Freeman High School student Sam Strahan has been identified as the student who was shot and killed by Caleb Sharp during a school shooting at Freeman High School in Rockford, Washington.

Strahan, who was a sophomore at Freeman High School, was shot and killed when he tried to confront fellow sophomore Caleb Sharp who’d come to the school armed with two weapons.

Spokane County Sheriff Ozzie Knezovich said Strahan was shot and killed by a shooter inside Freeman High School Wednesday, but this is not the only tragedy to befall the Strahan family in recent months.

According to the Spokesman-Review, classmates described Strahan as a “true hero”, “incredible soul” and a “positive and happy spirit”. Furthermore, the Spokesman reports that Sam’s father, Scott Strahan, died unexpectedly on June 18 when he was crushed beneath a motor home he was working on.

The high school of more than 300 students, southeast of Spokane, became a crime scene as the shooter opened fire, killing Strahan and wounding three other students. Then, officials said, a school custodian approached the shooter and “ordered him to surrender.” The custodian was able to subdue the shooter until an officer arrived and took him into custody.

While police have not disclosed Strahan’s name, pending its release by the county medical examiner’s office, friends and witnesses have identified him in local news stories and participated in a vigil at a local mall. As shock turned to grief in the hours after the country’s latest school shooting, they told of a sincere young man with a penchant for joking around, even after burying his own father, who died in an accident — on Father’s Day.

Officials said the suspect’s first gun jammed before he pulled out a second one. That’s when another student — widely reported to be Strahan — tried to intervene.

Authorities said that an unidentified school custodian approached the shooter at Freeman High School Wednesday morning during the incident and ordered him to surrender. The sheriff’s office also said a deputy who works as a school resource officer arrived shortly thereafter and took the shooter into custody.

The other three injured students have yet to be named, however, despite being seriously injured, are all expected to recover.

If you haven’t seen IT yet, I suggest you do.

Rally up the homies, get super high, and go make yourself uncomfortable for a couple hours. I, personally, don’t love horror movies, but I LOVE scaring myself, and IT did that in the best way possible. It was a *fun* scared if that makes any sense.

And so far, it seems as though most people agree with me, as everyone who’s seen IT seems to enjoy the movie. That is, except for the clowns.

According to NBC, a professional clown claims that his business has been hurt due to the marketing and success of IT.

John Nelson, who runs Clowns in Town with a partner, says his business has gotten several cancellations in the last couple of weeks, and he’s blaming the supernatural horror movie for scaring the public.

He said billboards and TV ads promoting the movie have been showing scary clowns, and Google search of “clown” shows scary clowns, like from “It.” Nelson says most clowns get paid on site and no deposit is required, so the cancellations “result in a huge loss to our livelihoods.”

Nelson, who studied clowning with Leslie Noble upstate in Syracuse, has been working in the New York area for the past 10 years, doing mainly children’s birthdays and some corporate events. He and his partner, along with a group of other local clowns, plan to rally outside Union Square Regal Cinema Thursday evening.

While I am certainly not an advocate for people losing work, I do have one slight suggestion for Mr. Nelson and his clown friends: FIND A REAL JOB!

Coming off its most leak-filled season in its history, Game Of Thrones and its creators are hoping to do everything they can to prevent similar leaks for the final season — even going as far as filming multiple endings.

During season 7, two of the season’s biggest episodes, “The Spoils of War” and “Beyond The Wall” leaked ahead of their scheduled premiere dates, sending the Game Of Thrones world into a tizzy. And HBO seems to have had enough.

According to the Morning Call, citing a quote from HBO programming president Casey Bloys, the Game Of Thrones team will be filming multiple endings to avoid potential leaks and spoilers going forward.

“I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really know what happens. You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”

The production of Game of Thrones eighth and final season, which will only have six episodes, begins in October.

While no official release date has been revealed, rumors suggest that the final season of GoT will not premiere until late 2018 or early 2019.

