With seven weeks of college football in the books, there is a clash between two top 15 programs. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are currently 5-1 and are looking to prove that they belong in the college football playoff conversation. Notre Dame’s only loss this season was a one point defeat at the hands of top five ranked Georgia which means that if Notre Dame wins out for the remainder of the season, it will truly have an elite resume. As for USC, the Trojans are currently 6-1 with their one loss coming at the hands of ranked Washington State. Both teams are on the outside looking into a college football playoff spot but a win against a fellow top 15 team would definitely help.

Notre Dame’s success is due to star running back Josh Adams. This season, Adams already has over 700 yards rushing along with five rushing touchdowns. Adams is currently averaging a whopping 9.0 yards per carry and looks like one of the best running backs in all of college football. If Adams gets going behind the Irish’s elite offensive line, there is no chance that USC will be able to win this contest.

USC’s success is due to star quarterback Sam Darnold. Last season, Darnold threw for 31 touchdowns and over 3000 yards. Darnold was the catalyst for the Rose Bowl victory over Penn State as he threw for over 450 yards and five touchdowns. However, Darnold has had some turnover issues this season. Despite throwing for 15 touchdowns this season, he has also thrown nine interceptions. With the playmakers that Notre Dame have on defense, Darnold better be careful with the football. If he does not, this game might get out of hand extremely quickly.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Notre Dame. I think that Adams will have a big game due to the injuries on USC’s offensive line. Darnold is a great quarterback but I think that Notre Dame has the better all-around team. I think Notre Dame wins by a touchdown.

Back in July, we lost Chester Bennington, the lead singer of Linkin Park. To honor his memory, a concert will be held at the Hollywood Bowl, the “Linkin Park and Friends Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington.”

Featuring the surviving members of the band, this is the first time the band has performed on stage together since Bennington’s death. While the concert is already sold-out, the band has decided to live-stream the event on their YouTube page, allowing fans from all over the world to see the tribute being made to Bennington.

According to Rolling Stone, Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda said that “I know that for some of the guys in the band, getting on stage is more scary than other guys in the band. But I will say that for all of us, it’s definitely the thing that we want to do. It feels like the right way to celebrate Chester.”

The Los Angeles concert will be one-night-only, featuring the talents of Blink-182, Korn’s Jonathan Davis, Machine Gun Kelly, System of a Down’s Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and John Dolmayan, and Kiiara, as well as members of Avenged Sevenfold, Yellowcard and Bring Me the Horizon. Proceeds from the benefit concert will go to Music for Relief’s One More Light Fund.

Although they are both forms of escapist entertainment, people openly who like to read books usually are considered far more intelligent than people who, for the moment, openly are fond of books. That said, at the very least, both groups actually aren’t exclusive. Twitter is certainly making that clear with a new trending hashtag, the #CartoonishBooks, which combines the name of a classic book with a popular cartoon show. This either proves that people can have more than one interest without any contradiction whatsoever or at least that cartoon lovers know the names of books.

Well, it’s a start!

Honestly, the whole thing has merit. Don’t kid yourself…the only reason you’ve heard of half of these books before is that puns based on them were used for the titles of episodes of The Simpsons!

Be warned: I think some people snuck in a few Shakespeare plays, which technically aren’t books, in here!

Time has released a list of the top 50 cheapest countries to live in. Let’s look at the top 10 (and congratulations if you happen to be living there already!)

Four factors were used to determine which countries were cheaper than others: local purchasing power index, rent index, groceries index and consumer price index. As a base, most were originally compared to counterpart rates within New York City.

10. Macedonia

Local Purchasing Power: 49.7% Lower (When Compared to NYC)
Rent: 94% Cheaper
Groceries: 73.3% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 68.6% Cheaper

Located just north of Greece, Macedonia was said to have one of the lowest rents out of all the 50 countries looked at in the study. Textiles, food processing, and oil serve as Macedonia’s main industries.

9. Czech Republic

Local Purchasing Power: 8.4% Lower
Rent: 87.8% Cheaper
Groceries: 63% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 57.7% Cheaper

Bordering Germany, Austria and Poland, a balance between lower costs and a higher local purchasing power helped the Czech Republic remain in the top 10.

