As we enter one of the most brutal bye weeks of the NFL season, it becomes particularly essential to find an underrated playmaker that can step in and be productive immediately. At times, this can simply be a player that may not be the most athletically inclined but garners enough playing time and target volume to offset a replacement level skill set. However, if you can discover someone that is both highly productive and physically gifted, you’ll find that you can have the best of both worlds. While the Patriots running back corps seemed murky in terms of a standout rusher initially, one name, in particular, has emerged as a versatile talent that can do it all on the field.

While Dion Lewis was underutilized during the first three weeks of the season, Lewis has been on the field much more often since week 4 as he has been present for 27 run plays per game (17th amongst running backs). During the last four weeks, the Patriots have trusted Lewis progressively more and more as his rushing attempts have increased noticeably since a matchup with the Panthers (rushing attempts weeks 4-7: 4, 7, 11, 13). With this volume increase, Lewis has been able to display his elusiveness consistently (juke rate of 54.9%, best amongst running backs) while using his underrated speed to garner crucial yardage (5.3 yards per carry, 6th amongst running backs).

However, Lewis is so much more than an effective rusher between the tackles. Although running back James White is the understandable favorite to catch passes out of the backfield, Lewis has proven to be equally as reliable in this department thanks to his strong hands. While Lewis has only been targeted eight times this season, he has caught all of the passes that have been thrown his way. Although this may not show up as particularly impressive on a stat sheet, Lewis is the ninth best rusher in the league in production premium (measures a players productivity across league average situations and discounts non-standard situations such as 2-minute drills and garbage time). What this means is that Lewis is highly versatile and can easily step in for James White (pass-catcher) or Mike Gillislee (pure rusher) in various situations.

While Lewis may not be the most physical or electric running back in the NFL, he makes the most of his dynamic skill set and has proven to be efficient in whichever way the Patriots decide to utilize him. Considering Lewis is finally getting the volume to match his athletic abilities, he is definitely an intriguing flex play that is more than worthy to start during bye weeks.

Fats Domino, a New Orleans icon known for his songs, “Ain’t That a Shame,” “Blue Monday” and “I’m Walkin’,” has died at the age of 89.

The cause of death has been said to be ‘natural causes’

According to TMZ, Fats Domino died of natural causes and his body had been released to a funeral home without an autopsy, as confirmed by the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office. He died in New Orleans, surrounded by family and friends; he is believed to have been survived by his eight children by his late wife of 60 years, Rosemary Domino, who lost her life in 2008, as well as his grandchildren.

He was said to be one of New Orleans’ ‘greatest treasures’

Domino had been of French Creole descent and was born and bred in New Orleans. Said to be deeply embedded in New Orleans, he became a prominent figure in the relief efforts for Hurricane Katrina, with his own home being destroyed in the storm, with Domino having to be rescued by the damage by boat, according to Nola.

A prolific singer with a career spanning decades

As a musician, he released nearly 59 albums over a period of five decades, well into the 2000’s, garnering over 25 gold singles. He also sold over 65 million records during his lifetime, according to his official website. According to ABC, Domino was awarded the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1986, the National Medal of Arts in 1998 and was also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Rolling Stone had also ranked him the 25th greatest artist of all time.

With its mind-bending plot lines, mile-a-minute jokes, or gorgeously creative animation, Rick and Morty is just a step ahead of its competitors.

While the show’s third season was both overly delayed and supremely hyped, it surpassed expectations by miles as it was far and away the strongest season yet, meaning that Rick and Morty and its creators now have officially achieved the clout where they can essentially get away with anyway. In the commercial set in the Rick and Morty-verse, Rick takes a cash payment from Old Spice to introduce Morty to some Old Spice mascots at 3 a.m., but these aren’t typical mascots. They’re anthropomorphic spray bottles capable of stealing, wrecking things, and eating. Specifically, the mascot known as “Swagger” feeds upon a beloved side character who has seemingly met its surreal, cologne-scented demise.

That’s the butter-passing robot from one of our favorite episodes, “Something Ricked This Way Comes”, in which Rick makes a robot that can question its own existence and has a crisis when it realizes its only purpose is to hand Rick the butter dish at the dinner table. Perhaps it’s for the best that its bleak journey has swaggered past the finish line. Welcome to the afterlife, pal.

The ad itself is a reference to a scene from “M. Night Shaym-Aliens!”, which was also referenced in a sponsored clip from 2015 when Rick similarly barged into Morty’s room at night to introduce him to anthropomorphic Carl’s Jr./Hardee’s hamburger mascots.

Hopefully, there’s another universe where another version of myself chose not to play right into Old Spice’s marketing ploy. But not this universe.

