On Friday, 72-year-old John Heard passed away at a hotel in Palo Alto, California. The beloved actor was best known for his portrayal of Peter McCallister in Home Alone and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, and we have the latest report on this awful news.

Cause of Death

Via TMZ, here are the sad details on Heard’s passing.

Heard was found dead in a hotel by the maid service … according to family sources. Police were called to the hotel for a report of a medical emergency, but he was pronounced dead on the scene. The coroner is investigating, and cause of death is unclear at this time.

We do know this … according to his rep, John had “minor back surgery” Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center, and he was staying at the hotel while he recovered.

Career

Heard began his career as a stage actor, and he made his on-screen debut in 1975, playing Mr. Harvie in the TV movie Valley Forge. Heard would appear in a ton of different projects over the years, taking on both leading and supporting roles in TV and film.

Some of Heard’s most notable parts over his illustrious career were Alex Cutter in Cutter’s Way (1981), Oliver Yates in Cat People (1982), George Cooper in C.H.U.D. (1984), Tom Schorr in After Hours (1985), Paul Davenport in Big (1988), John Pierce in Beaches (1988), Dr. Kaufman in Awakenings (1991), Gavin Vereek in The Pelican Brief (1993), and Gilbert Powell in Snake Eyes (1998).

In 1999, Heard was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series for his work as Detective Vin Makazian on The Sopranos.

But despite all of these roles, Heard will always be “the dad from Home Alone” to a lot of people. Heard played Kevin McCallister’s (Macaulay Culkin) father, Peter McCallister, in both Home Alone (1990) and Home Along 2: Lost in New York (1992).

On Saturday, Jim Vance passed away at the age of 75. The insanely popular news anchor was a Washington, D.C. staple for over 45 years, and we have the latest report on this sad news.

Cause of Death

Vance died after a battle with cancer. In May of 2017, he announced that he was fighting cancer, but that he would continue to work while undergoing treatment.

Career

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education from Cheyney University, Vance taught English for three years at a junior high school. He would then make the leap into television, which obviously turned out to be a fantastic decision.

Starting in 1969, Vance was a news anchor for NBC4 in Washington, D.C. He worked their 11:00 p.m. edition for more than 40 years, drawing huge numbers of viewers for the station.

Vance received numerous accolades for his broadcasting work, including a whopping 17 Emmy Awards, inductions in the National Association of Black Journalists Hall of Fame and the Journalists Hall of Fame, and a “Washingtonian of the Year” honor in 1976 from the Washingtonian magazine.

R.I.P. to a legendary news anchor, who will be deeply missed across the DMV.

Branden Grace played out of his mind today at the Open Championship, shooting a record-setting 62. Grace went 8-under par at Royal Birkdale, making eight birdies and no bogeys during an unreal third round.

Before today, 31 golfers had shot a 63 at a major championship, but no one had ever posted a 62. That all changed this morning, as the 29-year-old from South Africa was absolutely locked in.

Here’s ESPN with more details on Grace’s historic round.

“It was a special day, to be quite honest,” Grace said. “I had no idea that was the lowest. I was so in the zone and playing the round so well. I was just trying to play the round without a bogey and make another birdie at the last. Sometimes it helps not knowing these things.

“When you get on a run like that, you stop thinking about golf. It’s one of the best ball-striking rounds of my career.”

Grace hit 16 of 18 greens, getting up and down from over the 18th to set the record in the 442nd major championship to be played.

I’d do unforgivable things to have a round like that. I feel like a shot a goddamn 62 at a mini golf course just last week.

The runaway cow was spotted by Trudi Maitland, 42, outside the Studio Cinema in Coleford, while on her way to work yesterday morning.

The mother-of-three, who snapped a photo of the hilarious encounter, said: ‘It was just pure amazement. I was thinking to myself, I wonder which one he fancies watching.’

After moving down the High Street, the cow wandered into the car park at the Forest of Dean District Council headquarters, where police kept watch and sent for the farmer.

