Hurricane Maria left Puerto Rico in shambles and killed at least 15 on the small Caribbean island of Dominica. The storm has also killed two people on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe. Maria has left the island of Puerto Rico without electricity and has battered the Dominican Republic with heavy rain and winds. The storm appears to be heading to the Turks and Caicos islands next.

Maria hit the island of Dominica hard as a Category 5 storm before turning to a Category 4 and striking Puerto Rico with winds as high as 155 mph. The storm dipped down to a Category 2 before rising up to a Category 3 hurricane.

On Thursday, Maria struck the Dominican Republic as a Category 3 storm. In the photo below, a restaurant owner is attempting to save a table, from his establishment, being washed out too see.

Puerto Rico was completely devastated from Hurricane Maria. Nearly 3.5 million people have been left without electricity, and authorities say that it may take four to six months for power to be restored to the island. Puerto Rico’s Governor Ricardo Rossello says a “new Puerto Rico” will need to be built.

Audrina Patridge recently filed for divorce and issued a restraining order against her ex-husband Corey Bohan. This means that Audrina is officially single, and has a whole lot drama brewing between her and her ex. The former star of the MTV reality series The Hills claims that her estranged husband violated his restraining order only one day after it was issued.

How did Corey Bohan supposedly violate his restraining order? Well, this is how the story goes… Audrina Patridge returned home to retrieve her belongings and saw her ex still in the house. She told him to leave, and he allegedly responded by calling her a “f**king c*nt.”

Police responded to the incident, but it isn’t known whether or not they took action.

Patridge is seeking primary physical and legal custody of their 15-month-old daughter, Kirra. Her restraining order claims that Bohan shoved her while she was holding the baby, and that he threatened suicide, and persistently harassed her while she was working.

Who’s Audrina Patridge?

Who is Ana? She’s a support sniper, who is heavily skill-shot based. She snipes enemies to poison them, and snipes allies to heal them. Ana also comes equip with a healing grenade to assist a group of allies. This character also has a sleep dart to dispatch of enemies in a nonlethal manner. She can use her sniping abilities to heal her allies and damage the enemy.

A new Overwatch-themed map will also be added to Heroes of the Storm.

Samantha Lee Ciotta, a 32-year-old California high school teacher, was arrested and charged for allegedly having sex with an underage student.

Ciotta, 32, was booked on suspicion of unlawful sexual intercourse and oral copulation with a minor on Wednesday, September 21 in Beaumont, California.

Beaumont Police Department investigators allege that the 32-year-old teacher had sexual intercourse with a Beaumont High School student for several months. The unidentified student also told police that they had communicated inappropriately through various messaging platforms.

Ciotta had already been placed on administrative leave by the Beaumont Unified School District during the police investigation, authorities said. A district spokeswoman declined to say what date the leave began.

The student came forward to police within the past week, Beaumont police spokeswoman Mercedes McFayden said.

The student told detectives “there has been unlawful sexual intercourse occurring for the past few months,” police said in a news release. Investigators also found Ciotta and the student had “inappropriate communications … through various messaging platforms.”

In a statement confirming Ciotta was on leave, the school district said it is cooperating with police and was limited by privacy laws on what officials could say.

Ciotta, a married mother-of-one, was placed on leave by the Beaumont Unified School District during the investigation.

Ciotta, who began working in the district in 2015, was released from custody at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility after posting $150,000 bond.

Lydia Johnson, a Michigan high school teacher who was in charge of coordinating student events such as homecoming and a student-parent trip, stole thousands of dollars from these funds.

According to Macomb County authorities, the money Johnson stole was spent as part of the $90,000 she spent last year playing penny slots at MGM Grand Detroit casino.

When her Dakota High School classroom was searched, authorities found several casino receipts next to the open and empty homecoming envelopes.

Johnson was charged with one count of embezzlement from a non-profit organization, $1,000 to $20,000. Her bond was set at $10,000.

If convicted, Johnson faces up to 10 years in prison.

Johnson was the school’s student activity coordinator from July 1, 2016, until her recent removal and was responsible for incoming and outgoing funds related to student events, according to the prosecutor’s office. The school is in Macomb Township.

Johnson was placed on administrative leave May 3 when district administrators discovered some accounting discrepancies in the school’s activities fund, according to a news release from Chippewa Valley Schools. Per district policy, Johnson was prohibited from being on any school premises, attending any school events and having contact with any students or staff without prior permission from the administration.