8. Paraguay

Local Purchasing Power: 49% Lower
Rent: 91.7% Cheaper
Groceries: 75.3% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 69.7% Cheaper

With sugar, cement and textiles serving as this South American country’s main industries, the country has low costs throughout the indexes!

7. Oman

Local Purchasing Power: 57.5%
Rent: 71.7% Cheaper
Groceries: 48.9% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 44.4% Cheaper

Collecting its wealth in oil and gas resources, this wealthy nation still has one of the highest local purchasing powers within the 50 countries in the study.

6. Zambia

Local Purchasing Power: 50% Higher
Rent: 68.1% Cheaper
Groceries: 59.1% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 44.6% Cheaper

Landlocked Zambia actually has some of the highest rent of the countries within the study, but still made the ranks thanks to its high local purchasing powers.

5. Kazakhstan

Local Purchasing Power: 38.2% Lower
Rent: 88.9% Cheaper
Groceries: 74.8% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 68.7% Cheaper

Bordering Russia and China, don’t listen to whatever Borat told you about this country. Cheap living exists thanks to the low index of groceries and consumer goods.

4. Saudi Arabia

Local Purchasing Power: 33.6% Higher
Rent: 85.9% Cheaper
Groceries: 49.4% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 49.4% 33.8% Cheaper

Groceries are still more expensive, and even consumer goods are pretty high, but this wealthy nation still has an impressive local purchasing power when compared to New York City.

3. Kosovo

Local Purchasing Power: 33.8% Lower
Rent: 91.5% Cheaper
Groceries: 75.8%Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 72.6% Cheaper

Found within Eastern Europe, this country actually scores pretty well when it came to consumer goods and groceries. Rents are also said to be pretty low.

Local Purchasing Power: 20.9% Lower
Rent: 95.2% Cheaper
Groceries: 74.4% Cheaper
Local Goods/Services: 74.9% Cheaper

Asia’s biggest claim to fame on this list went to India and was the most populous country mentioned on the list. That said, living in India can be pretty cheap. For example, in Kolkata, a single person could live for less than $300 a month.

Groceries: 71% Cheaper

South Africa has a higher local purchasing power than New York City, which combined with cheap rent, groceries and local goods/services, helped give this country the #1 spot on the list. Honestly, the Gatsby sandwiches alone give South Africa a special place in my heart.

#CompassionIn5Words has sought to teach people that even the simplest ideas can have a large impact on people. While most people seemed to obey the five-word rule, given that the whole point of the posts is meant to promote compassion, I’m sure giving or taking a few words here and there is perfectly okay.

In popular culture, dentists either have two reactions to Halloween. They either hate it, as giving out free, sugary candy to kids represents everything they represent, or the sadistically love the holiday because of all the extra work it gives them. There is no in-between. Of course, real life might keep things complicated.

One dentist in Hoboken has a special plan to help save children from themselves and their own candy gluttony with a special plan: trading their candy for money. Lucas Dental, on Bloomfield Street, as lead by Dr. Robin Lucas, has dubbed the idea the Candy Buy-Back program. Kids can win five dollars and a toothbrush for every five pounds of candy they give to the dentist. Kids should make sure that what they bring in is pretty heavy since there is no official weighing system. According to The New York Post, “We don’t weigh it, we just hold it up in the air and say, ‘This seems like five pounds,’” explained Lucas in a statement.

Wait, don’t dentists usually give away free toothbrushes?

Now, despite the reputation dentists have when it comes to candy, the sugary, tooth-rotting sweets are not sent to the furnace. In fact, they are saved for a good cause. They are sent to troops deployed overseas, specifically through local bases. “It’s a win-win-win situation,” Lucas added, “The parents win, the kids win and our troops win.”

Reportedly, Lucas was inspired by her own children to create the program, as they had a similar program at their school. “They came home from school five years ago and showed me a flyer,” she explained, adding, “Someone else had already been collecting candy and sending it to different branches of the service.” One similar concept in the Halloween mascot, the Switch Witch, which supposedly gives children presents in exchange for offerings of candy.