Unfortunately for our bovine friend, the cow was captured with the help of police before it could head into the theater. What an udder shame.

It’s all about the #DriveByDunkChallenge this summer, and for once, this is a viral trend that I can get behind. Throwing down a monstrous slam on a perfect stranger’s basketball hoop is a timeless tradition, and I couldn’t be happier that kids today agree.

Because John Calipari is a recruiting master who knows how to relate to young bucks, he posted a video to his Twitter account last night of him participating in the challenge. Watch the 58-year-old University of Kentucky coach soar through the air to throw one down.

SEND IT IN, JEROME! That was a very solid effort from Calipari, so I’ll give him a 6.3 out of 10 for his challenge performance. That’s also coincidentally the exact length of seconds that his arch rival Rick Pitino lasts during sexual encounters.

Calipari gains points for rolling up with that Kygo and Selena Gomez banger “It Ain’t Me” blaring and for dunking with two hands. But because I’m 99% sure that was his own house, I’ve got to subtract heavily. The last time I checked, giant ass homes with Kentucky basketball hoops lowered to seven feet don’t exactly grow on trees. He even left his basketball behind, which is clear evidence that he was dunking in his own backyard.

Early Sunday morning, eight people were found dead inside an 18-wheeler trailer that was parked at a Walmart in San Antonio, Texas. It’s believed that they were illegal immigrants and the victims of human trafficking. Authorities found dozens of more people inside the truck, who were miraculously still alive despite being forced to endure absolutely hellacious conditions.

Here’s CNBC with more details on this terrible news.

Another 30 people, many suffering from heat stoke and exhaustion, were with the bodies in the trailer, which lacked air conditioning or a water supply, San Antonio Fire Chief Charles Hood said.

The truck’s driver was arrested and will be charged, said Richard Durbin, U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, and prosecutors will work to identify others responsible.

“These people were helpless in the hands of their transporters,” Durbin said in a statement, adding the heat in southern Texas is “punishing” at this time of year.

“Imagine their suffering, trapped in a stifling trailer in 100-plus degree heat,” he said. They were victims of “ruthless human smugglers indifferent to the well-being of their fragile cargo,” he added.

CNBC also reports that 20 people were airlifted to hospitals with critical to very critical conditions, while eight people were hospitalized with less serious injuries. Human trafficking is one of the sickest crimes imaginable, and let’s pray that everyone responsible for this tragedy is found and punished to the fullest extent of the law.

At San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, an official three-minute trailer for Stranger Things hit the World Wide Web, and unsurprisingly, it was all of the fire flame emojis.

Green thought that McGregor was rocking his jersey, but it was actually an old C.J. Watson jersey, as the point guard used to wear #23 for the Warriors before Green. If you thought Conor was going to give Green a pass for this blunder, boy, oh boy, were you ever mistaken.

McGregor responded to Green in the comments, saying of the No. 23 jersey: “That’s C.J Watson mate. I don’t know who the f–k you are. No disrespect tho kid, keep hustling and stay in school.”

He added: “Now ask yourself why I’m rocking C.J. when I don’t know or give a f–k about basketball. I dribble heads off the floor. Not a ball. This is no game here kid.”

“I dribble heads off the floor” is an absolutely fantastic line. McGregor might not be able to box worth a damn, but he is most definitely an elite trash talker. As for why the hell McGregor would wear a Watson jersey in the first place, there is a method to his madness.

According to USA Today, Watson and Mayweather have a history that McGregor loves to bring up to irk Floyd.

With Mayweather he has plenty to go at. Back in January, back when the fight still seemed improbable, McGregor took aim at his opponent’s ugly domestic violence record. Mayweather spent time in prison for battering Josie Harris, mother to three of his children, in September 2010. Having split with Harris, she says he entered her home in the middle of the night and was infuriated to find messages from NBA player C.J. Watson on her phone. Mayweather’s son Koraun, then 10, told the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department that he had seen his father on top of Harris — hitting and kicking her.

