Charlie Blackmon Net Worth 2017: How Much is Charlie Worth Now?

$
0
0

One of the most underrated centerfielders in baseball, Charlie Blackmon is having one of his best seasons to date this year on a team that could very well make the post season. A tenacious hitter that is highly vigilant in the outfield, Blackmon has been one of the more reliable two way players in the majors for years. Between his stoic composure and excellent statistical output, Blackmon is the ideal team player that will always chose improving his skill set over a spot in the limelight. Given what Blackmon has already accomplished in his career, the question remains of how much is the consummate professional baseball player actually worth?

Charlie Blackmon’s Net Worth as of 2017: $13 Million

How did the likable All-Star get there? And how have his contributions to the Colorado Rockies allowed him to garner this type of wealth? Let’s take a closer look.

2011-2014

Instagram Photo

Blackmon was initially drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 20th round of the 2005 MLB Draft. After bouncing around several minor affiliates of various professional baseball clubs, he ultimately was able to establish roots with the Colorado Rockies in 2011. Blackmon was called up by the Rockies two months into the 2011 season and was able to prove his adeptness as an outfielder in limited playing time.

While Blackmon spent most the 2012 season with the Rockies Triple-A Minor League affiliate (Colorado Spring Sky Socks), he was able to put up an impressive batting average (.283) despite inconsistent playing time in the majors.

2013 saw Blackmon get more playing time in the majors than he had last year, with Blackmon maintaining an impressive batting average (.309 in 82 games) while hitting for power consistently (slugging percentage of .467). For the first time in his career, Blackmon was finally noticed as having a superb work ethic, which was essential in him being a disciplined hitter at the plate.

After three years of being the Rockies utility outfielder, Blackmon finally earned a spot on the Rockies 25-man active roster as the everyday centerfielder. Blackmon took full advantage of the opportunity as he made his first All-Star game as a reserve player all the while knocking in 72 RBI’s with a batting average of .288 throughout the course of the regular season.

He reportedly earned $501,000 in 2014.

2015-Present

Despite playing on another woeful Colorado Rockies team overall, Blackmon’s consistency at the plate and in the field never wavered in 2015. Blackmon’s batting average held steady at .287 while his under appreciated power continued to be a distinguishing facet of his dynamic skill set (slugging percentage of .450).

With two full seasons as a starter under his belt, Blackmon came into 2016 season eager to take the next step in his development as a proficient hitter and fielder. By seasons end, Blackmon had set career highs in home runs (29), RBI’s (82), batting average (.324), on base percentage (.381) and slugging percentage (.552). Blackmon also obtained his first individual award when he won the Sliver Slugger Award due to his all around consistency at the plate.

Thus far in the 2017 season, Blackmon is on pace to set new career highs on offense. He already has 24 home runs and 69 RBI’s on the season and is finally apart of a winning franchise that could be a sleeper competitor in the postseason this October.

While Blackmon may never be the flashiest or most exuberant player in baseball, his insatiable desire to improve every year should garner him more recognition. After several years in the minor leagues and starting on several abysmal Rockies teams, Blackmon may finally get a chance to show what he is made of if the Rockies can win enough games down the stretch to earn an NL Wild Card spot. Regardless of what the Rockies do the rest of the season, Blackmon’s contributions to the game of baseball should not be taken for granted as he continues to be one of the most consistent players in the majors.

He reportedly earned $7.3 million in 2017.

Who Get’s to Use OSU?: Ohio State & Oklahoma State Fight Over Trademark

NCAA programs will claim that they are all about helping athletes get a degree building better members of society who will have a life after sports. While this may be true, NCAA programs are also very focused on making money and selling their school. Teams will sell tickets and merchandise as well as their brand as part of the business. Now, two schools with a similar brand are in a dispute over who can use the letters “OSU.”

Ohio State and Oklahoma State are locked in a legal battle over those three letters, despite a previous usage agreement. The two school have shared a patent on the letters for years, but now Ohio State is filing a new request. They want to be able to put “OSU” on apparel and merchandise. Oklahoma State has filed an objection to Ohio State’s request, and they have until the end of August to complete the objection.

