Wooooooooo! “Nature Boy” Ric Flair is back, baby! He released a video statement to his fans via Twitter demonstrating his new-found health. It looks like Ric is still kicking. He’s full of life and looks like he’s recovered from his coma.

Flair suffered from a heart condition called alcoholic cardiomyopathy. On August 14, the 16-time world champion underwent surgery in Georgia hospital to extract an obstructive piece of his bowel. But this resulted in a slew of medical complications, most seriously kidney failure, requiring dialysis treatment and ongoing hospitalization while under a medically-induced coma.

Many WWE superstars came out of the woodwork to honor the ailing legend. Right when news hit that Flair was hospitalized superstars such as John Cena, Matt Hardy, Naomi, Nikki Bella, and more.

On Saturday, Flair released a video statement, with a shirt that reads, “I ain’t dead yet mother f***ers.”

Tropical Storm Lidia 2017: Forecast, Map, Path & Live Updates

MicroCasting St.Louis/YouTube

Tropical Storm Lidia swept through the Baja California Peninsula of Mexico on Saturday, as massive rain hit the region resulting in flooded streets and homes, property damage and the death of at least four people. But authorities are now under the belief that the death toll will continue to rise as emergency crews respond to the affected areas.

Homes have been ransacked, tourists are stranded and people are seeking shelter. Local networks in the region showed their audiences a video of vehicles being swept away by floods.

Arturo de la Rosa Escalante, the mayor of the twin resorts of Los Cabos, informed the public on Friday about the four confirmed deaths: two died after being electrified by power lines, a woman drowned to death, and a baby was ripped from a mother’s arm while she crossed through a flood.

State Tourism Secretary Luis Genero Ruiz reports that at least 20 thousand tourists are stranded as a result of Tropical Storm Lidia. Airlines have effectively suspended flights to the area. Meanwhile, 1,400 people sought refuge in storm shelters as Lidia flooded the streets.

Here’s a map of Tropical Storm Lidia’s trajectory. The storm has slightly weakened, but not before laying havoc to the Baja California Peninsula of Mexico

Tropical Storm Lidia 2017: Forecast, Map, Path & Live Updates

When Did Tropical Storm Lidia Hit Mexico?

According to the U.S. National Hurricane Center, Lidia officially made landfall early on Friday, hitting west of La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur state. On Saturday, the storm decreased its intensity to 75 kph. By Sunday, the storm is expected to become a remnant low pressure system.

Lidia’s rains has hailed down over much of Mexico, including the capital. The flooding was blamed for the city airport being briefly shut down. At the time, the storm was stationed 115 kilometres east-southeast of Punta Eugenia and heading 19 kph northwest.

Will this Tropical Storm Lidia affect the United States?

The U.S. National Hurricane Center reports that some of the storm’s tropical moisture will end up affecting the U.S. desert Southwest over the Labor Day weekend, including parts of western Arizona, southern California and southern Nevada. Thunderstorms and scattered showers are expected to hit these areas.

Alex Wubbels was aggressively arrested on July 26 after refusing a demand from Officer Jeff Payne to extract a blood sample from an unconscious patient. Wubbels was not charged with any crime. She works as a nurse at Utah’s University Hospital. She’s also a two time national alpine ski champion. Wubbels is even a former Olympic athlete, who competed at the 1998 and 2002 Winter Olympics under her maiden name.

In the video, Wubbels can be heard screaming out, “help me” and “you’re assaulting me.”

Officer Payne was given orders to arrest Nurse Wubbels for interfering with an investigation. However, in 2016, the U.S. Supreme Court that the Constitution does not allow unwarranted blood tests. As a result of the unlawful arrest, Payne has been placed on paid leave and has been taken off the department’s blood sample duty.

Mayor J. Biskupski condemned/apologized the actions of the officer who arrested Nurse Wubbels.

According her lawyer, Karra Porter, Wubbels was placed in a hot police car for 20 minutes before realizing that blood had already been drawn from the patient as a result of treatment. Wubbels was soon released without any charges.

Christina Judd, a spokesperson for the Salt Lake City Police, said the department was alarmed by what they saw in the video.

Fantasy Football Rankings: Top 10 Best Wide Receivers in 2017

$

For any fantasy team to be successful, it is essential to have a fairly well-rounded squad that boasts consistent scorers every week. However, when you look at what the NFL emphasizes in terms of prominent contributors, it’s easy to see the importance of a talented wide receiver. While quarterbacks get the majority of the glory, even the most talented signal callers would be lost without a reliable receiving corps.

