Horrible news is coming out of central Arizona, as it’s being reported that several people have died from severe flash flooding. On Saturday afternoon, 14 family members went to Cold Springs Swimming Hole near Payson, Arizona. Heavy rainfall caused flash flooding, and at around 3:30 P.M., the Gila County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call about people missing.

Via the New York Daily News, here are the heartbreaking details.

Fourteen people gathered at the East Verde River for a family get-together and a day of swimming were swept away by the flood, Sgt. David Horning told the Daily News.

Four people were rescued Saturday and airlifted to Banner Hospital, he said.

Seven people were confirmed dead on Sunday. Among the dead were two children, Horning said.

He added that three others – adults and kids – remain missing.The victims range in ages between 2 and 60, he said.

According to CNN, a search and rescue mission is still ongoing, and the National Weather Service has issued a flash flood warning for most of Arizona until Monday evening. Here are photos and videos of both the frightening scene and the rescue efforts.

Legendary director George Romero has passed away at the age of 77.

According to a statement from his manager Chris Roe, the legendary horror director died in his sleep following a ‘brief but aggressive’ battle with lung cancer.

“Legendary filmmaker George A. Romero passed away on Sunday July 16, listening to the score of ‘The Quiet Man,’ one of his all-time favorite films, with his wife, Suzanne Desrocher Romero, and daughter, Tina Romero at his side,” the statement said. “He died peacefully in his sleep, following a brief but aggressive battle with lung cancer, and leaves behind a loving family, many friends, and a filmmaking legacy that has endured, and will continue to endure, the test of time.”

George Andrew Romero was an American-Canadian filmmaker, writer and editor, best known for his series of gruesome and satirical horror films about an imagined zombie apocalypse, beginning in 1968 with Night of the Living Dead, which is often considered a progenitor of the fictional zombie of modern culture. Other notable films in the series include Dawn of the Dead (1978) and Day of the Dead (1985).

His fourth Dead movie “Land of the Dead” was made in Toronto in 2005, starring Simon Baker, Dennis Hopper, Asia Argento and John Leguizamo. He followed that with “Diary of the Dead” in 2008 and “Survival of the Dead” in 2010. He also worked on video games and wrote comic books.

Romero was born in the Bronx, New York, to a Cuban father and a Lithuanian mother. He eventually graduated Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh.

Romero is survived by his wife Suzanne and three children.

Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office

Therese Gunn, a 54-year-old orchestra teacher in Georgia, admitted in court that she had a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student.

Gunn, the 54-year-old former teacher at South Gwinnett High School, told the court that she was sorry but that the student was “like a used car salesman.”

According to reports, Gunn, who worked as a teacher for 25 years, engaged in sexual relations with the student on school property. Gunn was caught after the unidentified student’s mother found her son’s diary.

Gunn entered the guilty plea and was sentenced to 90 days in prison, despite her lawyer’s push for house arrest. She will be on probation for 10 years.

“I don’t find that you’re the kind of person that needs to be warehoused for years,” Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Warren Davis reportedly said. “We get those cases and we get them out of society as long as we can. You’re not one of those. But you clearly betrayed the trust that you had of parents, this parent, putting this child in your care.”

Under Georgia law, any sexual contact between someone with a supervisory role is illegal, even if the encounter is consensual, the report said. The student in this case told the court that Gunn “made [his] adolescence a living hell.”

Gunn, who resigned from her position in 2016, is the fourth teacher from Gwinnett who has been arrested on sex-related charges since 2015.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Consitution, Gunn initially blamed her victim, stating the 17-year-old boy had coerced her into the relationship, calling him a “used car salesman” in front of Judge Warren Davis.

Davis didn’t care for that argument, nor did prosecutor Karen West. And after Gunn entered her guilty plea to a single count of sexual assault by a person with supervisory authority, the judge sentenced her to serve just 90 days in prison.

The remainder of her 10-year sentence will be spent on probation.

Although Gunn was originally charged with multiple counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, she was eventually not indicted on those charges.