While there had been a split patent agreement in the past, Ohio State is looking to take control of the letters to make even more money. Oklahoma State (and likely Oregon State) will not be too pleased about this and should look to settle the issue in court. Who knew a few letters could be such a big deal.

Kristin Beck, The First Openly Transgender Navy SEAL, Speaks Out Against New Ban

CNN

Kristin Beck, born June 21, 1966, is a retired United States Navy SEAL who gained public attention in 2013 when she came out as a trans woman, the first openly transgender former U.S. Navy SEAL.

Beck, who served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy SEALs before her transition, took part in 13 total deployments, including seven combat deployments.

Furthermore, Beck was a member of the United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group, a special counter-terrorism unit popularly called SEAL Team Six, and received multiple military awards and decorations, including a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.

Now that President Trump have banned transgender people from serving in the military in ‘any capacity’, Beck took it upon herself to speak out.

via Business Insider:

“Let’s meet face to face and you tell me I’m not worthy,” Kristin Beck, a 20-year veteran of the Navy SEALs, told Business Insider on Wednesday. “Transgender doesn’t matter. Do your service.”

Beck said Trump’s abrupt change in policy could negatively affect many currently or wanting to serve in the military. The RAND Corporation estimated in 2016 that there were between 1,320 and 6,630 transgender people serving. Many of them just want to serve their country like everyone else, Beck said.

“Being transgender doesn’t affect anyone else,” Beck said. “We are liberty’s light. If you can’t defend that for everyone that’s an American citizen, that’s not right.”

The ban comes despite the fact that a 2016 study commissioned by the Defense Department concluded that letting transgender people serve openly would have a “minimal impact” on readiness and health care costs, largely because there are so few in the military’s 1.3 million-member force. About 2,450 of the estimated 1.3 active military members are transgender, making up about just 0.1-0.5 percent.

The thief decided to snoop around an apartment complex in Jinjiang, China’s Fujian province on July 12th. He climbed a flight of stairs, and quickly noticed the building’s security camera. Looking for a more convenient beer bong experience? Want to chug that brew with comfort? These two dudes decided to make party/customer satisfaction a top priority when inventing The Kong, the world’s first koozie beer bong.

It’s a portable beer bong that you can take just about anywhere. You’ll have a nice koozie to keep your hands warm while drinking cold beer. Plus, you have an 11-inch tube hooked up to this contraption, which you’ll use to unravel to ingest your drink.

The Kong is blowing the f*ck up on Kickstarter. Alright, it may not exactly be blowing the f**k up like the scared sh*tless dad from that Twitch video, but they’re getting plenty of people investing in their product. Plus, it’s only $20 and it’ll arrive to your address by September. The wait is worth it for all the tailgating stories this beer bong can potentially bring. You’ll have a professional portable beer bong on demand. That’s pretty f*cking sweet. Here’s what the creators have to say about their baby:

“Our experience and research in the party and tailgate scene told us that there are three features which will solve the biggest problems currently holding the beer bong to its original untouched roots. The features we wanted to bring were portability, making the beer bong personal, and taking it from novelty to a long lasting, beer drinking connoisseurs tool.”

The Kong sounds hard to pass up. I wonder if these bros can figure a more convenient way to toke as well. Gotta corner that market too, dudes! But that’s the future. Here is the present of party animal paraphernalia:

Can you drink to that?

I turned around, and I know I punched it in the eye,” he said. “I tried to get it away, and it tried to pull me in.”

Mark Redwine: Full Story & Must-See Details On Murder Suspect

A Colorado father is alleged to have killed his 12-year-old son after the boy had discovered disturbing photos of his dad in diapers and eating sh*t. Mark Redwine was arrested on Saturday and indicted for second degree murder and child abuse. Investigators have been mulling over this case for four and a half years. A video was released on Wednesday, showing Redwine’s arrest.

Dylan Redwine originally went missing in November 2012. He visited his father per a court order agreement. His parents had divorced, and Dylan was not getting along with his father as a result of the turmoil, according to the indictment. The boy’s remains were found seven months later scattered in the mountains by wild animals. In November 2015, Dylan’s skull was discovered 1.5 miles away from his father’s home.

Prosecutors believe that Mark Redwine may have killed his son when the 12-year-old discovered unsettling pictures of his father wearing a diaper and eating feces out of the diaper. The prosecution suggests that Mark may have murdered his boy after he was confronted with the ‘disturbing’ photos.

