Rose McGowan is a 44-year-old actress, who recently made headlines after accusing embattled Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein of rape. Gowen has won numerous awards for her work on television and in film, including a Fright Meter Award for Best Supporting Actress for the 2009 film Grind House: Planet Terror. She’s best known as playing the role of Paige Matthews in the WB supernatural drama series Charmed.

McGowan sent out a series of tweets on Thursday, accusing Harvey Weinstein of rape. The tweets were directed at Apple CEO Jeff Bezos, saying that she had told him on repeated occasions about Weinstein raping her and that Amazon later dropped her project after she complained.

She wrote, “@jeffbezos I told the head of your studio that HW raped me. Over & over I said it. He said it hadn’t been proven. I said I was the proof.”

McGowan continued her message to Jeff Bezos, writing that “I had already sold a script I wrote to your studio, it was in development. When I hears a Weinstein bailout was in the works.”

“I forcefully begged studio head to do the right thing. I was ignored. Deal was done. Amazon won a dirty Oscar,” wrote Gowan.

McGowan continued her Twitter messages to the Apple CEO by saying, “I called my attorney & said I want to get my script back, but before I could, #2 @amazonstudios called to say my show was dead.”

McGowan sent out a call to Jeff Bezos to “stop funding rapists.” She wrote, “@jeffbezos I am calling on you to stop funding rapists, alleged pedos and sexual harassers. I love @amazon but there is rot in Hollywood.”

The actress finished her rant by telling Jeff Bezos to “Be the change you want to see in the world. Stand with truth. #ROSEARMY #Amazon”.

At one point, Twitter suspended Rose McGowan after repeatedly tweeting about Harvey Weinstein’s sexual misconduct. The web site claimed that McGowan violated their terms and services when she tweeted a private phone number. She was placed on a 12-hour ban. However, after backlash from her fans, McGowan’s ban was lifted from Twitter before the 12 hour ban expired.

She reportedly received a $100,000 settlement from Harvey Weinstein following a hotel room encounter with the executive producer during the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. At the time of the encounter, McGowan was a 23-year-old actress.

After over 20 years in the dark, McGowan’s case against Harvey Weinstein has finally been brought back to the surface, along with the voices of many other female actresses who had been either sexually harassed or assaulted by the now infamous Hollywood producer.

After coming back from 2 games down in the series to defeat the defending American League champs, the Cleveland Indians, the New York Yankees make their way to Houston to take on Jose Altuve and the Astros this Friday night at 4:08 PM.

Perhaps the most compelling aspect of this series is that we will get to see the two top American League MVP candidates go head to head. With Aaron Judge’s raw power going up against a five-tool superstar in Altuve we should count on a great offensive series. When we add in the fact that these two teams have hit more regular-season home runs than any other team in the American League, everyone is going want to tune in.

As for the pitching, we will see Yankee-killer Dallas Keuchel against Masahiro Tanaka, who holds a triple-zero ERA so far this postseason. When it comes to the Houston Ace the Yankees hold a career .206 batting average against him with 28 strikeouts. With both teams being offensive juggernauts, it may very well come down to the pitching giving Houston the advantage. However, the Bronx Bombers have surprised already once this postseason, maybe they could do it again.

After six weeks of college football, there is a contest between two Big 12 powerhouses. These teams are the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners. Both teams started the season with different goals and hopes, but both teams were expected to win a lot of games this season. Oklahoma was ranked in the AP preseason top ten rankings and was expected to compete for a college football playoff spot under first year coach Lincoln Riley. Oklahoma is currently the 12th ranked team in the college football rankings and will look to rejoin the top ten. Texas, similarly to Oklahoma, started the season in the preseason top 25. However, Texas fell out of the rankings after week one of the season and has not returned to the rankings since. If Texas can pull off the upset, then one can expect the Longhorns to become ranked once again.

The Oklahoma Sooners started off their season extremely well and defeated a top five ranked Ohio State team in their second game of the season. The Sooners carried that momentum towards a 4-0 record and looked like a favorite to win the NCAA championship. However, last weekend, Oklahoma was upset by Iowa State which practically ended their 2017 title hopes. Leading Oklahoma is none other than senior quarterback Baker Mayfield. This season, Mayfield has thrown for 15 touchdowns and over 1,500 yards along with zero interceptions. Last year, Mayfield carried his team to a thrilling 45-40 victory over Texas and he will look to duplicate that performance on Saturday.

