Three Vanderbilt football players were involved in a shooting at a Target in West Nashville on Monday night. Two gunmen are on the run after shooting two college students.

What Happened?

According to Metro police, the shooting was pre-meditated. Officials said the two groups of people had arranged to meet at the Target parking lot on White Bridge in an “ill-conceived plan to recover a stolen cellphone.”

Police said Vanderbilt student Donaven Tennyson met up with someone in the parking lot of the Chili’s on West End. During the meeting, his phone was stolen. Later, he noticed his phone listed online for sale. Tennyson then made a fake profile and arranged a meeting with the seller at Target. The 19-year-old brought two friends with him, 18-year-olds O’montae Daley and Frank Coppet. The three of them brought a pellet piston with them.

Coppet is said to have gotten out of the car with the pellet gun, which is when two individuals in a gray Buick sedan opened fire on them.

Daley was shot in the leg. Coppet was shot in the arm by a shotgun. Both are non-life threatening injuries.

According to the Vanderbilt website, Tennyson, Coppet and Daley are all on the football team.

Police have not yet released descriptions of the gunmen, who also stole the victim’s red Toyota Corolla.

The shooting took place shortly before 9:00 P.M. The store stayed open as officers investigated the crime scene.

Vanderbilt University is a private research university founded in 1873 and located in Nashville, Tennessee. It was named in honor of shipping and rail magnate Cornelius Vanderbilt, who provided the school its initial $1 million endowment despite having never been to the South. Vanderbilt hoped that his gift and the greater work of the university would help to heal the sectional wounds inflicted by the Civil War.

New Indiana Hoosiers coach Archie Miller will make a hefty $24 million under his seven-year deal – and possibly even more through bonuses.

What Happened?

Miller accepted the IU head coaching position back in March (becoming the 29th head coach in the history of the Indiana Hoosiers men’s basketball team), but the athletic department didn’t make the details of his contract public until Tuesday.

He will earn a base salary of $550,000 annually and $1 million in deferred income each season. Miller will also see an additional $1.85 million in outside marketing and promotional income. Each year through March 2024 he will receive a $50,000 raise as well.

Miller can earn an additional $250,000 bonus for winning a national championship. He can earn $125,000 for a Big Ten regular-season title, raching the Final Four and producing multiyear Academic Progress Rate scores over 950.

Does New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick smile? No, I’m serious. Is he actually capable of upturning his lips into a human smile? Cause I don’t think that dude has ever smiled let alone felt the emotion of joy. Yes, he’s won five Super Bowls, but you would never know it based on an interview with the surly, monotonous future Hall of Fame coach.

But, as it turns out, the guy can indeed smile. He just has to be in the right setting and with the right people. Specifically, it appears as if girlfriend Linda Holliday is able to pull a smirk out of the guy.

Belichick and Holliday recently enjoyed a lovey-dovey photo shoot for N Magazine and it is decidedly the most un-Belichickian thing I have ever seen. The couple are strolling through meadows, holding hands and just being romantic and happy. It’s like the Upside-Down world from Stranger Things.

Belichick is only wearing one of his Super Bowl rings in the photo shoot (he went with S.B. 49) … and even lets Holliday wear it for a couple snaps. Could the famous head coach be copping another ring off the field soon?

The Liars are told by Caleb that Mona has the board game and jump to conclusions that Mona is “A.D.”. Mary meets with Spencer at Lost Woods Resort and gives her ownership of the building. Mona reveals that Charlotte never recovered and was going to resume the A-game. She confronted Charlotte and threatened to push her out the window but never planned to go through with it. When Hanna, Caleb and Spencer take Mona back to their car, the final two puzzle pieces are waiting. Later, the Liars gather in a room at the Lost Woods and put the two final puzzle pieces in. When the pieces are in place, the game says “Congratulations. Claim the grand prize”, a picture of Archer. Augmented reality shows a man walking toward Aunt Carol’s house. The Liars are arrested by Tanner at Aunt Carol’s where Archer’s body is found. Mary lies and says she killed Archer, also confessing to Jessica’s murder, saving the Liars from a murder charge. Mona reveals that after she stopped threatening her, Charlotte attacked Mona and in the struggle she accidentally killed Charlotte in self-defense.