If you want to compete consistently in fantasy football, you have to be willing to sift through the plethora of underrated and unknown names to find a unique talent. Of course, for every potential superstar that exists on the waiver wire, there are at least five others that are masquerading as breakout talents that are actually just one hit wonders. Often times it can be immensely difficult to tell the difference between the two and the only way to find out which side of the fence a particular player will be on is to keep a close eye on their production from week to week. Such is the case with current third string wideout Travis Benjamin.

Despite being relegated to a meek spotlight in the Chargers receiving corps, Benjamin was a reliable deep threat last season, particularly in the absence of number one wide receiver Keenan Allen. Averaging 14.4 yards per reception in 2016, Benjamin was capable of pulling off big-plays in sporadic bursts and was quick enough to garner a few extra yards after a reception (averaged 5.3 yards after the catch in 2016). While not an elite talent, Benjamin’s work ethic and skill set proved to be vital to the Chargers last season, which ultimately earned him a place amongst a loaded receiving corps.

This season, Benjamin’s value will be fairly fluid from week to week and he will usually be considered a high-risk flex player with a high-ceiling depending on the match up. However, with highly-touted rookie wideout Mike Williams still at least a month away from being ready to play, Benjamin has a window albeit a shrinking one to prove that he can be clutch for the Chargers again in 2017.

While Benjamin may lack the target shares to be a true fantasy workhorse (just four targets and three receptions in week 1), the fact that he almost always positions himself downfield allows him to beat his projected point total with one catch and long run into the end zone. Against thin secondaries, Benjamin will be particularly valuable as quarterback Phillip is not afraid to go deep consistently if there is a miss match downfield.

In the end, Benjamin is currently nothing more than a weekly pick up and then drop prospect who flashes impressive upside at times but will ultimately fade into the background down the road. While the Chargers week 2 match up against the Dolphins could allow Benjamin to pull off another productive week, his role could be reduced quickly especially once Mike Williams returns to the Chargers.

I’m going to stake my claim at the beginning of this article: if the best plans you can make on a Thursday night in college is breaking up someone else’s fun, you are a f*cking loser, and truly, I feel sorry for you. Last Thursday, a group of about 20 students (*cough LOSERS cough*) at the University of Virginia shut down a ‘cops and robbers’ themed frat party, claiming it poked fun at “mass incarceration”. What are they going to do next? Go to day cares and reprimand children for playing the game ‘cops and robbers’?

Not only that but they reportedly called the people attending the party “spoiled brats of the frat”. Correct me if I’m wrong, but that sounds like stereotyping, no? These idiot LOSER kids protested under the guise of justice but were really just being low-key prejudiced themselves. That exemplifies the f*ckery that is political correctness.

The Delta Psi fraternity at the University — commonly referred to as the St. Anthony Hall fraternity or “the Hall” — held a party Thursday night which has been criticized by some students on social media as encouraging racist conduct by inviting partygoers to wear themed “cops and robbers” attire. It was reportedly shut down by student protesters, according to a Facebook post by activist organization U.Va. Students United.

Student protesters allegedly confronted attendees of the party for an hour before fraternity members called the police claiming that the protesters were trespassing on private property, according to the post made by U.Va. Students United on Friday.

Predictably, the protestors took to Facebook (because did you really protest if you didn’t post about it on social media?) to bloviate about the purity of their moral compass and why they did what they did. Naturally, it was all a crock of shit — but let me clarify. What they are saying about mass incarceration is true, but that is not why these frat bros threw this party and it is not why the protesters cared.

U.Va. Students United criticized the conduct and attire of party attendees, condemning the fraternity for hosting the party and allowing “willful ignorance that allows white supremacy to continue.”

“The members of the frat wore orange jumpsuits, with bandanas tied around their heads, chains and tattoos drawn on their arms,” the Facebook post read. “These ‘costumes’ make a joke of mass incarceration and the prison-industrial complex, systems that disproportionately brutalize people of color.”

“The predominantly white members of this fraternity got to take their costumes off at the end of the night, people trapped in the prison system do not,” the post continued. “Historically, the police have justified violence against people of color in the name of protecting white women, and in wearing these costumes, these women made a joke of that legacy of violence.”