Earlier this year, McGregor posted a cartoon of himself standing above Mayweather and holding two belts, with the quote “call me C.J. Watson” written beneath. His tack might have changed now the fight has been made. After all, the Irishman is mightily grateful for the chance to earn himself a whopping payday of around $75 million. Yet even if he leaves the domestic violence issue alone, he surely has plenty more in store for Mayweather.

New Jersey native Scott Blumstein and Pennsylvania’s Daniel Ott were the last two players standing at the 2017 World Series of Poker. Blumstein had a substantial chip lead, but the tournament was still far from over.

After Ott raised from the big blind position, Blumstein went all-in. Ott had to choose between calling and risking elimination or folding and living to fight another day. Ott decided to push all of his chips into the center of the table, and with him holding Ace-eight suited vs. Blumstein’s hand of Ace-two offsuit, he made the right call.

But even though the odds were overwhelmingly in Ott’s favor, the poker gods ripped his heart out. In the video below, watch Blumstein win the World Series of Poker and $8.15 million in thrilling fashion.

Jordan Spieth came up big down the stretch today, hitting some spectacular shots to hold off Matt Kuchar and win the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale by three strokes. Spieth shot a 69 in his final round, putting him at -12 for the tournament, while Kuchar posted a 69 today and was -9 for the Open.

This victory gave Spieth his third major championship at just 23-years-old, which is absolutely ridiculous. The Dallas, Texas native had previously won The Masters and the U.S. Open in 2015, so he now only needs a PGA Championship win to complete the Career Grand Slam.

Spieth is so damn good that even his bogeys are impressive. Watch him get out trouble on the 13th hole with this amazing shot.

After bogeying 13, Spieth got into a groove. He went birdie, eagle, birdie, birdie, par to cap off his day and secure the victory.

Via Bleacher Report, some deranged McGregor fans are taking this upcoming fight way too seriously.

According to Ed Gleave of the Daily Star Sunday, Clarke on Thursday had a brick thrown through her window at her home in Essex, England. It had a note attached to it that read “F–k the Mayweathers,” which is “often chanted by McGregor fans.”

Per Gleave, Clarke and Mayweather have “secretly been dating for months” and she was targeted “within hours of the news breaking” that Mayweather and McGregor were going to fight Aug. 26.

In addition, Clarke is said to have been confronted by three individuals in the street and verbally abused. “You’re loose,” the trio in question are alleged to have said. “Mayweather’s gonna die.”

A source quoted in the report said Clarke, who was a regular on the cast of reality television show The Only Way Is Essex, is “worried about her safety.”

“It was horrific,” said a friend quoted in the report. “Abi was understandably shaken by what happened.

“When neighbours went round to offer support, she was having a panic attack.”

That’s so f*cked up. You can throw bricks until you need Tommy John surgery, but that’s not going to magically turn McGregor into a legitimate boxer. Take a chill pill, ya goddamn weirdos.

Five people injured have been injured in the Switzerland town of Schaffhausen in an attack by an unidentified man wielding a chainsaw. Two of the injured are in serious condition.

According to police spokeswoman Cindy Beer, the town has been locked down, and police and ambulances are on the scene and rescue helicopters are circling overhead.

At a news conference, police said the attacker was on the run, and a large number of officers had been deployed in the area. While the suspect has been identified, he currently remains at large. Police are currently searching for the suspect, who is being described as being 6′ 2″ tall, with an unkempt appearance, and is believed to be driving a white Volkswagen van.

Police have confirmed that the attack was not terror related.

Footage shows panicked shoppers watching as cops seal off the cobbled streets of the town centre. Local news site Blick reports accounts from locals saying an elderly man with severe head wounds was rushed in an ambulance to hospital.

Another eyewitness claimed to see at least two people being treated. A shoe shop worker said one of their customers was among the injured, adding: “Nobody can leave the stores anymore.”

Schaffhausen police confirmed they were involved in a “special situation” and are hunting for a suspect.At least five people were injured with two in a serious condition, spokesperson Cindy Beer added.