She’s found similar success over on Monday Night Raw, as she was sent over to the red brand following the 2017 WWE Superstar Shake-up.

Mickie James returned to a WWE ring back in January 2017, ironically to assist her opponent for WWE TLC Alexa Bliss in her steel cage match against Becky Lynch on an episode of SmackDown Live.

James is a 6-time champion in the WWE: a former 5-time WWE Women’s Champion as well as a 1-time WWE Divas Champion. She’s also a 3-time TNA Knocksout Champion, and has won numerous other championships on the independent wrestling scene.

The Virginia native first appeared on WWE television back in 2005, as she played the character of an obsessed, stalker-like fan of then Women’s Champion Trish Stratus. James went onto wrestle and defeat Stratus at 2006’s WrestleMania 22 event.

A moon tunnel that has recently been discovered is said by scientists to actually be fit for a potential colony, something argued to have existed by scientists even before the final moonwalk in 1972.

Reportedly, lava from ancient volcanoes could have created these voids, similar to how volcanoes formed the Kaumana lava tubes in Hawaii. Beneath the surface, these tunnels would be protected from meteors and radiation, even retaining evidence of the moon’s early history and origins. Over the years, it has been the dream of scientist and science-fiction writer to cave out these tunnels and transform them into bases for lunar explorers, and that might just be a start, but these tunnels proved difficult to find.

However, Japanese researchers believed to have found proof of the existence of the moon tunnels, using its Kaguya orbiter, named after a princess who lived on the moon in Japanese mythology. Back in 2009, the orbiter took a picture of a hole that, just last week, has been said to be a clue to possibly finding the tunnels.

According to The Washington Post, in a letter written by a team of Japanese and American researchers found in Geophysical Research Letters, “The floor of the hole extended at least several meters eastward and westward under a ceiling of two other holes.”

“Their existence has not been confirmed until now,” Junichi Haruyama, one of the paper’s authors, according to a statement with Agence France-Presse.

The Australian-native first arrived on the Monday Night Raw roster in January 2014 and evolved into a comedy character and side-kick of Santino Marella. Over the years, Emma’s persona has shifted from a comedic role to a serious and ruthless character with still some humorous undertones.

Asuka is looking to make an impact

Asuka tore through the NXT roster like it was nobody’s business. She’s undefeated and is recognized as the longest reigning NXT Champion ever. NXT General Manager William Regal has named Asuka, “one of the greatest champions in WWE history.”

She began her wrestling career in 2004 over in “the land of the rising sun.” While wrestling in Japan as Kana, she won numerous championships, including winning the Smash Divas Championship twice, the JWP Openweight Championship, the Reina World (and Women’s) Tag Team Championship, and much more.

The Japanese super-athlete is hoping to make quick work of Emma tonight.

From week to week, college football fans are often treated to a smorgasbord of highly competitive contests that drastically alter the complexion of the competitive landscape. However, there are times where highly ranked programs live up to their lofty pedestals and then some. This was one of those weeks. Only one of the top 10 teams from last week was switched out with Oklahoma State and Oklahoma dropping one stop each to make room for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish as the 9th ranked team in the country.

AP Top 25 College Football Rankings 2017: Week 9

The only truly meaningful change in the AP rankings this week was the drop of USC from 11 to 21 after being manhandled by the Fighting Irish on both defense and offense. The only new addition to the rankings this week are the Iowa State Cyclones at 25, who more than earned their place amongst the college football elite by outgunning two of the more prolific offenses in the Big 12 (Texas Tech, Oklahoma). As a side note, this will be the final week that the Ap Poll will be considered the official rankings for college football. Starting on Halloween, the College Football Playoff committee will be the deciders of the actual rankings until the end of the season.

Unsurprisingly, the Michigan Wolverines were left out of the rankings this week after losing to a far superior Penn State program on the road. While Michigan does have a playoff caliber defense, their inept offense as it pertains to their passing attack has exposed them as being one of the most predictable teams in college football.

This year, October not only marks Halloween, the start of Dia de Los Muertos and the end Octoberfest (which technically starts in September, but let’s put a pin in that for now), it also marks the NASA’s Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter’s 100th day on the moon. Keep in mind, this is using a complicated definition of the word “day.”

