On September 8, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson will look to defend his Flyweight championship belt for about the one hundredth time (eleventh to be exact). Standing in his way is Ray Borg who has a professional MMA record of 13-2. However, despite Borg’s impressive record, it looks very unlikely that he will be able to dethrone Johnson.

Demetrious Johnson has a professional MMA record of 29-2-1 and has not lost since 2011. Johnson first won the Flyweight belt after defeating Joseph Benavidez in a split decision back in 2012. Since then, Johnson has defended the belt against extremely strong fighters like John Dodson and Henry Cejudo. Johnson is ranked the number one pound-for-pound fighter according to UFC.com and for good reason. Johnson is arguably the most complete fighter of all time. He has a phenomenal ground game and has won 11 fights via submission along with five fights via knockout. However, the most impressive attribute that Johnson possesses is his stamina. Johnson has won 11 fights via decision and is able to wear down opponents in the later rounds without showing any signs of fatigue. If Johnson is going to lose the title, he will have to get knockout out or submitted early on because he will always be able to dominate the last few rounds.

Johnson’s opponent for this fight is Ray Borg. In order to receive this title fight, Borg had to defeat Jussier Formiga on March 11 which he did in a unanimous decision. However, despite being 13-2 in his MMA career, Borg’s list of opponents have been underwhelming, to say the least. His opponents have had solid records in their respective careers but lack elite striking and submission skills which is why Borg’s last four fights have all gone to decisions. Borg does have six victories via submission and will look to take Johnson to the ground early and often. However, Johnson is also an elite wrestler and might be able to overpower Borg on the ground. Borg’s strategy could be very risky. However, against an opponent of Johnson’s caliber, it might be his only chance at pulling off this historic upset.

In my opinion, Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is the greatest UFC fighter of all time. He is simple elite in every category and can beat any opponent in a variety of ways. No offense to Borg but I just cannot see him winning this fight. In order to beat Johnson, he will have to win the fight in the first three rounds. Borg has never gone over three full rounds in his career and I expect him to run out of gas past the third round as a result. If Borg does not win the fight early, look for Johnson to dominate late and win by either a late round finish or by a unanimous decision. Personally, I think Johnson wins via TKO in the fourth round and defends his belt for the eleventh time.

The New York Giants head down to Arlington to take on the Dallas Cowboys for the first Sunday Night Football game of the season.

Both playoff teams last season, both the Giants and the Cowboys head into the 2017 season as one of the favorites in the NFC. Led by Eli Manning and Odell Beckham, the Giants added weapons to their offense in the offseason, signing future Hall of Fame receiver Brandon Marshall and drafting tight end Evan Engram.

As for the Cowboys, they are led by second-year studs Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliot. Elliot, who will be suspended weeks 2-8, will be playing tonight due to the timing of the suspension verdict.

Elliot is also assisted with he top offensive line in the league to form gaps to be able to run.

Irma is set to strike Atlanta, Georgia’s capital city, by Monday morning, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

The eye of Irma should move over the Lower Florida Keys shortly, and then move near or over the west coast of the Florida Peninsula later today through tonight. Irma should then move inland over northern Florida and southwestern Georgia Monday afternoon.

 

The storm is going strong. Sustained winds are blowing at 130 mph Maximum sustained winds and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 220 miles. Heavy rain is expected. Georgia Governor Nathan Deal has responded to Irma by declaring a state of emergency in 94 counties. Currently, Fulton County is not included on that list.

Delta Airlines Has A Message To Their Customers Regarding Hurricane Irma

Delta Airlines has their hub located in Atlanta, Georgia. Therefore, they are asking customers to reroute their flight in response to the storm. Eric Chase Bolling, 19, the son of former Fox News host Eric Bolling, was found dead in his University of Colorado bed on Friday. Bolling was reportedly enduring “emotional torture” over the sexual harassment claims against Fox News father. He was found on Friday, September 8, his blankets over him in a normal position.

According to various reports, Bolling, 19, was ‘destroyed’ after his father left Fox News amid claims he sent unsolicited photos of male genitalia to colleagues.

While Bolling Jr’s exact cause of death is unknown at this time, the “working theory” is that he died from an overdose. However, souces tell TMZ that no suicide note, pill bottles or drug paraphernalia were found at the scene.

Sources familiar with the death investigation tell TMZ, Eric Chase was “destroyed” by his dad’s departure from Fox News Channel … forced out because years ago Eric Sr. had texted pics of his genitalia. Sources connected with Eric Sr. tell us he actually made the decision to part ways earlier than he wanted because he knew his son was having trouble dealing with the publicity and the embarrassment.

Similar to farts (sorry, chicks), Harry Potter is just something I’ll never outgrow.

No matter how old I get or how world-weary I become, I will always giggle at the sound of a fart, and I will always turn on a Harry Potter movie when its airing on ABC Family (unless a Batman movie is on somewhere).

