When UCF kicker Donald De La Haye isn’t busy drilling field goals for the Golden Knight’s football team, he’s busy posting videos to his successful YouTube channel. De La Haye’s videos are pretty popular, as his channelDeestroying currently has over 54 thousand subscribers.

But unfortunately for De La Haye, the tyrannical NCAA noticed.

De La Haye has advertisements that run on his videos, which does not make the NCAA nor UCF happy. They claim he’s using his likeness as a student athlete to make money, so they gave him an ultimatum: De La Haye can either stop collecting dough from his YouTube channel or quit playing college football.

After a couple of weeks of back and forth deliberation, the ruling came down today that UCF had decided to rule De La Haye ineligible.

Knights coach Scott Frost said last week during the start of preseason camp De La Haye was a member of the team and the UCF Athletics Association worked to seek an NCAA waiver that would allow De La Haye to keep posting YouTube videos while competing for the Knights.

De La Haye and NCAA officials, however, could not reach an agreement that would keep him in the field. Once De La Haye declined the NCAA’s waiver terms, UCF suspended him to avoid repercussions for working with a a player the NCAA was likely to later rule ineligible.

“Every time I step into that compliance building, I hear nothing but bad news,” De La Haye said in a video posted Monday night on YouTube. “I’m ruled ineligible because I refuse to de-monetize my videos, something that I’ve worked so hard for. Something that I have put blood, sweat and tears into. Something that I eat, sleep, breathe about. … and I get deemed ineligible to continue playing college sports because of it.”

The University of Central Florida released an official statement on the NCAA’s ruling about De La Hay:

“The waiver, which was granted, stated De La Haye could maintain his eligibility and continue to monetize videos that did not reference his status as a student-athlete or depict his football skill or ability. The waiver also allowed him to create videos that referenced his status as a student-athlete or depict his football skill or ability if they were posted to a non-monetized account. De La Haye chose not to accept the conditions of the waiver and has therefore been ruled ineligible to compete in NCAA-sanctioned competition. UCF Athletics wishes him the best in his future endeavors.”

Chalk this one up as another victory of the evil empire of the NCAA. Their day will come soon enough.

Kim Marie Kessler started off as a huge fan of Randy Orton way before they met a live event in New York. Kessler and Orton quickly hit it off, and they eventually tied the knot on November 14, 2015. A little over a year later, Kessler gave birth to Brooklyn Rose Orton.

Imagine idolizing a celebrity of television and then, all of a sudden, you’re married to that person. This is the story of Kim Marie Kessler who was a diehard fine turned bride of “The Viper.” Surprisingly, Randy was the one who was nervous when they first met. Orton says that Kim brings out his “warm, cuddly side.”

“In my brain, way before I met him, he was my boyfriend,” Kessler said on the WWE Network’s Unfiltered with Renee Young. “So he was all over my house way before I met him.”

In July 2015, Randy decided to pop the question to Kim during a candlelit light dinner on their trip to Bora Bora. Kessler responded by laughing, so Orton didn’t know what to think until she said…”Yes!”

Four months later, this couple was officially wed in Las Vegas, Nevada. The entire family came along for this special moment in the lives of Orton and Kessler.

Dr. Samantha Ramsay, a professor at the University of Idaho, has been killed after being struck by lightning while she climbing the Swiss Alps.

Ramsay, a 41-year-old an assistant professor of nutrition at the University of Idaho, was climbing the Matterhorn portion of the Alps on Sunday, July 30, when she was hit and killed by a lightning strike.

This comes a year after her husband, former MLB pitcher Rob Ramsay, died from brain cancer. The Ramsay’s left behind two children, their sons Reidar, 9, and Ryan, 12.

Faculty and staff at the University of Idaho began mourning one of their own Monday when it was announced Samantha Ramsay, an assistant professor of nutrition at the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences, died Sunday after being struck by lightning while climbing the Matterhorn in the Swiss Alps.

Ramsay’s husband, former professional baseball player Rob Ramsay, who was a relief pitcher for the Seattle Mariners in 1999-2000 and played his collegiate career at Washington State University, died Aug. 4, 2016, after a yearslong battle with brain cancer.

