After several months of regular season baseball, postseason baseball is upon us, continuing today with game 4 of the NLDS between the Chicago Cubs and Washington Nationals.  Both teams won their respective divisions and have the talent to make a deep postseason run in 2017. Game 4 was originally scheduled for Tuesday, October 10, but was reschulded due to rain. As a result, Stephen Strasburg will now be starting for the Nationals.

The Cubs hold a narrow 2-1 series lead over the Nationals after taking Game 3 behind a dominant effort from Jose Quintana, who made his first career post season start.

On the mound for th Chicago Cubs tonight is former Cy Young winning pitcher Jake Arrieta. With lingering pain in his right hamstring, the Cubs pushed Arrieta to Game 4 at Wrigley Field. The former Cy Young winner’s injury sustained on September 4 came after a 2-month stretch in which he went 7-2 with a 1.79 ERA.

As for the Nationals, they will be pitching Stephen Strasburg. Strasburg took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, but ultimately allowed two unearned runs in a Game 1 loss. The righty has excelled vs. Chicago in his career, going 1-1 with a 2.08 ERA in five starts vs. them with 41 strikeouts in 34 2/3 frames.

By 2018, girls will be allowed to become Cub Scouts. They will also be able to earn the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, the organization’s highest honor.

The smallest unit of Cub Scouts will be single gendered – either all boys or all girls “Cub Scout dens will be single-gender — all boys or all girls,” the organization said in a statement. Meanwhile, the larger Cub Scout packs will be open to both genders.

Chief executive of the Boy Scouts, Michael Surbaugh said, “We believe it is critical to evolve how our programs meet the needs of families interested in positive and lifelong experiences for their children.”

By 2019, older girls will be able to join the Boy Scouts. The national organization has been around since February 8, 1910. For the first time ever, females will be able to join the group.

Walter White’s fictional home at 308 Negra Arroyo Lane in Albuquerque, New Mexico, is an actual home owned by actual people, who apparently, have such bad tourists problems that they’re installing a giant fence to keep them out.

Joanne Quintana, whose mother owns the house, said that the family feels like they can’t leave the house because when they do, “something happens.” Deciding enough was enough, the Quintana family has decided to install a massive a six-foot-tall high wrought iron fence around the home.

On a weekly basis, Quintana said she loses count of how many people come to the house. Over the first Balloon Fiesta weekend, she estimates it climbed into the hundreds. In 15 minutes, a KOB news crew counted nearly 10 tourists. They can get nasty. Some even steal rocks from the landscaping as souvenirs.

“They feel the need to tell us to close our garage, get out of the picture, you know — tell us what to do on our own property,” Quintana said.

After a particularly messy weekend, the free show is over. Quintana is installing a 6-foot high wrought iron fence. It wasn’t exactly an easy decision; it’s one that feels like a punishment. That fence should be completed soon, but Quintana said people have already tried to climb around the construction to get a picture.

Hilarie Burton is the former host of MTV’s Total Request Live who has accused actor Ben Affleck of grabbing her breasts during a 2003 episode of TRL. This groping incident was brought to light just hours after Affleck made a statement condemning Harvey Weinstein’s alleged abusive actions relating to his sexual assault and harassment scandal.

On Tuesday night, a Twitter user called out the hypocrisy in Ben Affleck, as he allegedly grabbed Hilarie Burton’s breasts on camera during a 2003 episode of Total Request Live. One Twitter user suggested that Affleck should have ‘kept quiet’ to not reveal skeletons of the past. Weinstein accuser Rose McGoan called Affleck “a liar.”

Burton made her allegations clear on a Twitter thread.

Twitter user, Shanice Brim wrote, “He (Affleck) also grabbed Hilarie Burton’s breasts on TRL once. Everyone forgot though.” Burton popped up on the thread three hours later, writing “I didn’t forget.”

Brim responded to Burton, writing “I’m so sorry that happened to you. It’s infuriating that people never bring up all the gross, predatory things he’s done.”

Burton responded by saying, “Seriously, thank you for that. I was a kid.” The actress was 21-years-old at the time of the incident.

Affleck said he was “saddened and angry” over “sickening claims” of sexual assault made against his former benefactor Harvey Weinstein. When allegations over groping Hilarie Burton’s breasts in 2003, Affleck apologized to the actress and admitted that his behavior was “inappropriate.”

Burton wrote that she had to laugh off Affleck’s alleged boob-grab, so she wouldn’t cry. She later tweeted a clip from the 2003 TRL interview featuring Affleck. “He wraps his arm around me and comes over and tweaks my left boob,” she said.  “I’m just like, ‘what are you doing’…Some girls like a good tweakage here and there – I like a high five.’

A female producer said, “I don’t know what happened but Hilarie was like ‘ooo’.  There was a little squeeze, I don’t know.”

During the interview, Affleck was around 21-years-old. He is heard asking the host, “how old are you – 19?”

Burton is famous for her starring role as Peyton Sawyer on the former WB/CW drama One Tree Hill, and as Sara Ellis on the USA crime drama White Collar. Her first big break in show-business started back in 1999 on MTV’s Total Request Live. She is currently married to Walking Dead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan.

In fact, as Cook added, knowing what you want get be pragmatic in your work, as, “You can bet if you love it, there are many other people out there that are going to love it too. That fundamental saying drives Apple.” After all, people design products based on what they want and need.

Ripping off the bandage, Cook also reminded the audience that they will fail, failing is a natural part of life and that failing is a good thing. As he spoke, “There will be times that you fail on a spectacular basis. I certainly have. You have to have the faith that it will pass. Look in the mirror and watch the person breathe. It didn’t kill you. You’re not dead. It’s not the biggest thing in the world. It will pass.”