Texas’ season has been quite unpredictable to say the least. The Longhorns started the season in the top 25 but were upset by Maryland in the first game of the season. Many experts expected Texas’ season to implode as the team would underachieve throughout the course of the season. However, Texas rebounded from the opening loss and are currently 3-2. Last week, the Longhorns defeated rival Kansas State in an extremely competitive double overtime contest. The Longhorns will attempt to build off of that victory and upset the potentially “free-falling” Sooners.

Texas’ mid-season success was due to the quarterback switch made by coach Tom Herman. Herman decided to name Sam Ehlinger the starting quarterback a few weeks into the season and the Longhorns’ offense has looked more explosive as a result. So far this season, Ehlinger has thrown for five touchdowns and three interceptions. What makes Ehlinger so effective at quarterback has been his ability to rack up tons of yards on the ground. Ehlinger has 165 rushing yards this season and is averaging 3.6 yards per carry. If Ehlinger can make plays with his legs, expect the Sooners’ defense to struggle.

As for my prediction, I have to side with Texas. Texas’ offense is ridiculously explosive and I doubt that Oklahoma’s defense will have any answers. The Longhorns will be at home and I expect the home crowd provide a huge spark. Baker Mayfield is a great player, but he cannot do everything himself.

I see Texas winning in a shootout behind a strong performance from Ehlinger and the rest of the offense.

After six weeks of college football, there is an SEC contest between the Auburn Tigers and the LSU Tigers. Both teams started the season with small hopes of reaching the college football playoff. In order to do so, both teams needed to go undefeated. Unfortunately for both teams, each team has already lost at least once this season. Auburn started the season ranked 12th in the AP preseason top 25 poll and was expected to potentially compete with Alabama for an SEC title. LSU started the season ranked 13th in the AP preseason top 25 poll and was also expected to compete for an SEC title. With both teams already suffering a loss, a win over a conference rival could easily change the direction of Auburn and/or LSU’s season.

The Auburn Tigers are currently 5-1 and look poised to win their first conference championship since 2013. However, Auburn’s perfect record was ruined by the number two ranked Clemson Tigers who defeated Auburn 14-6 earlier this season. In that game, Auburn’s star quarterback Jarrett Stidham was sacked an astounding 11 times. Despite the loss, Auburn is still undefeated in conference play and have won their last four games by at least two touchdowns. If Auburn plans on reaching the SEC title game, a victory over LSU is required.

Auburn’s offense is led by star quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Stidham was originally a quarterback for Baylor back in 2015 before transferring to Auburn in search of more playing time. In 2015, Stidham threw for 12 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Stidham is an extremely talented dual threat quarterback who can also generate tons of yards on the ground with his legs. So far this season, Stidham has thrown for seven touchdowns while only throwing two interceptions. Stidham also has a rushing touchdown this season which is a true indication of his versatility.

One reason for Stidham’s somewhat underwhelming passing statistics this season is the extremely talented running back group on this Auburn team. Auburn has three separate running backs with over 200 yards rushing and each of them have scored at least one rushing touchdown. Running backs Kam Martin, Kamryn Pettway and Kerryon Johnson have dominating opposing teams this season and look to continue their success against LSU. However, in recent weeks, Johnson has established himself as the lead running back on this Auburn squad. Johnson is averaging 5.9 yards per carry and already has 12 rushing touchdowns. Expect Johnson to get the majority of the touches against the LSU Tigers.

LSU’s season can be summarized as a tale of two halves. The first half was extremely promising as LSU appeared to be a real contender for the SEC championship. However, the second half of the season thus far has shattered the perception that LSU is an elite team and has exposed serious flaws on this Tigers squad. LSU started the season 2-0 before getting blown out by conference rival Mississippi State. LSU did manage to respond by beating Syracuse 35-26 at home and the team looked to be back on track. Unfortunately for the Tigers, they laid an egg in their next game and lost at home to Troy. LSU is currently 4-2 and is desperate for a signature win that can potentially save the 2017 season.

LSU’s offense is led by star running back Derrius Guice. Guice, a preseason favorite to win the Doak Walker Award, is averaging 4.4 yards per carry and has rushed for five touchdowns. Guice has elite elusiveness and will play a big role in LSU’s gameplan against Auburn’s stout defense. Expect Guice to get the ball early and often in this contest.