When it comes to selecting a productive receiving threat, it’s important to analyze not just what a talented pass catcher does on an individual level, but how their skill set fits in with the team that they are apart of. Although a proven weapon such as Demaryius Thomas may seem like a top fantasy prospect at first glance, his stock becomes noticeably reduced when you consider who is actually throwing him the ball. In this sense, selecting a valuable wideout can be a much more arduous and involved endeavor than it initially appears.

10. Terrelle Pryor, Washington Redskins

Instagram Photo

A well-known quarterback turned wide receiver, Terrelle Pryor views the game from a unique perspective that will make him a much more cerebral pass-catcher than most. In 2016, Pryor was a favorite target amongst several quarterbacks in Cleveland as he garnered 135 targets (13th most in the NFL) including 14 while in the end zone (ninth most). Despite the fact that 26.7% of the balls that were thrown his way were off-target, Pryor still managed to become a 1000-yard receiver. Now with the Redskins, Pryor should accrue the same high volume targets while being featured much more prominently in an offense that is actually effective at putting up points on the scoreboard.

9. T.Y. Hilton, Indianapolis Colts

Instagram Photo

A solid weapon in fantasy over the past few years, T.Y. Hilton took a decisive step to being a legitimate top-tier receiver in 2016.  Averaging 9.5 yards per target (10th), Hilton successfully finished as a top-10 fantasy receiver during 38% of his outings (sixth best). While he is not the red-zone threat that most fantasy owners come to expect from a top receiving prospect, he his one of the more efficient wideouts in the league and should continue to be targeted heavily in an Andrew Luck led offense.

8. Doug Baldwin, Seattle Seahawks

Instagram Photo

Left out of ESPN’s top-100 players rankings, Doug Baldwin is one of the more underrated receivers that has proven his immense value every year both in fantasy and in reality. Despite his touchdown production being cut in half last season, he still set career highs in receptions (94) and yardage (1128) on his way to his second consecutive top-10 finish in fantasy. While it’s unlikely we will see Baldwin post another legendary fantasy season like he did in 2015, he is still an excellent choice for your fantasy team considering the Seahawks have become more reliant on passing the ball recently.

7. A.J. Green, Cincinnati Bengals

Instagram Photo

Coming off one his most unproductive seasons that was marred by injury, A.J. Green is looking supremely poised to bounce back for the Bengals in 2017. Despite only playing 10 games last season, Green proved his value consistently as a reliable deep-threat as he averaged 14.6 yards per receptions and pulled in 66 receptions and will see this production sky-rocket assuming he can stay on the field during the regular season. While the addition of rookie receiver John Ross may damper some of Green’s expected resurgence, the veteran wideout should still see his fair share of targets while converting many of them into touchdown scores.

6. Michael Thomas, New Orleans Saints

Instagram Photo

Although Michael Thomas came out of Ohio State as a second round pick that could solidify the Saints receiving corps, hardly anyone imagined that he would look like the incredibly productive fantasy weapon that he was in 2016. Catching 77% of his targets (third best at the position), Thomas posted an impressive nine top-30 fantasy weeks during the final 13 games of the season. With the departure of Brandin Cooks to the Patriots, Thomas should see more targets and opportunities to score than he did last season.

5. Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants

Instagram Photo

While Odell Beckham got off to a slow start last season, he effectively bounced back from his early season woes to set career highs in targets (167) and receptions (101). As a fantasy prospect, Beckham is a low risk pick up as he has finished no worse than the 7th in terms of fantasy points in his three NFL seasons. On top of his already fantastic career numbers, Beckham became one of the most highly targeted wideouts in the end zone last season (15 targets, up from 11 in 2015). Although some believe that the additions of tight end Evan Engram and wide out Brandon Marshall will help Beckham become even more productive as he won’t be as heavily covered, I believe that these additions could actually slightly hurt Beckham if only because they will inevitably take up some of his target shares. Still, Beckham will undoubtedly be a top fantasy product once again, especially if he can replicate his end zone numbers from last season.

4. Mike Evans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Instagram Photo

The most heavily targeted wide receiver last season (175), Mike Evans was a fantasy juggernaut as 20 of his targets came while he was in the end zone (converted 12 0f those targets into touchdowns). Ranked in the top-six in receptions, receiving yards and touchdowns, Evans was a versatile deep threat and was the fourth best scoring wideout in 2016. While the additions of tight end O.J. Howard and wide out DeSean Jackson could detract from Evans’ target total slightly, his big play ability combined with his constant presence in the end zone should ensure that he finishes as a top-five fantasy wide receiver once again.