School officials and authorities said Johnson oversaw ticket sales for Dakota’s 2016 homecoming dance, which should have taken in nearly $30,000 based on attendance. She only deposited $11,000 into the school’s homecoming account, they said.A search of her classroom revealed several homecoming cash deposit envelopes that were torn open, but empty. Her bank records show 2016 cash deposits “far in excess of her salary,” the prosecutor’s office said.

School Superintendent Ron Roberts released a statement on the issue:

“We have committed our full support and cooperation to the Sheriff’s Department and the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office in this investigation. We will do whatever it takes to ensure that our board policies are followed and that our employees are acting in the best interest of our school community.”

Rick and Morty is having its best season yet and its not even close.

Whether it be upping the mindf*ck ante or further fleshing out the Rick and Morty universe (welcome back, Evil Morty), the funniest show on television is batting .1000 this season, especially during the “Pickle Rick” episode.

A self-contained episode, “Pickle Rick” sees Rick Sanchez turn himself into a pickle for the specific purpose of avoiding a family counseling meeting. However, a series of unfortunate events leaves Rick in dire circumstances, forcing him to rely on his sheer scientific knowledge. And according to co-creator Dan Harmon, it was inspired by an episode of Breaking Bad.

It’s more than a bottle episode, it’s specifically a bottle episode of Breaking Bad where we get to see Walter White up against primal forces instead of watching him negotiate and bluff with street dealers and kingpins and using his access to cool chemicals and any equipment he wants to make any bombs and crystal meth and stuff.

It was interesting to watch him trapped in a hot van, about to die, and having to fall back on his basic science knowledge to keep them alive, while also seeing what he was like under extreme stress in the hot desert heat. That was a big inspiration.”

Former FBI Director James Comey’s speech at Howard University was interrupted by student protesters on Friday. Comey was there to give the keynote address at the university’s convocation ceremony, but he was immediately met by a widespread, vocal protest from members of the crowd.

Comey approached the podium and was instantly met by a throng of angry voices as a group of Howard University students stood united and chanted phrases, sang songs, and held up signs. Some of the phrases were “Get out James Comey, get out of our home,” “We are here to reclaim this space,” “Black lives matter here,” and “No justice, no peace.”

The former FBI Director requested that the crowd “hear him yet,” yet stood quietly for 15 minutes as the voices continued to reject him. Comey eventually decided to talk over the students, claiming that he appreciates the students enthusiasm. However, he pressed upon the seriousness of his message that shouldn’t be shouted down.

Comey said, “I am here at Howard to try to get smarter, to try to be useful, to try and have healthy conversations,” he said, adding that the school is a place where people listen and learn from other viewpoints unlike most places in the world. Instead, what happens in most of the world and about four rows of this auditorium, is that people don’t listen at all, they just try to think about what rebuttal they’re going to offer when you speak.”

Howard University was created back on March 2, 1867. It is a historically black university located in Washington D.C., recognized by the Carnegie Foundation as a research university. The college contains a little over 10,000 students.

Back in August, Howard University announced that James Comey would give the key note speech at their convocation ceremony, and act as their special lecturer. According to NBC News, Comey has agreed to give five speeches and donate his $100,000 compensation for a scholarship fund that looks to assist students from foster homes.

“Howard has a longstanding history of being a vibrant academic community and the perfect place to have rich dialogue on many of the most pressing issues we face today,” Comey said in an August statement. “I look forward to contributing to this remarkable institution and engaging students and faculty alike.”

Today in “Why the NCAA is the worst organization ever”, the NCAA is going Texas A&M cross country runner Ryan Trahan for owning his own business.

Trahan, a 17-year-old freshman and entrepreneur, owns his own water bottle company and uses his YouTube channel to promote his endeavors. But once the NCAA got a whiff, they brought down the hammer.

The Eagle Lake, Texas, said he has been told by the NCAA to refrain from social media references to either his company, Neptune Bottle, or his collegiate athletic pursuits.

Texas A&M is currently looking at exploring options to retain the eligibility of an athlete who promotes his company on his YouTube channel. The A&M athletic department is working with the NCAA regarding the status of freshman Ryan Trahan, a cross country and track and field athlete who owns a water bottle company and a YouTube account of more than 14,000 subscribers.