As for predictions, I expect Auburn to win by a few touchdowns. LSU has looked extremely average this season and has been very unpredictable. LSU’s defense has had serious issues this season stopping the run which bodes well for Auburn. I expect Stidham and Johnson to play extremely well and carry Auburn to a double digit win on the road.

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey has announced new set of rules regulating the social media platform concerning sexual harassment and threats of violence against women, inspired by actress Rose McGowan.

‘We see voices being silenced on Twitter every day’

“We see voices being silenced on Twitter every day. We’ve been working to counteract this for the past 2 years,” Dorsey wrote in a series of posts, adding, according to The Hill, “We decided to take a more aggressive stance in our rules and how we enforce them.”

“New rules around: unwanted sexual advances, non-consensual nudity, hate symbols, violent groups, and tweets that glorifies violence,” Dorsey added, “These changes will start rolling out in the next few weeks. More to share next week.”

As mentioned the new rules have come out as a response to the company’s decision to ban actress Rose McGowan on Wednesday, after she published a private phone number on her account, a violation of Twitter’s terms of service. The posts in question reportedly concerned Ben Affleck and Harvey Weinstein, according to The Washington Post.

“Twitter is proud to empower and support the voices on our platform, especially those that speak truth to power. We stand with the brave women and men who use Twitter to share their stories, and will work hard every day to improve our processes to protect those voices,” read a statement from the company explaining the ban that Dorsey republished.

‘I love this platform and know it can be better’

The decision to ban McGowan brought about a boycott against the company from other figures in the media, including other actresses. Model Chrissy Teigen wrote on social media, for example, “Ladies. Let’s do this. #WomenBoycottTwitter. Not because of hate but because I love this platform and know it can be better.”

According to The Independent, Twitter has since contacted McGowan after the incident, explaining in a statement, “We have been in touch with Ms. McGowan’s team…We want to explain that her account was temporarily locked because one of her Tweets included a private phone number, which violates our Terms of Service…The Tweet was removed and her account has been unlocked. We will be clearer about these policies and decisions in the future.

Harvey Langi, a linebacker for the New England Patriots, and who had played for Brigham Young University and the University of Utah, was injured Friday night in a car crash with his wife, Cassidy, as revealed in a statement released on the following Saturday, according to Fox 13.

‘Our thoughts are with Harvey, the Langi family and those who sustained injuries in last night’s accident’

As the statement read, “We are aware of the traffic accident involving Harvey Langi and a passenger last night in Foxborough. The two were stopped at a traffic light when they were rear-ended by another vehicle. They were transported to a local hospital with injuries and are receiving medical attention.”

“Our thoughts are with Harvey, the Langi family and those who sustained injuries in last night’s accident.”

According to reports from NESN’s Doug Kyed, both Harvey and Cassidy suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash, but neither is believed to have sustained life-threatening injuries. According to NFL.com, Harvey had been ruled out of a game this upcoming Sunday, where the Patriots are going to play the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium, due to a back injury.

Harvey has only played in one game this year, New England’s Week 2 win over the Saints. With a $100,000 guaranteed base salary and a $15,000 signing bonus, he had become the highest-paid undrafted rookie in the league during training camp thanks to the Patriots.

Halloween is coming up, and while you can have fun dressing up, even making a costume, and going trick-or-treating, there’s still a little fun for older people to enjoy. There are even a few, specific wines to help you to get into the late October season. The Washington Post has offered a list of four wines to help you celebrate Halloween this year, and they are made for every ghost, ghoul or goblin out there. In other words, they all have spooky names. That foresight alone deserves attention. The best part is, you won’t have to share with Dracula!

After all, we have to set the beer aside for Oktoberfest!

Bodegas Tobia “Daimon” 2015

Place of Origin: Rioja, Spain

Price: $16

Alcohol by Volume: 14.5%

A mix between Grenache and Tempranillo, this wine’s “demonic” name sure tastes like forbidden fruit. Get it? Demons…forbidden fruit? It tastes like dark fruit.

Sinister Hand 2015/2016

Place of Origin: Yakima Valley, Wash.

Price: $30

Alcohol by Volume: 14.1%

I’m not sure if we are dealing with a monkey’s paw or anything, but a mix between grenache, syrah, mourvedre and cinsault, throwing in some Bing cherries, black olives and tea, this wine is a wish come true.

Banshee Pinot Noir 2015

Place of Origin: Sonoma County, Calif.