They can cry equality till the cows come home, and they should, because everyone will believe them. But I’m way too woke on this one — these are a bunch of kids with a vendetta against Greek life, plain and simple. ‘Cops and robbers’ is one of the oldest theme parties there are, and just because a bunch of frat bros decides to have one, doesn’t mean they’re making some political joke about the relationship between prison and African Americans.

Fort Bragg

Reports indicate that over a dozen soldiers have been injured after an explosion at Fort Bragg in North Carolina.

The explosion reportedly happened during a training exercise, although it is unclear what caused the explosion at this time.

While Fort Bragg has yet to release an official statement at this time, Lt. Col. Rob Bockholt, a spokesman for U.S. Army Special Operations Command, said officials do not yet know the exact number of injured soliders or the extent of those injuries. Bockholt also could not clairfy what caused the injuries.

“There was an incident that occurred on one of the ranges,” Lt. Col. Rob Bockholt said. “We’re looking into exactly what happened.”

According to Bockholt, the injured soldiers belong to a unit under USASOC’s command and that the USASOC is investigating the incident.

While the exact number of injured has yet to be confirmed, early reports indicated that 15 were injured and they were transported to the Womack Army Medical Center.

This cyber-beef may have gotten Team Immortals CS:GO in more heat than the fact that they had to forfeit a game in the Dreamhack Montreal tournament. One team member by the name of KNG is being criticized for reacting poorly to a tweet by another member of the Esports community.

Pujan “FNS” Mehta of Counter Logic Gaming tweeted out, “Worst part is I lost to a team with 3 players who were hung over,” after losing to the Immortals in the tournament.

Vito “KNG” Giuseppe tweeted back, “You’ll prove it or I’ll kill you.”

Following a long Twitter battle, in which Esports fans backed up both sides, Mehta claimed his comment to be “just a joke” and apologized. However, Giuseppe still refuses to apologize for his cyber-threat.

Immortals CEO Noah Whinston stated that he will address this matter internally and “actions should have consequences.”

Meanwhile, Giuseppe has been sent back to Brazil as a result of Vista issues. As a result, Team Immortals has replaced him until KNG is able to return in North America.

Tokyo Game Show is right around the corner! While we wait for the September 21st convention to begin, developers and publishers have begun to reveal exactly what will be shown on the show floor. After a lukewarm yet stellar showing at this year’s E3, Sony still has three more conventions to attend before the year is out with Tokyo Game Show being the first.

Sony’s past showings at the show have always been top notch and this year seems to be no different! Odessa Police Department are currently looking for the suspect in Thursday morning’s shooting at the parking lot of T&T Donuts. Nathon Gaytan, 25, is accused of shooting and killing a 27-year-old man and then shooting at a 23-year-old woman before fleeing the scene. Gaytan has been charged with Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Kyle Armer, 27, has been identified as the murder victim, who was shot in a parking lot in the 3700 block of Andrews Highway. At 5:21 A.M., Odessa police responded to gunshots heard at this location.

When officers arrived at the scene of the crime, they found Armer dead inside a truck with a 23-year-old woman. She told officers that they were sitting in a pick-up truck in the parking lot of T&T Donuts when the suspect opened fire in the direction of Armer, hitting him multiple times with bullets.

The suspect then allegedly approached the female inside the truck and opened fire once more before fleeing the scene. According to OPD, the woman was able to avoid injury.

Police have investigated the shooting and have already identified a prime suspect in the shooting. A 25-year-old man by the name of Nathon Gaytan has been named the suspect in Thursday morning shooting incident in the parking lot of T&T Donuts. A warrant has been issued for Gaytan’s arrest.

Isaiah Wright, one of the biggest stars from the Netflix hit Last Chance U and his brother, former Indiana University wide receiver Camion Patrick, have been charged with murder.

Patrick, 22, of Knoxville, and Wright, 20, of Harriman, have each been charged with one count of criminal homicide in connection with the July 25 murder of 18-year-old Caleb Thomas Radford.

