AP Top 25 College Football Rankings 2017: Week 6 AP Poll

$

After an eventful and entertaining weekend of college football contests, the AP Top 25 rankings saw the Big Ten maintain its stranglehold on four out of the top 10 positions. The only notable change in the rankings was the fall of USC from fifth to 14th after being upset by Washington State in a thrilling Friday night shootout.

AP Top 25 College Football Rankings 2017: Week 6

Although there was not the typical shakeup in the rankings that college football fans expect to see after the weekend, there were several decisive wins by potential playoff contenders in Georgia, Clemson, Auburn, and Maimi. Although the additions of UCF (25th) and NC State (24th) may not seem particularly intriguing right now, the underrated Wolfpack could be in a position to prove themselves emphatically as they take on Louisville next.

Ranking Team (1st place votes)
1  Alabama (44)
2  Clemson (17)
3  Oklahoma
4  Penn St.
5  Georgia
6  Washington
7  Michigan
8  TCU
9  Wisconsin
10  Ohio St.
11  Washington St.
12  Auburn
13  Miami
14 USC
15  Oklahoma State
16  Virginia Tech
17  Louisville
18  South Florida
19  San Diego St.
20  Utah
21  Florida
21  Notre Dame
23  West Virginia
24  NC State
25  UCF

Having won again this week, Alabama and Clemson continue to look like the two clear favorites to make it back to the National Championship. If the Tigers can continue to impress with their deep and dynamic defense and the Crimson Tide keep beating the opposition down with their physical rushing attack, it’s hard to imagine these two teams moving out of the top two spots anytime soon.

Dropped From Rankings: Mississippi State 24, LSU 25
Those receiving votes that did not make the poll: Oregon 19, Florida State 15, Georgia Tech 10, Texas Tech 10, Stanford 8, Navy 7, Kansas State 3, Memphis 2, Texas A&M 2, Maryland 1, Troy 1

Kendra Wilkinson Baskett was very cool with the late Hugh Hefner. She spent five years of her life living in the Playboy Mansion, as one of Hefner’s girlfriends. She starred on reality shows such as The Girls Next Door, Kendra, and currently stars on the WE TV program Kendra on Top, alongside her husband, retired NFL player Henry “Hank” Baskett.

On Wednesday, Hugh Hefner died at the age of 91. Wilkinson honored Hef’s life by taking to Twitter, and venting to the world about the loss of her dear friend. She told her audience about how much the Playboy entrepreneur meant to her.

“No matter what mood I was in, he always made me smile. Always!!!” she wrote. “When we would stare at each other from across the room, like no one else was there. We made each other smile, from the heart…His shuffling feet walking by my door at noon. The time we were both just waking up.”

Hefner was reportedly very proud of Kendra, the day she told him about her engagement with the football star and man of her dreams. “The pride in his eyes when I told him I was marrying the man of my dreams.”

“Hef just wanted to see beauty in the world. And his. That’s it!” she wrote. “There’s a reason millions of women LOVED Hef. He was a f—ing mensch.”

She ended her vent with the words, “Have a good day.”

Kendra reacted a bit differently to Hugh Hefner’s death Girls Next Door co-stars. Holly Madison still has yet to make a formal response about Hef’s death, while Bridget Marquardt also honored the man’s death, but with much fewer words.

Mandalay Bay Shooting: Full Story & Must-See Details

More than 50 people are dead and over 500 people are injured after a lone gunman reportedly opened fire from a perch above the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas Sunday night, according to police. The suspected shooter was reportedly shot dead by police. He is being described as a 64-year-old white male, but his name has not yet been released to the public.

One witness reports seeing other bystanders ducking for cover on the Vegas strip outside the resort as “nonstop gunfire” rang out. Meanwhile, many tourists hid in their hotel rooms.

Another witness recalled a person dying in their arms during the melee. Other injured bystanders reportedly tended to the wounded.

At the time of the shooting, a rock music was taking place across the street. Concertgoers were reportedly caught off-guard by the mayhem. They were attending the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival, and certainly weren’t expecting a shooting.

Las Vegas Police Department said that the suspected gunman was on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel. Police believe this man is a local resident of the area.

Authorities are searching for Marilou Danley, who is believed to be the companion of the shooter. Officers are also looking for two vehicles, a Hyundai Tucson and Chrysler Pacifica, both with Nevada plates. Two officers were reportedly hospitalized as a result of the shooting.

“We were just at the concert there, and Jason Aldean was playing,” said a concertgoer named Mike Cronk, 48, who is also a retired teacher. “Kinda sounded like some fireworks going off. I think there was the first kinda volley, and then all of the sudden second volley. My buddy’s like ‘I just got hit, ya know.’ He got hit three times. Then people started diving for the ground. And it just continued.”