On Thursday, the NCAA responded to the video on Twitter and said the organization hasn’t received a waiver from Texas A&M and is working with the university on the issue. Trahan, a freshman from Eagle Lake, ran unattached in A&M’s first cross country meet this season and ran with A&M’s team in its second meet at Georgia. His status for this weekend’s home meet is in question, according to a team spokesperson.

As a 17-year-old, Trahan and a friend co-founded Neptune Bottle in September 2016. According to the company’s website, Neptune’s main purpose is to reduce the amount of plastic bottles. The company donates a portion of its proceeds to the Plastic Oceans Foundation, according to the site.

This comes after University of Central Florida kicker Donald De La Haye was ruled ineligible for receiving advertising money generated from his YouTube channel. The NCAA granted UCF and De La Haye a waiver request that is similar to the one Trahan is currently requesting.

Whoever has been running Call Of Duty’s recent marketing needs a fat ole’ raise, because every glimpse we get off the upcoming Call Of Duty: WWII gets me all the more hyped.

It’s been a long time since I’ve been this pumped for a COD game. From personal experience, talk to anyone over the age of 21, and they’ll tell you they stopped playing COD years ago. Why? The jetpacks — the goddamn jetpacks. They took away from what made the game fun and added unnecessary complications.

But then in 2016, a funny thing happened: the Battlefield franchise went back to old-school warfare with the epic Battlefield 1, while the Call Of Duty franchise themselves re-released the classic original Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare. Now here we are, on the verge of the first World War II-based COD game in maybe over a decade.

Call of Duty: WWII is an upcoming first-person shooter video game developed by Sledgehammer Games and published by Activision for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. It is the fourteenth primary installment and first Call of Duty series game to be set primarily during World War II since Call of Duty: World at War in 2008.

The game is set in European theatre of the war. The campaign is centered around a squad in the 1st Infantry Division, and follows their battles in the Western Front, while the multiplayer expands on different fronts not seen in the campaign. Zombies mode also returns.

It will be released worldwide on November 3, 2017.

New York City doesn’t sound like the typical college-football hotspot. But in an odd way, it may be the perfect place to find a niche audience making that night out something special in the big apple. College GameDay is set for Time Square on Saturday, September 22, 2017. But is NYC the best place to get your game on?

Does college football and New York City really mix? You should ask ESPN executive Lee Fitting.

“People say: Why New York? The simple answer is: Why not New York?” Fitting said Thursday by telephone. “No offense to these schools, but there will be other good matchups (in other weeks). ‘GameDay’ has gone to Wrigley Field, to an aircraft carrier in San Diego, to Harvard-Yale, to Fargo (N.D.). It’s rare when someone says: I’ll never forget that Tennessee-South Carolina show.”

Former longtime College GameDay host Chris Fowler is credited as the person who came up with the idea of bringing the event to New York City. Fowler reportedly came up with the idea five or six years ago after seeing bars in NYC packed with college football fans on Saturday night.

“People who are against it are ‘GameDay’ purists, and we love the passion,” Fitting said. “But some of the same people looked at us sideways when we said: We’re going to James Madison.”

SBNation reporter Richard Johnson was raised in Gainesville, Florida, which is a college football hot-spot. He now lives in New York City, where he has discovered a thriving bar scene jam-packed with college football culture. He reports that every Saturday night, “tribes” of fans congregate at “watering holes throughout the metropolis” to celebrate their favorite teams and watch them play.

There are plenty of bars in New York City catered to your sports-viewing pleasures. There’s also bars who specifically cater to niche fans of college football teams, hosting live viewings and sometimes giving out free shots whenever their team scores a touchdown. The bar, in the video, reportedly gave out free shots whenever the South Florida bulls scored a touchdown. At the time of its introduction, USF was scoring very well. But since their offense took off midway through 2016, the bar had to water-down shots because of obvious reasons (they were going too fast).

You know how Florida sometimes seems like another country because of how batshit crazy it can be? I get that vibe from Utah, only on the opposite end of the spectrum — if Florida is Donald Trump, then Utah is Bernie Sanders: both totally bonkers extremes on other sides of the spectrum.

In the mid 1950s, the director of BYU Food Services decided not to sell caffeinated soft drinks. This decision has continued on since that time. Until more recently, Dining Services rarely received requests for caffeinated soda. Consumer preferences have clearly changed and requests have become much more frequent.