D’Onta Foreman, a rookie running back for the Houston Texans, has been arrested on drug and weapons charges.

According to a statement from the University of Texas Police Department, university police officers answered a report of the smell of marijuana outside a campus dormitory around 12:30 AM on Sunday, July 16.

When the officers arrived, they found three occupied vehicles with marijuana in each and a firearm in one of them.

Foreman, who was selected in the third round with the 89th overall by the Houston Texans, claims the gun was legal and the marijuana wasn’t his.

Foreman, whom police described as the owner of the firearm, was taken into custody and later released on bond. Six other men were cited for possession of marijuana and released.

Foreman’s attorney, Chip B. Lewis, said in a statement that the running back was in Austin to visit friends, possessed the handgun legally and that he did not use the marijuana, which was not his, but belonged to a passenger in the vehicle.

Foreman’s attorney released a statement on the matter, saying his client will submit a drug test to demonstrate he was not using marijuana.

“Prior to a search of his vehicle, D’Onta alerted the officer that he had a handgun inside of his vehicle,” the statement said. “This legal handgun was recently purchased by D’Onta and registered in his name. The handgun was properly secured inside his vehicle as required by Texas law. A passenger in D’Onta’s vehicle was in possession of marijuana. D’Onta did not use or possess the marijuana. Upon making his bond, he will submit to urinalysis and confirm he has not used marijuana. D’Onta appreciates the professionalism of the officers involved in his arrest and booking into the Travis County jail. We are confident this matter will be resolved justly once the state of Texas applies the applicable law to the facts.”

Foreman was arrested on charges of unlawful carrying of a weapon and marijuana possession, both misdemeanors. He was released on bond.

The Texans also released a statement saying that said the organization is aware of the situation and is gathering more information.

Foreman won the Doak Walker Award after rushing for 2,028 yards and 15 touchdowns at the University of Texas last season.

According to reports, an unidentified gunman reportedly stormed the Friedrich Ebert School in Germany.

Students were told to stay in their classrooms and barricade the doors of Friedrich Ebert School as cops combed the area.

The suspect, who was reportedly wearing a blue shrirt, is described as a man aged between 17 and 19, with a dark complexion and beard.

German police on Monday were hunting for a man who entered a high school in southwestern Germany with a firearm — but authorities initially arrested the wrong man.

The armed man entered the Friedrich Ebert School in Esslingen, near Stuttgart, prompting a lockdown, police spokesman Bjoern Reusch said. The man didn’t use the weapon and was only briefly in the school.

Police searched the building and initially arrested a man, but let him go after realizing he wasn’t the gunman. Police believe the suspect, who was described as wearing a blue T-shirt, blue jeans and reading glasses, fled on a motor bike.

Police spokesman Bjoern Reusch said there are no injuries at this time.

They say you know you really know you’ve made it when they start making life-threatening drugs in the shape of your head. At least that’s how I think the saying goes.

According to the Daily Mail, the new pills, which were produced in Amsterdam, contain ‘dangerously high’ levels of MDMA.

The report states that one website, which offers 1,000 of the pills for £1,200, uses a play on President Trump’s famous catchphrase, promoting their product with the line: ‘Trump makes partying great again.’

This comes just a month or so after an Ikea-branded ecstasy people took Europe by storm.

Last month, police sent out a public health warning after a batch of ‘Ikea’ ecstasy tablets hospitalised scores of people and was blamed for the death of a teenager.

Kyle Pringle, 18, of St. Helier, died after taking them as police carried out three arrests around Jersey, seizing a quantity of the drugs. The small blue and yellow pills, which are branded with a logo resembling that of the Swedish furniture giant, have flooded the island of Jersey.

Revellers taking them have had to seek medical treatment, as police there said they are ‘much stronger than expected’. While subject to toxicology reports and a post-mortem, evidence suggested the death was a result of consuming the ‘Ikea’ ecstasy tablets.

It’s become clear that ecstasy manufacturers are just trying to create the most ‘viral’ looking pill, and a Donald Trump shaped pill is definitely one way of achieving that virality.

