1985 – 1990

2 Live Crew dropped their first single, “Revelation,” in 1985. A year later, the group released their debut album The 2 Live Crew Is What We Are. This album was notably sexually explicit, with tracks such as “We Want Some Pussy” and “Throw the ‘D’.” A Florida store clerk was even arrested for multiple felonies in 1987 for selling this album to a 14-year-old girl. The charges against the clerk was dropped, but the message was clear: 2 Live Crew’s music was so controversial that it was potentially illegal.

In 1988, the group released their second album Move Somethin’, which sold better than the first album, hitting #68 on the Billboard 200 and #20 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums chart. But a year later, the band released As Nasty As They Wanna Be and that’s when the shit hit the fan.

As Nasty As They Wanna Be actually got 2 Live Crew arrested. They were performing songs from their latest album at Club Futura in Hollywood, Florida, when all three members of 2 Live Crew was apprehended by police. They were later acquitted of all charges in 1992.

1990 – 1998

In 1990, the group fired back at the Governor of Florida with their fourth studio album Banned in the U.S.A. The album included a personal diss track to the governor himself, entitled “F*ck Martinez.” That song also disrespected Broward County Sheriff Nick Navarro by repeating the words “f*ck Navarro” throughout the song. Later that year, the group released their very first and only live album, simply entitled: Live in Concert.

A year later, 2 Live Crew came out with the sequel to As Nasty As They Wanna Be. The album was called Sports Weekend: As Nasty As They Wanna Be, Pt. 2, and included the hit song “Pop That Pussy.”

In 1992, Fresh Ice Kid decided to focus on a solo career, releasing his debut album The Chinaman. However, they did reform for one song in 1995, entitled “Hoochie Mama” for the soundtrack of the film Friday. 2 Live Crew officially got back together in 1996 to release their seventh studio album Shake a Lil’ Somethin’, which peaked at #145 on the Billboard 200 and #33 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums.

1998 – Present

2 Live Crew released their eighth and final studio album The Real One in 1998. After this album, the group made reunions in 2010 and 2014. 2 Live Crew released the single “Take It Off” in June 2014. The music video featured cameos from hip hop icons: Mannie Fresh, Flavor Flav, Trina, Flo Rida, and Trick Daddy.

After 2 Live Crew disbanded, Fresh Kid Ice looked to expand his solo career. He released his second studio album Still Nasty in the year 2000. The music video of main single “I Wanna Dance Yall” was only shown on BET Uncut because of the song’s graphic nature. However, it became BET Uncut’s top rated music videos.

In 2004, Fresh Kid Ice released two more studio albums. Both albums (Stop Playin and Freaky Chinese) were released under Ice’s Chinaman Records.

As recently as of 2017, Fresh Kid Ice dropped a mixtape, entitled Breaking Glass Ceilings Vol. 1. The mixtape featured a slew of new rappers, allowing these young, up-and-coming musicians to “break the glass ceiling” into the hip hop industry.

Chris Wong Won (Fresh Ice Kid) passed away at 7:50 A.M. on Thursday, July, 13, 2017. He died in Miami, Florida, the place where he rose to fame. Won will be remembered for his impact on American music and culture.

Miko Grimes is one of the most, ahem, outspoke WAGs in all of sports. There’s no doubt that she has no chill and gives zero f—s as evidenced by her brash, unfiltered comments over the years. She’s ready and willing to say absolutely anything on social media, especially when it comes to defending her NFL cornerback husband Brent Grimes.

Miko has gone out of her way to roast everyone including NFL reporter Greg Rosenthal, broadcaster Sage Steele and even Kate Upton. She’s a fearless s— talker, which we respect.

Now Miko is saying all of the controversy she drums up is part of a master plan to get the Miami Dolphins to release Brent. Yes, you hear that correctly. Miko is claiming her shots at the franchise, Miami media and Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill are all an elaborate mission. No word yet on whether or not her arrest at a Dolphins-Bills game was part of it as well.

