection to the school, even trying to contact officials to interview. Once again, this isn’t the best advice when looking for a job; applying excessively for a job or even at a single company is an easy way to get yourselves blacklisted.

Apply only once!

Usually, after you submit your application, you’ll get a confirmation email. If not, try to contact their admissions office to confirm that they actually got your application. Applying more than once is an easy way to get yourself blacklisted. Strangely enough, this also applies to job applications. Also, to be clear, it is also safer to apply for college online than by mail. Once again, this is also good advice for job applications.

Natasha Henstridge was watching a movie on Brett Ratner’s couch when she fell asleep. She was a 19-year-old fashion model; he was an up-and-coming music video director in his early 20s. They had been hanging out in front of the TV with friends at his New York apartment.

But when Henstridge woke up, the others had left. She was alone with Ratner. She got up to leave, Henstridge said, but he blocked the doorway with his body and wouldn’t budge. He began touching himself, she said, then forced her to perform oral sex.

“He strong-armed me in a real way. He physically forced himself on me,” she said. “At some point, I gave in and he did his thing.”

In the LA Times report, Henstridge and five other women, including Olivia Munn, accused Ratner of a range of sexual harassment and misconduct.

Georges St-Pierre, a native of French-speaking Quebec, survived a difficult childhood to become an MMA star and is now set to come out of retirement for a Madison Square Gardens showdown.

“There is nothing bigger than this,” St-Pierre said in a statement over the upcoming fight, adding, “I’m fighting for the world title against the guy who has the record for most wins in UFC history. I’m fighting for my legacy. I’m fighting also to be among an elite group of fighters to hold the title in two different divisions. … It’s never been done before. If I do it I’ll be the first one to do it. I can’t think of a better scenario. I’m very excited,” according to MMA Junkie.

Holding the UFC welterweight title for the better part of a decade, St-Pierre has had his highs and lows before his hiatus; let’s take a look at all that led up to the November fight.

St-Pierre’s net-worth is around £18.3 million

His current net worth is said to be around £18.3 million (around $24.3 million in USD), according to The Sun. His rise to such a high net worth might surprisingly have had origins in St-Pierre fighting off against bullies as a kid.

The Early Years

St-Pierre was bullied a lot as a kid, with kids stealing his lunch money and clothes; as he detailed on his own website, “Being bullied when I was a little kid played a huge role in who I am today. It made me.” To defend himself against bullies, St-Pierre took karate to learn how to defend himself. Eventually, he took up wrestling, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing at the age of 16. Having also found work as a bouncer, he eventually went professional at 21.

2004-2006

St-Pierre made his professional debut at UFC 46, in 2004, defeating Karo Parisyan, later beating Jay Hieron in the first round of his next match. He eventually won the UFC Welterweight Championship in 2006 against Matt Hughes.

2007-2013

That said, you cannot win everything and that eventually fell to St-Pierre. On April 7, 2007, St-Pierre lost his title in his fight with Matt Sera. His last professional defeat, he spent the next six years fighting back, eventually winning the belt back from Serra in a rematch. Proving his worth, he hasn’t lost a single title defense since then. Eventually, he retired in November 2013, after a tenth successful defense of his title.

2014-Present

Upon vacating the title and taking a hiatus from UFC, he announced plans to return to professional fighting in 2016. With plans to return to his next match earlier this year being canceled, he will finally make his return on November 4, 2017, at UFC 217.

St-Pierre is hopeful about the future, especially the newest fight. “I’m very happy,” he added in a statement, “This has been four years in the making working very hard. I never took a break. I’ve always trained, training for fun. Now I’m training for performance, and I have one goal in mind, and that’s to become world champion again.”