David Clark, a Minnesota man, and his four passengers were injured when his Tesla suddenly accelerated while on autopilot and careened off the road.

Clark, 58, of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, had put the electric car into its autopilot feature as they were approaching the intersection of 141st Street and 172nd Avenue in Irving Township, Minnesota.

According to the Kandiyohi County Sheriff’s Office, the 2016 Tesla ended up on its roof with its five occupants sustaining minor injuries. Here’s the account of driver David Clark via the police report:

According to the police report, the Tesla was driving towards an intersection where it would have to either turn left or right. The Google Image result appears to show a marsh on the opposite end of the intersection from the direction Clark was reportedly driving.

Of course, Tesla’s Autopilot is only a Level Two system, meaning the driver of the vehicle is still completely responsible for being aware of the circumstances of the road, with a suite of safety features and warnings in the car simply there to assist and alert the driver.

A Tesla spokesperson released a statement on the accident:

“We are glad the driver and passengers are safe. We are working to establish the facts of the incident and have offered our full cooperation to the local authorities. We have not yet established whether the vehicle’s Autopilot feature was activated, and have no reason to believe that Autopilot, which has been found by NHTSA to reduce accident rates by 40 percent, worked other than as designed.

Every time a driver engages Autopilot, they are reminded of their responsibility to remain engaged and to be prepared to take immediate action at all times, and drivers must acknowledge their responsibility to do so before Autopilot is enabled.”

Activision and Sledgehammer made a promise to revitalize the long-standing but stale Call of Duty franchise with its new release, Call of Duty: WWII, which has received mixed criticism from many different gaming news outlets. This release left many onlookers concerned however, with many complaints about its unrefined graphics, an outdated game engine and the exclusion of realistic multiplayer elements plagued the release’s splash onto the scene.

Some hardcore fans of the Call of Duty franchise still continue to praise the game series and greatly anticipate the upcoming shooter’s release.

Here’s what we’ve been told about the trailers, multiplayer and release information for a game that’s been molded from a decade-long hiatus of WWII titles:

Trailer:

Numerous trailers have been released about the game’s playing features, along with some cinematics. These updates have come since the teaser trailer was released back in April:

This spurred a lot of interest from around the gaming scene about what form this game would take. How different would the storyline be from Call of Duty: World at War? Would we see Nazi Zombies? How will the multiplayer experience feel? We got a sneak peek at some interesting cinematics during E3 in Los Angeles that answered some of the questions:

Gameplay

Along with another cinematic trailer, we saw the official multiplayer reveal trailer. This showed us the competitive gameplay aspects as well as features of the new Allied and Axis weaponry that’ll be featured in this chapter.

Call of Duty: WWII featured fast-paced mutliplayer gameplay that beckons back to previous titles in the series. Sledgehammer included several new additions to the new title too though, including a new “War” mode, that involves fun, strategic gameplay that involves teams taking objective points. The new part of this gamemode is that the game will feature mini-stories that change depending on the team you’re playing on.

We also see the addition of “iconic World War II divisions” that each have their own set of attributes, making strategic planning a breeze. The feature is reminiscent of Battlefield 1 in its strategy.

We learned about a new gametype called “Headquarters,” which involves players interacting in a social hub situation outside of the battles. The theme is to remind players that men didn’t always fight. You can customize your character and show off your skills and upgrades with other people in this mode.

We also saw hints of a Zombie mode, only it isn’t Nazi zombies. Just like everywhere else in any multiplayer mode, Sledgehammer removed Nazi imagery and replaced them with more politically correct representations of figures in battles. A trailer for this mode recently leaked:

Activision plans to have a multiplayer beta run before the game’s official release date for anyone who pre-ordered the game. The beta launches first on PlayStation 4. More information is sure to release during the upcoming Comic-Con in San Diego this July.

R. Kelly is a well-known singer-songwriter, record producer, and former professional basketball player.

He began his career when he first sang for his church when he was eight years old. He grew up on the south side of Chicago to a single mother who was also a singer. In high school, his influential music teacher encouraged him to perform in a high school talent show. In addition, he performed under the L tracks in Chicago. After that brief stint, R. Kelly formed a group of vocalists called MGM.