Here’s what she said to Sports Illustrated:

Presumably plenty of wives have gotten their husbands traded or released. Miko is the only one who will brag about it. “People say I got him cut with my mouth,” she says. “Duh! That was the goal!” According to Miko, the Dolphins had told Brent he had to take a pay cut; if he declined, they would wait until other teams used up all their cap space and then release him. (A Dolphins spokesman says that these discussions never happened.) At home, Brent said he’d sooner retire. But Miko wasn’t going to let that happen—instead she would get him run out of town by going “as wild as possible on social media.” Her version of what happened next: “[Brent] said, ‘Go for it.’ I got his full permission to be as disrespectful to the Dolphins as I wanted to be. And I threw in Tannehill because I don’t like him or his wife.”

So what does Brent, now with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, think about all of this?

Occasionally, people will bring Miko’s new tweets to Brent’s attention. He says, “I’m like, What’d she say? And then I’m like, Oh, goddam. All right, she be getting mad. People talk crazy to her all the time, and sometimes she just snaps, I guess.” As to whether he indeed sanctioned the tweets for which the Dolphins ran him and Miko out of town: “Oh, uh, I don’t know about that…”

The penultimate press conference that will continue to up the ante in terms of unabashed trash talking, Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather will look to increase interest for their controversial bout in August when they meet face-to-face in Brooklyn. While the notion of a MMA fighter taking on a professional boxer is unprecedented in and of itself, at this point there can’t be too much hype for a main event that is extremely polarizing.

Of course, ever since this showdown was announced, critics have expressed their concern on how this matchup will demean the integrity of professional boxing while increasing the excitement for mixed martial arts events. Certainly, regardless of the outcome, fighting as a sport will never quite be the same. Whether this will usher in a much-needed evolution of the sport in general or create a convoluted mess remains to be seen.

At the end of the day, even the most ardent boxing traditionalist will have a difficult time looking away from the ridiculous spectacle that is tonights press conference and, possibly, the inevitable showdown that will either be epicly engaging or dramatically disappointing.

Justina Whitmore later went on her Facebook to give her account about the story of her son and the poopy playground (sounds like a Captain Underpants graphic novel). Whitmore suggests that the McDonald’s staff didn’t take the situation seriously. She claims to have been eating when her son approached her fresh from the slide covered in poop.

The restaurant owner told reporters that “we hold ourselves to the highest standard and apologize for Ms. Whitemore and her son’s negative experience at our restaurant.”

The owner of that Manchester McDonald’s said that he had been in touch with Whitmore directly.

Meanwhile, the Manchester Health Department gave the green light for that particular McDonalds to be reopened after the formerly soiled was cleaned and disinfected.

But this still doesn’t crack the case entirely. Who is the culprit behind that crap? I suppose the world may never know…

Karim Kharbouch, better known as his stage name French Montana, is a Moroccan-American recording hip-hop artist. Well known for his vibrant taste in music as well as his presence in the fashion world, French Montana is also the founder of Coke Boys Record.

The upcoming artist’s second studio album is releasing today, Friday the 14th, 2017. Some notable rappers in the music realm are featured including Future, Travis Scott, The Weeknd, Young Thug, Pharrell Williams, Quavo, T.I., Swae Lee, Chinx, and Max B.

The cover art elicits a wavy and trance like-feel. The color ray of the background color is of rainbow color. The album title is etched on the bottom left corner in block white font. On the opposite end, French Montana’s name is stamped with white block letters. On the center, his face appears explicitly with smoke coming out of his mouth. He appears to be wearing a fur coat.

When listening to his album, it embodies the “French Montana” vibe. His lyrics are very smooth and easy to follow. Not only that, his background beats are groovy and consistent to the verses and hook line. Although I only listened to two major songs, I already love the album. The focal point of the album seems to be “Unforgettable” featuring Swae Lee. With Swae Lee’s high-pitch reverberated voice and French Montana’s relaxed tone, the fusion of music and lyricism is just perfect. The other song, “Bring Dem Things,” featuring Pharrell Williams, introduces an odd outro. The beats remind me of old horror movies from the past. However, the hook and the rap lines are perfect and aligned with Pharrell’s part.