Inevitably, in fantasy and in reality, teams are required to adopt the “next man up” mentality at some point during the season. While some franchises have the depth to effectively fulfill this mantra, it’s almost always an easier said than done proposition. However, there are times that a slightly above average talent can quickly step up and easily fill the shoes of a coveted talent. With Dolphins wideout DaVante Parker suffering from an ankle injury that has held him out of the last two games, third-string wide receiver Kenny Stills has functioned more like a star pass-catcher rather than simply a replacement level weapon.

Not only has Stills come into his own in the absence of Parker, he has actually made his respective quarterbacks look sensational whenever he has been targeted (QB rating when targeted: 123.5, 7th amongst receivers). This impressive production has been due largely in part to Stills being fearless when catching contested balls, something that has helped both Matt Moore an Jay Cutler be more proficient than they normally are (75% contested catch rate, third amongst receivers).

As a result of his playmaking ability, Stills has been one of the best in terms of production premium, meaning he is effective in league average situations (6th amongst receivers in this regard). Despite being targeted only five times while in the red zone (24th amongst receivers), he has converted four of those targets into touchdowns (8th amongst receivers). This type of big-play ability allows Stills to be relied upon as both a deep threat and as a sure-handed pass catcher in the end zone.

While Stills may not receive the same volume in terms of target shares once Parker returns, it’s hard to imagine the confident wideout being shelved considering what he has done in the limited time he has been on the field. Assuming Parker is out for this week, Stills is an intriguing wide receiver two play and should be a week-to-week flex play going forward.

1947 – 1956

Fats Domino began his music career in 1947, as part of the Solid Senders, at the Hideaway Club, in New Orleans. The bandleader Billy Diamond nicknamed the young musician “Fats”  because Domino reminded him of the renowned pianists Fats Waller and Fats Pichon.

In 1949, Fats Domino received national attention with his first recording “The Fat Man,” which would go onto to sell one million records by 1953. At that time, selling one million records was an unprecedented feat for a rock ‘n’ roll musician. Though, Domino truly hit the mainstream in 1955 with his hit “Ain’t That A Shame.”

His 1956 song “Blueberry Hill” became Domino’s next biggest hit, reaching No. 2 in the Top 40 and earning the number one spot on the R&B chart for 11 weeks. That year, he also appeared in two films: Shake, Rattle & Rock, and The Girl Can’t Help It.

1956 – Present

Domino debut single “The Fat Man” came out with Imperial Records, and he stayed with the label until it closed down in 1963. “I stuck with them until they sold out,” said Domino in 1979. He recorded 60 singles for the company, with 40 songs in the top 10 of the R&B chart, and 11 in the top 10 of the pop chart.

In 1963, Domino moved onto ABC-Paramount Records. The company gave Domino a new producer and arranger, which altered the musician’s style by adding a countrypolitan-style vocal chorus to most of his new recordings, which may have affected his chart performance in a negative way. While with the company, he released 11 singles, several reaching the Top 100, while only one song hit the Top 40 (“Red Sails in the Sunset”, 1963).

The legendary R&B musician continued making music up until 2007, when he retired from the industry. He was one of the first people to be inducted in the Rock ‘N’ Roll Hall of Fame, back in 1986. He passed away on Wednesday, October 25, 2017

TMZ reports that Bruce Paddock was taken into custody on the morning of Wednesday, October 25, in North Hollywood at an assisted living home on charges of child pornography.

According to the report, police were tipped that there was child pornography on Paddock’s computer. Authorities then obtained a search warrant. The investigation began months before his brother Stephen killed 58 people and injured over 500 others on October 1.

The arrest was made by a joint task force that included the FBI and LAPD. Authorities say they found child porn images on his computer.

Bruce Paddock was arrested early Wednesday in North Hollywood. Details about the investigation that led to the arrest were not immediately available.

NBC4 is attempting to confirm reports that Bruce Paddock was arrested at an assisted living center. Aerial video showed investigators in a lot behind the building in the 5300 block of Laurel Canyon Boulevard, where authorities confirmed an arrest was made Wednesday morning.

Bruce Paddock spoke to NBC News following the Oct. 1 shooting at an outdoor music festival in Las Vegas that left 59 dead. He said he had been questioned by the FBI about his brother. Nearly a month after the shooting, authorities are still attempting to determine the motive behind the shooting, the worst in modern U.S. history.

Bruce Paddock is not the same brother that was interviewed in Orlando following the shooting.

On October 1, Paddock opened fire on a crowd of 22,000 concertgoers from his 32nd-floor hotel window from the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino. The incident became the largest mass shooting in U.S. history, leaving 58 dead and over 500 injured.