3. Jordy Nelson, Green Bay Packers

Instagram Photo

After missing the 2015 season with a torn ACL, Jordy Nelson had a bounce-back season for the ages as he caught 14 touchdown passes and finished second amongst wide receivers in fantasy scoring. While Nelson’s big time numbers are impressive, his high-floor makes him even more enticing as one of the most consistent receivers when healthy as he finished 35th or better during all but two of his 16 outings. While some may want to knock Nelson down a peg because of his age (32), he is still the go to guy for quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Considering what Nelson pulled of last season, expect the veteran wideout to accrue his fair share of scoring opportunities throughout the season.

2. Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons

Instagram Photo

While fantasy owners typically covet wideouts that feast in the end zone, Julio Jones has made a living at being one of the best deep threats in the league without always having his feet in the end zone. In 2016, Jones led wideouts in receiving yards (1409) and average yardage per reception (17), which was accomplished despite missing two games due to a toe injury. Although Jones scored just six touchdowns last season, his ability to turn targets (129) into big time receptions (83) makes him an easy pick as one of the top wide receivers in fantasy despite durability concerns.

1. Antonio Brown, Pittsburgh Steelers

Instagram Photo

Considering what Brown has already done in his young career, the inevitable question has to be asked: what can’t Antonio Brown do? Topping fellow wideouts in fantasy points for the third season in a row, Brown has made it abundantly clear that he is a consummate receiver that is showing no signs of slowing down. He finished top-5 in targets, receptions and receiving yards for the fourth consecutive season and will certainly finish somewhere in that stratosphere once again. Unless Brown succumbs to some freak injury, expect him to remain the king of a competitive receiving class in fantasy football in 2017.

Walter Becky is the famed co-founder of rock band Steely Dan. He played guitar, provided back-up vocals and co-wrote songs. His band won multiple Grammy Awards and was cherished by millions of fans. Rolling Stone dubbed Steely Dan as “the perfect musical antiheroes for the Seventies.”

On Sunday, September 3, 2017, Walter Becker passed away at the age of 67. He leaves behind decades worth of songs, memories and a fortune worthy of his contribution to music and pop culture. Let’s take a look at the riches that Becker left behind…

Walter Becker Net Worth as of 2017: $20 Million

Becker left behind a sizeable fortune estimated to be $20 million. He has been apart of rock ‘n’ roll since the early 1970s and continued to make music up until his death. In 2001, Steely Dan was inducted into the Rock Hall of Fame. Becker and his boys are true legends. It all started when a couple of college kids got together to make music…

1971 – 1981

Walter Becker Net Worth 1981

Becker formed Steely Dan with his friend Donald Fagen, who he met while attending Bard College. They were joined by Denny Dias, Jeff “Skunk” Baxter, and drummer Jim Hodder, spending the next three years touring and recording. In 1974, the group released its first album Pretzel Logic.

The group released several more albums in short order. Steely Dan hit the jackpot with their sixth studio album Aja, which was critically and commercially acclaimed, becoming the group’s best selling album.

Steely Dan broke up in 1981 after their seventh studio album Gaucho (1980). The group wouldn’t get back together until 1993. Instead, Walter focused on a life as a record producer in Hawaii.

1981 – Present

After Steely Dan broke up, Becker moved out to Maui and stopped using drugs. He transitioned to a life as a record producer. Becker produced music for stars such as Michael Franks, Fra Lippo Lippi, Rickie Lee Jones, and many more.

In 1993, Becker and Fagen got back together to reform Steely Dan and go on tour. That year, Becker co-produced Fagen’s album Kamakiriad. In return, Fagen co-produced Becker’s 1994 solo record debut called 11 Tracks of Whack. Becker released his second album in 2008 called Circus Money.

In 2000, Steely Dan won four Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year, for eight studio album Two Against Nature. A year later, the group was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The group continued to tour up until Becker’s death.

Fantasy Football Rankings: Top 10 Best Quarterbacks In 2017

$
0
0

Out of all of the positions that make up a complete fantasy roster, gauging where to take a quarterback in a draft is especially difficult. While it typically goes without saying that you should hold off on drafting a quarterback until after the first couple of rounds, there can be exceptions to this rule if you truly believe there is a consistently accurate gunslinger on the table. However, that exception does not apply to this years quarterback draft class as their is intriguing depth at the position, which includes some passers that are poised to bounce back from off seasons in 2016.

Wherever you decide to draft a quarterback, always ensure that you’re keeping an eye on the best player available so as to avoid reaching for a enticing signal caller too quickly. As is the case with drafting most positions in fantasy football, it is paramount that you see how the asset you draft fits into the make up of your team while being acutely aware of what a players defined role is in reality.

