Macon County Sheriff’s Office

Allyson Brittany Moran, a 26-year-old former substitute teacher and soccer coach at Stockbridge High School, was arraigned on charges that she sexually assaulted a student in April.

According to Michigan State Police, Moran, 26, was arrested Thursday in Illinois and waived extradition to Michigan on Friday.

Moran, who worked as a long-term substitute teacher and girls soccer coach at Stockbridge High School in Mason, faces three felony counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a student and one misdemeanor count of fourth-degree criminal sexual involving a student.

Stockbridge school officials said Moran worked at the district during the 2016-17 school year as a long-term substitute teacher and girls soccer coach. She was technically employed by a teacher staffing company and is no longer affiliated with the school district, officials said.

The reported assaults involved a teenage boy younger than 18 and occurred in April, investigators said. She is accused of having sexual intercourse with the student on two occasions in April at her home in Dansville, according to court records.

The student disclosed what happened in August, and Moran admitted to police she had sexual contact with the student, a detective testified during a hearing that led to charges being issued.

Moran was arrested in the Decatur, Ill. area, where court records indicate she lives, and held in the Macon County Jail over the weekend, She arrived at the Ingham County Jail on Monday night.

Moran was held in the Macon County Jail in Illinois over the weekend and was transferred to the Ingham County Jail in Michigan Monday night. She was released from custody after posting the $7,500 bond set by a 55th District Court magistrate.

A preliminary hearing is set for October 5.

Midwestern State University

Robert Grays, a sophomore cornerback at Midwestern State, died Tuesday due to injuries he suffered while making a tackle in a game Saturday.

Grays, 19, was injured with about 3½ minutes to go in the Mustangs’ 35-13 win over Texas A&M-Kingsville in Wichita Falls, Texas.

According to ESPN, Midwestern State athletics department spokesman Trey Reed said Grays was hospitalized in Wichita Falls on Saturday night after the sustaining the injury and was then flown to a hospital in Houston, where he died Tuesday.

Midwestern State president Suzanne Shipley released a statement regarding Grays’ unfortunate passing:

“Today we mourn the loss of one of our own. Robert Grays died yesterday from critical injuries suffered in Saturday’s game. I know you will join me in expressing the sincerest condolences of the MSU community to Robert’s family and friends. Please keep them in your thoughts in the coming days.

Robert touched many lives while attending the university, but perhaps he will be remembered best for his smile. He was an inspiration on and off the field to those around him, and he will be remembered with love and affection by his friends, classmates, coaches, and teammates.”

About 700 people gathered Monday at Midwestern State in support of Grays.

Before attending Midwestern State, Grays played at Fort Bend L.V. Hightower High School in Missouri City, Texas.

Grays was the second college football player to die this week, as College of Wooster 21-year-old offensive lineman Clayton Geib died on Sunday after “complaining that he was not feeling well” following the College of Wooster’s win over Ohio Wesleyan in Wooster, Ohio.

Ok, so maybe that’s a gross exaggeration.

But for anyone that plays fantasy football, having a rising star on your squad that suffers a long term injury can be immensely aggravating as you scramble to find a suitable replacement. For anyone who lost wide receiver Corey Coleman (again) this past week to the IR, I can empathize with your frustration at losing one of the more underrated deep threats in football. But fear not fantasy owners. While losing a player is always devastating to some degree, you can take comfort in the notion that there is always someone waiting on the bench to prove themselves as your next viable fantasy asset. His name is Rashard Higgins.

When you look at the number of targets and receptions Higgins garnered against the Baltimore Ravens, it becomes abundantly clear that he is more than just your run of the mill boom or bust deep threat flex player. With 11 targets and seven receptions for 95 yards, Higgins quickly emerged as a reliable and consistent target downfield. Better still, Higgins’ target shares were spread nearly evenly across the field. What this means for fantasy owners is that Higgins can be lined up and utilized in a variety of offensive schemes, which increases his chances of being targeted and ultimately increasing his reception total.

Speaking of versatility, Higgins was also evenly targeted on 1st (3 targets, 2 receptions, 36 yards), 2nd (4 targets, 3 receptions 19 yards) and third down (4 targets, 2 receptions, 40 yards). These numbers are particularly noteworthy because they tell us that Higgins is not a situational piece whose success is predicated on making the most out of opportunities on a specific down. The fact that he is a go to target in any moment suggests that his abilities are coveted as a number one wideout in the absence of Corey Coleman. While it is a small sample size, it displays Higgins’ statistical prowess as a high volume pass-catcher, which is something that all fantasy owners should covet.

While it’s hard to get particularly excited about anyone who plays for the Browns, Higgins did something that not every wide receiver can do well and that’s being a reliable target on every down anywhere on the field. It’s easy to take that attribute for granted when you have someone like Antonio Brown on your squad who is expected to do it all, but when you’re searching for a productive sleeper, you have to appreciate what someone who was once on the practice squad can do in his professional debut in both fantasy and reality.