I’d vacation on the moon if I could, it would never end!

Those who keep up with astronomy may remember that the orbiter was launched on June 18, 2009, so you might wonder why it took so long to reach the 100-day milestone. Now, the timing is a bit complicated, since it is not 100 days from our perspective, but from the moon’s perspective, as days on the moon are longer. To put it into context, a lunar day is 708.7 hours or 29.53 Earth days.

Given the complicated nature of comparing the time between the earth and the moon, we can understand why NASA celebrated the 100-day mark instead of waiting for the orbiter’s annual lunar birthday.

The orbiter was originally going to last only a year (presumably an Earth year), but received various extensions over the years, according to Space.com.

On the last episode of Monday Night Raw, Fox assaulted Banks backstage following their match, where the foxy one tapped. Can Sasha get get pay back on a wild fox tonight? Or will the crazed Alicia show the world why foxy is fierce?

Alicia Fox must be frustrated and tired of seeing new talent being pushed to the front of the line while the foxy one has been here for years. Fox snapped and brutally attacked Sasha Banks last Monday. She even attacked a referee too.

Fox is a former WWE Divas Champion, but hasn’t been champion in the WWE since 2010. She’s been wallowing in the background of the division in a seven-year drought. This Sunday, she’ll want to decisively defeat Banks and once again get noticed as an imposing force in the Raw women’s division.

But can she really take out “The Boss”?

Sasha Banks will definitely be seeking a measure of retribution this Sunday against Fox. She may have made the foxy one tap out on Monday, but that didn’t stop the sour grapes Fox from sneak-attacking her backstage later that night.

Banks is a former 4-time WWE Raw Women’s Champion and a former NXT Women’s Champion. She is competed in the first-ever women’s Hell in a Cell match, alongside Charlotte Flair. That match was also the first time in WWE history, where two women faced off in the main event.

She’s a main event talent who finds herself on the pre-show of a B pay-per-view. But this probably only a filler feud until they can find something better for “The Boss” to do. Banks is looking to make quick work of her opponent tonight, and receive some revenge for last week’s attack.

WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs is live from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Tonight, we’ll see the in-ring return of “The Olympic Gold Medalist” Kurt Angle as he replaces Roman Reigns’ spot in the main event to fight alongside Shield members Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose to battle The Miz, The Bar, “The Big Red Machine” Kane, and “The Monster Among Men” Braun Strowman.

Tonight’s show will also feature the WWE debut of Asuka, as she battles Emma. WWE Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss will defend her title against Mickie James in another big-time women’s division match.

Kickoff match: Sasha Banks vs. Alicia Fox

Both ladies talk trash to each other to start off the match. Sasha tries to slap in the Banks Statement from jump street, Alicia Fox counters and takes counter. Fox knocks Banks down with a tilt-a-while backbreaker. Fox then sends Sasha crashing outside the ring. But Banks makes it makes it in the ring before the 10 count.

Fox continues the assault with a northern lights suplex. Fox continues the offense, but Sasha turns the tide. Banks ends the match with a backstabber followed by a Banks Statement. Fox taps out.

Emma vs. Asuka

Asuka dominates the early going of the match, slapping in a submission early on, but Emma breaks out. Emma shows no respect for Asuka, and hits her with a hard slap. Asuka eats that slap and smiles.

Both ladies run the ropes and Asuka takes down Emma with a hip attack. But Emma turns the tide and knocks her to the floor.

After more and back forth action, Asuka ends Emma with a German suplex followed by a kick and an Asuka Lock for the win. Emma taps out.

The Brian Kendrick & “Gentleman” Jack Gallagher vs. Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann

The cruiserweights tore the house down tonight. Kendrick starts off the match, beating down Swann who tags in Alexander. The fight ends up outside the ring, encouraging Cedric Alexander to run the ropes and dive out onto his opponents.

Cedric and Swann double-team the villainous Kendrick. Cedric nails Kendrick with a tilt-ta-whirl backbreaker. Kendrick turns the tide and Gallagher stomps Swann.