We have already started adding caffeinated soft drinks to the inventory of beverages we sell on campus. Although we are now offering canned and bottled caffeinated soft drinks, it will take longer to change out our fountain equipment.

We realize that there are many choices to be made, and some are more nutritious than others. We strive to offer a variety of food choices and encourage our customers to make healthy choices. We encourage our patrons to visit the Dining Services website where a program is available to promote not only healthy eating, but also a healthy lifestyle. The program is referred to on the website as EAT: Eat, Act, Think.

This decision was not based on financial considerations. We are simply working to meet the preferences of our customers.

Twilight actress Nikki Reed, 29, and her baby daddy just revealed an adorable story about how he tossed out her birth control pills without her permission. At first, she was reluctant to the idea of becoming a mother, but her husband Ian Somerhalder, 35, was dead-set on the idea. He flushed a full pack of birth control pills down the toilet, while she freaked out. But she got over the incident, and in July of this year, the couple welcomed their first child, a baby girl named Bodhi Soleli.

Nikki Reed was born on May 17, 1988, in Los Angeles, California. Her career took off as a teenager, when she co-wrote and starred in controversial, semi-autobiographical 2003 film Thirteen. Reed earned an Independent Spirit Award for Best Debut Performance for her role as Evie Zamora.

In 2008, Reed received her next big break when she was cast as Rosalie Hale for the film Twilight, which developed into a multi-billion dollar film series.

But back to Nikki and her husband Ian, and their birth control pill fiasco. The couple appeared on Dr. Berlin’s Informed Pregnancy Podcast this week, and revealed some pretty candid info to their most gracious hosts. After their second night together, Ian was already telling his pals that he would marry Ms. Reed, who responded by calling Ian’s idea “presumptuous.”

Reed was very iffy about becoming a mommy. “You know it was interesting,” Reed adds. “I didn’t know if I wanted kids…I love kids and I wasn’t sure I didn’t wanna be a mom, I just didn’t know, you know?”

But Somerhalder was dead set on having kids. Last May, during a trip to Barcelona with his two best friends (a straight couple), they all decided to start a family with their significant others. He said, “we decided we all wanted to have children together. It was just time.”

Dr. Berlin asks the couple, “So when did you really decide to have a kid?”

Somerhalder replies, “May, I can tell you…”

But he is soon cut off by his wife saying, “Oh yeah, when you threw you all my birth control pills! That was also presumptuous.”

Somerhalder: But unbeknownst to poor Nikki, she didn’t realize that I was gonna go in her purse and take out her birth control and…by the way, it was the beginning of the pack, so I had to pop all of those suckers out…

Reed: [laughs] There’s a photo of me, and I look like—

Somerhalder: There’s a six-minute video where she’s freaking out.

Dr. Berlin: I want that photo.

Reed: You know what, I might actually have it. I’m sure I do.

Somerhalder: When we’re done, I’ll show you. I have the video.

Reed: There’s a video? Why are you always taking a videos of me and I don’t know it?

Somerhalder: I was in the video, you nerd! Lindsey took the video with my phone!

Reed: Oh, maybe that’s why!

Young: You’re a nerd by the way.

Reed: I know. I’ll own it.

Somerhalder: What’s so cool is there’s this video of me with this handful of these little pills. [Lindsey] is sort of like interviewing Nikki, like, ‘How are you feeling,’ and I went like this, and Lindsey so expertly put it on slow motion, and you just see them…and they slowly go into the toilet.

Reed: I’ve never seen this. Was I drunk? Was I coherent?

Somerhalder and Reed became engaged on Feburary 2015, and were married in Malibu, California, on April 26, 2015. On July 25, 2017, the couple welcomed a baby girl into the world. Her name is Bodhi Soleli Somerhalder.

For whatever reason, I still haven’t gotten around to watching Narcos yet, which is strange for me, considering I try and delve into every “prestige” drama that comes out these days.

I tried, once, but was on my phone a lot (as us millennials are) and therefore unable to keep up with the subtitles. From what I hear, it’s a great show. So great, in fact, that the surviving members of the Escobar family now want a piece.