Now, while I was far from a perfect college student (actually, far from a good one), I think that has less to do with my work ethic and more to do with my lack of Harry Potter-related classes. If I had more teachers like this one, who fuses Harry Potter lore with Aristotle, I would have probably had a 4.0 (doubtful).

“These are fundamental human concerns,” Hartz said. “Philosophy is, in my view, critical thinking about fundamental areas of human concern.”

Rowling’s stories provide understandable examples of philosophical concepts that can be difficult to comprehend, said Miles Nelson, a second-year university student who took the course last spring. He said the class also shows the depth in Rowling’s work that many people may not have realized if they read the Harry Potter books when they were children.

Nelson said he was inspired to minor in philosophy after taking the course.

“This class really solidified how much I love thinking about hard problems and questions with hard answers,” Nelson said.

Even cooler yet, Hartz has considered teaching philosophy through other pieces of pop culture, such as video games or the HBO series Game Of Thrones.

Cara Mund, a Miss America contestant from North Dakota, has become the first ever Miss America winner from that state.

Mund, 23, was also the first North Dakota woman to reach the top five. Mund, who graduated from Brown University, took home a $50,000 scholarship as part of her winnings at the pageant in Atlantic City on Sunday, September 10.

The District of Columbia, Missouri, New Jersey and Texas rounded out the top 5.

First runner-up was Miss Missouri, Jennifer Davis. The 51 women were judged in categories including talent, evening wear, lifestyle and fitness (the swimsuit portion of the competition) and their answer to an on-stage question.

Judge Maria Menounos asked Mund for her thoughts on President Donald Trump withdrawing the United States from the climate accord.

“I do believe it’s a bad decision,” she said. “Once we reject that, we take ourselves out of the negotiation table and that’s something that we really need to keep in mind. “There is evidence that climate change is existing so whether you believe it or not, we need to be at that table, and I just think it’s a bad decision on behalf of the United States.”

The Miss America pageant was last night, with Cara Mund becoming the first ever contestant from North Dakota to win the contest. However, despite this, it’s top-5 finisher Miss Texas who is dominating the morning headlines.

An overreaction, to say the least, Margana Wood, Miss Texas 2017, blew the media away with her “evisceration” (LOL) of President Trump. And look, I’m all for piling on President Trump, but if this is now considered “tearing into”, then the pussification of America is truly complete.

The AP Top 25 for week 3 of the college football season is out, and Oklahoma moved up to #2 in the Associated Press college football poll behind Alabama after the Sooners defeated Ohio State in Columbus on Saturday. This is the University of Oklahoma’s highest ranking since 2011. As a result of their home loss, Ohio State fell six spots, from No. 2 to No. 8, their lowest ranking since November 2014.

As usual, the University of Alabama remained on top, receiving 58 first place votes. Clemson stayed a number 3 after defeating Auburn, while USC moved up two places from 8th to 6th after it’s to sixth following a victory over Stanford at the LA Coliseum. Following the loss, the Stanford Cardinals fell from 14 to 19.

The UCLA Bruins appeared on the top 25 for the first time this season, moving into the rankings for the first time since beginning the 2016 season ranked 16th. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish were the only team to fall out of the top 25 after their loss to the Georgia Bulldogs.

This week, the No. 14 Louisville Cardinals have a massive opportunity to improve their position as they host the No. 3 Clemson Tigers at home in Kentucky on Saturday night.

Well as it turns out, some lucky entrepreneurial fellow was hit (or claims to have been hit) by one of McGregor’s flying Monster Energy cans, and he’s decided to sue. For how much you ask? Just a cool $95,000, that’s all.

Maybe more hilarious than the lawsuit itself is how the plaintiff, William Pegg, calculated the $95,000 he feels he’s owed: by counting the number of times McGregor was punched by Diaz.

According to a lawsuit obtained by The Blast, William Pegg was at the press conference for McGregor’s fight with Nate Diaz on August 17, 2016 at the Copperfield Theater in Las Vegas.

As fight fans know, that presser became infamous when Diaz stormed out and the two began throwing water bottles at each other. You can see in the video above, at one point, McGregor grabs a can of what appears to be Monster energy drink off the table and throws it at Diaz.

In his lawsuit, Pegg claims he was hit in the back by the can, near his left shoulder. He says he incurred medical expenses totaling just under $5,000 as a result. Pegg is seeking damages and believes he’s entitled to at least $95,000. How did he arrive at that number, you ask?

Pegg claims in the lawsuit that Conor McGregor made $15,000,000 from his fight with Diaz, during which he was “significantly” struck by Diaz 166 times. So … $15,000,000 divided by 166 is about $90,000 (the extra $5k comes from the medical expenses).