University of Idaho President Chuck Staben released a statement on Ramsay, who had taught at the University since 2010:

It is with great sadness that we inform the Vandal community about the death of Samantha Ramsay, a faculty member in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences. Our thoughts and condolences are with her family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time.

Samantha received her doctorate from UI in 2010, and was an associate professor of nutrition in the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences. She died over the weekend in an accident in Switzerland. We join the entire Vandal family in mourning the loss of a talented professor, respected colleague and caring member of the UI community.

More information will be shared with the UI community as it becomes available.

According to the report from the Daily Mail, Ramsay, who taught at the Margaret Ritchie School of Family and Consumer Sciences, was with another unidentified experienced climber when they were caught off-guard by a thunderstorm.

After Ramsay was struck, both climbers were sent tumbling down the hill, eventually being stopped their safety harnesses.

The unnamed climber, who has badly injured himself, contacted emergency services in his home country. That emergency service then contacted mountain rescue services, who retrieved Ramsay and her friend.

Ramsay was pronounced dead upon arriving at the hospital. The unidentified second climber has been listed as being in critical condition.

Kevin Allred, a Montclair State University professor who had already caused controvery while teaching at Rutger University, has been fired after he tweeted about the assassination of President Donald Trump.

“Trump is a f*cking joke. This is all a sham. I wish someone would just shoot him outright,” the now deleted tweet read.

This comes after a November 2016 incident where Allred was admitted to Bellevue Psychiatric Hospital to undergo a psychiatric evaluation while employed at Rutgers University. Allred was admitted after he made threats on Twitter ‘to kill white people,’ burn the flag and abuse gun laws.

Despite this, Allred was hired as a professor of Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies at New Jersey’s Montclair State University. Allred gained further notoriety for his class “Politicizing Beyonce.”

Following his tweets, Allred was fired from his position at Montclair State.

Nina Scott, a 28-year-old Pennsylvania teacher at a school for troubled youth, has pled guilty to a having an affair with a female student.

Scott was arrested after she had an eight-month-long sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female student. Scott, who accepted a plea deal on Monday, July 31, had faced 70 charges, including four counts of institutional sexual assault of a minor and 34 counts of corruption of minors.

According to a criminal complaint, the 28-year-old Downingtown, Pennslyvania woman had said things to the student like she was buying a new headboard “for our bed.” She called her two-year-old daughter “our baby girl.” She referred to the student as her girlfriend. She mentioned “rolling over in bed and missing [the student] because she was not there.”

A former teacher has pleaded guilty in a sexual abuse case involving a former student at a school for troubled youth on the Main Line. Nina Scott, 28, of Downingtown, Chester County, was also sentenced Monday after pleading guilty to institutional sexual assault involving a 16-year-old student.

Police allege Scott sexually assaulted the girl multiple times between February and October 2016 while she taught at The Village School in Radnor Township. Police say Scott continued the relationship through letters after the girl left the school for another facility.

Authorities were alerted after staff found letters and a journal detailing the sexual acts. School officials fired Scott in December.

Scott will serve a minimum of three months on electronic home monitoring followed by five years of sex offender probation.

Former Notre Dame Football coach Ara Parseghian has passed away at the age of 94-years-old. According to the University’s president, Rev. John I. Jenkins, Parseghian died at 1:30 AM on Wednesday, August 2 at his home in Granger, Indiana.

Parseghian led the University of Notre Dame football team to national championships in 1966 and 1973. He is a member of the National Football Foundation’s College Football Hall of Fame.

Parseghian grew up in Akron, Ohio and played football starting in his junior year of high school. He enrolled at the University of Akron, but soon quit to join the U.S. Navy for two years during World War II. After the war, he finished his college career at Miami University in Ohio, and went on to play halfback for the Cleveland Browns of the All-America Football Conference in 1948 and 1949.

Elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1980, Parseghian led the Irish to a 95-17-4 record over his 11 seasons in South Bend, highlighted by the 1966 and 1973 teams that finished 9-0-1 and 11-0-0.