According to the Alcoa Police Department, Patrick, who is currently studying at the University of Indiana, was taken into custody by campus police on the morning of Wednesday, September 13. Wright was arrested in Harriman, Tennessee and was transferred to the Blount County Jail.

Both brothers have been connected to Radford’s murder, who was found stabbed to death on Topside Road at Buck Drive around 10:42 PM on July 25.

With the brothers’ arrests, there are now four people charged in connection with Radford’s death.

On Aug. 3, the Alcoa Police Department announced two men were charged with criminal homicide in connection with the slaying. Police Chief David Carswell said Keshawn Lonnell Hopewell, 21, of Alcoa, and Itiq Tivone Green, 28, of Louisville were being held on $1 million bond each.

How can you not love Lil Dicky? Only LD could take what seems like a two-bit gimmick and flesh it out into an entire 7-track EP.

Back in 2015, Lil Dicky dropped his debut studio album “Professional Rapper” and on it was this song “Pillow Talk”, which would eventually become one of the album’s singles. Dicky wasn’t alone on the track though, as it featured a rapper called “Brain”.

Except, Brain isn’t a rapper at all — it’s just LD’s subconscious in cartoon form:

And now it appears as though Brain is going “solo”, as he (it?) has dropped his (it’s?) own 7-track EP.

Yet another example of Lil Dicky’s ingenuity in the ever bland rap landscape. With the mumble-tone Xanax rap currently dominating the airwaves (Travis Scott, Lil Uzi Vert, etc), it’s always refreshing when Lil Dicky pops up with something far more creative and musically capable than anything today’s top rappers are producing.

The dead body of a 31-year-old pregnant teacher was found in a shallow grave on Wednesday in Damascus, Maryland. Laura Wallen had been pregnant for four months and was missing for nine days before her body was discovered by authorities. Her boyfriend, Tyler Tessier, 32, has been charged with Wallen’s murder shortly after her body was discovered in a remote field.

On Monday, Tessier appeared at a press conference with the victim’s parents. The suspect held Wallen’s mother’s hand and appeared concerned about the woman who was believed to be four-months pregnant with his baby.

“If somebody has her, please understand that you’ve taken away a huge person in so many people’s life,” Tyler Tessier said Monday. “I don’t know where she is. I don’t know. I pray that she’s safe and that she comes back. That’s all I care about.”

Now, authorities are under the belief that Tessier buried Wallen in a shallow grave. On Wednesday, September 13, Tessier was arrested only hours after authorities uncovered the dead body of Laura Wallen.

Police say that Tessier’s involvement in the press conference was a “calculated” move by detectives as they wanted to hear what the suspect had to say about Wallen’s disappearance.  The police chief said, “The decision to allow him to participate in that news conference was a calculated decision made by the detectives in this case for the express purpose of hearing what he had to say. It was done with the approval and knowledge of the victim’s family.”

Tessier had asked Wallen’s father’s permission to marry his daughter. However, this 32-year-old man already had a fiancée. Both woman knew about Tessier’s past relationships. However, both ladies were originally under the belief that Tessier was seeing them exclusively. Wallen made an attempt to meet up with her boyfriend’s fiancée, as she sent her a text message on August 28.

The text message said, “It’s important that some things are cleared up and I would imagine that if you were in my position, you’d want some answers as well. By no means is this an attempt at confrontation, just looking for an explanation.”

Wallen was reported missing about a week later. Tessier claims to have last seen her alive on September 4. But her family said they haven’t seen the 31-year-old since the first day of September.

On September 2, another text message from Wallen reports that Tessier had taken her to an open field “in the middle of nowhere.”

The police chief said, “In the text, she sent a text message… saying that Tyler had taken her to an open field in the Damascus area, and she says I am not sure why we’re up here, but he’s taken me to the middle of nowhere. The friend said take a picture, and she did.”

An autopsy of Laura Wallen is currently underway.