“It was pretty much chaotic,” Cronk continued. “Lots of people got hit. …It took a while to get him out. We had to get him over the fence and hiding under the stage for a while, ya know, to be safe. And finally we had to move him because he had three chest wounds.”

Cronk and his group reportedly found an ambulance for the victim, but it was too late, “and basically the one guy ended up dying in my arms because he was bleeding,” he said. “And my buddy got in there. We got three more people in the ambulance. … But I just got a message from my buddy — and he’s going to be okay.”

Here’s a video of the madness from above…

ATF and FBI agents are responding the incident, and an investigation is currently underway. Meanwhile, the Las Vegas Police Department are recommending that people avoid the area. As a result of the shooting, flights in and out of McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas were temporary halted.

Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman said via Twitter, “Pray for Las Vegas. Thank you to all our first responders out there now.”

One performer at the country rock concert across the street from the shooting also sent out a prayer for the city. Jason Aldean sent out an Instagram message that says, “Tonight has been beyond horrific. I still dont know what to say but wanted to let everyone know that Me and my Crew are safe. My Thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved tonight. It hurts my heart that this would happen to anyone who was just coming out to enjoy what should have been a fun night. #heartbroken #stopthehate

Aldean also said, “Pray for Las Vegas.”

One witness, Michelle Leonard reported “mass confusion” while people fled the carnage. She was located in a booth near the main entrance, and said that the shooting just “kept going nonstop,” but also said that it seemed like it went on for more than a minute.

Leonard said that she injured her leg as she tried to escape the chaos. She said, “I had no idea of where it was coming from or where to run to.”

Here’s more raw footage of the incident…

O.J. Simpson Had The Balls to Drive Home From Jail In A White SUV

This just has to be intentional, right? If there is any single human being on Earth who is associated with white SUVs, it’s newly free Orenthal James Simpson.

After being released from Lovelock Correctional Center, O.J. was spotted (still wearing his inmate garb) getting gas with a mystery driver at an Amargosa Valley gas station, about an hour out of Las Vegas, driving in a white SUV. Coincidence? Maybe. But OJ and white SUV are as synonymous as Stone Cold Steve Austin and chugging

Coincidence? Maybe. But OJ and white SUV are as synonymous as Stone Cold Steve Austin and chugging beer, so we’re staying woke on this one.

O.J. would also stop at a McDonald’s for his first meal as a free man, ordering two #4 combos.

According to Simpson’s attorney, Malcolm LaVergne, OJ said that McDonald’s is “better than prison food, but it’s not what it’s all cracked out to be.”

This Is Hands-Down The Best Dorm Room Workout Routine

Dorm Room Workout

One of the toughest things about college is managing your time. All the school work, parties, and classes leave little room for the gym–especially around finals or midterms when the long nights turn into early mornings. The thing is, though, that you need to take care of yourself before the Freshman 15 turns into the Freshman 50. As a college, student we 100% suggest making the trip to the campus gym to work out. Truth is, a gym membership in the real world can get pretty expensive. Use the free gym while you can. But you are not perfect, and the truth is that some winter days/nights you don’t want to gear up to walk the 10-15 minutes just to get to the gym. That’s where this simple dorm room workout comes into play.

Reebok and celebrity trainer Sofia Leguizamon (@sofizamo) put together a quick and simple set of seven exercises you can do in your dorm room or bedroom. We asked Miss COED 2018 Kristen Pry (@kristen_pry), who received some awesome Reebok gear for her time. Check her out in the video below:

**By the way… Yes, cool stuff can happen to you if you join Miss COED 2018. This Reebok partnership is just one example. So sign yourself (or your girlfriend) up for Miss COED 2018 here.*

Directions: Do each workout once at least once a week, resting one day between each workout. Approach each workout as as a circuit of these exercises. Do as many repetitions of each exercise as you can in 60 seconds. Then rest of 20 seconds, and move on to the next exercise. After you’ve completed one set of each exercise, rest for 60 seconds. That’s one round. Do a total of 3 rounds. Once you get comfortable, add one round until you get to five.

Good Mornings

A good exercise to warm up with, stand up straight and rest the hands in the back of the head. Bend the chest forward while moving the butt back, attempting to form a 90-degree angle with the body. If necessary, bend the knees slightly.

Extra Credit: Keep your eyes forward and don’t bend your neck.

Weighted Lunges

Find something in your room, such as a textbook, to serve as a weight. Hold the book across your body gripping it in both hands. Step one leg forward, keeping the chest up and abs engaged. Bend the back leg behind so the knee strikes the ground. Stand back up without moving the feet from their planted positions. Continue to move the back leg up and down in this motion.