Overall, check this album out! Just like his past albums and tracks, French Montana never fails to deliver fun and trending music. Also, he includes top names and personalities in order to make his album unique and original.

The Ball family has earned its fair share of criticism over the last 12 months. Father LaVar has quickly risen to infamy with his bold (read: bulls—) claims about being able to beat Michael Jordan one-on-one and how his sons are better than LeBron James and Steph Curry. No. 2 overall pick Lonzo Ball has been put under the microscope as a result and his hometown L.A. storyline with the Lakers is already beginning to rub people the wrong way. Then there’s youngest child LaMelo, who repeatedly dropped a racial slur on live national television. So, yeah, you could say the Ball family is a bit irksome.

And their sphere of annoyance isn’t restricted to just basketball. Other star athletes have begun taking shots at the family and now that list includes Houston Texans superstar J.J. Watt. On Thursday, Watt posted this Tweet taking aim at the family’s Big Baller Brand – which has gotten off to an inauspicious start as Lonzo will be the first top two pick in recent memory to enter the NBA without a shoe deal – while promoting his new Reebok shoes that dropped at midnight.

Of course, Watt was referring to the outrageous price of the BBB sneakers especially considering that a Ball has not played a single minute in the NBA. It would be like a first-time director charging you $40 for a ticket to their movie while whispering, “I promise it’s the best thing ever!”

Watt is also hilariously referring to the fact that Lonzo didn’t even wear his dad’s shoes during his last summer game outing. And played significantly better without them.

Rapper DMX, born Earl Simmons, has been arrested in New York on federal tax fraud charges. Prosecutors say that Simmons owes $1.7 million in taxes and has engaged in a multi-years scheme to conceal millions of dollars of income from the Internal Revenue Service.

According to prosecutors, Simmons earned millions from his music, including the 2003 hit “X Gon’ Give it to Ya,” and avoided paying taxes by establishing fake accounts in other’s names and paying personal expenses largely in cash.

The 46-year-old Yonkers native was arrested on Thursday. He is now set to appear in Manhattan federal court on Friday. A telephone call to his previous lawyer’s office from USA Today was not returned.

This isn’t the first time Simmons has run into trouble with the law. The hip hop artist spent more than two months in a New York jail in 2015 for failing to pay child support. He also has previous arrests on his record for other charges.

In 1999, DMX released his best-selling album …And Then There Was X, which included the hit single “Party Up (Up in Here)”. He has been featured in films such as Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave and Last Hour. In 2006, he starred in the reality television series DMX: Soul of a Man, which was primarily aired on the BET cable television network. John Bernecker, a stuntman for AMC’s The Walking Dead, has died from his injuries suffered during an accident on Wednesday. He was just 33.

Authorities say Bernecker fell more than 20 feet and landed on concrete while attempting a stunt for the show.

Bernecker died after plunging more than 20 feet and landing on concrete on Wednesday.

Bernecker was an experienced stuntman with a long list of movie credits. Friends applauded his know how and professionalism in the industry and said he enjoyed helping others with stunts.

“Very skilled, he knew his stuff because he helped me with camera angles where to hit and punch if the cameras were in a certain spot,” Janeshia Adams-Ginyard, a good friend and stuntwoman, said.

Many in the stunt community have been hit hard by this tragedy.

“People don’t think about the stunt guys until something like this happens, but there are a lot of risks with the job,” said stuntman Diego Ward.

Bernecker was rushed to Atlanta Medical Center where he was in intensive care. Friends said family and members of the stunt community were by his side.

“There’s a good showing of support, lots of close friends. It’s really sad right now, we’re all trying to process it. I’m trying to process it. It just doesn’t seem real,” said Adams-Ginyard.

Production on The Walking Dead has been halted as a result of the accident. It is unknown when it will resume.