Wine even went as far as to appear on Dr. Phil alongside his ex-wife. Both blamed each other for the death of Dylan.

Cory Redwine, Dylan’s older brother, saw the strange of pictures of his father has has so far been connected to the case. “I have seen the photos. It shows him wearing women’s clothes and makeup and a diaper and then eating his feces from the diaper,” said Cory. “It was disgusting. We couldn’t believe it.”

Dylan’s mother, Elaine Hall, also believes the diaper-feces-photos motive in the death and murder of her son Dylan. “He may have said something that just didn’t set well with Mark and Mark reacted in a very violent way…obviously,” said Hall in February 2015 podcast. “Dylan is no longer here.”

Mark claims that he had returned home from errands and found that his son was missing. In June 2013, partial remains of Dylan was found on Middle Mountain. In November 2015, investigators found Dylan’s skull and were able to determine the cause of his death. The skull had two small marking, possibly from a knife, and appeared to show injuries consistent with blunt force trauma.

Hall believes that her ex-husband was the culprit since day one that Dylan went missing, according to an interview with The Pine River Times. According to the incitement, Hall told authorities that Redwine would “kill the kids before he let her have them.”

In 2014, cadaver dogs sniffed out the scent of a dead body in the bed of Redwine’s pick-up truck. The dog also discovered the scent of a dead body in various locations of Redwine’s house, as well as on the suspect’s clothing the night of Dylan’s disappearance.

Mark Redwine was arrested on Saturday, July 22, 2017. On Wednesday, body cam footage was released showing his arrest. The suspect has been apprehended in Bellingham, Washington, and is being held on a $1 million bond. Redwine faces extradition to Colorado.

Anthony Scaramucci Net Worth 2017: How Much Is Anthony Scaramucci Worth Now?

Anthony Scaramucci is an American financier, author, and entrepreneur. Scaramucci began his career at Goldman Sachs, holding positions in its Investment Banking, Equities, and Private Wealth Management divisions. He later left his position, which he held from 1989 through 1996 to launch Oscar Capital Management with a colleague. In 2005, Scaramucci founded global investment firm SkyBridge Capital, serving as a co-managing partner before selling the company in early 2017 to take a role in the Trump administration.

Anthony Scaramucci’s Net Worth 2017: $1.5 Billion

The Long Island native’s net worth is a whopping $1.5 billion. Who wouldn’t want that much money? In fact, he became this rich and powerful because of the risk as well as the hard work he put in throughout his finance-related career.

Let’s check out how this investment banker, an alumnus of Tufts University and Harvard Law School, and current politician became such a huge figure in terms of the amount of wealth he has starting from the beginning of his career to now.

1989-2003

Scaramucci, after graduating with a JD from Harvard Law School, began his banking career at Goldman Sachs. After being hired, fired, and rehired in a single year, Scaramucci left Goldman in 1996 to launch Oscar Capital Management with his colleague Andrew Boszhardt. In 2001, Oscar Capital was sold to Neuberger Berman and, upon Neuberger Berman’s sale to Lehman Brothers in 2003, Scaramucci served as a managing director in the firm’s Investment Management division.

2004-2015

If you think he’s successful enough with all these endeavors, he decided to continue his path to success by founding SkyBridge Capital, a global alternative investment firm. In May 2014, SkyBridge licensed the rights to Wall Street Week, a financial television news program formerly hosted by Louis Rukeyser on PBS, installing Scaramucci as host. Throughout this period in his vocation, he earned the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award (NY) in the financial services category.

2016-Present

During this area in time, Scaramucci transitioned from the financial world to the political stage. In 2016, he was ranked #85 in Worth magazine’s “Power 100: The 100 Most Powerful People in Global Finance.” During the 2016 presidential election, Scaramucci first endorsed Scott Walker, then Jeb Bush. However, both candidates withdrew from the presidential race. This led to his changed allegiance to Donald Trump’s campaign; he joined Trump’s Finance Committee. Later on July 21, 2017, the Trump Administration named him as White House Director of Communications.