Deanna Lara, a former teacher’s aide at Snook High School in Somerville, Texas, was found guilty of sexually assaulting students. Lara, who was arrested in December 2015 and indicted on the charges in June 2016, was sentenced to 10 years for each count to be served concurrently.

On Wednesday, September 20, Lara was found guilty eight counts – three counts of sexual assault and five counts of improper relationship between teacher and student.

According to the prosecution, Lara handpicked each student and manipulated them by giving them gifts in the form of money, food, and clothing so they wouldn’t tell others.

Lara was first arrested in December 2015 for improper relationship with a student, which the victims say the relations began back in October of that year. She was later indicted on seven charges of improper relationship with a student and three charges of sexual assault of a child. Burleson County later abandoned two of those initial charges.

The indictment lists alleged incidents of sexual contact with four students, some under the age of 17, including sexual intercourse.

Lara resigned her position at Snook High School back in December 2015 and is prohibited from returning.

Boxing legend Jake LaMotta, who was played by Robert De Niro in the classic Martin Scorcese movie Raging Bull, died Tuesday at the age of 95.

According to TMZ, LaMotta’s wife said that Jake died in a nursing home die to complications from pneumonia. Furthermore, members of LaMotta’s family said that his condition “deteriorated in recent weeks”

LaMotta began his boxing career in 1941 after he was rejected from serving in the military due to a medical issue. LaMotta held a record of 83-19 in 106 professional fights.

HE was famously portrayed by De Niro in the 1980 classic Raging Bull, based on Jake’s autobiography. De Niro won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of LaMotta.

While Kearse would normally be considered a third-string wideout at best on most NFL teams, he has been given a golden opportunity to shine as a top target for the New York Jets. In his first two games, Kearse has made the most out of his newfound ascendence as he has caught 11 passes for two touchdowns while averaging 11.2 yards per receptions. Although Kearse has not really been challenged by notable secondaries (Buffalo, Oakland) he has still been a bright spot for the Jets as his lack of drops on the season coupled with his fantasy points per route (0.65, 21st amongst receivers) make him one of the more underrated weapons in terms of efficiency.

Beyond those metrics, the one number that is crucial for fantasy owners to take note of is his overall snap share percentage. At 96.2%, Kearse ranks 14th amongst receivers in snap shares, making him a nice asset that is on the field on nearly every play. Better sill, Kearse’s overall target shares are spread evenly across the first (6 targets, 5 receptions, 72 yards, 1 touchdown) and second (8 targets, 6 receptions, 51 yards, 1 touchdown) halves of a given game. Simply put, Kearse’s constant presence on the field combined with his reliability as a sure-handed target have quickly elevated him into a underrated wideout that allows the Jets to be a more productive team when it comes to scoring albeit only slightly overall.

While Kearse’s week to week success hinges on the success of a mediocre quarterback in Josh McCown, his reliability and overall target shares make him a valuable flex player in PPR leagues. His ability to get downfield consistently and reliability in the red zone make him a unique scoring threat that can score big in a variety of ways. While he should not be consistently relied on every week, he’s great in a pinch if need to flesh out your starting line up.

Epic Games’ ambitious upcoming free to play co-op sandbox survival video game (currently in paid early access), Fortnite, has unveiled their latest addition to the game: a Battle Royale game mode. Similar to PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS, Fortnite Battle Royale will pit 100 players in a frantic last man standing match set in a vast map while a blue ring of death slowly forces all the players to the same vicinity, encouraging players to fight rather than hide.

Utilizing the building nature of Fortnite’s gameplay, Fortnite Battle Royale will allow players to build and destroy to get the advantage on their enemies. The chaotic and frantic nature of Fortnite only adds to the fun of this Battle Royale mode allowing for fun and memorable moments to be had.

While Fortnite will be a free-to-play game when it officially launches in 2018, but players can get in on the action early by purchasing one of the game’s “Founder’s Packs”. Buying into the early access allows players to get a number of in-game “Pinata” loot boxes and a number of in-game banner icons.

Fortnite’s main gameplay puts four players in a wide open map tasked with different objectives with the overall goal of being survival. While crafting weapons and building hideouts, players will be tasked will killing off the “Monsters” of the game. The game’s building mechanic feels very familiar for players of Minecraft while the four player co-op and “Monsters” are very reminiscent of the classic Left 4 Dead.

While we wait for the September 26th release date of the Fortnite Battle Royale mode to launch, Epic Games has gone on to shed some light on the upcoming standalone release. The developers, who have expressed their love for Battle Royale games like PUBG, knew that Fortnite’s buildable and destructible world would be a perfect fit for the game mode.

Set in one wide open map, 100 players will glide down off a flying bus to craft items, make shelter and hunt their enemies down. As the match goes on, players will be forced into the same vicinity by a blue wall of death making players take out their enemies (like PUBG). Gamers can expect all the frantic and explosive nature of Fortnite with the addition of this new game mode.