Notre Dame released an official statement on Parseghian’s passing:

“Notre Dame mourns the loss of a legendary football coach, a beloved member of the Notre Dame family and good man – Ara Parseghian,” Father Jenkins said. “Among his many accomplishments, we will remember him above all as a teacher, leader and mentor who brought out the very best in his players, on and off the field.

“He continued to demonstrate that leadership by raising millions of research dollars seeking a cure for the terrible disease that took the lives of three of his grandchildren. Whenever we asked for Ara’s help at Notre Dame, he was there.

“My prayers are with Katie, his family and many friends as we mourn his passing and celebrate a life that was so well lived.”

Olga Pronina, a Russian Instagram model who was known for performing bike stunts in sexy outfits, was killed in a horrific motorcycle accident.

Pronina, a 40-year-old social media model who went by ‘Monika9422’ online, apparently lost control of her motorcycle and crashed into a fence in the Russian city of Vladivostok on Monday, July 31.

Police said that Pronina, who was also a hairdresser, died from fatal injuries on impact as her bike split in half during the crash.

The woman was a popular social media star due to her stunts on her BMW S1000RR and raunchy outfits. In one video, she is seen riding sideways on her bike wearing just a short dress and showing off her legs.

She blows a kiss to the camera and later stands up on the bike, shaking her hips as she rides down the road. Friends who arrived on scene said that the woman was a skilled driver who would race at extremely high speeds.

One of her wheels had been through hundreds of meters in Monday’s crash, according to Sputnik News. While it’s currently unclear if she was filming when the crash occurred, her phone could not be found at the scene. It is believed that Pronina, who is divorced, has a 16-year-old daughter who was staying with her grandparents at the time of the crash.

A bomb threat being investigated at Pier 14 at Naval Station Norfolk in Norfolk, Virginia.

According to reports, officials at Naval Station Norfolk say they are investigating a reported bomb threat at Pier 14. At this time, Pier 14 is on lockdown.

The bomb threat was received via phone call around 6 AM on Wednesday, August 2. At this time, ships are not being allowed to dock at the pier until the threat is over.

No further information is available at this time.

According to base spokesperson Kelly Wirfel, military working dogs were deployed in response to the threat, to sweep various areas of the base.

Wirfel says one of the dogs alerted on a vehicle in the vicinity of Pier 14 around 7:45 a.m. This is at the very northern end of the base.

Wirfel says the pier is on lockdown, and is restricted for pedestrians and vehicle traffic. NCIS is on scene, along with base security.

Like most movie lovers, I dragged myself to the theater in the last couple of weeks to see Christopher Nolan’s latest epic, Dunkirk.

Telling the story of the crucial World War II Battle of Dunkirk, Dunkirk details the tremendous effort made by those across Europe to rescue allied soldiers from the soon-to-be enemy control beaches of Dunkirk.

Despite the Allies’ slim chance of success — with Britain even going as far as discussing a conditional surrender to Germany — the Allied forces were able to rescue over 330,000 soldiers.

However, despite Nolan’s frankly excellent and detailed portrayal of how terrifying and miserable those shores must have been, there is one glaring omission from the film, save for the closing words: Winston Churchill.

Naturally, after seeing the movie, I was curious about all things World War II, so I went home and did a little self-research. And during that research, I discovered that this year is coincidentally the year of Churchill in Hollywood.

Counting Dunkirk, three feature films about Churchill and his legacy at British Prime Minister come out in 2017, with one of them looking like it has a real shot at Oscar gold:

Coming from director Joe Wright (Pride & Prejudice, Atonement), Darkest Hour stars Gary Oldman as Winston Churchill and follows his early days as Prime Minister as Hitler closes in on Britain in World War II.

Just based on the trailer, Oldman is essentially a lock for a nomination for at least a couple of reasons. First, the Academy LOVES the portrayal of a legendary figure at the center of a true story (Leo, McConaughey, Redmayne, & Day Lewis have all won in recent years for portrayals of real people). Second, everybody loves Winston Churchill, and finally, Gary Oldman is considered one of the best actors in the world.