Inez Feltscher, a conservative writer for The Federalist, is receiving some backlash for her anti-feminist claim that women should ‘maintain their beauty for the purpose of keeping their husbands happy.’

Feltscher, a 29-year-old who is married to a member of the Tea Party, lives in Washington, D.C. Writing for The Federalist, Feltscher wrote a piece entitled ‘Staying Fit for Your Husband Is One of the Best Gifts You Can Give Him’.

In the piece, Feltscher said that women should ignore the ‘pack of feminist lies that make both men and women unhappier’ for the sake of their marriages.

Furthermore, Feltscher mocks the notion that ‘men and women desire the same things in relationships’, describes a “be yourself” attitude as a selfish way of living.

First, shout out to me and my pun. That’s why they pay me the big bucks (not really) — for high-quality jokes like that.

Now, on to Manny Pacquiao’s old ass.

Don’t get me wrong, Manny Pacquiao is one of the greatest boxers not only of his generation, but all-time. But that’s all he is — a fighter. Not a prognosticator, not an analyst, and certainly not someone anyone should ever take advice from. Lest we not forget, Manny was the dude who said homosexuals should essentially die for being gay, so as far as I’m concerned, Manny Pacquiao’s opinion ain’t worth jack shit.

Especially when it comes to his opinion of the McGregor vs. Mayweather fight, where he says Conor ‘won’t land a punch’:

“There is no way he will be able to land a meaningful punch on Floyd,” Pacquiao said. “How could he? He has no professional experience in boxing.”

And besides, why on Earth would he say McGregor stands on chance? First, Pacquiao is, very obviously, a boxer. Sports are like brotherhoods, so you know a boxer is going to stick with a boxer. Second, take a guess who holds the current pay-per-view purchase records? That’s right: Mayweather vs. Pacquiao. Obviously, that’s a record Pacquiao would like to keep, so he’s going to do his best to keep people from tuning in. Finally, lest we not forget (part 2), Manny got diddled on by Floyd, and by saying Conor stands a puncher’s chance against Floyd, he transitive properties himself into admitting that Conor would have a chance against him, too.

So, all that said, OF COURSE Manny Pacquiao said Conor McGregor has no chance against Floyd Mayweather. Had Manny not lost that fight to Floyd, maybe it would have been him cashing out a $100 million check for fighting McGregor. But he’s not, and he’s salty AF.

Carmella and James Ellsworth Got Beef with Daniel Bryan

SmackDown GM Daniel Bryan opens up tonight’s show. And before you know it, Carmella and Ellsworth are down to the ring to complain. Carmella reminds Bryan that Money In The Bank ladder matches allow outside interference, and no one stripped Sheamus or Seth Rollins of their respective briefcases. Ellsworth gets up in Bryan’s grill. James says that Bryan couldn’t hack it in the ring anymore, so he made up some bogus injury and retired.

Bryan asks the crowd if they want to see the second-ever women’s MITB ladder match. The crowd responds with a resounding “YES!”

By the way, Ellsworth isn’t just banned from ringside, he’s banned from the building. Security comes out and drags out James.

The Hype Bros vs. The Usos

The Hype Bros are solidly in control. Mojo seems invincible to the tag champ’s chops. Ryder performs a successful suicide dive. But his success doesn’t last long as he’s taken out with a big Uso kick.

Zack Ryder is dominated during much of the commercial break. But when Mojo gets the tag, he comes in like a hot bolt of lightning. Mojo is on fire, kicking ass all over the place. He’s about to perform a double-team move with a rejuvenated Ryder, but gets kicked in the head. Ryder nails a missile dropkick. But The Usos take control and hit a splash for the win.

The Usos defeat The Hype Bros

Post-Match: The New Day come down to the ring and challenge The Usos to a title match at the Battleground pay-per-view. The Usos accept. They’ll take out ya boys because it’s no longer about The New Day-ish, it’s about Day One-ish. Xavier thinks The Usos got bars, but The New Day consistently spits fire. Kofi schools The Usos because his squad are “underdogs like Rudy, while The Usos are under-draws like booty!”