After a back-and-forth match, Kendrick has the Captain’s Hook applied on Alexander. Swann breaks up the submission, as he dives from the top rope onto both men with a big Phoenix Splash. Gallagher hits Alexander a stiff kick and a hard head-butt to Swann. Alexander comes back into the equation and levels Gallagher with a Lumbar Check for the win.

Mickie James takes control early on, pushing Alexa Bliss towards the ropes. Bliss laughs and hits James with an elbow. But Mickie is back to her feet as kick as a bullet. Bliss attacks Mickie’s arm, and the referee issues a warning.

Bliss won’t let up attacking Mickie’s arm.

After more back and forth, Mickie turns the tide and levels Bliss with a flying dropkick. But James isn’t able to put away Bliss for the two count. Both ladies tangle. Bliss finishes off the match, spiking Mickie to the mat with a DDT.

WWE Cruiserweight Championship match: Kalisto vs. Enzo Amore

Kalisto charges towards Enzo. But Enzo uses the ropes to his advantage to get Kalisto off of him. Enzo turns the tide with an elbow to the face. Kalisto comes back with a furry of offense, from a head-scissors to an enziguri. Kalisto mocks Enzo’s dance routine. Enzo runs in the ring, but is sent right back out. Kalisto hits a big suicide dive.

After a back-and-forth match, Enzo pokes Kalisto in the eye when the referee is distracted. Enzo hits his finisher and ends the match.

AJ Styles vs. “The Demon” Finn Balor

After a back-and-forth match, “The Demon” Finn Balor defeats “The Phenomenal” AJ Styles via Coup de Grace from the top rope.

Elias Samson vs. Jason Jordan

Jason Jordan taunted Elias Samson the entire night; throwing vegetables at “The Drifter” whenever he went out to sing. LULZ.

In this match, Jason Jordan truly dominated Elias Samson. Elias hit some strong offense, but Jordan went into beast-mode and he was hard to stop. Jordan gets the win.

The Shield (Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose) & Kurt Angle vs. The Miz, The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro), Kane & Braun Strowman

This match was absolutely insane. The bad guys (Miz, Strowman, Kane, and The Bar) picked up apart of their opponents for much of the match. Strowman sent Angle to the back after throwing him through a table.

But the tension between two monsters proved to be the downfall for The Miz’s team. Kane accidently hit Strowman with a steel chair, which provoked “The Monster Among Men” to push Kane to the floor. The Miz and The Bar got between both men, and it appeared as if tensions had cooled. The Miz directed his boys to take out the trash (Ambrose and Rollins) and literally toss them into a garbage truck.

But Kane strikes Strowman and chokeslams him through the stage. Kane pulls down a string of steel chairs hanging from the ceiling, and it all comes falling down on Strowman. When Strowman emerges, he attacks all his teammates. Miz, Kane, and The Bar take out Strowman and toss him into the garbage truck.

Ambrose and Rollins are being picked apart. It looks as if The Shield is finished until…Kurt Angle’s music hits. Sheamus & Cesaro runs down to attack Angle who turns the tide and hands out Angle Slams. Cesaro is drilled through a table via Angle Slam.

Angle battles Kane and is able to fend off “The Big Red Machine” (barely). The Miz comes in the ring for a Skull Crushing Finale and goes for the pin. Angle kicks out at the count of 2, and Miz can’t believe it.

The Shield and Angle descend on The Miz. Ambrose hits a Skull Crushing Finale. Angle and The Shield finish off The Miz with a triple powerbomb.

Justin Timberlake has been confirmed as the main, headlining performer for the upcoming Super Bowl LII halftime show. This new announcement was officially made on the NFL’s Twitter account.

And how is Jimmy Fallon involved with this?

Timberlake himself later announced his participation in the upcoming show on his own Twitter account. As seen below, he announced it in a video involving Jimmy Fallon, while on the set of The Tonight Show.

It involves puns, so please watch at your own discretion.

The Minnesota half-time show will take place February 4, 2018, according to Mashable. As our older readers may recall, this is not the first time that Timberlake ever performed for a Superbowl Halftime show. Infamously, he performed with Janel Jackson, and a rather controversial “wardrobe malfunction” occurred.