10. Phillip Rivers, Los Angeles Chargers

Instagram Photo

Despite having one of the most well-established statistical floors of any quarterback (thrown for at least 4,200 yards in seven out of eight seasons and has averaged 3o touchdowns per season since 2008), Rivers is rarely regarded as a top-10 quarterback in fantasy football. To be fair, Rivers has not posted a top-10 fantasy season since 2013, but a healthy Keenan Allen and the addition of rookie Mike Williams should allow Rivers to rely on a deeper receiving corps than he did last season (4.7% drop rate, 10th highest in the NFL). While some will view Rivers’ 21 interceptions (career high) as a red flag, I am inclined to believe that Rivers bounces back and effectively uses the weapons around him to become a top fantasy quarterback again.

9. Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts

Instagram Photo

When healthy, Andrew Luck has tremendous upside as a fantasy quarterback as he has finished in the top-four at the position in three of the last four seasons. While Luck has missed 10 games over the last two seasons, the time off has not inhibited his development as he posted career highs in completion percentage (63.5%) and average yards per passing attempt (7.78) in 2016. The main reason that Luck will have a difficult time breaching the top five this season is the improvement of AFC South defenses (the Texans have one of the best while the Jaguars and Titans are steadily improving in this department) along with having a weak supporting cast (Colts became slightly weaker in this regard with the departure of Phillip Dorsett). Still, provided Luck can stay relatively healthy this season, he is easily a top-10 quarterback and will continue to post big numbers during most weeks in fantasy.

8. Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

Instagram Photo

Defying nearly all of odds and overcoming the immense pressure that comes with being a starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, Dak Prescott displayed veteran composure to post one of the best rookie seasons in recent memory. While Prescott did not produce the volume that fantasy owners would have liked, he did manage to post an impressive stat line of 23 touchdowns to just four interceptions and ran for a position-high six touchdowns. All of this equated to Prescott finishing as the sixth best fantasy quarterback, which is likely his ceiling. Nevertheless, Prescott’s success last season was predicated on being disciplined in the pocket while spreading the ball around to his teammates to keep opposing defenses guessing. As a result, Prescott will regress slightly but will still manage to post a top-10 fantasy season when all is said and done.

7. Jameis Winston, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Instagram Photo

Many pundits are predicting Jamies Winston to have a breakout season fantasy wise and I am completely on board with that notion. Yes, Winston’s careless turnovers are concerning (33 interceptions in two seasons), but the fact that he loves to sling the ball downfield (10.3 average depth of throw) has him poised to be a big time fantasy scorer throughout the season. The addition of DeSean Jackson and the continued elite presence of Mike Evans caters perfectly for what Winston likes to do as a passer. On top of that, the addition of O.J. Howard will be tremendously helpful to Winston as both a beefy pass-catcher and as reliable blocker on the offensive line. While Winston is a borderline high-risk fantasy quarterback, the receiving weapons he has at his disposable should allow him to take a considerable step forward as a fantasy asset.

6. Russell Wilson, Seattle Seahawks

Instagram Photo

Posting one of the his worst fantasy seasons in 2016 due to injury, Wilson should be primed for a bounce-back year if he is completely healthy. Given the fact that the Seahawks were much more reliant on the passing attack last season (Wilson threw for 4,129 passing yards, 10th most in NFL) should encourage fantasy owners in giving Wilson the benefit of the doubt. The addition of Eddie Lacy will help the Seahawks establish a fairly reliable rushing game, which will give Wilson more confidence as the success of the offense will not be entirely predicated on his passing capabilities.

5. Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins

Instagram Photo

Considering the noticeable and consistent improvement that Kirk Cousins has displayed as a fantasy quarterback (eighth in fantasy points in 2015, fifth in 2016), it’s hard to imagine him finishing outside of the top-five in 2017. Cousins is a high-volume passer (606 passing attempts) who is confident when it comes to passing the ball downfield (8.1 yards per passing attempt, third amongst quarterbacks). When you combine Cousins’ coveted abilities as a passer with his underrated capabilities as a runner (nine rushing touchdowns over the past two seasons), it’s easy to see why he should be considered a top fantasy quarterback.