Extra Credit: Keep your knees pointed forward, as your frontmost leg should only be moving up and down (not waving side to side)

Incline Pushups

Move the chair away from its normal spot at the desk and into the middle of the room. Stand facing the chair with the hands planted at each end, shoulder width apart. Press into the chair, keeping the hips, knees, and toes in a line and the core tight, and then push the body back up to the original position. Be sure to keep the elbows in throughout the motion.

Butt Raises

With the back on the ground, plant one leg on the chair and raise the other leg straight in the air. With the hands rested on the ground for support, raise the butt and hips up and down.

Extra Credit: On each repetition, squeeze your butt to engage the glute muscles as well.

Step Ups

The chair can be used for this exercise as well, or scale to a shorter height by using a stool or step instead. Face the step, planting one leg on it with the knee bent and the other leg on the ground. Use weight from the back leg to step up and raise the knee above the stool. In the same swift motion, bring that leg back down to its original position. For added momentum, bend the opposite arm while stepping.

Extra Credit: Take your time on the way down from each rep.

Toe Touches

Lie on the ground with both legs raised in the air rested against the side of the bed. Start with the arms on the ground behind the head; raise them up so the hands touch the toes. The shoulders and upper back will move upward in tandem.

Extra Credit: Don’t give up! These are hard for everyone but you can do it.

Burpees

Yes, there is enough space for a burpee even in a tiny dorm room. Start by standing up straight. Throw oneself onto the ground, kicking the legs back behind the body and moving the hands to a pushup position in front. When the chest touches the ground, jump the legs back in towards the hand, and then jump the whole body upwards back to a standing position.

Week 6, College Football Schedule 2017: TV Schedule & Games

$

0

From week to week, college football can be a whirlwind of mind-boggling upsets or a series of dominant beat downs by elite college programs. While week five gave us more of the latter, it also cleared the muddied waters of the college football landscape somewhat. Georgia emphatically shutout Tennessee on the road to move into the top five; Alabama and Clemson both won convincingly (again) to hold their respective positions atop the AP rankings; Penn State continued to look like a reputable playoff contender. While none of these results is particularly riveting in a vacuum, they show us the exciting legitimacy of several programs, many of which are on a collision course to face each other later in the season.

This week features a few notable matchups between a pair of teams from the Big-12 and ACC while one of the most competitive rivalries becomes reignited as Michigan State goes to the Big House to face their archrival Michigan.

The shooter of the Las Vegas attack, which is said to be one of the deadliest mass shootings in American history, has been identified as Stephen Paddock, and he had reportedly committed suicide shortly after the events of the attack. The shooter’s own brother has come out about the attack and claims that even Paddock’s family is in the dark about what really happened.

‘There is no reason we can imagine why Stephen would do something like this.’

In an interview with Daily Mail, Paddock’s brother, Eric, had said that he was unaware of his brother having any political or religious affiliation that could have lead to the attack, saying, “He was just a guy. Something happened, he snapped or something.”

Reportedly, Eric and Stephen were estranged at the time of the attack, and he emphasized that the family is just as unclear of what lead to the attack as everyone else, saying, “We know absolutely nothing, this is just, we are dumbfounded … We have absolutely no idea. Our condolences go to the victims and all their families.”

In addition, Eric offered his sympathies for those who lost their lives in the attack, adding, “There is no reason we can imagine why Stephen would do something like this. All we can do is send our condolences to the people who died. Just no reason, no warning … As far as we knew, he had enough money to live the rest of his life in comfort.”

While Stephen had been living in Nevada, most of his family, including Eric, a retiree, lives in Florida. At this time, Eric had came out with concern over what might happen to his family in retaliation, saying, “Our family is OK, we’re sitting in here in our house hoping that everyone doesn’t attack us. My mother is 90 years old, lives down the street from me, we’re just completely dumbfounded.”

‘Right now, we believe he was the sole aggressor and the scene is static’

The attack occurred around 10 p.m. at the Route 91 Harvest country music festival, while Paddock made several shots at concertgoers from a hotel room, leaving over 50 people killed and over 200 wounded, while Jason Aldean was performing. Authorities managed to get into Paddock’s hotel room at the Mandalay Bay, and he was reportedly found to have taken his own life shortly after the attack; police also found over ten assault weapons in his possession at the hotel room. A woman identified as Marilou Danley was initially suspected to be an accomplice to Paddock, but police later concluded that she was not involved with the shooting.

At this time, police are unsure about a motive, but sources claiming to be connected to the Islamic State have claimed responsibility and that Paddock had converted months before the attack. However, the authenticity of these claims in unclear. According to FOX News, Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo established that police still do not have a clear motive, adding, “We have no idea what his belief system was. Right now, we believe he was the sole aggressor and the scene is static.” Beforehand, Paddock did not have any major offenses or corrections on his record, beyond a minor traffic violation and a lawsuit against a casino in 2014, where he claimed to have fallen.