At around noon on September 13, detectives and members of the Montgomery County Police Department were “searching a wooded area….Cadaver dogs indicated on the area” and, at the conclusion of their search, detectives discovered the body of Laura Wallen “in a shallow grave,” said Manger.

Police claim that they’ve “determined over the past week that he (Tessier) made several visits to that area.”

“The break in the case” came when it was determined that “Tessier had made several trips to an acquaintance’s property…” in Damascus, the chief alleged. Detectives spotted tire tracks and freshly dug ground on another property in the area. They were given permission to search through the dirt, where they found Wallen’s dead body. The police said that the owner of the property has nothing to do with the case or the death.

The police chief added that authorities “can only speculate as to the motive…I know people have speculated, the fact he was in another relationship and the fact the victim was pregnant. That’s all speculation. I don’t know what the motive is in this case.”

Who Was Laura Wallen?

Laura Wallen was a 31-year-old social studies teacher from Olney, Maryland. She “was reported missing Sept. 5, after she failed to show up for the first day of classes. She was four months pregnant,” The Baltimore Sun reported.

Recently, on Facebook, Wallen wrote about helping Hurricane Harvey victims and about visiting a farm. “Weekends on the farm… can’t wait to be loving on all of the animals ,” she wrote. She wrote on a Netflix video, “This looks like a good binge to watch before school starts back up… new school year… new opportunities to watch kids grow and reach for their true potential.”

Wallen is said to be very well-liked at the school where she taught social studies. One of her students, by the name of Lindsay Murray, made a tribute for the deceased educator. “She tells how she used to hug students,” ABC2 reported. “How she smiled. How Lindsay told her stuff no one else knew….Murray said she texted with her days before she went missing. Nothing unusual. Nothing strange. They were so close that Wallen texted a sonogram announcing her pregnancy.”

The television station reported, “Lindsay says Wallen wrote a letter of recommendation for her to enter Towson. She is living in the same dorm and on the same floor as her former teacher. All she wants is to have Wallen come home.”

Reports around 2:30 PM EST indicated that there was an active shooter at Pace University, however it has since been clarified that it was a false alarm — while there is no active shooter, police are investifating reports of an unidentified man with a gun.

At the time of the incident, NYPD escorted students from the campus.

Police are on the scene. Early reports indicate the incident is happening at 41 Park Row in Manhattan. The incident was first reported shortly after 2:30 PM EST. According to New York City police, there have been no reports of shots fired and no one has been shot.

No arrests have been made at this time:

UPDATE (3:00 PM): Pace University and various NYPD accounts tweeted that there was police activity at One Pace Plaza and that it was a FALSE ALARM. There are NO injures and everyone is SAFE.

NBC New York reports that at least one student entering a sixth-floor bathroom saw what appeared to be live cartridges from a gun in a stall. When the stall door opened, the student saw a man with a duffel bag. The student did not see a gun, but called security and security called 911.

Police say a search of the area was conducted and the campus evacuated as a precaution. A person who matched the description of the man the student reported seeing in the bathroom stall was being interviewed.

Broad City is back in business, as the series kicked off its fourth season Wednesday night. Ilana Glazer is the co-star and co-creator of the show that airs after new episodes of South Park on Comedy Central. Ilana is a goofy lady who loves smoking weed everyday and cracking jokes. Sounds like a perfect catch, huh?

Glazer first dived into comedy while taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in 2006. She performed improv and stand-up show for the next several years in New York City.

In 2009, the world got its first taste of Broad City when Glazer teamed up with Abbi Jacobson to create the Broad City web series, which quickly gained traction, receiving positive reviews and major attention from media outlets such as Entertainment Weekly, USA Today, and The Wall Street Journal.

Comedian Amy Poehler caught wind of the comedic duo and helped them shop around their idea of a Broad City pilot episode for television. In 2011, FX picked up the series. However, they didn’t approve the script and ended up selling over the show’s rights to Comedy Central. The show debuted in January 2014, receiving positive reviews and excellent ratings. Broad City was Comedy Central’s highest-rated first season since 2012, with an average of 1.2 million viewers.