4. Matt Ryan, Atlanta Falcons

Instagram Photo

The Atlanta Falcons and Matt Ryan were one of the best offenses in the league thanks to the gifted mind of former offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan. While Shanahan’s departure to San Francisco will inevitably result in some regression offensively for the Falcons, Matt Ryan should not be expected to take much of step backward. Last season, Ryan averaged an insanely high 9.26 yards per pass attempt, which when coupled with having the leagues second-lowest drop rate(2.6%) allowed Ryan to post big numbers nearly every week. Ryan’s impressive completion percentage (has not competed less than 66% of his passes since 2012) and a healthy Julio Jones should be more than enough for the veteran passer to finish as a top-five fantasy quarterback.

3. Tom Brady, New England Patriots

Instagram Photo

Let’s get one thing straight: Tom Brady is great. Like supremely great. Despite missing the first four games of the season in 2016, Brady miraculously threw for 28 touchdowns (7th) and ranked fifth in completion percentage (67%). However, the most eye-popping number that fantasy owners will love is that Brady posted a top-10 fantasy week in 58% of his outing. The only thing that will hold Brady back from being the best quarterback in fantasy is his injury prone supporting cast (outside of Brandin Cooks, Brady does not have an elite weapon that does not come with injury concerns) and yes, his age (40). While Brady has shown no sign of slowing down, the fact remains that severe regression can come at anytime and we’ve seen it happen with Peyton Manning (MVP season in 2015, had one of his worst seasons in 2016). I’m not saying that this will happen to Brady, but considering father time is undefeated, it is certainly a realistic possibility.

2. Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints

Instagram Photo

While we all know that the Saints are one of the most pass-happy teams in the NFL, the fact that veteran quarterback Drew Brees has been at the helm of this legendary offense for years should tell all you need to know regarding his fantasy value. A top three fantasy quarterback in seven of the last 11 seasons (and no worse than sixth during that span), Brees’ high-volume combined with his top-notch accuracy (has not completed less than 68% of his passes since 2013) have made him a fantasy crown jewel for years. While the loss of Brandin Cooks stings slightly, Brees has made a living at spreading the ball around and will continue to do so en route to another top finish in fantasy.

1. Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Instagram Photo

After starting off the season with an unimpressive 4-6 record, Aaron Rodgers and the Packers caught fire and lit up opposing defenses with their dynamically fearless offense until they finally succumbed to a slightly better Falcons squad. The top-scoring fantasy quarterback last season, Rodgers finished top-five in pass attempts, completions, passing yards and touchdowns. Oh, and did I mention that Rodgers is superb out side of the pocket and can use his legs to score (369 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns)? The addition of Martellus Bennet, along with the three-headed receiving dragon of Jordy Nelson, Davante Adams and Randall Cobb should allow Rodgers to be the best quarterback in fantasy football for a second consecutive season.

If you want to know about the history of this day, you’ll need to go all the way back to 1882. This crazy thing called “labor unions” declared a one-day strike in New York City because workers believed that they were working way too many hours. Those on strike were told to march in a parade and then converge at a nice picnic full of food, beverages, and dull speeches about the working man and yada yada yada.

Governments and employers soon came around to the idea of less work for their employees. More free time meant that their workers now had a greater opportunity to go out and buy stuff. A culture of consumers is thought to have improved overall business. So, giving your guys a little time off doesn’t hurt. That includes you, Spankie McSpankerton!

How do you plan on celebrating this Labor Day? For me, it’s work. For you, it’s…memes!

WATCH: German Man Breaks Beer Stein Record By Carrying 29 Beer Steins Across Over 100 Feet

There’s people who can hold down a lot of beer without puking, but this guy can hold up 29 steins weighing more than 152 lbs of beer and glass. He walked across 40 meters, which is over 131 feet, as the crowd cheered him on in Germany. His name is Oliver Struempfel, a modern day alcohol-based legend. He broke the world record for beer stein carrying, crushing the previously-held record that he himself achieved back in 2014 with 25 jugs of brew.

Ollie began his trek, carrying 31 beer steins. He originally started with 27 steins, but said f*ck it and stacked up more than 30 steins. But he dropped one glass, and another glass slightly slipped out some of its contents. And according to the rules of Maßkrugtragen, if you spill more than 10 percent of what’s in your beer stein than it doesn’t count as a full stein.

“I first did 27, because I wanted to be sure and then at the end I said, ‘Let’s add another one and get over 30,’” Strumpfel told Reuters. “Unfortunately it didn’t quite work, but having managed to put 29 down…I think it’s amazing.”

Oh, and this cat spent more than 200 hours in the gym to prepare for this feat. That’s dedication, people!

Plain and simple, this guy is a beast at carrying beer steins. Here’s this dude training to beat his own world record…

Remember to drink and carry responsibly. Happy Labor Day, folks!