Aaron Tucker, a 34-year-old ex-con, left a bus on the way to a job interview to help rescue a man who had rolled his car on the street. Tucker was on a bus from Bridgeport, Connecticut to Norwalk for the job interview when he noticed the overturned car in Westport.

What Happened?

Tucker spotted the vehicle and immediately asked the bus driver to stop so he could help the driver who was trapped in his smoldering car.

After pulling the man from the vehicle, he took his shit off and used it as a tourniquet to stem the man’s bleeding. As a result, he missed the job interview for a bus boy position at the Dinosaur Bar-B-Que in Stamford.

A GoFundMe account has been set up for Tucker’s benefit following his heroic rescue. In less than 15 hours, people have donated more than $6,000 to the father-of-one. Tucker he said he’ll use the money – and hopefully whatever he earns from a future job – to provide for his son, Aaron Jr., who is living with his mother.

According to the GoFundMe page: “Aaron got off the bus and with the help of three employees of Vautrin Auto Services, rescued the injured man. Aaron went so far as to take the new shirt off his back and wrap it around the injured man’s head.

“Aaron, despite not having a father in his life as a child, is dedicated to his son, and wants to make a good life for Aaron Jr. and his mother. His voice shines when he talks about his Mickey Mouse loving son.”

The New York Daily News reports: “I got up around 5 o’clock in the morning because I was so excited for the interview.

“I looked up and saw a car flipped over right in front of the bus, so I ran to try to jump out of the bus. I saw a lot of smoke coming from the car and I just jumped off the bus and ran to the car.”

Even though Tucker missed his job interview, he said he doesn’t regret his decision.

“It didn’t go through my head, because a job can come and go, but a life is only one time. The only thing running through my head is that person in the car could pass away and I could help him.”

Tucker is currently living in a half-way house after serving half of a 22-month sentence for a weapon charge. He has since received several job offers. Fire Chief Robert Yost told the Westport News that Tucker and two other civilians are responsible for the rescue.

“That’s really reassuring that people are still willing to step in and help out a fellow citizen.”

Hey, remember when everyone was FREAKING out about the NFL’s ratings drop early on in the season? Yeah, it turns out that decline in viewership was just a blip on the radar. In the grand scheme of things, it meant less than the lead the Atlanta Falcons got out to in the Super Bowl against the New England Patriots.

Speaking of which, 111.32 million people tuned in to watch the Super Bowl this year, making it the most-watched sporting event of 2017 so far, according to Sports Media Watch. The rest of the list? Practically all football. Ratings, shmatings.

The NFL claimed 13 of the top 20 most-watched sporting events this year, including the entirety of the top 10. Concussions? National Anthem protests? Rate of play? Doesn’t matter.

Football remains the most popular sport by far in the United States and is clearly America’s true past time (sorry, baseball, you’re old and boring and you smell funny like my grandpa). Outside of the States is a different story, of course.

A whopping 3.2 billion people tuned in to the 2010 World Cup. That’s 46.4 percent of the world. A total of 24.7 million U.S. viewers watched the national team face Portugal in the group stage of the 2014 World Cup, CNN reports. While that is certainly an impressive number (Game of Thrones’ highest ratings top out at around 23 million viewers when all platforms are factored in a full week after initial viewing), there’s no denying that America, as a whole, could care less about soccer.

A common question asked by many non-gamers today is whether esports really qualify as sports even though they involve very little physical movement.

Dictionary.com defines a sport as being ” an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.,” which doesn’t squarely include esports.

I’d argue so and for several reasons. Esport athletes funnel tens of hours a week into practicing their title of choice to become the best in their field. The audience size at many of the professional competitions maxes out at anywhere between 5,000 and 173,000 people, the number of which there was at the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship Katowice 2017 for League of Legends. That’s around 100,000 more than the Super Bowl last year. The largest esports event ever, the World Championship, brought in over 46 million unique online viewers too, over 10 million more than Trump’s inauguration broadcast.