His first solo release album called 12 Play eventually went platinum six times with a half-dozen chart topping hits like Bump N’ Grind and Your Body’s Callin’.

Kelly’s first solo album, 12 Play, was released on November 9, 1993 and yielded the singer’s first number-one hit, “Bump N’ Grind”, which spent a record-breaking 12 weeks at number one on the Billboard Hot R&B Singles chart. Subsequent hit singles: “Your Body’s Callin'” (U.S. Hot 100: #13, U.S. R&B: #2) and “Sex Me” (U.S. Hot 100: #20, U.S. R&B: #8). Both singles sold 500,000 copies in the United States and were certified Gold by the RIAA. In 1994, 12 Play was certified Gold by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), eventually going six times platinum. On November 26, 1996, Kelly released “I Believe I Can Fly”, an inspirational song originally released on the soundtrack for the film Space Jam. “I Believe I Can Fly” reached No. 2 on the BillboardHot 100, and No. 1 on the UK charts for three weeks and won three Grammy Awards in 1998.

On November 17, 1998, Kelly released his fourth studio album and first double album R.. Musically, the album spans different genres from pop (Celine Dion), street rap (Nas and Jay-Z) to Blues(“Suicide”). In January 2000, Kelly had won Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist at the American Music Awards, and in February, was nominated for several Grammy Awards, including Best Male R&B Vocal Performance (“When a Woman’s Fed Up”), Best R&B Album (R.), and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group (“Satisfy You”) with P. Diddy.

In May 2002, Kelly’s initial sixth studio album, Loveland, leaked and was delayed to release in November. Instead, Kelly re-recorded the entire album, titled it Chocolate Factory and featured several of the bootlegged tracks on the bonus Loveland disc.

In 2005, Kelly released his seventh studio LP, TP.3 Reloaded. The album included chapters of “Trapped in the Closet“.

2006-2015

On 2006, Kelly started The Light It Up Tour, It later became his first concert DVD.

On May 29, 2007, R Kelly released his eighth studio album Double Up, which included the hit single “I’m a Flirt (Remix)”, featuring T.I. and T-Pain. On June 3, 2009, Kelly released his first ever mixtape, The Demo Tape (Gangsta Grillz) presented by DJ Skee and DJ Drama as a way to reintroduce himself to fans.

In March 2011, Kelly was named the #1 R&B artist of the last 25 years by Billboard. In his career, Kelly has amassed 35 top 10 hits and 11 #1 hits on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. On June 26, 2012, Kelly released his eleventh studio album, Write Me Back.

On July 14, 2015, R. Kelly announced that The Buffet will be released September 25, 2015. However, it was later pushed back to December 11, 2015. The album’s first single “Backyard Party” was released August 21, 2015. The album’s second single “Switch Up” was released November 5, 2015.

2016-Present

Originally slated to be released in late 2014, Kelly presented his first Christmas album, and the fourteenth studio album, 12 Nights of Christmas, on October 21, 2016. As of 2017, he has not produced any notable tracks; however, he is still alive and inspiring others with his life stories.

Jim Tinney, a 70-year-old veteran working at a Texas Home Depot, was fired after he tried to stop shoplifters taking thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

Tinney, 70, saw three men trying to run out of the store carrying tool sets last month. He said he reacted on reflex and threw a paint roller extension toward one shoplifter’s feet. The shoplifters weren’t hurt and got away.

According to KTRK, Tinney thought the ordeal was over until two weeks later when he was fired from his position. Tinney does admit that his training at the store was clear that he should not confront shoplifters.

“In the Army, they train you to do things like that,” Tinney said. “I just automatically went like this and threw the stick at their feet.”

Stephen Holmes, a spokesman for the company, said the policy is in place for everyone’s safety. He described dangerous encounters that have stemmed from employees disregarding policy to confront shoplifting suspects.

Tinney understands that he violated policy, but he believes the punishment doesn’t fit.