Best ‘Rick And Morty’ Episodes: Ranking The Top 10 Best Episodes Ever

$

Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland have indisputably created one of the most popular shows currently with Rick and Morty. The show is an amalgamation of existential nihilism, comedic takes on the endless possibilities of certain scientific theories, the observational cynicism of contemporary culture and society as we know it, and of course, Mr. Poopy Butthole.

It has been announced that Harmon and Roiland are bringing Rick and Morty back on July 30, 2017 at 11:30 EST on Adult Swim, and with everyone anticipating it’s arrival I guarantee its going to be a humongous hit, one that you don’t want to miss out on.

As we look forward to the new release, we rank the top ten episodes of Rick and Morty in remembrance of how great of a series we have been given so far.

1. Rixty Minutes (Season 1, Episode 8)

Having had enough with watching The Bachelorette (or whatever spin-off), Rick jacks up the family’s cable box so that they can watch inter-dimensional television from every conceivable reality, giving them infinite TV channels broadcasting some peculiar sh*t, but it’s all still better than the bachelorette. However, by changing channel they quickly discover that, in the realities where Jerry didn’t marry Beth, he became a huge movie star/writer/director.

While Rick and Morty just want to watch TV from other dimensions, Jerry, Beth, and Summer get obsessed with discovering the endless possibilities and “what-ifs” of their alternate lives. Rick gives them goggles that let them see into parallel timelines to keep them occupied, while he and Morty spend the rest of the episode watching television. Conflicts arise from there on, broh.

2. Look Who’s Purging Now (Season 2, Episode 9)

Rick and Morty arrive on an alien planet with dog-people like characters. They primarily arrived to fix their ship, but upon finding out that the planet holds an annual purge festival, Rick wants to check it out regardless of Morty’s opposition.

Jerry and Summer work on their father-daughter relationship, but his lack of employment keeps coming up. Jerry be like, “what about that disposable income tho, fam”,  Summer be like “don’t worry ’bout it”.

Morty ends up getting hit in the feels, falling for one of the natives of the alien planet. After a crap situation, Rick and Morty are forced to participate in the purge.

3. Interdimensional Cable 2, Tempting Fate (Season 2, Episode 8)

This episode is a continuation of the same interdimensional television premise of “Rixty Minutes”, which means even more ridiculous TV programming that sounds.. oddly improvised.

Jerry is faced with the difficult decision of losing his manhood in order to save an alien leader from imminent death. Meanwhile, Rick, Morty and Summer explore the possibilities of interdimensional television.

4. Lawnmower Dog (Season 1, Episode 2)

This episode is hilarious, after Rick creates a device that gives dogs the ability to communicate with humans, there is a shift in power as Snowball wants to know where his testicles are. Jerry learns a valuable lesson, but still can’t make good references (especially about Old Yeller). They also incept Goldenfold.

5. Total Rickall (Season 2, Episode 4)

Rick discovers that there are parasites that have crossed over into the Smith home. These parasites have the capability of taking over the world by multiplying through inducing falsely fabricated flashbacks, so they need to be stopped by any means necessary.

6. Auto Erotic Assimilation (Season 2, Episode 3)

Rick, Morty and Summer go to a seemingly abandoned alien spaceship to loot the place. When they find survivors, the survivors tell them that an entity took over their planet by “assimilation”. Turns out the entity is an old girlfriend of Ricks. They decide to catch up but them catching up affects the entire planet. Jerry and Beth investigate a gargling noise coming from under the garage. What they find brings their problems in themselves and each other out.

7. Meeseeks & Destroy (Season 1, Episode 5)

Rick provides the family with Meeseeks, which are selfless beings that pose as a solution to their problems. By introducing the Meeseeks, Rick is freed up to go on an adventure led by Morty.

8. Get Schwifty (Season 2, Episode 5)

Rick and Morty must aid Earth after a giant head wants our planet to show him what we gottttt! This disrupts the planet, demanding to see a hit song performed and the Smith family finds themselves caught up in a new religion that is manifested due to circumstance.

9. Morty Night Run (Season 2, Episode 2)

Rick and Morty try to save a gas life form while Jerry resides in a daycare made for Jerrys.

This episode also includes one of the coolest theoretical arcade games that would be a trip to play.