Esports are a force of nature that’s taking the world by storm as a global phenomenon. As the industry grows to be worth over $1 billion and a projected annual revenue of over $5 billion, here’s a short history of some key events in the esports realm, along with some important teams, leagues and games.

History:

Technically, the history of esports begins at Stanford University after the invention of Spacewar!, a game some consider to be the first competitive video game ever created.  Stanford hosted an “Intergalactic Spacewar Olympics,” with the grand prize being a year’s subscription to Rolling Stone magazine. A soft start, but it was still a start. Then in the ’80s, competitive gaming took off with the first popular esports tournament, Atari’s Space Invaders tournament, which gathered together over 10,000 participants to try and achieve the highest score.

The ’90s brought online gaming into the picture, and with it came the rest of the esports movement. The release of Doom, Quake and Warcraft kickstarted the movement, and both games became widely considered to be the first official “esports” titles. Blockbuster Video began running competitive online tournaments at their stores (you heard me right) and later became one of the most celebrated venues in esports competitions.

These games largely drove growth and interest in esports in the ’90s and the 2000s.

The bulk of the early popularity in the 2000s was driven by South Korean esports leagues after huge investments in broadband internet networks post-financial crisis created a boon in competitive gaming. Internet cafes popped up across the country, and Starcraft became a critically-acclaimed and widely popular televised esports title.

In 2010, things grew to even bigger proportions with the hugely popular MOBA games, which blended together RPG and tabletop strategy games, and a surge in first-person shooter games.

The industry is expected to continue to grow at an exponential rate. SuperData research suggests the net viewership of competitive esports is on track to exceed 300 million viewers per year by the end of 2019, and the industry will only continue to grow from there.

From here on out, expect to see esports make long-term progress and, at long last, acceptance in the mainstream media as an official category of sport.

Teams:

Mousesports, NiP and SK Gaming were some of the first esports teams that are still some of the most well-respected esports teams in the scene. These top teams were earning hundreds of thousands in prizes, and the esports world was increasingly becoming stable to work in.

More of the biggest competitive teams, including Fnatic, Team Dignitas, Cloud9 and Team Liquid popped up as well shortly after those did. Legends like Patrik “f0rest” Lindberg from NiP and Filip “NEO” Kubski from Virtus.pro made a splash onto the scene and eventually became some of the most respected figures in all of esports after coming into fruition post-2000.

Now esports teams continue to pop up across several games and larger esports teams have presences across several games. OpTic Gaming, an American team, is one of the most renown Call of Duty esports teams that also has a presence in CS:GO, Halo and Gears of War, worth an astounding $25 million. Evil Geniuses has a presence in StarCraft II, Halo and Street Fighter V, but they’re most known for their Dota 2 team, which has catapulted their organization’s worth over $33 million.

Fnatic is also in a league of its own with a presence across all of the major esports titles. Worth an estimated $42.6 million as of 2015, Fnatic has grown to be one of the most expansive and popular names due to its marketing and business ventures. Fnatic also boasted some of the best players in the CS:GO scene between 2014 and 2016.

Games:

Two popular MOBA games, League of Legends and Dota 2, quickly became the largest esports games in the industry between 2010 and now. LoL now boasts an annual 100 million active players, and Dota 2 is home to the annual Dota 2 International, a tournament with a prize pool exceeding $20 million this year, breaking yet another record for the largest prize pool in an esports event.

Counter Strike: Global Offensive carried on the legacy of its predecessors to become the most popular first-person shooter esports game in existence, beating both the Call of Duty franchise games and all of its predecessors in popularity.

Call of Duty remains one of the big titles in esports despite its decline in popularity after the release of CS:GO. Teams like FaZe Clan and OpTic Gaming are some of the prominent figures in this scene, and yearly viewership figures continue to grow for the franchise after that steep drop-off.

Leagues:

Broadcast companies Ongamenet and MBCGame grew to support huge online tournaments and were some of the first of their time. In 2007 alone, these channels netted a clean $200 million in esports revenue. Ongamenet still broadcasts esports tournaments occasionally, but MBCGame folded in 2012.