Fashion Files: VICE

The Fashion Police are interrogating The Ascension. Fandango attempts the suspects with Eddie Money tickets if they confess, but they won’t crack. Viktor was about to grab those tickets, but Konnor reminded him that they’re only into trash metal grindcore. Tyler Breeze tempts the team with a cheese platter. But he also wants to know why they attacked him. The Ascension claim innocence, they just wanted a match on the Money In The Bank card.

There is noise in the other room. The Fashion Po Po check it out and see that their office is trashed. Meanwhile, The Ascension grab hold of those Eddie Money tickets.

Lana attacks the champion from behind before the match started. The bell rings and Lana hits Naomi with her finisher. The champ quickly turns the tide with one swift kick. Noami executes a split-legged moonsault from the top rope, and that’s it!

Imagine being such a heinous D-bag that it was proving impossible to find just 12 people in a city of millions that think maybe, just maybe, you aren’t as huge of a D-bag as you seem. That’s the predicament Martin Shkreli finds himself in as the Brooklyn federal court is struggling to find 12 jurors for his fraud trial.

What Happened?

Shkreli, the 34-year-old founder of Retrophin Inc and Turing Pharmaceuticals AG, is accused of defrauding investors in two hedge funds and using $11 million of Retrophin assets to pay them off, according to Bloomberg.

Shkreli’s legal troubles followed a public destruction of his character and image after he increased the price of an AIDS drug by 5,000 percent while he was running Turing Pharmaceuticals. People were understandably disgusted with him on that one.

As a result, it’s hard to find anyone who doesn’t hate this dude’s guts. Over the course of eight hours, lawyers questioned the 178-person Brooklyn federal court pool…and dismissed 134 of them for prejudices against Shkreli related to his polarizing track record.

The first potential juror interviewed Monday, a young woman in her 30s, called Shkreli “an evil man.” Another woman said she knew he’d been labeled “the most hated man in America,” while a third woman declared, “I looked right at him and, in my head, I said ‘that’s a snake.”’

One woman, who pretended to wring Shkreli’s neck, said, “I honestly don’t think I could be impartial.” Referring to Shkreli’s decision to hike the price of a drug by 5,000 percent, she asked “Who does that?” She then answered her own question: “A person who puts profit over everything else.”

One young man, who mentioned Shkreli’s $2 million purchase of the only copy of the Wu-Tang Clan album “Once Upon a Time in Shaolin,” answered the judge: “Honestly? Because he kind of looks like a dick.”

The search for 12 jurors and six alternates is ongoing.

Shkreli faces up to 20 years in prison if convicted of securities fraud charges. Who here thinks he’d do well in prison? That’s what I thought.

The Lamba Theta Phi fraternity at University of Central Florida has been suspended while the university investigates accusations that the frat hosted a party where one of its members had sex with someone who was too drunk to consent.

The fraternity brothers also facing allegations of hazing pledges and drinking while underage.

According to Lambda Theta Phi executive director Jarrod Cruz, the fraternity also is investigating the accusations.

“We find the allegations disturbing as they stand in direct contradiction to our mission and values to promote the spirit of brotherhood, empower Latinx students, and promote Latinx culture,” he wrote in an email to Orlando Sentinel.

The UCF police department is not investigating the allegations, said Courtney Gilmartin, a spokeswoman for the university. The fraternity does not have a house on campus and it’s unclear from the report where the party and hazing occurred.

Documents from the university detail several accusations reported to the university’s hazing hotline, including an “after-party” for the presentation of the fraternity’s newest members, where they drank and one member had sex with someone who was “severely mentally, physically incapacitated.”

After the party, members circulated a photo that depicted how drunk the person was before the sexual intercourse occurred, according to the accusations outlined in the report.

Aside from the sexual assault allegations, the report states that three of the newest members were hazed.

Lamba Theta Phi allegedly forced the pledges to live with each other for a month and had them complete exercises that “pushed them to physical and mental exhaustion” while reciting information about the history of the chapter and national organization.

During a phone call with Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar, President Donald Trump awkwardly complimented the appearance of Irish reporter, Caitriona Perry.