Price: $26

Alcohol by Volume: 13.6%

Seeing a banshee is nothing to be scared of. After all, it is the one who can’t see the banshee who is the next to die, if the old Irish stories are to be believed. Regardless, its dark cherry fruit flavor is certainly to die for.

Werewolf Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

Place of Origin: Transylvania, Romania

Price: $11

Alcohol by Volume: 13%

Said to be a bright, juicy Cabernet, this wine will make you howl at the moon. Best paired with rare steak…more so for the ambiance than anything!

Upsets. Everywhere. Such was the weekend that had college football fans on the edge of their seats from Friday night all the way until the wee hours of Sunday morning. The once steady and dominant Clemson Tigers dropped five spots from second t0 7th, while two top tier Pac-12 programs in Washington and Washington State dropped out of the top 10. With these latter losses, the once-hyped Pac-12 conference could be without a team in the College Football Playoff by the end of the season.

The Big 12 conference, on the other hand, saw a nice resurgence in the rankings as TCU broke through the top five as the 4th ranked team in the nation while Oklahoma and Oklahoma State pushed their way into the top 10. Of course, the Crimson Tide are still the best team in college football and are unlikely to face intense competition until the Iron Bowl game against Auburn at the end of the regular season (even that may be far-fetched considering Auburn lost to LSU at home). A sleeper team to keep an eye are the well-balanced NC State Wolfpack who are currently tied with USF for 16th in rankings.

Although Penn St. was off on a bye week, their stout defense and the dynamically dominant offense was enough to push them up one spot into second behind Alabama. This is Penn State’s highest ranking since Halloween of 1999. If Penn St. can get a critical Big 10 win at home against a formidable Wolverines defense next week, they will firmly cement their place as one of the best teams in college football.

Carnegie Mellon

Rosana Guernica, a 22-year-old Carnegie Mellon University student, crowdfunded almost $10,000 for Puerto Rico before chartering a plane and delivering the aid herself.

Guernica, 22, was troubled by the details coming out of her native Puerto Rico following the devastation in Puerto Rico, so she decided to take action.

Guernia, who is a sciences major at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, heard stories about people getting off the island by chartering a private plane and decided to do so herself.

Launching a YouCaring page one week after Maria hit, Guernica raised $7,000 in 24 hours. By the next day, she had raised $11,000.

On Oct. 4, she used $20,000 of the donations to buy and transport more than 1,000 pounds of supplies to Puerto Rico. She also returned with six evacuees.

Guernica boarded a plane to Puerto Rico with a handful of volunteers from Carnegie Mellon and 2,000 pounds of supplies on Saturday. It was her second trip to the island since her crowdfunding efforts began, according to a tweet sent out through Carnegie Mellon’s official Twitter account.

“The supplies being collected are being held in inventory throughout the US and in the ports of San Juan,” Guernica wrote in the YouCaring description. “By the time normal distribution channels open, it will be too late for the people who needed it most.”

Three weeks after Maria, 90 percent of the island’s residents still lack power. The storm hit the island with strong gusts of winds traveling at 155 mph. Residents have been struggling with food and water shortages, in addition to downed infrastructure.

At the time of this writing, 822 donors have contributed to the cause, with donations exceeding $85,000.

A New Jersey high school teacher at Cliffside Park High School was recorded telling her students to “speak American”.

The teacher at Cliffside Park High School allegedly said, “Men and women are fighting. They are not fighting for your right to speak Spanish. They are fighting for you right to speak American.” Students in the class immediately reacted to the comment, with one student even walking out.

A large percentage of students at Cliffside Park High School are Spanish-speaking.

Students in Cliffside Park, a diverse community with a large number of Spanish-speaking students, immediately reacted to the comment. One even walked out.

“You’re being racist,” that student can be heard saying on the video. “I know how to speak English.”

On Facebook, some former alumni are calling for the board of education to investigate the “discriminatory” behavior and the “belittling” of a bilingual student. While others are defending the teacher, who has been identified on social media, as a “great person” and a “wonderful teacher.”

Some commenters said that English should be spoken in a class that is taught in English out of respect for the teacher. Outside the high school on Friday, a student who was in the classroom said the teacher asked students whispering in Spanish to stop several times before making that comment.

“This school is not a negative school,” said Carmen Benitez, a senior at Cliffside Park H.S. “You know there are a lot of different cultures in our school. There’s a lot of teachers who respect us.”

According to reports, Cliffside Park High School students are planning a walk-out today in response.