“And I do that many times a day sometimes. Do that for a while and you won’t have to remind yourself anymore. You’ll be able to take these failures… and in fact, you’ll view them not as failures but as things learned, and it won’t be so detrimental.”

During a flight delay at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport, a bored passenger took it upon himself to make the time go by a little faster. His solution? Full blown karaoke with the terminal speaker.

In an effort to combat drinking and driving, the city of Columbus, Ohio has partnered with Lyft and Anheuser-Busch to create a safe rides and law enforcement program.

According to Zachary Keizer, a Lyft consumer communications specialist, the objective of this program is to “raise awareness and change behavior around the issue of drunk driving in Columbus.” Keizer said Anheuser-Busch and Lyft will provide up to 2,000 Lyft rides each weekend from now through December 2017, with the hoping of ensuring that people in Columbus get to and from their destinations safely.

Sgt. Rich Weiner, a Columbus Division of Police spokesman, said that the target of the program is the OSU football games, fall weekends, and several other high-risk fall holidays.

The Lantern reports that of all the fatal crashes in Columbus, about 60% are due to drunk driving, adding that the statistic is “significant regarding both loss of life and the costs.”

“Everyone deserves a designated driver and by giving riders in Columbus access to free rides each week, we hope everyone will think twice before getting behind the wheel after drinking, and look to Lyft as a safe way to get home from a night out.”

Kizer says that Anheuser-Busch will share a ride code on its Facebook and Instagram channels. The code is available for use by those older than 21 years old to claim a $30 Lyft Ride credit (two $15 one-way rides) to use that weekend.

Brent Allsup, a Kennesaw State University professor, was arrested after he was found passed out and intoxicated by police at his university’s student center.

According to police, Allsup, who began working at the Georgia university in August 2007, had consumed “three to five beers” before driving to the campus. Police reports state that they found him asleep inside the school’s student center around 10PM on October 5.

Authorities then searched Allsup’s car where they found Hydrocodone, Xanax and amphetamine salts. They also found a half-empty, 16-ounce aluminum beer bottle in the center console.

Tiffany Capuano, a spokeswoman for Kennesaw State University, said that Allsup worked in the business college’s school of accounting part-time, but has been suspended due to the investigation.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Allsup was booked into Cobb County jail around 7 PM on October 6. He was charged with three felony drug charges and an open-container misdemeanor count.

Allsup was released from jail around 2:30 AM on a $11,220 bond.

The AJC says Allsup’s next court date was not listed in the court’s online database.

For prison inmates, as horrifying as the experience of incarceration can be, one of the hardest parts is realizing you might not have a good chance of a easy life once you finish paying off your debt to society. If being a convict wasn’t already a blemish on your record, you are competing for jobs with people who who either in school or employed in the outside world. The University of Iowa hopes to help inmates by developing a college-in-prison program, and is starting with a series of speaker classes involving men from the Iowa Medical & Classification Center.

‘I want to be something more than this charge’

Topics in the fall speaker series include World War 1 poetry, religion, human rights, civil liberties, yoga and job interviews. Kathrina Litchfield, the programs coordinator for the school’s Center for Human Rights, was the one to have planned the series, hoping that it will one day grow into a college-in-prison program which would allow inmates to earn, or even finish, their college degrees.

“The hope is that evidence will show that Pell grants for incarcerated students are a sound investment, and college-in-prison programs nationwide will be able to make the grants available to their enrolled incarcerated students,” Litchfield explained in a statement.

“We’ll be problem-solving together how to matriculate students, provide accreditation toward a degree or complete unfinished degrees as transfer students, provide for costs, add teaching at Oakdale (IMCC) to professors’ course loads, make tuition accessible, provide for college-ready instruction, etc.”

Currently, Litchfield and her colleagues have friends in high places. The program has support from university president, Bruce Harreld, spoke to the students involved back in September and plans to return for a special banquet and certificate presentation this upcoming November. They also had help developing the program with Bard College, a private school in upstate New York, helped Litchfield to develop the program. Bard had been granting college degrees to student inmates since 2005, eventually becoming the largest college-in-prison program in the United States.

Inmates who participate in education programs are said to have a 43% lower chance of recidivism, according to the nonprofit organization, RAND. Inmates also have a better chance of employment after release, around 13% higher, if they were involved in either academic or vocational education programs than those who did not.

Ryan McKelvey, an inmate who is currently serving time for a third-degree sex abuse case out of Polk County said that he signed up for the series because he felt it was important for any chance of success outside of prison. As he explained in a statement, according to The Gazette, “I want to be something more than this charge…With education, there is identity.” “I see it as an opportunity to do something different in my life,” added Asa Winters, another inmate.

Officers from the Lauderdale Police Department and Broward Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of an active shooter inside a grocery store at Lauderhill Mall.

Emergency response crews responded to the call around 12:15 PM EST at the Winn Dixie located at 1531 North State Road 7.

Lauderhill police are at the scene and deputies from the Broward Sheriff’s Office are investigating. SWAT team members were also called to the scene.

Police have asked people to avoid 1531 NSR7 Winn Dixie in Lauderhill, Florida while they investigate reports of an active shooter.

Local schools in the area have been placed on lockdown as a precaution.

Twitter user Nicole Fracesca says that the active shooters are at the Lauderhill Mall.

According to a tweet from Twitter user @_Enrique47, four people have been killed.