Major League Gaming has held a legendary presence in the scene, organizing tournaments across many different gaming titles in its 15-year lifespan. MLG players were looked at as being some of the most respectable in the scene.

The International hosts the largest Dota 2 tournament annually, boasting the largest prize pool in an esports competition in the world. This year, the prize pool has already broken the $20 million barrier and continues to grow as more sponsors trickle in.

The League of Legends World Championships is the flagship annual tournament for the most-played video game in the world. The broadcast for last year netted a total of 43 million viewers and a peak viewership of 14.7 million viewers concurrently.

The Halo Championship Series is the esports league for Halo. In 2016, the prize pool for the series capped at $2 million.

Intel Extreme Masters is run by Turtle Entertainment. This tournament series involves several different game competitions with tournaments for each of them. The convention lasts several days and is regarded as one of the largest esports conventions in existence.

Dreamhack is the world’s largest computer festival, which includes several esports competitions across a number of esports games including CS:GO.

Call of Duty World League is the largest esports league for the Call of Duty franchise that serves as a qualifier for the main annual Call of Duty Championship. The league is separated into an Amateur and a Professional division.

The Battle.net World Championship features a host of tournaments for games created by Blizzard Entertainment, including StarCraft II, World of Warcraft and Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft.

Julia Stambler is the absolute gorgeous model girlfriend of Charlie Sheen. Yes, even after public meltdowns and drug abuse, that guy is still pulling better tail than you’ll ever touch in your life.

Stambler is helping the 51-year-old actor live a healthy lifestyle, which includes a new vegan diet and daily fitness routines. Under Stambler’s watchful eye, Sheen now wakes up early to go swimming and do yoga and he’s also been eating plenty of rice and veggie burgers while sipping coconut water coffee.

The former Two and a Half Men star’s vegan diet isn’t the first example of Sheen going on a health kick.

In June 2016, Sheen said he was eating healthier and staying in shape. “Now it’s exercise, diet. I don’t go on benders, don’t drink as much. It was a combination of self-loathing, a lot of shame that was behind it. I just wanted to keep myself divorced from reality. I just woke up one day and said, ‘I deserve better.'”

Sheen has previously claimed that he’s no longer abusing hard drugs and rarely drinks alcohol these days, but he did say he’s struggling with “borderline dementia” due to the cocktail of drugs he’s on to manage HIV.

But at least he has Stambler, 26, by his side. The couple went public with their relationship in June. Stambler previously worked as the nanny to Sheen’s eight-year-old twins Bob and Max, who he shared custody with ex-wife Brooke Mueller.

The two have reportedly been dating since March.

Four missing men were found dead and buried in a Philadelphia farm. 20-year-old Cosmo DiNardo has taken the wrap for the murders. But now authorities are aware of a potential accomplice in the slayings.

Sean Kratz, 20, allegedly helped his cousin Cosmo cook three of the bodies in a pig roster. The burnt bodies were buried on the family’s Solebury Township estate. Both Kratz and DiNardo have been charged with multiple counts of conspiracy, homicide and abuse of a corpse.

During a news conference, it was revealed that DiNardo’s confession led to the location of the four bodies and the implication of Mr. Kratz in the crime. This confession also spares DiNardo the possibility of the death penalty if this case goes to trial.

Kratz was apprehended by authorities in northeastern Philadelphia on Thursday. On Friday, investigators swarmed on his home, looking for evidence.

Bucks County District Attorney Matthew Weintraub couldn’t find in a motive for the slayings at the farm in Solebury Township. “I’m not sure I could if we could ever answer that question,” he said at a news conference Friday afternoon.

The district attorney is under the impression that no one else was involved in the murders.

Early Thursday morning, the human remains of 19-year-old Dean Finocchiaro was found in a 12.5 deep common grave at farm in Solebury Township, Pennsylvania. Investigator later uncovered the remains of 22-year-old Mark Sturgis, 21-year-old Tom Meo and 19-year-old Jimi Tar Patrick.