According to The Blast, McGregor’s lawyers have filed a response denying any responsibility, which is peculiar, consider there is literal video evidence of him hurling Monster Energy cans like a primate slinging its own feces.

Hurricane Irma has downgraded to a tropical storm on Monday, but is still potentially life-threatening as a result of storm surges and flooding. Miami really received the smack-down from the hurricane. Millions are without power in Florida as a result of gushing floods.

So far, two million people are without power and five Floridians are dead. On Sunday morning, a Florida correctional officer and a sheriff died after a head-on collision  during Hurricane Irma in Hardee County, the Miami Herald reported.

ABC reported “one person was found dead in a home in Shark Key on Sunday.” Meanwhile, two people were found dead in Monroe County, which is part of the Florida Keys.

“Drone footage shows a nearly deserted Miami Beach one day after,” CNN tweeted:

It appears as if the buildings are floating in the sea. The Instagram update translates to “Irma floods Miami and devastates the Keys.”

Some people are taking advantage of the five-finger discount deals as barely any police were on the street as a result the storm. Although, some suspected looters were caught on camera…

At around 9:10 A.M., Hurricane Irma first made contact with the U.S. in the Cudjoe Key. The National Hurricane Center quickly responded to this disturbance with “Hurricane #Irma makes landfall at Cudjoe Key in the lower Florida Keys.”

The NHC also wrote: ““The center of Hurricane Irma made landfall at Cudjoe Key in the lower Florida Keys at 9:10 am EDT. A gust to 106 mph (171 km/h) was just reported at the National Key Deer Refuge in Big Pine Key.”

The biggest reason why people are dying because of drowning in the storm is because of storm surges. One to fifteen foot storm surges are expected along the west coast of Florida, from Marco Island to the Florida Keys.

“Storm surge flooding of 10-15 ft is now expected along the SW Florida coast,” the NHC wrote in a tweet. “This is a dire and life-threatening situation.”

Storm surges can be very fatal to people living in coastal areas during a hurricane. Gov. Rick Scott put particular emphasis on the dangers involved with a hurricane surge. But what is exactly is a storm surge? Officials and storm experts can warn you of the danger of “storm surge,” but to truly play it safe, it’s best to know what exactly they’re talking about.

What is a storm surge?

According to the National Hurricane Center, a storm surge is “an abnormal rise of water generated by a storm, over and above the predicted astronomical tides.”

Storm surges were largely to blame for the deaths and destruction brought about by Hurricane Katrina (2005). Roughly 1500 people lost their lives during the storm and and “many of those deaths occurred directly, or indirectly, as a result of storm surge,” also according to the National Hurricane Center.

Don’t confuse a storm surge with a storm tide. A storm tide, which is defined as a water level rise due to the combination of storm surge and the astronomical tide. However, storm tide can be very dangerous, as some can reach more than 20 feet in length and cause extreme flooding.

How has storm surges affected Florida during Hurricane Irma?

• South Santee River southward to Jupiter Inlet

Florida Gov. Scott said Sunday that “we’re going to do everything we can to keep every person in our state alive and protected,”and “I know the winds are going to be very devastating and life threatening. But I’m also very concerned about the storm surge.”

Scott added that, “People don’t realize it’s going to come into your house, it’s going to fill up maybe your entire first floor, and then it’s going to flow out. So I don’t know how you’re going to survive that. So you just have to think about, you know, you’ve got to get as high ground as you can and, and, and just pray,” Scott said.

The governor warned that Irma “is like” Hurricane Andrew, which hit Florida 25 years prior. However, he called Irma “Andrew for a whole state.”

Scott has called out 7,000 national guard members to the area. But he mentioned one significant challenge…

The governor said, “It didn’t just impact one coast where we could position assets on the other coast. And so it’s going to … take us a little bit longer to do everything we care to do after a storm because we have to bring the assets south. Some of them are even out of state because we couldn’t … pre-position them here.”

According to ComicBook,  Wein created Wolverine with artist John Romita, Sr. The character debuted in The Incredible Hulk #181 in 1974.

In addition to Wolverine, Wein was involved in the co-creation of X-Men stalwarts Nightcrawler, Storm, and Colossus.

DC Comics confirmed the news of Wein’s passing on Twitter:

“Len Wein was one of the most welcoming people and legends in comics from the moment I joined DC eight years ago,” said Diane Nelson, president of DC Entertainment. “He wrote or edited almost every major DC character — there’s hardly a facet of DC’s world that Len didn’t touch. I, DC, and the industry will miss him and his talent very much. Our love and prayers go out to Christine, his family, and his fans.”

Back in March, Wein tweeted that he wished he had Wolverine’s healing factor.

In the year 2008, Wein was inducted into the Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame.

Hugh Jackmanm, who played the Wolverine character for 17 years, took to Twitter to pay tribute to Wein:
