In a series of Wednesday morning tweets, President Donald Trump announced that the United States military has banned transgender people from serving ‘in any capacity.’

Trump’s reasoning was because the military must be ‘focused on decisive and overwhelming victory ‘, they cannot be ‘burdened with the tremendous cost and disruption’ of transgender peoples.

“After consultation with my Generals and military experts, please be advised that the United States Government will not accept or allow transgender individuals to serve in any capacity in the US military.

Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous cost and disruption that transgender in the military would entail. Thank you.”

Trump’s decision is a reversal of an Obama-era policy established in June 2016 by former Defense Secretary Ash Carter, who shifted Pentagon policy to allow transgender troops to serve openly.

Despite the fact that Michael Vick is a convicted felon who spent 21 months in federal prison due to his role in a dogfighting ring, Virginia Tech University has plans to induct the former NFL quarterback into their ring of honor.

Vick was one of, if not the, most electric player in the history of Virginia Tech Hokies football, as his play lead him to be the first overall pick in the 2001 NFL draft.

Now, 16 years after he was drafted into the NFL, the school that got him there wants to induct him into their ring of honor.

However, given his troubled past, this decision has been met with predictable backlash, as two separate petitions have formed in order to get the university to reverse the decision.

One petition, created by Virgina Tech alumni Jennifer Breeden, had about 70,000 signatures as of this writing.

‘By inducting Michael Vick, a nongraduate, into the Virginia Tech Sports Hall of Fame, the University has decided to honor a man for his athletic ability rather than honor a person for being a decent and honorable human being,’ Breeden’s petition read.

‘I would hope a top leading University, especially one who has an excellent Veterinary Program, would take a second look at themselves and evaluate what they want to be known for. Michael Vick should be anything but honored at Virginia Tech, and absolutely not inducted into the VT Sports Hall of Fame.’

A second petition, created by VA Tech alum Rachel Beasly, has about 30,000 signatures.

‘Michael Vick was an outstanding football player, but his character is far from outstanding. The disappointment I feel for my beloved university is crushing. Virginia Tech is a much respected, upstanding school that has persevered after horrible tragedies,’ wrote Beasley.

‘Please help me in expressing my disagreement with this decision and persuade President Sands and the Hall of Fame selection committee to repeal Michael Vick’s induction.’

Virginia Tech is standing by their decision at this time.

39-year-old Utah woman Kristy Manzanares has been identified as the woman who was killed aboard an Alaskan cruise ship after a domestic dispute.

According to a statement from Princess Cruises, Manzanares, a 39-year-old mother of three, died Tuesday night on the Emerald Princess,  a ship that was carrying 3,400 passengers and 1,100 crew members. The weeklong cruise of the Alaskan panhandle that began on Sunday, July 23, from Seattle, Washington.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and all those impacted by this tragic event,” Princess Cruises said in a statement.

After Manzanares was discovered, the ship docked in Juneau, Alaska, so that FBI investigators could board to conduct their investigation According to Manzanares’ social media accounts, she was a married mother of three daughters who was a real estate agent in St. George, Utah.

The suspect, who remains unnamed, was taken into custody and charged. The suspect is reportedly Manzanares’ husband.

Princess Cruises confirmed that the domestic dispute occurred at about 9 p.m. Tuesday and resulted in the woman’s death. Passengers were were allowed to disembark at around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday after authorities lifted and hours-long lockdown, passengers said told ABC News.

Passengers said the captain had previously instructed passengers in decks 8, 9 and 10 on the port side to return to their cabins so they could be interviewed by investigators about the incident. Other passengers were able to move about the ship, but not disembark.

One passenger had been detained by the crew, the cruise line said, adding that it has the authority to detain anyone who commits a crime.

Few other details about the case were released as investigators continue their work.

The United States attorney’s office will be holding a press conference with representatives of the FBI and Coast Guard today, Thursday, in Anchorage to announce the filing of federal charges in the case.

The Emerald Princess was on a seven-day round trip cruise that left from Seattle, Washington on Sunday, July 23. It was carrying about 3,400 passengers and 1,100 crew members and was scheduled to tour around the Tracy Arm fjord near Juneau.

The victim killed in the FireBall accident at the Ohio State Fair has been identified as 18-year-old Tyler Jarrett of Columbus.the FireBall ride at the Ohio State Fair malfunctioned during the opening day, killing one person and injuring several others. The person has been identified as Jarrett.

Jarrett, who was thrown about 50 feet into the air, was pronounced dead at the state fair grounds as a result of the impact. The FireBall ride is operated by a company called Amusements For America.

Justin Bieber struck a paparazzo with his truck while trying to drive away from an event in Beverly Hills Wednesday night, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department. Bieber stayed at the scene during the investigation, Lt. Scott Dowling told CNN. Video from the incident appeared to show Bieber offering assistance to the man who was hit.

Dowling said a 57-year-old man was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries. No citations were issued and no other vehicles were involved. The accident happened near the Saban Theatre, which was holding a City Church service.

Wednesday, July 26th, in the evening, an unfortunate event occurred at the Ohio State Fair. The ride, “Fire Ball,” broke down, injuring seven and fatally killing one male.

The victim killed in the accident has been identified as 18-year-old Tyler Jarrell, who recently graduated from Franklin Heights High School and enlisted in the Marines on July 22. Seven other victims, including two in critical condition, have also been identified. Jarrell’s girlfriend, Keziah Lewis, 19, is among the critical victims. Two other victims remain hospitalized.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, the man was “thrown from the ride” and killed on impact. One eyewitness told The Dispatch that “he heard a loud sound of metal cracking then looked to see two men being thrown off the ride, one of them from up high.” The cause of the ride malfunction has not yet been determined.

The incident took place around 7:19 p.m. local time, according to ABC Action News Tampa. All rides at the Fair have been shut down until they pass a new round of inspections, said Ohio Governor John Kasich at Wednesday night’s press conference.

The Fire Ball had been inspected several times, including by a third-party company, according to NBC Columbus. Ohio Department of Agriculture chief ride inspector Michael Vartorella said that the inspection process in lengthy, as the ride has several pieces to it.

The Fire Ball ride is described as an “aggressive thrill” ride on Amusements of America’s website. The ride “swings riders 40′ above the midway while spinning them at 13 revolutions per minute.” The ride holds 24 passengers in four-seat sections at the end of six spoke arms.

According to Ball State University’s official alert system, a suspicious package has been found behind a gas station near Ball State University. Ball State’s alert Twitter account said the package was found behind the Marathon at Tillotson & Bethel.

A spokesperson for the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the bomb squad was deployed around 2PM and remained on the scene investigating.

Tillotson has since been closed, causing traffic delays from McGalliard to Bethel. Bethel westbound to Tillotson from McKinley closed is also closed, as well as Bethel eastbound from Community Drive.

Civilians are advised to avoid the area.

The bomb squad was called in after a suspicious package was found at a gas station near Ball State University Thursday afternoon.

The incident was reported near Tillotson Avenue and Bethel Avenue, just off campus around 1:30 p.m.

The Delaware County Sheriff’s Department said that a suspicious package was found behind the Marathon gas station in the area.

Ball State University sent an alert out around 1:45 p.m. about “police action” in the area. No other information was given.

This persistent and tenacious board game requires tact and a constantly-changing perspective of your position as you take the role of an adventurer traveling in a dark, unknown territory in the world. It’s up to you to decipher clues, discover loot, gain experience, dig deep into caves and old kingdoms and explore a deep and expansive story.

This game is tense because it feels a lot like a “Choose Your Own Adventure” book, where every action influences your future actions. Decisions must be made in real-time and can benefit or harm you much further down the line.

Terraforming Mars

This creative tabletop simulator is a resource-management game that revolves around adapting your survival strategies to the changing environmental factors. The old planet has experienced a torrent of horrifying weather patterns, and it’s your job to fit your resources to that to keep your settlement alive. Players duke it out over the nine water tiles being placed and the oxygen and temperature tracks being placed. People earn points for collecting and using resources efficiently to meet the terraforming planets. What decisions you take to match the weather patterns also helps boost your points score. The player with the most points wins.

Lord of Hellas

Lord of Hellas is a beautiful tabletop simulator that’s fast-paced and all about territory control. The game pits 1-6 players in the Dark Age of Greece, where life is nebulous and confusing. Players choose a hero and compete with each other to achieve a few different win situations, including territory control, adventurous monster slaying and more.