Players can choose to take on this new mode by themselves in a 1 vs. 99 mode or team with up three friends to take on the Battle Royale in a Squad based mode. Take on 26 other teams with your Squad to take out your enemies and be the last team standing!

Yes, you read that headline correctly. There’s actually going to be a college-credited program that will train its students on the best ways to grow marijuana. Dang, how times have changed. I remember sitting in a high school classroom in the dead of summer, with the science teacher saying that “one joint is as harmful as 10 cigarettes,” all while not providing one shred of evidence to back up his claims. It’s time to leave that nasty propaganda in the past and welcome that sticky icky of the future.

According to a media release, the program is one year in length and is designed to help students get into the legal weed market and become federally-licensed producers. At this moment, there are only 58 licensed producers of medical cannabis in Canada. Once pot becomes legal, the recreational market will open up to limitless opportunities.

Grads of Niagara’s weed growing program will become “Greenhouse and Controlled Environment Technicians,” equipped to understand and steer through the federal government’s strict laws around growing cannabis, said Al Unwin, associate dean of Niagara College’s School of Environmental and Horticultural Studies, in the release.

Unwin said, “Driven by legislative changes in Canada and abroad, there is a growing labour market need, and education will be a key component of the success of this emerging industry.”

Netflix has announced its upcoming additions to their catalog for October 2017 and it’s full of great titles to binge on! Full of new titles ranging from new Netflix original content, including David Fincher’s new series Mindhunter, to returning seasons of beloved shows, like the highly-anticipated Stranger Things Season 2.

Netflix release a slate of original content each month has become a tradition of sorts nowadays and their offerings for October include some great titles like: the fourth season of the acclaimed Voltron: Legendary Defender and the second season of Miranda Sings’ Haters Back Off. South Park continues its 21st season tonight with “Put It Down.” It will be the second of 10 episodes in the 21st season, and it is the 279th overall episode.

Between the general disappoint of last season and all that has happened in the world since the show wrapped up season 20, South Park heads into its 21st year with more pressure than usual. Given the shaky first few months of the Donald Trump presidency, one would expect Trey Parker and Matt Stone to dive into it head first. That couldn’t be farther from the truth, as the South Park creators want absolutely nothing to do with Donald Trump this season

“Yeah, and it’s also just gotten boring. We weren’t ever really that show. We would do an entire season and there would be one moment that played off something that had just happened and people would go, South Park is the show that does that. And that’s just not true. We’re not.

We did start to become that, though, especially the last season. We fell into the same trap that “Saturday Night Live” fell into, where it was like, “Dude, we’re just becoming CNN now. We’re becoming: ‘Tune in to see what we’re going to say about Trump.’ Matt and I hated it but we got stuck in it somehow,” Trey Parker said back in July.

Now, while they may not be satirizing the President this season, it certainly looks like they will be gunning after his supporters, as the premiere episode seems to be tackling the Confederacy and white supremacy head on.

South Park was also renewed through to season 23 in 2019 Comedy Central put out a statement to celebrate the announcement of the show’s renewal:

“South Park remains the bedrock of Comedy Central and we are thrilled that new episodes will continue to entertain audiences for years to come,” said Michele Ganeless, president of Comedy Central, in a press release. “The series remains as urgent and relevant now as the day it premiered and at nearly 20 seasons in it continues to draw generations of new fans.”

After using a serialized format for the last couple of seasons, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have hinted that they will be going back to the show’s old format of standalone episodes, and will focus less on satire, and more on “Cartman dressing up like a robot and screwing with Butters.”

News has broke that Linda Hamilton, star of 1984’s The Terminator and 1991’s Terminator 2: Judgement Day, has signed on to star in the direct sequel to T2. According to an exclusive from Variety, producer of the film and director of T2: Judgement Day, James Cameron, has confirmed that Linda Hamilton will be returning to the role of Sarah Connor.

The new film which is to be directed by Deadpool director, Tim Miller, will be set following the events of Terminator 2: Judgement Day and will kick off a new trilogy of movies in the franchise. After the disastrous performance of 2015’s Terminator Genisys, which saw Emilia Clarke cast as Sarah Connor, plans for the sequels were put on an indefinite hold.

Speaking at a private event announcing the project Cameron said:

“As meaningful as she was to gender and action stars everywhere back then, it’s going to make a huge statement to have that seasoned warrior that she’s become return … There are 50-year-old, 60-year-old guys out there killing bad guys, but there isn’t an example of that for women.”

Hamilton, who starred in the first two films in the franchise, helped define bad-ass women in action films. Audiences fell in love with the waitress being hunted by a time-travelling robot in The Terminator and by Terminator 2: Judgement Day, the seasoned and hardened Sarah Connor became an iconic part of movie history. Her quest to save her son from the time-travelling robots captivated audiences and elevated Hamilton to super stardom.