Video shows President Trump calling her over to praise on her “nice smile” during a call with Irish prime minister Leo Varadkar, the country’s first gay Prime Minister.

Perry uploaded the video to her own Twitter, labeling the moment as “bizarre” on Twitter and shared the video.

“Well, we have a lot of your Irish press watching us. They’re just now leaving the room. And where are you from? Go ahead, come here. Where are you from? We have all of this beautiful Irish press. Where are you from?” The President said.

“I’m from RTE. Caitriona Perry.”

“Caitriona Perry. She has a nice smile on her face. So, I bet she treats you well,” President Trump said.

According to her personal website, Perry is an award-winning Irish journalist who has worked broadcast news correspondent since 2000.

Perry is currently Washington Correspondent for Ireland’s national public service broadcaster, RTE, where she works on television, radio and digital platforms. She has significant editorial experience and has previously worked as a news anchor, presenter, documentary maker, producer, and program editor.

Perry has won awards for her television and radio reportage, including most recently a National Justice Media Merit Award for TV News in June 2015.  She has an Undergraduate Degree in Journalism and a Masters Degree in International Relations, both earned Dublin City University.

After what felt like a decade of bad decisions and head scratching moves, Phil Jackson has finally been fired as President of the New York Knicks. Needless to say, it was far from a happy breakup.

Ever since Jackson took over as Knicks President back in 2014, the legendary franchise of had one of it’s worst stretches in its history.

After signing a record five-year, $60 million dollar deal, Jackson inherited a Knicks, team coming off of a 37-win season. After Jackson’s first year, the team won just 17 games. Overall, Jacksons Knicks teams went a combined 80-166.

According to reports, the final straw that broke the camel’s back between Jackson and Knicks own James Dolan, along with his stubborn commitment to the Triangle offense, was Jackson’s determination to buy out Carmelo Anthony.

Phil Jackson’s three-year tenure as the Knicks’ president of basketball operations is expected to end abruptly Wednesday. Knicks owner James Dolan is expected to dismiss Jackson from his position, according to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne.

Dolan spent Tuesday weighing the future of Jackson and the two had a conversation about the decision late at night, according to The Vertical’s Adrian Wojnarowski. Dolan became uncertain about Jackson’s ability to carry out the job in recent weeks and became increasingly ready to act after Jackson publicly fielding trade offers for star on-the-rise Kristaps Porzingis.

The reported change of heart comes just months after Dolan picked up the final two years and $24 million on The Zen Master’s five-year contract as team president, and only days after Jackson drafted French point guard Frank Ntilikina eighth overall in the June 22 NBA Draft.

Frankly, it’s been clear for a couple of years now that The Zen Master and the Knickerbockers weren’t going to work out. Now, Knicks fans just need to figure out a way to get James Dolan, the worst owner in sports, to sell the team.

José Luis Bedolla and Lisa García Bedolla, two alumni of the University of California – Berkeley, have awarded the Miguel and Elvira Bedolla Scholarship to support undocumented students at UC Berkeley.

The scholarship is named after Bedolla’s parents who supported him while he himself was an undocumented student on campus.

They have committed to pay $100,000 to endow the scholarship, which will be paid out over time, with the payout beginning once they reach $50,000 of the endowment.

According to Ricardo Fouster, campus corporate and foundation relations officer, the endowment will provide scholarships to undocumented campus students who are “enrolled full time and meet the university’s academic and financial need criteria.”

The fund was established in December 2016. So far only one student has received the scholarship. García Bedolla did not disclose the student recipient in order to protect their undocumented status. The couple has paid an additional $500 this year in order to immediately support the student, according to García Bedolla.

“How many students you can help depends on the size of the endowment,” García Bedolla said. “We hope people will give to the scholarship so that we can help more students.”

According to Fouster, the scholarship will expand to include two scholarships ranging from $800 to $1,000 awarded annually. This may, however, vary depending on the performance of the endowment principal — or seed money.

Bedolla, who is also a campus professor of education and political science, said she sees many students looking for help accessing financial aid but that undocumented students are often barred from accessing these resources.

“We wanted to support those students we feel are in most need on campus — undocumented students,” Bedolla said.