10. Something Ricked This Way Comes (Season 1, Episode 9)

Summer gets a job at a pawn shop owned by the devil. Jerry helps Morty with his science fair project.

This episode is a play on the title of Ray Bradbury’s novel “Something Wicked This Way Comes”, which was later adapted into two different films, one in 1972 and one in 1983.

A Minnesota high school music teacher has landed herself in hot water over allegations that she had repeated sex with a 17-year-old male student. Christine Lee Funk, 31, of New Hope, was apprehended by authorities on Wednesday and charged with three counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.

Funk was also arrested back in February for suspicion of possessing pornographic material involving minors at her workplace. She was put on administrative leave resulting from her initial arrest over the child porn charge. The 31-year-old educator later resigned from her job at Henry Sibley High School in March, according to Twin Cities Pioneer Press.

Christine Lee Funk is married and has two children. Yet, she allegedly cheated on her husband with a 17-year-old boy.

Allegations first came to light after a school resource officer learned about obscene messages between Funk and the student. Police discovered semi-nude selfies and texts that suggest a sexual relationship between herself and the boy. At first, while interviewed by investigators, she denied having an affair with the student. She claimed that sexually-explicit messages were merely a ‘fantasy’ and nothing more, according to a report from Minneapolis Star Tribune.

However, Funk did admit to sending the boy sexually explicit photographs of herself.

Police also interviewed the alleged victim of the crime. He also denied an affair with Funk. But when authorities rummaged through his phone and found more lewd texts from the teacher, the boy cracked and admitted what happened.

The 17-year-old student says he had sex with Funk on three occasions in February. They allegedly had sex in the boy’s car, in the teacher’s house, and at the high school where Funk was formerly employed.

On Wednesday, a judge decided to set Funk’s bail at $75,000. If convicted, she may face up to 45 years behind bars.

The Internet Is Pissed Off At Michael Phelps For His Simulated ‘Shark Race,’ And Phelps Doesn’t Give Two Sh*ts

After the Phelps vs. Shark race flopped on The Discovery Channel, upset fans took to Twitter to communicate their displeasure. They believed Phelps would race an actual shark, and were let down when they found out the truth. It’s as if the much-anticipated McGregor vs. Mayweather fight turned out to be a hologram battle.

The Phelps vs. Shark showdown was promoted as epic encounter between two natural beasts of the water. But as it turns out, Phelps didn’t race a real shark. The whole stunt was a computer simulation.

Michael Phelps lost the computerized race between a great white shark. But he also may have lost some fans as well. Or in the very least, annoyed the crap out of them, for whatever reason. C’mon. The special effects were pretty cool. But then again, some people don’t like being hoodwinked…

Some were straight salty about being tricked…

Michael Phelps responded to haters in a Facebook Live session. Apparently, it’s their fault for being upset. If they want to find out, they should try and race a shark themselves. It probably wouldn’t turn out for the best though…

“Everybody wants to try to pick on something or say something or complain about something. I had fun racing a shark and seeing those animals up-close and personal. If someone actually wants to get in the ocean and race a side-by-side with a great white, go ahead — you aren’t going to get the shark to swim in a straight line — and it would be interesting to see. We’ll leave it at that.”

Phelps isn’t done yet. The Olympic swimmer continued to lay into haters. Sorry if you feel that way…

“You can believe whatever you want. Everything was either presented on-air during multiple interviews that I did throughout Shark Week or the beginning of the show. Sorry you feel that way. For me, this is something I’ve always wanted to do and I was honored to be able to do it. I’m sorry that you feel that way, I feel very different.”

Is Phelps done yet? Nope…

“Some people just decide not to listen to some of the things that we do and that’s not my fault that you don’t do that. It’s pretty easy to open up your ears and listen to either what the TV is saying, what announcers are saying or what I’m saying in interviews.”

You tell ’em, champ! There’s a reason why he’s won 23 Olympic gold medals. The guy doesn’t take sh*t from anybody, whether it’s a cybernetic shark or a pack of haters on the world wide web…

USA vs Jamaica Live Stream: Watch Gold Cup Final Online

The United States Men’s soccer team has reached the finals of the Gold Cup after coming in fourth place in 2015. Prior to the beginning of the tournament, the United States made headlines while it, along with Mexico, announced publicly that each country would not be sending its main roster to the event. The most notable absentee from the roster was midfielder Christian Pulisic who is, in most people’s opinions, the best player on the U.S. national team. However, this United States team still had enough firepower without him to make it to the tournament final.