Broad City is on their fourth season. Last night, we were treated to an origins story, revealing how the fictionalized versions of Ilana and Abbi met one another.

Coming off embarrassing home losses in their season openers, both the Texans and the Bengals are looking to get on track in week 2.

North Korea just fired a missile from Pyongyang in the direction of Japan. Meanwhile, Japanese officials have warned citizens, setting off sirens, and advising them to take shelter. The missile overflew the Japanese island of Hokkaido, according to reporter Noga Tarnopolsky. The missile sailed over Japan and landed in the Pacific Ocean. No one was harmed, but a message has been sent.

Update (9/14/17; 6:40 P.M.): South Korea has fired a ballistic missile off its coast in retaliation for the North Korea launch. The missile from South Korea reportedly landed in the sea.

Update (9/14/17; 6:34 P.M.): South Korean President Moon will hold an emergency meeting with the National Security Council, according to a report from Yonhap News.

The Japanese Government is advising people in their country to stay away from anything resembling missile debris. Officials are saying that a ballistic missile launched from North Korea likely flew over Japan.

The South Korean Government believes that North Korea fired an unidentified missile from the Sunan district in its capital, Pyongyang, toward the eastern direction.

Meanwhile, United States and South Korean are analyzing the details relating to the launch, the South’s Office of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said early on Friday.

On September 3, 2017, North Korea is believed to have tested out a hydrogen bomb, according to the top commander of US nuclear forces. This development has worried Air Force General John E. Hyten, commander of Strategic Command, who is concerned about this weapon’s massive scale of destruction if used in times of war.

Hyten observed the size of the underground explosion (along with other factors) caused by the Sep. 3rd bomb test, which helped him come to the conclusion that North Korea was testing out a hydrogen bomb, which is a lot stronger than the fission, or atomic, bombs, which the North Korean military has tested in the past.

A new report coming from ThinkProgress is claiming that ESPN was ready to replace Jemele Hill after her anti-Trump comments, as she previously called the 45th United States President “a white supremacist.” Not only that, but this new report, written by Lindsay Gibbs, is now claiming that ESPN was specifically looking to replace Hill for the night with another “black” host.

As the story goes, no other black sports commentator agreed to fill the role. ESPN also allegedly wanted to replace co-host Michael Smith for the night with another black person to fill the role. But since they were only left with white hosts, they allegedly decided to let it ride and keep both original hosts on board for the night. However, ESPN is denying these claims and are refuting all allegations that suggest that they’ve asked any other anchors to fill in the roles of Hill or Smith.

The statement from ESPN reads, “We never asked any other anchors to do last night’s show. Period.”

Hill — who was caught in the middle of a firestorm of controversy that began on Monday night when she tweeted that President Donald Trump was a white supremacist, which escalated when ESPN issued a statement on Tuesday reprimanding her comments and which exploded when White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said that Hill’s tweets were a “fireable offense” — was calm and composed throughout the hour, and the show went on as usual.

However, two sources familiar with the situation told ThinkProgress that this was not the original plan.

ESPN originally tried to keep Hill off the air on Wednesday evening, but Smith refused to do the show without her, the sources said. Both sources also said that producers reached out to two other black ESPN hosts, Michael Eaves and Elle Duncan, to ask them to serve as fill-ins for the show — but Eaves and Duncan did not agree to take the place of Hill and Smith, either.

Faced with the possibility of having to replace Hill and Smith with white co-hosts, the sources said, ESPN then called Hill and asked her to come back on her show.

Jemele Hill previously apologized for her loaded comment, calling Donald Trump “a white supremacist.” She said that she regrets the damage her comments may have done to the ESPN brand.

“My comments on Twitter expressed my personal beliefs,” Hill said. “My regret is that my comments and the public way I made them painted ESPN in an unfair fight. My respect for the company and my colleagues remains unconditional.”

After ESPN disavowed the actions of Jemele Hill on the company’s Twitter page, many of her colleagues with African ancestry have taken to social media to stand up for Hill…