“I think they could have written me up, reprimanded me, but terminate me? That’s pretty strong,” he said. “I’m 70 years old. I need to work. I needed that job. I enjoyed working with customers figuring out what they wanted to do. It’s fun.”

Stephen Holmes, director of corporate communications at The Home Depot, released a statement on the issue:

“What I can tell you now is that we have a strict policy that only our trained security personnel can pursue and engage shoplifters. We’ve had deaths and serious injury over the years, and no amount of merchandise is more important than the safety of our associates and customers.

Last week, we had an associate bitten. We’ve had stabbings, another associate with serious brain damage, and it goes on from there. In fact, in just the past 24 hours we’ve had two shoplifters pull guns at two different stores at both ends of the country. So you can see, it’s a very serious safety risk to everyone, even when it doesn’t appear to be.”

A deadly new game is spreading throughout the internet called “The Blue Whale Challenge.” This new viral craze is popping up in many countries online, taking the lives of targets, some as young as 12 years old. After completing the required amount of tasks, the player commits suicide.

What is the Blue Whale Challenge?

The Blue Whale Challenge is a game that encourages young people to take their own lives. Administrators send instruction to players online to complete a daily task for 50 straight days up until the end of the game. To provide proof that the player completed the task, the players usually must send a photo to a “curator” or a “whale,” which is usually a much older person manipulating the player. Some of these tasks require self-mutilation.

This game originated in Russia in 2013. F57 was a name of one of these alleged cyber death groups of the VKontakte social network. In 2015, this group allegedly caused its first suicide.

Philipp Budeikin, 21, claims to have invented the game. He’s an expelled psychology student whose stated goal is to cleanse society by constructing a game that triggers “unworthy” people to kill themselves. The consequences of this game has led to suicide prevention legislation in Russia, and has been linked to at least 130 teen deaths across that nation. Budeikin has been arrested and pleaded guilty to “inciting at least 16 teenage girls to commit suicide,” according to Newsbeat.

The deadly game can be found in at least 18 countries throughout the world. Reported deaths attributed to Blue Whale Challenge Game have been popping up in the following countries:

What are the 50 tasks of the Blue Whale Challenge?

In order to complete the game, the player must finish 50 tasks. Here are all the challenges for this very deadly game….

• Carve a specific phrase on your hand or arm.
• Wake up at 4:20 a.m. and watch a scary video (sent by the “curator”.)
• Make lengthwise cuts on your arm.
• Draw a whale on a piece of paper
• Write “yes” on your leg if you’re ready to be a whale. Otherwise, cut yourself multiple times.
• Secret task (written in code.)
• Scratch (a message) on your arm.
• Write a status online about being a whale.
• Overcome a specific fear.
• Get up at 4:20 and go to the roof.
• Carve a whale on your hand.
• Watch scary videos all day.
• Listen to whatever music the “curator” sends.
• Cut your lip.
• Poke your arm/hand with a needle.
• Make yourself get hurt or sick.
• Go to a roof and stand on the edge.
• Stand on a bridge.
• Climb a crane.
• At this step, the “whale” determines if the player is trustworthy.
• Talk with a “whale” on Skype.
• Sit down on a roof with legs dangling over the edge.
• Another job that is in code.
• A secret mission
• Meet with a “whale.”
• The “curator” assigns a date when you will die.
• Visit a railroad.
• Do not talk with anyone all day.
• Give an oath/vow about being a whale

But that’s not all! The player still has challenges #30-49 to complete, which involve watching and listening to whatever the curator sends, whether it’s horror films or music. Those tasks may also require talking to a whale or further self-mutilation. The final challenge requires the player to jump off a building.

It should be noted that these tasks can change at any time.

The Psychology Manipulation of the Blue Whale Challenge

Some experts have pointed to the influence of the “whale” in manipulating the young player to commit suicide. This psychological manipulation may take effect or become intensified whenever there is direct contact between the “whale” and the “participant,” such as during a Skype session.