Escobar’s 71-year-old surviving brother, Roberto De Jesus Escobar Gaviria, threatened to “close their little show” if Netflix failed to provide a $1 billion payment to his company, Escobar Inc., for intellectual property violations.

Narcos Productions, LLC (NPL) — the company behind the series and its popular video game spinoff Narcos: Cartel Wars — contend that without NPL’s “knowledge or consent, on Aug. 20, 2016, Escobar filed use-based applications to register the marks NARCOS and CARTEL WARS with the [U.S. Patent and Trademark Office] covering a range of goods and services.”

Those services include everything from “downloadable ring tones” and “sunglasses, decorative magnets” to “temporary tattoos, bookmarks and sheet music,” according to the trademark application documents included with the letter.

“I don’t want Netflix or any other film production company to film any movies in Medellin or Colombia that relates to me or my brother Pablo without authorization from Escobar Inc. It is very dangerous. Especially without our blessing. This is my country,” Gaviria said.

Obviously — because this is what big companies do — lawyers for Netflix then threatened to retaliate by suing the Escobar family.

During the height of the Medellin Cartel, Gaviria worked as the lead accountant and “head of the hitmen,” where he was responsible for tracking billions of dollars in drug profits annually.

Meanwhile, Cloud9 has signed a new Korean Overwatch team to their roster. Let’s get a quick rundown of both stories…

Why Did Counter Logic Gaming pull out of the Overwatch League?

Counter Logic Gaming announced their withdrawal from the Overwatch League shortly after they appointed a new Chief Operation Officer by the name of Nick Allen. The company released a statement explaining their reason for dropping out of the Overwatch League, saying that “entering the Overwatch League does not align with our goals at the present time.”

CLG isn’t the only organization to drop their team from the league. The Overwatch League is a very exclusive and expensive series, which requires a $20 million entry fee for each team. CLG currently has a well-established League of Legends team. So, the assumption is that CLG will devote its resources to join Riot Game’s League of Legends League.

Here’s some more Overwatch Info: The preseason for the Overwatch League begins on December 6, 2017. The inaugural season officially starts on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, and will last until June. League playsoffs and finals will take place in July 2018. Blizzard Arena Los Angeles will host the tournament.

Cloud9 Signs New Korean Team To Their Esports Roster

Cloud9 cites “linguistically reasons” for signing a new South Korean team to their Esports roster. The Korean team is called “Kongdoo Panthera”. C9 had also recently signed a European team known as “Laser Kittenz”.

It appears as if Kongdoo Panthera will be taking over the Overwatch League slot in London, England.

Co-founder and CEO of Cloud9 jack Etienne took to Reddit to answer questions. Etienne said that they’ve “given their players free reign to find a new team and will be playing them until they do.”

In the meantime, Laser Kittenz will continue to represent Cloud9 for the remainder of the Overwatch contenders season.

Zachary Adams, 33, was found guilty of murder and aggravated rape in the 2011 slaying of a Tennessee nursing student. Adams was accused of kidnapping, raping, and murdering the 20-year-old Holly Bobo. He may face the death penalty for his crimes.

Holly Bobo originally went missing from her Parsons home on April 13, 2011. Her remains were uncovered roughly 3 ½ years later in woods in Decatur Count by two ginseng hunters, about 100 miles southwest of Nashville.

Jurors began deliberating this murder and rape case by Thursday afternoon, the tenth day of the trial. The judge, C. Creed McGinley, had previously moved the trial to Hardin County in search of an unbiased jury.

The brother of the deceased, Clint testified that on the day of Holly Bobo’s disappearance, he saw an unidentified man, dressed in camouflage, leading his sister into the woods. Prosecutors argue that Adams was mixed-up in the “dark world” of methamphetamine and morphine when he and two other men abducted, kidnapped, raped, and murdered the young Holly Bobo, and later disposing of her remains in the woods.

In his closing argument Thursday, prosecutor Paul Hagerman credited the testimony of star witness Jason Autry for proving Adams’ guilt in court. Autry testified that he assisted Hagerman in moving what he believed to be Holly Bobo’s body wrapped in a blanket. Bobo was reportedly still alive at the time, and Autry acted as lookout while Hagerman is said to have shot the 20-year-old by the Tennessee river.

“She was never gonna come out of that blanket alive, not a chance,” Hagerman said. “[Autry] knew just how guilty he was, just how guilty they all were – and for years, he kept his secret.”