Vodka has validated the existence of the potato for years upon years, but it can certainly be scary thinking about what alcohol can do to your health. It’s 2017, why can’t we have invented vodka that doesn’t screw up your liver by now? Well, an Indian researcher has developed a compound that will allow just that to become reality.

Can this really be a reality? Vodka that won’t ruin my liver!

Harsha Chigurupati developed this compound, said to protect against liver and DNA damage caused by alcohol consumption, and gave it the name NTX (meaning “no-tox”). In a study coming from Chigurupati, biomarkers said that liver damage had been lower by 93% for people who consumed NTX-infused vodka as opposed to regular vodka. Later studies showed that the NTX-infused drink also had lower results of DNA damage.

What matter of witchcraft is this? What is this vodka made of?

The NTX-infused vodka is made of three primary ingredients: potassium sorbate (a food preservative and anti-oxidant), glycyrrhizin (an anti-inflammatory created from licorice root) and mannitol (a diuretic that helps the body to lose water).

Ramon Bataller, a professor at the University of Pittsburgh and a liver physician, said in a statement, according to Daily Mail, that while the drink seems promising, he is reportedly concerned over the effects of the mannitol, which is traditionally used to reduce intracranial pressure for comatose people. Added to that, there is also concern that most research concerning the drink is to0 early to determine any long-term effects and that any health improvements gained by NTX will distract people from other health problems caused by alcohol, like addiction or birth defects.

In fact, the United States Alcohol and Tobacco and Trade Bureau already rejected a petition from Chigurupati, warning that, “The proposed labeling and advertising statements create a misleading impression that consumption of alcohol beverages infused with NTX will protect consumers from certain serious health risks associated with both moderate and heavy levels of alcohol consumption.”

Although Chigurupati is currently arranging with regulators to publicly verify the compound’s health claims, New Jersey-based spirits brand Bellion is already selling NTX-infused vodka in around 11 different states and is planning to extend their reach by 2018.

Who cares about all this? How does it taste?!

After all, people already drink traditional vodka in spite of the risk it can cause to their bodies, so the most important part is how the new drink tastes. You might worry it’s like diet soda; it won’t kill you as quickly but the taste almost makes you wish that it did. According to Daily Mail, Giuseppe González, who opened the Suffolk Arms on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, the drink tastes “sweet as hell.”

Auburn, Alabama police have arrested and charged an 18-year-old freshman in an alleged rape case.

According to a statement from the Auburn Police Division, Jubal D. Camp, an 18-year-old freshman1 at Auburn University, was charged with first-degree rape on Tuesday, October 24.

The report states that an unidentified 18-year-old woman reported to Auurn police that she was forcibly sexually assaulted by Camp at her residence on October 8. Camp was an acquaintance of the victim’s.

The Plainsman, the school newspaper for Auburn University, says that police said further investigation led to the discovery of physical evidence that connected Camp to the crime.

According to Auburn University Records, Camp is a freshman in his first semester at Auburn.

After his arrest, Camp was transported to the Lee County Jail and is being held on a $100,000 bond.

Jennifer Sterger, who first was in the news back in 2010 due to the Brett Favre scandal, is making heading again with her accusations against ESPN.

According to a Tweet from Sterger, she endured sexual harassment from an executive who still works there as she was attempting to land a job at the network.

Sterger, the now 33-year-old former Playboy model, claims that she was brought to a strip club by higher-ups and given a tour of ESPN’s Connecticut headquarters to show others she was “just as f***able in person” in the tweet accusing the network of inappropriate conduct.

She said that when she was 23, she traveled to Charlotte for multiple meetings to discuss in-air work. After testing for the potential on-screen role, an employee invited her to a club with other coworkers, which she would eventually see was a strip club.

“I was extremely uncomfortable by the situation and incredibly awkward as I had never stepped foot in one before.,’ she wrote. “I had to watch as my male coworkers got lap-dances from girls while they teased me about how I was uncomfortable and didn’t want to participate.”

She also recounted a second incident where the same unnamed employee “who had by now risen in the ranks” invited her to the network headquarters in Bristol, Connecticut for a job interview.

Sterger said ESPN then canceled her return car trip to New Jersey, and instead was told to join the employee  who was heading to the same area. The employee then asked her to dinner, but Sterger declined.

After taking Game 1 at home behind a dominant effort from Clayton Kershaw, the Los Angeles Dodgers are looking to ride the resurgent Rich Hill to a 2-0 series lead. That will be no easy task, though, as the Houston Astros will be pitching Justin Verlander tonight, who has been utterly dominant since coming over from the Detroit Tigers in a midseason trade, and especially this postseason, where his ERA has been less than 1.

Verlander, the 2017 ALCS MVP, held the Yankees to one earned run over 16 innings to record one of the finest single-series pitching performances ever. However, Verlander needs to shake off his career 7.20 ERA in three World Series starts with the Detroit Tigers.