The United States struggled earlier on in the group stage of the Gold Cup as it tied Panama 1-1 and then barely beat Martinique 3-2 before returning to its dominant self. The struggles were largely due to the inexperience of the players on the roster and the defense’s inability to keep opponents in front of them. However, after the group stage, the United States recalled forwards Clint Dempsey and Jozy Altidore to the active roster and the U.S. was able to defeat Costa Rica in the semifinals as both players scored second half goals to propel the team to a 2-0 win. The United States has not surrendered any goals in its last three games and it looks like this team is clicking on all cylinders headed into the final.

The United States’ opponent will be Jamaica after the country shockingly upset Mexico 1-0 in the semifinals. The game was a defensive struggle until Kemar Lawrence unleashed a wonder strike via free kick in the 88th minute. Despite making the Gold Cup final back in 2015, Jamaica was not expected to make it far in this year’s tournament but now looks to complete this Cinderella story on Wednesday night.

Jamaica’s path to the final was relatively uneventful prior to the semifinal upset. After beating Curacao in the opening match and tying against Mexico and El Salvador in the group stage, Jamaica managed to defeat Canada in the quarterfinals 2-1.

If Jamaica wants to pull off this upset, it is going to have to rely on its speed along the wings to blow past the American defenders to create some odd man advantages. If Jamaica can successfully execute some crosses and some corner kick opportunities, it can potentially be enough to thwart the United States.

As for my prediction in this contest, I have to side with the United States. Based on pure talent, the United States should be able to decimate Jamaica and wear down its defense to generate several goals. Had Dempsey and Altidore not returned, I might have sided with Jamaica. However, with that elite attack, I think that the United States will score a few goals and win by a score of 2-0.

WATCH: Florida Police Officer Wrangles An Alligator Like A True Bad-Ass, And Probably Ends Up Saving The Gator’s Life

This Boynton Beach police officer isn’t afraid to tangle with a live gator. He’s now being labeled a hero after wrestling a big-ass reptile into submission. If the officer didn’t get that gator under control, there was a good chance it’d be euthanized by wild life officials. The officer was even able to relocate the defeated gator to a nearby canal.

Good thing this officer isn’t a wimp when it comes to gators. If the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission arrived on the scene, that gator may have met its maker. A hostile gator disturbing a residential area might be used as grounds for execution, if there’s no other option available.

The officer subdued the alligator with his lasso and then tossed his jacket over the reptile’s head. The policeman was able to pick up the disorientated gator and carried the creature to his vehicle. The officer later released the gator to the waters of a nearby canal.

Officer Alfredo Vargas is revealed to be the policeman who wrangled the gator. He was congratulated by the Boynton Beach Police Department’s Facebook page:

“The Gator Boys Alligator Rescue will be proud of this one…A few weeks ago, Officer Alfredo Vargas responded to a call from a resident of Hunter’s Run who found an alligator laying by his front door. Watch Officer Vargas’ body camera video to see how he was able to safely secure the alligator. He learned how to handle/wrestle alligators at the Native Village in Hollywood, Florida. There, he was mentored by Michael “Skeet” Johns and Jimmy Riffle, who remains one of his best friends.
Officer Vargas called the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and learned that it would be about 30 minutes before a trapper could arrive, and it was likely that the trapper would kill the alligator. Officer Vargas said he didn’t want that to happen given his background with learning how to capture nuisance gators and return them to their natural habitat, which is what the Gator Boys Alligator Rescue does. FWC advised that he could release the reptile elsewhere, so he put the alligator in the back seat of his patrol car and took him out to a canal by Congress Avenue and Miner Road. Officer Vargas removed the tape from around its mouth and put him back in the water. Officer Vargas doesn’t know it yet, but we’ve just made him the department’s official alligator wrestler (kidding but not really).”

The video has went viral. And Officer Alfred Vargas will now be known as that bad-ass, gator-wrestling cop.

Now, that gator can swim off to a life of fish and freedom.