Scythe

In Scythe, a fast-paced turn-based strategy board game that keeps its gameplay at a brisk pace using its freeflowing action-selection mechanism. Set in 1920’s Europa, the capitalistic city-state known as “The Factory,” becomes abandoned after the manufacturing of a huge infestation of heavy mechs. This drew widespread attention from global powers, who look to exploit that for personal gain. The objective of the game is to take control of a faction and become the most powerful and richest country in Europa.

Century: Spice Road

Century: Spice Road continues the Century series by playing the role of a standalone, game with mixable games within it. The game is set between the 15th and 17th centuries and depicts the major trade routes and networks during that bygone time. The strategic approach to this quick-to-understand game makes the skill ceiling very high to latch onto. The artwork and depth of gameplay lend for great player experiences and an engaging and involved atmosphere of economic competition.

A mega-sized mako shark found its way onto the front of a fishing boat. The crew is startled by the giant fish flopping on the bow. The creature would probably like to get back into the water, but its body is stuck beneath a guard rail.

Mako sharks are now for their acrobatic abilities, jumping out of the water, and performing tricks in the air. But this shark made its way onto the boat of Captain Don Law from Outlaw Fishing Charters.

“Woaahhhh. He jumped on the boat. Oh my gosh,” says the voice of a crew member as the video opens and the shark squirms and flops on the deck. The shark’s face is a little bloody after smacking its head repeatedly on the guardrail during the struggle.

The crew deliberates on their next move. They can’t just let old sharky die there. So, the team comes up with a plan in attempt to free this mako shark back into the wild where it belongs. Here’s the crew’s valiant attempt at saving this shark’s life…

How did the crew save the shark? One person hooked the head of the shark with the fishing line. Meanwhile, another angler sneaked up behind the mako and tied a rope behind its tail. The video then jumps to the team lowering the shark down into the water.

The shark swam free back into the deep blue sea.

Eleanor Wilson, a 28-year-old physics teacher, has been fired from his job after she allegedly had sex with a pupil in an airplane toilet on the way back from a school trip.

Wilson, 28, who was also head of Key Stage 4 at the school, was on a trip to the Large Hadron Collider in Geneva when she began flirting with the student in the back of the plane.

Giving evidence to a professional conduct panel, the sixth-former, known as Pupil A, said he had drunk about five miniature bottles of wine on the flight in the summer of 2015 and that Miss Wilson was also intoxicated.

Ms Wilson, 28, has been struck off on recommendation from the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL). Police confirmed with the Bristol Post on Thursday morning it had opened enquiries into the case.

Ms. Wilson became close to the boy, only named as Pupil A, during a school trip. During the return flight, both started flirting, with the pupil drinking five mini-bottles of wine. The panel heard Ms. Wilson was intoxicated when they both went into the toilet. They started kissing, had oral sex, and sexual intercourse without protection.

The following year, she met Pupil A one-on-one in her office and took him on outings. He claimed she had drunk cider with him outside the school, and he showed the panel the receipt for the drinks. In September that year, the head teacher had become aware of the allegations and Ms Wilson was interviewed about it.

“Tongues Untied,” is a safe space to speak about the impact of sexuality, race and gender, according to Campus Reform. The description for the event reads, “For our allies: we do appreciate your voices and commitment to dismantling racism and homophobia; however, please note that this is a space created for LGBTQIA and/or same-gender-loving people of color.”

I wonder what Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., would say about this group’s specific racial-enforcement policy. I’m sure the same could be applied for sexual orientation/gender. Let’s see what the King thinks about how to judging others…

The Tongues Untied Facebook page says, “If you identify as a queer and/or trans indigenous person or person of color, we welcome you to take part in our discussions.”

Earlier this year, a “White Privilege Checklist” was found on campus at the University of Minnesota. The statement reads, “I can go shopping alone most of the time, pretty well assured that I will not be followed or harassed,” and “Whether I use checks, credit cards, or cash, I can count on my skin color not to work against the appearance of financial responsibility.”

Is it also a privilege to carry “the mark of the oppressor” on your skin? Just wondering.