Zach Lawrence, a 38-year-old Ohio man who was in a coma after suffering a traumatic brain injury in a car accident in Europe, was able to give his family a sliver of hope, and all because of his hate for the University of Michigan.

Lawrence, 38, suffered the injury in an accident in the former Soviet republic of Georgia in March. He returned to Columbus in April and, the Columbus Dispatch reports, doctors thought he had little chance of waking up. His family was told they could expect to turn off his feeding tube within six to 12 months.

In addition to answering ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions, Lawrence has begun making sounds, keeping his eyes open and smiling at his children, the newspaper reported.

He is also able to give a thumbs up, stand on a treadmill and hold a crayon or pencil.

Four months later, though, Lawrence was asked to press a “yes” or “no” button in answer to the question of whether or not he liked Michigan. To the delight of his family, the lifelong Ohio State football fan hit “no” twice.

Lawrence has begun making sounds, keeping his eyes open and smiling at his children, the newspaper reported. Lawrence is also able to give a thumbs up, stand on a treadmill and hold a crayon or pencil, the better to color with his six-year-old daughter, Adrianne, and four-year-old son, Donovan.

Lawrence’s wife, Meghan, credits Ohio State University’s Dodd Hall rehabilitation hospital for his unexpected progress, adding that the family were “not sure how we got so lucky for them to take him in”.

Lawrence is currently scheduled to stay at Ohio State University’s Dodd Hall rehabilitation hospital until Friday, July 21.

The family says they’re hoping Zach makes enough progress to have that time extended.

An Australian woman called 911 on Saturday night, as she suspected a sexual assault was taking place in a back alley near her home in Minneapolis, Minnesota. When police arrived, she was shot dead in her pajamas.

Justine Ruszczyk Damond’s interaction with Minneapolis police proved deadly. The department has yet to offer a motive into the shooting, as the matter is still “under investigation.”

What Happened?

Shortly before 11 p.m. on a Saturday night, two Minneapolis police officers arrived on the scene, responding to a potential assault. Both officers were wearing body-cams, but they were not on during their interaction with the now-deceased 40-year-old Australian woman.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune newspaper reports that Damond was in her pajamas when she approached the vehicle to speak with an officer. Mohamad Noor of the Minneapolis Police Department allegedly discharged his weapon, effectively killing the Ms. Damond.

Damond was speaking to Noor’s partner at the time of the incident. He allegedly shot across his partner. Noor had been on the force for one year prior to the shooting.

“Three sources with knowledge of the incident said Sunday that two officers in one squad car, responding to the 911 call, pulled into the alley. Damond, in her pajamas, went to the driver’s side door and was talking to the driver. The officer in the passenger seat pulled his gun and shot Damond through the driver’s side door, sources confirmed. No weapon was found at the scene,” the Star Tribune reported.

“I was struck by the size of the body lying under the blanket there, I thought at first it must have been a child,” she said. “It was only later that I realized it was Justine, and it was such a shock. She didn’t deserve this to happen.”

More about the victim of this shooting

Damond has duel-citizenship in the United States and Australia. She was a trained veterinarian, a life coach, and a yoga instructor. She was also a finacée and a future stepmother. She was set to marry Don Damond, the vice president of Little Six Casino, who was away on business at the time of shooting.

Justine’s soon-to-be stepson Zach Damond is shocked over the shooting. If he could tell that officer anything at all, it would be…“Why? Why would you do this? He has no idea the impact that he has on thousands of people. No idea.

“But I hope that he wakes up every single day and thinks about it. And then I hope that he thinks about how he can be a better person because that’s what she did every single day. And if you don’t do that, you’re not even living either.”

“Basically my mum’s dead because a police officer shot her for reasons I don’t know,” said Zach. “America sucks.”

In the United States, the most popular emoji involve rolling on the floor while laughing. On Facebook and Twitter, the most used emoji is the “laugh cry face.” The second most used emoji worldwide is the heart eyes, as users show lust and/or affection through their cyber smiley faces.

It seems as if most people don’t like using negative emojis. On Facebook, none of the top 10 most used emojis express negative emotions.