On the mound for the Dodgers will be 37-year-old Rich Hill. The veteran lefty pitcher makes his first World Series start after pitching in independent league baseball as recently as 2015. While Hill didn’t exceed five innings in either of his first two postseason starts, he allowed only three runs on six hits combined in those outings.

If the Astros want to have a real shot at winning this series, they have to win at least one game on the road, so look for Houston to give it all they’ve got tonight to steal a win before they head back home to Texas.

In order to help do their part for those affected by Hurricane Maria, Brown University is offering tuition-free enrollment for students from the University of Puerto Rico.

‘The opportunity for us to welcome exceptional students and scholars to College Hill…’

According to a press release from Brown, the school will enroll up to 50 students, even helping them with travel and housing. “Partnering with the University of Puerto Rico offers the opportunity for us to welcome exceptional students and scholars to College Hill to continue their research and education while their campuses work to reopen,” Brown Provost Richard Locke explained, according to the release.

The school also aims to help those affected in Puerto Rico by sending needed items. “Even as the Brown community is supporting relief agencies in providing food, water, medicine and other basic living essentials to the people of Puerto Rico, we also are contributing in ways that align with our core strengths of teaching and research,” added Brown President Christina Paxson.

The school is also accepting faculty members from the University of Puerto Rico. So far, while concerning students, 15 have enrolled so far with over 60 students have applied, according to The Hill.

This is not the first time Brown had offered aid to students displaced by a storm; back in 2005, the school accepted students who were displaced by Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans, according to NBC.

South Park continues its 21st season tonight with a Halloween episode “Sons a Witches” It will be the sixth of 10 episodes in the 21st season, and it is the 283rd overall episode.

The official synopsis for tonight’s episode, “Sons a Witches”:

“At the annual Halloween get-together, a witch casts a spell that terrorizes everyone in town.”

After using a serialized format for the last couple of seasons, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have hinted that they will be going back to the show’s old format of standalone episodes, and will focus less on satire, and more on “Cartman dressing up like a robot and screwing with Butters.”

Renewed through to season 23 in 2019, Comedy Central put out a statement to celebrate the announcement of the show’s renewal:

“South Park remains the bedrock of Comedy Central and we are thrilled that new episodes will continue to entertain audiences for years to come,” said Michele Ganeless, president of Comedy Central, in a press release. “The series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in it continues to draw generations of new fans.”

One “crash for cash” scammer was caught in the act, as she hurled herself onto the hood of a taxi in Blackpool, England. Good thing the whole scene was captured on camera or that cabbie’s insurance company would probably be paying that trickster through the nose. The cabbie even claims to have been accosted by the scammer’s male companion, who ran up to the window of the cab, shouting, screaming, and even threatning to kill the driver. Unfortunately, that part of the story wasn’t caught on camera (or at least it wasn’t released to the internet).

The scheme went down this past Sunday in Blackpool, Lancashire. In the video, the woman is seen sprinting before turning 90 degrees and hurling herself at the stationary car. Therefore, the car didn’t her, she hit the car. This scammer also left a hole on the plastic charge door connected to the car’s hood, which will likely cost the cabbie’s company £500 to fix. After throwing herself on the vehicle, the woman fell to the floor and played dead while another driver simply avoided her by veering around the scammer playing oppossum.

The cabbie said, “Other drivers must have thought it looked that obviously fake that they just went round her as well. If it was real, somebody would have stopped – but no-one stopped to help. The whole incident is just unbelievable.”

Here’s how the cabbie remembered the incident, “From what I can remember she didn’t really try and jump on it she just dived straight at the car. It was like it happened in slow motion. I just thought ‘what an idiot’ – I knew straight away what was happening. She was trying to get a claim from a big and respectable company. I was stopped at the traffic lights when I saw them both running across the road. She then started doubling back and heading for me.”

“What an idiot” is right.

Premier Cabs driver Christopher Stewart, 33, claimed that the scammer’s male companion ran up to him, yelling and screaming. The guy told the cabbie, “I’m going to kill you.” But the cabbie said he wasn’t scared. “I was a boxer in the army so wasn’t that worried about the bloke who ran at me but the incident did put me off. After I reported it to the office I finished for the night as I didn’t want to go back out.”

Stewart said, “Nothing like this has happened to me before. Sometimes people get a bit lairy, that’s a usual Saturday night, but this is something else.”

A Lancashire Police spokesman said, “We have had a report of this vehicle crime and we are investigating a fraud-related offence.”

Fresh off a 119-112 loss to the New Orlean Pelicans, the Lakers will have the challenge of shutting down Otto Porter (18.3 PPG) and Bradley Beal (23.3 PPG).