All of this — the director, the topic, the actor — lead me to believe that Darkest Hour is going to be one of the best reviewed and most heavily-nominated films of the year.

You can chalk one up for the degenerates because a 30-year study conducted by the University of California has concluded that moderate to heavy drinkers are more likely to live to the age of 85 without dementia than non-drinkers. So while the alcohol may make you forget things in the present, in the future you’ll be sharp as a tack.

The study, which ran from 1984 to 2013, tracked more than 1,000 middle-class white men and women in California. The study followed 1,344 adults, including 728 women and 616 men.

Cognitive health was assessed every four years over the course of the 29-year study, using a standard dementia screening test known as the Mini Mental State Examination.

The researchers found that people who drank ‘moderate to heavy’ amounts of alcohol five to seven days a week were doubly likely to be cognitively healthy than non-drinkers. The study defined moderate, heavy and excessive drinking using gender and age-specific guidelines from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

‘This study is unique because we considered men and women’s cognitive health at late age and found that alcohol consumption is not only associated with reduced mortality, but with greater chances of remaining cognitively healthy into older age,’ said lead author Dr Linda McEvoy.

The best line of the study goes to lead author and graduate student Erin Richard, who said that ‘this study shows that moderate drinking may be part of a healthy lifestyle to maintain cognitive fitness in aging.’

A school collapsed in Minneapolis after an explosion. Officials say ruptured gas line caused the explosion. According to reports, rescues are underway for victims, and three people have been rescued off the roof.

The explosion happened the Minnehaha’s Upper School on 3100 West River Parkway in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

According to a statement from school officials, the explosion may have been caused by a gas leak. Minneapolis fire officials say three people are still unaccounted for and they continue to search the rubble. At this time, it appears the explosion was due to a severed gas line.

Early reports indicate that there has been one death, although it has not been confirmed.

At this time, 3 people are unaccounted. In addition, 5 people were transported to hospital, 1 of which was treated and released.

The Minneapolis Fire Department initially reported one person was dead, however they tweeted 20 minutes later that the fatality could not be confirmed. Authorities say at this point, they cannot confirm any fatalities.

According to school officials, all students have been accounted for. There were people in the gymnasium at the time of the explosion, according to authorities.

Residents near the area say they could feel the explosion. Some say their power flickered briefly after the explosion.

In a statement, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton said the state was in touch with local authorities to assist in the response. The state of Minnesota intends to “provide any and all resources necessary to aid first responders.”

Sam Miller, a soon-to-be junior forward for the University of Dayton Flyers, is facing assault charges in Greene County, Ohio.

According to Greene County court records, Miller, a 6’9″ 240 pound forward who averages 4.5 points and 2.3 rebounds per game, was arrested in Beavercreek for Disorderly Conduct and drinking underage and was then subsequently taken to the Greene County Jail and placed in a holding cell.

Miller posted a $7,500 bond Monday and pleaded not guilty to an assault charge.

Another unidentified man was brought in and placed in the same cell. Miller and the other man began fighting. Deputies broke up the fight and Miller was taken to the emergency room to be evaluated. The report states Miller had “a lot of blood coming from his nose and a bump on his forehead.” The report also notes Miller can be seen on video approaching the second man and slapping him.

A police report from the Beavercreek Police Department said on Sunday officers were called to Caddy’s Tap House on the report of an assault. When officers arrived the saw security workers holding Miller down in the parking lot.

Officers approached and Miller continued to try to fight and yell obscenities. Miller was handcuffed and taken to a police car where he refused to get inside. The report says the officer has to place Miller on the seat and go around to the other side of the car and drag him inside. While in the back seat of the police car MIller continued to yell obscenities and kicked the door several times, according to the report.

The altercation began when a bartender told Miller he was cut off. Miller then became angry and knocked glasses off the bar before shoving the bartender. Security was then forced to escort Miller outside.

According to Miller’s attorney Dennis Lieberman, although Miller is due in court today, he will not be there, but sill instead file a written plea. Lieberman released no further comments on the matter.
